Infinity Castle Trilogy Revealed!
45sReveals the movie is part of a trilogy, sparking excitement and discussion among fans.
▶ Play ClipThis video breaks down the plot and key character matchups of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part One, explaining the Ubayashiki family curse, the backstories of Upper Rank demons Doma and Kaigaku, and the central rivalry between Tanjiro and Akaza. It also sets up future battles for the rest of the trilogy.
The movie is officially titled 'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part One, Akaza Returns' and is the first part of a trilogy serving as the series finale, likely covering both the Infinity Castle and Sunrise Countdown arcs.
Kagaya Ubayashiki, his wife Amane, and two daughters sacrifice themselves to trap Muzan, leaving three surviving children (Kiriya, Kuina, and Kanata) to map the Infinity Castle and aid the Demon Slayers.
Doma, Upper Rank Two, was a cult figurehead who became a demon at 20 and ate his disciples. He kills Shinobu, and her apprentice Kanao faces him, symbolizing the contrast between apathy and human will.
Kaigaku, Zenitsu's former fellow disciple, becomes a demon to save himself, leading to a fight where Zenitsu defeats him with a new Thunder Breathing technique, honoring their master.
Akaza returns to fight Tanjiro and Giyu, mirroring his previous battle with Rengoku. Tanjiro uses Sun Breathing and the transparent world, while Akaza's backstory reveals his tragic past and eventual suicide for an honorable death.
Remaining matchups include Kanao vs. Doma, Inosuke in the changing halls, Tokito vs. Upper Moon One (likely), and Obanai and Mitsuri fighting together, with all plotlines continuing in Part Two.
The Infinity Castle arc sets up intense battles and character resolutions, with the trilogy promising a complete conclusion to the Demon Slayer series.
"The title accurately promises an explanation of the ending and what's next, delivering detailed plot breakdowns and future setups."

9:51[00:00] Hey, welcome back to Screen Crush. I'm
[00:01] Ryan Ary and this is The Demon Slayer:
[00:03] The Infinity Castle Broken Down and
[00:05] explained. Now, we're not going to go
[00:06] into too much on the manga after this
[00:08] movie's events, but spoilers for
[00:10] Infinity Castle are ahead. So, let's
[00:12] dive in. First of all, this movie is
[00:14] officially titled Demon Slayer Kametsu
[00:16] Noa: The Movie Infinity Castle Part One,
[00:19] Akaza Returns. So, it's only the first
[00:21] part in a trilogy that serves as a
[00:23] finale to the series. Technically, the
[00:25] Infinity Castle arc is the pen ultimate
[00:27] arc in the series. The final being the
[00:29] Sunrise Countdown arc, although we're
[00:31] still unsure. Most likely, this trilogy
[00:33] released in theaters will encompass both
[00:35] arcs and fully conclude the Demon Slayer
[00:37] series. Now, Infinity Castle continues
[00:39] many plot lines that were sprinkled
[00:41] throughout the show since season 1. In
[00:43] the anime, these plot lines were either
[00:45] really vague or barely touched upon, so
[00:47] honestly, it could be pretty confusing
[00:49] going into the movie full throttle. So,
[00:51] let's start with the Ubayashiki family.
[00:53] The movie begins with the Demon Slayers
[00:55] falling through the Infinity Castle. all
[00:57] the hashira more and Kaiga Ubayashiki,
[00:59] the previous master of the core. The
[01:01] master finally came face tof face with
[01:03] man at the end of the last arc, which by
[01:05] the way we covered completely in our
[01:06] recap video. You should watch it. It's
[01:08] very good. He explains the Ubayashiki
[01:10] curse that arose from having a demon
[01:12] born from the family.
[01:13] >> A demon has recently emerged from your
[01:15] family's bloodline. Commit yourselves
[01:18] from here on out to eliminating that
[01:20] manifestation. Even after centuries of
[01:22] marrying the daughters of priests,
[01:24] anybody with the name Ubayashiki doesn't
[01:26] live past age 30. The only thing that
[01:28] will save them is defeating Muzan.
[01:30] Finally turning the tide in this fight,
[01:32] the Ubayashiki family makes a drastic
[01:34] move.
[01:37] Kagaya, his wife Ammane, and two of
[01:40] their daughters agree to sacrifice
[01:41] themselves in order to trap man for the
[01:43] demon slayers. Now, this leaves us
[01:45] thinking the Ubayashiki family is no
[01:47] more. But as we see in Infinity Castle,
[01:50] there are three still living children,
[01:52] Kira, Kuina, and Kaneta. The three kids
[01:55] map out the Infinity Castle, aiding the
[01:57] rest of the Demon Slayers and trying to
[01:58] predict where man is hiding. At the
[02:00] forefront is Kira. He's one of five kids
[02:03] and the only son of Kagaya and Amane.
[02:05] With Kagaya's passing, he is the next
[02:07] master of the Demon Slayer Corps. Now,
[02:09] we've actually seen Kira before back in
[02:11] season 1 during Final Selection.
[02:13] >> You've come to enter the Demon Slayer
[02:15] Cor's final selection. At that time, he
[02:18] dressed more feminine. Now, this is most
[02:20] likely because dressing as a girl would
[02:21] have helped disguise his identity as the
[02:23] potential next heir of the core and lead
[02:25] to fewer demon attacks on the Ubayashiki
[02:28] family. Teaming up with the benevolent
[02:29] demons, the Ubayashiki siblings use
[02:31] Yushiro's blood art on the communication
[02:33] crows to locate all the slayers and
[02:35] remaining demons. So, this leads us
[02:37] straight into the fight with Doma.
[02:39] >> I see.
[02:40] >> Back in the Entertainment District arc,
[02:41] we saw Doma as the previous upper rank
[02:44] six, giving blood to Guutaro and Daky.
[02:46] Maybe you'll be a 12 kizaki like me.
[02:49] >> Rising to upper rank two, Doma has shown
[02:51] his prowess at killing.
[02:52] >> Has there ever been a time I didn't meet
[02:54] your expectations, my lord?
[02:56] >> And an airy tieress much to the chagrin
[02:58] of the rest of the upper ranks.
[03:02] >> And man himself,
[03:03] >> keep your wretched eyeballs. I have no
[03:06] need for them.
[03:07] >> His status as a cult leader was also
[03:08] nodded to at the beginning of the
[03:10] swordsmith village arc.
[03:11] >> Your disciples have just arrived. But we
[03:13] dive deeper into his backstory in the
[03:15] Infinity Castle. Born to leaders of the
[03:17] Eternal Paradise faith, baby Doma was
[03:19] made into the cult's figurehead.
[03:21] Disciples would ask the child leader for
[03:23] advice and blessings on money, love, and
[03:25] other life struggles. Due to his apathy
[03:27] and confusion for human emotions, Doma
[03:29] found these pleasor and delusional. When
[03:31] he turned 20, man offered him blood, and
[03:33] Doma became a little freak who liked
[03:35] eating people. His new mission in the
[03:37] cult was to eat his disciples, convinced
[03:39] that it would help them end their
[03:40] suffering and enter paradise. Now, this
[03:43] is what he tells Shaneobu before killing
[03:44] her and absorbing her into his body.
[03:51] >> No, I'm still sad. It didn't work.
[03:53] >> Shobu's apprentice, Kana, makes it just
[03:55] in time before seeing her mentor give a
[03:57] final signal and perish, leaving Kana to
[04:00] face off against Doma. Now, this is an
[04:02] interesting matchup for several reasons.
[04:04] Not only is it because of the symbolism
[04:05] of a girl avenging her adopted sisters
[04:08] against a demon who primarily feeds on
[04:10] women, but it's also their experience
[04:11] with emotion or lack thereof. Both Doma
[04:14] and Kau have lived apathetic lifestyles.
[04:17] Like we saw in season 1, Kana grew up in
[04:19] an abusive household and repressed her
[04:21] emotions to the point of dissociating as
[04:23] a defensive mechanism.
[04:25] >> But then one day,
[04:27] I heard a snapping sound and I never
[04:30] knew pain again. She was unable to make
[04:32] decisions by herself until she met the
[04:34] Coocho sisters.
[04:36] >> Next time you're on your own, flip this
[04:38] coin to help you make a choice.
[04:39] >> Similar to the Comedo siblings, Kana
[04:42] could have become a demon just like Doma
[04:44] if things had worked out just a little
[04:45] differently. The key difference leading
[04:46] to their diverging paths are, like the
[04:48] previous master said, the sense of
[04:50] entitlement and human will. Even as a
[04:52] kid, Doma had the world at his feet and
[04:54] believed everyone to be dim-witted
[04:56] because of their hope for a better life.
[04:58] Aside from man, he always had a
[05:00] condescending heir when speaking to
[05:02] anyone. Conal, on the other hand, came
[05:04] from nothing, not even a name.
[05:06] >> She doesn't have a name. All right. She
[05:08] never got one.
[05:09] >> It was through her time with the Coach
[05:11] siblings, the butterfly girls, and
[05:12] Toniro, that she slowly began to gain
[05:15] back her will and passion.
[05:18] >> Tonerro is asleep, so please be quiet.
[05:21] You need to hang on tight. A lot of what
[05:23] makes up these upper ranked demons are a
[05:24] sense of entitlement or the idea of
[05:27] unearned power without consequences.
[05:29] This is especially true to the next
[05:31] demon we see, Kaaku, the new upper Moon
[05:33] 6. Now, we first saw Kaaku in season 1
[05:36] during Zenitzu's backstory.
[05:38] >> Any effort spent on you is an absolute
[05:40] waste of time.
[05:41] >> Ever so brash and cruel, Kyaku would
[05:43] admonish Zenitsu for being so outwardly
[05:46] cowardly and resent the fact that their
[05:47] thunderbreathing master deemed them both
[05:49] to be his successors. Despite Zenitu not
[05:52] being able to complete all the breathing
[05:54] techniques, but as much as he boasted
[05:56] about his strength, Kagaku was
[05:57] internally extremely spineless and
[05:59] selfish. In the letter from the Hashira
[06:01] training arc, Zenitzu finds out that
[06:03] their thunderb breathing master
[06:04] committed sepeku due to his students
[06:06] choice to become a demon. When offered
[06:07] blood from Upper Mood 1, Kaiaku
[06:09] immediately bowed to his strength,
[06:11] turning back on humanity to save his own
[06:13] skin. Now, this shouldn't be news to us
[06:15] because we have seen him act in this
[06:17] self-s serving way before. In the
[06:18] Hashira training arc, during Guiome's
[06:20] backstory, we actually see Kyaku as one
[06:22] of the children in his orphanage. After
[06:24] being caught stealing from the temple,
[06:26] Kyaku runs into a demon and surprise
[06:28] surprise, offers up the other orphans
[06:30] and Guiome to save his own skin. So,
[06:32] this leads to a massacre at the temple
[06:34] and Guiam, falsely imprisoned for
[06:36] murder.
[06:36] >> But these are children we're talking
[06:38] about. All they can do is think of
[06:40] themselves.
[06:41] >> Zenitsu and Kyaku's face off really
[06:43] demonstrates the inverse nature of these
[06:45] two characters. Kyaku's outward
[06:47] arrogance and audacity masks his frail
[06:50] principles and timid heart. While
[06:51] Zenitsu's notable cowardice doesn't
[06:53] overpower his perseverance and loyalty
[06:55] to his loved ones, until he became a
[06:57] demon, Zenitzu always regarded Kigaku as
[07:00] an older brother, no matter how cruel he
[07:02] was to him.
[07:03] >> Good for nothing. Any effort spent on
[07:05] you is an absolute waste of time.
[07:07] >> Zenitzu defeats Upper Moon 6 with a new
[07:09] thunder breathing technique, bringing
[07:11] pride to his teacher. Yiro administers
[07:13] first aid to Zenitu. Now, you'll notice
[07:15] that he's now dawning a demon slayer
[07:17] uniform. Yhiro is still the only demon
[07:20] to be created by Lady Tamio and has no
[07:22] ill intention. To maintain his safety,
[07:24] he now blends in with the rest of the
[07:26] core, hiding his demon status and
[07:28] prioritizing healing the rest of the
[07:29] core members. So, this leads to the next
[07:31] major upper rank fight. Now, like the
[07:34] title suggests, this movie mainly
[07:35] focuses on the return of Aza and his
[07:37] rivalry with Tano. For a quick
[07:39] refresher, Aaza was the upper ranked
[07:41] demon who showed up at the end of the
[07:42] Mugan Train arc. His last fight with
[07:44] Reng Goku was when the other flame
[07:46] Hashira denied his offer to be a demon
[07:48] and made his final stand. This urges
[07:50] Tano to call out his fear of the sun and
[07:53] demon slayers. After being bered by
[07:55] Muzan, Akaza pummel the sword Tano shot
[07:58] at his neck and vows to make him pay.
[08:00] >> I'm going to save her tearing you limb
[08:02] from limb.
[08:02] >> While reuniting with Taniro and beating
[08:04] Guillu, the water hashira, Akaza
[08:06] suggests Guillu to become a demon.
[08:08] Making the same offer that he did to Ren
[08:10] Goku. Obviously denying this offer, the
[08:12] three prepare for a showdown. Now, while
[08:14] fighting, we can see just how much of
[08:16] Ring Goku's spirit is reflected in Tano,
[08:18] becoming a mirror of Akaz's previous
[08:20] fight with the flame Hashira.
[08:22] >> It is the duty of those born strong to
[08:24] help those who may be less fortunate.
[08:27] >> Tano also uses Rangoku's flame guard on
[08:29] his new sword, keeping his spirit alive.
[08:32] During the fight, Tano has to reach the
[08:34] transparent world. To gain access, Tano
[08:36] remembered his father's Hinami Kagura
[08:38] dance. The Kagura was revealed to be the
[08:40] sun breathing technique in disguise.
[08:42] >> Not only is it the first one ever to be
[08:44] created, it's the most powerful one as
[08:47] well.
[08:48] >> It was demonstrated by Tonerro's father
[08:49] to be like any other breathing
[08:51] technique, having to do it thousands of
[08:53] times to get the movement down before
[08:54] doing it with ease forever. Later, we
[08:57] see Aaza's backstory. A's past is really
[08:59] notable because it shows just how much
[09:01] his perceptions were twisted after
[09:03] becoming a demon. Like many pairings in
[09:05] Demon Slayer, Ring Goku and Akaza can be
[09:08] considered as foils. One is honorable
[09:10] and believes the strong should protect
[09:12] the weak, while the other believes the
[09:13] weak should suffer for their
[09:14] inferiority. But by looking at his
[09:16] backstory, you can see how Akaza was
[09:18] once similar to Ren Goku. His incredible
[09:21] resolve to protect the ones he loves,
[09:23] even if it means getting hurt, parallels
[09:25] both Tano and the former flame Hashira's
[09:27] motives. His obsession with growing
[09:29] stronger stemmed from not being able to
[09:30] protect his loved ones and despising the
[09:33] humans who disgracefully wronged him.
[09:35] But even as a demon, he still has
[09:37] remnants of his past life, whether or
[09:39] not it was willing. You can see that his
[09:41] fiance's hair pin influenced the shape
[09:43] and designs of his compass needle
[09:44] technique, and the martial arts fighting
[09:46] style was influenced by his dojo master.
[09:49] The fight ends when Akaza realizes he
[09:51] wants an honorable death to hell and
[09:52] mutilates himself. The rest of the upper
[09:54] ranks sense his demise. Upper Moon One
[09:57] teases Aaza's last words to him, which
[09:59] we saw at the beginning of the
[10:00] Swordsmith Village arc.
[10:02] >> I understand. I'm going to kill you if
[10:04] it's the last thing I do.
[10:06] >> With the main fight of the movie wrapped
[10:07] up, we're still left with many battles
[10:09] and character matchups for the rest of
[10:11] the trilogy. The next movie will be
[10:13] focusing on Kau's battle with Doma to
[10:15] avenge her sisters and all the victims
[10:17] that he left in his wake. Enoske is
[10:19] running through the changing halls
[10:20] similar to how he did at the Susami
[10:22] mansion.
[10:23] >> Coming through. Now, we still have yet
[10:26] to see who Tokito and Guiome will go up
[10:28] against. Based on Tokito's heritage of
[10:30] sunbreathing users, a probable matchup
[10:32] would be against Upper Moon One. Given
[10:34] that he looks identical to the renowned
[10:36] swordsman, apart from the six creepy
[10:37] eyes on his face, it is very likely that
[10:39] we'll explore more of their backstory
[10:41] and family connection. We also have yet
[10:43] to see Obana and Mitsuri's battle. Given
[10:45] that we know about Obana's feelings for
[10:47] her,
[10:48] >> if they get ripped, then I'll give you a
[10:50] new pair.
[10:53] We can expect a flashy fight with them
[10:55] professing their love or you know a
[10:57] horrible death in a typical Demon Slayer
[10:59] fashion. The movie ends with the rest of
[11:01] the Demon Slayer scattered across the
[11:03] layer trying to stay alive and find
[11:04] Muzan. All of these plot lines will be
[11:06] explored next year in the second part of
[11:08] the Infinity Castle arc. So guys, that's
[11:10] the ending explained for you. Huge shout
