Disgusting Arby's Manager

[00:02] eating at Arby's. I just learned about

[00:05] an ongoing case where a former Arby's

[00:08] manager spit in a customer's food, which

[00:11] they have video evidence to confirm the

[00:14] uh the spitting there and allegedly gave

[00:19] that customer herpes.

[00:22] That is unhinged.

[00:25] And I'm going to tell you something,

[00:26] sports fans. I'm not even that surprised

[00:29] to learn that from Arby's because if

[00:31] you've been around for a while, you

[00:33] might recall fourish years ago, Arby's

[00:37] waged viral warfare on me as well. When

[00:41] doing the hottest sandwich in the world,

[00:43] they served me a sandwich that was

[00:46] questionably cooked, and I'm using the

[00:48] word cooked very loosey goosey because

[00:50] that chicken sandwich was [ __ ] pink.

[00:53] And I had already eaten some of it when

[00:55] I noticed they were doing this whole,

[00:57] "We've got the hottest chicken sandwich

[00:59] ever. Get ready to fill your diaper with

[01:01] fear when you try this puppy." But it

[01:04] was actually just a Trojan horse to

[01:05] introduce Salmonella into my system.

[01:08] Luckily, I didn't get devastatingly ill

[01:10] or anything, but I definitely could

[01:11] have. Improperly prepared poultry is not

[01:14] something you [ __ ] around with. And

[01:15] Arby's was back there like diabolically

[01:19] concocting this, you know, weapon

[01:22] against me. So, I don't love Arby's. I

[01:26] feel like most people probably don't

[01:28] either. You'd have to really be cruising

[01:30] Arkham Asylum before you found a single

[01:33] Arby's enthusiast. So, that being said,

[01:36] I already didn't like Arby's and had no

[01:38] plans of going there. But after seeing

[01:40] this story, you can bet your sweet bippy

[01:42] you won't be catching me ever getting

[01:45] the rumbly tummy that only Arby's can

[01:48] fix.

[01:49] >> Now, to a story we all wish would be

[01:51] just a gross urban legend. But in

[01:54] McCerten County, a former Arby's manager

[01:56] is charged with felony poisoning,

[01:58] accused of spitting in a woman's food

[02:01] and giving her herpes as a result. After

[02:04] a long night bartending, Jennica Church

[02:06] stopped at Arby's and Broken Bow.

[02:08] >> It was taking a little bit of time.

[02:10] Thought they were probably mad at me cuz

[02:12] it was right about to close. Jennica

[02:14] said she had some history with Amanda

[02:16] Hendrickx, the manager, but nothing

[02:18] major. She went home, ate, and shared

[02:21] sandwiches with her father-in-law and

[02:23] grandmother-in-law. Jennica, her

[02:24] husband, the kids, and the grandparents

[02:27] all live together.

[02:28] >> It's just so evil to do some [ __ ] like

[02:31] this. I'm already a hypochondric. So,

[02:33] every time I order out, there is always

[02:35] that like lingering anxiety about like,

[02:39] well, what if they spit in my food? And

[02:41] it has never even crossed my mind that

[02:44] if that happened, they could give me

[02:47] herpes. I've always just thought like,

[02:48] oh, if that happens, it's going to be

[02:50] yucky. Ew. It's going to be gross. But

[02:52] at least it won't be Arby's. But now the

[02:55] game has changed. You can't put the

[02:57] toothpaste back in the tube. If this is

[03:00] true that her spitting in the food,

[03:02] which that part isn't really up for

[03:04] debate, there's no big dispute there.

[03:06] Apparently, they have video evidence

[03:08] showing her spitting in it. But what is

[03:10] still up in the air is whether or not

[03:12] that spit led to her contracting herpes

[03:14] from it. But if that is true, that sh

[03:18] that sends shivers down my spine. That

[03:20] is horrifying. So, I looked it up to see

[03:23] if this is like a well-known

[03:25] transmission here, like saliva on food

[03:29] transmitting herpes to someone else.

[03:31] Like, cuz I I had remembered hearing

[03:33] like uh transmitting herpes through

[03:35] sharing drinks is like not as high risk

[03:38] as you would expect. Like, it's kind of

[03:40] like low risk. So, I looked it up for

[03:42] food cuz I thought it'd be even less

[03:43] risk because especially on warm food or

[03:45] something, you would think that it would

[03:46] make it inactive pretty quickly. But it

[03:49] is possible, but it is very rare. Which

[03:52] would explain why out of all the food

[03:54] that I guess she spit on that night,

[03:56] only one of the people who consumed it

[03:58] got it. The others must have been

[04:01] luckier in that regard. So, from what I

[04:04] can tell from like the bits and pieces I

[04:06] was looking up about it, it can happen,

[04:08] but it's so exceedingly rare that

[04:10] there's just not even a whole lot of

[04:11] like information on it cuz it's not a

[04:14] common means of transmission, like

[04:17] spitting on food.

[04:18] >> After that night, Jennica's mouth began

[04:20] to flare up like it never had before.

[04:23] The doctor diagnosed her with herpes.

[04:26] >> Several times a week, I get a flare up.

[04:30] It goes all the way up to the top of my

[04:32] eye. My eye twitches. I mean, it's very

[04:35] painful. You're probably wondering, how

[04:37] could she possibly connect herpes to

[04:40] Arby's?

[04:41] >> I'll be honest, not exactly the Charles

[04:43] Xavier level mind reading there from the

[04:45] host because I've always had a hunch

[04:47] that if there ever was going to be some

[04:49] kind of crazy outbreak, some kind of,

[04:53] you know, new plague, it might just

[04:56] happen at Arby's. Like the [ __ ] tea

[04:58] virus gets unleashed through Arby's

[05:00] diabolically trash garbage [ __ ]

[05:03] sludge that they serve to human beings.

[05:09] Amanda Hendris was bragging about

[05:11] spitting in her sandwiches that night

[05:14] and Jennica's daughter heard the story.

[05:16] >> According to the affidavit, Brokenbo

[05:18] police say they pulled cameras and saw

[05:21] Amanda spitting in the food.

[05:23] >> What a vile person. A to even do this

[05:27] act in the first place of spitting in

[05:29] the food and B to then start bragging

[05:32] about it. All right, everyone. All

[05:47] That is disgusting. Now again, it's not

[05:50] clear whether or not she actually

[05:52] transmitted herpes through this because

[05:55] that is not proven yet, but it's still a

[05:58] gross, unacceptable thing to do. And it

[06:00] is still a crime to spit in food like

[06:02] that. That is a very serious crime,

[06:05] actually. So regardless, what she's done

[06:08] here is still incredibly [ __ ] up. Now,

[06:12] what I will say is apparently she spit

[06:15] in her order, and this was food that was

[06:18] shared with multiple people, her and

[06:20] family, and out of all of them, she's

[06:23] the only one that got herpes from it,

[06:25] allegedly. So that leads me to believe

[06:29] that maybe the other family members got

[06:30] extremely lucky. Or maybe she put a

[06:32] little extra secret sauce here, the

[06:34] Krabby Patty secret formula, hawkked an

[06:36] extra lugie on her sandwich in

[06:38] particular to really seal the deal. or,

[06:42] and this is me just now spitballing,

[06:45] there is a chance that since these two

[06:48] apparently had a little bit of history,

[06:50] it's not clear to what extent, but

[06:52] according to this news report, these two

[06:55] knew each other and did have, I guess, a

[06:57] bit of friction history between them.

[06:59] Maybe after her daughter heard the

[07:02] Arby's manager bragging about spitting

[07:04] in the food, she realized that this is a

[07:06] very good opportunity to, you know,

[07:09] capitalize off that cuz that is a crime

[07:12] 1,000% and she should go after her for

[07:15] that regardless. And I'm really

[07:17] interested to see how this plays out if

[07:19] they prove that the herpes is directly

[07:23] from her spitting in that food. Cuz

[07:25] again, from everything I've read, that

[07:26] is a very very very very rare way of

[07:30] transmitting herpes. And I imagine like

[07:33] it would be tough to investigate, but

[07:36] like if the Arby's manager doesn't have

[07:38] herpes, that probably puts the kibos on

[07:41] it right away. Or if they find evidence

[07:43] that she had already had herpes before

[07:45] this bit, then that too. But I'm willing

[07:47] to believe her story because she has

[07:50] been wronged and it feels like it'd be a

[07:53] weird thing to include in there if it

[07:56] was just untrue. So, I I'm just very

[07:59] curious to see how this plays out as

[08:00] they continue to investigate the case.

[08:03] >> She's charged with felony poisoning with

[08:05] intent to injure. A warrant has been

[08:07] issued for her arrest. Jennica and her

[08:09] family filed a lawsuit against Amanda,

[08:12] Arby's, and affiliated restaurant

[08:13] groups, claiming extreme anxiety,

[08:16] emotional distress, and fear of

[08:18] infection. Jennica fears it'll impact

[08:21] her service industry work.

[08:22] >> Yeah, that makes sense because her life

[08:24] has now been directly impacted in a

[08:27] wildly detrimental way as a result of

[08:29] this behavior from the former Arby's

[08:32] manager. So, that that checks out. I it

[08:35] never even crossed my mind as a

[08:37] possibility. And it's something they

[08:38] mention in this interview here about

[08:40] like, oh, you hear about, you know,

[08:42] workers spitting in food if they're

[08:44] upset or something, but I've never seen

[08:45] it happen. I wouldn't have, you know,

[08:46] thought something like this was possible

[08:48] until it happened to her. It is just

[08:51] terrible really. And she talks about how

[08:54] it could like impact her work in the

[08:55] service industry because she'd worry

[08:57] about like having, you know, herpes

[09:00] flare up, you know, no one wanting to

[09:03] like hire her, have her work during that

[09:04] flare up because they wouldn't want her

[09:06] handling food. Customers would be

[09:07] uncomfortable. So, it's pretty obvious

[09:11] that her life is now something that has

[09:14] changed as a result of allegedly being

[09:18] poisoned by the [ __ ] Arby's manager
