"The title promises an early look at the prologue, and the video delivers exactly that, with a thorough playthrough and detailed discussion of the game's features and roadmap."

AI Summary

This video is a live stream playthrough of the prologue demo for the upcoming action RPG Emberville, developed by Cygnus Cross. The streamer, Coe, explores the game's early content, showcasing its combat, crafting, and world-building mechanics while discussing the game's development roadmap and early access plans.

[00:00]
Introduction to Emberville Prologue

The video begins with an introduction to the Emberville prologue, a preview build of the game. The developer notes that the game is in active development and may contain bugs, and that the preview currently supports only keyboard and mouse, with controller support planned for later.

[01:02]
Controller Support Challenges

The streamer explains that controller support is more difficult than expected due to the need for extensive menu and inventory adjustments. This is a key reason why it's not available in the current preview, but it is confirmed to be coming in the future.

[03:07]
Seed-Generated World System

The game will feature a seed-generated world system, similar to Terraria or Core Keeper. Players will create a character and then generate a world, allowing characters to be independent and join friends' worlds.

[03:39]
Combat and Inventory Basics

All weapons have two attacks: primary (left click) and secondary (right click). The inventory system separates items into Normal and Quest categories, and items can be equipped by double-clicking. Future plans include full item descriptions with lore.

[06:03]
First-Time Lore Experience

The streamer reveals that he has intentionally avoided all lore and character details during development to experience them for the first time on stream. This is his first time reading the in-game lore, which adds a unique element to the playthrough.

[09:03]
Demo Release Date

The demo will be available on October 20th, but the streamer later corrects this to October 19th, aligning with Steam Next Fest (October 19-26). The early access release is scheduled for October 27th.

[13:18]
Dodge and Weight System

The game features an active dodge and a full weight system. Armor type (light, medium, heavy) changes how the dodge functions, with heavy armor allowing players to damage enemies by dodging into them. Passives can also modify dodge behavior.

[19:58]
Crafting and Estate System

Emberville has a full crafting system and an estate where players can build their own area with crafting stations and farming. A major part of the game involves rebuilding the town, which requires resources.

[22:33]
Mastery and Combo System

The mastery system allows players to learn combos and skills. Masteries are categorized by weapons, armor, gathering, and crafting. Each weapon type must be leveled up by using it, unlocking combos, passives, and special abilities.

[24:16]
Armor-Specific Dash Abilities

Equipping three pieces of medium armor swaps the dash for a roll (faster, covers more distance). Light armor swaps it for a blink (teleport), and heavy armor for a tackle that damages enemies along the way. Mixed sets also have bonuses.

[27:09]
Efficient Gathering

Holding the E key on a mining node will mine it and automatically pick up all drops, eliminating the need to collect items individually. This QOL feature is applied to all gathering actions.

[29:28]
Voice Acting for Lore

The streamer initially states that not all reading material will be voiced, but the CEO confirms that all lore and reading content will be voiced by 1.0. Spoken dialogue is already fully voiced.

[36:00]
Map System

The map is a significant part of the game, though not fully present in the prologue. It will be a dynamic system that players improve throughout the game, revealing areas as they explore.

[41:31]
Crafting Menu and Mechanics

The crafting menu allows players to use materials to create items and gear. Each crafting station has its own recipes, which can be expanded through NPCs, books, quests, and leveling up crafting masteries. Crafting can be queued and completed over time.

[44:15]
Leveling and Stats

Players gain two stat points per level, which can be distributed in the character panel (C). The UI provides tooltips explaining each stat's effect, and future plans include icons for stats.

[50:10]
Voice Cast and Direction

Alex Jordan is the voice director and also voices a character. The cast includes notable names like Nick Apostolidis (Leon Kennedy) and Matt Mercer, brought in by Alex. The streamer helped bring in a foundation of voice actors.

[58:31]
The Mind's Journal

The player finds a Mind's Journal, a device that records experiences. It responds to voice and visual commands, and the player can use it to learn new skills. The voice in the journal is Nick Apostolidis, the voice of Leon Kennedy.

[01:03:11]
Class System

The class system is independent of player level, allowing players to switch classes at any time. There is an inheritable system to bridge skills between classes. Four classes will be available in EA, expanding to 16+ by 1.0.

[01:10:22]
The Vitromedus Prison

The lore reveals that the Vitromedus is an artificial world created as a prison. It's a crystal artifact that traps people, and the energy 'Kenia' brings the dead back to life, making permanent death the ultimate goal for its inhabitants.

[01:18:13]
Recycling and Crafting

The recycling station allows players to break down items into materials. This feeds into the crafting system, which is a major part of the game, especially for creating high-end gear with many modifiers.

[01:25:55]
Difficulty Options

Early access will include difficulty options, allowing players to have an easier experience with fewer mobs if desired. Hardcore modes are planned for 1.0.

[01:26:53]
Item Descriptions and Lore

By 1.0, every item will have a name, a description, and a lore-based attachment. The streamer notes that this is a goal for the full release, not the current demo.

[01:32:34]
Seed-Generated Maps

The main map is seed-generated, similar to Terraria. Players can input a seed to create a unique world. Key areas are handcrafted, while the rest is procedurally generated.

[01:36:16]
Tanisha the Bone Lady

The player meets Tanisha, a cartographer imprisoned in a cell. She has bones protruding from her skin due to repeated, imperfect resurrections. She becomes a key NPC who helps with the map system.

[01:44:22]
Dialogue Choices Matter

The game features dialogue choices that can have consequences. The streamer warns that players should read options carefully, as what you tell villagers can impact the game.

[01:55:26]
End of Prologue Demo

The prologue demo ends after about 45 minutes of content, but the streamer spent nearly two hours exploring. The demo is a preview of the full game, which is set for early access on October 27th.

[01:57:06]
Early Access Details

Early access will include the first biome, its end boss, a few quests, at least three villagers, four weapon types, four classes, and the beginning of the estate system. The price is $30 with a 10% discount during EA.

[01:58:45]
Roadmap to 1.0

The development cycle from EA to 1.0 is estimated at 1.5 to 2 years. 1.0 will feature 20+ voiced villagers, 8 biomes, 16 weapon types, 15+ classes, and a full endgame. Major updates are planned every 3-6 months.

[02:04:35]
Early Access Trailer

The streamer plays the official early access trailer, which outlines the game's premise: waking in the Vitromedus, exploring a broken world, and rebuilding the town of Emberville. The trailer also mentions plans for console, co-op, and modding after 1.0.

The video provides an extensive look at Emberville's prologue, showcasing its core mechanics and rich lore. The streamer's genuine first-time reactions to the story and characters add a unique layer, while the detailed discussion of early access and future plans gives viewers a clear picture of what to expect from the game's development journey.

[00:00] Join me as we check out an early look at the prologue of Emberville. From all of us here at Cygnus Cross, thank you for joining us on this journey.

[00:12] Today, take your first steps into Emberville, the prologue. Explore, investigate, search for clues, and meet some of the interesting locals who call this world home. This is your first look at a much larger adventure. Emberville is still in, I'm going to say, very active development,

[00:26] so you may encounter bugs, unfinished features, and content that is still being worked on. Please note this preview build currently supports keyboard and mouse only. Controller support will be available later in development. We're charging full fee towards our October 27th early access,

[00:38] and we're excited to finally be ensuring that journey with you. Thank you for joining us, and we will see you in Emberville. By the way, I already got some questions about this. Keep in mind, on EA, by early access, we are planning, as far as I know,

[00:50] we're still planning on being Steam Deck verified, so that will work. Um, controller support, it turns out, is not nearly as easy as people think.

[01:02] For a game like ours, there's a lot of menu adjustment, there's a lot of moving around the inventory, and all of that has to be properly done. And I was not aware of how tough that can be, but it's a lot more difficult than you think.

[01:19] Um, so that's one of the reasons we don't have it right now. It is coming for sure. Controller support will be a thing. Okay, got our little settings menu going. Lots of gameplay stuff. We want to give you all of the options in this game.

[01:32] You can see that we're giving... we have our loot filter options already built in. We've got damage numbers. You can have your light bar on or you can change this. A lot of this is from other ARPGs where we wanted to give you options on your UI.

[01:44] All these are also very different demos. So we have key bindings of course if you need to, if you have some accessibility stuff. up. I can't believe they left this in. We have a sound effect for when you are low on

[01:59] health that plays this, like, this, like, tone. And the first time I heard it in development, I was like, is this, are we actually doing this? And they just told me, don't worry,

[02:11] it'll be an option. So I've got to hear what it is now, but we're going to keep it on for We're gonna see what happens. Okay, here we go!

[02:25] Create your character I'm gonna play with my headphones on because the sound in this game is actually really good Alright, so we're gonna go with a male

[02:40] Like this hairstyle Let's go with a nice With a nice big old beard. We will of course be adding lots of character options as the game continues to grow.

[02:55] Looks good. My name's gonna be Ko. Nice. Alright. Here we go.

[03:07] Little bit of a note. Ooh. The game will eventually have a seed-generated world system, which means that when you create your character, the next thing you will do is very much like in Terraria or Courtkeeper,

[03:19] you will then make your world. So the goal will eventually be that the character will be independent from the world, and that way you can join your friend's world on your character, and you can get all that stuff done. Yeah.

[03:39] All weapons in Emberville have two attacks. Use left for primary and right click for secondary. Just don't go around breaking stuff. Got some stones. You collected your first item! Congrats! Collected items will be held in your inventory for Ida Open.

[03:57] This is your inventory. You can see, manage, and equip all collected items in gear here. Items are separated into two categories, Normal and Quest, and those are split into two tabs. split into two tabs. I'll go over it and I need to learn more about it and double clicking will use to equip it

[04:09] and clicking with right click will show special options. Eventually all items will have descriptions. Fully written out descriptions. That was one of the things we're going to do. So every item will eventually have a little lore bit to it.

[04:21] Right now it's not quite yet. Turn the camera or the candle off. That's a rude, rude table. Oh, we got a chest! We got some broken, rustic copper knuckles. 15 to 18, an attack rate of 1. We also got some healing potions.

[04:41] Let's go down in our healing there. Oh, another healing potion there. Awesome. Another thing that will eventually be added is if you mouse over the loot log, it'll bring up the item there.

[04:54] Hidden chest. Let's equip that. So we got a broken beggar's cuirass. some broken beggars legs, I'll just get some gold I think that makes some gold

[05:08] alright let's keep moving let's get in here

[05:20] uh, we got an... a locked door so... let's break it down oh let me move over so you guys can see the there you go

[05:32] see that a little bit great oh so now we have a a copper sword it does a little bit less damage and it's a little slower so I think we'll keep our fists for now

[05:50] oh now important to mention up until this point I have never read any of the lore or fully listened to any of the characters. This is the first time I have ever read through these.

[06:03] Part of me joining this project was that I wasn't going to know about the lore or characters until I actually got to stream it. So I would have something to see the first time I ever stream it. So I'm reading this for the first time. I hope it's good.

[06:15] All right, here we go. My young apprentice. Apologies for not addressing you by name. My memory is becoming less reliable by the day. a problem that keeps me awake at night. Sometimes I cannot even wield a sword proficiently,

[06:28] as if it were a strange object in my hand. I'm sure this has happened to you at least once. Nevertheless, all is not lost. I heard rumors about a place called Crystal Archways, in which a myriad of marvelous minerals grow in capricious forms. It is said that they react to external influences,

[06:41] producing soothing sounds almost like natural music. I plan to visit this place at T. News Crystal to study them further. I have an idea to construct a unique type of journal to keep my memories afloat, in case I fully lose my mind. We will discuss the possibility of you accessing it once it is finished, so you can learn from it even during my absence.

[06:59] I'll be back in a few weeks. Focus on your studies as if I were at your side, your master. So that writing is in a house that has clearly been abandoned. That's fine.

[07:11] Okay. Raw steak in a box. Hell yeah. Gotta look for chests and stuff behind things, because I know the devs have warned me they could come on in here for this playtest.

[07:31] I'll find it. I will find your chests, devs! How does the weapon system work? Let me show you. Oh, actually, you know what? We don't have a deck. I'll show you in a minute.

[07:43] To all acolytes at this outpost, lately these fungi-covered spiders have become a nuisance, showing up in our food stores and feasting on anything that moves. Regardless of how many we dispatch, more and more appear every day.

[07:56] Our suspicion of a matriarch proved correct as we discovered that one made a rather gruesome lair in the northern tunnels. Her hunger is insatiable, and she will not hesitate to devour intruders. Do not try to take her down, as she has grown too large and dangerous, probably impervious

[08:09] to feeble weapons. We will discuss further action with the apothecaries as we may have a way to block the entrance to her den and trap her within. For the moment, that section is off-limits.

[08:23] Do you have to go around breaking everything? No. You can do whatever you want. A broken, rustic copper staff. That is a magic staff.

[08:35] You also have an ordinary small bag, increases inventory size by four, and adds some dodge chance. Nice. You say tomato, chat.

[08:48] I say softwood. Lost state. All right. When is this demo going to be available? October 20th for you guys.

[09:03] You're a kid. By order of Mordaxius, the true master of the Acolytes, your life must remain vanquished. Don't resist. It'll be quicker that way.

[09:19] I had not heard that V.A. before. Oh, that's good. That's real good. Nice. Okay. Yeah, for the record, there are more than a few things that I have designed or helped design

[09:35] that I have not seen in the game yet. They specifically wanted to save those for this demo so I'd see them for the first time. So like the disassembly system, I helped design that system. I've never seen it in the game. We're going to see it for the first time. So there's a lot of very fun things in here.

[09:49] This is one of the fun parts about working with this dev team. They play with the fact that I'm a streamer. So it's been really fun. All right, find out what this place is.

[10:01] You've got your first quest. The current quest will always be pinned to the right side of your screen. Press J to open the journal and read your quest. This is the journal. Here you will find information about your quest. You can help decide which quest you would like to track them by pitting and unpitting them by clicking the star beside them.

[10:14] By the way, you don't need the tutorials. We will allow you to turn off the tutorials if you don't want them, but there's going to be a lot of people playing this game that have never played a game like this before, so we wanted to make the experience as easy as possible to onboard them.

[10:27] Yep. So we have the Endless Tunnels quest. Oh see now I'm using a staff. So my staff attack is much much smaller than my fist attack you can see.

[10:44] But the staff has a bonus. The fist on the other hand has a main attack and an alt attack which goes a little bit further. It's more of a kick. You can see the kick animation and then the punch animation.

[10:59] So every attack has its own unique animation, regardless of primers. Secondary, that's the secondary attack on the sword, that's the primary attack, and we're going to talk a lot more about those soon.

[11:12] I don't think we've actually unlocked the skills for these yet, so you will see that in a second. Sabato! Week 1. I'm starting this log to record the activities in this section of the tunnels.

[11:26] Our master asked us to secure the nearby Vitormentus waypoint. I arrived with a group of acolytes to set up an outpost. Week two. The construction of the outpost is proceeding without issues. We received more supplies from our allies. Week three. Today's group of scavengers attacked us,

[11:38] intending to secure the waypoint. Intending to secure the waypoint. It was only a small party, so the fight was short and bloody. Their Kenya was meaningless, yet precious. Week four. I set aside a room as my personal study. I will need to bring my chemical tools to work properly.

[11:51] Week five. Another scavenger incursion. They are growing bold. Week six, the master arrived today. What an honor. He confided in me that he would soon attempt a breakout alongside a large group of acolytes. Preparations are in order.

[12:03] Week seven, an exploring party came today with a wounded acolyte. It appears that he was caught under a landslide and suffered serious injuries. Not even the Kenia can ease his agony after restoring his body.

[12:15] The master personally asked me to resolve this matter. We suffered another scavenger incursion today. We managed to secure several pieces of steel armor from them. I'm still working on a way to help the wounded acolyte. Week 9, I've experimented with animating a gauntlet by fusing it with Kenya.

[12:28] I can only achieve minor reactions. I must keep researching. Oh, thank you. By the way, the CEO of the company is hanging out in chat.

[12:40] He actually just mentioned, I'm sorry, I've been saying October 20th for the demo. By the way, demo is on Steam Next Fest from October 19th to October 26th. So you have to get here a day early. Yeah. So thank you, Bryn.

[12:52] so it is going to be coming on October 19th. You will be able to play this demo that I'm playing now updated on the 19th. Yeah.

[13:04] Anything in here to read or look at? Just some old software. Alright, let's see. Is there a dodge? Yeah, yeah. There's an active dodge.

[13:18] And what's cool is there's not only an active dodge, but we also have a full weight system. So depending on your armor, and there's light, medium, and heavy armor, it changes how your dodge functions.

[13:31] So if you have full heavy armor on, and you dodge into an enemy, you're so heavy that you're going to do things to that enemy. So there's also things, there's passes and stuff that can change how your dodge functions as well.

[13:45] Oh, hi, chicken. Sorry, chicken. You can hear... you can hear the swinging pails. And that's fun. Why didn't that

[14:03] chicken drop meat? That's a great question. I'm gonna go fire the Dev Team. Yep. Should've dropped meat. What happens if you kill every chicken? Well obviously the secret

[14:19] chicken level. Ordinary rustic ranger cap. You can see when we mouse over it, it's adding a lot to our weight. Eventually you'll be able, by the way, to mouse over this and you'll see all the effects that weight has on you. I believe

[14:32] right now it just does our movement speed, but it's gonna play into your dodge and stuff later. All lights can be turned on and off in the game, because... why not?

[14:44] because that's how they work IRL. Okay. Okay.

[14:57] This is a preview of a preview. That's right. That's right, friend. A preview of a preview. I don't see any notes or things to read on the wall.

[15:11] Like that suit armor. one thing we are going to do also in the future is if you see an item on the ground like that we're going to allow you to pick it up that's that's something that's uh in production as well

[15:26] all right let's keep exploring these houses see if there's anything else to read down here another healing pot awesome Hey, Mayroo.

[15:40] I'm missing so much chat, guys. I'm sorry. I'm digging this. What engine are we using? This is a Unity game. Yep.

[15:52] Okay. Both doing good. Oh, gun to the chest. Ooh. Okay. So we got... Let's just take all here. 40 people have locked up with the 12 years today.

[16:08] Getting close to 12 years. Thank you, man. Jeez. All right, let's try the both a little bit.

[16:20] Nice. Can I turn off screen shake? Sure. Okay.

[16:32] Great. All the chicken AI does is run. So he was probably trying to find a path.

[16:48] Why are we killing chickens? Because they're delicious. Grab all of you.

[17:02] Great. Do you have to destroy everything? No, not at all. You don't have to destroy anything at all. If you don't want to, you can just run to the boss. But, I mean, there's loot and things.

[17:17] So, there's that. Okay. Oh, we can destroy the beds now, too? Okay. Uh, don't...

[17:32] Oh, look at that! Hidden chest. Nice. Take all that. Is the inventory stuff done? Um, so the inventory stuff is close to done.

[17:45] Okay. We are going to add, um, more... A little goblin. Oh, God. Goblin these loot. It's loot. It's a loot. It's loot goblin. That's the voice director of the project, by the way. So eventually you can sort and everything for now, but we're going to be doing some more work on cleaning up how you can sort the inventory.

[18:04] These buttons are getting redone to make them a bit more obvious what they do, stuff like that. So we have a lot of plans to streamline the loot system through EA, and that's pretty much what we're doing right now.

[18:21] So we already have a very good amount of QL already. Like I was talking about earlier, we have a loot log on the right. Eventually you'll be able to mouse over and like look at the loot, out on the loot log, equip it immediately if you want to. Just nice ease of use stuff.

[18:41] Love the water when you get near it. Okay, got some ivy. Another chicken. Hey chicken. Let's grab some tubers.

[18:53] Broken Leather Belt increases the belt size by one. So we just unlocked a second spot for a consumable. Now, in the prologue of the demo, the stuff you're going to see down here is pretty much

[19:05] just going to be healing items and consumables. But as you notice up here, we have trinket slots, very similar to kind of like how trinkets work in Terraria. And we're also going to have consumables that are not just for healing and teaming and stuff.

[19:17] We're planning on, as the game continues to grow in EA, there's going to become more and more many many different things you can use these slots for. Oh man.

[19:33] We've got a chest here. An empty chest. I'll go by this. Empty chest.

[19:46] What is he doing with all this wooden stuff?

[19:58] So this game has a full crafting system. Obviously, you're not going to see much of that in the prologue demo because it's just the beginning of the game. But this game not only has a full crafting system, but it also has an estate where you get to build your own little area

[20:10] with crafting engines and it has farming so you can make food for yourself, stuff like that. And then you also have houses that you need to rebuild. A big part of the game is rebuilding the town, and that takes resources.

[20:22] So you're actually rebuilding houses and taverns and workshops. So all of that takes resources. Will there be music? There is music in the game, but in the starting area, we took a more ambient approach.

[20:34] So I don't know if you can hear it as well as I do, but there's a whole lot going on, like a whole lot of ambient stuff going on in the background. You can like hear the water if you get near it.

[20:49] You hear bugs if you get close to them. If you walk up to like a swinging pail.

[21:01] Stuff like that. One second chat. Okay. So I'm going to go ahead and time you out, Curtis, because you've been saying the whole time you wanted me to play.

[21:16] Bro, I've been working on this game for three years. I'm very excited to show this to you. I'm going to take it slow and take my time. There's going to be lots of people streaming this in about 30 minutes. So go watch one of them if you want somebody like totally.

[21:28] I'm relishing this, my man. I'm sorry. We're taking our time. But sitting there going, play more, play more. Get, go, go. I'm talking. That's not going to work, bro. You've encountered your first enemy.

[21:43] You may be eager to attack it, but it's best to avoid being hit. You can do that by dashing away from the enemy with space. Pay close attention to the cooldown. And in classic streamer format, what's the button you have to press?

[21:56] Let's go! That's right. You've been hit and lost some health points.

[22:08] That's not good. You can recover HP by using a potion or a consumable. Health recovery items can be directly used from your inventory, but the best way to use them is putting them on your belt and using the shortcut. By the way, the buttons right now are F keys.

[22:20] We're already going to read that. We're just trying to decide the best ones to change it to. Yeah, the F keys are a little weird for the consumables, but we don't. Here we go! Mastery! You have learned your first mastery and without a combo.

[22:33] To perform a combo, you must use the select sequences of inputs to unleash this special attack. Open the masteries with K and learn how to perform your first combo. This is a system that I designed, help designed. This is the masteries and combat system.

[22:47] In this menu you can see information for both combat and non-combat proficiencies. Masteries are a knowledge of a particular skill or ability that are displayed in separate tabs by category. Weapons, armor, gathering, crafting. You can check the skills of the mastery and combo sequence here as well.

[23:01] Search for your newly learned combo and give it a shot. So these are the weapon types that will be available in Emberville by 1.0. You see a little bit of a teaser of them, and you also see some spaces. Wonder what that means.

[23:15] Every single one of these weapon types, you have to level up by using them. You cannot buy, currently, anything like this. You have to actually level them up. level them up. As you level up the masteries, they gain levels in their skill, and that

[23:29] unlocks combos, that unlocks passives, that unlocks special things, and in some cases unlocks some very, very cool stuff in terms of how it relates to other mechanics, but we will talk about that later. On top of that, not only does every weapon have its own animations,

[23:47] full lines, three different combos that we may expand in the future as well, but they also all have their own passes, icons, all that's been done by our amazing art team. They have been absolutely slaying it. So you don't have to get more information, and like you can see if you mouse over combo,

[24:02] it shows you exactly what that combo is, how it functions. It's very cool stuff. So on top of that, we also have the armor. Leveling up your armor is ways that you will get better at wearing it. It will be bonuses. Eventually, you can see here, you get like the roll.

[24:16] so after you've used medium armor enough, then you get the roll. While the player is equipped with three pieces of medium armor, the dash is swapped by a roll which is faster and covers more distance. While the player is equipped with three pieces of

[24:32] light armor, the dash is swapped to a blink which then teleports the player a short distance. That's for light armor. And then if you want to go full tank, while the player is equipped with three pieces of heavy armor, the dash is equipped with

[24:44] tackle an evasion move that hits all enemies along the way. So you can actually like dash towards an enemy and like damage everyone on the way and then start wailing on the guy that is your target. It's awesome. And then there's of course a mix section because we

[24:58] know that some people are not going to want to go one armor set so we're going to actually have bonuses for when you don't have a dedicated armor set. Then we have all of our different These are our different harvesting things you're going to be able to do in the game.

[25:13] And then we have our crafting system. Alchemy, armor-smithing, carpentry, cooking, jewel-crafting, leather-working, tailoring, and weapons-smithing. Mm-hmm. Oh, you know what?

[25:30] I don't know why only some of those are showing. Let's do automatic for enemy and always on for a gun. Perfect. So the big guys are more, these are kind of like henchmen.

[25:43] Is that what you were going to think about them? You can see the little guys alone, but most of the time they're flanked by a larger primary. That's good.

[25:59] Oh, speaking of which, so if you have headphones on, listen to this projectile. The audio goes from one ear to the other as it passes.

[26:19] Pretty awesome. Now, one of the things that I neglected to do when I was in my little masteries menu is look at the combo we have.

[26:31] So we have unlocked the spinning flash combo, which is a much larger sword attack that does 160% damage. It's a left click, left click, right click. So if I were to do that before, it just would have gone like this.

[26:44] Actually, I can't show you because there's no timer between the things, but that is now our heavy attack. So now if we do right click, it's just this. If we do left click, it's just this. But if we do the combo, now it does this.

[26:57] Oh, I don't want to be there. There it is. Boom. Lovely. If you just hold E on a mining node and you keep it held,

[27:09] it mines the node and picks up every single item that came out of it. You do not have to pick up every item individually. You just walk up, hold down the E key, and it fits it all up.

[27:24] Yeah. Of course, Lee. You can kind of hear some of the music in the background now. It's starting to pick up a little bit.

[27:42] Since our early days inside the prison known as the Petromedus, we have searched for numerous ways to keep track of time. With no way to see the sun or stars, and not even the tides of the sea to guide us, we usually just resorted to carving marks on pieces of wood after our sleep and trying

[27:55] to compare them with the rest of the group. Making logs and journals used to be the most common way of keeping track of our memories and movements. Ironically, many of our companions were not smart enough to write them properly. Furthermore, the required materials were sometimes scarce. It took us a while to find a definitive and affordable way of tracking time.

[28:09] The fauna and flora of the Petromedas are not only varied, but also most peculiar. For example, bioluminescent animals are common, providing us with lights in a multitude of bright colors. Some aquatic species, like the anglerfish, are kept in tanks to provide room for the natural glow. But what about keeping time? I discovered a type of cave mushroom

[28:26] that developed a phosphorescent tone, allowing it to glow in the dark. I noticed it has a cycle that changes its color from red to green, which at first I thought was random. After the tedious task of timing its change, I discovered it lasts for exactly 12 hours, allowing us

[28:38] to precisely count the days inside the prison. I decided to call it Horolofungi. Nice. Being Being a devoted botanist for most of my life, I have witnessed countless species of plants and fungi, but this one is completely new to me.

[28:51] Judging by the precision of its changes, I dare to say the creator of the Potomac has designed it specifically for that purpose. Or this was meant by its sincere act of decency towards the prisoners, or simply its way of reaching perfection. I'll leave that for you to decide, dear reader.

[29:04] So we just got a light armor superior rustic apprentice coat. Oh god.

[29:16] And some adventure streets. And that guy is trying to attack.

[29:28] Will the lore, will the reading stuff be voice? Um, we're still deciding that. I don't think a lot of the reading stuff will be voiced in EA, but all of the spoken dialogue is voiced.

[29:40] So, the reading may say is reading, but anything a character says is voiced. Yeah. That being said, we may end up eventually...

[29:52] This is one of those beautiful things. Oh, oh, Brynn is saying, okay, so the CEO is saying, all reading is voiced in lore. So there you go.

[30:05] That's from the man himself. So Brynn, just to be clear, all of these books are going to be voiced in, that's going to be by 1.0, right? Not EA, I'm guessing. But he'll know the answer.

[30:17] That's awesome. Love it. Love it. Last Me and Him talk, that was something we were still discussing, so that's really good news. I think it says, by EA. Okay, there we go. We're already here first, chat.

[30:39] Okay. Voiced by Co. Force Co. to read it. Hey, Coe does whatever Coe needs to do. But I think it's all right. If he's already working on it, that probably means they're already working on it.

[30:51] Yeah. Who's saying it's almost all recorded? Okay, great. Perfect. Oh, we just got a good rustic adventure helmet.

[31:03] All right, okay. What do we got here? Strength damage and global effects chance up. Okay, we're going to lose 5% drop chance. That's okay. We'll pop that on.

[31:15] Actually, I'm going to keep that drop chance on. Okay. To all acolytes guarding this outpost, with great sorrow,

[31:27] I must reveal to you that one of our own is to trade us, abandoning our side to find a dark path by herself. To Nacia, the woman known as the Bone Lady, was trapped stealing precious resources to lead the outpost to the waypoint.

[31:39] Until we decide her fate, she will remain captured and imprisoned. A warning to all, stay away from her, since she has profound knowledge of the kingdom with a sharp tongue that can enthrall even the most stoic of warriors. Do not attempt to unravel her past or her motives. It will be a task left for our master when she has the time to attend to this grave matter.

[31:55] More Dax here. More Dax.

[32:07] When is this game going to be available? This game will be, the demo is on the 19th and early access is the 27th if you are wanting to check it out. Do a quick easy sort there. Now I'm thinking here, this is a significant amount more damage. We don't have a combo for it yet.

[32:22] We're going to check that out. Is there dual wielding? No. Are there mage options? Yes.

[32:39] Yeah we haven gotten to classes yet Hold tight No thanks hold tight oh no thanks

[32:51] don't need exploding deathbugs oh a green sword though and it's really good alright we're doing that oh and a shield great

[33:05] uh Mazora thank you so much buddy I appreciate that 44 months dude. Alright everything's looking good here. So we've already cleared this area from earlier. Now we're gonna get this.

[33:23] Grab all that stone. Let's go up. I'm going to go ahead and pop our health there.

[33:41] Okay. Okay.

[33:54] No! I was trying to beat him before I got that hit. This wasn't there, chat. We got two health. Oh. This area looks like a suitable place to get materials. Materials like minerals, stone, leather, wood, and plants can be found all throughout the world and can be used to craft items and gear.

[34:09] Try getting close to a plant tree or mine and press E to collect some minerals. We're going to add another line under this. Hold E to mine the vein and also collect all the drops as well.

[34:22] So on everything you do, if you just hold down E, then it will automatically do that and automatically pick it all up. We're going to make it so it all falls in range.

[34:34] What's the level up button down here? The level up button down here shows you when you've gained a level in a certain type of skill. So in this case, our level up was right here. So our basic medium armor is now at level 5 and we've obtained players get plus 3 defense while fully equipped with medium armor.

[34:50] So we're still working on the notifications and getting to the notifications quicker. So like what we're going to do is for instance, you saw that down there, we're going to make it so when you click that, it opens up and highlights the exact thing that leveled up.

[35:06] So that's the kind of stuff that we'll fine tune in EA. mm-hmm there's still although we do have a lot in so far we still have a lot of

[35:19] planned QOL but not in the game yet and that will come all during the game QOL is awesome making sure the game is named is more important

[35:33] that's kind of where we are with that Alright, let's go down here. Beautiful. Let's look over here.

[35:47] Oh, that just takes us back to this area. Perfect. Is there going to be a map?

[36:00] Yes. So the map is a big part of the game and it's not really in the prologue but it is something that comes a little bit later and it's something that you're constantly making better throughout the course of the game.

[36:16] You have to see another little thing. Like normally when you beat these all of the nodes will fall within the range of your auto pick up. Little ones aren't right now. If that makes sense. This one is dodge chance and skill damage bonus for a little bit extra

[36:31] defense. We're just going to take that in mind. Since we're only doing the pro-log demo, I'm not going to worry about harvesting all of these points. Fishing is not in the game yet, but we have plans for a very fun fishing trip.

[36:48] Will the game be moddable? The game will be moddable by 1.0. We do have plans to mod support by 1.0. That will come during the EA progress. Looks like it's fishing time.

[37:05] Many years ago, I was taken prisoner and judged for my crimes. I don't recall exactly why, but I think I stole a fish. A lousy fish. Just to feed my family. Or was it a piece of meat? It matters not. The scavengers were growing bold, overrunning our land so we had no food.

[37:18] I was desperate. I remember something amiss about my executioner. Hatred consumed him. He never listened to my pleas or even tried to understand my situation. I begged them for mercy or at least some help caring for my family, but I was denied even that.

[37:30] Immediately, I was thrown into the Petromedus to live the rest of my life. I miss my loved ones every day, although I don't remember their faces anymore, nor what I once felt for them. In any case, I'm probably dust by now. What we once thought was a blessing ended up being our greatest curse.

[37:44] What a gift it was, never fearing death, pain, or hunger, to die and then be back in no time, feeling like your stomach was full and your wounds were healed. How naive we were back then. My body is now broken. A landslide caught me, but something went wrong during my resurrection.

[37:57] My bones somehow feel fused together and now tear my flesh apart all day. The pain is endless, and I find no respite in death, rested in death. I tried. I even slit my throat just to end it all, yet came back the same way.

[38:12] The Master knows and wants to help me, but I fear not even he can fix me. There is no solace or freedom for me, only suffering. Damn.

[38:26] That's pretty dark. I like it. Maybe that's about Tenacia. Good show. Does she have all those bones poking out of her skin? Ew.

[38:39] Interesting. I think she's died a bunch of times. Oh. Oh, that's the first time I've read that. Yeah, for the record, there's been one aspect of this game that I have not had access to during the development.

[38:53] And that is the lore and the spoken dialogue. That was part of me joining this game, is that I wanted to make this game, but I also wanted to stream this game. So I can't stream the game if I know everything about it.

[39:06] So from the very beginning of this project, I don't know the characters and I don't know the lore. So the stuff I'm reading today, it's the first time I've ever read it. When we go talk to Tanishia and hear every line, that's going to be one of the first times I've ever heard her be owned. So, yeah, it's kind of exciting.

[39:20] Not all everything else is pretty much out of hand and design, in some degree. So pretty much everything else except the lore and VO.

[39:36] Oooh, a superior large bag. So now we have even more extra slots. This one also adds defense, global effect resist, and crit chance. Nice. We'll take all of those things.

[39:49] Go ahead. Uh, Mira Bullis says, Hey guys, how are you all? Enjoyed the game so far. We all in the dev team are very happy to be able to present this to you. I hope you have a great time as we did working on it. That is from Mira, who is Tiago,

[40:04] who is the lead, the game director of Emberville. So, appreciate you being here Tiago. This has been amazing so far, man. This has been very, very nice. Yep.

[40:16] Great work on that. Also, shout out to Mira and the team. They did some updates last night to try to get a feature in that I haven't seen yet, but I really want to see in the demo, and we're going to see that feature in a little bit. But by putting it in, unfortunately, a bug was created.

[40:31] So one of the reasons I didn't stream this at 8 a.m. was because the team was frantically working, fixing that bug so we could stream it at 9. So thank you, guys! I really appreciate that. And it's running great.

[40:44] So, clearly they did it well. Here we go.

[41:07] You find a crystal of swirling colors that emits a placid humming sound which appears to be some kind of message but you cannot understand it. No matter how much you try, you cannot obtain any type of response from the object.

[41:19] You decide to keep it safely in your backpack in case you find someone who can tell you something about it.

[41:31] Okay. Figure out what this place is and find someone who knows more about the sphere. Oh! So this means we can do something with it. This is the crafting menu and here you can make use, you can use materials to make items

[41:46] and gear. Each crafting station has its own recipes which may be limited early on. You can learn more recipes from NPCs, books, quests and leveling up the corresponding crafting mastery. Try crafting something now. So what I'm going to do is take the 13 roasted meats I had, or actually we're going to do

[42:01] it five at a time, but we're going to do some meat creation here. So you can see that not only fills up in here which we can just take it, but if you exit out you can see what's crafting and how it continues to craft and then when it's

[42:13] done you just pick them up. Wonderful. Nice and easy. So we foresee a world where your estate has you know rows of the crafting stuff you want, has the

[42:25] smelters, all the things, you can queue up after crafting, go into the metromedas, do some adventuring, come back, all your stuff's done, that kind of thing. Now that we have the cooked meat, let's put the cooked meat down there for now.

[42:40] Actually, let's go ahead and finish this up. We're still playing with the 5 and 5 system. We may have it so you can just queue up like endless and it just fills and unfills the 5 slot,

[42:55] but we're still deciding exactly how we want that to work. That's one of the things that, you know, EA will come out and we'll see what you guys like and don't like and we'll change the system from there. Ow! Did I get poisoned? Oh, I got poisoned.

[43:12] Ugh. This guy sucks. Alright, I've got a little trap action in here.

[43:32] Do the traps hurt? Yes! Oh, these are floaties!

[43:44] Oh, you too! There we go. Toxic Glam. Fun.

[43:56] That looks great. Awesome. Oh. Ow!

[44:15] Hell yeah. You have leveled up. Whenever you accumulate enough experience points, you level up. You will receive two stat points to improve your abilities with every new level. Open the character panel and character stats with C and distribute your stat points.

[44:28] This is your character screen. In here, you'll find information about your character. Hover over each stat to learn more. Oh, did that make it in? It did! Great! So these toolkits are something that we've been working on for

[44:41] a while but they haven't been in the demo yet. I didn't know if these would be in the demo, but that's great. So it tells you exactly what everything does, which I really like. So you can mouse over any of these and it tells you what it does. I do think we have future plans to eventually have icons associated with all these stats as well, but I don't think

[44:56] that's going to be it. Yeah. Let's see, we're doing mostly a strength run. That shows us exactly what goes up whenever we do a stat so we'll be one point in strength we have to one point in strength and then we'll do one point in stamina you

[45:13] can see up here the max health and defense is going up now we got by the way kind of came in suddenly but now we got some music in the background

[45:31] Alright, let's see what we got. Yeah. Let's go ahead and get a better helmet. I think we can use it.

[45:46] What is luck effect? Luck effect, crit chance, counter attack chance, and block chance, and increases chance, and quality of drop. Yeah, you can hide all of your armor if you want, by the way.

[45:58] So if you have like a cosmetic, you really like it. Then you can hide that and change it however you'd like.

[46:14] Ooh, a good rustic copper staff and a better breastplate. There we go. Oh, that's much better. Let's put that on. All right, inventory's getting a little full.

[46:26] That's okay. We're working on it. Curtis, hey, no problem, man. Appreciate your free, dude. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. I know you're excited too, so I appreciate it. Will there be an option to change the font? We are working on a potential better readability font, like an accessibility font.

[46:42] That's a little, that's a very hard thing to do, with as much text as there is in the game, but that is something we're working on, yeah. A larger font is something that we can't really change, just because of the game.

[46:55] But I'm afraid the CEO can talk more about that in chat if he's still here. Yeah, we do, when the game hits 1.0, we want to be able that as many people that can can play. So we're big about accessibility options, we're big about making sure that that's, it's how people need it, essentially.

[47:11] Ooh, look at this little area. I don't come down here very often. What's this? My friend! I hope the sweater managed to reach your eyes, as it took most of my coin to find someone brave enough to bring it to you.

[47:24] I finally located Eerabean. It's real, the legends were true. If only you could see its beauty. The edge is slightly curved and always shining, and it has a pickaxe on the other side. I concluded it's for smashing the tunneler's tightness plate before carving them up at the edge.

[47:40] Klagman was skilled and smart, that's for sure. She left a message engraved in the metal, but I can't read it until I have it in my hands. A group of guards currently holds the weapon. It seems it was found by a grave robber who now charged it with other crimes,

[47:52] and they took the axe from him. Their superior is demanding that they send the criminal into a magical prison alongside the weapon. For what reason he's willing to send someone into a cell armed, I don't know.

[48:04] Nevertheless, it's clear that to recover Iribene, I'll have to infiltrate this prison and take it back from this man. If you don't hear from me in the next season, then it means I've failed and I'm now feeding the earth. But if this letter reaches you, then at least I'll die knowing that my people learn the truth about Iribene.

[48:19] May bird school, bird stool guide your spirit. Guide truth. Dang. Okay. I have no idea what I'm doing. That's not cool.

[48:32] Uh, okay. What can you do? We can have console tips by 1.0. Mm-hmm.

[48:44] Cochlearix says, I appreciate the style choice, but the font should never actually be as pixelated as the game. That's a good point. Yeah, absolutely. Okay.

[49:01] Yeah, great. We opened the inventory and went over all this stuff. Yeah. We went through all this and we talked about that. Yeah. Okay.

[49:16] Oh, wait. Bren is saying something else. Hold on. I don't want this poor man to figure getting beat up. Oh, okay.

[49:29] As you wipe the viscous remains of your enemies from your weapon, your attention turns to the man you just saved. He looks so old that you find it impossible to guess his age.

[49:41] So agitated, his eyes meet yours, and in them you can glimpse a vast sagacity mixed with a perpetual state of confusion. Thank you. for your timely aid, Acolyte. Those nasty experiments are becoming a real nuisance.

[49:56] I'm no Acolyte, old man. My name is Toad. Well, you certainly look like one. I am Adeos. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Hi, Alex. Is this getting voiced?

[50:10] Oh, yeah. There we go. We'll cover this, uh, the statue over there. Where do you come from? I do not recall seeing you around these parts.

[50:24] This is Alex Jordan, who is the lead in The Altars. If you've ever played The Altars, he does all the voices in The Altars. He's also done tons of other projects. He's also in Wuthering Waves, if you've played that. He is also the voice director of the project.

[50:39] So he is not only doing this voice, but he actually directed all the other voice work in the game. And it's the first game he's ever done in him. We're honored to have it like that, and he has been amazing.

[50:52] Okay. Nor do I. I woke up in a cot with no idea of who or where I am. Yes. Yes, that happens around here. You should start a journal.

[51:05] It is common for most outlaws to keep one. Those memories are a luxury in this place. There he is right now, tuning in from the airport. Just tuning in from the airport. Alex, this is incredible.

[51:17] be just amazing. Good timing also. Okay. Phil, if you have any questions, I may be able to shake some of your shoes.

[51:30] It is the least I can do after your heroic arrival. Who are these athletes that you keep talking about? Generations ago, a man known as the Master learned to detect and control the energy

[51:44] that permeates the latrometer. and keeps bringing back the dead. He called it Pumir, the life force. Over the years,

[51:57] he shared his knowledge and power with others who became his dutiful students and followers. In time, they branded themselves acolytes and pursued learning and wisdom

[52:10] and their presentation everywhere they went. You mentioned the Vatromus. Is that what this place is called? Indeed. That is where you are, wanderer.

[52:22] An artificial world intended as a prison in which miscreants and wrongdoers may spend their remaining years in solemn repentance, surviving by any means they see fit.

[52:37] Oh, dude, this is a great question. Is that the Alex Jordan also known for his role as Sucks Noises in D.D. Creed? Yes, it is the Alex Jordan who voiced every male sex noise in the critically acclaimed hit Baldur's Gate 3.

[52:54] So if you have ever had sex in Baldur's Gate 3, then you have an intimate relationship with my voice director. Yes. Enjoy.

[53:06] All right. What do you know about the Detromeda? It was designed by a man who was a man with power. and used his creation for selfish purposes.

[53:19] Many innocents were thrown inside, forced to survive amongst the worst elements of a once great society. Oh, this is so good! Keep in mind, I've never heard these lines.

[53:31] I've had to skip through these. Every time I've played this demo a hundred times, I've never got to hear these lines. They're so good. By the time the influence of Khmer emerged, and death became meaningless.

[53:46] A myriad of groups and villages were already formed and a unique world was born. One in which personal recollections are the luxury and permanent death the ultimate goal.

[54:00] Oh, damn. So everyone in here was just trying to die. Read letters, books, and documents. The history of the Vitromitus and its darker secrets

[54:12] will be revealed to you, if you know where to look. What do you mean by death is the ultimate goal? Well, because of the influence of K'nir, of course.

[54:25] Since its discovery many decades ago, those who die do not remain still for long. Instead, they return to life as if nothing happened.

[54:37] Just like what happened to us in the beginning. After many decades, The effects on one's mind can be quite devastating, I assure you. For that reason, many of the Vatromatis as well as seek a way to find eternal peace.

[54:55] To no avail. Is there any way to escape? Not that I know of, as it was designed to be unbreakable. Oh, to tell you the truth, I was not really paying.

[55:08] Not at all, though I have heard that recently a group of afterlives attempted an escape, and something went wrong in the process. Ah, to tell you the truth, I was not really paying attention to those events.

[55:23] I had plenty to occupy my mind without bothering myself with futile exercises. Tell me more about this energy here. An accursed thing. It is a residual energy created by the emotions, especially negative ones, of the residents of the Vetrometers.

[55:42] It has the power to bring back the dead and heal their wounds, among other less conventional applications. It also has the particular effect of combining living matter to recompose the body,

[55:57] turning many of the fallen into strange hybrids with few remnants of their former humanity. Oh. I do not trust its power, so I try to avoid it.

[56:13] Alas, even when my age and frail health finally put me in the ground, it will bring me back nonetheless. Dude, I have so many questions about this.

[56:25] Like, I can't wait to see what the... Okay, I see some people chatting, like, how the hell does he not know this stuff already? I have been on a total blackout for the lore and characters, so I don't know any of this stuff. And I'm immediately hearing this and getting all sorts of questions.

[56:39] Like, what happens when someone gets so old? Because apparently they're aging in here. So what happens when someone gets so old they die naturally? Do they come back to life and then just keep dying? Like, because they're naturally dying?

[56:52] Or do they come back and then they get to live longer? Like, I have so many questions. Okay, I can't wait to see this. Anyway, let's go. It is quite frustrating. You seem knowledgeable regarding arcane trinkets.

[57:04] I found this strange orb. Do you have any idea what it is? Could that be? My friend, you have stumbled upon something magnificent.

[57:16] That is the Mind's Journal. A device meant to record the experiences of a person. Our master, an acolyte of great wisdom, created it so he could preserve his weakening memories.

[57:33] I thought it was lost forever. Do you think I could use it? It seems intriguing. Unfortunately, its secrets were reserved for the master alone. Although I do know that it responded to voice and visual commands.

[57:47] however, the gleam in your eyes tells me you know how to wield Kinear why not try to focus your energies into the orb

[57:59] ask your questions out loud and perhaps it will activate its owner accumulated a myriad of skills in his many lives you may even be able to learn new fighting techniques

[58:13] if that is your desire Come back and share your findings with me afterward, if you can. I am most curious about the wisdom it may hold.

[58:31] Use the Mind Journal in your inventory. You grab the crystal ball with both hands, hypnotized by its swirling colors.

[58:44] As your gaze becomes entangled with them, you begin to lose your sense of time and space, submerged in a dreamlike state. You call out to the orb, wondering if it can aid your combat prowess.

[58:56] Shortly after, an unfamiliar face forms within its depth and speaks in a calm, clear voice. I have never heard these lines, and I'm going to tell you who it is at the end, but I cannot wait for this.

[59:08] You are now accessing the martial arts records. During my lifetime, I mastered various weapons and skills. Many have been forgotten by time, but preserved through this arcane device.

[59:21] Is that Matt Mercer? No. No, it's not. Which proficiency do you wish to learn? Who are you? I am you. Your name is Jusios. You are trapped in a prison called the Batrometus.

[59:36] A mystical force you saw fit to name Kimia keeps you and your brethren alive. returning you from death in an eternal cycle. This causes your memories to become faulty. You created this journal through magic and craftsmanship to preserve them,

[59:51] as many skills acquired over your lifetime had already vanished into nothingness. If you wish to access a specific record, you need only ask. Do you mean my name is Deucius?

[1:00:04] I am nothing but a projection of Deucius' memories. Deucius? While only he can access the records within this orb, its creation required vast amounts of Kenya. Since you sound doubtful of your own identity, yet you are indeed accessing this information.

[1:00:21] Perhaps your mastery of the life force is strong enough to fool me. In the end, it is of no importance. Who is this? The mind journal was created to instruct. The guy you're hearing is Nick Apostolidis, the voice of Leon Kennedy from the Resident Evil remake.

[1:00:39] And we had him on Drop Frames, and after the show, me and him were chatting, and I might have floated to him if he was interested in being in Emberville, and he was like, what's Emberville?

[1:00:51] And it all went from there. So we are honored to have him as part of the project. he is a great dude and Alex obviously killed it directing him because this sounds great so yeah

[1:01:04] awesome awesome awesome I'd like to expand my knowledge of combat so I can survive the dangers of these tunnels very well open your mind to the knowledge I am about to impart

[1:01:16] did Toe bring in all the voice actors? no no I did not I brought in when I was told that we were going to be able to do voice acting, I got very excited,

[1:01:28] and I talked to a lot of people, but I brought in Alex and Leon and Elias DeFexas and a lot of the people that I know, but I brought in a small portion.

[1:01:41] I brought in a foundation, and then Alex Jordan became the voice director. So once we had our little core of voice actors, Alex Jordan became the voice director,

[1:01:53] and then he went out and started getting, like, a lot of the big names that you hear in the project. So Alex brought in Matt Mercer. Alex brought in Amelia Tyler, but he was the one that asked her first,

[1:02:06] which was kind of a joke between us. He brought in, like, a lot of the people you see. So between me and Alex, like, this voiceover cast has no business being this good.

[1:02:20] that. Did Alex bring in Doug? I don't remember if Alex brought in Doug. Either Alex... I think I might have brought in Doug. Honestly, it doesn't matter. All that matters is

[1:02:32] that Alex is the voice director, and when you think voices of Emberville, you think Alex Jordan. Because it doesn't matter who got brought in. He's the guy that directed them. He's the guy that actually recorded all the lines.

[1:02:44] Yeah. At the end of the day, I have nothing but the biggest amount of respect and thankfulness to what he's done because he's turned this into something just amazing. Anyway, let's go.

[1:02:58] Activate the Wanderer class. You've discovered your first playable combat class. Press P to open the class menu and activate it. This is our class system.

[1:03:11] The class system is independent from your level. What that means is you can switch your classes whenever you want, and there's also an inheritable system where you can actually bridge skills

[1:03:23] between classes to kind of make your own. So, it's a very involved system. We're going to have four of these available in EA, and we're going to grow that out to the total of, I think, 16 plus by the end of it.

[1:03:35] And, yeah, it's going to be awesome. This is the class menu, and here you can learn how to make known classes. Each levels up independently, and it has its own perks, skills, and gameplay style. New classes can be found by exploring the world, completing quests, and discovering secrets.

[1:03:49] You're not bound to any one class, and you can swap classes at any time. Do classes have money, or do classes have abilities? Yeah, yeah. So let me show you. So let's say you want to be a wanderer. This is the wanderer.

[1:04:02] So this is kind of like your first class. This is the class skill tree menu, and here you can choose and learn passive actions, an active skill to unlock skill points unique to each class, and can be reset at any time once you unlock the ability to do so.

[1:04:15] So, first you get your points. You can level, the only time a class levels up is if you are actively that class. So because we're a Wanderer now, as you get kills, we will be leveling up the Wanderer

[1:04:29] class. We have two points to put in now. We'll grab the Focus Strike abilities that deliver the Focus Punch forward dealing increased damage, and we'll also get the Swift Foot ability that increases movement speed while active. So we'll get Automatically Added down here.

[1:04:42] You can see now when we press 1, it's got a switch. a very cool skill with a very cool effect in animation. It's a nice little push there with a big push back. And then this skill right here increases movement speed while

[1:04:55] active, and this one is a park. So when we do this one, you can see our max Kenya has reduced, but now we have a permanent switch foot effect on it. So something kind of awesome, for instance, is if you like the extra move speed, you level up your Wanderer class. You

[1:05:11] also level up your main level. Eventually you will unlock an inheritance slot and then you can take the switch flip from Wanderer and you can put it in a

[1:05:23] different class You have the movement speed of Wanderer in a different class Oh have we met I do not recall seeing you around these times

[1:05:37] Oh, it is I, Ko. I saved you from the monsters. Ah. What? It's me again. What? Okay. Ooh. Oh, this is a bubbling.

[1:05:53] I like it. Perfect! Through our glorious wisdom of our master, who chose to share his knowledge with me, I am now in a proper position to study the energy known as Kenya and its effects on both the living and the dead.

[1:06:05] The following notes are preliminary and subject to correlation. Correct. However, they may serve as guidance for the Zachalites wishing to approach the secrets with an open mind. Oh, that's all there is? Ooh, a key.

[1:06:19] Okay. Are all classes earned at the same time? No, not at all.

[1:06:31] The way that the class earning works is if you look when you're... Oh, I actually can't show you the screen right now. When you're picking a... Oh, here we go. When you're picking a class, there are requirements. So in other words, if there's a class that's very offensive,

[1:06:46] well then it's going to require you to have different levels in certain weapon skills potentially to use it. It may also require a certain amount of armor skills. So to unlock a class, you may not only have to have requirements of your skills,

[1:07:03] you may have to have requirements of other classes. So there's lots of fun that we're going to have with that system.

[1:07:16] a matador, get that delicious glass cake, you only have four active skill class? Yes, you have four active skills and a variety of passives as well. There are also trinkets that will have some bearing especially as you get into further biomes and as you get further into EA, trinkets will become more and more of a thing.

[1:07:46] an important kind of like it again in Terraria and then we also have four active slots to eventually unlock down here and in the prologue demo you're mostly just using these for healing but eventually the slots down here will be

[1:08:00] used for items as well that you get in there. How do you know about the skills? So here you can mouse over everything on your character this is your C skill and you can see exactly what weapons the skill is for and what it does and then

[1:08:14] And if you have points, which I don't right now, if you raise or lower a skill, it highlights in green everything that changes from using that skill.

[1:08:26] So we try to make it very clear what you're doing when you do it.

[1:08:38] Oh, also another small thing. I'm seeing a lot of people say, what about keybinds? You can change them. We're going to do as much keybinding as we can in this game. Keybinds are an accessibility thing, and we want to make sure that you guys can play this game however you want to play it.

[1:08:52] So right now we do have basic keybinds, but as requirements from you guys grow out, so will what we do with keybinds. To the Supreme Lord of Justice,

[1:09:08] it is summed to my attention that our detention halls need urgent improvements. The northern cells are already full, and the southern ones are close to being in the same situation. We're wasting food, clothing, and security on these miscreants who were unfit to enjoy society's privileges in the first place.

[1:09:20] No more, I say. I understand that disposing of them will not be a sensible solution to the problems that will create needless unrest among the population. Not long ago, I spoke with you about my desire to create a prison massive enough to contain these criminals, and it is with great pride that I can finally share with you my accomplishments.

[1:09:33] Oh, this was the creation of the Betrominus. I present to you the Betrominus. A world within an artifact. With clever use of magic and delicate craftsmanship, I shaped a massive crystal into an endless world

[1:09:45] in which every single prisoner will spend the rest of their mortal life. It contains enough fauna and flora to sustain anyone who enters. This will allow them to survive for years to come and repent the crimes they committed. Furthermore, while I will not have worked out the means of accomplishing this feat,

[1:09:58] they may eventually be able to return to the society they rejected given they have served their sentence. I will place the Vectormanus at the center of the Palace of Equity. Just by touching it, one can become trapped in its world. so precautions have been taken.

[1:10:10] I've conjured a magical force field to prevent accidents and forest soldiers are currently guarding it. I will eagerly await your response to my letter so that we can coordinate a time to visit with this grand new invention which will surely provide a bright future for our people.

[1:10:22] I absolutely love that the first time I fully learn about what the Vitromedus is and how it acts, I immediately am like, that's kind of like the prison from Gothic. I love that game. Awesome.

[1:10:34] Okay, so that's how this all works. Great. I knew it was similar, but now that I have all the details, that's awesome. Okay. And I know, right? What could go wrong? It's like an ultra-prison. Right.

[1:10:46] A lot of weapons here. We'll just take these for now, but our inventory is getting full. Our inventory is getting full. Oh, I think I missed a book. Hold on. I need a book.

[1:11:00] So we are a criminal? We don't know who we are yet. All we know is that we're stuck in here, and then when we tried to leave our house, somebody killed us. The Strange Rebel says, Happy Emberville Day. Happy Emberville Day, Strange Rebel. Hello.

[1:11:12] Hello. That is the amazing voice of Aerith from Final Fantasy Remakes, by the way, the Strange Rebel in chat. She is one of the characters in our game as well. It is good to see you, Aerith. Thank you so much for being here. She is amazing.

[1:11:24] She's a streamer, by the way. You should definitely follow her if you haven't. If the mods want to give her a shout out, please feel free. Okay. Week one. I'm starting this journal so I can keep a proper record of all the information I gather about my inmate.

[1:11:39] Last night, a fellow tried to grab me while I was sleeping. I managed to stab him with a hollow bone I picked up earlier. The poor sod walked away with a terrible wound. I doubt he survived. Week three, the men are getting restless. Although my previous altercation earned some of their respect,

[1:11:51] they still see me as a piece of flesh ready for the taking. I'm scared, but I can't show it. Week four, I made friends with a fellow named Ordaxius. He claimed he was in prison for illegal experiments. The rest are terrified of him and his powers, so by gaining his trust, I also came under his wings.

[1:12:04] Redaxius is relentless yet enigmatic. I enjoy talking to him after everybody else goes to sleep. I don't mind sharing the blanket with him either. He's quite pleasant. My companions taught me a few magic tricks. Today I set an aggressive prisoner's beard ablaze. It was delightful.

[1:12:17] Yeah Week 10 we managed to reach a section where water is abundant with plenty of fisher cash. We'll fortify this position and remain here for a while. I feel at peace with my new friend. Perhaps not everything is lost here.

[1:12:29] So I definitely was under the assumption that Mordaxius was like the evil. Um, maybe not so much. This should be locked. Yep.

[1:12:42] Cool, cool, cool. Oh, here we go. Now it begins! Good. Good. Now we get the Acolyte people.

[1:12:55] Find the key for the spider door. Dude, I just realized I budgeted an hour to play this game instead of hours to play this game. Hour and 15 minutes. Oh, now he's blocking for his friend.

[1:13:16] Oh, where'd my pot go? I'm out of pot! Oh, God. Woo! Oh, he's darting.

[1:13:36] Woo! Okay. This is fine. Um. This is fine. This is fine, Chad.

[1:13:49] This is fine. Okay. Okay. Who's in here? Ooh, a better shield.

[1:14:05] Uh... Yeah, we'll take that. Do we have a cloak? Still have a cloak. Ooh, a little bit less defense, but it's light damage and has a really good amount of critical.

[1:14:18] Uh, these are medium. We'll take those. I'm going to keep that hat, but I'll just go ahead and drop some of our white stuff for now. By the way, dropping items, you just drag them right out of the inventory. You can also right-click and drop. They all pop up on the ground.

[1:14:31] You can hold down shift to see everything you've dropped. It's a lot of nice to go over. Of course, you have a lot more big plans for that, but this is the beginning.

[1:14:45] Why am I dropping loot? I'm dropping loot for being very, very thorough right now, but there's lots of options for loot. You'll see. That just opened the shortcut door. Also this music though! Oh this is going to be hard.

[1:15:00] Like that guy scorpioning me back over there?

[1:15:23] This is considered an 11.

[1:15:35] This is like a mini-box. It's not really a mini-box, but it's much stronger than normal. There we go. And the reason that guy was there is because generally you're not really supposed to beat him, but he can get fun.

[1:15:47] And now we'll go up here and get this. Woo! Alright, epic rustic adventures rest place. Extra sword that has more kenya recovery and mass kenya and attack rate bonus.

[1:16:01] We'll take all of that and then we'll get these for later in case we want to switch to those. And also grab some more great armor. Something to keep in mind, this is the prologue, so we're kind of locked to what we're doing right now.

[1:16:23] In the actual game, when you go into the Betromedus, when you fill up your inventory, you'll be able to go out, deal with it, and come back in. I'm just throwing it down now so I can keep going. But you will absolutely have more options for your... I'm dropping it.

[1:16:35] Will we be able to dismantle gear or sell it? Boat. We're going to be able to do boat.

[1:16:50] Can we get our bow up a little bit? This is light armor and medium armor. I think we'll just keep these for now.

[1:17:05] Okay, let's go the other way. Does the demo loop carry over? No. The demo will not carry over into EA. We thought about doing that, but there's a lot of technical hurdles that come in place with that.

[1:17:18] We decided we're just going to focus on making EA the best we can. Yeah, so if you do play the demo, you will have to play it again for the reaction. No one will escape the quad laser! There is no escape there. There is no escape.

[1:17:34] It's kind of fun, by the way, that big blue ball that you just saw them cast, that big spell requires multiple enemies of that type around the cast. And if there's only one of them, they won't do it.

[1:17:46] There are spells and abilities that require a group of enemies to do. So if you kill one enemy, then they're no longer able to do that ability. Ah!

[1:17:58] Armourcrafting! Look at this. Cool. This is one of the things I haven't seen in the game yet. I've seen screenshots of this, but not in the wild, as it were.

[1:18:13] Awesome. What's over here? Ah, here we go! This is the recycling station. Recycle all broken items.

[1:18:25] Yes. Recycle all ordinary items. Yes. Recycle all good items. Yes. Recycle all blue items, because I'm crazy! Yes. And now you have all sorts of materials and stuff in here that we can go over to here.

[1:18:41] And look at that. Now we can make some stuff. Heck yeah, man. Let's make some pants. You can see the pants being made there. You can also go over here.

[1:18:53] Got some basic stuff we can do here. The higher end stuff requires better. You can see the good is green. The ordinary is gray. So we'll have different sorting and stuff in here that we can't as well. This is done.

[1:19:05] We're going to walk up and use that to pick it up. There's the trousers we made. Nice. Oh, they were good. Hell yeah. Very good. Lovely. And we have all sorts of fun things planned for the crafting system.

[1:19:17] Crafting is going to be a big part of our game because whenever you make something, you can see, it just got two steps. So we're going to, once the game goes into the middle of the biome for the end game, a big part of this game is going to be crafting your perfect set.

[1:19:30] Because when it comes to higher-end items, As you can see, there's lots of modifiers on there. So how you deal with them and how you want to do it is going to be a whole thing. When is the demo release?

[1:19:42] You'll be able to play what I'm playing right now on October 19th. We got the charge shot for the bow. Charging the bow to increase the shot damage.

[1:19:54] Hold that for a second. Nice. Awesome.

[1:20:11] Dang, that was a long distance. Another thing that's not in the demo, you absolute hacker abuser people,

[1:20:23] is I think that we're still working on damage creating aggro. So if you notice there, I shot the spider and he didn't immediately run over. That's a little bug we're working on. Alright, let's make some more roasted meat.

[1:20:40] Oh, more health points on that, alright. Let's go ahead and clear out these level ups. Oh, we got precision rush on our sword.

[1:20:53] So now we got a combo that's left click, right click, left click on our sword. Which I told, because I'm smart. I'll show you later. Is there going to be a way to swap weapons?

[1:21:08] That is something that potentially will come in EA. We are... We're talking about that. The thing is, is what we're wanting to decide, and this is like a big decision for us is,

[1:21:21] weapon swapping or loadout or both, like we have plans for these systems, but there's a couple foundational systems that we're making first, and that stuff that will come in EA. Also, to put it bluntly, the order of those features may come from like how much people are requesting them during the course of the game.

[1:21:38] So, how hard has it been staying spoiler free while playing this game? It's been pretty easy because everyone on the team is helping me do it. So, it'd be impossible if the team wasn't behind me.

[1:21:50] But because the team has kind of been helping me, it's been pretty great. Can you fish in this game? We decided not to put in a basic version of fishing for EA. and right now you can harvest all of this stuff

[1:22:06] and you can do all of this stuff. But the dev team asked me, they said, do you want us to put in just a basic version of phishing that isn't our end goal for early access or would you rather we save time, not do that,

[1:22:20] and then implement phishing properly after EA comes out? And I said, do the second. Like, I don't need some busted version of phishing that isn't the vision. We have a vision for fishing.

[1:22:32] It's going to be a whole mini game. There's going to be lots of different fish in lots of different biomes. There's going to be fishing bosses. There's going to be gear that you can only get from fishing. There's going to be gear that alters fishing. So it's going to be a bigger system than like wood cutting,

[1:22:46] which is walk up to a tree and hold E. Take out the tree down and pick everything up. Right? It's different than that. So we're saving the fishing system for a little bit after E. Will there be a fishing contest in the town?

[1:23:00] I mean, there will be now. Now that you've reeled that concept into existence. Yeah. What a great idea.

[1:23:13] Team, write that down. Okay, let's go. Okay, here we go.

[1:23:30] I could have brought a quack!

[1:23:49] I could have brought a quack! I could have brought a quack! Bam! That was a big hit.

[1:24:02] Gotta get these abs down first. Oh! Three spiders come out of one egg? Okay, we gotta talk about this.

[1:24:20] Okay. Oh! I'm gonna take care of these eggs first. She's going over and like catching her eggs while I'm trying to destroy them. You jerk.

[1:24:38] Oh, where'd you go? Oh, there's another one! Oh my god, that's brutal.

[1:24:51] The worst part is every time she munches her dents, they heal. Let's see how the power-ups go.

[1:25:05] Nope, no power. If you're wondering why this is taking so long, it's because I may have erroneously

[1:25:35] I'm going to equip my best weapon and then slow it before the boss fight, going off to disassemble itself. I'm doing a little bit less damage than I would be normally.

[1:25:55] I also get a mention while we're doing this. Oh, shoot. There's also difficulty options. So in EA we will actually have different options You can have an easier experience with less AC mobs if you want in 7-11

[1:26:29] Nice. Awesome. Okay. Whew. That music is top tier. Dude, our music guy, his name is Greg, is actually in a hot case. Yeah.

[1:26:41] Is it going to be a hardcore mode? We are planning on having hardcore modes probably by 1.0. Yeah. The Spider Team. This is what all items in the game will eventually look like.

[1:26:53] They will have a name that identifies what they are, and then every single item by 1.0 will have a description on what that item is and what it is. There will be no items that look like this. By 1.0, every single item will have a lore-based attachment to it as well.

[1:27:09] Legendary Spider Staff. Look, it is a magic weapon. Has to move speed, max chemia, 50% poison. Pretty cool. And this staff has a little dinky attack, but then its right click is an actual...

[1:27:24] whole thing there. And if you look in Staves, you can see what they do. So at level 1, then you get a magic combo that does a big swing, and if the swing connects, then we get Kenia

[1:27:37] regeneration, which is awesome. So as a mage, if you run out of Kenia, which is like your mana, then you can run in and do a melee attack to get a bonus on your regen, which is awesome. And then we get all sorts of Kenia knowledge up, we get an Arcane Wave skill that shoots

[1:27:52] out and knocks back enemies. More key stuff, you get a Nova Sphere, which is like a giant 180 damage, 180% damage ball that goes out that hits a whole bunch of enemies at once,

[1:28:04] which is really cool. Okay, go on. I am not crazy. I see it. I see it in every corner, lurking, watching. Its presence robs me of sleep. Wait, I feel like I should be reading this differently.

[1:28:22] through a slope. When I do manage to close my eyes, I can see it in my mouth. There is two and four teeth sinking into my decaying flesh. Sometimes, from the corner of my eye,

[1:28:34] I notice the last tooth. The last also something, but believe it or not, the tooth will affect the environment. I know the truth, but therefore, far too stubborn to accept it. That's my real voice. I put this voice on for you. Its eyes dance from room to room like a predator watching

[1:28:49] its next meal. During the last encounter with the scavengers, I can feel its presence stronger than ever. It feasts on death and conflict. On the kina, it releases. I yearn for the embrace of release. Yet in a way, I fear it, because I know that that thing will be waiting

[1:29:03] for me, ready to devour my essence. And the more I fear, the hunger it gets. Every time a body seems to vanish from prison, I know the truth, and you will too.

[1:29:16] Awesome. Please get Zeke to voice lines. Okay, so quick note. I am not in early access. I do not have any of my cameo buddies in early access either.

[1:29:28] Cameos and fun extra stuff is going to be on the road to 1.0. So I'm just saying that now. Manage expectations. You will not hear me in EA as of now, and you won't be seeing cameos in the game as well.

[1:29:43] I want to, and me and Alex got to coordinate on this, But I want to get in a bunch of fun cameos from a bunch of my buddies and people that have been here around the years. They'll be tiny. They'll be little and fun. Not something that you may know off bat.

[1:29:56] You're probably going to have to kind of be in on it for a lot of the cameos. Because I don't want that feeling of having, like, non-game related stuff in the game. Like it all needs to be sunk into the lore properly. But yes, we are planning on having some fun cameos.

[1:30:10] And that will come later. Yeah. that is not not our priority for EA will there be a pet class?

[1:30:22] yes the CEO of the company his name is Bryn his favorite type of character to play in games like this is necromancer slash summoning classes so he has already said

[1:30:34] that there will be a summoning specialty in this game it will be developed in this game eventually not necessarily by EA but eventually we will have a developed summoning class, maybe a couple of them. Yeah. Yeah, there's a reason... there's not really some necro... there's not really a

[1:30:50] necromancer in this game because of the way... we don't really have zombies in the game, so we don't really have like a traditional necro, but we have all sorts of other fun stuff. Yeah. You will have to play in this city.

[1:31:03] Okay. Our IGN preview just came out and the key takeaways were the demo focused largely on combat but it nevertheless impressed me.

[1:31:21] Emberville's pixel art quickly won me over and it remains to be seen if its crafting and city building systems will integrate nicely into the whole package. Okay, that's all super valid. Yep. Awesome. and man I cannot wait to show you more about the estate system and the Petromedist

[1:31:41] oh my god man like just just to tell you I'll just tell you I'm not gonna show you I'll tell you we have a whole world map system now to where you go into Emberville the first time

[1:31:53] when you go back into the Petromedist you see the big world map and the one place you can go and then when you go to that place and start exploring when you leave the Petromedist and come back in, you'll see all the places that you can go in discovered and all the map you've

[1:32:06] uncovered already. So you're like slowly over the course of the game making this giant unexplored area explored. It's going to be, oh, it's going to be good. It's going to be good. Yeah.

[1:32:20] It's coming along very nicely. Do, do, do. Mine and Neville is up there. We need to go find the Spoder Door.

[1:32:34] Is the map handcrafted or procedural? So the main map is seed-generated. It's a seed-generated map. So when you make your world, you will put in a seed, and then that seed will then procedurally create your own map.

[1:32:51] There will be modifiers that you can set for your world, so that will play into it. But yeah, the seed-generated... They eventually will be seed-generated maps when we get to the co-op split of player and world.

[1:33:03] So that's how that's going to work. Now, it is important to mention that even though a large majority of the map will be seed-generated, somebody said like Terraria. Yeah, like Terraria, like all those games that have like you put in a seed and then you make your own world.

[1:33:16] That's how it is here. That being said, there are many areas that are like key areas or important areas, and all of those are handcrafted. And then you can then, those parts are around the seed-generated rest of it.

[1:33:32] Yeah. Use the spider. Tower says, is there anything in the game so far you're not sold on? well I mean there's tons of stuff

[1:33:45] that is that I have already planned and designed to be in this game that is not in the game yet so there's a lot of stuff that you don't see yet that is going to come with the middle biomes

[1:33:57] and the end game biomes we have large plans for this game and we're only it's only at the very beginning so yes oh Look at this guy.

[1:34:26] How does Kenya affect the dead? After observing many of my comrades fall prey to the fatal injuries of starvation, I realized that as long as the body can be restored to health and live again, and the Kenya around us will do it whether we want it to or not.

[1:34:38] However, in cases where the corpses were too damaged to revive, they enjoyed the respite of death, at least temporarily. A person without a heart cannot be brought back by Kenya, no matter how powerful, simply because a body cannot function without that vital organ.

[1:34:51] Therefore, it is important to keep the corpses away from predators and in dry and secure places in order to slow the process of decomposition. This will ensure a proper and painless resurrection. Note that a complete yet damaged body can be resurrected in the wrong condition.

[1:35:08] In the past I have observed a body coming back from death but with its shattered bones fused into a mobile block, causing the person endless pain. There are exceptions to these rules, as well as serious abstinence, which I am going to explain next.

[1:35:20] As mentioned, an incomplete corpse cannot be brought back by chemo. Going back to the example of a body without a heart, what could happen if another piece of organic material was present during the process? If you wouldn't mind, please. In proper... Thank you, Benstar.

[1:35:33] In proper conditions, I confirmed that the energy is strong enough to rebuild a body if enough raw materials are around it. During my numerous investigations in my laboratory, I tend to leave the broken bodies of experimental creatures resting on a wooden table. After a particularly strong ritual that required me to channel massive amounts of kenya,

[1:35:48] I observed that the process had such a lasting effect that the energy became visible even to those who were untrained. The kenya started to affect the living matter around the place. The roots covering the walls grew and flourished. The organic material from the wooden table combined with the inert bodies of my experiments,

[1:36:03] bringing them back with their missing organs restored. They became new entities, with their former manners yet adapted to their unique form.

[1:36:16] Whoa. Okay. That sounds kind of loud. Okay. Oh, look who it is! A woman covered in a veil remains imprisoned in a rusty cell.

[1:36:31] Her features are barely visible beneath a cloth, but you can tell she's quite old. Hey, you wanderer. Give me a hand, would you? I swear I will bite.

[1:36:43] But... My name's Tanisha. Although some know me as the Bone Lady. I'm just a cartographer who drafted the wrong people.

[1:36:55] Nothing more. Very well, let me see what I can do. Oh, we might want to have the player, like, search around here for a key, and then unlock her cage.

[1:37:10] But, this is my job. I'm starting... Oh, the Master's Journal! I'm starting this journey in hopes of helping myself with my faulty memory. As the years go by in this place, I can see my fellow inmates wither away, in both mind and body.

[1:37:23] I am in no better shape, since every time I have been misfortunate of seeing my reflection in a puddle of water, I can only witness a decaying husk that barely resembles a human anymore. Food is growing scarce, and we must travel even deeper into these tunnels, or be tortured by eternal hunger.

[1:37:36] We manage to find different kinds of plants to keep ourselves going, but the dangers are becoming greater every time. It's only to case the cold, delicious release of death. However, our jailers were merciless, therefore we must be too. The year is seventeen, day unknown.

[1:37:51] Today I made an amazing discovery. a member of my group snapped and became a frenzied beast, seeming to steal against us without sense or intent. A fury foamed at his mouth. I could feel something, something that I've been trying to understand for quite a few years now. His strong, indomitable emotions emanated a residual energy,

[1:38:05] and for the first time I was able to see it. It looked tempting and colorful, as if I were able to see the smell of a sweet perfume. I focused and tried to absorb it It worked As the energy rushed through my body I felt a surge of vitality like never before The hunger and thirst were gone and even some of my wounds vanished Wait you ate someone else energy The pain was driven away and I sighed in relief

[1:38:27] Uh, did you, like, swallow his soul? Naturally, we put our companion down in a matter of seconds. We carried him along his body until his body rose again, as it always did. However, this time I understood how. This place is still to the brim with a unique power preventing

[1:38:41] up some dinos using every creature with life. Moreover, it may be the key to regaining our freedom. I will keep investigating. Year 21. Stay unknown. Okay, okay. Alright, let's, uh... I turned this 45-minute demo into almost

[1:38:56] two hours, and I didn't even do everything! Ah, it's so good to be free again. Although, in a way, we're still in Britain. What should I call my brave savior?

[1:39:11] I am Coe. So what about your end of the bargain? My, you are impatient. Oh, well, great. Before I share what I know, she told you I was making my way to Amberville.

[1:39:24] Until I was captured, that is. Tidal graph. Amberville? What's that? I believe that's the name of the town where the Vitrometer's crystal currency resides. It should be deserted by now, but it won't hurt to stay loud in case someone was left behind.

[1:39:44] Your drooling mouth tells me that you have plenty of questions. If I could just see me... I'm asking once we're outside. Outside of where? Of the Detromatis, you fool. The prison in which we're stuck.

[1:39:59] Follow me. I'll show you to the waypoint that will allow us to escape. with game. Hmm, excuse me, honey? These structures allow travel across the entire world in the blink of an eye.

[1:40:11] For all I know, they were never intended for anything else. However, when the powers of Chimera began to manifest, the locks that prevented escape were shattered.

[1:40:25] Now, by wielding that very same energy, freedom is within our grasp. Okay.

[1:40:43] Okay. And there are a few ops, not yet. Not yet.

[1:40:57] I, I, we do not have a lock thing yet, but we're already talking about it. Yeah. That and another thing that we've been playing with is do we want the player

[1:41:09] to auto-follow the NPC when they walk? We're deciding we had that at the beginning but then we didn't want to take away the player agency to explore while she walks up. So we're figuring out

[1:41:21] how we want to do that. Yeah. These are the things you've got to decide, man. It's a little thing. But I do think we're going to put an RP walk regardless. The RP walk is coming in regardless, I believe. But probably after EA. Okay.

[1:41:33] Any chance you can teach me these powers? He did manage to overcome the challenges. Oh, press, like, F to follow or something? Perhaps. I like that idea. He has amazing potential within him.

[1:41:45] Or maybe if you walk up to an NPC that's already walking, you can press F and then you just fall in behind him. I like that idea. Now, let's find a safer place.

[1:41:57] A way to leave. That's cool. We can discuss those trivialities once we're able to bring each best air. Here's the waypoint.

[1:42:10] Oh, you fool! Over here! You may not remember how long since I've come to, but I do. You should keep moving.

[1:42:34] Let's explore the town. The villages are in huge visits. Then they won't mind if we take possession of one of their houses.

[1:43:04] all for her attention, she glares at you with a raised eyebrow. Now that you can see her more clearly, you understand the reason behind her name. Numerous pieces of bone emerge from her flesh, tearing her

[1:43:16] skin apart like small, sharp horns. You can even make out more beneath her ragged clothes, all over her body. For now, for my first time, I now know that the reason

[1:43:28] that she looks like this is because she died in terrible ways, and and when she came back to life, her body was not put together back properly. It's kind of metal. I like it.

[1:43:40] Noticing her inspection, she smiles cynically, revealing an uneven row of pointed, separated teeth. I suppose you're now eager to assault me with a thousand questions.

[1:43:52] Go ahead, have your fun. Hey, Brim, check this word real quick, if you could. But please, just stop staring at me like that, you don't. Why are you helping me? Now that we're free, you can just walk away and forget about this place.

[1:44:06] An interesting question, Wanderer. I would like to know first why you're still here, as freedom is easy to reach as you claim. Now, this brings up a really interesting thing that I'm sure a lot of you are thinking.

[1:44:22] That is a big wall of text. Does my decision here really matter? This looks intense. now you will not see a lot of stuff like this in the game this is not a text-based adventure game

[1:44:36] this is a an action rpg but there are going to be times when you see things like this where you will want to read over all the options because there are times when the things you tell

[1:44:49] villagers in emberville there's a time when those things are very important so So it's just important to keep in mind what you are telling these people when you do,

[1:45:02] because there might be some consequences and things from that. So you generally do not want to just quickly click through these things. So just as a... We're just going to throw that out there.

[1:45:14] Yeah. Okay. I want to know what happened in the town. It seems that the people need my help, and I intend to give it to them. I don't know why, but I feel responsible. You were right before. My mind has been shattered. I don't know who I am, but I plan to find out. and if I can't, I want to forge a new path for myself, whatever that may be.

[1:45:29] It seems like a nice time to settle in and live in peace, although it's in dire need of some repairs. I'd like to see it in its full splendor. I can feel an event's power surging through me, but I don't know how to use it yet. I want to fully form my potential. I've seen some nice treasures inside that dungeon.

[1:45:42] I'd like to know if... So greed guides your advent. That's all right. You're not the first to be blinded by the glow of riches. just remember that some treasures are not made of precious minerals or powerful trinkets

[1:45:59] knowledge can sometimes be more valuable than any of those things especially in the metromotus and what about you? lovely loot, I approve that is the amazing Richard Keeble

[1:46:14] who is Monaco from E33 and also a villager in Emberville. Okay, and what about you? Why would you care about the people of this town?

[1:46:28] I have my reasons. Although, you did satisfy my curiosity, so I suppose you deserve some kind of explanation. Oh, and to put it bluntly, he was another one of the people I immediately contacted

[1:46:41] when I knew about that we were doing VO. In fact, he was one of the first. I remember thinking like what kind of voices do I want in Emberville I'm PMing Richard Keeble immediately because I loved

[1:46:55] him in E33 it was so good so yeah by the way people were asking who this DA is, this is Lucy Elliot this is Lucy Elliot

[1:47:07] we have a voice over cast for Emberville that is a bunch of AAA great amazing names and we also have an entire support cast of, in some cases,

[1:47:19] their first VO project ever in Emberville. So we are not just all AAA tier VOs. We have a lot of VOs in Emberville, but this is one of their, this is like their first project. They're getting their feet wet.

[1:47:32] We wanted to balance that in this. We didn't just want to have all the best, right? We also wanted to have, we wanted to bring in the next generation as well. So, yeah, we do really like that. Um, okay.

[1:47:54] Capsule says... Oh, one second. Oh, yeah.

[1:48:06] Now that she's out of the Petromedus, when she dies, she dies, right? I think. Yeah. Um... Cat's Pearl says, did you mean Missy Elliot? Did I mean Missy Elliot? No, I think if I said that, you would have heard me say,

[1:48:18] but that is not what I said. So I'm pretty sure it's just, it's Lucy Elliot. Yeah. Okay. However, I want to see the world, but I'm lost in it.

[1:48:31] To savor my freedom one last time. But I feel that before I can fully enjoy that, I should do at least one good act.

[1:48:44] I'm so honored that so many people got that joking chat. Thank you for being you, by the way. Thank you. Did we get Ben Starr? We did get Ben Starr. Turns out he will do anything for money. Yes, Ben Starr is also in Emberville.

[1:48:56] Yes. This ravaged town seems like the perfect opportunity to cleanse my spirit and finally break my shackles. Fair enough.

[1:49:08] How do you suggest we start? First, I need someone I can trust to watch my back while you're away. Fair. Inside the verduremetis, there's a man called Adeos. Like me, he's an acolyte, and his keeper's a scribe.

[1:49:22] I've met him already. That was the guy we saved. I need you to find him. He gave us the money. We told us how to use it. And bring his shriveled carcass to me. His mind is usually lost in random thoughts, but...

[1:49:38] He's a good companion. And a pretty smart fellow. Whole thing's considered. Did we get Matt Mercer to voice anything? Hold tight a second. Take this map with you.

[1:49:50] It covers a wide area within the biome where you found me. The rest is up to you. Sounds simple enough. Just make sure the place is clean when I get back, all right? Very funny.

[1:50:03] So, now we have to go back in and find Adeos. Oh no! I missed a book by the... Oh, wait a second, who's this?

[1:50:18] A hunched short creature... I'm so sorry, I missed that, Bryn. Oh man. A short creature of white-blue... Ah, bummer. Skin greets you with a devious smile. He was apparently waiting for you.

[1:50:30] He seemed to need a walking stick, though something tells you he may be faking it. Why, hello there, good customer. Care to browse my items? I guarantee you'll be surprised.

[1:50:42] Where did you come from? Are you following me, Matt Mercer? I was just making sure you were right home safe and sound. I followed precaution, considering the sorry state of this town.

[1:50:55] But I'm sure that now you've cleared your head, we can do some business again. Who are you? I'm Kumu. Kumu. You've probably heard my name before. I'm a renowned trader, bringing the rarest items right to your bags and belts.

[1:51:14] For a price, of course. I don't think I've heard about you, no. You wound-gumo wanderer. We should solve that immediately. Here, look at my land.

[1:51:27] Only the finest for you, I assure you. What kind of creature are you, anyway? I'm what you'd call a scavenger. Nasty title, that's right. I prefer to be called a surveyor of treasures, you know.

[1:51:42] Don't be alarmed. I don't share my brethren's taste for conflict. I prefer coins in my pockets. It's much more satisfying than fleas, isn't it? Are you from Emberville, too?

[1:51:54] You could say so. I visit the town from time to time, but the people don't like my face. I get that a lot, too. How come everybody's missing in this town except you?

[1:52:20] Oh, someone asked me a question. Can we get physical copies of this game? So, as a more indie game, we did not plan when we made this project to have physical copies. physical copies for an indie when you don't have the supply line set up is definitely more of an ordeal.

[1:52:37] That being said, barring the success of early access, we may have some kind of physical collection available, and we are looking in for options at 1.0 to have physical discs if you want them.

[1:52:54] So we're going to see what we can do. we are working, as, as, as Brandon Chad is saying, we're working with a company called I Am 8-Bit, so we're going to be seeing, like, what we can do with that and how we can work with it, and

[1:53:06] the, the plan is to do what we can in that regard. We want to get you guys what you want, essentially, so we're going to figure out how we can do that. Yeah. Um, yeah. So, are you going to be on GOG? Uh, this game will be out

[1:53:18] pretty much everywhere we can put it, so this game is going to, the, the early access is coming out on Steam and GOG. Um, I don't know if we're doing Epic, but if we can, we probably will. Anywhere we can put this game we want to play. We want to make this

[1:53:32] easy for you guys. So, yeah, that's kind of where we are. That being said, we don't have any plans to do any kind of exclusivity anywhere. We will make it available to as many places as we can. Same deal with consoles. We want to put on as many consoles as we can. We want

[1:53:47] the game to be available in the easiest way to the most amount of people. That's what we're doing. Yeah. Ah, pity the rest of the town can't say the same. What consoles is it coming to?

[1:54:01] We'll talk about that more as we get close to 1.0, but the plan is pretty much all we can put it on. But again, we have a two-year dev cycle between EA and 1.0, so we'll talk a lot more about that as we get closer to it.

[1:54:14] And we very much appreciate y'all's patience. Some of this stuff we can't do too early. Like, the project has to be at a certain point, so we know, like, how big is the final version? How, you know, like, all these questions

[1:54:26] that you kind of need to know before you do this stuff. So, yeah. The skills you mentioned seem pretty useful. Can you share them with me? I see you with quality products, not secrets. Now I can show you my wares if you have the coin, of course.

[1:54:42] If not, leave Kumo to his work. You're scaring the customers, that big old weapon of yours. What customers? You're the only person here. For now. Oh, now you're talking like cool.

[1:54:56] Here, here, have a look at these. I like them. Oh, there's a... He has a very expensive... Hey, he's got a cloak!

[1:55:11] Where'd all my gear go? Oh, he got put in her chest. Cool. And that, chat,

[1:55:26] is three years of work. Thank you for playing! You have reached the end of the Emberville Prologue demo. From all of us at Singletross, thank you for spending your time with us

[1:55:38] and being a part of the first public look at Emberville. This is only the beginning. The team is continuing to build, expand, and refine the game every day as we charge towards October 27th Early Access March. We'd love to hear your thoughts, share your feedback, report any issues,

[1:55:51] and ask questions, or just come hang out with us through the Emberville Discord Team Community X or at code.tv slash Emberville. Thank you for exploring Emberville with us.

[1:56:03] Now, real quick, first of all, a lot of you guys have been with me on this whole streaming journey for a long time and also into this game dev foundation

[1:56:17] that I'm laying for the future right now. as a thank you to all of you, especially the old-timers, we are going to put 500 keys for the early preview prologue on the Token Store right now,

[1:56:30] and any of you who buy them can play what I just played until September 14th. Enjoy. Good luck. Barry is putting that up in just a second,

[1:56:42] so be sure to check the Token Store down there. They're going to be very expensive. We have a very high token amount. I think it's like 10K for the keys right now. And then as everyone who gets those gets them, we'll keep lowering the amount until we get out all 500 keys.

[1:56:54] So big thank you to not only the dev team for working with me on that, but Evolve and everyone as well. It's just awesome. Second of all, I'm seeing a lot of people say two questions. That's the end of the demo. Where does EA pick up, and what is EA?

[1:57:06] So let's talk about this right now because it is so important to this team and me that we get these expectations laid out. So, on October 19th, you will have access to an updated version of the demo I just played.

[1:57:19] You will be able to download that demo on the 19th to the 27th, which is, I think, how long that Steam Next Fest is. It will be available the whole time. We encourage you to please download the demo and play it before you buy it.

[1:57:31] We want you to buy Emberville with a big smile on your face, not wondering if you're going to like it. So, you'll have a whole week to play the demo before that happens. Now, when you buy into early access, early access is everything you just saw, and then the ability to go back into the metronomous to see the big procedural world.

[1:57:50] You will get the entire first biome. You will get the end boss of the first biome that will then eventually let you transition to biome number two. You will get a smattering of quests and RNG events in that world.

[1:58:03] You will have at least three villagers, maybe a little bit more. there's going to be four different weapon types. There will be four classes that you can get. And you will also have access to the beginning iteration of your buildable estate.

[1:58:19] So you'll be able to do some of the building and stuff in your estate as well. That is early access. That is what you will get when you get the early access, which is 10% off our $30 price tag for EA.

[1:58:32] If you buy our early access, you are taking a journey with us. The next two years are going to be intense over here at Cygnus Cross. We are estimating a one and a half to two year development cycle.

[1:58:45] And in that time, we are adding in 20 plus fully voice acted villagers, eight fully fleshed out biomes with a unique boss in each one and multiple small bosses, 16 weapon types, all with their own animations and progression lines,

[1:59:00] at least 15 classes that all are going to have their inheritable skills and crossover things. a ton of items, an actual endgame. Like, we have a lot of plans for 1.0.

[1:59:13] And that is going to be the journey from EA on the 27th all the way to that, what I just mentioned at 1.0. No, that is not EA. No, no, no, no. Just to, again, say it,

[1:59:25] because it's not super clear. Early access on the 27th. One biome, three to four villagers, four weapon types, the very beginning of EA. Or the estate. That is early access.

[1:59:37] That is what you're buying on the 27th. Two years from October 27th is 1.0. 1.0 is eight biomes, 20-plus villagers, 15-plus classes, 16 weapon types,

[1:59:52] and a huge amount more content. The reason I'm saying this is because if you hear what's in EA and you go, eh, not really enough, don't get it. if you want the full version of Emberville

[2:00:06] wait for 1.0 that is when it will be balanced the vision will be in all of the systems will be there all the bosses all the biomes wait for 1.0 if you want that experience but if you want to join us

[2:00:19] during the development cycle if you want to talk to us and let us know what you like and don't like in the game if you want to potentially have a voice in how this game is done and balanced buy EA

[2:00:31] join our discord talk to our team and help us make this game the best it possibly can be that's it that's what we're doing will there be a roadmap there absolutely will be we will have a

[2:00:45] roadmap available on early access it is going to be obviously a little you know nebulous because we're still nailing things down but our current plan is to have at least one to two major biomes

[2:01:00] and at least a handful of classes of villagers every major update. And every major update is between three and six months. So we're going to have, like, big updates.

[2:01:13] Big updates every few months for a couple years. It's good. Like, again, this team has been working their ass off. This team works fast, but everything they've been working on since we redid the client has been, like, all of the core stuff.

[2:01:27] So now that all that stuff's finally finishing up, We're getting to, like, move those big guns into, like, the content portion. And it's going to go quick. So, yeah. Apparently, you guys have completely overwhelmed the token store.

[2:01:40] Barry is dealing with it. We now have less than 200 keys left. So, go pick them up if you'd like. But, okay, final things I'm going to say, man. I am... Yeah, I'm just...

[2:01:54] I'm over the moon right now, dude. Thank you guys so much for watching this this morning. It's still blowing my mind that we're here. This project is coming together in ways I could not have possibly imagined.

[2:02:10] And I really hope you guys enjoy what we're cooking here. By the time this game is done, I think this is going to be one of the better games of this type in terms of QOL, in terms of what it offers, immersive elements.

[2:02:26] Like, we got a very passionate team working really hard to make this the best game it can be. So, thank you for joining us on this journey. We could not be more appreciative of those who decided to take the jump into EA with us. Because let's be real.

[2:02:39] What is early access? It's a promise. You have to trust us if you buy EA. You have to trust us that you are buying with a 10% discount and will one day get an amazing game. And every single one of those purchases is another promise to a different person.

[2:02:53] And we plan on taking that seriously. and we plan on, again, doing everything we can to make this hopefully one of the better games you ever play. So we're going to do what we can. We're going to do our best. And, again, we hope you join us for that journey.

[2:03:08] Awesome. Okay. I think I'm good. That took just over two hours. Wow. All right.

[2:03:21] Real quick, Bryn is sending me some stuff here. Dan's Gaming, Cauliflower, and other creators have some keys that they'll be giving away. So if you were not lucky enough to get one of the 500 we just had in the token store, there are other streamers who will be playing this demo throughout the course of the weekend.

[2:03:35] They will be giving away stuff themselves. So if you would like to do that, please feel free to check them out and get them going. We're at sub-70 keys here, so they are going pretty fast.

[2:03:48] Yeah, absolutely. Oh, also, some folks have been asking what to expect in early access. And you know what? I just realized something. I don't know if this video is public, but I'm going to play it for you anyway.

[2:04:04] Okay, one second. Let's do this. Hello, and thank you for joining us for a truly crazy build of Emberville. This is an unfinished, very early look, but we can't wait for you to see what we have so far.

[2:04:17] We do feel it's pretty amazing, and we hope that you agree when you check it out. From all of us at Cygnus Cross, thank you so much for joining us on the first step of the Emberville journey. We cannot wait for you to check it out. Thank you for your time, and we will see you in development.

[2:04:35] Hi, I'm Kayla Thorman, and I voice a character called Theramus in Emberville. Although, you're going to have to wait a little bit before you get to meet her. When early access begins, your story starts with the prologue.

[2:04:51] You're waking in the vitromitus with no idea how you arrived there. Surrounded by the remains of a world that has gone very, very wrong. After surviving your first journey through the darkness, you finally reach Emberville.

[2:05:04] Or at least, what is left of it. The town is broken. Its people are scattered across the vitromitus in something dangerous spreading through the world around you. And naturally, it's been all about the King's World, so I'll say,

[2:05:17] you'll leave Amberville and venture back into the metronomous, exploring a dynamic world filled with dangerous places, unexpected events, powerful enemies, and people waiting to be found. The journey will be challenging, but very rewarding.

[2:05:31] Every character you rescue has their own story arc, Serum. Wait, one second, one second. I had some sound going. Okay, we're good.

[2:05:43] and their own knowledge to share. As you help them and build your relationship, they become part of the game's mechanics and progression. For example, Tanisha is a cartographer,

[2:05:55] so she helps you understand the determinants by unlocking your mini-map and the world map. Others will help you rebuild, develop new crafts, improve your equipment to introduce entirely new systems. As more people return, buildings are restored,

[2:06:08] New possibilities open and the town slowly begins to feel alive again. You'll also receive your own personal estate. A personal space where you can farm, craft, build, store what you discover, and begin creating something that feels like your own home.

[2:06:25] Combat is fast, responsive, and built around experimentation. You're not locked into a traditional class at the beginning of the game. The weapons you use, the skills you master, and the people you meet will shape how you choose to play the game.

[2:06:39] The early access release brings together the opening story, fully voiced characters, dynamic world exploration, combat, progression, town restoration, crafting, farming, gathering, and your personal estate.

[2:06:52] It is the first major chapter and foundation for everything that follows. Over the next 18 months, Emberville will continue to grow through regular improvements and major quarterly updates. New regions will open, new characters will arise with their own stories and mechanics.

[2:07:08] You'll discover new enemy systems and ways to develop your character and your estate. Throughout that journey, we'll be listening closely to the community. Your experiences, ideas, and feedback will help us improve what is already there and shape how Emberville grows on the road to 1.0.

[2:07:25] After 1.0, we have plans to bring Emberville to console, and we will be adding co-op experience, as well as modding support. We'll continue to go through the updates beyond 1.0 without microtransactions or paid DLCs.

[2:07:41] Early access is where your journey begins. We'll see you there. Thank you so much for joining us for this early preview of Emberville.

[2:07:53] We're extremely excited to try it. We can't wait to hear what you think. Awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome. And that is the early access video

[2:08:06] that pretty much everyone's going to be seeing when they get their key here in just a little bit. Oh, my gosh. Okay. Man.

[2:08:20] Bryn, I'm good on that last part right now because I need to take a little break. But let's plan for one of those at some point. I'd love to get Bryn on and maybe Mira too on stream to talk more about Emberville before EA.

[2:08:34] But yeah, we'll want to make that something a bit more official and stuff. So for sure, I'd love to get him on here. Guys, dude, I have no words. Thank you all so much for all of your awesomeness today.

[2:08:48] Death Clover with the $250 tip to the mod team. Thank you, mod team, for all you do. Thanks, Coe and Emberville team. I'm excited for the journey.

[2:09:00] Oh, thank you so much. Really appreciate you helping out our mods, dude. Thank you. Thank you. A lot of people are asking in chat, can I stream with the key I just got? Absolutely. Yes. If you got one of the 500 keys, which, by the way, we may be getting some more.

[2:09:18] So hold tight on that. Hey, Barry, it looks like we just got 300 more keys. Can we pop that in there whenever you have a chance? That'd be great. But thank you, Bryn, for that. But yeah, so this has been an incredible day.

[2:09:34] I know a lot of people are having problems with the token store. I'm sorry. Barry is working on it, man. Barry, sit at the bottom of the sheet. It is not too often that Barry's infrastructure gets overwhelmed like this. So he is working on it. He's making it.

[2:09:46] He's fixing it. Just keep all the feedback coming to him. But I'm sure he's going to be reading chat and seeing that too. But we're going to try to get this up as fast as we can. So, yeah. Yeah, we'll do what we can. Cool.

[2:10:02] All right. So on that note, what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave, and I'm going to take a quick lunch, and then I think I'm going to come back and we're going to play some Don Walker this afternoon because I want to get some more into that. We'll probably do something else.

[2:10:15] I don't know if we're going to do a cozy night, but we're going to figure it out. But, oh, man, it's very emotional. Cody, it looks like you're tired. Dude, the last, this is one of the first big times we've ever shown Emberville. It's been three years coming up to now, and it is, I am still recovering.

[2:10:32] I am still recovering from all this. All right, guys, I'll be back in just a little bit. I'm going to rave you over to twitch.tv slash co, and then we're going to rave back to here. And when I come back, probably in about an hour or so, as always, thank you so much for being here.

[2:10:45] If you have any more questions, feel free to catch me later. There's lots of other people streaming this, so please go check them out. There's lots of other people streaming the Emberville demo, and so go watch, get some keys and stuff from them. You may be able to.

[2:10:57] But on that note, I'm out of here for now. Thank you so much for being here. See you guys soon. Bye-bye.
