Worst Movies of 2026 So Far
45sViewers love hearing about the worst movies of the year, especially with a bold claim that Q1 is the worst quarter.
▶ Play ClipThe video is a comprehensive ranking of all 36 movies the reviewer watched in the first quarter of 2026. The reviewer notes that Q1 is typically a weak period for film releases, and this year was no exception, with many disappointing titles. The ranking goes from worst to best, providing brief critiques for each film.
The reviewer watched 36 movies in Q1 2026, which is typically a weak period for film releases.
Luc Besson's Dracula was ranked last (36th) for being a low-budget copy of Nosferatu and due to the director's controversial background.
The Mortuary Assistant (35th) failed to adapt its video game source material, resulting in a disjointed and unscary film.
The Strangers: Chapter 3 (34th) was criticized for being generic and for giving the killers a backstory that undermined the franchise's core principle.
Return to Silent Hill (32nd) was the biggest disappointment, as director Christophe Gans misunderstood the game's themes of grief, presenting it as a love story.
Psycho Killer (30th), written by the writer of Seven, debuted at 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and was described as the antithesis of Seven.
The reviewer introduced the category 'dad slop' for mediocre, watchable films like Greenland: Migration (28th) and The Wrecking Crew (27th).
Scream 7 (15th) was deemed the worst in the franchise but still watchable, with the reviewer criticizing the behind-the-scenes drama.
Markiplier's Iron Lung (5th) was praised for its impressive self-funded production and unique world-building.
Sam Raimi's Send Help (4th) was hailed as a hilarious and demented return to form, possibly ranking among his best work.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (3rd) was praised as a visually stunning and narratively satisfying zombie film that could serve as a series finale.
Project Hail Mary (1st) starring Ryan Gosling was the standout film of Q1, with the reviewer considering it a potential all-time favorite.
"The title accurately reflects the video's content: a complete ranking of all 36 movies watched in Q1 2026."

Reveals the top-ranked film and the reviewer's high praise for it.
44:06[00:00] Hey everyone, welcome back to the
[00:01] channel. It is finally time to recap all
[00:04] of the movies that I have seen in the
[00:06] first quarter of 2026.
[00:08] If you don't know, the year is always
[00:10] split into four quarters because of 12
[00:12] months and the first quarter is usually
[00:14] where the worst movies of the year come
[00:16] out just for marketing reasons. So, to
[00:20] be honest with you, the first quarter of
[00:22] 2026 has been pretty bad and it's one of
[00:24] the worst first quarters I've had in a
[00:27] long time with movies. But regardless, I
[00:30] have seen 36 films in this quarter
[00:32] [music]
[00:33] of the year and I'm going to be ranking
[00:35] all of them from the worst to the best.
[00:37] So, if you're new around here and you
[00:38] don't know, I'm trying to watch every
[00:40] 2026 movie that I can eventually with
[00:42] the goal of ranking all of them at the
[00:44] end of the year.
[00:45] Right now, my goal is to at least break
[00:48] 100, which is pretty easy, maybe even
[00:51] 150. And making a video on that is going
[00:54] to be outrageous, but it's going to be a
[00:56] lot of fun. So,
[00:58] let's just lock in and let's talk about
[01:00] all 36 of these movies I watched now.
[01:02] Coming in at number 36 is going to be
[01:04] Luc Besson's Dracula. This is a bad
[01:07] movie.
[01:09] It is almost a reheated nachos moment
[01:11] where it basically just takes everything
[01:14] that Robert Eggers did with Nosferatu
[01:16] and adapts it into a slightly different
[01:19] medium of being just a bit more low
[01:21] budget [music] and then calls it a day.
[01:23] On top of that, Luc Besson is a director
[01:26] or Luc Besson or whatever you want to
[01:27] call him is a director that is not a
[01:30] very good person. Uh if you don't know
[01:32] anything about him, look him up, do your
[01:33] own research. I'm not here to talk about
[01:35] that kind of stuff, but he's not a very
[01:37] good person and that doesn't go or that
[01:40] doesn't fare very well for this movie. I
[01:42] try and leave a lot of controversy out
[01:44] of this stuff, but there are sometimes
[01:45] where it just can't happen. And in this
[01:47] case, not only is the movie pretty bad,
[01:49] but that does negatively impact my views
[01:52] on this film as well. So, [music]
[01:54] Dracula is basically just a
[01:58] almost like a just one-for-one copy of
[02:00] Nosferatu, which is an infinitely better
[02:02] movie and this one is coming in at the
[02:05] very bottom of the list at number 36. At
[02:07] number 35, a movie that I thought was
[02:09] just a little bit better than Dracula is
[02:12] going to be The Mortuary Assistant. This
[02:14] is the adaptation of the video game. It
[02:17] was a Shudder original that went to
[02:18] theaters for like a week during
[02:20] Valentine's weekend and then disappeared
[02:23] off the face of the earth and I think
[02:24] it's on Shudder now. If you are bored
[02:26] one day and you're looking for a movie
[02:27] to watch, don't pick this one cuz it is
[02:29] not worth your time.
[02:31] This is a classic case of a movie trying
[02:33] to adapt a game that has multiple
[02:35] endings and it takes all of those
[02:37] endings and puts way too much on its
[02:39] plate and then it fails in every single
[02:42] regard to satisfy all of those needs
[02:45] from that plate. So, what you get is
[02:48] basically just a disgusting
[02:49] Frankenstein's monster of multiple
[02:51] different endings and ideas that don't
[02:54] really mesh together from the game. And
[02:57] on top of that, the writing quality just
[02:58] isn't good enough to sustain interesting
[03:01] characters. So,
[03:03] all of the moments that should be scary
[03:05] or unique or interesting come across
[03:07] very corny and cringe. And all of the
[03:10] charm of the game, all of the best
[03:12] moments from the game, all of the good
[03:13] jump scares, all of the good [music]
[03:15] tension and moments, all of that gets
[03:17] completely left on the cutting board and
[03:19] not even in the final film. There are
[03:21] some things that I like. I like the
[03:23] cinematography, but I don't like the
[03:25] color grading. I somewhat like the two
[03:28] lead actors, but I think that their
[03:29] performances are very bad because the
[03:31] movie has a bad script. So, for every
[03:33] one good thing, there's always some kind
[03:35] of counteractive negative to the film
[03:37] [music] and all of those counteractive
[03:39] negatives stack up to an amount that
[03:42] [music] is
[03:43] insufficient to make this movie good.
[03:45] So, this is a bad movie. It is not worth
[03:47] your time and definitely [music] skip
[03:48] out on Mortuary Assistant. Coming in at
[03:51] number 34 is going to be The Strangers:
[03:53] Chapter 3. And this movie
[03:56] is a continuation of terrible terrible
[03:59] movies. Uh if it wasn't so plainly
[04:02] generic, it may get a few points up just
[04:05] because it's something unique. But just
[04:07] like its predecessors, this movie is
[04:09] painfully generic and that is really
[04:11] what puts it so low. You can make a
[04:14] generic slasher film, but you can't do
[04:16] it to one that has somewhat of an an
[04:19] idealistic principle in The Strangers
[04:21] and The Strangers: Prey at Night. The
[04:23] big principle and the reason it's called
[04:25] The Strangers is because you never see
[04:28] the face of the three killers hunting
[04:30] down the main characters. And so, Renny
[04:33] Harlin decided to take that franchise
[04:36] and give the three strangers a backstory
[04:39] for some unknown reason and it doesn't
[04:42] work. The backstory does not work. There
[04:45] are weird plot holes that make no sense.
[04:47] You get very very vague answers to
[04:50] questions you probably didn't even have
[04:52] when you watched the first or the second
[04:54] or the third movie and nothing really
[04:57] amounts to anything in this franchise.
[04:59] The ending is extremely predictable. It
[05:02] doesn't do anything new. It doesn't do
[05:03] anything interesting and it's not really
[05:06] high budget or high quality writing-wise
[05:08] either.
[05:09] >> [music]
[05:09] >> So, it has nothing going for it and it
[05:11] goes at the bottom of the list just like
[05:12] The Strangers: Chapter 2 last year and
[05:14] The Strangers: Chapter 1 years ago.
[05:16] Coming in at number 33 is going to be
[05:18] Vampires of the Velvet Lounge. This is a
[05:21] low-budget vampire flick with some
[05:23] decent B-movie actors in it, but they
[05:26] cannot save this movie. It kind of gives
[05:28] off the War of the Worlds charm where it
[05:30] is so laughably silly that there is some
[05:33] fun to be had, but it's not as fun in
[05:36] the case of War of the Worlds where you
[05:37] have Ice Cube and you know, doing his
[05:39] zoom cam and stuff like that. Instead,
[05:42] you have vampires and bad acting and
[05:46] there are a lot of fun cute moments that
[05:48] are hilariously terrible that are worth
[05:51] watching this movie with friends just so
[05:53] you can laugh at it. Like a character
[05:55] that constantly says his name over and
[05:57] over again is hilarious.
[05:59] But at the end of the day, this is a
[06:01] movie that I will never think of again,
[06:02] whereas War of the Worlds, even though
[06:04] it's absolutely atrocious, is a movie
[06:06] that I will continue to think about
[06:07] moving forward with my life. So,
[06:10] it's just not a very good movie. It's
[06:11] not worth watching if you're not going
[06:13] to watch it with friends who likes like
[06:15] fun bad movies.
[06:17] Uh there's nothing really good about it.
[06:18] So, this one's also a skip. Coming in at
[06:21] number 32, my biggest disappointment of
[06:23] the year is going to be Return to Silent
[06:25] Hill. This movie fails to not only be an
[06:28] adaptation, but it fails to be a good
[06:30] movie. Christophe Gans made a 2006
[06:33] Silent Hill film that was kind of
[06:36] forgotten about for a long time and
[06:38] became a bit of a cult classic in the
[06:39] last like I would say 5-10 years. Uh it
[06:43] got a sequel 6 years after it came out
[06:45] that was critically dumped on. Viewer
[06:48] like the audience dumped on it, said it
[06:50] was terrible and it is terrible. It's a
[06:52] terrible sequel. But the first movie was
[06:54] always looked at relatively fondly in
[06:56] hindsight and Christophe Gans, the
[06:59] director of that film, came back to do
[07:01] another film to adapt the second game
[07:03] and this film was left on the shelf for
[07:06] like 5 years from what I heard is that
[07:08] they couldn't get a distributor for it
[07:09] because the budget was too low and also
[07:12] the movie ran for too long. So, it was
[07:14] like a low-budget movie that had way too
[07:15] long of a runtime and or something like
[07:18] that. I could be wrong about that, but
[07:19] some some issue like that. And the
[07:22] nobody could would pick it up and then
[07:23] finally Shudder picked it up. They
[07:25] pushed it out into theaters. I think it
[07:26] was Shudder or Screambox, one of the
[07:28] two. They finally pushed it out into
[07:30] theaters and it was bad. It's bad.
[07:33] Christophe Gans fails to adapt any of
[07:35] the nuance or intricacies of Silent Hill
[07:37] 2 in any fascinating way.
[07:40] He takes the wrong approach to the film
[07:42] in general by confusing Silent Hill 2 as
[07:45] a love story rather than a story about
[07:47] grief.
[07:48] It's bad.
[07:50] It doesn't really work at all. For every
[07:53] one cool thing that Christophe Gans does
[07:55] do with the film, there's a million
[07:57] other things that are done wrong. And
[07:59] for example, I like the idea of giving
[08:00] James and Mary some backstories to give
[08:03] a little bit more reasoning for James
[08:04] doing what he's doing. That's not a bad
[08:07] idea. I like that on paper because in
[08:10] the game, you don't really have a reason
[08:11] to go save Mary other than she is your
[08:13] wife. Like that is good enough reasoning
[08:15] for the game and the game does a good
[08:17] job justifying it as you play it,
[08:19] >> [music]
[08:19] >> but I don't like the idea on paper of
[08:21] giving them some backstory. However,
[08:23] instead of doing that as just a thing in
[08:25] the in the film, Christophe Gans takes
[08:27] that as kind of the backbone of the film
[08:30] and the movie doesn't even open up with
[08:32] the iconic bathroom scene. Instead, that
[08:34] happens 15 minutes into the movie and
[08:35] instead we open up with how James and
[08:37] Mary met. And it's really cringe. It's
[08:39] really corny. It doesn't work. And then
[08:41] there's also moments where you find out
[08:43] that Mary is not even a part or is a
[08:45] part of a Silent Hill cult. They're not
[08:47] even married in this movie and just it
[08:49] keeps stacking up over and over again to
[08:51] a point where it gets annoying and just
[08:53] obnoxious.
[08:55] And this movie is bad. It is a bad
[08:58] everything. So, this one is an easy easy
[09:00] skip in my opinion.
[09:02] I have a much much longer review of this
[09:06] movie if you would like to check that
[09:07] out, but as it stands, this is a bad
[09:10] movie. Coming in at number 31 is going
[09:12] to be a bit of a hot take for me and
[09:14] that is going to be Charli XCX's The
[09:15] Moment. Uh before I get into my
[09:18] critiques of this movie cuz I didn't
[09:19] have a video on this one, I do want to
[09:21] give a huge shoutout to Charli XCX. It
[09:24] takes a lot of willpower, a lot of
[09:26] money, a lot of time, a lot of energy to
[09:29] make a movie. And for all of the people
[09:31] who hated on The Weeknd's movie last
[09:34] year,
[09:35] I want you to take into account just how
[09:38] much effort went into that film of
[09:39] especially considering it's compare it's
[09:42] connected to a bigger multimedia
[09:44] project. And I want to appreciate Charli
[09:47] XCX here and say that it is a very
[09:50] talented work of art that she has
[09:51] created. But much like The Weeknd's
[09:55] movie from last year where if you didn't
[09:56] know anything about The Weeknd, you
[09:58] didn't like the movie.
[09:59] I don't really like Charli XCX. I don't
[10:01] like her persona. I don't really know
[10:03] anything about her as a person.
[10:05] And therefore, this movie to me is bad.
[10:08] It I just don't like it.
[10:10] If you got something out of it, if
[10:12] you're a big fan of Charli XCX, I can
[10:14] totally see you enjoying this movie a
[10:16] lot more than I did. But on a
[10:18] fundamental level, I think that this
[10:19] movie doesn't really add anything
[10:21] interesting to the conversation of like
[10:23] death to the the big elites, death to
[10:25] the elite or bring down Amazon, anything
[10:28] like that. I don't think it adds
[10:29] anything in that regard, especially
[10:31] considering you can rent this movie on
[10:33] Amazon Prime.
[10:35] It just doesn't really add anything in
[10:36] that regard.
[10:37] Um
[10:39] I don't think it's very comedically
[10:40] entertaining either. I don't think
[10:42] there's anything visually all that
[10:43] entertaining and I don't think the
[10:45] acting performances are all that grand
[10:46] other than Alexander Skarsgård who is
[10:48] fine in this movie.
[10:50] Uh other than that, I don't think
[10:51] there's anything super grand or
[10:53] incredible about it. But like I said, if
[10:55] you're a Charli XCX fan, maybe you got
[10:57] something out of this that I didn't,
[10:58] just like how I got something out of the
[11:00] Hurry Up Tomorrow last year that you
[11:01] probably didn't get. So
[11:04] I understand. It's totally a fan thing
[11:06] and I'll let you all have that one. So
[11:08] that's what my thoughts are on it, but
[11:10] maybe you like it better than I do.
[11:12] Coming in at number 30 is going to be
[11:14] Psycho Killer, another very
[11:16] disappointing movie for me. Uh written
[11:18] by the guy who wrote Seven. Don't even
[11:20] know how that's possible cuz this movie
[11:22] is the exact antithesis, in my opinion,
[11:25] to Seven.
[11:26] It is a very corny, very on-the-nose,
[11:28] very ridiculous and silly slasher film.
[11:31] It is the lowest Rotten Tomatoes debut,
[11:33] I think, definitely this year, but maybe
[11:35] of all time with it debuting at a 0%.
[11:39] And it's well deserved. It This movie is
[11:41] disappointing. It's embarrassing that
[11:44] it's made by the the writer of Seven,
[11:46] that this movie was even put to film.
[11:49] There are moments in here that are
[11:51] laughably terrible. It's not in a War of
[11:53] the Worlds kind of way either. It's in a
[11:55] way that there is really nothing
[11:56] redeeming about the movie.
[11:58] And
[12:00] I would never watch it again. I would
[12:02] never like to think about it again and
[12:03] it's easily a skip. And it's
[12:04] disappointing, too, because Georgina
[12:06] Campbell is an actress that with given
[12:08] the right material can be pretty good.
[12:10] She's great in Barbarian. She's given
[12:12] really strong material because Zach
[12:14] Cregger is a good writer.
[12:16] But here, she's not given really
[12:18] anything to do.
[12:20] And
[12:21] it comes across like she's a bad actress
[12:23] because she's not given any good
[12:24] material. So
[12:26] it's a bad movie. It's unfortunate that
[12:28] it is, but it is a bad movie. Coming in
[12:30] at number 29 is going to be a movie that
[12:32] is also going to have a rabid fan base
[12:35] for it, but I just did not get an any
[12:37] ounce of appreciation for and that is
[12:39] Forbidden Fruits. And I am not the
[12:42] target audience for this movie. I know
[12:44] that. I knew that going into it and I
[12:46] was still relatively excited to go check
[12:48] it out just because I thought it would
[12:49] be entertaining. And I was not really
[12:51] entertained at all. I thought this movie
[12:53] was way too on-the-nose, way too
[12:56] over-the-top, kind of boring in some
[12:58] areas and just in general wasn't a very
[13:00] fun watch.
[13:02] If you are the target audience for this
[13:04] movie, which you might be, you'll
[13:06] probably get a kick out of it that I
[13:07] didn't get, but it's really just not my
[13:09] thing. It never was going to be my
[13:12] thing. And I just in general didn't
[13:14] really like it on any level, any in any
[13:16] regard. It's just not my thing. So maybe
[13:19] there's somebody out there who loved it,
[13:20] but it wasn't me. Coming in at number 28
[13:23] is going to be our first movie that I'm
[13:24] going to deem dad slop, the category of
[13:28] your dad will watch this movie and he'll
[13:30] have a good time with it because he just
[13:31] doesn't [music] really do the high
[13:34] highbrow films. And that is Greenland:
[13:37] Migration. I don't really hate this
[13:39] movie. It's basically just a rehash of
[13:41] the first movie, but a few years in the
[13:43] future. There's really nothing new about
[13:46] it compared to the first one, compared
[13:47] to other disaster movies. It is pretty
[13:51] much just the first movie again. And
[13:53] that's fine. I think the ending is
[13:55] serviceable. The content of the movie is
[13:57] serviceable. It's just not very good. So
[14:00] it goes at number 28. Similarly is our
[14:02] next dad slop movie at number 27 and
[14:05] that is The Wrecking Crew. This is a
[14:08] straight-to-Amazon Prime,
[14:10] >> [music]
[14:10] >> pretty bottom-of-the-barrel action film.
[14:12] It is
[14:14] one of my least favorite action films
[14:15] that I've seen in the last few years
[14:17] just because it doesn't really do
[14:18] anything all that crazy.
[14:20] >> [music]
[14:20] >> Uh I think that uh Dave Bautista and
[14:22] Jason Momoa are okay. They're fine in
[14:25] this movie. The action is pretty [music]
[14:28] PG-13, kind of bland, generic, which is
[14:30] disappointing. Which it's it sucks even
[14:33] more because the dialogue is so gritty
[14:35] and rated R that you would think the
[14:37] action would be up there, too, but no,
[14:39] it's not. The action's very PG-13, very
[14:42] bland.
[14:42] >> [music]
[14:43] >> And it's just disappointing. It's just
[14:45] not very good. Very similar to Greenland
[14:47] 2 where I don't really have a lot of
[14:48] thoughts on it. It's just not a very
[14:50] good movie. So not worth your time, but
[14:53] maybe you want to add it to your list. I
[14:55] don't know.
[14:56] >> [music]
[14:56] >> At number 26 is going to be Mercy, the
[14:58] Chris Pratt AI movie. Uh my [music]
[15:01] roommate did not really did not like
[15:03] this movie. He In fact, I would say he
[15:05] hated this movie. He thought that Chris
[15:06] Pratt was overacting the whole movie,
[15:08] that the plot was very bland and boring.
[15:11] I didn't really think that. I thought
[15:12] this movie was an infinitely better
[15:14] movie than War of the Worlds. I thought
[15:16] Chris Pratt delivered a decent acting
[15:18] performance. I thought Rebecca Ferguson
[15:20] was pretty good as an AI. I do hate the
[15:23] pro-AI message that this movie gives at
[15:25] the very [music] end for some reason.
[15:28] But other than that, there's not really
[15:29] a lot to hate about this movie. It's
[15:30] just kind of below par. It's just eh.
[15:33] >> [music]
[15:33] >> It's just okay. Uh it's not bad. It's
[15:36] watchable. It's fine. I don't know why
[15:38] it's marketed like an action movie when
[15:40] Chris Pratt doesn't even get to really
[15:41] use a gun at all in this movie, but
[15:45] it's it's it's dad slop at the very end
[15:47] of the day. So there's that. At number
[15:49] 25 is going to be Twisted. This is the
[15:52] uh Darren Lynn Bousman film. If you
[15:54] don't know who Darren Lynn Bousman is,
[15:56] he is the director of Saw like
[15:58] >> [music]
[15:59] >> 3 through 6 or something like that. He
[16:00] directed four of the Saw movies. And
[16:03] it's very clear this is directed by a
[16:05] guy who directed the Saw movies. He very
[16:06] much flaunts that kind of flair in this
[16:09] movie and it's not good, either. The
[16:11] worst part about this movie is the
[16:12] directing and the script. But the best
[16:15] part about this movie is uh Djimon
[16:17] Hounsou and Lauren Luna Viera. Both of
[16:20] them are fantastic and take what would
[16:22] be otherwise a terrible, terrible script
[16:25] to a much, much better level. They are
[16:28] both fantastic in this movie. And it's
[16:30] crazy, too, because it's so low-budget
[16:33] and the script is so bad. But they are
[16:36] able to take what would otherwise be a
[16:38] bottom-of-the-barrel, one-star movie to
[16:41] be a two-star just because they are such
[16:43] good actors.
[16:45] I really enjoy what they do with this
[16:46] film. It's pretty predictable. It's
[16:48] pretty on-the-nose, but the two of them
[16:50] are good and it carries the movie a lot
[16:52] for me.
[16:52] >> [music]
[16:53] >> Coming in at number 24 is going to be
[16:54] Jason Statham's Shelter. Uh Jason
[16:57] Statham is basically his own genre at
[16:59] this point. If you've seen one Jason
[17:00] Statham movie, you've probably seen all
[17:02] of them. This movie is definitely better
[17:04] than uh Working Man from last year. I
[17:07] thought that movie was a very, very
[17:08] bland, kind of boring action movie. This
[17:11] one definitely has a little bit more
[17:12] character to it. There's a little bit
[17:13] more going on. Uh you're not watching
[17:16] Jason Statham use like working man
[17:19] tools, even though he doesn't even do
[17:20] that in that movie. You're actually
[17:22] watching him do some other interesting
[17:23] stuff. So there's a little bit more
[17:25] character to this movie. I think the
[17:26] plot's a little bit more interesting,
[17:28] but it is definitely just a Jason
[17:30] Statham dad slop movie at the end of the
[17:32] day and that's pretty much all it is. So
[17:34] it's fine. It's tolerable. It's just not
[17:37] very good. All right, we're getting into
[17:38] the actually interesting stuff. Coming
[17:40] in at number 23 is going to be Cold
[17:42] Storage. This is kind of like a Stranger
[17:44] Things zombie outbreak movie. It is
[17:47] definitely the worst of the zombie
[17:48] movies I've seen this year and I've
[17:50] shockingly seen a lot of them this year.
[17:52] But uh Joe Keery doesn't really get a
[17:54] lot of material. Georgina Campbell
[17:55] doesn't really get a lot of material. Uh
[17:58] Liam Neeson doesn't get a lot of
[17:59] material. None of the big stars really
[18:01] get that much good material to work with
[18:03] in this movie. And it doesn't really do
[18:06] anything interesting in any other
[18:08] capacity to really carry it. Uh Sosie
[18:11] Bacon's in this movie for like 15
[18:14] minutes, which is kind of disappointing,
[18:16] but it's okay. It's fine. It's
[18:18] watchable. I saw this in theaters
[18:20] opening weekend and thought it was
[18:21] decent. Don't know why it came out on
[18:23] Valentine's Day, but it's solid. It's
[18:25] fun. It it can be a good time if you
[18:27] give it some time to kind of warm up
[18:29] after the first act, but it's just okay.
[18:31] It's it's a fine movie and it's it's
[18:34] watchable. At number 22 is going to be
[18:36] Whistle. This is the kind of Final
[18:38] Destination-esque movie, but instead you
[18:40] have an Aztec death whistle.
[18:42] Uh there are some interesting kills
[18:43] here. They do a lot with the the in the
[18:46] kill department, especially once you get
[18:47] past the opening act hurdle. You get a
[18:50] lot of interesting kills and it
[18:51] definitely pans out to be worth your
[18:53] time. It is better than Final
[18:55] Destination 4, which I think is the
[18:56] worst of the Final Destination movie. So
[18:59] it has that going for it. Uh if you like
[19:01] Final Destination, you'll definitely get
[19:03] a kick out of this one. I think Dafne
[19:04] Keen is pretty good here. Uh not much to
[19:07] say other than that. It's just it's
[19:08] solid. It's a fine movie and it's it's
[19:10] watchable.
[19:11] >> [music]
[19:11] >> At number 21 is going to be the Hulu
[19:13] original Mike and Nick and Nick and
[19:15] Alice. This is the Vince Vaughn, James
[19:18] Marsden leading uh Hulu original. Just
[19:21] came out of about a week ago now, I
[19:23] think. And it's it's quite fun. Uh Vince
[19:25] Vaughn does a little bit here. He's not
[19:27] given too much material with one of his
[19:29] characters, but his other character gets
[19:31] a lot of material. James Marsden's
[19:34] pretty good. I can't think of the
[19:35] leading female actress, but she's also
[19:37] pretty good in this movie.
[19:39] >> [music]
[19:39] >> Uh so they get a lot of material to the
[19:41] three leads. And they they do a decent
[19:44] job with their material they're given,
[19:46] but the script is a little bit generic
[19:48] other than the time travel aspect, which
[19:50] does help the movie a lot. Uh and for
[19:52] the most part, this is not a movie that
[19:54] I would go out of your way to watch if
[19:56] you're dying to find a movie to watch,
[19:58] but it's okay. It's perfectly fine. It's
[20:01] It's serviceable, and I'm glad that I
[20:02] watched it at least. [music] Coming in
[20:04] at number 20 is going to be Night
[20:06] Patrol, a movie that I thought I was
[20:07] going to hate a lot more, but I thought
[20:09] it was just okay. It was just a fine
[20:11] movie.
[20:12] Night Patrol, you've got Justin Long and
[20:14] Freddy Gibbs delivering a really good
[20:16] acting performance actually. However, I
[20:18] am in a camp where I believe Dermot
[20:20] Mulroney is not a good actor. I do not
[20:22] like him in this movie. I've never liked
[20:24] him really in any movie that he's in,
[20:26] but especially this movie, I think he's
[20:28] [music] one of the big nose here. But
[20:30] other than him, I think Justin Long and
[20:33] Freddy Gibbs deliver good performances.
[20:35] The other actors are pretty decent. The
[20:37] movie does do a little bit of
[20:38] over-the-top stuff with the uh
[20:42] with the the the action and the language
[20:44] and the gore, and sometimes it works,
[20:47] sometimes it doesn't. It just really
[20:48] depends. I like the plot of having like
[20:50] an elite task force of cops that are
[20:52] secretly vampires. I think that's a cool
[20:54] angle to take this film.
[20:56] But it just doesn't really amount to
[20:58] anything, and by the end of the film,
[20:59] you have a lot more questions than
[21:01] answers. So, it's a little bit of a
[21:03] caveat, but it's a fine movie. If you
[21:05] like the concept and you think you'd
[21:06] enjoy it, then it's worth your time. So,
[21:09] go check that one out if you if you're
[21:10] interested. Coming in at number 19 is
[21:13] going to be War Machine, the Netflix
[21:15] original film. I would call this the
[21:17] kind of dad slot premium where there is
[21:21] a lot of good stuff to enjoy in terms of
[21:23] the quality of the movie, cuz it is
[21:25] still a Netflix movie, and Netflix,
[21:27] say what you will about Netflix, they do
[21:29] at least put in a lot of money to their
[21:31] movies. So, sometimes that means it's
[21:33] going to be even worse, like with The
[21:34] Electric State last year, but in this
[21:36] case, there's enough money put into this
[21:38] movie that you know it's at least going
[21:39] to be watchable. It does come across
[21:41] like a bit of just like a um join the
[21:44] military PSA announcement, which I I
[21:47] mean, I guess if you want to call it
[21:48] propaganda, yeah, it kind of is, but
[21:51] it's still, you know, watchable. Like
[21:53] it's not the worst movie ever made. It
[21:55] might be the most American movie ever
[21:57] made, and that's cool, I guess, but it's
[21:59] it's it's a fun time. If you want to
[22:01] watch Alan Ritchson go up against a big
[22:03] robot, especially after he just, you
[22:05] know, got into that fight with his
[22:07] neighbor, then maybe you'll get
[22:08] something out of it. It's fun. It's kind
[22:10] of like Transformers and Predator had a
[22:12] baby, but it's a little bit more generic
[22:14] than both of those movies. So,
[22:16] >> [music]
[22:16] >> yeah, it's fun. It can be fun at times,
[22:18] and it's it's premium dad slot, is what
[22:20] I would call it, coming in at number 19.
[22:22] At number
[22:23] think this is our last streaming movie,
[22:25] thank God, cuz I am tired of streaming
[22:27] movies, and that is The Rip. This is
[22:29] definitely the best of the streaming
[22:30] movies, mainly because you have Matt
[22:32] Damon and Ben Affleck and Steven Yeun,
[22:34] three very, very good actors who are
[22:37] carrying this movie. So, [music]
[22:40] that helps a lot. You've also got a
[22:42] decent little plot set up of Miami cops
[22:45] that are struggling with kind of
[22:47] like rats in the in the in the police
[22:50] force, and they're trying to catch them.
[22:52] So, they come across all this money, and
[22:54] they got to use it. It's a good little
[22:55] plot set up, and it's just a solid crime
[22:57] thriller. It's not incredible. It's not
[22:59] the greatest movie ever made, but if you
[23:01] like the lead actors and you like the
[23:02] plot set up, you might have a fun time
[23:04] with it. And it is the best streaming
[23:05] movie I've seen thus far this year. So,
[23:07] there's that. [music] Coming in at
[23:09] number 17 is going to be Primate, the
[23:11] ape horror movie directed by
[23:13] Johannes Roberts, I think is his name.
[23:16] Uh and it's pretty good. It's solid. I
[23:18] like all of Johannes's other movies. I
[23:21] really like his Resident Evil movie. I
[23:22] know that's a hot take, but I really
[23:24] enjoy that movie. I think it's the best
[23:25] Resident Evil live-action movie by far.
[23:28] I enjoy his Strangers movie. I think
[23:30] it's the best of The Strangers
[23:31] franchise.
[23:33] So,
[23:34] going into the going into this movie,
[23:36] I knew I liked the director. I just was
[23:38] kind of worried about the concept, but
[23:40] after watching it, it's solid. It's just
[23:42] a solid movie. It's a fine. The
[23:44] practical effects are really good and
[23:46] are probably the biggest thing to gush
[23:48] about. Um The directing is also quite
[23:51] solid. The score is very, very good.
[23:53] Some very John Carpenter-esque scoring
[23:56] going on, which is very fun. And
[23:58] overall, it's just a solid little
[23:59] slasher flick. If you like horror
[24:01] movies, it's worth putting on your list
[24:03] just so you can have experienced it.
[24:05] Coming in at number 16 is a movie that a
[24:07] lot of other people will enjoy a lot,
[24:09] lot more than me, but that is going to
[24:11] be The Plague. Once again, just not the
[24:13] target audience for this one. I like the
[24:15] concept. I think the filmmaking is very,
[24:17] very solid, but it's not one of those
[24:19] movies that is necessarily
[24:21] life-changing.
[24:22] If you were somebody who was bullied
[24:24] during your middle school going into
[24:26] high school years, if you're someone who
[24:29] kind of reminisces a lot about those
[24:30] years of your life, or you're somebody
[24:32] who struggled during those years of your
[24:34] life, or you are in those years of your
[24:36] life, then this movie will absolutely
[24:38] resonate with you in a way that it never
[24:40] did with me. And all power to you. If
[24:43] you get some kind of powerful resonance
[24:45] with that with those feelings to this
[24:47] movie, and you want to put it at the
[24:48] very top of your list, my roommate, for
[24:51] example, he loved this movie and put it
[24:53] really, really high. And this, unlike
[24:55] other movies on the list, is one that I
[24:57] will not argue with anyone about. If you
[24:59] have this up at the top, if you have
[25:01] this up at the bottom, wherever you put
[25:03] it, no argument from me, because this is
[25:05] totally a personal
[25:08] uh connection kind of movie. I've had a
[25:10] lot of time to think about it, cuz it
[25:11] was one of the first movies I saw this
[25:12] year, and that's really how I feel about
[25:14] it. I think on an artistic level, it is
[25:17] really solid, but on a plot level, it
[25:19] just depends on how much you resonate
[25:21] with it personally. So, goes in at
[25:23] number 16. At number 15 is going to be
[25:26] another hot take, because I did say that
[25:28] Luc Besson's movie was very low on my
[25:30] list for controversy, which I try to
[25:33] exclude a lot of controversy when I talk
[25:35] about things. I don't like to go in
[25:36] detail about that. I don't like that to
[25:38] buttle my opinion. And I feel like it's
[25:40] a little bit different when it comes
[25:41] down to the studio being the problem and
[25:43] a singular person being the problem.
[25:46] Dracula has the benefit or has the
[25:48] sorry, the non-benefit, the
[25:51] being just a bad movie on its own. And
[25:54] here we have Scream 7 at number 15,
[25:56] where this movie is fine. It's a fine
[25:59] movie that has a lot of really, really
[26:02] bad behind-the-scenes drama coinciding
[26:04] with it that is going to make people
[26:06] hate it a lot more than I do.
[26:08] I do not support or condone anything to
[26:12] do with this movie and the way that it
[26:14] was made. I think firing the two lead
[26:16] actresses is the worst decision that
[26:18] they've ever made with this franchise.
[26:21] I think a lot of the choices they've
[26:22] made behind the scenes are terrible, but
[26:24] [music] I can't deny this movie is fine.
[26:26] It's watchable. It's not the worst thing
[26:28] I've ever seen. Is it the worst of the
[26:30] franchise? Oh, absolutely. In every
[26:32] regard, it is, but it is not the worst
[26:34] movie I've ever seen. And
[26:37] as somebody who Scream is their favorite
[26:39] horror franchise, I do hate that this is
[26:42] the worst, and I don't want to like bash
[26:45] it just because, you know, I don't like
[26:48] I I don't feel like bashing the movie,
[26:50] cuz it doesn't really deserve that in
[26:52] terms of
[26:53] it the quality of it. It just is okay.
[26:57] It's just fine. So, it's going to go in
[26:59] here at number 15. Coming in at number
[27:02] 14 is We Bury the Dead, the Daisy Ridley
[27:05] zombie film that came out very early
[27:07] this year.
[27:08] If you imagine an episode of The Walking
[27:11] Dead that's like a bottle episode, like
[27:13] that just follows one character and
[27:14] gives them a bit of a character arc, it
[27:16] just kind of feels like one of those,
[27:18] but stretched out for an about 2 hours,
[27:21] and it works. Daisy Ridley is very, very
[27:23] good in this movie. One of her best
[27:26] acting performances that I've seen. The
[27:28] zombie apocalypse gets kind of pulled to
[27:30] the back burner to just grow her
[27:32] character throughout the film.
[27:34] And the only thing that really holds it
[27:35] back from being a lot better is A, just
[27:37] I've seen better zombie movies, but B,
[27:39] is that there are a few sequences in the
[27:41] movie that I didn't really think made
[27:42] that much sense, or just coherently, the
[27:45] movie doesn't follow the most strict
[27:47] narrative pattern.
[27:50] I like the place that we begin. I like
[27:51] the place that we end. I wish that the
[27:54] zombie apocalypse was a little bit more
[27:55] important to the film, because there's
[27:57] not a lot of zombie stuff going on, but
[28:00] regardless, it's a good zombie film, all
[28:02] things considered. So, it's going to go
[28:03] in at number 14. At number 13 is going
[28:07] to be another zombie film, and that is
[28:09] This Is Not a Test. This is a very
[28:11] low-budget B movie. I think this is a
[28:13] Shudder or Independent Film Company
[28:15] movie.
[28:16] It's an adaptation of a book of the same
[28:18] name.
[28:19] The director, this is one of his one of
[28:21] his first movies, I think. And it's it's
[28:24] fun. It's a fun movie. All of the
[28:26] reviews I've seen for this are very low,
[28:28] all things considered, and I thought
[28:29] this was actually quite a solid little
[28:31] budget movie. I know people are tend to
[28:33] be very harsh on lower budget movies,
[28:35] but for the most part, I really like it.
[28:37] I thought the characters were all very
[28:38] interesting, [music] and the ways that
[28:40] their characters unfolded were all very
[28:41] interesting.
[28:43] You follow high schoolers stuck inside
[28:46] of their high school as the apocalypse
[28:47] unfolds around them, and they have to
[28:49] deal with like their mental health and
[28:51] their their each other and stuff like
[28:53] that. And the way that they make
[28:55] insufferable characters, but also make a
[28:57] lot of them lovable, and they have a lot
[28:59] of dynamics that are very intertwined
[29:01] and interesting, works out very well.
[29:03] And it's just a fun movie. It's a fun
[29:05] little zombie flick. I think more people
[29:07] need to watch lower budget movies, cuz
[29:09] every once in a while you'll get a movie
[29:10] like this that I think is severely
[29:12] underrated. So, that is going to be This
[29:14] Is Not a Test at number 13.
[29:17] All right. Coming in at number 12 is
[29:19] going to be Undertow, the podcast horror
[29:21] movie.
[29:23] I made an extensive video on Undertow,
[29:25] but my general thoughts are that there
[29:27] are a ton of plot holes, and the
[29:31] characters don't really make any sense
[29:32] or do anything interesting in this
[29:34] movie.
[29:35] But what saves it is the scares and the
[29:37] horror elements.
[29:39] >> [music]
[29:39] >> Watching this movie twice was an
[29:42] interesting experience, considering
[29:43] every other movie on here I've only seen
[29:45] once. And
[29:47] while I do think that the scares and the
[29:50] sound design are very well done and very
[29:52] scary I
[29:54] the caveat to that is that the plot is
[29:55] very weak. [music] I kind of predicted
[29:57] that this is how this movie was going to
[29:59] play out when I had seen the trailer
[30:01] where I was going to think it was a
[30:02] very, very scary, but then the plot was
[30:04] just a little bit on the mediocre side.
[30:07] And [music] in the case of this movie,
[30:09] we get a very generic horror trope plot
[30:12] with some good scares to balance it out.
[30:15] You kind of get a little bit of sinister
[30:16] elements, but it's way less interesting
[30:19] than Sinister. So, [music]
[30:21] I don't know. I really like this movie.
[30:23] It's It's okay. It's solid. I I really
[30:26] enjoy it. It's just not [music]
[30:27] incredible. So, it comes in at number
[30:29] 12.
[30:30] Coming in at number 11 is going to be
[30:32] Dead Man's Wire. This is a Bill
[30:35] Skarsgård, Dakery Montgomery leading
[30:37] movie based on the true story of a man
[30:39] who was kidnapped and held at gunpoint
[30:41] on a on a dead man's wire. I made
[30:44] another This is one of my first reviews
[30:45] that I did, so the quality is not very
[30:47] good, but it is a movie that I did a
[30:49] bigger review on because I was very
[30:51] interested in it and it was very fun to
[30:52] watch. It's definitely a very different
[30:54] movie and it's one of the only movies on
[30:56] here that is super memorable for its
[30:58] unique [music] style. The dialogue is
[31:00] very like awkward and quirky in this
[31:02] movie and for a long time during the
[31:04] runtime, I thought that was kind of just
[31:06] a
[31:07] bad writing moment, but as the movie
[31:08] went on, I got much more more interested
[31:11] into it.
[31:12] >> [music]
[31:12] >> And by the end of the movie when they
[31:13] were showing the real clips
[31:15] of stuff happening,
[31:17] you really get to see how the weird
[31:20] scripting is because that's how they
[31:22] really behaved during the event and it
[31:23] was more It wasn't really tense, it was
[31:26] awkward during the real encounter.
[31:27] [music]
[31:28] And it's very interesting. It's a very
[31:29] well-done movie. There's a lot of really
[31:31] interesting stuff they do with camera
[31:32] work here and it's just a lot of fun.
[31:34] So, if you like either of those two
[31:36] leading actors, you like Colman Domingo
[31:38] also. He's in this movie a lot and he's
[31:40] really good.
[31:41] >> [music]
[31:41] >> If you like any of those things,
[31:42] definitely worth your time. If you like
[31:44] kind of like a bio pic, I guess, or like
[31:46] a based on a true story, I guess, is a
[31:48] better way to put it.
[31:49] Go check this [music] one out. It It's
[31:50] definitely worth your time. Coming in at
[31:52] number 10 is going to be Ready or Not 2:
[31:54] Here I Come. I was a little disappointed
[31:57] in this movie. I do think it's better
[31:58] than average, but I was a little
[32:00] disappointed in this film all things
[32:02] considered. Ready or Not was a very big
[32:05] surprise for me. I went into the
[32:07] original. I actually watched the
[32:08] original just a few weeks before this
[32:09] came out because I was excited for this
[32:12] movie and thought it was going to be
[32:13] pretty good from the trailer. The first
[32:15] movie shocked me. I really enjoyed it a
[32:16] lot more than I even thought I was going
[32:18] to. And so, going into the second one, I
[32:19] was pretty excited, but the second one
[32:22] kind of just feels like the same movie
[32:24] again, but now you have Kathryn Newton
[32:25] in here. The writing quality is a little
[32:28] bit worse, which is shocking because
[32:30] it's still written and directed by the
[32:31] same people. So,
[32:33] >> [music]
[32:34] >> I was a little confused on how the
[32:35] writing quality seemed to dip down. I
[32:37] think this is the worst of Gillettin
[32:39] Open's work. I enjoy Scream 5 and 6 and
[32:42] Ready or Not 1 better than this movie.
[32:45] Um
[32:46] the gore has been turned up a lot. The
[32:48] language has been turned turned up a
[32:50] lot. And I don't know, it's definitely
[32:53] just not the greatest movie of all time,
[32:55] but there are a lot of good moments
[32:57] here. It's still fun. It's still
[32:58] lighthearted and enjoyable. And it's
[33:01] just a fun movie. So, if you like the
[33:03] first one, it's worth watching the
[33:04] second one, but I wouldn't recommend the
[33:06] second one outside of just completing
[33:08] that
[33:09] >> [music]
[33:09] >> that world. Coming in at number nine is
[33:12] going to be They Will Kill You. The
[33:13] movie that I thought was going to
[33:15] literally just be reheating the nachos
[33:16] of Ready or Not and then it was
[33:18] scheduled to come out the same day as
[33:20] Ready or Not 2. It got delayed for a
[33:22] week and now we're here. And I enjoyed
[33:24] it a little bit more than Ready or Not
[33:26] 2. I don't think it's a perfect movie,
[33:27] but I like the inspiration and the style
[33:30] that they took. The way that I explain
[33:32] this movie to everyone that I talk to is
[33:34] if you take
[33:35] >> [music]
[33:35] >> Uma Thurman's character, the Bride, out
[33:37] of Kill Bill, place her into Ready or
[33:40] Not, so you have her get hunted down by
[33:42] like a devil cult. You have that take
[33:44] place in a hotel that kind of looks like
[33:46] the one from The Shining in terms of
[33:48] like the way that it's designed, not
[33:49] really like conceptually, just the way
[33:51] that it looks.
[33:52] And then, [music] you let that movie
[33:54] that I just described to you be directed
[33:56] by a clone of Sam Raimi that ever so
[33:58] slightly forgot how to direct a movie.
[34:01] And then you get this movie. There's a
[34:02] lot of weird Sam Raimi {slash} Quentin
[34:04] Tarantino camera work moments that go
[34:06] on. It's a very Kill Bill inspired movie
[34:09] in terms of the like functionality of it
[34:11] and the way that like it flows and it
[34:13] runs.
[34:14] But the problem with the movie that puts
[34:16] it a little bit lower on the list is
[34:17] that the writing quality
[34:20] which I feel like because of how fun the
[34:22] directing is, the writing quality was
[34:24] promised to be a lot better and it's
[34:26] not. The writing quality cannot reach
[34:27] the same standards as the directing. So,
[34:30] you get characters that don't really
[34:31] have clear motivations. You get very non
[34:35] emotional moments. You don't really get
[34:37] any emotion from the actual plot. And at
[34:40] the end of the day, you're basically
[34:41] just getting a hack and slash
[34:44] nonstop like
[34:45] moving script. And that's about all you
[34:47] get here. So, it's fun. It's bloody.
[34:50] It's lethal. It's just not incredible.
[34:53] So, it comes in at number nine.
[34:55] Coming in at number eight is going to be
[34:57] How to Make a Killing. This is a movie
[34:58] that I thought was going to be very,
[34:59] very high on my list, but it's just
[35:01] solid. This is an A24 movie with Glen
[35:04] Powell in the leading role. Glen Powell
[35:07] is an absolute star. I have to say that.
[35:09] This is not my favorite Glen Powell
[35:11] movie. I enjoyed The Running Man from
[35:12] last year a lot more and some other
[35:14] stuff, too. But
[35:16] on his track record right now, I really
[35:18] am liking what I'm seeing with his
[35:19] career. And he is a star. He is
[35:21] absolutely able to carry even a bad
[35:23] movie on his back. And here in How to
[35:25] Make a Killing, he does in fact carry
[35:27] this movie on his back. Even the other
[35:29] good acting performances, I still think
[35:31] he outshines. He is able to take this
[35:34] movie that would otherwise have been
[35:36] maybe a five or a six out of 10 to maybe
[35:38] a seven or an eight. And that is very,
[35:41] very commendable. I enjoyed this movie
[35:44] simply because Glen Powell is very good.
[35:46] I think the plot, while it is a little
[35:47] generic, is still interesting. And Glen
[35:50] Powell being here is able to carry that
[35:52] to a different level. So, it comes in
[35:54] [music] at number eight. At number seven
[35:56] is a movie that I thought I was not
[35:58] going to like and clearly a lot of
[35:59] people don't like this movie, which I
[36:01] was shocked by because I thought this
[36:02] would have been a heavy hitter for a ton
[36:04] of people. And that is The Bride. This
[36:07] is Maggie Gyllenhaal's not her
[36:09] directorial debut, but one of her
[36:10] movies. I don't know how many she has,
[36:12] but one of her movies. And it's
[36:14] basically
[36:15] a good way to explain it is just a
[36:17] feminist approach to making Joker or I
[36:20] guess maybe it's just kind of like Joker
[36:21] Folie à Deux. I I don't know how to say
[36:23] that word. I may have just butchered the
[36:24] name of that, but it's kind of like
[36:25] that, except it's a Frankenstein's Bride
[36:28] retelling. And there's a lot of things I
[36:29] really like about it. Um but for
[36:32] everything I liked, you know, there's
[36:33] always that one thing I don't like. So,
[36:34] [music] we'll get into that. But what I
[36:36] really like here is I really, really
[36:38] enjoy the two acting performances. I've
[36:40] seen a little bit of hate towards um
[36:44] Jessie Buckley's acting here and I don't
[36:46] know how. I think Jessie Buckley and
[36:48] Christian Bale are both absolutely
[36:50] phenomenal in their roles here. I think
[36:52] this is some great performances by the
[36:55] the both of them.
[36:56] Jake Gyllenhaal also makes an appearance
[36:58] here and he's good for the time he's in,
[37:00] but the real stars are definitely
[37:02] Buckley and Bale who [music] just excel
[37:04] in this movie. The script is a little
[37:07] bit on the bland side. I don't love a
[37:09] lot of the stuff they do. A lot of the
[37:10] bigger ideas this movie has don't really
[37:12] connect with any good connective tissue.
[37:15] And the big issue for me is going to be
[37:16] the personification of Mary Shelley. I
[37:19] thought that was the most corny and
[37:21] cringe thing this movie did. And if that
[37:24] wasn't there, if they did something else
[37:25] instead of that, I could have even seen
[37:27] this being in my top five maybe cuz I
[37:29] really enjoyed how artsy and fun this
[37:31] movie is. But that one thing really,
[37:33] really held it back for me. So, that was
[37:35] a big negative. But overall, I give this
[37:37] one a positive rating, so it comes in at
[37:39] number seven.
[37:40] Coming in at number six is going to be
[37:42] Crime 101. This is what I would call the
[37:45] cream of the crop dad slop movie. Amazon
[37:49] MGM has put out two movies that I think
[37:51] are actually very, very good this year
[37:53] and this is one of them. I enjoy Chris
[37:55] Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Barry Keoghan,
[37:58] and Mark Ruffalo in this film. I think
[38:01] all four all four of them do a pretty
[38:03] good job with all the material they are
[38:05] given. It's a very different role for
[38:07] all of them. It's not like MCU-ified
[38:09] like a lot of the movies that
[38:11] Hemsworth and Ruffalo appear in. It's
[38:14] very much its own thing and I I
[38:16] appreciate it and commend it for that.
[38:18] It's a very unique film. It has a lot of
[38:20] connect connective tissue between all of
[38:22] its major ideas. It never really has a
[38:24] dull moment where I get bored. And at
[38:26] the end of the day, it just it's a solid
[38:28] little crime thriller.
[38:30] It is a good time. I saw it in IMAX,
[38:32] which definitely helped a lot, but yeah,
[38:33] I think it's [music] a solid movie.
[38:35] Coming in at number five is going to be
[38:37] Markiplier's Iron Lung. This is a bit of
[38:40] a hot take cuz I know that if you're not
[38:41] a big Markiplier person, you might have
[38:43] this one lower. But to be honest with
[38:44] you, not only did I enjoy the movie just
[38:46] because I I do appreciate Markiplier and
[38:49] I thought it was a fun movie, but I
[38:52] wanted to put this one up here mainly
[38:54] also on principle because it's deserving
[38:57] of such a high placement, honestly. I
[38:59] think a lot of people need to take a
[39:01] step back and look at how [music]
[39:02] impressive it is that one man was able
[39:04] to self-fund a movie that uses a
[39:07] practical submarine set on stilts.
[39:11] He pays for all of the blood, wrote the
[39:13] script himself, the movie stars himself.
[39:16] It follows a very interesting, unique
[39:19] universe. It's based on a video game
[39:21] that is indie and made by one person.
[39:24] And
[39:26] it's self-distributed. Markiplier didn't
[39:28] go through the means of getting Amazon
[39:31] or Shudder or the independent film
[39:33] company to push out his movie. He
[39:36] >> [music]
[39:36] >> by his own hands pushed this movie out
[39:39] into theaters. And I think just for all
[39:40] those things alone, it's commendable and
[39:42] deserves a very high placement on
[39:44] everyone's list. But even if you really
[39:46] despise the movie, you have to
[39:48] acknowledge that those things are cool.
[39:50] But for me personally, not only are
[39:51] those things cool, but I enjoyed the
[39:53] movie. It definitely moves at a snail's
[39:55] pace sometimes. That is unavoidable.
[39:58] And I don't mind it either because I
[40:00] have fun watching it. I I think it's
[40:02] interesting world building and it's just
[40:05] a fun movie. It's
[40:06] >> [music]
[40:06] >> It's fun. It's a good movie and I
[40:08] enjoyed it. So, Iron Lung is going to be
[40:10] at number five. I don't have much else
[40:11] to say about it. [music] Coming in at
[40:13] number four is going to be Send Help.
[40:16] Sam Raimi came back with a bang for
[40:19] rated R movies and made this one. And it
[40:22] is not only absolutely hilarious,
[40:24] absolutely demented, and a little bit
[40:26] like a rom-com, but it is also just a
[40:29] really, really good movie and it is
[40:30] probably
[40:32] possibly just [music] just maybe my
[40:36] favorite of Sam Raimi's entire
[40:38] filmography.
[40:40] I'd have to watch it again to like 100%
[40:43] clarify cuz I don't know if I like it
[40:46] better than Evil Dead 2 and Army of
[40:48] Darkness. I love both of those movies a
[40:49] lot. But
[40:52] right now, I do say that I like it more.
[40:55] So, I don't know. It It's a It's a bit
[40:57] of a toss-up right now, but it's really
[40:59] good. I like the setting. I like the
[41:01] acting. I think Dylan O'Brien and Rachel
[41:03] McAdams especially deliver heavy-hitting
[41:07] performances, some of the best acting
[41:08] performances that we will see this year.
[41:11] And
[41:13] it's just all around a really fun time.
[41:15] Sam Raimi has not lost any of his touch.
[41:17] I mean, I even enjoy his Doctor Strange
[41:19] movie just because I love his directing,
[41:21] but um yeah, he's not lost his touch. He
[41:23] does a great job here and it's
[41:25] definitely worth your time. So, go check
[41:26] this one out. Coming in at number three
[41:28] is going to be 28 Years Later: The Bone
[41:30] Temple. I've done a review on this one
[41:32] also just like Send Help, just like a
[41:33] lot of other stuff where I basically
[41:35] just gloated about it for like 20
[41:37] minutes. And uh yeah, it deserves all of
[41:39] it. Only uh you know, visually appealing
[41:42] level, it's very, very well shot.
[41:44] There's a lot of good allegory. It's a
[41:46] very unique zombie film in the sense
[41:47] that it doesn't really do anything that
[41:49] other zombie movies have done and it
[41:51] takes all of the pieces that didn't
[41:52] really make any sense whatsoever in 28
[41:55] Years Later and adapts them into a much,
[41:58] much more well-put, well-diverse
[42:00] narrative that has a very concluding
[42:02] note. And sometimes after I watched it
[42:05] my second time especially, I started to
[42:07] think like why were even going to make a
[42:09] trilogy off of this? Because this
[42:10] movie's ending is so fantastic that we
[42:14] don't even need another movie. We've
[42:15] really answered all the questions and
[42:17] gotten everything we need out of the
[42:18] film. Why even make another movie? So, I
[42:21] am excited to see what they do with this
[42:22] franchise. I loved this movie. I thought
[42:25] it was very good, probably my second
[42:26] favorite zombie film of all time.
[42:28] But
[42:30] it is just very interesting to see that
[42:31] we're getting another one and I wonder
[42:33] what they're going to do with it.
[42:35] Coming in at number two is going to be a
[42:37] movie that I didn't expect to get up
[42:38] this high, but after a lot of
[42:40] contemplating, it made it to my number
[42:41] two spot and that is Good Luck, Have
[42:43] Fun, Don't Die. I was not skeptical. I
[42:47] was very excited about this movie
[42:49] actually. It was in my top 20 video, uh
[42:51] my top 20 most anticipated video just
[42:53] like Bone Temple, just like Send Help.
[42:56] Uh it was in that list of movies and it
[42:59] was kind of towards the bottom, maybe at
[43:01] the very bottom. I wasn't expecting it
[43:02] to get up this high. I loved this movie.
[43:06] I thought this was a fantastic little
[43:08] sci-fi comedy. There's elements of time
[43:10] travel and uh artificial intelligence
[43:14] being like gods and you know, it does a
[43:16] lot with the kind of ever-changing AI
[43:19] spectrum of the world. And it's just a
[43:21] really, really on the nose, but still
[43:24] really fun sci-fi comedy that absolutely
[43:28] is just such a fun watch. I don't know
[43:31] how else to put it, honestly. I'm
[43:32] struggling to come up with good words
[43:33] for it, but it is just a very fun movie
[43:35] to watch and if you like sci-fi
[43:37] comedies, you like Sam Rockwell, you
[43:39] like anybody in this cast really or you
[43:40] just want to watch a comedy that feels
[43:42] like an original comedy, this is the one
[43:45] for you. It is a lot of fun and is worth
[43:47] your time, absolutely. And coming in at
[43:49] number one, the best movie this year,
[43:51] the only movie on this entire list that
[43:53] I think I would watch like religi-
[43:55] religiously cuz it was that good. Uh it
[43:58] It's pretty
[43:59] honestly cookie-cutter that this is
[44:00] going at the top. It's kind of a generic
[44:02] take because everyone's going to be
[44:04] putting it here. Uh and that is Project
[44:06] Hail Mary. This is Ryan Gosling, one of
[44:09] his finest works. Uh
[44:11] you know, I love Blade Runner. That's my
[44:13] favorite movie of all time, Blade Runner
[44:14] 2049. But um it's not better than that.
[44:17] I don't think it's better than that. Uh
[44:19] but my one of my other favorite movies,
[44:21] probably my top 20, top 25 is Drive,
[44:25] Ryan Gosling in Drive. Uh I think it's
[44:27] better than that. I think it's better
[44:28] than Drive tenfold. Uh on a filmmaking
[44:31] level, on a script, visual, whatever
[44:34] level, uh I think it's better than that.
[44:36] So,
[44:38] it with more watches, but second, third
[44:40] watch, this could easily break into my
[44:41] top 25 movies of all time. But um I know
[44:45] that's a bland bowl like bland and
[44:47] boring take and I come across like I'm
[44:49] just, you know, another plebeian
[44:50] watching movies, whatever. I don't even
[44:53] care. I love this movie. I I Ryan
[44:54] Gosling has grown into one of, if not,
[44:57] my favorite actor of all time.
[44:59] Uh and this movie has sold me on pretty
[45:01] much anything he's in. So, if he ever
[45:03] pops up in another movie, I will be
[45:04] there day one to watch it.
[45:06] And yeah, that's going to be the entire
[45:08] list. I I don't have anything else to
[45:09] say about Project Hail Mary that I
[45:10] didn't say in my video or you probably
[45:12] haven't heard on the internet from
[45:13] everyone else.
[45:14] I mean, it's it's fantastic. It's a
[45:16] great movie. Um to be honest with you,
[45:18] 2026 has been a pretty bad year for
[45:21] movies. Uh Project Hail Mary lays as a
[45:23] big outlier in a move in a year of
[45:26] pretty below-par movies. Um I would say
[45:29] my top five are movies that I would
[45:31] proudly own on physical media and keep
[45:34] and love and cherish. And everything
[45:36] below that is stuff that I'm either glad
[45:38] that I watch and I would never, ever
[45:40] touch again with a 10-ft pole or stuff
[45:42] that I'm glad I watch and I would maybe
[45:44] watch it again if I was under the right
[45:45] circumstance. So,
[45:47] that's going to do it. That's all of the
[45:49] quarter one movies I've seen. I am
[45:51] working on hopefully maybe a review for
[45:54] tomorrow. I'm seeing a secret screening.
[45:56] I don't know what the movie could
[45:57] possibly be. So, I'll be making a video
[46:00] talking about it so you all can find out
[46:01] firsthand what that was. And also the
[46:04] Super Mario Galaxy movie and the drama
[46:06] come out this this week. So, I'll be
[46:08] making videos on those hopefully. And
[46:10] yeah, that's going to do it for me. I
[46:11] hope you all enjoyed. This is a much
[46:13] longer video than normal. So, hope you
[46:15] all enjoyed that and I will see you all
[46:16] in the next one.
[46:18] Peace out.
