The video addresses the common issue of Shopify stores receiving traffic but not converting it into sales. The host, Mac, explains that the problem often lies in the store's setup rather than the products or marketing. He provides a comprehensive guide on optimizing various aspects of the store, including user experience, product pages, checkout, offers, and trust-building elements, to improve conversion rates.
Many Shopify stores get traffic but no sales due to poor conversion optimization, not product or marketing issues.
Conversion rate is the percentage of visits that result in a purchase. Example: 7 out of 100 visitors = 7% conversion rate. Higher conversion rates mean more sales without increasing traffic.
Ensure the store looks good on mobile devices. Use Shopify's mobile preview to check. Avoid large images that look good on desktop but break on mobile.
Showcase products on the front page so visitors don't have to search. This is crucial for ad traffic that lands on the homepage.
When running ads, link directly to the specific product page, not the homepage, to reduce friction.
Use high-quality, realistic photos. Avoid too many photos to prevent decision fatigue. Consider adding FAQs, usage images, and customer reviews. Study competitor product pages for inspiration.
Reviews build trust. Use Shopify apps to collect reviews or create them with friends/family. Encourage customers to leave reviews.
Offer multiple payment options, especially for international sales. Use Shopify Payments for card payments, but consider Airwallex for multi-currency and alternative payment methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, Afterpay.
International customers face double currency conversion, adding costs. Airwallex helps by holding funds in customer's currency and paying suppliers in local currency, avoiding extra conversion fees.
People love deals. Use discounts, free shipping, and bundle offers to increase order volume. Apps like Catching Bundles can help. Set spending thresholds for free shipping (e.g., $45-$50).
Use popups to capture emails in exchange for discounts. Set up a welcome series with Omnisend: first email with discount, reminder, and last chance offer. This retargets customers who didn't purchase.
Be transparent about shipping times, production times, and return policies. Underpromise and overdeliver. Provide size charts for apparel. Set up policies in Shopify and use ChatGPT for custom policies.
Use free social media and Pinterest strategies to increase traffic. Focus on one platform at a time. This also provides feedback and data for optimization.
To turn traffic into sales, Shopify store owners must systematically optimize user experience, product pages, checkout, offers, and trust signals. Implementing these changes can significantly improve conversion rates and ultimately increase revenue.

13:21[00:02] Shopify stores all the time that quietly kills your sales. And the worst part is realize that it's happening. And it really has nothing to do with your products, your marketing strategy, or your pricing at all. And if you're
[00:16] getting traffic to your store, but not getting sales, the odds are is that your store is not actually set up to convert. So, in this video today, I'm going to walk you through how to take the traffic that's coming to your store and actually
[00:29] turn it into sales. And we'll talk about ways too that you can boost traffic if end of the video. But we're going to talk about things that can really help your optimization such as your checkout pages being optimized, different payment
[00:43] options in your store, apps and things to make your user experience better for your customer, and a lot more. And if you're new here, hi, I'm Mac. I post income, and different ways to make money online. And I'd love for you to be a
[00:56] So, first, let's talk about conversions and what exactly that means for your online store and what a conversion rate is. So, a conversion rate is the percentage of online store visits that actually result in someone making a
[01:10] purchase. So, for example, if a 100 people come to your online store and that means that your conversion rate would be 7%. And higher conversion rates mean more sales without necessarily increasing the traffic. Because if we
[01:24] were able to get more sales from that 100 people that visited, our conversion rate would be higher. And that's why it's so important to optimize. So very first thing is going to be user experience and your store's overall look
[01:37] of aesthetics. How easy is it to navigate what people would be looking a purchase of? So a lot of people skip the step of mobile and making sure that their website [music] looks good on mobile. But a lot of people purchase on
[01:51] their mobile phones. So it's important that your website looks absolutely that your website looks absolutely beautiful on web but also on a phone of what it would look like on a mobile. So on Shopify, this is easy to do. Whenever
[02:03] you're editing your theme, product pages, or anything within your online store, there is always the option to check out what it looks like from a mobile device. Please make sure you're checking that. I have helped a lot of
[02:15] of the first things I always look at because it's so often overlooked is sometimes we put in these large images or text that look really good on the web then when you click on the mobile button, it looks completely different
[02:30] and that is another part of what you could be getting a purchase with. And also with our going along with the aesthetics of our store, we're wanting to make sure that yes, maybe we have lots of product photos on our page that
[02:43] showcase our brand, but not making sure that our logo is too big and taking away from the products that we're selling and that we have products on the front page. I always recommend that to people is showcase what you're selling somewhere
[02:56] on your front page so that people don't have to go super far to look for it, especially if they just click on an ad really quick or scrolling really quick. And if you're trying to gain more interest and really convert, make sure
[03:08] they're looking for. [music] This is especially important if you are doing an advertisement and advertising a specific product. Make sure that whatever link you used, that customer goes directly to that product and not just the homepage
[03:22] of your website. Now, let's talk about product pages and optimization because this also goes along with what your store looks like. So, a product page is when you click on a specific product on your Shopify store, what that looks
[03:35] like. So, often when you click it, you will see lots of photos. This is where you can add photos, take away photos, and add in your description and different things about your product. Now, Shopify does give a default product
[03:47] just make sure that you have enough information and that it looks not overdone. So, make sure that we're giving just enough photos to where we're showcasing what we're selling in a nice way, but not too many where it can cause
[04:01] decision fatigue or just have somebody to become overstimulated. Creating a custom product page is actually very helpful for your branding. And if you're this, because I know I was when I first got started, is go ahead and take a look
[04:14] at a competitor or a website that you shop on often and see how their product page layout is. Are they including FAQs on the product page? Are they including someone using the product? Are they including, you know, X, Y, and Z and
[04:27] take note of that and see how exactly you can implement that on your own product page to help you with conversions. And if you already have the success that you're really looking for, make sure with your images that
[04:40] they're high quality, they look real, especially if we're creating mock-ups. If you're using AI, make sure that what you're creating looks real. And ask yourself, would I buy from this? or even send it to a friend and ask for some
[04:52] feedback can be really helpful because sometimes when we're staring at a screen personally, it we kind of get lost in that translation and we miss things cuz thing that you should be adding to your Shopify store is customer reviews. And
[05:07] if you're thinking, "Okay, but I keep getting sales and nobody's leaving me a talk a little bit about how you can encourage customers to leave a review in just a moment. But if you're not familiar, Shopify has a lot of really
[05:21] helpful apps in their app store to help you with things just like reviews. You can create reviews or ask friends and families for reviews and then create the reviews for them in the actual Shopify apps. This can be really helpful for
[05:34] your conversions because when we're doing reviews on our online store, it Think about when you've gone to purchase something, you most likely will look at the reviews. So, it's important to keep that in mind because people want to see
[05:47] reviews. I do have some recommendations for apps that I have used for this exact description box below for you, so you can grab it and check it out for yourself. But overall, if you do check on Shopify's app store, along with the
[05:59] thousands of apps that they have to help us out, there are a lot of review ones store. Now, let's talk about one of the most important things in your Shopify store, which is your [music] checkout. How people are actually going to
[06:12] purchase from you. And this is actually overlooked way more than it should be and it's really easy to update on Shopify. So your checkout should be different payment options available, especially if you're selling in multiple
[06:25] countries. So Shopify has what's called Shopify Payments, which is their way for customers. And this is an incredible option and I do highly recommend it. I'm in the US and sell domestically. So, it's a really great option for you if
[06:40] card payments. But if you are going to be selling internationally like I do as well, you are going to want to offer more payment options so that you're not browsing your store from a different location. If we can have multiple
[06:55] payment options, this means we can sell to more people. Even if you're selling widely available, digital products which can download it. These are all really
[07:08] important things, but it's better to offer more payment options than just having one cuz a lot of times this will really plummet your sales. There's also something that you may have not heard of before because it was something that I
[07:20] selling internationally and that's called the double conversion trap. This happens when international customers payments are converted into the storebased currency and then supplier payments in another currency cause a
[07:33] second conversion. And this double conversion can add a lot of unnecessary something called airwex because it's really helpful for this scenario and to have you be more accessible through
[07:46] selling internationally. With Airwalks, you can hold and manage multiple currencies and keep funds in the currency that the customer pays in and then only convert the currency after when you want to. You'll also pay
[07:58] international suppliers directly in their local currency. Again, avoiding that issue that I'm talking about. And additionally, Airwalk supports 160 plus payment methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, CLA, Afterpay, and
[08:12] e-wallets. And as I said, having a familiar payment method to multiple use different payment methods can really help to increase your conversions at checkout. And while some Shopify plans do require you to use Shopify payments
[08:26] for card transactions, Airwalks can still be used for non-card transactions [music] through BNPL and e-wallets. And if you're interested in Airwalks, they have a direct Shopify integration that's very easy for you to set [music] up and
[08:40] a link in the description box below for you where you can check it out and see if Airwalks is for you. Highly recommend it, especially if you're somebody that's wants to get more sales and have more [music] payment methods available. Now,
[08:54] let's talk about offers and promotions because these are things that I highly recommend having on your online store because people love a deal. [music] They discount on something, free shipping, money off. This is just a known thing.
[09:07] I'm sure that you like to purchase when stores have sales codes or popups for you to use. [music] Now, with offering a discount, something that I find highly effective is increasing your order volume, which means having a customer
[09:20] purchase more than one item. And this was something that when I first started was a little bit nervous about it. I thought that it was going to turn people away, but to my surprise, it actually really helped my sales. And I did it
[09:32] through an app called Catching Bundles, which essentially is again a Shopify app that will offer your customer to bundle other things throughout your online button and have it all added to the cart. You can also do this many
[09:45] that is said there. If you are to add another product in your cart, you'll receive this amount off. And maybe even offering a free gift if you have that that can just help to entice that purchase and increase order volume is
[09:59] super helpful. I like to [music] do this through volume discounts as well, such as spend x amount and receive free shipping or spend x amount and get amount of money off. This was really effective for me on Etsy with the over
[10:12] $35 shipping guarantee because it was making my customers purchase more from my store. [music] I like to do it around the $45 to $50 limit of spend this amount and get free shipping. But a lot of stores do it for over $100 and then
[10:25] it helps to increase that order volume to get over an $100 sale. and then you're responsible for the shipping, but you're still making more on that order. promotions for our store, something that I highly recommend that you do is set up
[10:39] [music] So, a popup is essentially when you go to someone's online store and you click on it and a pop-up comes up that asks [music] for a discount. Now, this is a great way
[10:53] and my favorite way personally to give someone an offer because as we just most likely they are going to give you their email. And once you have their on what you're asking for in the popup, you can now retarget that customer even
[11:09] if they didn't make a purchase, which is so powerful. You can do this with someone that signed up and then just didn't end up purchasing. We can get talking about it a lot if you've seen a lot of my recent videos. That's just
[11:23] because of how effective it is and having an email marketing strategy lot of people assume that with email marketing strategies, but it doesn't have to be difficult, especially if you use userfriendly sites [music]
[11:35] to do your email marketing. So, I set everything up through Omnisend, which is my favorite email marketing platform. And it's very userfriendly, as I said, you're using something already for email marketing, you can convert over to it
[11:48] and try it out through their new migration process, which only takes a few minutes. And the reason I like Omnis is because within my popup, I can then set up what's called a welcome series. And a welcome series is the first email
[12:00] that discount that we promised them, followed by a reminder email if they have not purchased yet. And then a last chance offer offering them a discount or maybe an additional discount that they don't want to miss out on. And this
[12:13] sellers that can tell you that this works for them, including myself. I've made a lot more money doing this on my online store through Omnisend and highly about how exactly to set this up. I'm going to leave it in the description
[12:26] below for you. And I also created a downloadable eguide that is completely set up the pop-up sequence followed by a because they have a lot of really great
[12:38] things in with a few clicks, add in your branding, and it's a super professional someone's going to be receiving something that won't convert. They do And there's so so many. even if you want to start like a sales sequence to run a
[12:53] sale on your online store or to get back that person that didn't purchase or Omnisend linked in the description below for you and they've been so kind to give me a code for you. It's money with Mac 30 and will get you 30% off of any paid
[13:07] plan which is great if you're starting out, but if you're taking your email would recommend a standard plan so you're not limited on amounts of emails, traffic to your online store. And lastly, let's talk about our store
[13:21] policies and overall trust. Now, we did mention reviews, but with trust, I mean more so of being transparent with our customers regarding shipping times, any production times that may be available, and making sure that we underpromise
[13:38] deliver. first trying to promise these really fast shipping times or production times that we might not be able to fulfill with because overall we want the when we're doing this, we want to make sure that our policies are first very
[13:53] [music] find them. Two, that we're being honest about them. If you're somebody checking up to date with current production times and shipping times, going on around the world that can be causing any delays on this. So on and so
[14:09] forth. just to be in the loop so that your customers do trust you when they for that [music] reason. This also includes refunds and return policies. products that you don't want to have a return policy, such as print on demand
[14:24] products or maybe your drop shipping products, this is totally fine. Just be transparent. Can't stress that enough. Everywhere on your product page, on your policies, it should list if you do not have a refund, return, or exchange
[14:37] policy. That way we don't have unhappy customers. And one way that I do suggest if you are selling products like apparel or something that is sized like shoes, anything like that is to offer a size chart because when we offer that and
[14:51] really have a better idea and understanding of how the product will fit. So they won't even need to have an exchange. [music] You can also set up your policies through Shopify. You can go to policies and access shipping
[15:03] policies, refund policies, and privacy policies. These are all things that you do need to set up. And Shopify does give you templates, but just make sure that you fill in the names on there, anything relevant to your business to make sure
[15:16] can also use chat GPT to help you craft a specific one, maybe for your refund policy if it's not available. And same FAQ, this can really help build that customer's trust and just being
[15:29] transparent overall. And as promised for the very end of this video, I do want to to get some traffic to your online store. If you're somebody that wants to increase that, I highly recommend utilizing all the free resources we have
[15:42] right now through social media and Pinterest. And a lot of sellers aren't Instead of running to paid advertisement, try to take a little bit of time to start some sort of social media strategy. I don't recommend
[15:55] starting all of them at once, but maybe one that you tend to use more, like Facebook or Instagram, and start seeing how you can start creating a strategy to already have to just get more eyes on
[16:08] your product. This can not only make you more sales by having more surface area on the internet, but also give you more feedback and data for all the things I your store and then seeing what converts and what doesn't. So, I will leave a
[16:21] helpful tutorial for social media marketing and Pinterest marketing in the description for you below. I encourage you to optimize your store each section at a time that I just went over. I really hope that this video was helpful
[16:33] questions that you may have or let others know something that you've done to increase conversions. And of course, everything that I talked about today to you will be linked in the description box below. Thank you so so much for
[16:47] watching and I hope to see you in the next
