Chapters
Host Jared Deanda introduces the event as the Hot Wheels Legends 2021 grand finale at Jay Leno's garage, where ten finalists compete to become a die-cast car, with the process starting in 2018 for Hot Wheels' 50th anniversary.
A special edition Twin Mill die-cast, reimagined by Mobil 1, is announced for fans to win at mobilpromotions.com/mobil1twinmill, celebrating the partnership and fan participation.
Jared Deanda explains the three criteria for judging: authenticity (does it look like a Hot Wheels car?), creativity (is it new and original?), and garage spirit (does it have a compelling backstory?).
Ashley Robinson's exo-skeleton style Nissan 350Z, built on a budget and by hand, is presented. Jay Leno praises its creativity and the 'hands-on' builder approach.
Christian Ledesma's 1990 Volkswagen rat rod from Mexico is highlighted for its local parts and family-inclusive build (foot pedals representing his kids). Jay Leno calls it 'real hot rodding'.
Kevin Clark's 1968 Mercedes-Benz 250S gasser 'High Class' is detailed. The story of his best friend Colby dying suddenly and the car becoming a memorial project is shared, embodying garage spirit.
Chris Palmer's 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger Superbird hybrid 'Scraptona' is showcased. Its mismatched panels and 740 horsepower NASCAR motor are highlighted, with judges noting its great stance and visual interest.
Mark Strawbridge's 1973 Mazda 616 Capella from New Zealand is presented as a tribute to rotary race cars. It features period-correct modifications and Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) culture influences.
Abdul Wahab's Daihatsu Mira from Malaysia is described as a 'mash culture' of Japanese, American hot rod, and rat fink elements. Mad Mike notes its resemblance to cars from 'Pimp My Ride'.
Paul Kalanian's all-aluminum, two-seat sport car 'Lulu' is presented as a professional-grade build inspired by Mickey Thompson. Jay Leno and Henrik Fisker praise its precise engineering and detail.
Lee Johnson's 1969 Volvo P1800 gasser 'Ain't No Saint' from the UK is featured. Its clean execution and family involvement (built with daughters) are praised. It ultimately wins the competition.
TJ Russell's 1990 Porsche 911 Baja is the Mobil 1 fan favorite. While praised for its build quality and practicality, some judges note it looks more like a factory build than a unique Hot Wheels concept.
Mike Wenkstern's tiny, rusty, 14-horsepower microcar from Germany provides comic relief. It is described as 'so ungerman' and a 'tongue-in-cheek' creation, with judges noting its challenge to scale properly.
The 2021 Hot Wheels Legends Tour grand finale winner is announced as the Volvo P1800 gasser from the UK, owned by Lee Johnson. The judges cite its embodiment of creativity, authenticity, and garage spirit.
The 2021 Hot Wheels Legends Tour finale celebrates global car culture, creativity, and garage-built passion, with the Volvo P1800 Gasser taking the top prize to be immortalized as a die-cast car. The event highlights the diversity and ingenuity of custom car builders worldwide.

[09:40] it still looks cool with this new livery
[09:42] on it and everything it's very nice yeah
[09:44] and what's really cool here is this is
[09:46] the one of one of the twin mill because

[09:56] down to 164. well see i live in a hilly
[09:59] area so i need that extra engine to kind
[10:01] of get over

[10:24] started with hot wheels you know they
[10:25] that got their their their juices
[10:27] flowing and you know it's cool to see it

[10:41] young people are doing and what ideas
[10:43] are coming up with and
[10:44] it's really interesting because they
[10:46] they they don't have anything to draw on
[10:48] it it's it's all out of their
[10:50] imagination all of us we like retro
[10:52] because we remember we like futuristic
[10:54] but when you're a young kid you just
[10:56] draw what you know right yeah yeah
[10:58] that's awesome cool well again i know

[17:53] fisker ocean i like it all right feeds
[17:55] into the whole ocean obviously you know
[17:57] our plane is made up much more ocean
[17:59] than it is land so that's awesome thank
[18:00] you for joining us mr fiscal
[18:02] i'm joking all right so uh joining us
[18:05] next is a korean american automotive
[18:06] content creator from honolulu hawaii
[18:08] that's right known for driving a mazda
[18:10] rx-7fd drift car currently hosts a
[18:12] youtube series called power over it
[18:15] sarah choi thanks for joining us thanks
[18:17] for having me honored to be here with
[18:18] respected people in the community and
[18:21] happy to be here that's great yeah and
[18:23] again content creation how important of
[18:25] a role does that play in our whole
[18:27] automotive kind of world and our whole
[18:29] you know family like i mean i think for
[18:31] me i started off with the whole tuner
[18:33] scene so i think my audience just
[18:35] reaches on the tuner scene so basically
[18:37] i think this is great to kind of show my
[18:39] cuz i posted it right now i was like
[18:41] everyone watch this there's cars i don't
[18:42] even recognize here
[18:44] yeah so they'll see a whole different
[18:45] world and it's just everyone's connected
[18:47] in the world it's all one so that's cool
[18:49] and so coming into leno's garage here
[18:50] you were like what what is that are you
[18:52] asking me questions you know what i'm
[18:53] looking at he was teaching me all day
[18:57] well she's a she's a honda girl right i
[18:59] started off i showed him my honda 600
[19:01] which was honda's first car yeah uh 600
[19:05] cc's i mean the valves look like golf
[19:07] tees little tiny but a hot 9 500 rpm red
[19:10] line in 1964 and i i wanted a driver to
[19:13] get her opinion because she she drives
[19:15] all the modern stuff it'd be fun to hear
[19:17] her uh
[19:18] her viewpoint on the vintage stuff as
[19:20] well well she said she's been talking to
[19:22] you all day i think it's going to take a
[19:23] whole week for you educate her on this
[19:25] and would you would you agree that being
[19:27] a car guy or a car gal car person in
[19:29] general um it's hard to know everything
[19:32] about every single car you're learning
[19:33] something new every day oh yeah of
[19:35] course i mean that's the fun thing about
[19:36] the hobby is it's only about 125 years
[19:39] old so you know if we were studying
[19:41] egyptology
[19:43] we all be covered with sand and dusty
[19:44] and dirty you know but the the whole
[19:46] history of our hobby really only goes
[19:48] back about 125 maybe 150 years at most
[19:51] so there's and there's so much
[19:53] technology the fun part is stuff they
[19:56] had at the beginning
[19:58] it's like there's nothing new they just
[20:00] didn't have the metallurgy or the
[20:01] technology they knew about four vowels
[20:03] and hemi heads but it was hard to
[20:05] implement you know yeah and young people
[20:07] are always amazed when they go back to
[20:08] 1913 pujo twin cam four valve hemi head
[20:13] in 1913. you know that kind of stuff so
[20:15] it's fun to be able to share that
[20:17] knowledge too the progression
[20:18] technology exactly just the advancements
[20:20] and you know here's here yeah you know
[20:22] mr fisker talking about development of
[20:23] his vehicle the ocean price point driven
[20:26] all those things come into effect it's
[20:28] awesome thank you jay again jay leno was
[20:29] one of our judges by the way all right
[20:32] again thanks for letting us we're going
[20:33] to throw a party after this yeah all
[20:34] right just go ahead and crack the party
[20:36] all right moving on next vice president
[20:37] i want to make sure i get this title
[20:38] right otherwise i don't get paid so uh
[20:41] vice president and global head of design
[20:42] for vehicles at mattel a position he has
[20:44] held since 2015 he joined mattel in 2003
[20:48] as a graduate of brown university and
[20:49] the rhode island school of design mr
[20:52] tedwu how are we doing bud awesome
[20:53] awesome jared thanks for being here uh
[20:55] huge huge honor to be again hosted by
[20:57] jay thank you so much for having us uh
[20:59] this year's been great i mean i think
[21:01] bigger and better with the legends tour
[21:02] i think we have a great show some some
[21:04] amazing cars here today and it's really
[21:06] what i really like is the international
[21:07] vehicles are inspired by american i
[21:09] don't want to give too much away but
[21:10] like you know this this vehicle in this
[21:12] country is representing it you kind of
[21:14] get just this mash culture it's great i
[21:16] mean the car culture community is really
[21:18] really represented today i mean from a
[21:20] global standpoint we have cars from all
[21:21] over the world uh again great show let's
[21:24] get into it all right yep that's right
[21:25] well we can't get into it yet
[21:29] angry i don't know why he is but he's
[21:31] mad he is mad mike mad mike you might
[21:34] recognize him from the uh different tv
[21:36] shows including pimp my ride and driven
[21:38] what are you so mad about matt mike it's
[21:40] not like mad angry it's like a mad mad
[21:43] scientist okay um i just create all kind
[21:46] of crazy stuff and i put stuff in cars
[21:47] that don't belong in cars it's awesome
[21:49] awesome job to have i've never worked a
[21:51] day in my life i like that that's good
[21:53] and mad mike madmike driven mad my
[21:55] connector that's what you're all about
[21:56] connectivity technology exactly so i'm
[21:58] wondering how many tvs can we put in
[21:59] your tvs and your 164. that's my
[22:01] favorite yo dawg i heard you like tvs
[22:03] that's why i put tvs in your tv man i'm
[22:04] gonna put three tvs underneath your tv
[22:08] oh
[22:09] underneath the box
[22:10] yeah so you watch tv while you're
[22:12] watching tv i literally probably quote
[22:13] you a few times a day like just now i'm
[22:15] just just just kidding but uh thank you
[22:17] for joining us mr mad mike i love it all
[22:19] right all right so uh before we get into
[22:21] our final list here's a quick look at
[22:24] our previous legends tour winners as
[22:25] well as this year's tour semifinals that
[22:28] won the respective rounds but
[22:29] unfortunately did not advance to the
[22:31] finals remember it kicked all off in
[22:32] 2018 celebrating 50 years of hot wheels
[22:36] and the winner overall is luis rodriguez
[22:38] that man a smile says it all the two jet
[22:40] zee will give you one guess what engine
[22:42] resides in this open wheel hot rod yeah
[22:44] 2jz get it two jet z looks like a jet
[22:47] has the 2jz engine then moved on to 2019
[22:50] the 57 nash metropolitan greg salzillo
[22:53] and his son
[22:54] smile and happy as can be and then
[22:56] eventually that vehicle got immortalized
[22:58] and there it is the 164th hot wheels die
[23:00] cast then at 2020 we were here just a
[23:03] year ago snoop dogg was jumping for joy
[23:05] fluffy was pumped but riley stare was
[23:07] the most pumped with that 1970 pontiac
[23:10] trans am like i say sponsor me white
[23:11] well it got sponsored by hot wheels
[23:13] pretty much it got endorsed because uh
[23:15] it looks awesome so congratulations now
[23:17] this year's round winners in australia
[23:18] these vehicles did not make it in but
[23:20] they all are definitely touted beautiful
[23:23] looking vehicles the australian round
[23:24] winner the 74 ford escort could do some
[23:26] burnouts and it looks great the 2021
[23:29] miami round 4 winner the 1929 ford model
[23:32] a i really think this thing won because
[23:33] the juxtaposition of what you would
[23:35] normally see in miami great looking
[23:37] vehicle and as we move on
[23:39] to brazil this vehicle is deemed ybl
[23:42] yellow black lethal just an amalgamation
[23:45] of you can see drag car street car this
[23:46] thing is street legal and it's got a
[23:48] parachute up back unfortunately does not
[23:50] advance on but love the vehicle overall
[23:52] and you can talk about juxtaposition we
[23:53] go to detroit motor city the winner in
[23:55] detroit is a 75 opel manta some people
[23:58] have never even seen this vehicle and i
[24:00] think that's again that's why people
[24:01] scratch their heads but overall really
[24:03] cool vehicle it's begging to be driven
[24:05] now uh just most previously a semifinals
[24:08] from chile this vehicle 1947 ford coupe
[24:11] jay ward from pixar a great amount of
[24:12] education information on the history of
[24:15] this particular vehicle now as we go to
[24:17] the lone star state 2021 houston texas
[24:19] round seven winner this is the so
[24:22] sick c6 a great looking car again that
[24:25] sponsor be white big broad arches
[24:27] unfortunately does not move on but again
[24:29] a notable mention this is a vehicle i
[24:31] was talking about a vehicle in japan
[24:33] that's a japanese vehicle but definitely
[24:35] is just absolutely screaming red white
[24:37] and blue so again inspired by a little
[24:38] bit of stock car a little bit of drag
[24:40] car but all unique from japan that
[24:42] cedric 130 and finally in el segundo the
[24:45] glass house 1974 chevy great looking car
[24:49] and really really accumulates all things
[24:51] southern california so really really
[24:54] cool and uh now here are your
[24:56] semifinalists are you guys ready to see
[24:57] your semi-finals
[24:59] right i said are you ready to see them
[25:01] yeah yeah yeah all right i know some
[25:02] people are grabbing their coffee and
[25:03] some people are you know grabbing
[25:05] different beverages but i appreciate you
[25:06] joining us here so uh you know let's
[25:08] walk through again this is just like
[25:09] kind of a quick little teaser of what
[25:11] you're gonna be seeing here today 10
[25:13] vehicles but only one can win you know
[25:15] this is where i talk you know to to our
[25:18] different judges and talking about their
[25:19] kind of forte what vehicles they're into
[25:21] nissan 350z really unique vehicle this
[25:24] car really caught our attention i like
[25:26] it at night but the vehicles here in the
[25:27] building so i really kind of want to
[25:28] scrutinize it more representing mexico
[25:30] this 1990 volkswagen rat rod now yeah 90
[25:35] this iconic beetle the lines obviously
[25:37] been modified really cool car then uh
[25:40] just kind of a mash culture the high
[25:42] class the mercedes-benz gasser don't
[25:44] know what's in the barrel up front but
[25:46] it says high class it's got a great
[25:47] story this car really exudes garage
[25:49] spirit we'll get to the criteria in just
[25:51] a little bit now this vehicle you might
[25:52] need a tetanus shot to drive this thing
[25:54] but it is driven around georgia i know
[25:56] my boy killer mike and rutledge they see
[25:58] this thing rip around georgia and it's
[26:00] really cool
[26:01] you can see mismatching panels but
[26:03] overall that is an absolute hot rod now
[26:05] our new zealand winner this is the third
[26:07] iteration from what i understand of the
[26:09] livery and i think they absolutely
[26:11] nailed it this capella mazda616 what's
[26:14] really cool about this thing is it
[26:15] actually rips up that lead foot festival
[26:18] mountain the malaysia round winner this
[26:20] is a dahatsu mira you might be even
[26:22] wondering what this vehicle is but i
[26:24] think i could stand up in that cabin as
[26:26] more of a six head as opposed to a
[26:27] forehead on that vehicle but love those
[26:28] daihatsu's then our dub round winner was
[26:31] the 2020 lulu this gentleman's retired
[26:33] took him multiple years to make and
[26:35] fabricate this vehicle the vehicle is
[26:37] here and i get to see it and we get to
[26:39] see it for the first time then our uk
[26:41] round winner the volvo p 1800 gas there
[26:44] ain't no saint could send homage to the
[26:46] saint tv show so
[26:47] really cool again the gassers they're
[26:50] they're really getting popular as they
[26:51] have been for multiple years the mobile
[26:53] one fan vote winner i love this car i
[26:55] remember one is in battle the builders
[26:56] at the sema show a few years ago the
[26:58] 1990 porsche 911 baja this vehicle is
[27:01] begging to be absolutely hammered on and
[27:03] i have seen videos of it doing just that
[27:06] and finally our germany round winner our
[27:08] 2018 wengstern uh 14 horsepower
[27:12] i don't know if i could fit in this
[27:13] thing i don't know if we could even move
[27:14] them in that thing but overall some
[27:16] really cool cars would you guys agree
[27:18] yeah all right all right here's our
[27:20] judging criteria there's three overall
[27:22] i'm going to break them down a little
[27:24] bit further for you and this is what all
[27:25] the vehicles have been scrutinized over
[27:27] our past you know since 2018 1920 and
[27:29] now 2021. authenticity
[27:32] creativity and garage spirit what is
[27:34] authenticity well basically you see a
[27:36] vehicle and say that looks like a hot
[27:38] wheels let's shrink that thing down it
[27:39] might be you know hey jay i like that
[27:40] car over there it might be a little
[27:42] expensive for me to to purchase it but
[27:44] at 164th you know that'd be cool a lot
[27:46] cheaper if you crash it you don't have
[27:47] to pay insurance yeah all right so
[27:49] authenticity doesn't look like a hot
[27:50] wheel creativity you have to think hot
[27:52] wheels has created over 25 000 different
[27:55] designs and over i mean how many
[27:57] billions of vehicles 8 billion but who's
[27:59] keeping cal 8 billion vehicles have been
[28:01] made largest automotive manufacturer in
[28:03] the world right so again creativity is
[28:05] looking for something new something we
[28:07] haven't seen or made before you know
[28:09] different engine and a power plant you
[28:10] know a station wagon with this blower
[28:12] and that and all the other things so
[28:13] that's creativity finally garage spirit
[28:16] that's where basically you know
[28:17] unfortunately somebody passed away they
[28:19] carry that torch or just a really cool
[28:21] story about father and son and kids or
[28:23] you know their children working the
[28:24] daughter
[28:25] that's really just that x factor just
[28:27] taking it over the top and saying this
[28:29] car has authenticity creativity and
[28:31] finally garage spirit
[28:34] all right so uh i think it's about that
[28:36] time are we ready to see our first
[28:38] vehicle yeah yeah all right here we go
[28:40] our first vehicle is a 2003 nissan 350z
[28:44] and this is our speed society round
[28:45] winner but before we see the car let's
[28:47] gonna roll in here in just a moment
[28:48] let's hear from the owner ashley
[28:50] robinson
[28:52] hi
[28:53] my name is ashley robinson and the name
[28:55] of my car is merrily
[28:58] merrily is a combination of my name and
[29:00] my girlfriend's name
[29:02] because without her help i would have
[29:04] never gotten this far
[29:10] i found this car wrecked no one wanted
[29:13] it and i had a vision for what this car
[29:16] could become
[29:17] so to be here
[29:18] at this place at this point it's been an
[29:21] amazing process
[29:23] something that
[29:25] i wouldn't i wouldn't trade for anything
[29:31] just thinking about being sharing my car
[29:34] with the entire world there's so many
[29:37] pieces that were handmade by myself that
[29:40] expressed something specific to exactly
[29:43] what i was feeling and looking for in
[29:45] that moment
[29:46] and to be able to share that and people
[29:49] see it and connect with it they already
[29:51] are but on a global scale
[29:54] it would be a drink literally a dream
[29:56] come true
[29:58] you could tell this gentleman's hands on
[29:59] he's in his garage you see the welder
[30:01] back there jay i'm going to you first
[30:03] and foremost what do you think of this z
[30:05] well that's what i love about it we face
[30:06] you the builder not the owner you know
[30:08] you've got a lot of these big concourse
[30:10] and and you wrote to check so yes i
[30:12] bought it in 2015 i sent it to a shop
[30:14] and five years later it's finished but
[30:17] they didn't build it this is the actual
[30:19] hands-on guy and the fact that it's
[30:21] built on a budget like the paint is not
[30:24] perfect that's fine yeah but but the
[30:26] welding is the detail work uh it's
[30:29] really fascinating to me uh it
[30:32] the exoskeleton idea is is really
[30:35] interesting the hand form on those
[30:37] fenders yeah it's it's it's it's
[30:39] different it's unique and you know
[30:42] sometimes not having a lot of money is a
[30:44] great thing because no no because
[30:46] because
[30:47] it's great for creativity
[30:49] no but a great you know it's creativity
[30:51] you're forced to work with what you have
[30:54] and you know i don't think this car
[30:56] would be any better if you gave the guy
[30:57] 10 million to build it because
[30:59] this is his vision of what it is and
[31:01] didn't involve a lot of money it just
[31:03] involved a lot of work and a lot and a
[31:04] lot of imagination what i like is it's
[31:06] zombie with a capital z right because
[31:08] this car
[31:09] rose from the ashes like the phoenix
[31:11] right i'm seeing i want to point out
[31:12] technology to you uh-huh
[31:14] how many tvs it got dawg you see his
[31:16] ipad in the dash i mean the technology
[31:19] in this car is incredible yeah because
[31:21] there's ipad in the dash but
[31:23] it's also got airbags on it and so it's
[31:26] exposed that's what's really cool
[31:27] exactly and you can see what it's doing
[31:29] all right so uh working in the house
[31:30] that hot wheels built or mattel overall
[31:32] but uh what do you what do you think of
[31:34] this vehicle i i i have a special place
[31:36] in my heart i actually owned a 2003
[31:38] black 350z was
[31:41] this i might need to check it
[31:47] there you go this is your car buddy this
[31:48] might be my car
[31:49] yeah
[31:50] half of my body is actually made from
[31:52] steel
[31:53] we were actually uh partners so applying
[31:55] this to 164. yeah i mean this thing is
[31:57] super striking you look at it you're
[31:58] like what is that i think you know we
[32:00] think about what does a vehicle look
[32:01] like not only in one to one but
[32:03] obviously in 164th and this is stunning
[32:05] so to me
[32:06] this is kind of quintessential hot
[32:08] wheels car sarah over to you again just
[32:10] being the import gal kind of the tuner
[32:12] scene i've seen
[32:13] it's been a hype to do a crazy cage set
[32:16] up either in the front or like wrapped
[32:18] around or even this exoskeleton thing is
[32:20] like pretty cool so it will hit this
[32:22] generation's audience
[32:24] um
[32:25] it's pretty gangster i just wish it was
[32:28] a hard gangster coming from a tuner
[32:30] yeah i wish it was static but um
[32:33] i think it's pretty cool
[32:35] as opposed to having bags just it having
[32:37] coils yeah something more race you make
[32:39] it completely gangster okay
[32:41] i mean i don't know if you guys saw that
[32:42] it wasn't unless he has a high driveway
[32:44] or something i would totally so you know
[32:46] you're forgiven but i think they're from
[32:47] the bay area so going up you know what
[32:49] is that what's the the windy street
[32:52] lombard that was yeah lumbar you know so
[32:54] maybe air is needed in the bay area but
[32:56] what i'm seeing here is they're
[32:57] mimicking the lines if you took this big
[32:58] you know gt wing off mimicking that
[33:00] natural 350z and then talk about wing i
[33:03] mean huge wing fan okay i love big wings
[33:06] lemon pepper or what's your wings
[33:10] you're talking about gangster i don't
[33:11] know if you saw this this is like a
[33:13] silence of the lambs up here so
[33:15] uh the headlights what i mean what do
[33:17] you guys think fisker mr fisker you're
[33:19] analyzing this you know what i love
[33:20] about this car is and you know i'm a
[33:22] visual guy and what i love is that most
[33:25] people don't know how complicated
[33:27] vehicles is that just came from the
[33:28] factory seeing this here kind of
[33:31] combined with these beautiful surfaces
[33:33] which is just attached to this
[33:35] complicated structure which engineers
[33:37] have to engineer to make it structural
[33:39] rigid safe and everything else i think
[33:41] this is awesome and i also love the way
[33:43] he put the tail lamp right in the right
[33:45] place and i i love of course the white
[33:46] track awesome you know sits low but i
[33:49] think that's such a great idea to
[33:51] actually put forward the structure in
[33:53] that way it's kind of cool
[33:55] yeah and it's got the uh the extra so
[33:57] here's a little j homage right here you
[33:58] know the external oil cooler that's
[34:00] always cool that's kind of like a one
[34:01] gun style right and the other other cool
[34:04] thing about this is it would make a
[34:06] great toy just having the great color
[34:08] break like that so when you see it on
[34:10] shelf it's not just a red car blue car
[34:12] but it's half black half silver or any
[34:14] two colors that you make it you've got
[34:15] solid you've got exposed
[34:18] you're going to gravitate towards that
[34:19] if you're looking
[34:20] amongst a whole rack of hot wheels cars
[34:22] yeah it's a bold visual statement yeah
[34:23] really cool so again i think there's
[34:25] deco opportunity because again give you
[34:27] a little canvas here so uh there it is
[34:29] the nissan 350z congratulations for just
[34:31] being part of the top ten as we move on
[34:33] to our next car representing mexico the
[34:35] 1990 volkswagen that is owned by
[34:38] christian sariano ledesma vehicle's not
[34:41] here so let's take a look digitally at
[34:43] this vehicle
[34:45] hello my name is
[35:47] you love it obviously the volkswagen bug
[35:49] the peter whatever you want to call it
[35:50] that is all rat rod 1990 because they
[35:53] were reproduced down in mexico what do
[35:55] you what do you think i mean they were
[35:56] making beetles in mexico
[35:58] like
[35:59] until yeah recently yeah exactly last
[36:02] week
[36:03] [Laughter]
[36:05] one's rolling through right now but but
[36:07] what do you what do you make of this
[36:08] round i think it's interesting that he
[36:09] calls it a rat rod because i i think
[36:10] it's actually a really nicely done car i
[36:12] mean the fabrication looks great the
[36:14] matte paint looks really cool um
[36:16] i like that it has sort of a drag race
[36:19] element but it also is talking to
[36:22] like beetle culture with those foot
[36:24] pedals you know the little like foot
[36:25] shaped petals they're like so hippy and
[36:27] funny and the chrome engine in the back
[36:29] and it has an amazing stance like it
[36:31] already looks like a toy because it has
[36:32] the baja bug but it's not obnoxious you
[36:34] know when you get those sometimes those
[36:36] baja bugs they have the negative camber
[36:38] and they're like you know they're
[36:39] squatting and this thing has more
[36:41] because again the hoosiers out back the
[36:42] white walls up front nice stance this i
[36:44] mean your work's already done they're
[36:46] really nice stands and i love the the
[36:47] the right proportions of the lower
[36:50] roof looks really cool yeah i think it's
[36:52] got really good proportions i mean
[36:53] volkswagen beetles and bugs have been in
[36:55] 164th absolutely yeah i mean um anything
[36:58] volkswagen is always huge for us you
[37:00] know um so uh we got a lot of a lot of
[37:03] volkswagen fans uh you know amongst our
[37:05] collectors and so this would obviously
[37:06] be a big hit um i love it myself it's
[37:09] it's really cool the stance like i said
[37:11] and just that squat roof um i love the
[37:14] details too like and just like how he
[37:16] added um you know
[37:18] the the three pedals represent his kids
[37:20] the three kids i think that's really
[37:22] cool yeah check the words on my mouth
[37:23] yeah so three pedals yeah if you re if
[37:25] you read the copy there he says yeah
[37:26] three pedals each foot representing my
[37:28] kids harley-davidson wing mirrors
[37:30] harley-davidson headlights well you know
[37:32] what i love about it it's a mexican car
[37:35] built by a mexican kid using mexican
[37:37] parts it's like it's like what hot
[37:39] rodding used to be right you you grew up
[37:41] in a town you find the nearest junkyard
[37:43] you take parts from that you know i
[37:45] imagine this whole car was probably
[37:47] built with parts in and around where he
[37:49] lives and that's the real spirit of it
[37:52] to me there's nothing expensive looking
[37:54] on this car it all looks like you know a
[37:56] 90 volkswagen it probably was a wrecked
[37:58] car you bought it cheap you took the
[38:00] body yeah i think it's just brilliant i
[38:02] think it's just brand it's classic
[38:04] hot rodding in the sense of you're
[38:06] recycling and you're using old parts you
[38:09] know
[38:10] yeah really neat you took the words in
[38:11] our mouth and i was gonna go back to
[38:13] what's that yeah you like the suicide
[38:14] doors yeah
[38:16] and like you said it adds it adds to the
[38:18] lines exactly he widened that back so
[38:20] jay actually hit on something hot rod
[38:23] now it's a generalized term it used to
[38:24] be kind of synonymous with american
[38:26] muscle all these things hot rodding's
[38:28] now it's really kind of universal would
[38:30] you agree i mean you were an editor and
[38:32] an editor for my favorite thing about um
[38:35] contemporary hot rodding versus kind of
[38:37] this like stricter years of hot rodding
[38:39] i mean i think when i first got into
[38:41] cars there were all these rules like
[38:43] what kind of car can you like and you
[38:44] cannot like any other kind of car and
[38:46] you cannot take anything from any other
[38:47] kind of car but like true hot rodding
[38:49] the very beginning of hot rodding was
[38:51] like jay said it was what is around you
[38:54] make it faster make it cooler make it
[38:56] like prettier or uglier just make it
[38:59] more yeah speaking of uh pretty uh what
[39:01] do you what do you make of this
[39:03] wow i mean look at that hairline dude
[39:06] for speed he showed up and ran through i
[39:08] mimicked my hair today based on that
[39:09] beetle there you go no i i love it i
[39:12] think it's cool i mean everybody touched
[39:13] on on points already so it's it's hard
[39:16] to do that but i mean also a fan of
[39:18] vintage vws i like the throwback to the
[39:20] oval window in the back and of course
[39:21] the suicide doors and stuff like that so
[39:23] seeing those details are really cool
[39:26] uh mike not a lot of technology on here
[39:28] but i think that's pay respect where
[39:30] respect is due yeah especially with that
[39:32] volkswagen look and just the the the
[39:34] chop top and i like i say i love those
[39:36] suicide doors in that is that
[39:38] turbocharger on the back yep i believe
[39:40] so oh
[39:41] yeah that's just so sexy so it's got
[39:43] yeah it's got the power it's got all the
[39:44] cool funky quirks does this transition
[39:46] to 164. the foot pedals unfortunately i
[39:49] don't think we can shrink those things
[39:50] down oh man
[39:52] i think for sure you look at the
[39:53] silhouette of this car and yeah with the
[39:55] passion that it evokes the emotion it
[39:57] for sure feels like high will's car i do
[39:58] want to give a shout out to our fans in
[40:00] mexico i mean really really great
[40:02] engagement a lot of a lot of great stuff
[40:04] coming out there and and this is just
[40:06] kind of the tip of the iceberg yeah uh
[40:08] sarah i got gotta go to you again we
[40:09] kind of went around the horn here every
[40:10] time dan are you volkswagen gal yeah i
[40:12] mean i'm a 90s baby i grew up with like
[40:15] you know punch buggy you look out for a
[40:17] buggy and like excuse to punch someone
[40:19] right and so i see this all the time
[40:21] looking for it but i love the color it's
[40:24] vintage um i think with the whole mexico
[40:26] history it really hits the criteria of
[40:28] the ghost i mean the garage spirit yeah
[40:31] yeah the whole thing stuff yeah the kids
[40:33] working on it with them together he's so
[40:34] proud i really like this and like you
[40:36] said it would be an absolute dream to be
[40:38] immortalized as a die cast right are
[40:40] there are there any fiskar hot wheels
[40:42] that casts i don't think they're that
[40:43] old i mean i know a guy
[40:46] right here so there's the volkswagen rat
[40:48] rod a great introduction uh for mexico
[40:51] joining the party and uh and like like
[40:53] jay said all mexican parts built my
[40:56] mexicans really cool so uh thank you for
[40:58] their submission so uh all right at this
[41:01] time judges go ahead and grab a seat
[41:03] grab a drink of water i'm gonna excuse
[41:04] you here briefly because we're going to
[41:06] be talking about nfts what are nfts
[41:08] we're about to find out i'm super pumped
[41:11] to talk about the hot wheels nft garage
[41:13] it's hot wheels like you've never seen
[41:14] it before the launch of hot wheels nft
[41:17] garage is the way to take home valuable
[41:19] and rare digital die casts from hot
[41:22] wheels these nfts are pure hot wheels
[41:24] developed by the same team behind iconic
[41:27] hot wheels diecast that's right so you
[41:29] might have heard about them we're going
[41:30] to educate you on how to educate you on
[41:33] what they actually are in fact i'm
[41:35] really excited to have one of our
[41:36] digital designers zac howie brewerton
[41:38] here with us high five bro
[41:40] who is working on our digital cars for
[41:42] hot wheels nft garage but first man for
[41:45] those that don't know you can give me
[41:46] the details what's an nft and i will
[41:49] tell you everything he says you're going
[41:50] to believe because he's got a beautiful
[41:51] accent zach thank you a pleasure to be
[41:54] here so um yeah nfts or non-fungible
[41:57] tokens put simply they're a way of
[41:59] authenticating digital art or
[42:01] collectibles on the internet right so if
[42:03] you think about when you buy a car one
[42:04] of the things you're going to want to do
[42:05] eventually is to check the vin number to
[42:08] make sure that it is what it says it is
[42:10] right nft that's that doesn't matter
[42:12] exactly
[42:13] nft same thing right is make sure it's
[42:15] authentic it's exclusive and most
[42:17] importantly it proves that you own it
[42:20] all right so what is happening with the
[42:22] hot wheels nft garage because seeing the
[42:24] buzz on ig you're seeing it kind of
[42:26] around but how is hot wheels and nft and
[42:30] that whole world colliding yes so super
[42:32] super super pumped to announce that the
[42:34] series one of the nft garage the hot
[42:36] wheels nft garage is launching on
[42:38] november 16th
[42:40] this is 40 brand new cars right from our
[42:42] legendary hot wheels designers it's
[42:44] going to be across multiple mini
[42:45] collections we've got checker flag hot
[42:47] wheels race team of course the garage of
[42:49] legends
[42:50] right yeah um each of these is going to
[42:53] come in one of four rarities right so
[42:54] there's going to be
[42:55] between base rare premium and
[42:58] non-fungible treasure hunt treasure
[42:59] hunts wouldn't be a hot wheels
[43:01] collection without treasure hunt and
[43:02] that's what i mean every time i go to
[43:03] the grocery store i'm my kids aren't
[43:05] even with me i'm still checking pegs so
[43:06] now you're checking digital pegs which
[43:08] is really cool so you know we talk about
[43:11] nfts you can see how rare they are i
[43:13] think that's you know if they're
[43:15] watching this at home they like the
[43:16] rarity they want to create that fomo
[43:18] have the limited dish right that's what
[43:19] we're all kind of looking for but what
[43:21] about real hot wheels yeah so collectors
[43:24] lucky enough to get their hands on
[43:26] either a premium or treasure hunt rarity
[43:28] nft will be able to redeem it for a
[43:31] physical car now we're giving these the
[43:32] full premium treatments they're going to
[43:34] have premium deco
[43:36] custom packaging and of course real
[43:38] relic rider tyres so these you know in
[43:41] in addition to the mint runs being so
[43:42] low these are going to be some of the
[43:43] most exclusive hot wheels we've ever
[43:45] made that's really cool and and i'm
[43:46] seeing a qr code what what can we do
[43:49] yeah so again exclusively for you
[43:51] viewing at home today you will be able
[43:53] to either pull out your phone and scan
[43:55] this qr code or head over to hot wheels

[45:30] the iconic lines of this vehicle that
[45:32] started life as a 164 die cast the
[45:34] garage of legends and then they pumped
[45:36] it up and you could see this thing
[45:38] ripping in as jay wrote it in with this
[45:41] brand new livery and now you can own it

[45:57] testimonial mobile one is utilized here
[45:59] in mr jay leno's garage really cool
[46:02] iconic vehicle the twin mill and uh for
[46:06] rightful reasons so very cool vehicle
[46:08] really cool diecast so as uh speaking of
[46:11] jay rolling in
[46:13] thanks for joining us sir thank you
[46:14] what's what's for lunch don't leave me
[46:15] hanging oh just they're looking at your
[46:17] special lunch yeah okay don't leave me
[46:19] hanging
[46:20] what do you say special lunch you got
[46:22] the kale sandwich oh dude
[46:24] kale wasn't popular until like five
[46:25] years ago what happened prior five years
[46:27] ago what was kale called
[46:29] i can't say it's a family show got it
[46:31] all right keep it moving on
[46:32] all right so moving on to our next
[46:34] vehicle this 1968 mercedes-benz 250s
[46:38] this is the throttle round winner this
[46:40] car is on screen but let's hear from the
[46:42] owner has a very endearing story i think
[46:44] this really embodies garage spirit so
[46:46] let's hear from kevin clark
[46:49] hello everyone my name is kevin and i'm
[46:51] the owner operator and builder of high
[46:53] class it is heavily inspired by gassers
[46:55] but it melds a few other styles together
[46:58] i found the perfect candidate a 1968
[47:00] mercedes 250s that was abandoned in a
[47:03] field and after picking it up i put my
[47:05] best friend colby to work and we laid
[47:07] down the basic livery unfortunately not
[47:09] even a week later i received devastating
[47:11] news a drive around a stop sign and
[47:13] colby hit the a-pillar he didn't survive
[47:17] what was once a long-term build
[47:18] immediately turned into a short-term
[47:20] memorial project
[47:22] it was a three-month learning experience
[47:24] using parts from my 73 camaro
[47:27] materials i had lying around and a
[47:29] majority of the work was done outside in
[47:31] the elements despite what the founders
[47:33] say i don't have my own shop
[47:35] the chassis is from the 94 chevy s10 the
[47:38] rear differential is from a junkyard
[47:40] ford explorer and the engine was built
[47:42] by a good friend of mine scott
[47:44] waterfield
[47:45] i can't put into words how much it would
[47:47] mean to have the last project my best
[47:49] friend worked on immortalized as the hot
[47:52] wheels could mean absolutely everything
[47:54] to me
[47:55] thank you so much kevin a great story
[47:56] there high class i'm going to go to a
[47:58] gentleman who has you knew i was coming
[47:59] to you right oh yeah i mean right out of
[48:00] the gate you have a gas to yourself does
[48:02] that really embody the gas or spirit is
[48:04] it kind of his own idea what are your
[48:06] thoughts on high class i would say yes
[48:08] and yes to that um
[48:10] the mercedes is probably the last car
[48:11] you'd ever think of as a gasser and yet
[48:14] he made a killer looking
[48:16] wicked cool gasser out of it you know
[48:18] the story i mean it's it's almost you
[48:20] know brings a tear to my eye really and
[48:22] then just the the passion and just the
[48:24] execution of it is just so cool like
[48:26] seeing that that will just stop
[48:28] everybody in its tracks doesn't matter
[48:30] if you're american
[48:32] foreign whatever cars you love you're
[48:33] like whoa what is that thing yeah and
[48:36] it's it's just amazing i mean i love it
[48:37] it's got attitude it's got stance it's
[48:39] got presence
[48:40] uh you see what it is you know what it
[48:42] is you know what it's going to do
[48:44] and
[48:45] yeah yeah elaine i'm good with you
[48:46] because this kind of feeds off of our
[48:48] conversation about hot rods taking all
[48:50] these components found the story
[48:52] included all of that high class is is
[48:55] this the hot wheels legends winner 2021
[48:58] well i think that the story really is
[49:00] something where a lot of times people
[49:02] are like why do people like cars it's
[49:04] just a machine it's just a tool like a
[49:06] you know toaster or something but the
[49:08] thing is is that most people's cars do
[49:10] have a connection to another person in
[49:13] them you know it it hopefully isn't
[49:15] always such a sad story i mean it's
[49:17] terrible to lose a friend but as long as
[49:19] he has this car and the whole time that
[49:20] he was building this car it's like his
[49:22] friend was with him and i think that
[49:23] that is something that people don't
[49:25] understand about car collecting it's not
[49:26] just a machine it's everyone who you've
[49:29] ever thought about talked about it with
[49:31] worked on it with yeah that's really
[49:33] cool mike what do you think of this uh
[49:35] the back story is incredible um i'm
[49:38] sorry about the accident um there's a
[49:40] lot going on in this car man i mean just
[49:42] confusion just give you a headache it
[49:44] just speaks like uh i was out in the
[49:47] backyard and i saw this and i saw that
[49:49] and i put it on this car what's the
[49:50] thing in the front that's uh it's like a
[49:52] little barrel you know like the saint
[49:54] bernard dogs that would rescue people
[49:55] from falls you know like i feel like
[49:57] it's like a skiing rescue thing there's
[49:59] a lot
[50:00] well they're from canada it's got i
[50:01] think colorado plates there's that but
[50:03] also like the old gasser and drought
[50:05] cars in general would have a small fuel
[50:07] tank up front so that's probably
[50:08] representative of that ted wu i know
[50:10] you're into porsches are you into
[50:11] mercedes-benz gassers
[50:13] i love this car i think it's hilarious
[50:15] though that mad mike thinks that there's
[50:17] too much in this car
[50:19] the man the man who put a chandelier in
[50:22] a car
[50:24] but yeah i mean if you look at it again
[50:27] silhouette it looks like a hot wheels
[50:28] vehicle and in the definition of built
[50:30] not bought you know i think this being a
[50:32] private car
[50:33] that really has obviously some passion
[50:35] enthusiasm behind it the story is
[50:37] amazing um yeah i mean it's a great
[50:39] build brian what do you think i said
[50:41] yeah
[50:42] you kind of want to chirp in
[50:44] this is one that i'm particularly drawn
[50:45] to you know i i think like like brendan
[50:47] said it's an unexpected body on a gasser
[50:51] theme you know so i really appreciate
[50:53] that and you know and i was talking
[50:54] before about you know you want that
[50:56] something that's visually striking and i
[50:58] think it really stands out just
[51:00] that that stance and proportion and
[51:02] everything and you just don't expect a
[51:03] mercedes like that and rick does this
[51:05] car offend you or excite you you're not
[51:07] lived in germany for many years so uh
[51:09] i'm familiar with a lot of these cars
[51:10] but one thing i will say he might have a
[51:12] little bit of a future vision there
[51:14] all cars are getting higher these days
[51:16] and i bet you
[51:17] that car can go through deep water
[51:19] better than a modern hundred thousand
[51:21] dollar issue
[51:24] high class it's just got mud all over it
[51:25] so it's awesome sarah what do you think
[51:27] of this i mean i when i saw this car i
[51:30] was like wow this is this might trigger
[51:32] like og like vintage mercedes-benz
[51:39] you can tell a person's personality by
[51:40] the way there's taste and the way they
[51:42] mod the cars and this guy and his friend
[51:44] inspired by his friend they didn't care
[51:45] what people would think and it's for a
[51:48] reason they made it up to the finalists
[51:49] so i think i can see it definitely as a
[51:52] they did something different because
[51:53] it's been a car that's been around
[51:55] generations everyone's done something
[51:57] some way so they were totally different
[51:58] we're going to do something different
[52:00] yeah i think they achieved that awesome
[52:02] is that a rolls-royce emblem on the
[52:05] front grill i think it is i think it is
[52:06] the flying right
[52:08] well you know i i wouldn't
[52:10] i wish it had been all mercedes i wish
[52:12] it was a mercedes gasser like a 6.3
[52:15] engine okay that you build so it so the
[52:17] theme sort of
[52:19] flows through you know yeah
[52:21] yeah but it's uh you know i look at a
[52:24] car like that and go oh i could restore
[52:25] that yeah
[52:27] well that's what i was gonna say is a
[52:28] surprise jay that car came from your
[52:30] fleet and that's your actual
[52:32] car yeah that's your car
[52:35] but i like you say i mean that's a
[52:37] classic example like yeah i did an
[52:39] interview this morning prior to this why
[52:41] do you like cars i like cars with a
[52:42] story and when you know the story then
[52:45] it really makes oh that's why you did
[52:47] well that's the there's a reason for
[52:49] everything so that's what makes it
[52:51] compelling and that it changes your
[52:53] whole look and feel about it once you
[52:55] hear the story yeah yeah you're kind of
[52:56] like i don't know and then you're oh i'm
[52:57] sorry my bad yeah that car is kind of
[52:59] cool now i like it all right well thank
[53:01] you guys and gals for uh your feedback
[53:03] there on high class next up we move to
[53:06] the 1969 daytona charger superbird cars
[53:09] in the building watch out again might
[53:12] need your tetanus shot here this is our
[53:13] road and track round winner let's hear
[53:15] from the owner christopher palmer
[53:20] hi my name is chris palmer and i am the
[53:22] owner of scraptona it is a
[53:25] rolling piece of art that literally came
[53:28] together
[53:29] in all the colors it was found and now
[53:31] it actually looks like a living
[53:32] character from the movie cars
[53:34] there are so many unique features to
[53:36] this car i wouldn't even know where to
[53:37] begin from the wide body
[53:40] to the flared out front fenders
[53:42] to
[53:43] simply a shell being skinned on top of a
[53:45] hand built chassis with a
[53:48] 740 horsepower nascar motor stuffed into
[53:51] it with 12 inch wide wheels custom-made
[53:54] wi-fi's and 15 inch wide tires front and
[53:57] rear the car is actually a 69 shell
[54:00] with coronet front fenders and a super
[54:03] bird nose
[54:04] what would it mean to me to have this
[54:05] car become a hot wheels i'd be
[54:09] amazing
[54:10] especially since i'm a
[54:12] toy
[54:14] collector hot wheels collector it'd be
[54:17] amazing it'd be a once in a lifetime
[54:19] type situation
[54:21] when you look at this car this this does
[54:23] scream hot wheels right i mean benedict
[54:25] i mean it's got a hot wheels logo on it
[54:26] so it does oh wow yeah well he's like
[54:28] here's five bucks too like there's a
[54:30] five dollar bill says brian on it
[54:33] jay i know when you first saw this car
[54:34] you were wondering
[54:35] is it is it this is it that daytona
[54:38] charger super like well i think it's
[54:39] definitely a hot wheels car yeah and it
[54:42] does have that look of
[54:44] uh
[54:45] you know the
[54:46] the two guys from uh from dukes of
[54:48] hazzard decided to build another car you
[54:50] know mean i i mean i love the that it's
[54:53] not all polished and it's
[54:55] not one color i mean i i love this sort
[54:58] of
[54:59] let's uh you know it reminds me of kind
[55:01] of like the rum runners okay if this was
[55:03] a decade or two earlier this is what
[55:05] you'd be running the hills of north
[55:07] carolina with a big tank full of
[55:09] moonshine running until the end of time
[55:11] but in terms of having a hot wheels look
[55:14] and it's easily identifiable and it's
[55:17] got so much visual thing so many places
[55:19] to look and your eyes settle and read
[55:21] and the doors are different color so
[55:23] it's a fascinating vehicle yeah yeah the
[55:25] iconic wing the lines of it i mean all
[55:27] of it uh i think when you open the door
[55:29] it has a waylon jennings soundtrack that
[55:30] plays yeah oh yeah that's a deep cut is
[55:32] mike installing a tv right now
[55:34] relax bro it has gps in it so um
[55:40] i'm making love to it okay all right
[55:42] he's gonna get after it uh i mean
[55:45] what do you think well i
[55:47] i've always been a fan of the second gen
[55:49] bee body just for the obvious reasons of
[55:51] tv and movie influences young kid
[55:53] and just seeing this is is really cool
[55:56] it is interesting that it does have a
[55:57] mix of both super bird and daytona parts
[55:59] because they everyone knows they are
[56:01] different and uh it's just neat seeing
[56:03] them kind of mashed up like that
[56:05] uh love the stance the wide body and the
[56:07] fact that
[56:08] hey this shows me i can build a charger
[56:10] for like
[56:11] not you know selling my house yeah
[56:14] yeah exactly right and just throw it
[56:16] together so what's a good i was just
[56:17] gonna say i love how he drive actually
[56:19] drives it around yeah
[56:20] yeah yeah like i said killer mike and
[56:22] rutledge they've seen this car uh
[56:23] picking up some barbecue around the
[56:25] corner uh 740 horsepower
[56:27] this thing's a beast i mean
[56:29] what stands out to me though is is is
[56:31] what i think uh mad mike and henrik are
[56:34] looking at which is just the visual
[56:35] interest of the car right he didn't try
[56:37] to you know smooth over all the panels
[56:39] you can see where he's bolting things
[56:40] together it's a really i mean you could
[56:42] spend hours looking at this car i think
[56:44] it's a really really visually cool car
[56:46] again what we're looking for on hot
[56:47] wheels so henrik i see you out front you
[56:49] know i think that it's got a really good
[56:51] proportion the way it's lowered down and
[56:53] just got that kind of dream proportion
[56:55] that every designer want i think what's
[56:57] interesting is actually this idea of
[56:59] just having all these different parts
[57:00] put on exactly the way he found them and
[57:03] it's i'm amazed that it actually fits
[57:04] that well yeah honestly because it sort
[57:07] of fits yeah pretty good yeah
[57:10] like you i mean you see you see the you
[57:11] know it's it's a popular word that the
[57:13] cancer here you know you're seeing some
[57:15] bondo though
[57:17] it
[57:17] what's really cool is sometimes when a
[57:19] when you see it from the side it doesn't
[57:21] look like it's bulbous this car actually
[57:23] still adheres to the lines of the
[57:25] fenders right so if you just look at it
[57:26] straight on but then you go here oh yeah
[57:29] it's wide body and like you said the
[57:30] oversized cartoony caricature offset
[57:33] here like just with the rims and the
[57:34] wheels would you agree oh yeah i mean it
[57:37] sits great it looks good in profile i
[57:40] mean
[57:40] any wing car looks good in profile no
[57:42] matter what you do to them i don't i
[57:44] mean they're so wild looking to begin
[57:46] with like from the factory that you can
[57:48] you can't really mess them up i mean
[57:50] some people might say you'd mess this up
[57:52] but it's hilarious that it's both
[57:54] daytona and superbird you know when you
[57:56] first read it out i was like oh somebody
[57:57] don't even know what kind of car they
[57:58] have but no it's actually both cars it
[58:00] is both cars and um i i don't know if
[58:04] anybody has heard this car run but if
[58:06] there was a category for like best
[58:09] sounding okay car in the competition
[58:11] it's between this and one of the other
[58:12] ones that's coming up i like that nice
[58:14] tv well you know
[58:15] dolly parton had a quote i would
[58:17] attribute to this car there we go it
[58:19] takes a lot of money to look this cheap
[58:22] you know like hey kevin says he's amazed
[58:25] at how everything fits but but it
[58:27] probably took a lot of work to get it to
[58:28] fit that badly that good you know what i
[58:31] mean yeah
[58:32] no but i'm not giving this i'm being a
[58:34] white guy i mean i mean it is because
[58:36] you realize to get that look of boy
[58:39] that's really crap and then you look
[58:40] carefully go oh no a lot of work went
[58:42] into this it's supposed to look like
[58:45] that so it takes a lot of money to look
[58:47] that cheap
[58:48] great absolutely great quote there you
[58:50] go so uh thank you judges and i you know
[58:53] normally the the dukes of hazard has
[58:55] obviously the different flag up here
[58:56] what what country is this is this
[58:58] scottish what what does everybody know
[58:59] what flag this is the white with the red
[59:01] regardless moving on i don't know if a
[59:02] helicopter is gonna land on yeah i don't
[59:03] think it's i don't think it's scotland
[59:06] i don't know what it is and somebody
[59:08] figure it out go ahead and google it all
[59:09] right so let's move on to our fifth
[59:11] entry representing new zealand the whanu
[59:14] absolutely love that country and uh mad
[59:15] mike was our international judge shout
[59:17] out to my boy matt mike not you mad mike
[59:19] this is the other one yeah there's
[59:20] there's multiple mad mics
[59:23] yeah all right so our fifth submission
[59:25] here from new zealand is the mazda616
[59:28] capella owned by mark strawbridge let's
[59:31] hear from mark
[59:34] what's up legends my name is mark
[59:35] strawbridge and i'm the owner of the
[59:37] 1973 mazda 616 capella aka the myth one
[59:41] six
[59:43] if i had to define my build i'd call it
[59:45] a tribute to those that pioneered the
[59:47] mighty rotary it's not paired correct
[59:49] but we built it the way they did the
[59:51] similar parts they did but more
[59:52] importantly it's driven the way they did
[59:55] with the help of close mates we
[59:56] transformed the car first into a
[59:58] streetcar themed as a japanese police
[1:00:00] car then ultimately into the circuit
[1:00:02] racer you see today that build saw the
[1:00:04] period style roll cage custom work
[1:00:07] wheels and fresh 12app
[1:00:09] since then we've continued to make
[1:00:11] tweaks in the name of speed this is the
[1:00:13] third set of graphics to be laid over
[1:00:15] the original patina but inside and
[1:00:17] underneath it's highly detailed
[1:00:19] to have my car immortalized as a hot
[1:00:21] wheels diecast model would be insane it
[1:00:24] would be a dream ending to this amazing
[1:00:27] journey my one-year-old son hayes will
[1:00:29] then be able to play with a toy version
[1:00:31] of his dad's favorite car making all the
[1:00:34] rap sounds all day
[1:00:35] every day
[1:00:37] i mean this this car looks good and it
[1:00:39] performs even better like i said i i
[1:00:41] love new zealand i have multiple friends
[1:00:42] down there the fanu that's uh maori for
[1:00:45] uh family but uh sarah i'm gonna go to
[1:00:47] you your import gal you have fdr x7 have
[1:00:49] you ever seen a 616 capella no not in
[1:00:52] person but i love that thing yeah yeah
[1:00:55] i mean like for a new zealand guy too he
[1:00:57] understands completely the jdm culture
[1:01:00] and he just knew how to like
[1:01:02] just do everything i love this
[1:01:04] i love this car monsters and rotaries
[1:01:06] are really popular in australia and new
[1:01:07] zealand so rightfully so but this this
[1:01:10] capella i think with the you know like
[1:01:12] you said it has that jdm flare and
[1:01:13] speaking of flares the unpainted flares
[1:01:15] is kind of jdm yes and he had he was
[1:01:18] gangster enough to even touch the body
[1:01:20] of that car to put the over fenders on
[1:01:22] so i think
[1:01:23] i just love this car um yeah uh going
[1:01:26] over to you this pays tribute to the 70s
[1:01:28] mazda factory racers like the like racer
[1:01:31] yoshima katayama so again that history
[1:01:34] runs deep there is this your legends
[1:01:36] 2021 winner
[1:01:38] it certainly could be i mean yeah giving
[1:01:40] a nod to sort of the the japan touring
[1:01:42] car uh championship racing i think the
[1:01:44] um delivery is super interesting from
[1:01:47] from a hot wheels standpoint you know
[1:01:48] we've done the rx3 uh haven't done this
[1:01:50] body yet um but a lot of popularity with
[1:01:53] that casting so this is definitely in
[1:01:55] line with uh with what our fans like and
[1:01:57] that's it's great because it's
[1:01:58] international submission but it's a jdm
[1:02:00] car right and that's what you're talking
[1:02:02] earlier i mean this sort of great
[1:02:04] mixing of cultures and sort of
[1:02:06] perspectives is what makes kind of uh
[1:02:08] this car great and all these cars great
[1:02:10] yeah
[1:02:11] i've got a question for you is there a
[1:02:12] way that you can make the hot wheels
[1:02:14] make noise because i mentioned that
[1:02:17] there was another car that was
[1:02:18] incredible sounding and this one
[1:02:21] i mean this guy's neighbors know every
[1:02:23] time he starts that up for like 15 miles
[1:02:27] yup the brap uh jay are you are you a
[1:02:29] mazda guy i i'm a monster guy i have a
[1:02:32] cosmo i've got a mazda rx8 you know what
[1:02:34] i love about it i love it it's so
[1:02:36] completely opposite of what americans
[1:02:38] are doing it's like i love when i go to
[1:02:40] england i've got a capri it's got the
[1:02:42] big block v6 well there's no big black
[1:02:44] v6
[1:02:46] but to them anything past anything past
[1:02:48] 2.5 liter might as well be a 426 hemi
[1:02:51] you know
[1:02:52] and that's what i like it's just a
[1:02:54] different way of
[1:02:56] coming to the same answer
[1:02:59] we ask the question everybody has a
[1:03:00] different solution but the same answer
[1:03:02] is different fast
[1:03:05] interesting you know and that's what i
[1:03:06] like it's classically
[1:03:08] there's nothing american at all about it
[1:03:11] but somehow it is you know it's a
[1:03:13] different interpretation of it yeah and
[1:03:15] i i find that really fascinating it's
[1:03:17] like
[1:03:17] when you order pizza it's got pineapple
[1:03:19] and ham on it what
[1:03:22] triggered man mike's triggered that's
[1:03:24] why he's mad yeah
[1:03:28] [Laughter]
[1:03:40] is really cool is that it's actually a
[1:03:41] relatively sedate sedan right there's
[1:03:45] it's a very normal vehicle and he's
[1:03:47] mastered to get this thing look super
[1:03:50] powerful and wild and given a whole
[1:03:52] different
[1:03:53] feel to it i mean that thing just looks
[1:03:55] mean i mean you don't want to see that
[1:03:56] thing in the rearview mirror yeah mark
[1:03:58] strawbridge he talks about it but again
[1:04:00] there it is ripping who's familiar with
[1:04:01] the lead foot festival either fans
[1:04:03] watching at home or i mean lead foot
[1:04:04] festival that's that's absolutely
[1:04:05] awesome rod millen's event and i mean
[1:04:07] just all those events in new zealand
[1:04:09] they love matt they do skids they have
[1:04:11] skid competitions have you ever been to
[1:04:13] one of those brendan i have not been i
[1:04:15] know about them i want to drive that car
[1:04:17] yeah i mean that that thing is cool yeah
[1:04:19] and another thing to his credit he's
[1:04:21] made a four-door car cool i mean you
[1:04:23] know you talk about rules of hot rods it
[1:04:25] for so many years no four-door cars yeah
[1:04:28] that's that's just cool no it's uh and
[1:04:30] and mr benedict what do you think yeah i
[1:04:32] mean again i love the stance it just it
[1:04:34] sits just right you know and it's
[1:04:36] purpose-built and i think that's just
[1:04:37] awesome the the pain tribute to the old
[1:04:40] factory racers of the 70s is such a cool
[1:04:43] idea uh so mike no pine or you love
[1:04:45] pineapple i love pineapple but i'm what
[1:04:47] i've figured out this whole time
[1:04:49] does anybody else see that there's two
[1:04:51] headlights on one side and one on the
[1:04:53] other yeah what is that sarah maybe you
[1:04:55] could kind of anybody touch on that
[1:04:57] there's two headlights one headlight
[1:04:58] intake or is it oil cooler or
[1:05:01] again that's going around i got to see
[1:05:03] it i thought it was so unique
[1:05:05] they keep spinning it i can't yeah well
[1:05:07] they did that in the 60s with the ford
[1:05:09] thunderbolt and a few other cars
[1:05:11] that were that was fairly common so i
[1:05:13] think it's probably an intake
[1:05:15] very much very cool car the e6 uh the
[1:05:18] capella there as uh here's our runner
[1:05:20] show we're uh halfway through as we've
[1:05:23] seen five vehicles this is our runner
[1:05:24] show and this is how it's going and
[1:05:25] break it down up next jay leno's diecast
[1:05:28] for all you collectors out there and
[1:05:29] that's why you're watching we're gonna
[1:05:30] learn about this brand new product and
[1:05:32] project jay leno diecast we'll see our
[1:05:34] finals cars part three finals cars part
[1:05:37] four
[1:05:38] our judges picks
[1:05:39] and then jay gets to pick one because
[1:05:41] this is his house this is his clubhouse
[1:05:43] and then finally we will crown and
[1:05:45] announce our 2021 hot wheels legends
[1:05:49] finale winner and who will be
[1:05:50] immortalized as a 164th diecast so brian
[1:05:55] yeah we have a new collection i'm going
[1:05:56] to grab a seat if you want to jump up
[1:05:58] here as well or however you want to see
[1:06:00] fit but
[1:06:01] it's a jay leno collection what's really
[1:06:03] cool here jay as we pivot around and
[1:06:06] this is just a small small assortment of
[1:06:08] what's going to what's going to be what
[1:06:10] we'll be uh introducing next year but um
[1:06:12] yeah
[1:06:13] we're pleased to announce that we're
[1:06:14] doing a whole jay leno's garage
[1:06:17] collection yeah we've been working very
[1:06:19] closely together on this so yeah so
[1:06:21] we're doing a whole series of his cars
[1:06:23] from his garage
[1:06:24] in the car culture line as well as in
[1:06:27] our
[1:06:28] premium entertainment assortment so
[1:06:30] here's one of the cars you see there
[1:06:31] that's probably one of the most iconic
[1:06:33] cars you know the fun part about this is
[1:06:34] they brought initially i think tomato
[1:06:37] that's fine and they would go no no no
[1:06:39] see we didn't have this little piece
[1:06:40] here we gotta i go i didn't even notice
[1:06:42] that so i mean to me it looked fine
[1:06:46] but yeah yeah but
[1:06:48] so you know because when i was a kid you
[1:06:49] put m80s in them and you blow them up
[1:06:52] you know so but to me the attention to
[1:06:54] detail is that is that tiny j right
[1:06:58] there that's
[1:07:03] the really cool part is they've got the
[1:07:04] right number of fins on the cylinder i
[1:07:06] mean everything yeah so you were you
[1:07:08] were part of the details yeah and jay
[1:07:10] was so helpful along the way i mean like
[1:07:12] uh he actually pulled out his uh belly
[1:07:14] pans um so that i could get he got good
[1:07:16] shots of those for me so i can make sure
[1:07:18] that like i drive it around without the
[1:07:19] belly pants just because with belly
[1:07:22] pants catch fluid and if you have a fire
[1:07:24] poof you've got a bomb you know so i
[1:07:26] take them they go no we got to put the
[1:07:27] belly pan so i i went up in the in the
[1:07:29] attic here in the garage and pulled out
[1:07:31] the belly pan we put that to work yeah
[1:07:33] i'm thinking guys it's good enough
[1:07:35] really don't worry about it so the
[1:07:36] jaylin collection we have just a small
[1:07:38] assortment here and these are these i
[1:07:40] mean what's the whole process real quick
[1:07:41] here but i think it's really so what
[1:07:43] you're looking at here are our 3d prints
[1:07:45] and at various stages actually so uh
[1:07:47] this one uh is the most recent um that
[1:07:50] we just reviewed and and
[1:07:52] got sculpt approval on
[1:07:54] the echo jet uh this is a solid model so
[1:07:56] this is kind of before we turn it over
[1:07:58] to our engineering partners and and part
[1:08:00] it out and everything like these two are
[1:08:02] parted out right so these
[1:08:03] are final um
[1:08:06] patterns these are these are the actual
[1:08:07] patterns that that will be tooled up and
[1:08:10] used so cool um yeah the 3d printing is
[1:08:12] amazing now i mean we can print any
[1:08:14] color we want so i try to print it in
[1:08:15] the colors that the cars are and so you
[1:08:17] get a real sense of what it's going to
[1:08:18] look and what i think is really cool i
[1:08:19] touched on earlier is you know the this
[1:08:21] car there's only one of one in the world
[1:08:24] this echo echo jet right right it's
[1:08:25] called it's here in the building right
[1:08:27] you only you only own the real one but
[1:08:29] now everybody can own one yeah no that's
[1:08:31] it's fantastic it's really good and this
[1:08:34] car this car one what what kind of
[1:08:36] accolades this vehicle i've got hot rod
[1:08:37] of the year and uh
[1:08:39] it's sema because it really it well it's
[1:08:41] a hot rod it just says it has an
[1:08:44] allison honeywell lt101 jet engine
[1:08:46] another one of the big attack
[1:08:47] helicopters so cool crazy huh well
[1:08:49] awesome thank you brian for your
[1:08:50] execution thank you jay for uh shrinking
[1:08:52] down your cards well thanks thanks i
[1:08:54] appreciate it very very exciting with
[1:08:55] the jay leno collection again thank you
[1:08:57] brian and jay as we move on to our
[1:08:59] malaysian vehicle and uh this is really
[1:09:02] cool i love malaysia i love the people
[1:09:03] there and of course i love the food
[1:09:04] there but uh this is really kind of kind
[1:09:07] of like the the the food that is there
[1:09:08] it's just a mash culture of so many
[1:09:10] different influences so let's take a
[1:09:12] look at the malaysia round winner the
[1:09:14] dahatsu mira
[1:09:16] owned by abdul wahiab bin bihari
[1:09:36] [Music]
[1:09:46] classy
[1:10:27] [Laughter]
[1:10:29] and you know you know the cool thing
[1:10:30] about this is this is one of the first
[1:10:32] cars we built on pit my ride oh really
[1:10:34] yeah the die hot too high jet okay and
[1:10:37] it's just incredible and the the
[1:10:39] throwback to the rat fink oh man big
[1:10:41] daddy roth yo right at big daddy roth oh
[1:10:44] yeah that's this is what i'm talking
[1:10:45] about this is you know a malaysian car
[1:10:47] daihatsumira it's very japanese with the
[1:10:50] american influence i mean it has i mean
[1:10:52] this is the epcot center of vehicles it
[1:10:54] has all the countries involved here
[1:10:56] right and and just think about it on
[1:10:58] that wall
[1:10:59] i could possibly put a 65-inch
[1:11:02] not one but two 65-inches
[1:11:05] man it's just an incredible build i just
[1:11:08] i love the vehicle right he did a great
[1:11:10] job on it i love the colors have you
[1:11:12] ever done a hatsu mira we have not but
[1:11:14] we uh this is not the first one we've
[1:11:16] seen entered into the legends tour but
[1:11:18] um but this one's really really nice i i
[1:11:20] like the approach for you know first of
[1:11:22] all shout out to our friends in malaysia
[1:11:24] huge collector can be there for hot
[1:11:25] wheels so so we see you thank you um
[1:11:28] this is one where i feel like he's
[1:11:30] really embraced over the whimsicalness
[1:11:31] of the car itself i mean it just he's
[1:11:33] played that up he's got the fun ladder
[1:11:34] he's got the roof rack the sort of
[1:11:36] lights on the roof rack it's it feels
[1:11:38] like a really fun car i i can't help but
[1:11:40] think of uh late legendary designer
[1:11:42] riusada from our team he would have
[1:11:44] loved this car kind of has that sort of
[1:11:46] uh nope or tuned aesthetic that he's
[1:11:48] known for so uh yeah i mean great great
[1:11:51] one right here and again i think riya
[1:11:52] would have loved this one jay you were
[1:11:54] asking this did he modify i like kind of
[1:11:56] stumping you a little bit i didn't know
[1:11:57] i don't know you know the fun part about
[1:11:59] this when i saw his face and he was
[1:12:01] talking i don't speak malaysian i don't
[1:12:03] understand malaysian but i knew exactly
[1:12:05] what he was saying you know i'm saying
[1:12:07] my life to communication if i met that
[1:12:08] guy in the street i almost feel like i
[1:12:10] could convey my thoughts to him and him
[1:12:12] to me even though we don't speak he
[1:12:14] probably speaks english but you know so
[1:12:16] that's what i found fascinating the look
[1:12:18] on his face he just looked like every
[1:12:21] car guy you ever meet the enthusiasm the
[1:12:23] excitement and that's what really makes
[1:12:25] the the
[1:12:26] the hobby fun and that's what i always
[1:12:28] say if you don't know anything about the
[1:12:29] car find the owner and ask them about it
[1:12:30] they'll chew your ear off forever right
[1:12:32] elena like what do you what do you think
[1:12:34] of the daihatu mira and again just the
[1:12:36] the mash well first of all my sister's
[1:12:37] name is mira so i automatically like it
[1:12:39] shout out to my sis she's rad um but
[1:12:42] also
[1:12:43] any
[1:12:44] any like k vehicle or variant i'm like
[1:12:47] super pro like tiny tiny cars and tiny
[1:12:49] trucks i know everyone thinks of me as a
[1:12:51] muscle car person but i own an opel gt
[1:12:53] okay so i'm into tiny cars and uh tiny
[1:12:56] trucks and tiny vans are even better
[1:12:58] than tiny cars because they're that much
[1:13:00] more shocking baby car
[1:13:04] yeah i i think that hatsu is really cool
[1:13:05] has that jdm i know my boys at lean
[1:13:07] customs they've uh they've done some
[1:13:09] cool stuff with their daihatsu mira and
[1:13:11] again this is it's not just the kind of
[1:13:14] full oe sarah what do you what do you
[1:13:15] think of the vehicle so i used to live
[1:13:17] in japan for a handful of months and
[1:13:19] there's a lot of different type of
[1:13:20] dioxins but this is like a og and it's
[1:13:23] that van mira van so it's a pretty rare
[1:13:26] daihatsu that people in japan especially
[1:13:28] would scream over and so
[1:13:30] the color is so popping great i can
[1:13:32] definitely see it as a hot wheel car
[1:13:34] it's also a rare car it's a diat suit
[1:13:36] everyone loves diapers they try to ship
[1:13:37] it here in america so they're pretty
[1:13:39] popular yeah they're really cool like
[1:13:41] the steel wheels kind of americana vibe
[1:13:43] well you know the int that would
[1:13:45] interior something that you know
[1:13:47] designers have been trying to do in show
[1:13:49] cars for years and he actually built it
[1:13:50] which is pretty amazing
[1:13:52] and also what's amazing is it it looks
[1:13:54] super tall i bet you could stand in it
[1:13:57] and being able to make such a narrow
[1:13:59] tall car look fairly stable is pretty
[1:14:02] cool so he widened out the track and it
[1:14:05] just got that feel that
[1:14:07] it may tip over but maybe not
[1:14:09] i like the roof rack too it's kind of
[1:14:11] got a surf wagon vibe yeah obviously
[1:14:13] with the big daddy roth i love i love
[1:14:15] how he took something you know kind of
[1:14:16] mundane and practical like a delivery
[1:14:17] van and and made it into something fun
[1:14:20] and
[1:14:20] and exciting you know uh the stance
[1:14:22] again is just awesome and and
[1:14:25] the detailing and
[1:14:26] like matt mike was saying you know like
[1:14:28] the the sort of reference to us you know
[1:14:31] american hot rod culture is is really
[1:14:33] cool
[1:14:34] and and to your point again malaysia
[1:14:36] great diecast collector and community
[1:14:37] they always watch they always tune in
[1:14:39] they love automotive culture down in
[1:14:41] malaysia and in southeast asia in
[1:14:42] general singapore malaysia indonesia
[1:14:43] thailand
[1:14:44] definitely yeah yeah absolutely i mean
[1:14:46] big part of our fan base and and uh we
[1:14:48] thank you guys thank you so much there
[1:14:50] you go all right let's move on to our
[1:14:51] seventh submission here this was our dub
[1:14:54] round winner and i love this vehicle
[1:14:56] this gentleman's been working on this
[1:14:57] vehicle for multiple years it's his
[1:14:58] dream vehicle and it's here in the
[1:15:00] building so we can see it in the shiny
[1:15:02] metal that is the 2020 lulu and let's
[1:15:05] hear from the owner mr paul a i believe
[1:15:08] it's pronounced kalanian here you go
[1:15:09] paul
[1:15:11] good morning i'm paul kalanian and this
[1:15:14] is lulu my all-aluminum two-seat sport
[1:15:17] car
[1:15:18] that i built here in my shop
[1:15:20] i utilize my father's lathe milling
[1:15:24] machine and skills he taught me as a
[1:15:26] child
[1:15:27] to build this car
[1:15:29] i wanted to build something that was
[1:15:30] very light very low and powerful and i
[1:15:34] remembered mickey thompson's
[1:15:36] harvey aluminum special
[1:15:38] which acted as my inspiration to build
[1:15:41] this car
[1:15:42] the car is cut from 6061 aluminum panels
[1:15:46] that were water jet cut
[1:15:48] and heliarc welded here in the shop
[1:15:51] to form a very strong monocoque and
[1:15:54] bulkhead
[1:15:55] chassis
[1:15:57] i really hope that lulu
[1:15:59] will be immortalized by winning this
[1:16:01] year's top wheels contest
[1:16:04] she will serve to inspire generations
[1:16:06] children
[1:16:07] to dream their dreams and go ahead and
[1:16:10] build them
[1:16:11] as i did here with lulu
[1:16:14] lulu and i thank you very much for this
[1:16:16] opportunity
[1:16:18] jay i see you looking at me you're
[1:16:19] giving you're like
[1:16:20] me first me first well he's got the
[1:16:22] right color hair first of all
[1:16:25] because i believe old age and treachery
[1:16:27] always beats youth and inexperience yeah
[1:16:30] but the thing i love about this is
[1:16:33] it's a real car i like the pagani style
[1:16:35] mirrors on it the i like the fact
[1:16:38] i think just probably any car we've seen
[1:16:40] if you had to drive from here to chicago
[1:16:42] you could do it in this one i mean it
[1:16:44] looks like it handles it looks like it's
[1:16:46] fast and the metal work is unbelievable
[1:16:49] look at those panels the fact that
[1:16:51] they're not all scratched from you know
[1:16:53] missing a rivet or a screw i mean it's
[1:16:56] pretty amazing i i
[1:16:58] look at the suspension the uprights
[1:17:00] there's a lot of engineering and thought
[1:17:02] went into this i love the fact that i
[1:17:04] can the whole engine is visual here i
[1:17:06] love that it's not a big v8 it's a light
[1:17:09] car it's a small car it's got a a
[1:17:12] smaller what's that 2.5 liter they're
[1:17:14] saying two liters so it's a gm ltg two
[1:17:15] liter oh okay yeah turbo four yeah yeah
[1:17:17] i mean it's a pre-motor yeah i think
[1:17:20] it's i think it's really fantastic and
[1:17:22] just
[1:17:23] just these panels look how they all fit
[1:17:25] it's amazing i mean every screw head
[1:17:28] lines up they're exactly the exact
[1:17:30] distance apart i mean this is built by a
[1:17:33] watchmaker right you know this is a guy
[1:17:35] who could take a watch apart and put it
[1:17:37] back together and the detail i mean this
[1:17:40] here this just reminds me of horatio
[1:17:42] pagani yeah exactly
[1:17:44] the big eyelashes he calls it exactly
[1:17:46] there's nothing that's not it's all in
[1:17:48] perfect scale i mean
[1:17:51] any person could drive it
[1:17:53] it looks comfortable it looks fun with
[1:17:55] the brooklyn's type screens uh i i think
[1:17:58] it's just uh just almost fiera the body
[1:18:01] looks like the front end looks almost
[1:18:03] yeah i mean
[1:18:04] the wheels everything is i think it's uh
[1:18:08] i think it's probably the most
[1:18:09] professionally built car in terms of
[1:18:12] that's one of one yeah it's one on one
[1:18:13] there's the only one in the world right
[1:18:14] henrik you know what's interesting here
[1:18:16] i think is every designer always try to
[1:18:19] make the lowest body side they can i
[1:18:21] think he definitely wins
[1:18:24] look at this section i almost feel like
[1:18:26] it's an airplane wing right that's what
[1:18:28] i said it's faced the wrong way i
[1:18:29] guarantee you if he
[1:18:31] does a sideway drift in this this will
[1:18:33] be the most aerodynamic vehicle in the
[1:18:34] world i mean look at this
[1:18:36] you know what i mean i mean it's just
[1:18:37] but i agree what jay says you feel the
[1:18:39] proportions of everything here the kind
[1:18:42] of
[1:18:43] very gentle sculpture
[1:18:45] is just amazing and just everything is
[1:18:47] proportional correct done like like jay
[1:18:49] was saying the mirrors is the right size
[1:18:51] it just has that feel like you want to
[1:18:53] jump in it yeah and kind of just drop it
[1:18:55] to be pounded on it's just and and all
[1:18:57] the details like all these little screws
[1:18:59] are even correctly done like look how
[1:19:01] they're all lined up and how you have to
[1:19:03] probably bend every single panel
[1:19:06] and it's it's actually not com so
[1:19:09] normally if you do this if if you end up
[1:19:11] just doing an extrusion it's fairly easy
[1:19:14] but you can actually see he put planned
[1:19:15] view into it and there's some emotions
[1:19:17] happening and that's actually what's
[1:19:19] difficult when you build a car so i
[1:19:20] agree with jay this is probably one of
[1:19:22] the what i've seen one of the best
[1:19:24] builds and what you really feel there
[1:19:25] was a lot of emotion going into it
[1:19:27] speaking of emotion i will tell you that
[1:19:29] this is the first time i'm seeing this
[1:19:30] car we've only seen digitally through
[1:19:32] our hot wheels legends tour stops i
[1:19:33] don't really care for this car digitally
[1:19:35] seeing it in person i actually do
[1:19:37] appreciate it a lot more different it
[1:19:39] really does yeah you guys see in reality
[1:19:40] just how shiny and chrome is every car
[1:19:42] you gotta see in a row every time a new
[1:19:44] car you see in the pictures like ah it's
[1:19:45] not that great then you see in reality
[1:19:47] you start appreciating what the design
[1:19:48] and the engineers were thinking that's
[1:19:50] what a lot of people say about me you
[1:19:51] really need to see jared in reality
[1:19:53] absolutely
[1:19:54] what do you think well um he mentioned
[1:19:56] mickey thompson as an inspiration which
[1:19:58] i think is great you know a lot of
[1:19:59] people
[1:20:00] maybe don't know mickey thompson's name
[1:20:02] but i would say that he might be
[1:20:04] one of or maybe even the most important
[1:20:06] person in hot rodding and racing history
[1:20:09] he did a lot of amazing things
[1:20:11] um the other person that this makes me
[1:20:13] think of is colin chapman i think about
[1:20:15] lotus early lotuses um you know
[1:20:18] light and simple it's it's nothing that
[1:20:21] you don't need it's everything that you
[1:20:22] do um i wouldn't want to polish it
[1:20:24] though i bet it will be very fast on
[1:20:26] your hot wheels test track
[1:20:29] yeah
[1:20:30] don't know it's so clean you could eat
[1:20:32] off it yeah
[1:20:33] it's really clean yeah but i was just
[1:20:35] thinking like of all the cars that we've
[1:20:37] seen this would be the one that would be
[1:20:40] in jay leno's garage
[1:20:42] yeah yeah would you agree oh well he's
[1:20:44] breaking breaking
[1:20:49] yeah this one would wind up in my garage
[1:20:52] yeah it's a really cool car so man like
[1:20:55] i said in the flesh in the in the shiny
[1:20:57] and chrome and new it looks great again
[1:20:59] ariel adam kind of has an aerial kind of
[1:21:00] vibe right
[1:21:02] so really cool car but uh
[1:21:04] as we move on through our vehicles again
[1:21:05] thank you to the lulu we also want to
[1:21:07] thank our presenting sponsor mobile one
[1:21:10] don't forget to head over to

[1:21:39] vehicle in person and of course in the
[1:21:42] 164th
[1:21:44] so as jay drove that thing in like you
[1:21:46] said gallons per mile as opposed to
[1:21:48] miles per gallon really cool car this
[1:21:50] one's mine appreciate that thank you
[1:21:51] very much
[1:21:52] as uh we move on to our next vehicles
[1:21:54] you guys having fun yeah
[1:21:56] yeah yeah it's a great way to start
[1:21:58] saturday and again just culminate our
[1:22:00] hot wheels legends 2021 grand finale who
[1:22:03] will join the garage of legends we will
[1:22:05] find out again so here is our number
[1:22:07] eight submission i really like this car
[1:22:09] again we just have all these different
[1:22:11] mash culture but this is our united
[1:22:13] kingdom so where's alex at with that
[1:22:15] beautiful accent talking about the nfts
[1:22:16] earlier the this this vehicle is waving
[1:22:19] the union jack and again the owner is
[1:22:22] gonna talk to us about the volvo p1800
[1:22:25] gasser this vehicle's deemed ain't no
[1:22:28] saint
[1:22:30] my name is lee johnson and i'm the owner
[1:22:33] driver and builder of the ain't no saint
[1:22:35] gasser
[1:22:37] approximately seven years ago i was
[1:22:38] looking for the car to fulfill my dream
[1:22:40] of the gasser so we eventually tripped
[1:22:43] over the volvo
[1:22:44] this was a rusty old hulk
[1:22:46] due for a restoration but unfortunately
[1:22:49] just that bit too far gone so i bought
[1:22:51] it anyway
[1:22:52] put it back to our workshop
[1:22:54] here in the uk
[1:22:56] and stripped it out ready to make the
[1:22:58] dream
[1:23:00] we put in the big block chevy
[1:23:02] supercharged it
[1:23:03] big carburetors on it
[1:23:05] four-speed three-speed transmission
[1:23:08] ford rear axle as per usual and then
[1:23:11] there it was
[1:23:12] to have the car immortalized as a hot
[1:23:15] wheels car would be ultimate
[1:23:18] it's got this presence everybody we talk
[1:23:20] to always comes up to us and says ah it
[1:23:22] looks just like a hot wheels car so
[1:23:25] we're in hope that you guys will give us
[1:23:27] that accolade and make one for us
[1:23:31] thank you so much lee mr gasser write to
[1:23:33] you
[1:23:34] volvo p1800 come on man
[1:23:37] this thing is sick i love it it's i mean
[1:23:40] the the surprise element of it i mean
[1:23:42] you got that original it blew your hair
[1:23:44] back it did it did that that's just from
[1:23:46] the ride in the car you saw that thing
[1:23:47] on the track i want to drive that one
[1:23:49] too but no seriously this this thing is
[1:23:51] really cool i love the the surprise
[1:23:54] factor of a volvo you know you think of
[1:23:56] a volvo you think of like a stodgy
[1:23:58] engineer or something going to teach
[1:24:00] college or something but this this is
[1:24:03] just attitude this is performance i love
[1:24:05] the wheels sticking out i love the
[1:24:06] engine sticking up i love the color
[1:24:08] green i love the fact it's right hand
[1:24:10] drive i love the exhaust that sticks out
[1:24:12] the side i mean it's just just cool it's
[1:24:13] got stance
[1:24:15] you know this thing pulls up next to you
[1:24:16] you're going to let it go first i see
[1:24:18] mike i hear you under your breath yeah
[1:24:22] it's like a 454 fighter jet it's just
[1:24:24] incredible look i mean look how clean
[1:24:26] the paint is yeah it's just incredible
[1:24:28] there's that tank out front it has all
[1:24:30] those gasser elements that say american
[1:24:32] but it's definitely not jay i mean yeah
[1:24:35] i mean this wins the gasser thing here
[1:24:37] to me because
[1:24:38] everything is consistent i love the fact
[1:24:41] that he's in england and he tracked down
[1:24:43] some hoosier tires because it's it's
[1:24:45] just such an american build yeah i mean
[1:24:48] i i love
[1:24:49] i love when europeans do an american
[1:24:51] thing and they always take it to the
[1:24:53] next they always find something we miss
[1:24:55] and the cleanness the attention to
[1:24:58] detail is really now see he's got just
[1:25:01] the other one had the barrel in front
[1:25:02] he's got the fuel in the front there as
[1:25:04] well and uh yeah i i love the grill i
[1:25:07] love the blacked out lights and not
[1:25:09] blacked out but got the aluminum delete
[1:25:11] in there delete it as this and i love
[1:25:13] the fact that the the body is
[1:25:15] beautifully and meticulously painted and
[1:25:18] maintained it's not just stick a body on
[1:25:20] again and go down the strip you know
[1:25:22] yeah and it has some american flair
[1:25:23] there too even with the fins the lines
[1:25:25] of it right so like the big fins kind of
[1:25:26] not as big as some of the 50s american
[1:25:28] cars but still has that kind of
[1:25:30] silhouette yeah that's what's fun when
[1:25:32] you go to england there's so much neat
[1:25:33] stuff in little garage little cottage
[1:25:36] little shed
[1:25:37] yeah everybody's got a shed
[1:25:39] the house is falling apart but the shed
[1:25:41] is fantastic
[1:25:42] yeah yeah it's just
[1:25:44] yeah i think it's just incredible it's
[1:25:45] really something and it looks like a hot
[1:25:47] wheels car it looks like a car that
[1:25:49] shouldn't do any of this
[1:25:51] and they've taken it to that level the
[1:25:53] detail on the engine the other gas we
[1:25:55] didn't really see the engine at all
[1:25:56] right really this is this is a true
[1:25:58] gasser in your face in your face you
[1:26:01] know the supercharger sticking out over
[1:26:03] almost out of the roof yeah it's really
[1:26:05] uh really an amazing piece of work jay
[1:26:08] not a loss for words about this vehicle
[1:26:09] obviously excited about this and the
[1:26:10] lulu i'm just going off yeah just
[1:26:12] testing the temperature but i'm gonna go
[1:26:14] to elena over here have you ever been a
[1:26:15] santa pod raceway okay and in fact i've
[1:26:17] been lucky enough to see this car in
[1:26:19] person and i've seen it race i've met
[1:26:21] lee and i've met his daughters um you
[1:26:23] know another great story he didn't tell
[1:26:25] it in the video but um he built this car
[1:26:28] with his whole family they all go racing
[1:26:30] together i think he has three daughters
[1:26:32] and his daughters are racing it now
[1:26:34] they're driving it so he's been he's
[1:26:36] been teaching them how to drive and now
[1:26:37] they're racing and cynopod is this
[1:26:39] incredible track like people are like
[1:26:41] drag racing in england that's not a
[1:26:42] thing but it is and it's been a part of
[1:26:44] their racing history since the since the
[1:26:47] 60s they were very into the early nhra
[1:26:50] development and they took
[1:26:53] a lot of inspiration from that and they
[1:26:54] built their own rules and they built
[1:26:55] their own track and it's so cool to see
[1:26:58] what they've done with american drag
[1:27:01] racing culture to make it their own to
[1:27:03] make it european also
[1:27:05] i really love the volvo p 1800 and i
[1:27:07] don't think you guys make one
[1:27:09] do you mean brian is there a volvo p800
[1:27:12] matchbox yeah but not hot wheels yeah
[1:27:15] you're here
[1:27:19] brian what's your role again yeah yeah
[1:27:20] matchbox got it okay
[1:27:22] uh but yeah still a diecast family but
[1:27:25] to execute this could this be done with
[1:27:27] this transition oh yeah 164.
[1:27:29] absolutely i mean this this is a hot
[1:27:31] wheels right i mean it's incredible uh
[1:27:34] and you know i i what i liked about the
[1:27:36] other gaster was how it was unexpected i
[1:27:38] think this is even more unexpected in a
[1:27:40] way um and and that paint like
[1:27:43] it's a it's a beautiful green i believe
[1:27:45] it's a volvo green but it kind of has
[1:27:46] the uh
[1:27:48] impression of being british racing right
[1:27:49] so which i think is cool and and that
[1:27:51] kind of um speaks to the whole global
[1:27:53] nature of it like i love that it's
[1:27:54] american style but it's a british guy
[1:27:57] but you know a
[1:27:59] swedish car you know is it's just all
[1:28:01] over the yeah yeah i love that and then
[1:28:02] kevin bacon was in a few good men always
[1:28:04] comes back to a few good man sorry but
[1:28:06] you know it's funny because when brad
[1:28:07] gracie first started in england i had a
[1:28:09] friend who was over there in those days
[1:28:11] and they'd go be careful they're gonna
[1:28:12] burn the clutch out don't play yeah
[1:28:14] because they would like it was like they
[1:28:15] would like throttle off and then hit the
[1:28:18] yeah yeah and then
[1:28:19] like this guy showed him no just dump
[1:28:21] the clay so you put a new clutch in put
[1:28:23] a clutch in you know they they expected
[1:28:25] left attrition they want to last the
[1:28:27] whole season you know so but when you
[1:28:29] watch early drag race they go
[1:28:30] [Music]
[1:28:33] it wasn't until later they really got
[1:28:35] into this type of thing yeah which makes
[1:28:37] it fun
[1:28:38] absolutely so that's the progression
[1:28:39] we're talking about now they're just
[1:28:40] dropping the clutch hammock burn up
[1:28:41] tires that's what's up all right so uh
[1:28:43] there's our uk submission now we move on
[1:28:45] to our mobile one
[1:28:47] fan vote winner now this is a great
[1:28:48] looking car like i said this is begging
[1:28:50] to be driven it's here in the building
[1:28:52] i've seen this vehicle in person before
[1:28:53] it's an absolute piece of art and this
[1:28:56] is the 1990 porsche 911 baja owned by tj
[1:29:00] russell let's hear from tj
[1:29:03] hi everybody my name is tj russell and
[1:29:05] this is my 1991 porsche baja 911
[1:29:11] it is the love child of a porsche gt3 rs
[1:29:15] and a trophy truck it started off as a
[1:29:17] fairly clean 1991 c4 convertible
[1:29:21] every part on the car that you see is
[1:29:24] custom and handcrafted
[1:29:26] it has a built 3.8 liter engine an
[1:29:29] all-wheel drive drivetrain and really
[1:29:32] nice luxury interior
[1:29:34] what would it mean to me to have my
[1:29:36] creation made into a hot wheels is hard
[1:29:38] to put into words it would be a little
[1:29:41] bit of a trophy as to
[1:29:44] what what has
[1:29:45] brought me to where i am today and even
[1:29:47] more importantly
[1:29:49] if this car gets made into a hot wheels
[1:29:51] and the next generation sits and plays
[1:29:53] with that in their sandbox and we could
[1:29:56] unknowingly be inspiring the next
[1:29:59] generation of car builder which means a
[1:30:02] lot to me and i think that would be very
[1:30:03] special
[1:30:05] great looking car i love this thing i i
[1:30:07] want to take this home in 101 version uh
[1:30:10] tj's new husband fairly recent new
[1:30:13] father but this is his baby he's
[1:30:15] actually selling this thing to help fund
[1:30:17] the next iteration of the baja 911.
[1:30:20] i i've seen videos of our friend matt
[1:30:22] farah he's been shredding and hammering
[1:30:24] on this thing this car is very capable
[1:30:26] that's what's really cool about is the
[1:30:27] function is the fashion so sorry to just
[1:30:29] take the lead on how emphatic i am about
[1:30:31] that car but you guys are the judges so
[1:30:33] no pressure jay what do you think of
[1:30:34] this well i think it's brilliant it's an
[1:30:36] uh unbelievable build the trouble is i
[1:30:39] feel like i've seen it before in the
[1:30:40] sense that if you go to any porsche
[1:30:42] panorama meet or any of those things
[1:30:44] there are different iterations of this
[1:30:46] not not this this is a unique build that
[1:30:49] he did himself and
[1:30:51] you have to you can spend hours looking
[1:30:52] at all the detail the trouble is i think
[1:30:55] visually oh have i didn't i see a car
[1:30:57] like that before that's the only when
[1:30:59] you think of hot wheels as being totally
[1:31:01] off the wall bonkers things you've never
[1:31:03] seen before like the volvo gasser is the
[1:31:06] exact opposite of this
[1:31:08] it's just
[1:31:09] uh it is it looks like something the
[1:31:11] porsche factory built almost the winter
[1:31:13] race so
[1:31:14] if any it would get hurt only because
[1:31:18] visually it resembles other cars even
[1:31:20] though it is unique to itself and i i i
[1:31:23] think it's just brilliant moment of
[1:31:24] silence wu's standing up
[1:31:26] it's a miracle it's a miracle woo
[1:31:28] and i know you're a porsche guy i had
[1:31:30] this car too this is it um now this this
[1:31:33] is uh to me i i think what you said
[1:31:35] makes a lot of sense it looks like what
[1:31:37] if porsche built this car which i think
[1:31:38] is kind of the point like i love the
[1:31:40] fact that the fit and finish is so good
[1:31:42] if you i don't even get to angle from
[1:31:43] the front i mean this thing the track is
[1:31:45] so white i think they extended over a
[1:31:46] foot it's just so wide so mean uh this
[1:31:50] to me is definitely a top contender i'm
[1:31:52] a huge porsche fan but this one takes
[1:31:54] the cake for me and this is the mobile
[1:31:55] and fan favorite so you have to think if
[1:31:57] this gets made
[1:31:58] i'm joking
[1:31:59] [Laughter]
[1:32:00] mike how many tvs it got
[1:32:02] uh oh it's got one nice one in the dash
[1:32:06] oh
[1:32:07] and he's got a switch pro
[1:32:10] henry you know what i think is what what
[1:32:11] is cool about this is is is gone even
[1:32:15] further than any other porsche before i
[1:32:17] mean it's super wide
[1:32:19] it's got that feel i mean the one thing
[1:32:21] this vehicle have is truly have that
[1:32:23] feel you could drive it anywhere at any
[1:32:25] time
[1:32:26] uh it's it's it's really cool i mean the
[1:32:28] proportions are amazing uh you know the
[1:32:31] what he did with both the front and the
[1:32:33] rear i think is pretty cool
[1:32:35] uh these little carbon fiber you know is
[1:32:37] nice so it just has that feel like you
[1:32:40] can actually jump in this thing and just
[1:32:41] drive it out in the desert and it's not
[1:32:43] going to break you know you feel like
[1:32:45] this is not going to break it has it has
[1:32:47] all the right parts i mean you look
[1:32:48] underneath the suspension how it's
[1:32:49] prepared i mean this is developed just
[1:32:51] for this vehicle and that's the
[1:32:53] intention is is building this developing
[1:32:55] it overall and like you said nice
[1:32:57] classic interior touch but uh yeah what
[1:33:00] are you looking at the plexiglas yeah
[1:33:02] the custom custom molded rear so
[1:33:04] obviously it's taking them
[1:33:05] yeah and you can see the power plant in
[1:33:08] there obviously you know it's got to
[1:33:09] have some juice there's it's super
[1:33:11] detailed i love all the detail like you
[1:33:13] know this is another one you could spend
[1:33:14] hours at just looking at all the the
[1:33:16] little areas and stuff and that that's
[1:33:17] always fun to recapture in 164 scales to
[1:33:20] get all that as well as i mean turn
[1:33:23] turning a car into an off-road vehicle
[1:33:25] uh the other thing i'm really amazed uh
[1:33:27] learning in the video was that this was
[1:33:29] a convertible oh yeah you know like
[1:33:31] catch that the first time i you know i
[1:33:33] didn't catch that until the video but i
[1:33:34] mean yeah you see that you see the
[1:33:36] parting line there but the doors are
[1:33:37] solid and
[1:33:38] it just like wow you really
[1:33:40] another shock factor but the other thing
[1:33:43] for an off-road vehicle this thing is
[1:33:44] incredibly impeccably clean i feel like
[1:33:46] the eat off of this thing
[1:33:48] where's the dirt where's the the you got
[1:33:50] to look underneath okay yeah all right
[1:33:51] it's been shredded
[1:33:53] i'm gonna go down to baja next week for
[1:33:55] the one thousand so i'm willing to take
[1:33:56] this down
[1:33:57] and bring it back yeah that's what you
[1:33:59] like at that point to that point of all
[1:34:01] the cars if if this was a like we get to
[1:34:04] take one of these home at the end of the
[1:34:05] day this is the one i want to take home
[1:34:07] right you take a long way though right
[1:34:09] yeah yeah exactly
[1:34:12] but to jay's point like
[1:34:14] it does feel like i've seen it before
[1:34:15] right like there's so much safari
[1:34:17] porsche stuff it's really hot right now
[1:34:19] but so it doesn't maybe feel as unique
[1:34:22] as some of the others but it's
[1:34:23] definitely like yeah if this was a
[1:34:25] porsche only event it would win
[1:34:28] or if it was an off-road event it would
[1:34:29] win in terms of
[1:34:31] it's not outrageous it's incredibly
[1:34:33] practical yeah right so you need a
[1:34:35] little bit more outrageous to be a hot
[1:34:37] where it almost feels like this is in a
[1:34:39] class above everything else
[1:34:41] yep like i said function the function is
[1:34:43] the fashion aesthetically drivability
[1:34:45] all of that if this was like okay which
[1:34:47] vehicle can survive the longest i would
[1:34:49] say this might you know outdo the scrap
[1:34:50] toner yeah
[1:34:52] and you like stuff you can eat off of
[1:34:53] them
[1:34:55] over here
[1:34:57] i was hungry you haven't met you haven't
[1:34:59] missed many meals
[1:35:00] wow
[1:35:01] wow okay thanks jages last time i'm
[1:35:03] coming here
[1:35:05] at least you're not serving oh you're
[1:35:06] only kale i get it you're really
[1:35:07] catering my uh food prep thank you chad
[1:35:10] i appreciate that all joking aside let's
[1:35:11] move on to our final vehicle vehicle
[1:35:13] number 10 representing germany and uh
[1:35:15] this is owned by mick wenstern and the
[1:35:18] vehicle is called the 2018
[1:35:20] venkstern here we go
[1:35:23] my name is mike bankster we come here as
[1:35:25] norrish
[1:35:26] government
[1:35:28] [Music]
[1:35:54] is
[1:36:12] [Music]
[1:36:29] we're all just sitting here laughing at
[1:36:30] the thing because it just looks it is a
[1:36:32] hot wheels that's 164th already yeah
[1:36:34] our job's done
[1:36:36] well i want to tell you i speak german
[1:36:38] so i understood everything you said okay
[1:36:39] one of the things he said was that this
[1:36:41] has an amazing road holding and it's got
[1:36:44] 13.6 horsepower and it may be enough for
[1:36:47] that smoker he says it's much more tiny
[1:36:49] in reality that it looks there's only
[1:36:51] one sugar i saw it it's smaller i love
[1:36:54] it because it is so ungerman
[1:36:57] it is so values of rust why would you
[1:37:00] send a car to a show with rust on the
[1:37:01] car
[1:37:02] i mean it is so i mean the guy must be
[1:37:05] only half german i don't know what the
[1:37:06] other happened but
[1:37:08] but have some of you so deliberately
[1:37:11] inaccurate and rusty
[1:37:13] it just goes against every german person
[1:37:15] i know because they don't you know if a
[1:37:17] man has no hair why don't you call him
[1:37:19] curly
[1:37:21] i mean it's that yeah it's just oh yeah
[1:37:23] it just
[1:37:24] it's funny and i gotta say as a comedian
[1:37:26] this makes me laugh you pull on the show
[1:37:28] a car show with this i think everybody
[1:37:30] smiles everybody has a good time yeah i
[1:37:32] mean the tongue-in-cheek aspect of it
[1:37:34] and the fact it's from germany really
[1:37:36] makes me laugh because you know there
[1:37:38] are germans going why does that depend
[1:37:39] on things
[1:37:40] that's just not to yeah that's not true
[1:37:42] this is not the amg it's just not yeah
[1:37:44] sarah is that gangster
[1:37:45] yeah
[1:37:48] i don't even know what i'm looking at
[1:37:50] the name is like it's that sauce that
[1:37:52] you can't pronounce that i can't even
[1:37:54] pronounce that
[1:37:55] yeah
[1:37:58] it's cute that's all i have to say cute
[1:38:00] totes adorbs
[1:38:03] he's a trained florist who got into
[1:38:04] wrenching because of his brothers after
[1:38:06] a couple of years oh they are
[1:38:07] just
[1:38:08] you could you could tell alcohol was
[1:38:10] involved in the building
[1:38:12] i'm surprised it doesn't run on alcohol
[1:38:14] just just to keep the theme going yeah
[1:38:16] exactly brian what i can't believe is it
[1:38:18] street legal
[1:38:19] oh not in germany oh my god
[1:38:22] it has planes it's got german plates and
[1:38:24] he says it's street legal he said he got
[1:38:26] really registered too
[1:38:28] what streets in like euro disney i don't
[1:38:30] think that's on the autobahn
[1:38:33] i love this car i mean i think it's fun
[1:38:35] it's shocking we're all up here laughing
[1:38:36] talking about it enjoying it exactly and
[1:38:39] you know kids would or anyone too seeing
[1:38:41] on the on the shelf in stores and just
[1:38:43] the fact that
[1:38:44] you know hot wheels has whimsical stuff
[1:38:46] too and we have for many many years so i
[1:38:48] definitely see a home saw in the line
[1:38:50] there the one thing that would be the
[1:38:52] challenge for us
[1:38:53] at 164 scale all different size vehicles
[1:38:56] get generalized so a semi truck a school
[1:38:59] bus is as small as a go-kart or anything
[1:39:01] else so if you make it proportionately
[1:39:03] as small it's not going to read his
[1:39:05] 164th anymore so you lose the essence of
[1:39:08] it being a small go-kart at 164th i mean
[1:39:12] you can make it a little bit smaller but
[1:39:14] it's a subtle yeah i mean we kind of
[1:39:16] issued that like with the pedal car and
[1:39:17] stuff like that
[1:39:19] yeah we do it to an extent but it's you
[1:39:20] still lose some of that
[1:39:24] well
[1:39:30] aluminum right yeah well
[1:39:32] we do the bears a mac so yeah
[1:39:35] and jay always talks about this still to
[1:39:37] this day hot wheels you know the the the
[1:39:39] classics are 99 cents you can only
[1:39:41] charge forty nine and a half seconds
[1:39:44] you save money half the blister like i
[1:39:46] mean the material is saved on this
[1:39:47] vehicle yeah i mean it has fourteen
[1:39:49] hundred you know fourteen horsepower so
[1:39:50] fourteen
[1:39:51] i digress but it shows you going slow
[1:39:54] could be just as much fun as going fast
[1:39:55] yeah you know going slow and something
[1:39:57] like that driving through town would
[1:39:59] make people smile and laugh so yeah i
