"The title promises a beginner's guide, and the video delivers a solid Q&A with actionable advice, though it's padded with self-promotion and some repetition."

AI Summary

In this video, a sports bettor who claims to have made $250,000 in the past year answers ten of the most common questions about profitable sports betting. He emphasizes that while it is possible to make money long-term, it requires a fundamental shift in mindset from gambling to business, a deep understanding of how sportsbooks price lines, and the use of specialized tools like Odds Jam to find edges.

[00:01]
Claim of Profitability

The speaker claims to have made $250,000 in the last year using profitable sports betting strategies.

[00:29]
Long-Term Profitability is Possible but Difficult

Yes, it's possible to make money long-term, but it's very difficult and requires understanding the foundations: how odds work, how sportsbooks price lines, finding market inefficiencies, and capitalizing on the fragmented market.

[01:52]
Mindset Shift: From Gambling to Business

To be profitable, you must change your mindset from gambling (coin flip, luck) to running a business. You should not care about the outcome of the game, only the numbers and the edge.

[02:17]
Start Small with Dollar Units

The number one tip is to start betting with a dollar per slip to crank out volume and backtest your strategy. A sample size of one is not enough to test a strategy. Once profitable, scale up.

[03:37]
Use Sign-Up Bonuses to Scale

Even with a small bankroll, you can make $10,000+ by signing up to multiple sportsbooks and taking advantage of deposit matches and bonuses. Example: PrizePicks offers a free $100 for new users, so deposit $20 to get the bonus.

[04:47]
Why Most People Lose

Sportsbooks are businesses that price lines meticulously with PhD statisticians and million-dollar algorithms. They bake in a 'vig' (fee) into every line, so even if you win some bets, you lose long-term.

[06:07]
Arbitrage Betting Explained

Arbitrage betting exploits discrepancies between different sportsbooks' prices for the same play. You bet on the middle, and the outcome is irrelevant because you profit no matter what, with little to zero risk.

[07:27]
Positive EV (Expected Value) Explained

Positive EV means beating the market standard price. If you consistently get better prices (e.g., +100 instead of -150), you'll be profitable long-term. It's like buying a product at a discount and reselling it for full price.

[10:36]
You Don't Need to Know Sports

Knowing less about sports can be more profitable because you avoid emotional bias and recency bias. Emotion is the number one factor holding people back. Volume and math are more important than sports knowledge.

[12:38]
Tools: Odds Jam is the Best

Odds Jam is the industry leader, offering tools for arbitrage, positive EV, sharp money, and prediction trading. It scans all major sportsbooks and does everything for you. A 7-day free trial is available.

[14:08]
AI/ChatGPT Can't Pick Winning Bets

A simple ChatGPT prompt cannot beat the multi-million dollar models and algorithms used by sportsbooks. They have access to more data and can adjust faster. Nobody has a crystal ball.

[15:58]
Sportsbooks Will Limit or Ban Winners

Yes, sportsbooks limit winners, regardless of strategy. It's like counting cards at a casino. However, getting limited is a good sign that you're profitable. If you haven't been limited, you're not profitable yet.

[17:34]
Safest Way to Grow Bankroll

Start small, backtest, and gradually increase your unit size. Manage your units properly, don't bet money you're not comfortable losing, and never put your entire paycheck on one wager. Nothing is 100% risk-free.

The video concludes that profitable sports betting is a business, not a gamble, requiring a mathematical mindset, small starts, and the use of AI tools like Odds Jam to find edges. It's a long-term endeavor where limits are a badge of honor, and the key is to manage risk and scale gradually.

[00:01] sports better for about 2 or 3 years. I've made $250,000 just off of the sports books using profitable strategies in the last year. So, in today we're different questions. 10 of the most commonly asked questions

[00:16] betting industry, how we can get started. We're going to be covering a softwares to use. So, if that's something you're interested in and you sports better, I recommend you watch this video. So,

[00:29] actually possible to make money sports betting long term? The short answer is yes, but again, it's very very difficult and not nearly as easy as people make it out to be. Right? Sure, we have all of these tools

[00:44] to help us. Sure, we have Odd Jam to help us and and find out all of these bets. But, you also have to understand the basic foundations of profitable this industry. How are these sports books scamming you essentially? How are

[00:58] you at a disadvantage and how can you play with an edge so that the math equals out in your favor? Right? So, understanding the basics of all of these different strategies, how odds work, how these sports books are pricing their

[01:11] lines, how we can find inefficiencies inside of the market, why the market is so fragmented, and how we can capitalize off of the fragmented market is going to be essential, right? All of these foundations that you need to learn. It's

[01:25] straight to learning trigonometry before you're learning algebra before you learn geometry. There's required steps that you need to take and the process, the learning curve, I would I will admit, it does take a long time. For for the most

[01:39] for the like the average person, it's going to take, just like anything, practice, reps, and a bit of time. It's not just going to happen overnight. Um and another thing with

[01:52] making money sports betting long term, you generally have to change the entire that you think about sports betting. Right, sports betting gets lumped into the category of gambling, a coin flip, it's just luck.

[02:05] And for most people doing parlays and picks, yeah, it is. It's just gambling right? It's not that easy to just generally switch your mindset from I'm gambling to, you know, something like I'm running

[02:17] a business. I all I don't care about the outcome of the game. All I care about is number two, how much money do I need to don't need a lot of money at all. Right, the the number one tip that I

[02:30] know who that is, I mean, what are you doing? Like you're watching this channel, you should know who he is. But the number one tip, um, that that helped scaling, that helped millions of other people

[02:43] have never done this before, even with lower bankrolls, is number one, you need to start betting with like a dollar per slip, if even. Right? You you just do a dollar per slip and you

[02:57] can crank out so much volume to where you can backtest your profitable long-term. Because obviously, you can bet one time and you you'll you can cash a bet, you might not cash the bet.

[03:10] A sample size of one is not nearly large enough to test out a strategy. you're not going to want to be spending $100 units day. Not everybody has that type of money. So, start smaller

[03:24] with a dollar unit size per bet, see if your strategy is profitable, see if you can understand it and master it using the super small units, and then once you see that it is profitable, you scale from there. Right? So, once you

[03:37] start scaling, you might not still have tens of thousands of dollars to deploy on certain strategies. But what you can do is sign up to a lot of different sports books, and you can make easily $10,000 plus, upwards of 10

[03:51] different bonuses and and taking advantage of these promotions. you come out to like Illinois, I can sports book sign up deposit matches is matches bonuses and things like that.

[04:06] So, definitely take advantage of all of these different things. recommend starting off small first and then scaling and putting in more money as you go and see success. Um

[04:19] another thing to add on top of that a huge example, a prime example is I was um this guy just told me that he downloaded PrizePicks for the first time. I I think Alex had a a story like this, too, but he was basically telling

[04:34] me like, "What should I, you know, I'm about to deposit 20 bucks. What should I that I told him was, "Why are you only depositing 20 bucks when you can get a free $100 and it only happens one time? You can deposit 20

[04:47] bucks and that $80 free that you could have had that opportunity cost is gone." Question number three, why do most people lose money betting? It's a great So, every sports book is their own business. All right, I want you to think

[05:00] almost like you're playing blackjack at a casino. it's it's essentially you you don't have an edge because every time they price their lines, every single odd that you see, every single prop that you see

[05:14] meticulously priced by statisticians with PhDs in math. These guys have algorithms, models that are worth millions of dollars that are faster than you, that you've never heard of, that are are deep diving into

[05:29] fatigue, into flight fatigue, into all of these different statistics that you don't have access to. Okay? So, you have to understand the way charging something called the vig. So, this is

[05:42] the fee that the sports books bake into their lines so that even if you think you have the luck of the century, even if you do cash a couple of lays or a couple of plays here and there, you're going to lose long-term.

[05:54] And it's really as simple as that. You're getting charged a fee every single time you place a bet. And long-term, you're going to have You're you're going to lose a ton of money. And you're not going to know it.

[06:07] stuck into. Question number four. What is arbitrage betting and how does it guarantee profit? So, arbitrage betting was my main strategy that got me, you know, these huge numbers, these huge profit

[06:21] months, these $10,000 months off the start. And then once I mastered it, I kind of scaled into, you know, I started layering things like positive EV, sharp action, insider trading, not insider trading.

[06:34] Prediction Insiders, the new Odd Jam tool that came out. But, we're taking advantage of the discrepancies inside of the market So, there's going to be times two different books have different prices

[06:47] for the same play. Right? So, the Warriors versus the Lakers, they could have that match-up priced completely differently. And we're basically just betting on the middle. That middle

[07:00] discrepancy between those two prices is what we're betting on. And essentially, the outcome is irrelevant because we're going to profit no matter what happens. amount like if we were to cash a regular parlay or a regular straight.

[07:13] But, the key idea here is that we're mitigating a ton of risk. Right? Essentially, little to zero risk at all by just taking that, you know, 5 to 10% of that small middle that we're betting on.

[07:27] What does positive EV mean and why is it important? Okay. every single profitable sports betting strategy will relate back to line prices inside of the market. We're comparing them to sharper sports books

[07:41] what the market average is, the line movement, and we're trying to get a better price before the line closes, so we're beating CLV. Positive expected value is beating

[07:53] the market standard price and by just getting better prices and playing at an edge. So, if we can constantly beat CLV, if we can constantly get these prices at an edge in our favor,

[08:08] then over the long term, mathematically, we will end up profitable. Because the idea is this. Let's say there's a prop for minus 150 across the board, but DraftKings has that prop for plus 100.

[08:22] If we were to take that play on on every other book, we would need to put in $150 in order to receive $100 profit. Whereas, if we take it on DraftKings, we only need to bet $100 to sell it for $100 profit.

[08:36] So, imagine long term, you know, there's trader A and trader B, or sports better A, sports better B. Sports better A is taking the minus 150, the market average, and and betting that 100 times,

[08:48] versus the guy that's taking it at plus 100 odds, when the real the real odds, the true odds, are really minus 150. That's the true probability, but we're a 50 cent discount.

[09:02] Right? So, the trader, the sports better that's betting it with the discount, long term is going to be a hell of a ton more profitable than sports better A that's not getting a discount at all.

[09:14] It's like if you're trying to go shopping for something, and and store A has it for 100 bucks, but store B has the exact same thing, exact same Which store are you going to want to buy it at if your goal is to resell for

[09:27] So, that's the whole basis of positive EV. That's the whole basis of of like arbitrage betting. A super easy analogy to imagine it or to picture it

[09:40] right? And and and let's say this coin is is just regular 50/50 odds and we're on heads or tails. Statistically it doesn't matter which one we choose. I could choose heads, you could choose heads. We both have a 50/50

[09:55] chance of winning. Now if we flip the coin four or five times, there's a very very high chance that you could win more times than me or I could win more times same probability. Right? But if we flip it a hundred

[10:08] times, a thousand times, it's going to average out to 50/50 pretty much even. it's rigged and it's 54% chance to land on heads and a 46% chance to land on tails. But you didn't know that it was rigged

[10:21] and I was the one betting against you and choosing heads every single time Again, if we flip it ten times, you still have a high chance of winning way But if we flip it a thousand times, I'm going to have that 4% edge more often

[10:36] So that that's that's what positive EV is. Question number six, do I need to know sports to make money? That's a great question. Um I would say no. I would actually argue that the person that knows less about

[10:52] sports often times can be more profitable than the guy that knows a ton about sports. And this is all due to emotional bias, recency bias, and all of the emotional factors that come into play when trying

[11:05] to be a sports better. Emotion is a number one key or the number one factor that holds a lot of people back from becoming profitable. subconsciously you're going to be trying to bet for your favorite player, bet on

[11:19] your favorite team to do better. Um or you'll have some type of bias, right? When sometimes the odds are going to shift into the favor of a team that you don't like or a player that you don't like. And

[11:33] better is taking advantage of every single edge that you can play. Right? Volume. Volume is king. And And if you can't do that, or if your judgment is clouded because of emotion or because of bias, you're not going to

[11:45] be super profitable. I mean, hockey Let's just say it take this into account, okay? Hockey, um baseball, football. Three of these were my most profitable sports in the last 2 years. And I'm a huge

[11:58] basketball fan. Basketball is arguably one of my least profitable sports to bet obviously still profitable, but I made a ton more money in all of couldn't tell you like I couldn't name 10 people on one team. I

[12:12] mean, I know like I I I pretty much know the sports the ins and outs of the but back then, I wouldn't be able to name, you know, five players on a Um And And I also know guys that are huge successful sports bettors that

[12:25] couldn't tell you what team like uh Steph Curry played on, or or or or ago. So, again, right? It It It's more so about just being able to look at the numbers

[12:38] and understand the math behind things, rather than understanding the actual and like the data behind or or like the ball knowledge behind it, if you will. Number seven, what tools or software do I need to find profitable bets?

[12:57] Jam does everything for you. It's like a a sports better's dream, okay? Every single strategy, every single profitable strategy is basically pioneered by Odds Jam. Um these guys have an arbitrage tool, which

[13:10] finds every single arbitrage opportunity on every major sports book inside of a have a positive EV tool, where we're just scanning different lines and market. We have a sharp money tool, where we're looking for sharp action

[13:23] vig profit x with high liquidity markets. So, we're able to see what the copy them. Prediction traders as well, we're able to leverage Polymarket and Kalshi and and see where a lot of the sharp action

[13:39] their bets on and just make our own judgment and and it it it does everything for you. It's very easy to use. If you want a 7-day can find it through the link in my bio or in the bio of this video. Uh but I do

[13:54] highly recommend it. Before I started making videos, Odds Jam was my tool of never switched to a different one. I've used a bunch of different ones. Odds Jam is by far the best one in the quality, UI,

[14:08] Lead It's a pioneer in the industry. It's industry leader in in in in the best AI tool for sports betting, period. Question number eight, can't I just use AI or ChatGPT to pick winning bets? Um no.

[14:23] bets? Um no. You can use AI to help leverage your workflow, but I wouldn't use it to actually find these bets for you. Um because a simple prompt into ChatGPT,

[14:37] no matter how structured you think that it is, is not multi-million dollar models and algorithms set up by statisticians and mathematicians with PhDs in their

[14:50] Every single line and every single odd is meticulously placed, calculated, and priced. And they have access to all of this data So, when lines change, when markets move,

[15:03] you're not even going to know why for or or I should say these guys know why for a long time before you do. So, they have way longer than you do to adjust, to any slippage inside of their markets, right? To fix any discrepancies, to fix

[15:18] have to be fast with arbitrage betting, with with positive EV betting, because sports books from fixing their mistakes. But again, a simple AI prompt a simple chat GPT prompt is not going to be able to beat those

[15:33] be able to beat those odds makers. Okay? And And again, I hate break your bubble, but nobody has a crystal ball that's going to tell you there's favorites. Sure, there's underdogs. Sure, there's stats. Sure,

[15:45] there's matchups. Again, none of that matters because of how these odds are priced and the fees that are baked into every single line. was. That's what the sports books want you to think.

[15:58] It was about being able to price these correctly so that the outcome of the game, the outcome of the bet is completely irrelevant. Question number nine, will sports books limit or ban me if I win too much? Yes. And And that's

[16:13] the most profitable industries inside of the whole gambling community because these sports books they have the opportunity to cut down your bet size whenever they want. It's the same thing as counting cards at a casino.

[16:28] These guys are watching people to see if they if if they have an advantage if have a a strategy that gives them an edge. And once they find that winning consistently, they're going to back you off. It's a business just like

[16:41] everything else. But I also wouldn't be scared of limits. I I wouldn't use limits as a reason to not start profitable sports betting because a common misconception is that these profitable strategies are what leads to

[16:53] limits. No. Sports books they limit winners. It doesn't matter what strategy you're using. Okay? I know guys that are are lucky, that are super of parlays that are straight degenerates that get limited. It was never about the

[17:08] strategy. It was about that about you winning consistently, and that's what So, I'd argue that if you haven't seen limits yet, you're not very profitable, and you're not going to be profitable if you continue to to

[17:21] operate the way that you're operating. And I would actually encourage you to look at limits as a good thing that that okay, I'm actually making money off of the sports books, and I'm actually in the top 3% of sports bettors. You know,

[17:34] obviously in an industry where 97% lose. Finally, question number 10, what's the safest way to grow my bankroll? I'm going to refer back to what I your bankroll is to start small, backtest your strategy, see success, and

[17:48] gradually up your unit size, increase your your your betting bankroll, and stuff like that. Obviously, reallocating a bunch of the profits back into your bankroll and dispersing them across different sports

[18:01] the more opportunities you're going to have to grow your bankroll. The more opportunities you're going to have to find these fragments in the market, to find discounts, to find and execute on promotions and bonus bets, and a bunch

[18:15] sports books give their existing and new users. So, the safest way to grow your bankroll is to manage your units properly. Don't lose, no matter what strategy you're using, even if it claims to be

[18:28] risk-free. There's always something that can happen where you might be at risk of losing your money. And if you aren't comfortable losing that amount of money, don't gamble it. Don't bet it. Because at the end of the day, nothing is 100%

[18:43] And you should be smart enough to understand that you shouldn't be putting your entire paycheck on one parlay, on one wager. Because if you have the urge to do that, I would argue that you have different

[18:57] become a profitable sports better. So, again, that was 10 of the most profitable sports betting. I hope you guys learned something from that. And if deep dive into all of these different strategies, and learn how me and my

[19:11] students are crushing the sports books even through limits, even with account restrictions and things like that. Follow me on all of my social medias at Choicooks on all platforms at ChoicooksPOV on YouTube and follow and

[19:24] subscribe to Odd Jam because you guys will not be profitable without types of lines. You can't do it yourself. You can't do it with the naked because again, we're competing against sports books, against multi-million

[19:39] dollar businesses, a billion dollar industry. We need AI to help find and locate these edges so we can execute on them. If you want a 7-day free trial to inside the bio. With that being said guys, I love you guys a ton. Like this

[19:53] you have and I will see you guys in the next one. Peace out.
