This video recaps a 30-day trading challenge using the Tokyo Range Breakout strategy, detailing each trade setup from the final week, including wins, losses, and skipped trades. The creator explains the simple rule-based approach and reports the overall profit results, emphasizing the strategy's effectiveness and the importance of discipline.
The creator introduces the video as a recap of the final week of a 30-day Tokyo Range breakout trading challenge, covering every setup and how the week ended.
On Monday, October 19th, the trade initially went against them, but after a retracement, the creator adjusted the stop loss below the fib 618 level. Price then hit take profit, adding 2% to the account.
Tuesday's Tokyo range did not break out for over 2 hours, and the creator decided to skip the trade due to low volatility and volume. They noted that good breakouts usually happen closer to the end of the range. The eventual downside break was missed, but no money was lost.
On Wednesday, October 21st, the trade immediately went against them and hit the stop loss, resulting in a -1% loss. The creator noted this happens.
Thursday's price was flat for two hours, and the creator advised against trading, citing a week of gross flat consolidating price with overlapping Tokyo ranges. A breakout occurred 4 hours later with zero drawdown, but it was a missed opportunity.
Friday's trade had virtually zero drawdown. The creator closed early at a 1:1.5 risk-to-reward ratio, citing an oversold RSI of 17 and caution about a potential V-shaped recovery. The trade eventually hit the 2R take profit target.
The first three weeks ended at 6% profit. This week added +2% (Monday), -1% (Wednesday), and +1.5% or +2% (Friday), totaling either 8.5% or 9% profit for the 30-day challenge.
The strategy is described as the simplest possible: if price breaks out below, sell; if above, buy. The stop loss is half the Tokyo range, and the take profit is the full range. For example, an 18-pip range means a 9-pip stop loss and an 18-pip target.
The creator promotes FunderPro, offering a $1,000 funded account challenge for $1 using the code TRI1 at funpro.com/tma.
The 30-day Tokyo Range Breakout challenge was a success, ending with an 8.5% to 9% profit. The strategy's simplicity and the discipline to skip low-quality setups were key to the positive outcome.
Challenge Ends in Profit
The final 8.5-9% profit validates the strategy's effectiveness over a month of real trading.
03:38Simplicity of the Strategy
The one-rule approach (breakout direction) makes it accessible to beginners and easy to execute.
04:08Discipline to Skip Trades
Choosing not to trade on low-volatility days prevented losses and is a key principle for consistent profitability.
00:59Early Close on Friday
Closing early at 1.5R due to oversold conditions shows risk management and adaptability, even if it meant missing the full 2R target.
02:37[00:02] almost every single day on my Telegram group, giving people a Tokyo range group, giving people a Tokyo range breakout trade setup. Today was the last day of this 30-day challenge. In this video, I'm going to recap the entire
[00:14] week, every single setup, how I played it, and how we ended the 30-day challenge. So, let's get into it. All Wednesday, Thursday, and today, Friday's trade. Zooming into Monday, October
[00:28] 19th. Here is a screenshot of the trade setup that I put on Telegram. Price went immediately started going against us. Once it started retracing, I posted this Tokyo range is quite small and I don't like that the stop loss is below the fib
[00:43] level 618. So, for this trade, I'm going to adjust the stop loss to the pink minutes, once it hit that fib retracement, price tanked, hit our takerit, and gave us an additional 2% on the account. On Tuesday's setup, the
[00:59] Tokyo range did not break out for over 2 hours, and I didn't like the low volatility and low volume when I expect larger breakouts sooner with this specific strategy. So on Tuesday, I said not much activity today. We should have
[01:13] seen a decent move already. So I think we can go ahead and skip today. Good breakouts usually happen closer to the end of the Tokyo range. This is just from here. We did eventually get a break to the downside, but because we decided
[01:26] not to trade today, we didn't lose any money. And if you listen to what I said on Telegram, you probably cleaned your office, did some yard work, rad some leaves, or went to the mechanic cuz we got life stuff outside of trading. Next
[01:40] trade, October 21st, Wednesday, immediately went against us and stopped immediately went against us and stopped us out. It happens. minus 1%. On Thursday, October 22nd, again, price was just flat for like two hours. And I
[01:54] said, "No breakout trade today. This whole week has been a gross flat consolidating price because if you looked at it, every single Tokyo range was basically overlapping each other. It was constantly consolidating." And wow,
[02:10] that last one was bad. But literally if I keep my cursor here, every single day price touched this line. So I suggested people don't trade this day. But people don't trade this day. But eventually almost 4 hours later we did
[02:23] get the breakout. It immediately went to take profit with zero draw down. Unfortunately a missed opportunity, but I didn't trust the move anyway. And then today, Friday, October 23rd, again, virtually zero drawd down on this trade.
[02:37] It was absolutely fantastic. And the reason I have two position tools on here is because once price got down to here within 15 minutes, I sent a message out to the Telegram group saying you should be up 1.5x your risk right now and we're
[02:54] extremely oversold. Like the RSI got down to 17. I also said I don't know if it'll hit take profit. I'm being cautious and I closed early. This is at a 1:1.5 risk-to-reward ratio versus the 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio that we were
[03:11] targeting. I also added a caveat. I said this has been a massive straight down move, virtually zero draw down. I like it because it gets me into profit fast, the retracement can be just as
[03:24] aggressive as the drop that happens. They're called V-shaped recoveries. This trade eventually did go to take profit. So either you closed here at 1.5R or you So either you closed here at 1.5R or you closed here at 2R. So as it stands right
[03:38] now, the first three weeks we ended at 6% profit and then this week, Monday 6% profit and then this week, Monday plus 2%, Tuesday no trade. Wednesday a loss, so minus 1%, Thursday no trade, and Friday if you closed 1.5 or 2%. So
[03:53] you listen to everything that I said on Telegram. either up 8.5% or up 9%. This was a massive success and I'm so glad because this was me teaching you the
[04:08] because this was me teaching you the most simplest breakout strategy that I could possibly think of. You literally have one rule. If price breaks out below, you sell. If price breaks out above, you buy. The parameters for your
[04:24] trade, you measure the entire Tokyo range. you divide it by two and that is range. you divide it by two and that is your stop loss. So once you get a candle closure below the range, your stop loss goes from that market entry trade up
[04:39] half the value of the range. So for this one, it was 18 pips. So your stop loss would have been 9 pips and then you're targeting 18 pips. It can't get any simpler than this. And for the last month, we proved that it works and you
[04:53] could have almost passed a funded account challenge with this. Just really quickly, FunderPro, if you go to funpro.com/tma, you can buy a $1,000 funded account challenge for $1. Use the code TRI1. Try
[05:07] one, you know, like go and try one. I'd really like to know in the comment section if you personally participated in this challenge. If you did, let me know how it went. I want to know if you made money, if you liked it, if you were
[05:21] stressed out, if you lost money, did you follow what I said on Telegram? Tell me everything. I really want to know. I'm so happy this month ended out in profit and I'm so happy for everybody that was involved. Thank you so much for
[05:33] watching, guys. I really appreciate you and we will see you in the next
