The video outlines essential skills for new YouTubers to grow their channels, covering presentation, communication, editing, analytics, consistency, branding, storytelling, networking, and financial management. The creator emphasizes the importance of these skills for building a successful YouTube presence.
The first and most important skill is learning how to present content. Without engaging communication, nothing will happen, regardless of content quality.
You don't need to be a pro, but understanding basics like the rule of thirds and headspace improves video quality. Position yourself in the frame with eye line above the top third.
Good audio is crucial; poor sound distracts viewers. It also enhances camera presence. Lighting is also important for clear visibility.
Editing is about creating an experience, not just cutting. Use B-roll, music, and pacing to build tension or slow down for effect. Remove sections to improve viewer experience.
Keeping viewers engaged is vital. Be intentional with each video, plan content that relates to previous videos, and consider the end screen to guide viewers to more content.
Pay attention to audience retention and traffic sources reports. Understand how viewers respond to thumbnails and titles, and track returning vs. new viewers.
Treat content creation like a job. Schedule creation time, research ideas, and publish regularly to build a habit and grow the channel.
Branding includes your content style, editing, opinions, and what you publicly stand for. It's deeper than just a logo.
Storytelling can make content engaging even without custom thumbnails. It's a skill that helps retain viewers and build a loyal audience.
Networking with other creators opens doors, provides support, and helps you stay on track. Share learnings and collaborate.

11:53[00:00] I go there so that I can look to help you fix the things that you're doing wrong. if they could just tweak a few things.
[00:13] I put together a list of the most important skills The first, is learning how to present your content. However, if you don't know how to communicate
[00:28] guess what's gonna happen? Nothing. cooking videos, vlogs, teaching people stuff. if you can't communicate in an engaging or interesting way,
[00:41] In fact, communication is such a big skill related to people just doing voiceovers. they hire real actors to voice their cartoons,
[00:54] And most importantly, as it relates to you and I, that is filled with excellent communicators. and we have to be mindful of how we're communicating.
[01:09] He can help you better understand and some other helpful things for you in the description. will help you do better on YouTube.
[01:22] you don't have to go out but you do need to understand some bare bone basics For example, when you're making your videos,
[01:35] For example, if I'm down here in the frame like this, or there's all this extra space over here But if I'm here, or here, or even here,
[01:50] everything is balanced a little bit better, To help with this, you can watch content The rule of thirds is where you divide the frame
[02:03] You position yourself in the frame, Another tip that isn't necessarily part that you have some headspace,
[02:15] but not too much headspace. and how things look and so on. in order to fill the frame up
[02:28] my eye line needs to be a little bit above that top third, But if I was zoomed in, or pretty close to it.
[02:41] It doesn't have to be the best, And it's also important as part of good sound that would cause people to be distracted
[02:56] Good audio will also help with your camera presence compared to them hearing you like you're, Lighting yourself, or if you're not in the videos,
[03:09] to where people can clearly see you or the subject technically you can use the sun and down in the video description,
[03:23] a better handle on lighting as well if you need it. - Dude, come on, anybody can edit a video. There is a huge difference
[03:37] and editing videos. But anyway, cutting videos maybe you make a little bit of corrections
[03:50] and then maybe you'll add some B-roll maybe you'll even have some music playing in the background. Editing is about creating an experience with your content.
[04:05] in order to create some tension You might remove an entire section of your video just so you can make it a better experience for the viewer.
[04:18] and as the buildup happens, or the climax of the game, or maybe the big reveal of that craft project
[04:32] Or you might slow things down a little bit, cut less, intentionally leaving it in the video You get the idea.
[04:46] that you learn how to edit. On YouTube, keeping viewers engaged is extremely important, I mean having people interact with your content,
[05:00] and then they come back to the channel and they watch more, to be intentional about what it is that you're doing. the reason that you're publishing those videos.
[05:13] with each individual video, that's important. if I'm publishing this video here, that's going to relate to this video that I publish
[05:27] And it's also important to zoom out over time you build up this huge library of content, and I get 'em to the end of this video,
[05:42] once they get to the end of the video?" a much better experience for the viewers when you publish content that they care about.
[05:55] So, for example, as part of your content planning, for YouTube's recommendation system. And when you know that as part of your content planning
[06:10] and it doesn't do great out of the gate, And that approach is better and it ended up as a 10 out of 10
[06:23] just stop paying attention to it. but sometimes you'll publish a 10 out of 10, So, keep that in mind.
[06:36] at least at a basic level. what's happening on your channel is go in and start paying attention
[06:49] you can do this through your audience retention reports. are responding to your thumbnails and titles. through your traffic sources report,
[07:01] meaning the different pages of YouTube. that you're looking at the content And it's important to know for the sake of growth
[07:15] how much people are coming back to your channel and how many new viewers are interacting with your channel, But if you go into your YouTube analytics
[07:27] and it can help you grow faster, and it can just help you do better overall. if you're gonna do this for a long period of time,
[07:40] as it relates to working YouTube in order to make content, and especially for somebody that wants to do this full-time,
[07:55] researching those video ideas, publishing that content onto YouTube so that it can not only become something
[08:07] but it can become a habit that will keep you moving forward and as a channel overall. to make the jump from a casual creator
[08:21] of creating content into their calendar. what it is that they need to do in order to get it done, and they make it as important as showing up to a job,
[08:35] so that they can ensure that they get it done. a lot of people think that branding is just a logo but branding is a lot deeper than that.
[08:47] is branding is what you are doing in your content about what it is that you do, it's your editing style,
[08:59] It's your strong opinions or your lack of opinions. it's what your videos sound like. that you've made publicly known
[09:13] the things that you like or don't like. that can help you as a content creator grow your channel it's important to learn about branding
[09:26] to give you deeper insights on this one. and you'll hear everybody recommend this book The other is, "Superfans," by Pat Flynn.
[09:39] that have grown cult-like followings, to how things are currently on social media But read or listen to them both,
[09:53] Next, is storytelling. you're teaching people things. Some people even say that storytelling
[10:05] because there are a lot of creators out there to where they don't even use custom thumbnails, but because they're good at telling stories,
[10:19] that are super into what it is that they're doing. because I don't wanna tell you stories. so that you can take that information,
[10:31] or start learning a new tool But it's also something I'm working on, so that I can use that type of thing
[10:46] the nuance of all of this creator-related stuff. But there's a book On the initial call that I had with my coach,
[10:59] But that would be a great place for you to start And if you're a new content creator, is gonna help you thrive much stronger in the future.
[11:12] can be really helpful for you as a content creator. meaning that you're doing all of these things yourself. I'll put a link to that down in the description.
[11:26] But when you start networking with other creators, then it starts opening the doors who are living a similar experience to you
[11:39] that are doing similar things that you are. they can help you notice if you go off track somewhere, You can share things that you learn along the way,
[11:53] And networking as a content creator, is from my experience, and they're doing cool stuff,
[12:05] they might think about you Next, is money management and just general business sense. is set to be an $18 billion industry.
[12:21] That does not include ad revenue. It doesn't include any of the extras It is a reality that if you take this seriously,
[12:34] and you can have life-changing amounts of income In fact, you know the old thing where parents are like, I want my kid to grow up and be a lawyer."
[12:48] are stopping being doctors and lawyers, That's how big the opportunity is here or really from anything,
[13:00] that it's going to always be there And it might last a really, really long time, And because of that, it's important to educate yourself
[13:12] and figuring out what to do with that money as it comes in. it's important to know this information. an extra several hundred thousand dollars a year,
[13:27] even an extra $50 or $100 thousand per year, It's called "Simple Path to Wealth," by JL Collins. and it can help you get a handle on what to do
[13:42] so that you can use your experience as a content creator And if you are somebody that's like, so that I could do stuff with it in the future,"
[13:56] how you can start making extra money and I'll see you in that video. Thanks for watching.
