[00:16] in, and they save you hours and hours every single week. And these are getting better at a crazy pace. Every single year they're making huge strides forward. So this is the Sunseeker Elite X7 Plus Gen 2. It's a long name, I know,
[00:30] but this has been my robot mower since the snow melted about a month and a half ago. It has yet to get lost or stuck anywhere. It runs autonomously every it. And because your lawn is pretty much a perfect height every day, I swear you
[00:43] honestly start to wonder if the grass is even growing. But it is, this is just video is sponsored by Sunseeker. So to avoid conflict of interest, I want to show you what this mower can do with real results from my lawn. We'll do some
[00:57] design, the specs, and everything you need to know about the mower so you can make the decision for yourself if this is the right one for you. So before getting started, some key specs for this mower. Cutting height can be adjusted
[01:09] anywhere from 0.8 up to 4 in. The plus model is rated for 1.5 acres, but they have a half acre and 3/4 acre model as well. And this can mow daytime or night time. The slope is rated for up to 70% or 35° and remember I said the
[01:25] the deck was adjustable? There's electronic height adjustment for that. it'll cut whatever height you ask it to. As far as setup goes, setup was easy. After you plug in the RTK tower and the charging base, you can download the
[01:38] Sunseeker app. Mapping was better than most other mowers I've tried for two reasons. I'll show you those in a second, but you can either auto map or manually map. And I appreciate that I can auto map and then seamlessly toggle
[01:50] over to manual mapping when I get to trickier spots or patches of dead grass for example. Manual mapping uses your phone like a game controller. You basically have two joysticks, so it's very intuitive to drive and steer it.
[02:02] really liked. One was the ability to mark cross boundary zones. This means the robot will mow on the line. Think about sidewalks or your driveway or to be weed whacking that. Like, it's okay if it drives over a little bit
[02:16] further, we can mark that on the map. And the second great feature is the straight line feature. When driving along a building or a fence or anything just so much easier to mark the beginning and the end, and this removes
[02:31] error or anything like that. You really genuinely have a much better performance then. And after mapping the perimeter, you can map what they call no-go zones. islands within the zone that you don't
[02:45] want the mower. Think about flowerbeds, ponds, fruit trees, things like that. connect them with different pathways. They don't all have to be seamless. So, honestly, you and your neighbor could go
[02:57] in halvesies on this and split it. As far as the design goes, looking at this, mower, but it has a little trick up its sleeve. The blades are small, sort of disc on the bottom. You see, we have two discs down there, and the idea is that
[03:11] if it hits like a rock or a stick or something, it's not going to break the backwards and retracts, and the mower keeps on going. It really won't be obstacle avoidance later, but it's a feature that's built into a lot of robot
[03:25] mowers. The mower is also surprisingly light. There's a handle on the end, so anywhere else, uh you can pick it up and carry it fairly easily. You have a display on the top with buttons and an emergency stop. Uh so, all of that, you
[03:38] having the buttons on there, just in case somebody else walks along and needs there. And you have these two large wheels, which by the way, there's a cool driving anywhere that might be wet or
[03:52] clogged up, uh there's an optional brush you can mount in there to clean the wheels off continuously, but you also have a third wheel in the back. So, unlike most mowers that just have like a little caster that just drags in the
[04:04] back, this is motorized. So, it helps it with steering or driving on hills or any about the first cut with this mower. Before you get started, you want to make it's like 6-in grass, go out and mow it first so you have it approximately the
[04:18] height that you'd want to. If it's 4 in, that's fine, and over the next week you can gradually bring it down to, you know, 2 and 1/2 in if you want that, but maintaining shorter grass, not for cutting a huge hay field. The first cut,
[04:31] in my opinion, it did an excellent job. I had nice straight lines. You could see you can adjust what the lines are looking like in the app. And there's four real reasons I found that this is so much better than mowing by hand. One,
[04:44] mentioned earlier. Instead of it cutting off like a third of the plant every single time you mow, this is cutting off a tiny fraction, which gives you healthier and more resilient grass. Number two, your grass looks good every
[04:56] of the video, you don't even know that this is doing anything. It's essentially silent. Number three, a lighter mower like this does far less damage than like have wet spots. And number four, this thing is almost silent. Like unless
[05:10] won't hear it. Your neighbors are going to love that you don't have an engine running, you know, every couple days, and also autonomy. Next chapter is autonomy. So, how good is this at being actually autonomous? First, you have
[05:23] to keep your lawn as clear as you can, but, you know, sometimes branches fall or your kids leave toys out there, and this is able to avoid obstacles. We'll it with the cameras on there in two selectable ways you can choose from the
[05:37] app, either slow touch or no touch. We'll talk more about that in a minute. Also, as far as like navigating, most other mowers I've tried that use RTK stations like this. Most other ones consistently get lost next to my house.
[05:51] know, there's tall fences and it just always loses signal. But, this mower has yet to get lost there. It has never lost its spot and I think that's really very here we are in the app. This is very intuitive in my opinion. So, you've got
[06:05] the entire region. You can see the red spots are the keep out or the no-go zones. You're able to see like the work log. You've got the schedule here as well. So, when I have this allowed to mow it's mowing every single day for me.
[06:17] It gives us a couple, you know, settings down here like mower speed, the blade speed, and or so mowing speed is like how fast it's moving. Blade speed is obviously and then the height. But, you can change all of that. So, that's just
[06:29] if you want to change everything on the top right with that settings icon, you So, you've got like a PIN code on there, some anti-theft stuff. But, for work, again, you can edit the map here. You can change everything I just showed you
[06:43] driving. And also, while you're driving it around, you can change the exact pace do your manual mapping. You've got the cutting spacing. So, do you want it it's going to cut everything a little bit less. You've got the direction. So,
[06:57] default is going to be nice straight lines. You can make it traceless. You multi-angle, I'm in the studio now, so I'm not near the mower. But, uh if you do multi-angle, you can choose exactly what
[07:09] you can make really nice patterns on there. Um and of course, the cutting then This is a really cool efficiency thing that I don't see on many other mowers. How often is it going to cut the perimeter? So, you don't have to do that
[07:22] every single time because that really does take a lot of energy or a lot of that. You could have it do it every time if you wanted to, but honestly, the grass on the perimeter doesn't grow all that quickly for me. So, I have it go
[07:35] faster and more efficient. You can also choose when it's mowing. Is it going going do the perimeter first or is it going to mow first in the middle and choose what the edge distance is. So, it's going to naturally have a boundary
[07:47] around there, just in case you have some slight deviation in like the signal or usually, you know, you can make this as close as you want to the border. But, if there, you're like, "Well, just in case the flowers like tilt over, um I like to
[08:01] obstacle avoidance, you can see we have slow touch or no touch. So, depending on how you want that set up, you can choose the docking path, which is like, "Hey, base." Or, "Go along the edge so you don't mess up the nice straight lines
[08:13] you get." Rain delay, as I mentioned, and you can work at night as well. So, get into some other tests. I'm going to manually drive it up some hills and see how it performs. Um but, overall, very intuitive and one of the better apps
[08:26] I've seen for robot mowers. So, now let's get into some testing so you can see what this mower is actually capable of. Starting off with a hill climb test. grass has not been cut yet, but I'm just driving it over here to see how well
[08:40] if it can make it. This is very steep. Maybe I'll measure for you very steep. Maybe I'll measure for you guys so you can see, but this is like This would be annoying to mow even with a push mower.
[09:06] up this. This is incredibly steep. It's not even slipping. It can drive up and back. No problem at all. Even though the grass It's not even optimal conditions right now. Let's try a steeper spot. All
[09:20] right, now this is absolute worst-case scenario. Really tall grass, wet sand it. This would even like you would not even want to mow this with a push mower. See what it does. Wow, that that is actually so
[09:34] I don't It's really hard to see just how steep this actually is, but that that is like a cliff right there it's driving up. You drive backwards, no problem. Start from the hill.
[09:48] Again, no problem. Yeah, this thing crushes it on hills. I've seen a lot of robot mowers. I've seen very few that could do as well as this. Let's turn it over here.
[10:05] problem at all. All right. Now, this is like absolute final boss. This thing is definitely like this hill here, it's hard to tell on camera, but let's see how it makes it up here. I think you'll see once I'm driving it up.
[10:17] This is final boss. This is like 90°. No way. No way. That is definitely like look at that. That is definitely steeper than what it's supposed to be able to do. Now, let's put out some
[10:31] to avoid them. All right. So, obstacle avoidance test number one, I've got a throw something else in there, too. I'm going to start and see Right now it's in to it and drive around it. Let's see how it does. Oh, it looks like it saw it.
[11:02] continue in its line. Okay, what's it doing?
[11:15] successful. It did avoid it. Now, it sees the second object. It's driving Okay, and that's much lower to the ground. So, that's a lot harder to detect than a cooler. But, yeah. Okay, detected that as well.
[11:29] Next test is a flower pot. Looks like it identified that and it's Looks like it identified that and it's driving around it. zones, if it's something like a fence, it's going to figure it
[11:43] it seems like it should avoid most things. And one really interesting thing to me is the night time mowing capabilities. This can mow while you sleep. So, you wake up and your lawn is totally clear. It's mowed and honestly,
[11:56] let's see how it performs if I start a job at night. All right. So, this is mower. This is going to be some really grainy footage cuz it's obviously very But, it looks like it has some headlights.
[12:10] And yeah, just knows where it is. with obstacle avoidance. It's supposed to be able to avoid obstacles even in the dark thanks to the headlight. I've got my wheelbarrow right there.
[12:25] And it looks like it detected it. Going right along the edge. Checking out that spot. It's going to maybe Okay, knows it can't go out of bounds there. Backs up. It's going to turn around.
[12:45] mean, the video is going to be really grainy, but it is quite dark out right now. The sun set probably at least 40 minutes ago. Now, personally, I still prefer to have it mow in the daytime. The grass is dry.
[12:58] everything, but it's nice to see that is an option. And speaking of night time mowing, now is a good time to discuss scheduling. So, scheduling with this mower. You can set this up and the mower is fully autonomous. It'll cut during
[13:10] it'll go back and charge whenever the battery might die. It has a headlight on the front as you saw. So, if you enable night mowing, it can do that as well. The mower also knows when it rains and automatically engages a rain delay if
[13:23] and then mow it once the grass is dry again. And as far as safety goes, there a tilt sensor in case it gets picked up or something, it won't be spinning blades and hurting people. You have obstacle avoidance. You have those razor
[13:36] before. You have an emergency stop button. And you have 2 years of anti-theft included for free when you buy the mower. So, that is the Sunseeker Elite X7 Plus Gen 2 robot mower. Honestly, at first I thought it was just
[13:49] a regular two-wheel drive mower, but it actually does a much better job at not getting stuck, not getting lost, and genuinely working autonomously than I even expected. So, if you're interested in getting one for yourself, I have a
