[01:39] The concept here is that if we can support these systems early and maintain that youthful flexibility, we can potentially preserve resilience across the entire body. In this trial, the researchers weren't

[01:52] looking at sick patients. They were looking at healthy adults aged 40 and older to see if they could actually move the needle on these fundamental markers. To evaluate the impact of the formulation, the researchers conducted a

[02:07] randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The duration was 6 months. The participants were 61 healthy adults The participants were 61 healthy adults age 40 or older. 33 in the intervention

[03:57] This is important as the two measures are showing different things. The first, after 1 hour, shows the immediate impact of the supplement while it's still in The second set of measurements were taken after most, if not all of the

[04:13] supplement was out of the system and so was showing more permanent changes that had happened over the 6 months. How long these changes will last after the supplement is stopped is not covered in this trial.

[04:26] With that said, let's look at the statistical significant improvements statistical significant improvements observed over the 6-month period. First is flow-mediated dilation or FMD. This measures how well your blood

[04:39] vessels can widen in response to blood flow and is measured as a percentage. This percentage represents how much the vessels dilate under a stimulus. The results in the paper are absolute changes in FMD, not percentage changes

[04:56] in the baseline value. After 1 hour, they saw a 3.6% increase. And after the 6 months, the study observed a +2.9% improvement compared to

[05:08] the placebo group. For reference, the original baseline FMD was around 5.5%. So, this change represents about a 47% difference. To put that in perspective, a 1% increase in FMD is often associated in

[05:24] literature with a significant reduction in cardiovascular risk. The researchers noted that these results were two or three times greater than what is typically reported for a single intervention like beetroot juice, cocoa

[05:36] flavanols, or tea polyphenols. In fact, this magnitude of improvement rivaled the effects typically seen in training.

[05:48] The marker is pulse wave velocity or PWV. This is essentially a measure of how stiff or flexible your arteries are. The 1-hour measure in the treatment group showed a drop of 0.78 m/s. While

[06:29] And is more comparable to the effects seen with intensive exercise or significant weight loss. Finally, the study tracked systolic blood pressure. At the 1-hour they saw a decrease of 4.8

[06:44] mm of mercury in the intervention group, while the placebo increased by 5.5 mm of mercury. Giving a difference of 9.9. It is not clear why the placebo group saw an increase in blood pressure over

[06:59] But the intervention group in any case saw an absolute decrease. At the 6-month mark, the intervention had a reduction of 8.5 mm of mercury. And the placebo had a decrease of 1.5, leaving a placebo-adjusted reduction of

[07:16] 6.1. What is particularly interesting here is that these participants were already in the normal range. They didn't have clinical hypertension. Seeing a drop of 6 mm of mercury in a healthy population

[07:29] is rare. It outperformed the typical result seen with magnesium supplementation, sodium reduction, or even high-intensity interval training. One of the most striking aspects of these results is that all three of these

[07:42] vascular markers, function, stiffness, and pressure improve simultaneously. In clinical research, it's highly unusual to see a single nutritional intervention move the needle on all three of these metrics at once.

[07:55] So, why did this coordinated shift happen? The researchers suggest it's because vascular aging is a multi-pathway problem. It isn't driven by just one factor. It's a combination of oxidative stress, chronic low-grade

[08:08] inflammation, and a decline in mitochondrial function within the endothelial cells. Because the formulation was designed to address these upstream biological hallmarks of the same time, it appears

[08:20] to create a synergistic effect that a single ingredient can't match. There is also an important detail regarding lipids. The study found that these vascular benefits occurred without any significant changes in cholesterol

[08:34] or lipid levels. This is a key finding because it suggests that the improvements weren't just a side effect of lowering cholesterol. Instead, the of lowering cholesterol. Instead, the data indicates that the formulation is

[08:46] working directly on the vascular mechanisms themselves, improving the health and responsiveness of the arterial walls from the inside out. It's a direct intervention in the biology of the blood vessels rather than

[08:58] a modification of metabolic markers like LDL. So, what does this all mean? As noted at the beginning, this is a preprint, so it's not peer-reviewed at this point. It's also quite a small

[09:10] study with around 60 participants. I think it's great to see concrete, while acknowledging the obvious companies which are willing to invest in third-party research to test the

[09:24] efficacy of their products. I also like the multi-supplement approach. However, I want to be very clear about where this fits into the bigger picture. My philosophy has always been that

[09:36] lifestyle comes first. Sleep, nutrition, and consistent movement are the foundations. Small molecules and supplements can help, but they are optimizers. They're not going to make a massive difference. Also, no supplement

[09:50] is going to be a magic pill. I think at the most it will make an incremental improvement. Not that this should be trivialized. Anything that helps extend health span is worth considering. What I do believe

[10:03] is that aging, as currently understood, is multifactorial. Because it's not just one thing going wrong. A multi-supplement strategy that addresses several biological hallmarks at once simply makes more scientific sense to me
