6:54[00:00] Shiftup CEO, the creator of Stellar
[00:01] Blade, made a public response in
[00:03] interview with IGN about the character
[00:06] design of Eve and how they will not be
[00:08] censoring the character design and that
[00:10] Eve's outfits will even be more
[00:11] appealing than Eve's design in the
[00:14] original Stellar Blade game. Can I get a
[00:16] based in the comments by the way? Like
[00:18] I'm so freaking happy that the CEO just
[00:22] straight out went on to an interview
[00:24] with IGN and said, "Look, I have seen
[00:27] your hit pieces. I know people are
[00:29] upset, but I do not care." Like I am so
[00:32] happy that a CEO is standing their
[00:34] ground, not bending the knee, and they
[00:36] are even making public statements in
[00:38] interviews saying, "Nah, we are not
[00:41] censoring. We're not listening to you
[00:42] guys crying about this character saying
[00:44] the character is a kid when the
[00:45] character is far removed from being a
[00:47] kid." I am so happy to see that the CEO
[00:50] is not budging on this and not giving a
[00:52] rat's ass about what these hit pieces
[00:54] are having to say. Because after this
[00:55] public interview that was made late last
[00:57] night, Kotaku and a few other
[00:59] journalists have decided to start making
[01:01] hit pieces about Stellar Blade Blood
[01:03] Rain and trying any way they can to
[01:04] slander this game and make sure that
[01:06] this game never sees the light of day.
[01:08] Like let's go down to the very last
[01:09] statement here on what the Kotaku game
[01:11] journalist had to say about Stellar
[01:13] Blade Blood Rain after this interview of
[01:15] the CEO clarifying about the character
[01:17] design.
[01:18] So Kim is the CEO. Kim did however talk
[01:21] about the new outfits that will be
[01:22] available for Eve in Stellar Blade Blood
[01:24] Rain. And the quotation was what the CEO
[01:26] said, "It will be even more appealing.
[01:28] That's all we can say." And then
[01:30] Kotaku's game journalist responds with,
[01:31] "Good lord, I hope more appealing
[01:34] doesn't mean what I think it means in
[01:35] this context. The jiggle physics
[01:37] presented in the reveal trailer were
[01:39] disturbing enough. Thank you very much."
[01:43] They are scared of jiggle physics. Like
[01:45] we have reached the point now to where
[01:47] we have now shifted the goal post of
[01:49] like, "Okay, so Eve is a kid. Like her
[01:52] face is too young looking. She's an
[01:54] Asian. We can't have the games or
[01:55] anything. They're deemed problematic
[01:57] now." That's what these journalists are
[01:58] trying to do and a lot of people and
[01:59] content creators are trying to say. And
[02:01] now they're trying to attack the angle
[02:03] of jiggle physics. So, okay. So, you you
[02:06] you you see the character having like
[02:08] like jiggle going on all over her body
[02:10] and suddenly your mind instantly
[02:12] gravitates towards she's too young. Like
[02:14] there's some weird stuff going on and
[02:15] I'm just going to say if you're having
[02:17] this thought and you're seeing like
[02:17] basically a real living being and a kid
[02:20] in this image, you need professional
[02:21] help. I've already said this before but
[02:23] I want to reiterate this because you
[02:24] need professional help, especially when
[02:26] it's very clear that even Kotaku's game
[02:28] journalist is noticing there is jiggle
[02:30] physics in the actual trailer. And so
[02:32] they are
[02:34] obviously being very blatant and like
[02:36] trying to be disingenuous with trying to
[02:38] say that Eevee is a problem, that her
[02:40] character design is a problem. And then
[02:42] now they bring up jiggle physics on top.
[02:44] That's like
[02:45] this is ridiculous, absolutely
[02:47] ridiculous. But we need to get into what
[02:50] the CEO actually said. So, basically
[02:52] this is the full-blown interview that
[02:53] was made with IGN and I'm just going to
[02:55] read it from start to finish. The boss
[02:57] of Stellar Blade Blood Rain developer
[02:58] Shift Up has discussed the design of the
[03:00] new main character Eevee, highlighting
[03:02] the differences between her and the
[03:03] protagonist of the first game Eve. Shift
[03:06] Up announced Stellar Blade Blood Rain at
[03:08] Summer Game Fest last week with an
[03:09] eye-catching trailer that revealed
[03:11] Eevee, a brand new main character who
[03:13] prefers to punch her way through enemies
[03:15] than take the slice and dice approach
[03:16] favored by her predecessor. The biggest
[03:18] talking points out of the trailer reveal
[03:20] was the design of Eevee herself, with
[03:22] some expressing concern about her
[03:23] seemingly childlike face and the context
[03:26] of her more adult-sounding voice acting
[03:28] and body design. And then if you scroll
[03:30] down here are some screenshots, but this
[03:31] is what the interview gets into with
[03:33] Kim, the CEO of Shift Up, you know,
[03:34] clarifying. So, in an interview with IGN
[03:36] following the Summer Game Fest reveal,
[03:38] Shift Up CEO confirmed that Eevee being
[03:40] Eve's junior was a conscious design
[03:43] decision. "Yes, she is younger, she's
[03:45] smaller in size, she's shorter than
[03:47] Eve," he said, "but she has a stronger
[03:49] personality and engages in much tougher
[03:51] fights. And she's actually part of the
[03:52] special squad that chases after a group
[03:54] of terrorists who caused terror attacks
[03:56] here and there in the city. Eve in
[03:58] Stellar Blade is a highly sexualized
[04:00] character, so we asked Kim if he was
[04:02] worried that by using a young-looking
[04:04] character for Blood Rain, Shift Up was
[04:06] running the risk that some people would
[04:07] view Evie in a way that developers
[04:10] doesn't want. And then he responds with,
[04:13] "If you play the game, you will not
[04:15] think that." He replied, "I definitely
[04:17] like how Evie looked in previous the
[04:19] previous Stellar Blade, but this time
[04:21] Evie, not just her physical looks, but
[04:23] her personality, the way she talks, the
[04:25] way she engages in battle, all that will
[04:27] combine together, and you'll see that
[04:28] she's a very lovable character." So,
[04:30] this right here is such a based freaking
[04:33] statement. He just straight up said, "If
[04:35] you actually play the game,
[04:38] you won't have this complaint cuz you'll
[04:39] realize that it's not a kid."
[04:42] I love the CEO, man. Like quickly, Shift
[04:44] Up is becoming one of my favorite
[04:46] studios, and especially now that they
[04:48] don't have to deal with Sony breathing
[04:50] down their neck and forcing them to
[04:51] censor content of Stellar Blade. I'm
[04:54] very happy to see this. It just I I I'm
[04:56] I hope the CEO continues this de- design
[04:59] philosophy and just never bends the knee
[05:01] because I respect this. Mass respect,
[05:03] honestly, for the CEO even willing to
[05:06] make a statement like this. Pretty much
[05:08] saying, "If you actually play our games
[05:09] instead of complaining like a game
[05:10] journalist, you'll see the actual
[05:12] difference here and also fiction and
[05:13] reality and stuff like that." But, uh
[05:15] absolutely based freaking statement. So,
[05:17] the first Stellar Blade is known for its
[05:18] revealing unlockable outfits, and from
[05:20] the sound of things, there are no plans
[05:21] to tone things down for the sequel.
[05:23] "It'll be even more appealing," Kim said
[05:25] on Evie's outfits. "That's all we can
[05:27] say." Elsewhere in our interview, we
[05:29] asked Kim why Shift Up has decided to go
[05:31] with a new protagonist instead of
[05:32] sticking with Evie in the first place,
[05:34] giving her popularity with players. He
[05:36] replied to tease a plot point that will
[05:38] eventually help to explain the decision.
[05:40] "We cannot tell you everything right now
[05:41] because this would be a spoiler," Kim
[05:43] said. "But, once you have played the
[05:45] sequel, you'll see that Evie's backstory
[05:46] will be more memorial, it will be more
[05:48] attractive in a in a way. So, is Eve's
[05:50] story over or will fans get more Stellar
[05:52] Blade story involving Eve? And he
[05:54] responds with, "Well, first of all, the
[05:56] sequel story, it stands alone. So, you
[05:59] don't have to know the previous story to
[06:01] properly enjoy this," Kim said. "But, if
[06:03] you did play the first one, you'll see a
[06:04] lot of points here and there, very
[06:06] memorable and impressive moments where
[06:08] it's like, oh, that's what happened.
[06:10] That's what it turned out to be." And I
[06:12] love this shot, by the way, absolutely
[06:13] amazing. Shift Up has said, "Blood Rain
[06:15] is the next chapter in the celebrate
[06:17] franchise. It's set in the same universe
[06:19] as Stellar Blade and it continues the
[06:20] story beyond the events of the first
[06:21] game. It's still early in development,
[06:23] but Shift Up has said the development
[06:25] team has made incredible progress." So,
[06:27] basically, to make a long story short,
[06:30] after this interview of the CEO
[06:31] clarifying the design philosophy of Eve
[06:34] and not willing to basically censor
[06:36] anything, you have game journalists
[06:38] absolutely crashing out, not happy with
[06:40] the fact that the CEO is holding their
[06:41] ground, not wanting to censor anything,
[06:43] not even humoring that she looks too
[06:45] childlike. Just straight-up saying, "If
[06:47] you actually play our games and know,
[06:48] you'll know that this is completely
[06:49] untrue." And the response to these
[06:52] statements, by the way, Kim, the actual,
[06:54] you know, creator of Stellar Blade and
[06:56] CEO, has since been going on a retweet
[06:59] spree, retweeting of different Eve fan
[07:01] art, like your Eve fan art, like here's
[07:03] one right here. You just see a bunch of
[07:05] retweets and stuff going on. So, it's
[07:07] very obvious just yeah, like he doesn't
[07:10] care. Like the actual the actual creator
[07:13] of Stellar Blade and Eve and all that
[07:15] just does not care and is not bending
[07:17] the knee. I love to see this because now
[07:19] that we have an actual official
[07:21] statement, and we also have this going
[07:24] on, it is just beautiful. And it is so
[07:27] beautiful to see this cuz we live in a
[07:29] society now where people can't stand on
[07:31] principle and do like um
[07:34] basically hold their ground and hold
[07:35] their morals. They have to bend the
[07:36] their knee to modern audiences. I'm glad
[07:39] to see that this is not happening. I
[07:40] also want to point out something that's
[07:42] very fascinating someone mentioned which
[07:43] I thought was pretty humorous because it
[07:45] is true. Have you noticed one of these
[07:47] already has a flood of cosplays and fan
[07:49] art and the other has none?
[07:53] >> [laughter]
[07:54] >> I mean
[07:55] yeah, I'd say yeah. It It speaks for
[07:58] itself. I think it does. So, I will
[08:00] leave it at that. If you enjoy my
[08:02] content, please subscribe. It does help
[08:03] me out a lot, but be safe, stay healthy.
[08:05] Chibi out.
