1:50Affordable Price Point
At $40, it's not a full-price Nintendo title, making it a lower-risk purchase for potential new fans.
3:30[00:01] Yeah. Well, let's move on and talk about
[00:03] uh Rhythm Heaven Groove, which was also
[00:05] in the direct, but I got to play Rhythm
[00:06] Heaven at the same event I played Star
[00:08] Fox a few weeks ago. I played Rhythm
[00:09] Heaven for about 45 minutes. And man,
[00:12] this game's so good. It is going to be
[00:13] really, really awesome when it comes
[00:15] out. I love Rhythm Heaven. Mega Mix on
[00:17] 3DS is one of my favorite games on that
[00:19] system. And one of my favorite parts
[00:21] about that game is the multiplayer,
[00:23] which you could do through download
[00:25] play. If you had two 3DS's, you only had
[00:27] to have one copy of the game and you
[00:28] could play it together. and my wife and
[00:30] I played that all the time together when
[00:31] we were dating in college. It's super
[00:33] fun. But now it's couch co-op. There's
[00:35] like 80 multiplayer, maybe not 80, but
[00:37] there's a bunch of multiplayer co-op and
[00:39] competitive mini games that you can just
[00:41] play with everyone have a Joy-Con on the
[00:43] couch cuz it's like a one button game.
[00:45] So, it really doesn't matter what
[00:46] controller you're using. And it's just
[00:48] that like wacky Nintendo Waroware
[00:50] infused just absurdity that you never
[00:53] know what's going to happen next. And
[00:55] like the one of the competitive games
[00:56] was you're seeing who can grab the cake
[00:59] off the table closest to the alarm going
[01:01] off. So the alarm will start counting
[01:03] down from like 15 seconds and then
[01:05] eventually it will disappear. So then
[01:07] you're just counting in your head like
[01:08] here it is like 5 4 3 2 1 and then you
[01:11] all grab the cake and whoever is the
[01:13] closest on either side over or under
[01:15] gets the cake and then their their
[01:17] little Elvis hairdo grows to be longer
[01:19] like after they grab the cake. It's like
[01:21] why is that happening? But it's just so
[01:23] great that it does and everyone else
[01:24] falls out of their chair onto the
[01:25] ground. Just really really entertaining.
[01:28] Or there's one where you're these four
[01:30] ninjas protecting the emperor from these
[01:33] these villains who are shooting arrows
[01:34] at you and then you have to like slice
[01:36] through their arrows with your katana on
[01:38] the exact beat. That's great. There's
[01:40] one where you're like a turnip with an
[01:43] umbrella and you're like dancing in the
[01:45] rain, but you don't want to get rained
[01:46] on, so you have to open your umbrella at
[01:48] the exact right moments, which is it's
[01:50] just it's rhythm heaven. Like it's
[01:51] exactly what you want out of the first
[01:53] Rhythm Heaven in 10 years. And one of
[01:56] the coolest parts is I got to play like
[01:58] a full world of levels, which is like
[02:00] five five games. And it's like the
[02:02] turnup one. It's the one we saw in the
[02:04] initial reveal trailer where it's just
[02:05] all these little circle guys jumping
[02:07] through hoops. There's a dog catching a
[02:09] Frisbee. And there's a dinosaur who's
[02:11] like eating flowers. And all four of
[02:13] these games play to their own beat. Like
[02:15] you're doing it on like two and four in
[02:17] a lot of them. You're doing them on like
[02:18] offbeats on another. And then there's
[02:20] this remix which mixes all of them
[02:22] together and it plays this like J-pop
[02:25] song and it's just constantly like
[02:26] flipping between all five games and you
[02:28] have to like remember the individual
[02:30] rhythm for each one and it's just super
[02:32] satisfying. The music is I think the
[02:35] best rhythm heaven's ever seen. It's
[02:37] just awesome. Like this game's out in on
[02:39] July 2nd in just a few weeks and it's on
[02:40] Switch One. It's the last Switch One
[02:42] game we know about. I think it's just
[02:43] going to be really really fantastic.
[02:46] >> Hell yeah. I'm so excited. it. Yeah, it
[02:48] looks so stupid and amazing. Stupid in a
[02:51] good way.
[02:52] >> Oh, yeah. In a very good way.
[02:54] >> I I think like looking at some of these
[02:56] mini games uh again because I this this
[02:58] sort of just like this is one of those
[03:00] things where when I saw the trailer for
[03:01] this I was like, "Oh, awesome. Yeah, I'm
[03:02] in. I'm in day one." Um but I didn't
[03:04] really stop to actually look at what is
[03:07] happening specifically. And it is
[03:09] amazing. That that cake that cake thing
[03:11] is going to be a huge hit in my
[03:13] household. I cannot wait for this. This
[03:15] looks This is like I mean I'm I'm a
[03:17] massive uh Warriorware fan. So and
[03:19] anything that sort of scratches that
[03:21] itch is always is always going to have a
[03:23] place in my heart.
[03:24] >> Yeah, it's it's exactly that. It's
[03:26] Rhythm Warrior. If you haven't played
[03:27] it, I think it's 40 bucks. This is not a
[03:30] full price Nintendo title. So
[03:32] >> yeah, you you got to dip into this one.
[03:34] It's going to be one of my favorite
[03:35] games of this year, I think.
[03:37] >> Um it also it has like the same text to
[03:40] speech sort of voice as Tomodachi Life.
[03:43] They're just really into that weird
[03:45] uncanny vibe right now. Like the
[03:46] narrator of all the story and stuff is
[03:48] has that same robotic rhythm as as the
[03:50] Miis do in Tomodachi, which I thought
[03:52] was interesting. But
[03:54] >> sweet. Yeah, it's it's going to be
[03:56] great. And there's so many games I've
[03:57] not seen yet. I also saw the RPG mode,
[03:59] which is called Beat Spell. They showed
[04:00] this off a little in the direct. Uh it's
[04:02] it's I think not really a full RPG like
[04:06] it's maybe being built as. It's just
[04:07] another mini game that plays out like
[04:09] turn-based RPG battles where you're
[04:11] learning spells and it's like XXY is
[04:14] like your fire and then XY is to heal
[04:17] and then you're hitting these to the
[04:18] beat as you're fighting these very basic
[04:21] like RPG slime dragon quest level
[04:23] enemies. It's cool. It's just another
[04:25] miniame. Um but it kind of seems to me
[04:27] the progression is going to be you play
[04:29] all the normal games to rank up and
[04:31] unlock stars to eventually earn your way
[04:34] to the next RPG level. And I think
[04:35] that's going to be like beating the game
[04:37] is when you reach the end of the RPG.
[04:39] But who really cares about that? It's
[04:40] all about the stupid mini games and and
[04:42] playing with your friends and family.
[04:44] >> Yep. So that's Rhythm Hem Groove out in
[04:46] just a few weeks. We're going to talk
[04:47] about Star Fox, which is out next week.
