The speakers express excitement for both, noting their contrasting styles and innovative additions.
The speakers introduce two upcoming Star Wars games: Zero Company (tactical) and Galactic Racer (racing).
Zero Company is described as XCOM-like but with Mass Effect 2-style crew relationship building, including customizable non-bespoke characters and scripted NPCs.
The game is expected to release around August.
Galactic Racer is a high-speed pod racing game reminiscent of Wipeout and Extreme G, with roguelite elements in story mode and character interactions between races.
The speakers appreciate that these are smaller, more focused games compared to massive projects like Battlefront 2, and hope for more creative, smaller Star Wars titles.
"The title accurately reflects the enthusiastic discussion about both games, though the hype is more conversational than promotional."

6:40[00:00] There's two really cool looking Star
[00:01] Wars games that are coming out like
[00:03] soon.
[00:03] >> Yeah.
[00:04] >> Crazy. Uh and they're they're doing two
[00:06] They're I love that they're exact
[00:07] opposite mentalities, but they both
[00:09] sound like they are kind of mixing it up
[00:11] in the best possible way. Uh Star Wars
[00:13] Zero Company is [snorts]
[00:15] the it's got the it's at a glance you're
[00:17] like, "Okay, it's XCOM." The thing that
[00:19] I think they're burying is that that
[00:20] it's also very Mass Effect 2.
[00:23] >> Mhm.
[00:23] >> Where you are basically trying to get
[00:26] this whole like ragtag crew together and
[00:27] you have to like do you have to build
[00:29] relationships with them. So, there's
[00:30] there's that. You also have like you'll
[00:33] also have kind of, you know, your own
[00:34] customizable
[00:36] dis- not disposable, but you'll have
[00:38] like a non- non-bespoke scripted
[00:40] characters, but then you'll have a
[00:41] handful of like
[00:43] thoroughly written out NPCs that you
[00:45] have like on your squad and you can pick
[00:46] and choose who you want to take into
[00:47] battle. And you know, then the rest of
[00:49] it s- seems like it's just Star Wars
[00:51] XCOM, which like
[00:52] no problem with that. That sounds like a
[00:54] good time. I would like to play that. Uh
[00:57] I love a good tactical game. I XCOM was
[00:59] was uh that was Enemy Unknown was my my
[01:01] first and I was always
[01:03] prior to that was like I just didn't
[01:04] really
[01:06] Yeah, I didn't really give a [ __ ] about
[01:07] turn-based stuff and I don't really know
[01:09] why. I don't know what made it click,
[01:10] but that just suddenly was like, "Oh,
[01:11] wow. I actually enjoy strategy on some
[01:13] level. This is neat." And
[01:15] [clears throat]
[01:16] I think also just the amount of the
[01:17] amount of personality that XCOM had
[01:19] where you like go back to your little
[01:20] base and you like talk to people and
[01:22] there's like a sense of kind of you're
[01:24] again going back to the whole like thing
[01:25] about I like a robot game where you feel
[01:27] like you get in the robot. I like that
[01:29] you can you feel like you're in this
[01:30] world. You're not just looking at grids.
[01:32] >> Mhm.
[01:33] >> And this one sounds like they're just
[01:34] kind of they're they're
[01:36] music to my ears. And it comes out in
[01:37] like August, I think.
[01:40] >> Mhm.
[01:40] >> When is this out?
[01:41] >> Yeah, this is this is like not my
[01:42] favorite genre of games, but this is one
[01:46] of my favorite IPs and I realize that
[01:48] that does a lot of hip heavy lifting for
[01:50] me. Um that Alien one that came out,
[01:52] what was the name of it, Max?
[01:54] >> Oh, um
[01:56] >> You talking about the
[01:57] >> The like tactical one where you're like
[01:58] marching the guys down [clears throat]
[02:00] through.
[02:00] Um
[02:01] >> That was really awesome. It was like a,
[02:03] you know, tactics based alien game that
[02:05] did really good survival horror and
[02:07] people went insane from space madness.
[02:10] Um there's like prominent characters.
[02:12] >> Descent. Yeah, I really I really dug
[02:14] that one.
[02:14] >> That one That one was was real Was that
[02:16] real-time combat? I think it was.
[02:18] >> That was technically I believe it was I
[02:19] think it was like pseudo real-time to
[02:22] where it kind of things moved while you
[02:24] moved kind of aspect. It's been a while
[02:26] since I played it, so I could be wrong
[02:28] as well, but
[02:28] >> Yeah, it was
[02:29] I was sort of hoping it would just be
[02:30] like a more straight XCOM thing and it
[02:32] was it was cool, but it wasn't exactly
[02:34] what I wanted. But yeah, this is looking
[02:37] I don't know this is looking neat. And
[02:38] you know, for for the impatient among
[02:40] us, there's also Star Wars Galactic
[02:42] Racer, which is I don't know I love that
[02:44] you're like, okay, there's a turn-based
[02:45] tactical strategy thing. You wait your
[02:47] turn, you're planning your next move.
[02:48] Here's one where you go 300 miles an
[02:49] hour and try to make other things blow
[02:51] up instead of you. And I'm into it. I
[02:53] can't wait.
[02:54] >> Yeah, keep going. I'm more excited for
[02:55] this. This reminds me of like the old
[02:57] school
[02:58] like early days where like we were
[03:00] getting stuff like Extreme G and Wipeout
[03:02] and like this whole like hey the year is
[03:05] 2022
[03:07] and
[03:08] >> [laughter]
[03:09] >> the world has gone apocalyptic and the
[03:10] only way to save it is to drive these
[03:12] stupid things really [laughter] fast.
[03:14] I'm like, yeah, sure man, it's great. I
[03:16] love it. And they were always like such
[03:17] graphical showcases and stuff like that.
[03:19] Um
[03:20] this one looks really cool. Reading
[03:21] about like the rogue light elements for
[03:23] the story mode. Also, I realized they
[03:26] they put a what's his name Max Rebo?
[03:28] He's like a in Solo and he's voiced by
[03:31] Jon Favreau and there's another one of
[03:32] those four-arm monkey guys who's voiced
[03:34] by Scorsese in in Mandalorian and Grogu
[03:37] and they have one of those guys in this
[03:38] game and I hope they got a director for
[03:40] it.
[03:41] >> [snorts]
[03:41] >> It's Wes Anderson. It's Wes
[03:43] >> [laughter]
[03:43] >> Heard it here first. No, it's not.
[03:46] I wish these cars would stop going so
[03:48] damn fast.
[03:48] >> I think if you tried to talk to Wes
[03:50] Anderson about pod racing, he would
[03:52] [laughter] just burst into flames.
[03:56] That pod racing is basically the
[03:57] opposite of all of his sensibilities.
[03:59] >> Mhm. I am so hyped for both of these.
[04:02] This like the trailer for pod racing
[04:04] here or racers is just straight up
[04:07] burnout for me. Everything from the
[04:08] cinematic when you run somebody into a
[04:10] wall like it's just
[04:12] calling my name. That is going to be a
[04:14] day one easy easy easy decision for me.
[04:19] Uh and
[04:21] Zero Company as well. I I just finished
[04:24] up Midnight Suns with Platinum like last
[04:27] year.
[04:28] >> Oh, hell yeah.
[04:28] >> I played that for so many hours. Like it
[04:30] was I probably put a pumped a good 200
[04:32] hours into it.
[04:33] >> With second wind shorter. That game was
[04:34] too long.
[04:35] >> I mean, but I loved it. I loved all the
[04:38] interactions with all the your your
[04:40] teammates and everybody that you could
[04:41] like, you know, take Storm on a a little
[04:44] date up to the roof and
[04:45] >> Yeah, that was the part I liked.
[04:47] But then it Yeah, you then you get stuck
[04:49] fighting like zombie juggernaut for 3
[04:52] hours or whatever, but
[04:54] >> [laughter]
[04:54] >> No, that that that was Yeah.
[04:56] >> Yeah. I I just hope they take what
[04:58] everybody loves about like the the
[05:00] original XCOM games and they take in a
[05:02] lot of that pseudo relationship stuff
[05:05] and put it into Zero Company. If so, I
[05:07] think they've got a a winning
[05:09] uh hand.
[05:10] >> I asked them if there's romance options,
[05:11] they wouldn't tell me, but I hope
[05:12] there's romance options so I can do
[05:14] kissing when I'm not engaged in like
[05:16] tactical permadeath mode. Uh
[05:18] So the the human side of the racers is a
[05:20] thing I'm also excited about with the
[05:21] human alien whatever. There's
[05:23] bits where you're in between races where
[05:25] you get to like walk around a little a
[05:26] little area.
[05:28] Uh I was immediately on board with this
[05:29] one when they first showed it off and
[05:30] then I heard the roguelite thing and I
[05:32] was kind of iffy about it, but the more
[05:33] I think about it, the more I really like
[05:35] it because it's it sounds like it's kind
[05:37] of roguelite choose your own adventure
[05:38] like it's very it's very
[05:40] wrapped around the story. It's not just
[05:42] not just the gameplay side of it, but
[05:46] uh yeah, I guess between races you get
[05:48] to sort of hang out. Yeah, you get to
[05:49] hang out in that place where like
[05:51] like, you know, where Qui- Qui-Gon and
[05:53] Watto play dice or whatever. [laughter]
[05:56] That paddock area.
[05:57] >> The junkyard, yeah.
[05:58] >> Yeah, and it's just Yeah. How cool would
[06:00] it be by the trash?
[06:01] >> How cool would it be if you like those
[06:02] conversations like led into like
[06:04] somebody tampering with your vehicle
[06:05] before a race or something like story
[06:07] elements?
[06:08] >> hope that's the case.
[06:09] >> That would be really cool.
[06:10] >> Yeah, I think just That is That is a
[06:11] great gameplay idea.
[06:12] >> This doesn't It doesn't need Again, this
[06:15] game doesn't need to get weird. It
[06:16] doesn't need to be a roguelite. It
[06:18] doesn't need to have, you know,
[06:19] character interactions. It could just be
[06:21] a straightforward racing game and people
[06:22] would probably be excited for it, but I
[06:24] really like that they are actually
[06:25] getting They're trying some new stuff.
[06:27] They're getting a little bit a little
[06:28] bit creative with it.
[06:29] >> Yeah, they're doing a little world
[06:30] building. It's cool.
[06:31] >> that creative world building is what's
[06:32] going to would make will help take this
[06:34] game from being a cool, I've played it
[06:36] for 3-6 months to playing people playing
[06:38] it for a year or more.
[06:39] >> Yeah.
[06:40] Also, can I just say how extremely happy
[06:43] it makes me that we are getting
[06:45] two Star Wars games within months of
[06:47] each other instead of
[06:49] multiple Star Wars game cancellations
[06:51] within months of each other. Like, we
[06:54] got so used to just like hearing about a
[06:55] thing, oh, it's not happening. Hearing
[06:57] about a thing, it's they're not doing
[06:58] it. And like
[07:00] I don't know, EA I don't know how they
[07:01] do things over there, but we got like
[07:03] They had that franchise for 10 years and
[07:06] I think we got
[07:07] I don't know, we got the Jedi games out
[07:08] of it. That was cool. Battlefront had
[07:10] its moments, but it was largely
[07:12] it felt like they were just
[07:14] overthinking it.
[07:15] >> Yeah, and these these are not these are
[07:17] not small games by any stretch of the
[07:18] imagination, but they're definitely
[07:20] smaller than Battlefront 2 was, right?
[07:22] It like there isn't there aren't 600
[07:25] maps here from what I can tell or like 6
[07:27] years of planned content. I don't know
[07:28] what the long tail looks like for for
[07:30] Galactic Racers, but something tells me
[07:32] that this is not at the same budget as
[07:34] something like that. And this is what
[07:35] This is what I think you need to do,
[07:37] like, you know, and like do this and do
[07:40] even smaller stuff, right? Bring back
[07:41] Yoda stories. Give me
[07:43] Give me small games again.
[07:45] >> Oh [snorts] man, yeah, modern Yoda
[07:46] stories.
[07:47] >> Mhm.
[07:48] >> I play that.
[07:49] >> Make it a roguelite.
[07:50] >> Yeah.
[07:51] >> Add romance options. You can go kiss
[07:53] Yoda.
[07:53] >> He kisses He loves to kiss that snake
[07:55] that he's always
[07:56] >> His little forehead.
[07:57] >> I'm not shooting, I'm smooching.
[07:59] >> [laughter]
[07:59] >> Anyway.
