X-Men 97 RECAP - Everything You Need to Know Before Season 2

[00:08] are not just recapping season 1 of this

[00:10] incredible show, but we are running

[00:11] through the original series and all the

[00:13] details about Magneto Apocalypse and

[00:15] time travel that will be a part of this

[00:17] new season. So, let's get started.

[00:23] Several decades ago, two mutants,

[00:25] Charles Xavier and Eric Lynch, became

[00:27] friends, even though they had

[00:28] differences on how mankind could coexist

[00:30] with mutants.

[00:31] >> We must use our special gifts to bring

[00:33] peace to mankind. You're a fool,

[00:36] Charles.

[00:37] >> Eric, a Holocaust survivor, becomes the

[00:39] super villain Magneto, while Charles

[00:41] founds a school for mutants and the

[00:42] superhero team, the X-Men. His first

[00:44] students are telepath Jean Gray and

[00:46] Scott Summers. Now, when Scott was a

[00:48] child, he and his brother, Alex, barely

[00:49] survived a plane crash that killed his

[00:51] mother. But his father was kidnapped by

[00:53] aliens and became the space pirate known

[00:55] as Corsair, leader of the Star Jammers.

[00:57] Afterwards, he was raised at an

[00:58] orphanage that was secretly run by the

[01:00] super villain Nathan Essex, aka

[01:02] >> Mr. Sinister.

[01:04] >> Sinister is actually over a hundred

[01:06] years old, and his experiments with

[01:07] genetics have given him shape-shifting

[01:09] powers, and he is obsessed with the DNA

[01:11] of Scott Summers and Gan Gray. and from

[01:13] your offspring, I will control the

[01:16] future of all human creatures on Earth.

[01:19] >> Many of the original X team go their

[01:21] separate ways. Iceman leaves with his

[01:23] girlfriend Lorna, aka Polaris, while

[01:25] Warren Worthington III, aka Angel, goes

[01:27] off to enjoy being rich and doesn't

[01:29] really want to be a mutant any longer.

[01:30] They are replaced by new team members

[01:32] like Wolverine, Gambit, Storm, and

[01:34] Rogue, who is also raised by the villain

[01:36] Mystique, and has a secret romantic past

[01:38] with Magneto.

[01:39] >> Oh, that's not appropriate. Then a

[01:41] teenager nicknamed Jubilee manifests

[01:43] mutant powers, freaking out her foster

[01:44] parents. So they notify a group called

[01:46] the Mutant Control Agency. The agency is

[01:48] actually a front for a sinister

[01:50] organization controlled by Henry Peter

[01:52] Guy, who has enlisted a man named

[01:53] Boliver Tras to build an army of giant

[01:56] mutant hunting robots called Sentinels.

[01:58] >> Surrender, mutant.

[02:00] >> Of course

[02:02] not.

[02:04] >> The X-Men save Jubilee from the robots

[02:06] and then take her in. Then they take out

[02:07] all the files storing the names of the

[02:09] registered mutants. However, on the

[02:10] mission, one team member, Morph,

[02:12] apparently dies.

[02:13] >> I'll avenge you, my friend.

[02:16] I swear it.

[02:18] >> Magneto reveals himself as a villain and

[02:20] attacks a military base, but the X-Men

[02:21] stop him. Reeling from the experience,

[02:23] some of the team members take a vacation

[02:25] to Janosha, which turns out to be a

[02:27] nation that enslaves mutants to help

[02:28] build Master Mold, a giant sentinel

[02:30] building robot. With help from the time

[02:32] traveler Cable

[02:33] >> my name's Cable.

[02:34] >> They liberate the slaves and expose

[02:36] Janosha to the world. Then Warren

[02:38] Worthington seeks out a clinic on Mure

[02:40] Island that claims they can cure

[02:41] mutations, but it is secretly run by an

[02:43] immortal super villain named Apocalypse.

[02:46] >> Look upon the future

[02:48] and tremble.

[02:49] >> He transforms Warren into his

[02:51] brainwashed fourth horsemen of the

[02:52] apocalypse, nicknamed death. Warren,

[02:54] however, breaks free from the mind

[02:56] control and swears vengeance on

[02:57] Apocalypse, who barely escapes the

[04:07] to a not too distant future where the

[04:08] Sentinels have overrun mankind and the

[04:10] X-Men are either dead or on the run. The

[04:12] Inventor Forge creates a time machine

[04:14] that sends a soldier named Bishop to the

[04:16] present day where he reveals that Gambit

[04:18] will assassinate Senator Robert Kelly

[04:20] and this will lead to their dystopian

[04:21] future. But the actual assassin turns

[04:23] out to be the shape-shifting super

[04:25] villain Mystique. and they prevent the

[04:27] apocalyptic future. And then Bishop is

[04:29] sent home.

[04:30] >> Nothing's changed. It's all just like I

[04:32] left it.

[04:33] >> Master Mold comes online and orders the

[04:35] Sentinels to kidnap world leaders like

[04:37] Senator Kelly. Magneto and the X-Men

[04:38] team up to finally destroy Master Mold.

[04:40] Senator Kelly becomes president. And

[04:42] then Scott and Gene go off for a retreat

[04:44] together, but they are being watched by

[04:45] Mr. Sinister.

[04:46] >> Sinister knows what your future holds.

[04:49] >> It turns out that Morph was rescued and

[04:51] then brainwashed by Mr. Sinister, who

[04:53] turned him into a villain. However, he

[04:55] is conflicted. Sinister kidnaps Scott

[04:57] and Gene and they are rescued by the

[04:58] X-Men. Meanwhile, Xavier and Magneto are

[05:01] stranded in the Savage Land, a

[05:02] prehistoric area hidden in Antarctica.

[05:05] >> It's a dinosaur.

[05:07] >> And they are under constant threat of

[05:09] being captured by Mr. Sinister's forces.

[05:11] Back in the distant future, Bishop

[05:12] returns home to find that all is not

[05:14] well. Although he averted one dystopian

[05:16] future, now mutants are being wiped out

[05:18] by a devastating plague. So he returns

[05:21] to the 1990s to discover that the virus

[05:23] was actually engineered by Apocalypse.

[05:25] But when he stops the plague, it

[05:27] destroys another timeline. These

[05:29] timelines are so confusing.

[05:31] >> Thousands of years in the future, Cable

[05:32] is fighting a war against Apocalypse.

[05:34] But Bishop's actions cause a time

[05:36] vortex. So Cable has to travel back in

[05:38] time, fight Bishop, and then they work

[05:40] out a way to use Wolverine's antibodies

[05:41] to cure the plague, and everybody wins.

[05:44] >> Time travel.

[05:45] >> The X-Men arrive in the Savage Land to

[05:47] rescue Magneto and Charles. Then Morph

[05:49] switches back to the good side and

[05:50] Cyclops uses his powers to completely

[05:52] decimate Sinister and turn him into goo

[05:54] for now. Out in space, the Shar Empire

[05:57] rules over a vast number of planets and

[05:59] they're being led by the power mad king

[06:00] Den. His sister, Deathbird, comes to

[06:03] Earth to find a crash ship, but this

[06:04] awakens the power of the Macron crystal,

[06:06] which basically is super powerful and

[06:08] can reshape reality. Alandre, the sister

[06:10] of the mad king, steals a piece of the

[06:12] Macron crystal and flies to Earth. She

[06:14] is saved by the X-Men, but Gene has to

[06:16] pilot a shuttlecraft and appears to

[06:18] sacrifice her life to save Landre and

[06:20] the team. However, Gene was actually

[06:22] possessed by an awesome cosmic entity

[06:24] called the Phoenix Force, and she

[06:26] basically becomes the most powerful

[06:27] person on Earth.

[06:29] >> I am Phoenix.

[06:33] >> The Ken sends the Shi Imperial Guard to

[06:34] Earth to kidnap Landre and bring her

[06:36] home. So, the X-Men pursue them into

[06:38] space where they meet Cyclops's father,

[06:40] Corsair, but neither of them will know

[06:42] about their connection till later in the

[06:43] series. Turns out Corsair's group is

[06:45] fighting against the evil Shi emperor

[06:47] Den. The Phoenix ultimately saves the

[06:49] universe by destroying the crystal. And

[06:51] afterwards, Landre is made queen of the

[06:53] Shar. Archangel is obsessed with

[06:54] vengeance against Apocalypse, but has to

[06:56] learn to let go of his hatred and his

[06:58] quest for vengeance. At least for now.

[07:00] >> Don't you know WHAT HE IS? DON'T YOU

[07:02] KNOW WHAT HE'LL DO?

[07:03] >> EASY, SUGAR. Iceman returns to the

[07:05] X-Mansion and asks for help hunting down

[07:06] his girlfriend, who has disappeared. It

[07:09] turns out that she is working with a

[07:11] government sponsored team called

[07:12] XFactor, which is being led by Cyclops's

[07:14] brother, Havoc. Their chief engineer is

[07:16] an old friend of Charles, the mutant

[07:17] named Forge, who has the power to invent

[07:19] anything his mind can conceive of. The

[07:21] Phoenix begins to corrupt Gene, making

[07:23] her more evil and aggressive.

[07:24] >> It's hopeless. How can anyone live

[07:26] possessed by another being? After she is

[07:29] manipulated into joining the villainous

[07:30] hellfire club, Gene breaks free from

[07:32] mind control and becomes the dark

[07:34] phoenix, an unstoppable cosmic force for

[07:36] destruction. After she consumes an

[07:38] entire star system, the shi march her

[07:40] for death. The X-Men intervene to stop

[07:42] the shar from executing Gene. They are

[07:43] sentenced to trial by combat on the blue

[07:45] area of the moon, where Gene ultimately

[07:47] sacrifices herself to save the X-Men and

[07:49] the universe. However, she does later

[07:51] return, but without the power of the

[07:52] Phoenix, Magneto builds a mutant

[07:54] sanctuary called Asteroid M, where he

[07:56] will rule a mutant society. where any

[07:58] mutant may live apart from humanity free

[08:01] from its cruelty.

[08:02] >> However, one of his acolytes, Fabian

[08:04] Cortez, betrays him and attempts to

[08:06] murder him. Magneto returns to the

[08:07] asteroid, defeats Cortez, and destroys

[08:09] his base, now abandoning his dream of

[08:11] creating a mutantonly society. A hyper

[08:13] advanced sentinel from the future called

[08:15] Nimrod travels back in time to

[08:17] assassinate young Charles Xavier.

[08:19] >> It can't be bargained with. It can't be

[08:21] reasoned with. It succeeds and creates

[08:24] an apocalyptic present day where Magneto

[08:26] leads the X-Men against the forces of

[08:28] humanity. Wolverine and Storm travel

[08:30] back in time with Bishop to help prevent

[08:31] the assassination, but Nimrod stays

[08:34] behind and attaches himself to a

[08:35] janitor, which will later cause a

[08:37] mutation in his son, Bastion. But more

[08:39] on him later. Next begins an arc titled

[08:41] Beyond Good and Evil, which is an epic

[08:43] four-parter that was originally meant to

[08:45] end this series. In the far future of

[08:47] Cable's timeline, Apocalypse takes

[08:48] control of a place called the Axis of

[08:50] Time, a kind of junction point for all

[08:52] timelines, and he begins to rewrite the

[08:54] entire flow of time. He recruits all of

[08:56] the X-Men villains, including Magneto

[08:58] and Mr. Sinister, who then helps to

[09:00] kidnap psychics from across the galaxy.

[09:02] This interrupts the wedding of Scott and

[09:03] Gan Gray, who feel like they can never

[09:05] live a normal life. Then, Bishop's

[09:07] sister, Shard, arrives in the present

[09:09] day to guide the X-Men. Warren and

[09:10] Psylock join the team to help eliminate

[09:12] Apocalypse while Bishop is stranded at

[09:14] the Axis of Time and gets help from this

[09:16] weird little guy.

[09:17] >> Oh, nothing much. He's just screwing

[09:19] around with THE WHOLE SPACE-TIME

[09:21] CONTINUUM.

[09:22] >> IN THE DISTANT FUTURE, Cable leads an

[09:24] assault on Apocalypse's rejuvenation

[09:25] chamber. But when the attack fails, he

[09:27] travels to the past to work with the

[09:29] X-Men to attack the same chamber in the

[09:31] present day.

[09:32] >> They're going to get temporal pins

[09:33] movement.

[09:34] >> This attack also fails. Meanwhile, at

[09:36] the axis of time, Apocalypse begins his

[09:38] final plan to rule over all of reality.

[09:41] >> Recreating the universe in my own image,

[09:45] a perfect universe, a grateful universe.

[09:48] >> However, when Magneto learns that

[09:49] Apocalypse intends to erase all of

[09:51] realities, he secretly turns against

[09:53] him. The X-Men along with Magneto,

[09:55] Archangel, and Cable infiltrate the axis

[09:57] of time and stop Apocalypse's plans.

[09:59] Sinister escapes into the time stream

[10:01] while Apocalypse appears to be

[10:02] destroyed. It turns out though that the

[10:04] weird little guy that was helping Bishop

[10:06] was actually Immortis in disguise. And

[10:08] Immortis is the future version of the

[10:10] timetraveling villain King the

[10:11] Conqueror.

[10:12] >> I AM KING.

[10:13] >> And Charles and Magneto seem to be close

[10:15] to putting aside their differences.

[10:17] >> Perhaps if we could start the world

[10:18] over, it would be possible again.

[10:21] >> Aliens called the Failance invade Earth,

[10:23] forcing Wolverine, Beast, Magneto,

[10:24] Cable, and Forge to work together to

[10:26] save the world.

[10:27] >> I never thought I'd see the day when we

[10:29] would all be working together.

[10:31] Apocalypse is now a bodyless spirit who

[10:33] inhabits the body of Magneto's former

[10:35] acolyte, Fabian Cortez. Then on the

[10:37] recently liberated island of Janosia,

[10:39] Apocalypse conducts a ceremony to give

[10:41] himself a new form so he can return.

[10:43] >> Somehow Palpatine returned.

[10:45] >> But then Henry Peter Guyrich, the

[10:47] hatemonger who pioneered the Sentinel

[10:49] program, assassinates Charles Xavier on

[10:51] live television. The event sparks mutant

[10:53] outrage, especially on Janosha, which

[10:55] has become a haven for mutant society.

[10:57] Mutants gather on the island and beg

[10:59] Magneto to lead them in a war against

[11:01] humanity.

[11:02] >> Nature has made us superior. This world

[11:05] is our world now. Take it.

[11:08] >> However, Xavier is not dead yet. The

[11:10] X-Men know that the Shar have technology

[11:12] that can save his life, but they need

[11:14] Magneto's help in order to summon them.

[11:16] Magneto is now forced to choose, and he

[11:18] abandons his war against humanity to

[11:20] help summon the aliens to save his best

[11:22] friend's life.

[11:24] I am proud of you all, my X-Men.

[11:35] So, one year goes by with the world

[11:37] believing that Charles Xavier is dead,

[11:38] and this has ushered in an era of good

[11:40] feelings between mutants and humans.

[11:42] Cyclops is leading the X-Men, and Gene

[11:44] is 9 months pregnant with their son.

[11:46] Privately, though, they begin to wonder

[11:48] if it's time for them to move on from

[11:49] the team and start a new life together.

[11:51] The team rescues a teenage mutant named

[11:53] Roberto Dcasta from anti-mutant humans

[11:55] who have been adapting sentinel

[11:56] technology.

[11:57] >> No, don't. I surrender.

[12:00] >> Not.

[12:02] >> And this leads to the X-Men

[12:03] interrogating Guy to find out where

[12:05] these sentinels are.

[12:07] >> Tolerance is extinction. But when Gene

[12:10] touches his mind, she sees disturbing

[12:12] visions. But with the information they

[12:14] gather, they're able to track down a new

[12:15] Master Mold and its creator, Boliviver

[12:17] Tras. They defeat Master Mold and return

[12:19] home to discover that Charles has left

[12:21] his mansion and leadership of the team

[12:23] to their old enemy, Magneto.

[12:25] >> My X-Men.

[12:27] >> Magneto works to turn over a new leaf as

[12:29] the leader of the X-Men, but he is

[12:31] arrested by the UN for all of his past

[12:33] crimes. While he is standing trial, Gene

[12:35] goes into labor at a local hospital

[12:36] where the human doctors refuse to treat

[12:38] her.

[12:39] >> I'll show you a C-section B. Meanwhile,

[12:42] protesters stormed the UN with part of

[12:44] the team helping to stem the riot until

[12:45] an assassin with a gun that's adapted

[12:47] from a power dampening collar penetrates

[12:49] the assembly, trying to shoot Magneto,

[12:51] but instead robs Storm of her powers.

[12:54] >> The breeze is gone. I cannot feel it,

[12:58] nor the moisture, nor the air.

[13:01] >> In a fit of rage, Magneto raises the

[13:02] judge's panel high above Earth to give

[13:04] an impassion speech about the value of

[13:06] working together. that this is a shared

[13:09] world with a common future and that my

[13:12] kind like yours have the right to live

[13:15] in it.

[13:16] >> But then he ends with a threatening

[13:17] plea.

[13:18] >> Do not make me let you down.

[13:21] >> Afterwards, a woman who looks exactly

[13:23] like Gan Gray appears on their doorstep.

[13:25] After conducting extensive tests, Beast

[13:27] confirms that the woman on the doorstep

[13:29] is actually the original Gan Gray and

[13:31] the gene who gave birth to Nathan is a

[13:32] clone.

[13:33] >> I'm the original. So, the process was a

[13:36] success.

[13:37] >> Furthermore, he can tell that Mr.

[13:39] Sinister is the creator of the clone.

[13:41] Then, clone Jean's mind suddenly flips

[13:43] and she is under Sinister's control when

[13:44] she attacks the X-Men. The real Gene

[13:46] tries to fight her off, but she delivers

[13:48] baby Nathan to the super villain, Mr.

[13:50] Sinister. Sinister's plan is to create a

[13:52] genetically superior child with the DNA

[13:54] of Scott and Gene, but then expose it to

[13:56] a technoorganic virus to strengthen its

[13:58] DNA even further. Sinister was likely

[14:01] exposing Nathan to it in the hopes of

[14:02] making him invincible.

[14:06] So, Clone Gene fights the X-Men, but

[14:08] overcomes Sinister's control long enough

[14:09] to save baby Nathan. However, Sinister

[14:12] has infected Nathan with this virus, and

[14:14] he will die. Bishop then offers to take

[14:16] the baby into the future, where his

[14:17] advanced technology can save his life.

[14:19] Clone Gene leaves the team and gives

[14:21] herself a new name.

[14:22] >> Call me Meline Prior.

[14:24] >> While Storm also leaves the team to cope

[14:25] with not having powers, Jubilee and

[14:27] Roberto want to celebrate her 18th

[14:29] birthday, but instead they are pulled

[14:30] into another dimension called Mojo

[14:32] World. It is run by a mega maniacal

[14:34] villain who is always chasing higher

[14:35] ratings.

[14:36] >> They want entertainment.

[14:39] >> He makes Jubilee run through video game

[14:40] levels of her past before they are saved

[14:42] by an older version of herself from the

[14:44] simulation. And then she and Roberto

[14:46] escape together and make out.

[14:50] >> Meanwhile, Storm meets Forge who offers

[14:52] to attempt to restore her powers. The

[14:54] two of them begin to have a romantic

[14:56] interest in one another until Forge

[14:58] reveals that he was partially

[15:00] responsible for creating the weapon that

[15:01] robbed her of her powers. This dramatic

[15:03] moment is interrupted though when a

[15:05] demon arrives and attacks Forge. Months

[15:07] go by and Magneto is invited to the

[15:09] island of Janosha, which has become a

[15:11] safe haven for mutants and the UN is

[15:12] about to recognize it as an official

[15:14] nation. Reporter Trish Tilby is at the

[15:16] exion interviewing the team for a fluff

[15:18] piece while Scott is still coping with

[15:20] losing his son. I gave him up because

[15:22] you can't say thank you. Because I have

[15:24] to stomach your questions and prove that

[15:26] I'm a person.

[15:27] >> Jean also discovers that Scott and

[15:29] Meline are having secret intimate

[15:31] meetings via telepathy and this strain

[15:33] starts to hurt their relationship. She

[15:35] even kisses Wolverine.

[15:37] >> You're Jean Gray. He's Scott Summers.

[15:39] Those are the rules.

[15:41] >> Jean shares a psychic report with

[15:42] Meline, so she has all of her memories,

[15:44] but Scott is not sure which of them he

[15:46] actually loves.

[15:47] >> This is brilliant, but I like this.

[15:50] Meanwhile, on Janosha, Magneto is

[15:52] offered a seat on the ruling council and

[15:53] accepts only if Rogue will join him. In

[15:56] a tearful scene, she tells Gambit about

[15:58] her secret past relationship with

[15:59] Magneto and says that she is going to

[16:01] join him.

[16:06] >> The mutants have a grand gala and Cable

[16:08] shows up to warn that something awful is

[16:10] about to happen. And then Meline touches

[16:12] his mind and realizes that this is her

[16:14] long-lost son, Nathan, from the future.

[16:16] Then the party becomes a catastrophe

[16:17] when a giant kaiju sized sentinel

[16:19] attacks. Magneto then leads the fight,

[16:22] but he is presumably killed defending

[16:23] the Morlocks. Rogue is ready to die to

[16:26] win the fight, but she is saved by

[16:27] Gambit, who then sacrifices his life to

[16:29] save the island.

[16:31] >> Remember it.

[16:32] >> And afterwards,

[16:33] >> you know what happens when I touch

[16:34] somebody? You want to end up in the

[16:36] hospital.

[16:37] >> I need a minute.

[16:38] >> Gambit loves you.

[16:41] >> Rogue is finally able to touch him.

[16:44] I can't feel you.

[16:47] >> Moving away from that, Storm and Forge

[16:49] are able to fend off the demon's

[16:50] influence over them while Storm has to

[16:52] overcome her fear of close places to get

[16:54] a rare plant to save Forge's life.

[16:56] Facing her fears and her trauma restores

[16:58] her powers. But then she sees Janosha on

[17:00] the news and knows that she has to

[17:02] rejoin the team. Meanwhile, in space,

[17:04] Charles has been cured and he has fallen

[17:06] in love with Landre, Queen of the Shar.

[17:08] >> To the might and glory of the Imperium.

[17:12] However, the racist colonizing Shi

[17:14] empire doesn't take well to having their

[17:15] new emperor be a human. So, Deathbird

[17:17] demands that Charles erase all memories

[17:19] of Earth and the X-Men from his own

[17:21] mind. Charles chooses another way to

[17:23] educate the Shar that colonialism is

[17:25] stupid. But the psychic classroom is

[17:27] interrupted by visions of Janosha, and

[17:28] he decides to return home.

[17:30] >> It is time I return to my X-Men.

[17:34] >> The X-Men bury Gambit and are still

[17:35] reeling from the aftermath of Janosha.

[17:37] Nightcrawler has joined the team,

[17:39] helping them dig Meline's body out of

[17:40] the rubble. While Rogue tries to hunt

[17:42] down the people responsible, Roberto and

[17:46] wealthy mother admits that she always

[17:48] knew he was a mutant. But she still

[17:49] wants him to keep his abilities a

[17:51] secret.

[17:52] >> Have you tried not being a mutant?

[17:55] >> The X-Men successfully hunt down Bolivar

[17:57] Tras, but after Rogue throws him off a

[17:58] building, he is resurrected as a living

[18:00] sentinel.

[18:01] >> What in the name of all heaven?

[18:03] >> It turns out that someone else has been

[18:05] behind all of these events. This

[18:07] somebody killed Guy, and he's holding

[18:08] Magneto captive. And his name is

[18:11] Bastion. He was born as a mutant with

[18:13] Nimrod's advanced technology attached to

[18:15] his body, giving him the abilities of a

[18:17] technopath to control machines. And he

[18:19] has a plan to end mutant kind. Cable

[18:22] returns to explain what's at stake. In

[18:24] the future, Bastion builds an army of

[18:26] humanoid sentinels, and mankind is

[18:27] enslaved to build a human utopia.

[18:29] >> So, another dystopia where Logan's the

[18:31] last to die. Cable has tried to prevent

[18:34] this future, but we learned that Janosha

[18:35] is what's called an absolute point in

[18:37] time that can never be altered. More

[18:40] importantly, it's revealed that he is

[18:41] actually Scott and Jean's son, Nathan

[18:43] from the distant future, although he's

[18:44] got a chip on his shoulder about this at

[18:46] first.

[18:47] >> A couple centuries late in the

[18:48] overprotective dad bit, huh?

[18:50] >> Both of you, stop it.

[18:51] >> All around the world, the Sentinels are

[18:53] activated and the divided X-Men fight

[18:55] them off on several fronts. The

[18:56] Sentinels wreck the X-Mansion and Cable

[18:58] begins to accept his long-lost family.

[19:00] Let's show these toasters why you don't

[19:02] screw at the summers.

[19:04] >> It turns out that Mr. Sinister has been

[19:06] working for Bastion to help create these

[19:07] organic sentinels. And Bastion also has

[19:10] the support of the world's governments.

[19:11] However, UN worker Val Cooper has a

[19:13] change of heart and frees Magneto from

[19:15] Bastion's jail because she has a

[19:17] realization.

[19:18] >> Magneto was right.

[19:22] >> Enough.

[19:24] >> Magneto goes into space, resurrecting

[19:26] his base, Asteroid M, and knocks out all

[19:28] of the electronics on planet Earth.

[19:30] temporarily shutting down the Organic

[19:31] Sentinels. Charles then returns to Earth

[19:33] and finds that the X-Men resent his

[19:35] absence and that he gave control of the

[19:36] team to a super villain.

[19:38] >> Well, you were wrong.

[19:39] >> Magneto then arrives at the X-Manssion

[19:41] and offers the team a choice to defect

[19:43] and join his war against humanity. And

[19:45] Rogue and Sunspot accept his offer.

[19:47] Beast and Forge create a power dampener

[19:49] to defeat Bastion. And they decide to

[19:51] fight a war on two fronts. One team will

[19:53] take out Magneto while the other fights

[19:55] off Bastion.

[19:56] >> Am I going to war or a circus? What' you

[19:59] expect? Black leather

[20:01] >> on Asteroid M. Magneto lashes out

[20:03] against Wolverine, ripping the

[20:04] adamanthium from his body and forcing

[20:07] Charles to shut down his mind and enter

[20:09] Magneto's psyche. So, this reactivates

[20:11] all the electronics on Earth and unlocks

[20:13] all of the organic sentinels, just as

[20:14] Mr. Sinister takes control of Cable and

[20:16] forces him to fight Gene. Bastion helped

[20:19] his army of Sentinels attack all over

[20:20] Earth and announces his plans to control

[20:22] every world government.

[20:24] >> Tolerance is extinction.

[20:28] Then when all seems lost, Gene calls on

[20:30] the power of the phoenix to burn the

[20:31] mutant DNA out of Sinister, making him

[20:33] look his age.

[20:34] >> And just die already.

[20:37] Die.

[20:38] >> And then she places the dampener on

[20:39] Bastion, which ends his control of the

[20:41] organic sentinels. But Bastion will not

[20:43] accept defeat. He rips off Cable's arm,

[20:46] hits him with it a little bit, and then

[20:47] uses it to evolve into a higher form.

[20:49] His new plan is to hurl Asteroid M at

[20:52] Earth to destroy everyone on the planet.

[20:54] >> They stole IT FROM ME, CARMINE. THEY

[20:56] TOOK IT. THAT WAS TODAY. TODAY

[20:59] >> IN SPACE, the X-Men fight off Bastion

[21:01] while the world governments decide to

[21:02] send nuclear weapons to destroy Asteroid

[21:05] M.

[21:05] >> New gun.

[21:06] >> This plan fails. Asteroid M is still

[21:08] falling to Earth and it's soon to be

[21:09] destroyed. But then Scott tries to

[21:11] reason with Bastion, explaining that,

[21:13] hey, you're a mutant just like us.

[21:15] >> You're not alone.

[21:16] >> But Bastion would rather destroy the

[21:18] world than admit who he really is.

[21:20] Bastion disappears in an explosion, but

[21:22] Asteroid M is still hurtling toward

[21:23] Earth. So, the X-Men decide to sacrifice

[21:25] themselves to save the world. So, Scott

[21:27] and Jean share one last telepathic

[21:29] conversation with their son.

[21:30] >> They're good eyes.

[21:32] >> And now they're yours.

[21:35] I love you, son.

[21:37] >> This whole time, Charles has been inside

[21:38] Magneto's mind where they finally come

[21:40] to an understanding and decide to work

[21:42] together.

[21:42] >> A dream that made us a family. And like

[21:46] that dream, any family worth having is

[21:49] worth fighting for. Eric wakes up, helps

[21:52] the X-Men stop the asteroid, but then

[21:54] everyone mysteriously disappears. 6

[21:56] months later, Bishop arrives at the

[21:57] X-Mansion to tell Forge that the X-Men

[21:59] are lost in time. Then we see 3,000

[22:02] years in the past that rogue

[22:03] Nightcrawler Xavier and Magneto arrive

[22:05] in ancient Egypt to encounter a young

[22:07] apocalypse.

[22:08] >> My name is N Sabanor.

[22:12] Thousands of years in the future, Scott

[22:14] and Gene meet young Nathan while in the

[22:16] present day, Apocalypse visits the ashes

[22:18] of Janosha and digs one of Gambit's

[22:20] playing cards out of the Rebel.
