06:15[00:00] this is everything you need to know
[00:01] about YouTube monetization I'm going to
[00:03] cover the different ways that you can
[00:04] make money on YouTube itself once you
[00:07] meet the YouTube Partner program
[00:09] requirements now obviously there's other
[00:10] ways you can make money off the back of
[00:12] your YouTube channel as well and I've
[00:14] got links in the description if you want
[00:15] to dive further into that after this
[00:18] video so in this video we're looking at
[00:20] how YouTube itself pays you so in order
[00:22] to get paid by YouTube you do need to be
[00:24] in the YouTube Partner program and
[00:26] there's actually now two tiers of the
[00:29] program there is a a lower tier and a
[00:31] higher tier so to be eligible for the
[00:33] lower tier you do need to have 500
[00:35] subscribers you need to have three
[00:38] public video uploads in the last 90 days
[00:41] and you also need to have either 3,000
[00:43] public watch hours in the past 12 months
[00:46] or 3 million public shorts views in the
[00:49] last 90 days you also need to be in a
[00:51] country or region that supports the
[00:53] YouTube Partner program so once you've
[00:54] reached this level and you've applied to
[00:56] be in the program you've been accepted
[00:58] this is going to unlock supers for you
[01:01] so super chat super stickers and super
[01:04] thanks and this is really at the core of
[01:06] YouTube fan funding so your fans your
[01:09] followers your viewers have the ability
[01:11] to either donate to you via chat so
[01:14] super chat so while your live viewers of
[01:16] that live stream can send you a promoted
[01:19] or boosted chat message which also
[01:21] includes a tip or a donation for you as
[01:24] well with an amount that they specify on
[01:27] their end very similar to this is super
[01:29] stickers again again while you're live
[01:31] so you need to be doing a live stream
[01:32] that your viewers can send you a sticker
[01:36] which also has a monetary value
[01:38] associated with it again think a tip or
[01:40] donation from your viewers but it also
[01:43] unlocks super thanks which essentially
[01:45] gives you the ability to have that same
[01:47] capability but not while you're live so
[01:50] you can actually have a thanks button
[01:52] that will appear under your regular
[01:53] YouTube videos that at any time when
[01:55] someone's consuming your content they
[01:57] can click on that they can send you a
[01:59] message as you would a YouTube comment
[02:02] and they can specify how much money they
[02:04] want to donate or send you at that point
[02:07] and all of these super chats super
[02:09] stickers and super thanks they're all
[02:11] designed to stand out on your content as
[02:13] well so it highlights the viewer their
[02:15] message or their sticker so that they
[02:17] stand out there as well this lower tier
[02:19] of the YouTube Partner program also
[02:21] unlocks YouTube channel memberships
[02:23] think of this like your own patreon or
[02:26] buy me a coffee but built directly into
[02:29] YouTube so the way this works is you as
[02:31] the channel owner can enable Channel
[02:33] memberships and then you can create
[02:35] different tiers or monetary amounts that
[02:38] people will pay you on a recurring basis
[02:40] to be a channel member and each one of
[02:42] these tiers that you create could be
[02:44] different amounts but also offer
[02:46] different perks as YouTube calls them so
[02:49] a perk could be something like access to
[02:51] exclusive live streams access to
[02:53] exclusive Community posts exclusive
[02:56] content there's also ways to integrate
[02:58] this with external platforms as as well
[03:00] for even sharing course content or
[03:02] deeper dive stuff but this can be a
[03:04] great recurring Revenue model for you
[03:07] where it makes it easy for your viewers
[03:09] to support you if they like what you're
[03:11] doing and obviously to get access to
[03:13] some of these perks that you offer too
[03:15] that's probably worth noting that while
[03:16] you get access to all of these things at
[03:18] these different levels you definitely
[03:20] don't need to have them all set up and
[03:22] running you get to choose and that's
[03:24] what I love about this is that you can
[03:26] build the business or the revenue
[03:28] streams that you want off this so if
[03:30] YouTube channel memberships sounds like
[03:31] a nightmare for you to run and to set up
[03:34] all the perks or whatever then you don't
[03:36] need to do it but there's an opportunity
[03:38] there for you now in terms of the fan
[03:39] funding options that we've covered so
[03:41] far with Channel memberships and the
[03:43] supers you as the channel owner get to
[03:46] keep 70% of that Revenue after YouTube
[03:49] takes a 30% cut and the last thing that
[03:51] you unlock on this lower tier YouTube
[03:54] Partner program is YouTube shopping
[03:56] again only if this is actually
[03:58] functional and accessible in your
[04:00] country or region but this is where
[04:02] you'll have the ability to promote and
[04:03] sell your own products or merchandise
[04:06] directly on YouTube and when you set
[04:08] this up you can actually have your own
[04:09] products and things showing up beneath
[04:11] your videos but also while you're live
[04:13] too now to set this up this is where you
[04:15] will need to be using an approved
[04:16] platform something like Shopify there's
[04:19] other options as well and obviously have
[04:21] your products and everything set up for
[04:22] sale on that and it's going to create a
[04:24] link between the two for you so that's
[04:26] what's available right now in the lower
[04:28] tier of the YouTube Partner program but
[04:30] if you're in that program and you're
[04:32] progressing through your channel still
[04:33] growing then once you reach the
[04:36] requirements to enable the full tier you
[04:38] don't need to reapply because you're
[04:40] already in just those extra features are
[04:42] going to unlock so to be eligible to
[04:44] join the full YouTube Partner program
[04:46] the top tier this is where you will need
[04:48] to have 1,000 subscribers on your
[04:50] channel you'll need to have 4,000 hours
[04:53] of public watch time in the past 12
[04:55] months or you'll need to have 10 million
[04:58] valid public short views in the past 90
[05:01] days now your channel will also need to
[05:03] be in good standing with YouTube as well
[05:05] meaning that you're compliant with
[05:06] YouTube's monetization policies no
[05:09] Community guidelines strikes that you
[05:11] have an AdSense account set up as well
[05:13] but once you're in there and once you're
[05:14] accepted this is when you can turn on
[05:16] YouTube ad revenue and this is the most
[05:18] popular way that people make money from
[05:20] YouTube It's the biggest way that we
[05:22] make money from YouTube paying us
[05:24] themselves so in this higher tier
[05:26] obviously you get access to all of the
[05:28] supers the shopping and the memberships
[05:31] from the lower tier as well and you get
[05:33] to enable YouTube ads but this is also
[05:35] where you get extra revenue from things
[05:38] like YouTube premium so for anyone that
[05:39] is consuming your content that does have
[05:42] a YouTube premium account where they're
[05:44] not seeing ads then this is where your
[05:46] content can earn a portion of that
[05:48] subscription fee based on watch time and
[05:51] this is automatically set up and managed
[05:53] by YouTube themselves and you'll be able
[05:55] to view your earnings from ad revenue
[05:57] and from YouTube premium Revenue in your
[06:00] YouTube analytics now in terms of a
[06:02] revenue split or cut from the ad side of
[06:05] YouTube this is where it's around 55%
[06:07] that the creators get to have whereas
[06:09] the rest the 45 goes to YouTube
[06:12] obviously that's after fees and
[06:13] everything as well YouTube are also
[06:15] currently testing and slowly rolling out
[06:18] YouTube shopping Affiliates for people
[06:20] in the higher partner program as well so
[06:22] with this you don't need to have your
[06:24] own products that you can use with
[06:26] YouTube shopping your own merchandise or
[06:28] whatever this gives the ability to
[06:30] promote and to help sell other products
[06:32] and things that you don't own that you
[06:34] don't need to have in a warehouse and
[06:36] ship out or any of that stuff you can be
[06:38] an affiliate for these products so if
[06:40] you're mentioning them in your video
[06:42] then they can show up below it where
[06:44] people can buy that product from Amazon
[06:46] or wherever it is and you can earn an
[06:48] affiliate commission from that too I
[06:49] think this is absolutely awesome and I
[06:51] can't wait to get access we don't have
[06:53] access yet I think right now this is
[06:55] only in the US but I really love the
[06:57] opportunity here for this and with
[06:59] YouTube shopping in general and it
[07:01] sounds like from what I've heard they've
[07:02] got a big push for this coming on the TV
[07:05] side of things too fingers crossed so
[07:07] those are the ways right now that you
[07:08] can make money from YouTube itself but
[07:11] there's other ways that you can make
[07:12] money from your YouTube channel and I've
[07:13] got some videos linked on screen to help
[07:15] you even further with that including
[07:18] affiliate Revenue which is my favorite
[07:20] as always check out the links in the
[07:21] description below for more links more
[07:22] resources to help you even further and I
[07:24] will see you in the next video cheers
