AI Summary

This video reveals three YouTube analytics that are useful even for brand new channels, focusing on suggested video traffic, the most replayed graph, and the audience tab. The presenter demonstrates with a client's channel that started days ago, showing how to interpret these metrics to align content with the algorithm and audience.

[0:04]
Suggested Video Traffic for New Channels

Even a channel with 129 views, 10 subscribers, and 2.6 hours of watch time can use suggested video traffic to see if the algorithm correctly classifies the channel. 50% of traffic came from suggested videos.

[1:05]
Validating Niche Targeting

The presenter and client independently audited their niche and created competitor lists. The suggested videos list showed that at least 90% of the videos suggesting their content were from those targeted channels, confirming correct targeting.

[3:35]
Action: If Suggested Videos Don't Match

If less than 70% of suggested videos match your target audience, make your content more obvious by aligning words, title, thumbnail, and first line of description with the intended audience.

[4:22]
Most Replayed Graph

The most replayed graph shows which parts of a video are rewatched most. Useful for analyzing competitor videos to understand what engages their audience, even without a channel.

[5:12]
Interpreting High and Low Points

High points often come from chapters, skipping sponsored segments, visuals, jokes, or big reveals. A flat graph indicates continuous viewing and good retention.

[6:32]
Returning vs New Viewers Graph

Low returning viewers means people aren't coming back; invite them to watch more. Low new viewers means channel isn't growing; try new ideas and improve video quality.

By using suggested video traffic, the most replayed graph, and the audience tab, small channels can gain early insights into algorithm classification, audience engagement, and growth opportunities.

[00:04] this video is different because these

[00:06] are analytics that you can use even if

[00:07] your channel is literally Brand New by

[00:10] showing you what I'm doing with a

[00:11] channel that started days ago howdy

[00:14] howdy everyone Nate here the First

[00:15] YouTube analytic we're going to be

[00:16] looking at here is your suggested video

[00:19] traffic and I'm going to be showing you

[00:20] with a client's channel that just

[00:22] started days ago here's why we're going

[00:24] to be using suggested videos because it

[00:26] gives you an early indicator of whether

[00:28] your channel is being classified

[00:30] correctly by the algorithm and we can do

[00:32] that even with a channel like this that

[00:33] has 129 views uh 10 subscribers and 2.6

[00:37] hours of watch time so what you're going

[00:39] to do is Click analytics then click

[00:41] content up here at the top and you're

[00:42] going to scroll down to this box how

[00:44] viewers find your videos and we're going

[00:46] to click suggested videos now what this

[00:48] shows is as of right now on this channel

[00:50] about 50% of all the total traffic on

[00:52] the channel is coming from these

[00:54] suggested videos YouTube is suggesting

[00:56] these videos from this channel to other

[00:58] viewers of other channels videos and I'm

[01:01] going to show you why this is so

[01:02] significant by sharing a crazy story

[01:05] here you see with Chris who owns this

[01:07] channel we each independently did a form

[01:09] of auditing our Niche auditing the niche

[01:12] that we're trying to Target with this

[01:13] Channel and if you want to know how to

[01:14] do that on your own channel I made a

[01:16] video about it I'm going to put up here

[01:17] for you to watch after this we each came

[01:18] up with a list of competitors or

[01:21] channels that had the audience we wanted

[01:22] to capture with this channel now there

[01:25] was overlap between the two lists that

[01:27] we created which was already cool to see

[01:29] but then when we came to the suggested

[01:31] videos on this channel brand new channel

[01:34] look at what we found if you go down

[01:36] here and you click see more you're going

[01:38] to pull up this which gives you a list

[01:42] of all of the videos suggesting your

[01:45] videos so stepping back here why this is

[01:47] so significant these videos each of the

[01:50] videos on this list are a video that

[01:52] already existed on YouTube that the

[01:54] algorithm has seen and said this new

[01:57] channel this channel we're looking at

[01:58] right now has a video and we think that

[02:01] it might be similar to the videos on

[02:04] this other already existing Channel it

[02:06] might be similar enough to suggest it in

[02:08] the sidebar if they're watching on

[02:10] desktop or below the video if they

[02:11] scroll down on mobile so here you can

[02:13] see the total Impressions given to these

[02:16] similar videos as well as the

[02:17] clickthrough rate and the actual amount

[02:19] of views garnered from these videos that

[02:21] already exist on YouTube here is why

[02:23] this is so valuable to me those lists

[02:25] you remember those lists that Chris and

[02:26] I came up with that we were targeting

[02:28] these audiences on YouTube then number

[02:30] of videos here that were from those

[02:32] channels was mindblowing meaning we had

[02:35] intentionally targeted these areas with

[02:37] the content the metadata and the topics

[02:39] the titles and thumbnails of videos that

[02:41] we produced to match these already

[02:43] existing audiences so we could quickly

[02:45] show the YouTube algorithm this is our

[02:48] audience on YouTube this this is the

[02:50] audience we're trying to Target because

[02:52] we're trying to help them out and what

[02:53] the suggested list is showing us or

[02:55] showing you even if you have a very

[02:57] small channel is how clear clearly the

[03:00] algorithm is classifying your content

[03:02] and as I scroll through this list of

[03:03] suggested videos that the YouTube

[03:04] algorithm is serving this Channel's

[03:06] content to at least 90% of them are

[03:09] exactly on point let me put it this way

[03:11] if you have a larger Channel with a more

[03:13] significant volume of views on your

[03:15] channel YouTube adds some very important

[03:17] and interesting boxes to your analytics

[03:19] one being other videos your audience is

[03:21] watching most recently and two being

[03:23] other channels your audience is watching

[03:25] small YouTube channels unfortunately

[03:27] don't have access to those until they

[03:29] get a critical mass of viewership but

[03:31] what they do have what you do have is

[03:34] this so let's get into some actions here

[03:35] as you're looking at this on your own

[03:36] channel here's what to do if you look at

[03:38] these suggested videos and at least 70%

[03:41] of them are not matching the type of

[03:42] audience you're trying to gather on your

[03:44] channel you need to make it more obvious

[03:45] with your video content and one of the

[03:47] best ways I have found to do that is

[03:48] during the entire production of your

[03:50] video think of it in terms of this what

[03:52] is the audience I'm trying to match with

[03:55] my video and let me make sure I make it

[03:57] abundantly clear in the words I speak in

[03:59] my video as well as the title and

[04:01] thumbnail especially and the first line

[04:03] of the description this is what this

[04:05] video is about make it super super clear

[04:08] to make sure your video as you're

[04:09] targeting the metadata or the content of

[04:11] the video itself does match the audience

[04:13] you want all right it's time to move on

[04:14] to the next analytic here first if

[04:16] you're enjoying this video it's being

[04:17] helpful or eye opening to you boop the

[04:19] like button on it thank you for doing

[04:20] that the next YouTube analytic we're

[04:22] going to be looking at here especially

[04:24] for new YouTubers or smaller channels is

[04:28] the most replayed graph I'm going to

[04:30] pull up one of my older videos to show

[04:32] you this if you hover over a video and

[04:34] you see the gray Hills and Valleys part

[04:37] below the video now why is this so

[04:39] useful especially for smaller YouTube

[04:41] channels it's because you can do it even

[04:42] if you don't have a YouTube channel you

[04:44] see what you're going to do is after

[04:45] you've audited your Niche and understood

[04:47] your Niche better shout out to the video

[04:49] you should watch after this all about

[04:50] that but once you've identified these

[04:52] channels is you can then go to their

[04:54] videos and see which parts the audience

[04:56] is liking the most this right here

[04:58] literally shows which which parts of the

[05:00] video the audience that watch this video

[05:02] of all the thousands of views that

[05:04] watched it which parts were watched the

[05:06] most you can also use this on your own

[05:08] videos as you get more viewership but

[05:10] the main thing we're looking for here is

[05:12] the high points especially on this

[05:15] viewership I'm going to talk about what

[05:16] to do with those high points here in a

[05:17] moment but first I wanted to address the

[05:19] opposite I have watched a lot of videos

[05:21] that seem to have a pretty low Point

[05:24] throughout most of the video in fact I

[05:26] was trying to find an example so I could

[05:27] show you here but many of these videos

[05:29] have pretty low for the entirety of the

[05:32] video now what does that mean does that

[05:34] mean that most people don't like the

[05:35] video I actually do not think that it

[05:37] does a more flattened out Hills and

[05:39] Valleys on this indicator more means

[05:42] that people are choosing to watch for

[05:43] continuous segments of the video they're

[05:46] not jumping around as much which if

[05:47] you're following me means that that

[05:49] creator for the amount of views that

[05:51] they have is retaining audience really

[05:54] well but for the high points these are

[05:55] some of the hints the reasons why you

[05:57] see big spikes in videos first first if

[05:59] there's chapters in the videos people

[06:01] tend to jump from chapter to chapter

[06:02] that might cause those high points two

[06:04] if it's after a sponsored segment of the

[06:06] video a lot of people skip ahead on

[06:07] sponsored segments three if a visual is

[06:10] being shown in the video people are more

[06:12] likely to as they are scrubbing through

[06:13] the video say oh there was something

[06:15] something happened right there I'm going

[06:17] to jump to that section four a joke was

[06:19] shared that people need to go back and

[06:20] watch again and five a peak moment or a

[06:22] big reveal happening in the video all

[06:24] right now we're on the bonus round I

[06:26] debated including this in here but I'm

[06:27] going to do it because it's just so dang

[06:30] helpful what we're looking at is your

[06:32] audience tab up here go ahead and click

[06:34] audience this graph returning viewers

[06:37] versus new viewers you've got to

[06:39] understand this graph because it gives

[06:40] you indicators of what to do next with

[06:43] your content if your returning viewers

[06:45] is consistently low it means people

[06:47] aren't choosing to come back to your

[06:48] channel so what do you do about that you

[06:50] invite them to watch other videos on

[06:52] your channel and you give them clear

[06:53] reasons to watch the next video and if

[06:56] you want a meta example of that well

[06:58] what have I done earlier on in this

[06:59] video go back and rewatch and see if you

[07:00] can catch what I did but also what you

[07:02] want to do here and not many people talk

[07:04] about this is you want to make sure you

[07:06] have a feeling of Welcome in your videos

[07:09] that when people arrive to your videos

[07:11] they can understand quickly what they're

[07:13] about and feel like they're in the right

[07:15] place and if it would be valuable to you

[07:17] to have a whole video about what I just

[07:18] said please do let me know all right now

[07:20] if your new viewers is consistently low

[07:22] or lower than your returning viewers

[07:24] what that means is your channel isn't

[07:26] growing I say that partially in just but

[07:29] the reality is a YouTube channel that is

[07:31] not acquiring new viewership is on a

[07:33] steady decline so what you need to do if

[07:35] you're seeing a consistently low amount

[07:37] of new viewership is you have to Branch

[07:40] out and start trying new ideas the

[07:42] number of new viewers that are arriving

[07:43] and using the YouTube platform

[07:45] consistently goes up I'm not even

[07:46] talking about new creators that are

[07:48] trying to build or create or share

[07:49] content I'm talking about viewership

[07:51] just people watching YouTube that number

[07:53] is always going up and attention is

[07:54] always moving from one location to

[07:56] another on YouTube so a channel that is

[07:58] not a acquiring new viewership is

[08:01] stagnating because of that okay so if

[08:03] that's happening to you first try new

[08:05] ideas try some fresh ideas to get new

[08:07] audience in second improve the quality

[08:09] of your videos if your videos aren't

[08:10] showing good watch time or watch

[08:12] percentage then that means that they

[08:14] probably aren't as enjoyable as your

[08:15] competitors so now I'm going to say it

[08:18] everyone if you want to know the process

[08:20] that Chris and I went through to get

[08:21] these early wins of the suggested

[08:23] traffic to that channel you're going to

[08:25] want to watch this video

[08:28] next

[08:31] and hey don't forget to check out this

[08:35] video
