AI Summary

Anthropic, despite previously calling for a coordinated pause on frontier AI development, has released Claude Fable, its most powerful model, which has been heavily lobbomized and is being hailed by some as a 'singularity moment.' The video examines whether the hype around Fable is justified or just a marketing push ahead of a potential public offering.

[0:00]
Anthropic's Contradiction

Last week Anthropic begged AI labs to pause development, but this week they released Claude Fable, the most powerful AI model ever.

[0:18]
Claude Fable's Launch

Claude Fable is a 'mythos-class model' that has been lobbomized for safe consumption, with guardrails that block requests in sensitive areas like cyber security and biology.

[0:30]
Singularity Claims

Smart people are calling Fable their 'singularity moment,' with the creator of the programming language 'Bend' saying it exceeded his expectations.

[0:32]
Performance vs. GPT 5.5

Fable embarrasses GPT 5.5 on the 'Trust Me Bro' coding benchmarks, suggesting superior coding ability.

[0:42]
Google Gemini as AltaVista

The presenter compares the current AI landscape to 2003 when Google overtook Yahoo, with Google's Gemini playing the role of AltaVista.

[1:57]
Differences from Claude Opus 4.8

Fable is twice as expensive ($50 per million output tokens vs $25 for Opus) and is available on paid Claude plans only until June 22, then per token. It is fundamentally the same model as Mythos 5 but with a stricter 'muzzle' (classifier models) that redirects sensitive queries to Opus 4.8.

[2:53]
Positive Developer Reviews

Initial reviews from software engineers are very positive, with one developer reporting massive performance improvements in their code.

[3:11]
Hands-On Test: Horse Tinder UI

The presenter tested Fable for UI design for his app 'Horse Tinder'. After 20 minutes, Fable demanded more payment, but the preview showed a stunning UI with realistic SVG horses and Tinder-style swipe animations.

[4:03]
Creative Touches

The generated UI included creative elements like 'yay or nay' and 'strictly confidential' to impress investors.

[4:10]
Render Sponsorship

Render is a cloud platform for developers, sponsoring the video, that allows building and deploying apps without managing infrastructure.

Claude Fable appears to be a genuinely powerful AI model, particularly in coding and UI design, but its hype may be amplified by marketing tactics and a potential IPO. The presenter's test showed impressive results, but also a paywall mid-task, hinting at commercial strategies.

Clickbait Check

75% Legit

"The title is largely accurate as Anthropic did both call for a pause and release a new model, though the implication of a sudden reversal is slightly exaggerated for dramatic effect."

[00:00] Last week, Anthropic stood on the global

[00:02] stage and begged the world's AI labs to

[00:04] install a coordinated brake pedal on

[00:06] Frontier AI development because they're

[00:08] terrified that models are getting

[00:10] dangerously close to recursive

[00:11] self-improvement. But this week, they

[00:13] threw the pause button in the wood

[00:14] chipper and slammed the gas pedal

[00:16] through the floor by releasing the most

[00:18] powerful AI model the world has ever

[00:20] seen. Its name is Claude Fable, a

[00:22] mythosclass model that's been carefully

[00:24] lobbomized for safe consumption by the

[00:26] average NPC. Despite the guardrails,

[00:29] smart people are calling this their

[00:30] singularity moment. And Fable absolutely

[00:32] embarrasses GPT 5.5 on the Trust Me Bro

[00:36] coding benchmarks. Right now feels like

[00:37] 2003 when Google was overtaking Yahoo as

[00:40] the dominant search engine. And

[00:42] coincidentally, Google's Gemini is like

[00:44] Ulta Vista in this analogy. We're living

[00:46] through another iteration of the hype

[00:47] cycle. But is Fable actually legit? Or

[00:50] is it just a move to pump up the numbers

[00:52] before Anthropic goes public? I've been

[00:54] poking it with a stick for the last few

[00:55] hours and in today's video, we'll find

[00:57] out if Fable is the real deal. It is

[00:59] June 11th, 2026, and you're watching the

[01:02] Code Report. This week is historic. On

[01:04] Friday, SpaceX will go public and a new

[01:06] world order will emerge. Fang is long

[01:08] gone. Gay Man is dead, and we're about

[01:10] to enter the age of gay manos, which is

[01:13] Mexican for gay hands. But Anthropic is

[01:15] the most interesting company with the

[01:17] most interesting logo in this list. And

[01:19] it's interesting that they named one

[01:20] model mythos as in myth and another

[01:22] fable which implies that it's not real.

[01:25] >> I don't give two but I am telling you

[01:28] right now that mother that motheruck

[01:32] back there is not real.

[01:34] >> It's almost like they're trolling us

[01:35] with these names like that time Neil A

[01:37] went to the moon or when Sam Bankman got

[01:39] fried or when Anthony Weiner showed

[01:41] people his we don't need to go there but

[01:43] you get the point. Oh, and a quick side

[01:44] note. As Sam Bankman Freed was an early

[01:46] investor in Anthropic and owned an 8%

[01:49] stake at one point. Had he given up on

[01:50] the crypto grifting and just sat on that

[01:52] investment, he'd be one of the richest

[01:54] people alive right now and not in

[01:55] prison. Hindsight is 2020, but how does

[01:57] Claude Fable differ from Claude Opus

[02:00] 4.8, which was just released a few weeks

[02:02] ago itself? Well, first of all, it's

[02:03] twice as expensive at $50 million per

[02:06] output token or no, $50 per million

[02:08] output tokens versus $25 for Opus. But

[02:11] another caveat is that if you have a

[02:13] paid claw plan right now, you can use

[02:15] Fable until June 22nd, after which point

[02:17] it will be removed and can only be used

[02:19] on a per token basis. That's a genius

[02:22] marketing move to get people FOMO

[02:23] subscribed to Claude. But is it really

[02:25] that much better than Opus? Well, Fable

[02:27] 5 is literally the same underlying model

[02:29] as Mythos 5. The only difference is the

[02:32] muzzle. It has a set of classifier

[02:34] models that will watch every query you

[02:35] make. And if you wander into cyber

[02:37] security, biology, chemistry, or of

[02:40] course, model distillation, your request

[02:42] gets nuked and answered by Claude Opus

[02:44] 4.8 instead. And that means Chinese

[02:46] models like Deep Seek and Kimmy won't be

[02:49] able to give us a free and open-source

[02:50] Fableclass model anytime soon. Now,

[02:53] among software engineers, the initial

[02:54] reviews are very positive, but one of

[02:56] the strongest endorsements I've seen

[02:58] comes from the guy who created Bend, a

[03:00] programming language for GPUs. He called

[03:02] this his personal singularity moment

[03:04] after Fable ripped through his code and

[03:06] implemented massive performance

[03:07] improvements. There are many other

[03:09] stories like this, but I was skeptical,

[03:11] so I tried it out for myself. I was

[03:12] recently rejected by Y Combinator trying

[03:14] to get funding for my app, Horse Tinder.

[03:17] They said the idea was brilliant, but

[03:18] the UI would never work because horses

[03:20] don't have fingers. Well, let's find out

[03:22] if Fable can create a better UI than a

[03:24] human with 20 years of web development

[03:26] experience. I put Fable on max effort

[03:28] mode and told it to come up with a UI

[03:30] that looks like it was created by an

[03:32] elite designer. After about 20 minutes

[03:33] of working, I was shocked by the result.

[03:35] I got a pop-up window demanding I pay

[03:37] more money for Fable to finish the job.

[03:39] I felt like I was getting scammed by a

[03:41] developer on Elance, but luckily we

[03:43] could see some of its work in progress.

[03:45] It created this absolutely gorgeous UI.

[03:47] And one of the most impressive things is

[03:48] that the SVG horse actually looks like a

[03:51] horse and not just a bunch of random

[03:53] shapes. AI typically has a hard time

[03:55] generating vector graphics, but all the

[03:57] icons in this UI look great, and it even

[03:59] nailed the Tinder style drag animation

[04:01] when swiping left or right. It also has

[04:03] some nice creative touches like yay or

[04:05] nay, and even put the word strictly

[04:07] confidential at the bottom to make this

[04:08] app seem special to investors. I'm

[04:10] highly confident this will make YC 2027,

[04:13] especially when combined with Render,

[04:15] the sponsor of today's video. It's a

[04:16] cloud platform for developers that lets

[04:19] you ship production-grade apps and

[04:20] agents without managing infrastructure.

[04:23] That's because it runs your whole stack

[04:24] in one place with your web services,

[04:27] Postgress, cron jobs, and workers all

[04:29] wired together by default. So you only

[04:31] need to worry about one dashboard and

[04:33] one mental model. You start by just

[04:36] connecting a repo and pushing your code.

[04:38] Then render will build and deploy

[04:39] automatically. It autoscales with you up

[04:42] to millions of users with a full

[04:43] observability stack built in. And if

[04:45] you're building an AI app, Render

[04:47] Workflows gives you an execution engine

[04:49] that will automatically retry when

[04:51] something fails, so your agents don't

[04:53] crash and burn on a long-running task.

[04:55] Over 6 million developers use Render

[04:57] today, and the first 2,000 people to

[04:59] enter this promo code will get $50 in

[05:02] free credits. This has been the Code

[05:03] Report. Thanks for watching, and I will

[05:05] see you in the next one.
