My Health Declined from Sitting All Day
47sRelatable confession about health decline from desk work triggers empathy and curiosity.
βΆ Play ClipThe creator shares a personal journey of building a standing desk from reclaimed lumber with a motorized base, driven by health issues from prolonged sitting and a desire to reconnect with hands-on work. The project uses materials from family members, imbuing it with sentimental value.
The creator finds inspiration for movement and creativity by walking on the driveway, picking up pine cones, and pacing to align thoughts.
Sitting at a desk for long periods has led to mild scoliosis in the spine, reduced creativity, and overall health decline.
The creator decides to reduce computer time and maximize outdoor activities, while building a standing desk to allow standing while working.
The lumber used is from an adopted grandfather, and hand planes from both the creator's grandfather and Molly's great-grandfather are used, adding deep personal meaning to the project.
The desk turns out amazing, with water-stained lumber cleaned up into a sleek modern design. The motorized base offers a wide height range and memory settings.
The project successfully combines practical health solutions with personal sentiment, resulting in a beautiful standing desk that honors family heirlooms and promotes a healthier work lifestyle.
"The title is slightly exaggerated; although the desk is built from scratch, it uses a pre-fabricated motorized base, not entirely from scratch."

[00:02] below to start a more productive home
[00:04] office for yourself with physibo
[00:07] it's nearly been two years since Molly
[00:09] and I moved into our first home and I
[00:11] never would have thought this ragged old
[00:13] driveway would provide the solution to
[00:14] so many problems and the source of much
[00:16] needed inspiration
[00:18] I find myself taking a stray pine cone
[00:20] and open down the tire tracks anytime my
[00:22] mind wanders
[00:24] Molly finds it amusing that I'm a Pacer
[00:26] I guess I've always been this way my
[00:28] body just needs a way to keep up with my
[00:30] thoughts and conversations if not I'm
[00:33] fidgety and noticeably uncomfortable
[00:36] making things has always provided me
[00:38] with the movement and thought I need
[00:40] lately however I've spent the majority
[00:42] of my time on a computer sitting at a
[00:44] desk day after day hinders my ability to
[00:47] create and has taken a toll in my body
[00:49] and mind my overall health has declined
[00:51] these past couple of years and I'm sure
[00:53] many of you can relate I recently found
[00:55] out the severity of this reality x-rays
[00:57] revealed a mild scoliosis forming in my
[00:59] spine certainly a product of the grind
[01:02] mentality the funny thing is I find the
[01:05] harder I work the less I actually
[01:06] complete and the more time I just spend
[01:09] analyzing things that changes today
[01:12] I'm committed to reducing the time I
[01:14] spend on the computer and maximizing the
[01:16] time spent Outdoors doing the things I
[01:18] love
[01:18] the unfortunate reality for many of us
[01:20] is that we can't get fully away from our
[01:22] computers and so today I aim to kill two
[01:25] birds with one stone I'm headed into the
[01:27] shop to build an imperfect desk a simple
[01:30] project one that will be complemented by
[01:32] a motorized base that will allow me to
[01:34] stand while I work I also aim to use
[01:36] Lumber that has a special place in my
[01:38] heart Lumber that is also imperfect but
[01:40] full of memories and inspiration

[09:20] for those of you that have made it this
[09:22] far into the video I just wanted to say
[09:24] thank you and I wanted to provide some
[09:26] more information about this project
[09:28] these two hand planes that I'm currently
[09:30] sharpening one of which is from my
[09:33] grandfather who I unfortunately never
[09:35] got to meet he passed away when my mom
[09:38] was very young but I am told that I get
[09:41] the majority of my making skills from
[09:44] him he was quite the Craftsman and could
[09:47] build pretty much anything and it's
[09:49] incredible that I get to use this
[09:52] airplane that was his and the other hand
[09:55] playing recently acquired is Molly's
[09:58] great grandfathers which is crazy it is
[10:02] a true pleasure to be able to work with
[10:04] these tools and so I'm giving them some
[10:06] new life by making sure I go through and
[10:08] sharpen them to the best of my ability
[10:10] I'll be using them on this project
[10:13] and the lumber actually of this project
[10:16] is from my grandfather who is not
[10:21] technically my grandfather he's more of
[10:22] an adopted grandfather but played that
[10:24] role in my life growing up and he
[10:27] unfortunately passed away and gave me
[10:30] some of the Slumber a while back and I
[10:32] wanted to use it on a project that meant
[10:35] something that I'll get to touch and see
[10:37] every day and so I decided this would be
[10:39] the perfect project but I'm sort of
[10:41] getting all of
[10:43] my grandfathers and Molly's grandfather
[10:46] involved in this project so it has a it
[10:49] has a lot of meeting and I hope you

[25:09] man I have to say this does turned out
[25:12] amazing so much better than I expected
[25:15] all of that water-stained old Lumber
[25:18] really cleaned up so nicely entered into
[25:20] this really Sleek modern desk I ended up
[25:23] finishing off this desk we're using the
[25:25] Gazebo Aurora Pro three-stage frame this
[25:28] is an awesome DIY solution if you want
[25:31] just the frame but it also has the
[25:33] ability to come in multiple different
[25:34] colors with different tops so if you're
[25:37] not interested in building one you can
[25:38] simply pick up a pre-made desk for
[25:40] yourself it ships in a small box it has
[25:43] dual motor a incredibly wide range of
[25:47] height adjustment as well as memory
[25:49] settings so that you can get this thing
[25:51] dialed in exactly where you want it and
[25:53] then quickly go back and forth between
[25:55] sit and stand and I mean just look at
[25:58] the range of this thing it's 24.4 inches
[26:01] all the way up to 49.6 inches just a
[26:04] super wide range for everything from
[26:06] children turn up to very tall people it
[26:10] also has a 275 pound weight capacity
[26:13] which is pretty insane and overall I
[26:16] just couldn't be happier with the way
[26:17] this turned out it's such a massive
[26:19] improvement over my last desk and if you
[26:21] are interested in any of the fazibo
[26:23] products be sure to check the links in
[26:24] the description below they do have some
[26:26] sales going on right now if you act
[26:27] quickly and with that guys thank you so
[26:30] much for watching this video I hope you
[26:32] enjoyed it and we will see you in the
