Nolan's Odyssey & Universal's Big Panel
35sHigh anticipation for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey generates strong interest among movie fans.
▶ Play ClipThe video is a live reaction stream from New Rockstars covering the Universal Pictures panel at CinemaCon 2025. The hosts discuss breaking news from the event, focusing on major reveals for Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey,' Steven Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day,' and other Universal projects. While initially hyped for 'Shrek 5' and other future installments, the panel largely centered on these two major 2026 releases, with no 'Shrek 5' trailer shown.
The hosts start the stream with off-topic chatter about body heat and greetings before settling into the main content.
The stream sets the stage for CinemaCon, explaining that it's an industry trade show for theater owners. They preview Universal's expected big reveals, including 'The Odyssey,' 'Minions and Monsters,' and potential films like 'The Mummy' and 'Fauler-in-law.'
The hosts share their excitement and predictions for 'Shrek 5,' hoping for a longer teaser or a two-part announcement. They also discuss other Universal properties like 'Kung Fu Panda 5' and 'How to Train Your Dragon 2.'
The stream uses tweets from Eric Voss, who is physically at the panel in Las Vegas, to relay live updates. He notes the panel is at maximum capacity, contrasting with earlier days, possibly due to the 'Nolan effect.'
Snoop Dogg takes the stage to announce a biopic he's producing with Universal and Brian Grazer, with Jonathan Davis cast as a young Snoop Dogg. The film will begin production in summer 2025 for a 2027 release.
Christopher Nolan presents 'The Odyssey,' revealing a massive cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, and more. He announces the film is shot 100% on IMAX, a first for him, making it the 'largest and sharpest' film in theaters.
Eric Voss provides a detailed description of the 'Odyssey' footage shown at the panel, including Odysseus washing ashore, the Trojan horse sequence, and a montage of intense moments. The description evokes 'Zero Dark Thirty in sandals.'
The hosts relay news from the panel about Universal's horror slate, including a trailer for 'Other Mommy' starring Jessica Chastain, described as having the tone of 'Smile 2,' and a red band trailer for 'Violent Night 2' with David Harbour getting bloody in a mall.
Steven Spielberg takes the stage to discuss 'Disclosure Day,' his 35th feature. He is presented with the America 250 award by the MPA. He discusses his personal belief in UAPs and how that inspired the film, promising more truth than fiction.
Eric Voss describes the new 'Disclosure Day' trailer shown at the panel, revealing key plot points: a crypto-security expert whistleblower, a meteorologist speaking alien clicks, and a possible connection to Spielberg's own 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind.'
The stream concludes with a recap of the day's events and a preview of the next day's Disney panel, which is expected to bring major news on 'Avengers: Doomsday' and other projects. The hosts sign off, encouraging viewers to tune in tomorrow.
The Universal panel was dominated by Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' and Steven Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day,' both of which were presented with massive hype and detailed footage. While some anticipated announcements like 'Shrek 5' did not materialize, the panel successfully built excitement for two of next year's biggest blockbusters.
"The title promised a live reaction to Universal's panel featuring Nolan, Shrek 5, and Spielberg, which was delivered, though 'Shrek 5' was only discussed as an unfulfilled hope, not a major reveal."

[07:58] and more laptops. This week is a very
[08:01] special week. Cineacon, the world's
[08:03] largest trade show for the motion
[08:04] picture theater industry is happening
[08:06] right now in Las Vegas. Eric Voss and
[08:09] Jessica Clemens are there for us.
[08:10] They're today is the Universal panel.
[08:13] They're going to be giving us live
[08:15] updates via Twitter and Slack and every
[08:17] other mode of textbased communication we
[08:19] have with them so that we can give you
[08:21] all the live news from the panel as it
[08:23] breaks. I'm Alex Berg. With me today on
[08:25] the bench, Zach Huddleston. Say hi,
[08:27] Zach.
[08:28] >> I voice most of the minions. Hi, Zach.
[08:31] >> And Abby Fel. Say hi, Abby.
[08:33] >> Hi, Abby.
[08:34] >> You can say hi, Zabby. That's okay. Uh,
[08:36] behind the camera as always making
[08:38] everything go is Brian Kim.
[08:41] >> Yeah.
[08:43] Um, we're going to be keeping a close
[08:45] eye on the chat, trying to get to as
[08:46] many super chats as we possibly can. If
[08:48] we missed yours, it is not personal.
[08:50] We're just overwhelmed. Look how many
[08:52] screens we're dealing with here. Um,
[08:55] we're also going to be looking out for
[08:56] questions from members. Uh, I see we've
[08:58] got a super chat now thanks to Brian's
[09:00] uh, new high-tech signaling system.
[09:02] Sarah Hatchadorian. Hello, Sarah. We'll
[09:04] be beefing later. Uh, $2 super chat over
[09:06] under 20%. Eric Eavos gushes about his
[09:10] love for Nolan.
[09:11] >> That's over. Way over.
[09:12] >> That's over.
[09:13] >> Over 100%.
[09:14] >> And and and you're uh you're spoiling
[09:16] maybe the headline movie of of this
[09:18] panel. Sarah Hatch, Dorian, Christopher,
[09:21] No One's The Odyssey.
[09:22] >> Yeah. So, let's talk about what it is we
[09:24] expect to see, right? Today's big panel
[09:26] is Universal. It's starting momentarily
[09:28] or maybe started moments ago. Uh so,
[09:30] we're expecting some big news about the
[09:32] Odyssey, Minions, and Monsters,
[09:34] potentially disclosure day. There's a
[09:36] few other properties that we could be
[09:37] hearing about today. uh things like
[09:39] Fauler-in-law, Robert Edgar's Vervolf
[09:42] movie, uh potentially How to Train Your
[09:44] Dragon 2. Um so there's I mean I feel
[09:47] like it's not a a wild prediction to say
[09:50] Odyssey is going to dominate the big
[09:52] reveals from today's Cineacon trailer,
[09:54] right?
[09:55] >> Yeah. This is kind of a Universal is
[09:58] kind of by output the largest studio in
[10:00] Hollywood. They tend to put out the most
[10:02] movies on a yearly basis. This is a
[10:04] little bit of a quieter year from them
[10:06] as far as like their big franchises.
[10:09] Yeah, there's no Jurassic movie this
[10:10] year. There's no Fast and Furious movie
[10:12] this year. We'll talk about some of the
[10:13] stuff they might have coming next year
[10:15] or the year after. Uh but it's
[10:17] definitely a year for them that is going
[10:18] to be dominated by kind of
[10:20] >> two aour movies, Christopher Nolan's The
[10:23] Odyssey, Steven Spielberg's Disclosure
[10:25] Day, and then um a couple of their
[10:28] animated franchises, mainly Minions and
[10:31] Monsters.
[10:32] >> Yeah. all of our favorites for best
[10:34] picture and uh best uh box office crown.
[10:38] But um those are the big ones. And then
[10:40] they might be teeing up each studio kind
[10:42] of behaves a little differently in these
[10:44] in these panels. They might spend a lot
[10:46] of time teeing up their 2027 calendar as
[10:49] well.
[10:49] >> Very likely. Very likely. Um Abby, you
[10:52] and Brian have been talking you've been
[10:53] talking a big game about Shrek 5 in the
[10:55] office before the the panel started.
[10:58] What is your dream news that we could
[11:00] get about Shrek 5 today?
[11:02] >> I would love to see a longer teaser
[11:05] >> that comes out online
[11:08] >> and maybe even moves the date forward.
[11:11] >> Okay. Yeah. Can we get Shrek 5 soon or
[11:14] is the
[11:15] >> Can we get Can we go back to the
[11:16] original date?
[11:18] >> What if What if they announce it's a
[11:20] two-parter? You know what I mean? It's
[11:22] >> in three and four.
[11:23] >> Yeah. Are they going to Infinity War
[11:24] Endgame it and we get just backtoback uh
[11:27] or or Wicked Wicked for good, you know,
[11:29] back to basically a Shrek a year. Um and
[11:32] and and that's a so Universal is this
[11:35] kind of big umbrella studio underneath
[11:38] it. It distributes for some smaller
[11:40] studios, namely DreamWorks, this the
[11:43] home of both How to Train Your Dragon,
[11:45] Shrek, Kung Fu Panda. Maybe we get some
[11:47] Kung Fu Panda 5 news here. Um and and
[11:51] other properties. They distribute
[11:52] Illumination currently has the number
[11:54] one movie at the box office Super Mario
[11:56] Galaxy and also does the Minions and
[11:58] Despicable Me movies and and as well as
[12:00] some others. Sing I believe is an
[12:02] Illumination title.
[12:03] >> I mean between Super Mario Galaxy and
[12:05] then if the buzz we've heard about
[12:07] Odyssey and honestly the footage we've
[12:09] seen so far from Odyssey via trailers is
[12:11] to be believed. you know, ha one studio
[12:13] having a movie like Super Mario Galaxy
[12:16] and the Odyssey in a single year, like
[12:18] that's their year, you know, like all
[12:20] this other stuff
[12:21] >> be two top 10 movies right there.
[12:23] >> Yeah, that's that's already huge, you
[12:24] know. So, it does feel like a little bit
[12:26] of a softer year for Universal,
[12:27] certainly in comparison to like what
[12:29] Sony is presenting or, you know, what
[12:30] we're expecting from Disney tomorrow.
[12:33] But they've already kind of like come
[12:34] out the gate swinging pretty hard with
[12:36] Super Mario Galaxy
[12:37] >> and like reasonably Super Mario Galaxy
[12:40] might stay the biggest movie of the year
[12:42] until we're maybe till we get to
[12:44] Spider-Man,
[12:44] >> I think. So,
[12:45] >> you know, pretty deep into the summer.
[12:48] Um, and then it's still a question mark.
[12:50] Yeah, it's uh it's interesting. So they
[12:52] they have DreamWorks, they have
[12:54] Illumination. They also distribute the
[12:56] movies of Blumhouse,
[12:57] >> which if you're not if that's not a
[12:59] household name for you, that's basically
[13:01] 60% of the horror franchises in
[13:03] Hollywood and a lot of the kind of like
[13:05] breakout smaller horror movies.
[13:07] >> I am seeing a super chat flag from
[13:09] Brian. So let's go to the super chats.
[13:11] Loi girl, lore enthusiast, $10 donation.
[13:13] Thank you, Loi Girl, Laura Enthusiast.
[13:16] My predictions. Shrek 5 trailer. Sing
[13:18] three announcements.
[13:20] >> Uh, Five Nights at Freddy's 3 info. How
[13:24] to Train Your Dragon 2 live action. Yep.
[13:26] >> Trailers for Minions and Monsters, and
[13:28] of course, more info on the Odyssey.
[13:30] >> Those feel like very solid predictions.
[13:34] Loi Girl, lore enthusiast. In fact, I
[13:36] kind of wish you would have thrown in a
[13:38] curveball there.
[13:39] >> Yeah, curveball.
[13:40] >> Like uh Steven Spielberg breakdancing on
[13:42] stage or something. You know what I
[13:43] mean? like only because those are those
[13:44] are so solid and probably so accurate.
[13:46] Looks like we have another uh super
[13:49] chat. Uh Angel Jorio, uh my predictions
[13:53] for Universal news about Jurassic. I
[13:55] think this is really interesting.
[13:56] There's currently not another Jurassic
[13:59] movie slated no
[14:00] >> for Universal. But un uh Jurassic World
[14:03] Rebirth, despite being
[14:05] >> not a good movie,
[14:06] >> made a ton of money last year. I think
[14:09] ended up being a top five box office
[14:12] film of 2025. Uh that franchise is alive
[14:15] and well. We will get more probably
[14:18] starring Scarlett Johansson. Yeah, we're
[14:19] going to be talking about some other
[14:21] Scarlett Johansson projects here in a
[14:23] moment. But uh that feels like a solid
[14:24] prediction. How to Train Your Dragon 2.
[14:27] Yes, that is tentatively I think slated
[14:29] for 2027 as of now. Fauler-in-law coming
[14:31] up later. And then Fast 11, I think it
[14:34] is currently being called um Fast
[14:37] Forever.
[14:38] >> Yes. Yes, is the working target
[14:40] >> of Fast 11 and that is tentatively
[14:43] slated for 2028 at this point.
[14:46] >> The the the race in my mind were not for
[14:49] pink slips but just for pride. There is
[14:51] a Fast and Furious roller coaster
[14:53] currently under construction at
[14:54] Universal Studios uh here in Los
[14:56] Angeles. Will we get a completed roller
[14:59] coaster before we get Fast Forever?
[15:02] >> Yes, correct.
[15:03] >> You're right. Like I I think I think
[15:05] that's that's kind of the schedule
[15:06] everything's on. And and so as as as
[15:08] Berg was mentioning before, we're going
[15:10] to be relaying information as it comes
[15:11] in. Our our main method of
[15:14] communication, Eric Voss and Jessica
[15:16] Clemens are sitting in the room where
[15:17] these presentations are taking place
[15:19] where these studio executives and
[15:20] directors and actors are coming out
[15:22] where they're showing these clips at the
[15:25] Sony panel on Monday. They showed clips
[15:27] for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Beyond
[15:29] the Spider-Verse, and other things uh
[15:31] Resident Evil that have not been
[15:33] released to the public. Yes. So, all
[15:35] anybody is going to get is Eric's uh
[15:38] furiously typed out Twitter description
[15:42] of these things.
[15:43] >> Yeah. And we've gotten quite a bit of
[15:44] description. Uh let's take this time
[15:46] before the panel really begins in to do
[15:47] a quick roundup of the weekend news from
[15:49] Cineacon. So far, Monday started off
[15:51] strong with a Sony panel that featured,
[15:53] as Zach mentioned, new looks at
[15:54] Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a scene from
[15:56] Beyond the Spider-Verse, in addition to
[15:58] footage from Zack Craig's Resident Evil
[16:00] movie, and updates on Zelda, Hell
[16:02] Divers, Bloodborne, and Jumanji 4. Uh,
[16:04] Tuesday night, we covered the WB panel
[16:06] where there was some new Supergirl
[16:07] footage, the first seven minutes of Dune
[16:10] part 3. Uh, plus a look at Clayface. We
[16:13] also got a lot more info on the
[16:14] Alejandro Inoritu, Tom Cruz film Digger.
[16:18] uh casting news for Hunt for Gollum and
[16:20] Signs of Life from Practical Magic 2. Um
[16:23] so we and and these are just the ones
[16:25] that realistically I could remember off
[16:27] the top of my head when I was writing
[16:29] the script before the show started.
[16:30] There's a lot more news that comes out,
[16:32] especially with WB. They dropped kind of
[16:34] like in a montage news about an Oceans
[16:36] 11 prequel
[16:37] >> starring uh Bradley Cooper and Margot
[16:39] Robbie directed by Bradley Cooper.
[16:42] >> Yeah. Uh, also the revenge of uh uh La
[16:45] Lurona
[16:46] uh which is part of the expanded
[16:48] conjuring verse I believe evil dead
[16:51] wrath uh slated for release.
[16:53] >> Not to be confused. So that's we're
[16:55] already talking two Evil Deads in the
[16:57] future.
[16:57] >> We got Evil Dead Burn this year and then
[16:59] they've already slated another Evil Dead
[17:01] after that.
[17:02] >> Yeah, Final Destination 7. Uh Zack
[17:04] Kger's The Flood movie, which is a
[17:06] sci-fi movie but not related to the
[17:09] Flood from Halo. For those of you who
[17:10] remember the Halo games, reasonable
[17:12] confusion a lot of people are making
[17:14] given Zack Kger's uh gamer bonafides,
[17:16] but it's not a Halo movie, we're being
[17:18] told.
[17:19] >> Weapons prequel Glattis uh uh coming out
[17:21] September 8th, 2028. We got a I got a
[17:24] tweet coming in here. Okay, we have a
[17:27] very perfectly lit photo of Eric Voss
[17:30] saying he's seated for the Universal
[17:32] panel at Cineacon. He's going to be live
[17:34] tweeting every update about the Odyssey
[17:35] Disclosure Day, Shrek 5, Minions and
[17:37] Monsters, and everything else we see and
[17:40] learn.
[17:40] >> He looks really excited.
[17:41] >> He does. Seated and tweeted, Mr. Eric
[17:44] Boss right there. Um, and again, we have
[17:46] the exclusive
[17:48] ability to read that tweet over live
[17:50] stream.
[17:51] >> Uh, nowhere else. Nowhere else on
[17:52] YouTube are you going to see one of Eric
[17:54] Voss' co-workers read one of his tweets
[17:57] on a live stream. Let's before the the
[17:58] stream starts, I want to do a plug for
[18:00] our live show that's happening in uh in
[18:03] LA on Friday night. On Friday, April
[18:05] 17th at 7:00 p.m. Uh the New Rockstars
[18:07] crew is going to be doing a live staged
[18:10] reading of MorbiiUs uh with special
[18:12] guest Carl Tart. Um uh you can get
[18:15] tickets for that. There's a link in the
[18:17] description to this video or you can go
[18:19] to ucbdy.com.
[18:20] Uh uh if you are in LA, come in person.
[18:24] If you're not in LA, you can get a live
[18:25] stream ticket and watch it from the
[18:27] comfort of your own home. Or if you're
[18:28] in LA and you're like, "Parking over
[18:30] there can be iffy, you know, like
[18:32] >> come don't don't don't buy into the
[18:34] parking."
[18:35] >> The parking is actually very easy. You
[18:36] can park in the Gellson's lot. They
[18:38] fired the security guard who used to
[18:39] give you tickets for us.
[18:40] >> Is that true?
[18:41] >> It is true. It's good inside. The tricks
[18:43] you learn there all the time. Uh it's
[18:45] going to be a great great time. We're
[18:47] all going to be there. Eric will be
[18:48] there. It'll be a lot of fun. Um, also
[18:51] really, you know, whatever, all these
[18:53] big Hollywood movies, that's cool and
[18:55] all, but we should get to the the
[18:57] biggest news. And that's yesterday on
[19:00] the Warner Brothers stream, okay? I made
[19:02] a couple statements
[19:04] that the person who um has the largest
[19:08] super chat o over the course of the week
[19:10] or or sure, we'll just say yesterday or
[19:12] whatever, and the most cumulative super
[19:14] chats, I will drink a beer in their
[19:16] honor during the Disney panel. Now, you
[19:19] know, I was kind of putting the cart
[19:20] before the horse there, assuming I could
[19:22] find a bureau. Assuming, you know, I
[19:25] could consume a bureau. I don't know.
[19:27] >> Well, guess what, folks?
[19:30] >> I've got a 12ver of bureau right here.
[19:34] Okay, look at this. Four different
[19:36] varieties of Tom Holland's non-alcoholic
[19:39] beverage. Okay, I've got a noon wheat, a
[19:42] double tasty west coast style IPA,
[19:45] Kingston Golden Pills, and an Edge Hill
[19:47] Hazy IPA. And I will consume at least
[19:50] one of each of these styles. Okay. Over
[19:54] >> four bureaus,
[19:54] >> four bureaus will get consumed during
[19:56] that Disney panel. I might, depending on
[19:59] how things go today, if somebody
[20:01] impresses me with the quality of a of a
[20:03] of a comment, right? If a if a really
[20:06] groundbreaking super chat comes in, I
[20:07] see we got one in the hopper right now.
[20:09] I will consume a bureau spontaneously.
[20:12] Okay. For you.
[20:13] >> Just for you.
[20:14] >> How about what will it take for you to
[20:16] shotgun a bureau?
[20:18] >> Okay. And to shotgun a bureau.
[20:20] Everybody's been very generous. We've
[20:21] had a great active comment section for
[20:23] the last two live streams. If we can
[20:25] cross $400 in live streams today.
[20:27] >> Shotgun a bureau.
[20:27] >> I will shotgun a bureau by the end of
[20:29] this paint. I tell you I will join if if
[20:30] Z if we get to the shotgunning bureau
[20:33] stage of things I who cannot burp will
[20:37] also shotgun a bureau.
[20:39] >> Whoa. I know.
[20:40] >> Is that I mean is that healthy for you?
[20:42] >> Definitely not.
[20:43] >> If college is any indication it's going
[20:45] to be a problem but I will do it for you
[20:47] the fans. Uh speaking of the fans we
[20:48] have a super chat. Uh Brian's been
[20:50] patiently flagging us for Christian
[20:52] unpronouncable two Canadian dollars. Did
[20:55] you guys watch Daredevil? Yes, I did.
[20:59] >> Uh, normally on Breakroom, we do an
[21:02] after show every week for Daredevil
[21:03] where we go through it. I I will say uh
[21:07] my spoiler-free review for those of you
[21:09] who have not watched it. Uh, a lot of
[21:13] stuff in the present day I enjoyed.
[21:16] Vincent Denofio remains a phenomenal
[21:17] actor. A lot of the flashback stuff I
[21:20] could have done without. I would have
[21:22] rather focused on the present day.
[21:24] Agreed.
[21:24] >> That's my spoiler for those who haven't
[21:26] watched it. Another super chat uh coming
[21:28] in right now. Uh we're getting word from
[21:30] Brian Sarah Hatchadorian $2. We need
[21:32] stakes for all 12 bureaus to get
[21:35] >> You know what? If we do $1,000 in super
[21:37] chats in this stream, I we'll get
[21:40] through that 12ver. Okay. Whether Abby
[21:42] wants to or not, she will help us get
[21:44] through this 12-pack today. Okay,
[21:46] >> that's I don't even drink regular beer
[21:48] anymore. So, the thought of going
[21:50] through like a full beer,
[21:52] >> the only risk to us is the the volume of
[21:54] carbonation that we will be going to be.
[21:56] Maybe you'll burp.
[21:58] >> I I hope not because it's going to be a
[22:00] nightmare if I do. Here's the Here's the
[22:02] That's the carrot is the bureau. Here's
[22:03] the stick.
[22:05] >> If we get less than $100 in super chats,
[22:09] I'm going to down a bottle of
[22:10] Jagermeister and air how I feel about
[22:13] everything.
[22:14] >> No, people want that.
[22:16] >> Don't want to incentivize.
[22:17] >> No, they don't. That's the Trust me.
[22:18] That's the money. That's the sticks.
[22:21] Will they? Because right now from me
[22:24] bitty, uh, we got a $5 super chat for
[22:27] the shotgun fund. You see that? We're
[22:29] already blowing past.
[22:30] >> Okay.
[22:30] >> The the y the Jerremeister cliff. Um,
[22:34] >> sorry if you have to shotgun some.
[22:35] >> Oh, we got we got more more super chats
[22:37] coming in.
[22:39] >> Shout out from the 904. Hey, Duval. Is
[22:43] it Are you a North Fidian? Mad Matt 904.
[22:46] Uh, Zack, you said the other day uh that
[22:48] a county around you growing up was dry.
[22:51] Which county was it? Sani County. I grew
[22:53] up in Columbia County, right on the
[22:55] Georgia border in North Florida. The
[22:56] county next to us, which was garbage.
[22:59] Everybody always thinks that the town
[23:00] next to your town is a trash town, but
[23:02] this was true in my case. Live Oak,
[23:04] Florida, and Swanny County. They were a
[23:07] dry county, a dry city. I don't know if
[23:08] they still are to this day because I
[23:10] refuse to go back. But um shout out back
[23:13] to you to the 904. I had a 904 area code
[23:16] for half my childhood and then I guess
[23:17] the population grew so I switched to a
[23:20] 386
[23:21] >> uh area code and and the fine folks like
[23:24] yourself Mad Matt got to keep the 904.
[23:27] >> We got another super chat coming in
[23:28] here. Uh thank you Brian Ryan Snowden
[23:31] with a 420 super chat. My man 420 is not
[23:35] until Monday. Uh Shrek is love, Shrek is
[23:38] life.
[23:38] >> Okay.
[23:40] I have not watched it. I watched it.
[23:42] This got brought up yesterday.
[23:44] >> I need this to be explained to me.
[23:45] >> And I went and found it. It's only like
[23:47] a minute and change long. It's a short
[23:48] video.
[23:49] >> Whoever the genius is that put this
[23:51] together, it's like fake found footage
[23:53] with like a Nickelodeon logo on it for
[23:55] no reason. Uh, it's great. And you know
[23:58] what? It's It's not safe for work, but
[24:02] it's also not not safe for work.
[24:04] >> It's just it's life.
[24:05] >> Do I need audio or can I watch this
[24:07] without audio?
[24:08] >> I mean, the audio is pretty good, too,
[24:10] but
[24:10] >> the audio is is the quo. Yeah, I see.
[24:13] >> That's like OG, you are at a sleepover
[24:16] and YouTube is a new and you're like,
[24:19] let's watch YouTube videos. What's on
[24:20] YouTube? And it was Shrek is Shrek his
[24:22] life.
[24:23] >> Perfect length. It's very funny. Uh,
[24:24] let's talk about a couple things we're
[24:26] expecting to see here while Wilbur
[24:28] catches up. Oh, we got a tweet. Incoming
[24:30] tweet. Here we go.
[24:31] >> Tweet
[24:31] >> uh from Eric Voss. Uh ushers have told
[24:34] us in our section of the Dolby Coliseum
[24:36] that they're expecting maximum capacity
[24:39] uh for today's Universal Studios Focus
[24:41] Features panel, which was not the case
[24:43] for us for the WB or Sony panels. What a
[24:46] flex from Universal. Uh it could just be
[24:49] that we're later in the week and more
[24:50] press have made it to Las Vegas for the
[24:52] final two days of the conference. Or is
[24:54] it the Nolan effect?
[24:57] >> Could be. Could be. I do think it I I
[24:59] think it has a an impact. So, the
[25:01] Cineacon goes through Thursday. Kind of
[25:04] Wednesday and Thursday are kind of the
[25:05] bigger days. Tomorrow, we get two major
[25:08] studio panels. We get um both Paramount
[25:11] and Disney are tomorrow. Uh so, it's
[25:14] kind of the biggest day. Um but today's
[25:17] also a really big day. Um,
[25:19] >> I I do think The Odyssey
[25:22] feels like it is going to clobber awards
[25:26] season, you know, and it's it's
[25:28] >> and part of that is it's the kind of
[25:30] movie that Hollywood loves to celebrate,
[25:33] you know, this big sweeping historical
[25:35] mythological epic. Um, but part of it
[25:37] too is like Universal is a studio that
[25:39] has the money and the clout to really
[25:40] campaign for awards, which is a part of
[25:44] awards season that may be advisable to a
[25:46] lot of people,
[25:46] >> especially when you consider this is a
[25:48] convention for theater owner and
[25:50] operators, right? The people that run
[25:52] movie theaters, they really want a movie
[25:54] that is wildly popular, is very
[25:58] cinematic with big special effects and
[26:00] movie stars and all that kind of stuff,
[26:02] and gets awards, right? Like as much as
[26:04] I enjoyed Anora, I think that is the
[26:06] all-time lowest grossing best picture
[26:08] winner from two years ago.
[26:10] >> I loved it. But yeah, it it wasn't a
[26:12] vlog.
[26:12] >> Very few people saw that. Very few
[26:14] people have still seen it. Um, speaking
[26:16] of not safe for work. Uh, thank you,
[26:18] Anora.
[26:19] >> We can watch a little Anora at work.
[26:21] >> It depends on your work. It really
[26:22] depends on your work. We got a super
[26:24] chat coming in.
[26:26] >> Okay. Loi girl lore enthusiast $2 super
[26:29] chat. Odyssey vers Doomsday will be
[26:31] crazy. That's right. That's right.
[26:33] >> I think that day has a chance to set
[26:36] historical
[26:36] >> box office.
[26:37] >> And you know what? If if these movie
[26:39] studios had real cojones, Disney and
[26:42] Universal would have run their panels at
[26:44] the same time, too.
[26:45] >> You know what I mean? They would have
[26:46] done a Doomsday uh Cinema Con headto
[26:50] head. You know,
[26:50] >> where do we think Eric and Jess would
[26:52] have gone?
[26:53] >> Oh, they would have been torn in half.
[26:54] Yeah.
[26:55] >> I don't know. Uh that would have been a
[26:57] real Sophie's Choice kind of
[26:58] >> moment. I don't know if Eric, Man, that
[27:00] is that is so interesting because like I
[27:02] don't know if Eric would be able to
[27:03] resist the chance to see Christopher
[27:05] Nolan.
[27:06] >> Yes. As much as he needs to be there for
[27:08] Doomsday stuff. Uh but real quick and
[27:10] and the the Universal panel is scheduled
[27:12] to start any minute now. Uh but this is
[27:15] kind of the slate for Universal uh as
[27:18] far as we know. They might announce some
[27:20] new stuff, but kind of in order of
[27:22] release this year. Uh, in July we've got
[27:24] Disclosure Day from Steven Spielberg,
[27:26] Minions and Monsters later in July. In
[27:29] August, One Night Only, and this is a
[27:31] movie that doesn't have a trailer out
[27:32] yet, but it is a fun concept. I think
[27:34] it's Callum Turner and Maya Hawk, and
[27:37] it's it's uh young singles in New York
[27:40] uh try to hook up on the one day of the
[27:42] year in which sex is legal.
[27:44] >> Oh,
[27:44] >> it's like The Purge, but sex. I I don't
[27:47] know. It sounds like a fun weird
[27:48] concept. Um, Forgotten Island. This is
[27:52] the um DreamWorks Animation movie. They
[27:54] did a full screening of this movie
[27:56] earlier in the day at
[27:57] >> Cineon. Filipino movie. Yes,
[27:59] >> it's from the I believe it's from the
[28:01] the same people that did uh Puss and
[28:03] Boots Last Wish. So it has that kind of
[28:06] like very uh cool, you know, um
[28:09] animation style. Uh so that's coming out
[28:12] in September. Um Other Mommy is a horror
[28:16] movie from Blumhouse starring Jessica
[28:17] Chastain coming out in October.
[28:19] Fauler-in-law. I think we're gonna get
[28:21] maybe a full trailer, uh, some extended
[28:24] footage. I wouldn't doubt if we see
[28:26] Ariana Grande, maybe Ben Stiller, Robert
[28:28] Dairo, uh, in the hall there. Violent
[28:31] Night 2, David Harbor Returns, uh, and
[28:35] then Robert Edgar's Werewolf. Those are
[28:37] kind of like the known, um, releases.
[28:40] >> I would be surprised if we got much on,
[28:43] as much as I would love to, Robert
[28:45] Edgar's Werewolf. Uh, thank you, Nawi,
[28:47] for becoming a rock star. Uh just
[28:49] because you know those none no Robert
[28:52] Edgars movie tends to have a ton of
[28:54] press behind it you know like no ferratu
[28:56] didn't really
[28:57] >> no fatu kind of a lot of people saw no
[29:00] fraatu it was kind of a success
[29:01] >> it it was but it wasn't like a big media
[29:04] blitz you know like in the same way that
[29:06] like if if you live in LA there's mummy
[29:08] posters all over the place
[29:10] >> but you know if if they're and they may
[29:13] not mention some of these movies they
[29:14] may not do a lot or kind of might run
[29:15] through them fast uh and and Then
[29:18] looking forward, yesterday Warner
[29:19] Brothers again talked about multiple
[29:22] movies that are farther out. On Monday,
[29:24] Sony was talking about Spider-Verse.
[29:26] It's not coming out till the next year.
[29:27] So, the 2027 slate for Universal where
[29:30] we might get some news on this stuff.
[29:32] We've got a uh Oh, first we've got an
[29:35] update here coming in from Eric.
[29:36] >> Oh.
[29:40] >> Oh, big update. Okay, here I'll read it
[29:43] from uh I'll read it from my laptop
[29:44] here. Here's an inside tidbit from the
[29:46] room at these studio showcases at
[29:48] Cineacon. Sometimes you'll see a green
[29:50] laser shining on random seats around the
[29:52] theater. At first, you think, "What punk
[29:55] troll brought a laser pointer to this?"
[29:57] Until you'll realize it's actually the
[29:59] theater's sophisticated antipiriracy
[30:02] technology at work.
[30:03] >> Staffers reportedly use night vision to
[30:06] spot people using their phones to try to
[30:09] record the screen and then zap. Lasers
[30:12] scramble and black out their phone
[30:14] screens and shame them. Lol. Every seat
[30:18] in this theater is being observed. Some
[30:20] are even speculated it may be automated.
[30:23] That's why no footage is leaking. Get
[30:25] ready for this tech to be rolled out in
[30:27] theaters everywhere.
[30:28] >> Uh orwell you crazy bastard. You
[30:31] couldn't dream of this, could you?
[30:33] >> But are we okay with the surveillance
[30:34] state as long as it prevents uh leaks
[30:37] and piracy? I don't know. I guess
[30:39] >> can the surveillance state panopticon
[30:41] save cinemas at last?
[30:43] >> Uh but a couple movies that we know are
[30:44] coming from Universal in the near
[30:46] future. Um yeah, a Scarlett Johansson
[30:48] starring Exorcist film. I don't think
[30:51] this is canon with the recent Exorcist
[30:54] movie that came out and was on Netflix,
[30:56] but I I could be wrong there.
[30:57] >> Is it more of a reboot?
[30:59] >> I think it's a reboot or a direct sequel
[31:01] from the original. I It's something like
[31:03] that. I don't know. Maybe we'll find
[31:04] out. How to Train Your Dragon 2, we
[31:06] previously mentioned that. Shrek 5. We
[31:07] mentioned that. A liveaction Miami Vice
[31:10] unrelated to the Colin Frell Jamie Fox
[31:14] uh um installment. Um there is an
[31:17] untitled DreamWorks movie scheduled to
[31:19] come out next year. That could be Kung
[31:20] Fu Panda 5. That could be Sing 3 or Sing
[31:24] is maybe not. I don't know. Uh the the
[31:27] Daniels, the writer directors of
[31:29] Everything Everywhere All at Once. They
[31:31] supposedly have a movie coming out next
[31:32] year, though they may not have a star
[31:33] for that movie. Uh, we got a super chat
[31:35] coming in. Um, thank you so much, Geek
[31:39] Ledger. Uh, I wonder if we'll hear
[31:42] anything about the Murder She Wrote
[31:43] reboot with Jamie Lee Curtis. A director
[31:46] announcement could be cool. I was just
[31:48] about to mention that your timing is
[31:50] perfect, Geek Ledger. Yeah, there is a
[31:52] Murder She Wrote film already slated for
[31:55] December of next year. Yeah. From
[31:57] Universal, which is really fun. And then
[32:00] sometime beyond next year, presumably
[32:02] 2028 or beyond, Fast Forever, the next
[32:04] Fast and Furious movie.
[32:06] >> And the final Fast and Furious movie, we
[32:08] think.
[32:08] >> So, we've been told. Yeah.
[32:09] >> Um, a Mummy movie, not to be confused
[32:12] with Lee Cronin's Mummy, which is coming
[32:13] out in like the next couple weeks. This
[32:15] is a Mummy movie starring Brendan
[32:18] Frasier and Rachel Weiss, I believe,
[32:20] based off that part.
[32:21] >> And I believe bringing back a lot of the
[32:23] original cast. the guy who played her
[32:25] brother in the original movie. I think
[32:26] the guy who played like the, you know,
[32:29] sort of like fake priest with all the
[32:31] different uh things.
[32:32] >> The guy with the face tattoos. Um and
[32:35] potentially this long delayed Jordan
[32:38] Peele movie. It's been a minute since
[32:41] Nope. We want to see more Jordan Peele,
[32:44] please. Um so those are and and then
[32:47] whatever the next installment in the
[32:48] Jurassic franchise is going to be and
[32:50] they probably got 10 other surprise
[32:52] movies that we've never heard of.
[32:53] Absolutely.
[32:54] >> Uh we can only hope they got some cool
[32:55] stuff cooking for us. Um so we're as we
[32:59] wait the panel is scheduled to start 400
[33:01] p.m. Pacific, so it might be getting
[33:03] underway right now. We'll be uh
[33:05] refreshing here. Uh any news from um
[33:08] Eric and the new Rockstar team in the
[33:10] room. And again, I've got a 12-pack of
[33:13] bureaus under the table here.
[33:15] >> You guys, we might be shotguning bureaus
[33:16] if we get up to 400 in super chats.
[33:18] >> It's a little bit of a threat. It's a
[33:19] little bit of a promise. Okay, those
[33:21] bureaus might get consumed. Let's talk a
[33:23] little bit about what's going on
[33:24] tomorrow because we will be back
[33:25] tomorrow. Brian, I don't know if you
[33:26] have the schedule graphic, uh, easy to
[33:28] pull up. Um, but tomorrow's big panel is
[33:31] going to be Disney, uh, which is we're
[33:33] going to be live at 2:00 p.m. Pacific
[33:35] time. We're expecting major Doomsday
[33:38] news in addition to updates on Mando and
[33:40] Grou, uh, Ryan Gosling Starf Fighter
[33:43] project, and more. We're going to be
[33:44] covering that live. So, set up your
[33:46] notification, set an alarm if you don't
[33:47] want to miss anything. Uh we're going to
[33:49] be uh right here with the same sort of
[33:51] Eric on the ground.
[33:52] >> I would say that one is going to be
[33:54] extra juicy. Not only because bureaus
[33:57] are going to get consumed, but so after
[33:59] today's panel, but we will no longer be
[34:01] live. Later tonight, there's an MGM
[34:03] Amazon panel happening. And then early
[34:06] tomorrow, there's a Paramount panel
[34:07] happening. We're going to be recapping
[34:08] both of those in our live stream
[34:10] tomorrow during the Disney panel. We've
[34:12] got a super chat coming through.
[34:15] >> Um
[34:15] >> Abby, I think you should read this one.
[34:18] You guys are awesome. New rock stars for
[34:20] life. PS. Abby
[34:22] >> hard eyes. That boy just
[34:25] >> or uh
[34:26] >> and that's him
[34:28] drinking breakfast.
[34:29] >> It looks like his breakfast is liquor.
[34:31] That boy. You're not going to get enough
[34:33] protein that way. You're going to crash
[34:34] around noon.
[34:35] >> Uh we got another super chat. Uh
[34:38] >> unless it's bureau.
[34:39] >> Unless it's a bureau. Yeah, bureaus are
[34:40] loaded with protein.
[34:41] >> Okay. Our our friend Loi girl enthusiast
[34:43] coming through. Faker-in-law has been
[34:45] shown, I assume.
[34:48] >> Oh, the just poster has been shown.
[34:51] >> Poster of Fauler-in-law. Okay. Yeah.
[34:53] Thank you. Um, yeah. And I think there
[34:55] was a little like a teaser clip I saw
[34:57] circulating online of Ariana Grande
[35:00] getting the lie detector put to her by
[35:03] Robert Jiro. Um, I believe is it is she
[35:06] playing Ben Stiller's daughter?
[35:09] >> No, I think she's married into the
[35:12] family. I see. She's dating um Skyler
[35:16] >> Gazando.
[35:17] >> Gazando.
[35:17] >> He's playing Ben Stiller's son. Yes.
[35:19] >> Got it. That makes sense. That makes
[35:21] sense.
[35:21] >> So, uh
[35:22] >> passing of the torch in Ariana Grande
[35:27] dating kind of a a short quirky guy.
[35:30] Who'd believe that?
[35:31] >> Who would have thought? Who would have
[35:32] thought?
[35:33] >> It's unrealistic.
[35:34] >> Unrealistic. Uh is is Fak documentary?
[35:38] Um okay, great. Thank you for everybody
[35:41] participating in the chat. Again, we're
[35:42] going to be here for a while, folks.
[35:44] Okay, we're going to be here till this
[35:45] panel concludes.
[35:46] >> Silver Gun RG just became a member.
[35:49] Thank you, Silver Gun RG. Yeah, if you
[35:50] see some people in the chat whose names
[35:52] are green, they got the little Thanos
[35:54] glove next to their name. They get
[35:55] special emojis and stuff. They're
[35:57] members.
[35:57] >> Speak of the devil. Ark Reactor 1 also
[35:59] just became a YouTube member. Thank you
[36:02] very much. You get the little um Yeah,
[36:04] the Infinity Gauntlet next to your name.
[36:06] Uh, Digital Vortex asking, "Are our are
[36:09] tickets for Cineacon still $5,000 each?
[36:12] Wouldn't know. We paid $1 million each."
[36:15] So, the um that's a great question. And
[36:18] you know, Cineacon is not technically
[36:20] open to the public. This is an industry
[36:21] event. Uh Eric, we've never been able to
[36:24] go before. Eric actually had to go
[36:26] through a kind of complicated process of
[36:28] getting approved as a member of the
[36:29] press. You have to be a member of an
[36:31] official press organization and that's
[36:33] how we were able to get our tickets this
[36:34] year. So, I don't know how like public
[36:37] tickets are available.
[36:38] >> Uh, Eric spotted this panel's first
[36:40] green shame laser and zap a second green
[36:43] shame laser.
[36:45] >> Whoa.
[36:47] >> Uh, so
[36:47] >> which I guess I he must have a laptop
[36:50] open and that is how he's avoiding
[36:52] getting any phone issues or something
[36:54] like that. Um, as as we were mentioning
[36:57] earlier, if you're just tuning in, uh,
[37:00] in the room for these panels, they have
[37:02] special lasers designed where if they
[37:04] see somebody holding up their phone to
[37:05] record the screen, it like zaps their
[37:07] phone and prevents them from, um,
[37:09] recording it, which is wild.
[37:13] Uh, also, I'm seeing a tweet from Eric
[37:14] Wemiss. For anyone asking whether Disney
[37:16] will move the Avengers Doomsday release
[37:18] date up to December 11th, the release
[37:20] date is still December 18th on the
[37:22] poster displayed at Cineacon. So, you
[37:25] know, uh that's not the same as an
[37:27] official announcement, but certainly
[37:29] you'd think if there was anybody who
[37:30] they wanted to know when the movie was
[37:32] going to come out, it would be the
[37:34] people who own the theater chains that
[37:35] are going to be airing it. Uh if it's
[37:38] saying December 18th on the poster at
[37:40] Cineacon, I feel like that's kind of cut
[37:41] and dried. It's done.
[37:43] >> Yes.
[37:43] >> Uh we got a super chat coming in here.
[37:46] Um let's see. Uh JBC1
[37:50] or L uh $5 super chat. Thank you, JBC.
[37:54] Uh they fingers crossed they announced
[37:56] the Avatar Ang movie drops tomorrow on
[37:58] Paramount Plus.
[37:59] >> I heard I was seeing that it kind of
[38:02] leaked. It
[38:03] >> did. So leaked in its entirety. Brian
[38:05] wouldn't know anything about that.
[38:07] >> Yeah. I mean it they there's some I
[38:09] don't know how they got it, but the full
[38:11] movie was leaked uh multiple times on
[38:13] like Twitter, but like they're
[38:15] constantly trying to take it down
[38:17] >> once it's online. It's there though. It
[38:19] does suck because it it has, you know,
[38:21] they kind of dropped the marketing of
[38:22] that movie and then they're kind of, you
[38:24] know, it's now unceremoniously leaked,
[38:26] which is sad. But well, hopefully
[38:29] there's something for it. I don't think
[38:30] it'll be on Cineacon because I think
[38:32] they did take it off the theatrical
[38:33] release stuff.
[38:34] >> Yeah, if it was origin if it was going
[38:35] to be a streaming release, they won't
[38:37] talk about it uh here at the at
[38:38] Cineacon.
[38:39] >> Yeah, we should remind folks, especially
[38:40] if you didn't join us Monday or Tuesday
[38:42] for the live streams. So, Cineacon only
[38:45] focuses on theatrical releases. So,
[38:46] there'll be no mention of any kind of
[38:48] streaming series, television, uh,
[38:50] anything like that. That's going to be
[38:52] interesting
[38:53] >> for later tonight's Amazon MGM panel.
[38:56] >> Yeah,
[38:56] >> Amazon owns MGM. They put some of their
[38:59] movies in theaters, but not all of them.
[39:01] They have things like the Highlander
[39:04] franchise. Uh, they're making all manner
[39:07] of Henry Caval projects, I believe. So,
[39:09] who knows what they might be talking
[39:10] about later tonight. Uh, and with the
[39:13] big question mark for that panel, do we
[39:16] get a James Bond casting?
[39:17] >> Yeah, that's the that's the big news
[39:19] from MGM. I think that's that's what
[39:21] people really want to hear. Um, we got
[39:23] Wiggy Stardust. Just became a member for
[39:25] 15 months. Thank you, Wiggy Stardust.
[39:27] Been here with us a while. We appreciate
[39:29] you. Um, yeah. Yeah, I mean the Amazon
[39:32] MGM thing is so weird because, you know,
[39:34] with Spider Noir, I believe the plan is
[39:37] still and and they're changing this all
[39:38] the time to drop it all on MGM Plus to
[39:41] try to get people to sign up for that
[39:42] and then release it on Amazon regular
[39:44] streaming. Our good friend uh Christian
[39:47] pronouncable throwing out a super chat.
[39:48] Thank you. Over 1,000 viewers. Please
[39:50] like and subscribe. And again, if we hit
[39:53] a certain threshold of super chats,
[39:56] okay, I will chug a bureau live on
[39:59] stream. We have the bureaus here in
[40:01] office.
[40:01] >> I've got I've got a 12 of four different
[40:03] flavors of bureau. Tom Holland
[40:05] personally canned these.
[40:08] >> And not only will Zach chug them, but
[40:09] because they're under the table, they're
[40:11] not refrigerated.
[40:13] Someone did comment, "Please put them in
[40:15] the fridge."
[40:16] >> No. No. They're slowly warming under the
[40:18] table. And so the faster we can hit that
[40:20] threshold,
[40:21] >> the cooler they will be. Um Yeah. And
[40:24] again, if we don't get it today, that's
[40:25] fine. I plan on checking multiple ones
[40:27] tomorrow during the epic uh Disney
[40:30] panel.
[40:32] Um what are what is the of the of the
[40:35] properties we're going to hear about
[40:37] today in this Universal panel? What are
[40:39] you most excited for?
[40:41] I mean, I I'm all in on Odyssey, which
[40:43] is like not a deep cut, you know, that's
[40:45] not like the obscure aur project that no
[40:48] one's heard of from Czechoslovakia this
[40:50] year or whatever, but I'm the Emily
[40:53] Wilson's translation of the Odyssey. It
[40:56] rips. It's so fun. It's so good.
[40:59] Um, the book is fun as hell. It I I want
[41:02] to see it in IMAX. I love Christopher
[41:05] Nolan. The cast is huge. Like, that to
[41:08] me is the thing I'm most excited for.
[41:09] Uh, we got a super chat here. Keep keep
[41:11] thinking, Abby. I really want to hear a
[41:13] great answer from you, but we've got a
[41:14] couple super chats we got to get to.
[41:15] First, porcelain tanks sending in a
[41:18] super chat. Thank you. Over under 20%.
[41:21] I'm adding in the 20% though you did not
[41:23] uh state that. Amazon does something
[41:25] good for once and announces Rizamemed as
[41:27] Denville News Bond. I mean,
[41:30] >> love RZ Amed.
[41:31] >> Love Riz Aamemed. He's going to be in
[41:33] Digger. We found out yesterday. The Tom
[41:35] Cruz movie. Uh, bold move. That would be
[41:38] bold. Is he British? I know he has an
[41:41] accent.
[41:41] >> I don't know.
[41:42] >> Uh I He might be British.
[41:44] >> I've been in love with him since Four
[41:45] Lines. He He's so goddamn
[41:47] >> British. He's British.
[41:49] >> Okay, there we go. British confirmed.
[41:50] Makes sense. And then we have another
[41:51] super chat, right? Uh Brian, uh from our
[41:54] good friend Sarah Hatchorian. Okay, this
[41:56] is great. I want to hear answers here,
[41:58] though. Abby still has to tell us what
[41:59] movie she's most looking forward to.
[42:01] Apparently, there's a piano and
[42:02] microphone covered up on stage. Any
[42:05] crazy takes on who could guest perform?
[42:08] Well, we know Ariana Grande is in a
[42:11] Universal movie this year. Could she do
[42:13] a little song?
[42:14] >> An original Fauler-in-law soundtrack.
[42:18] >> Fresh.
[42:18] >> She's not known to be a piano player,
[42:20] but I guess she could have an
[42:20] accompaniest.
[42:21] >> Yeah.
[42:22] >> Also, something for Sing 3.
[42:25] >> Sing three.
[42:26] >> That's a great And and uh star of Sing
[42:29] 3, Scarlett Johansson's making multiple
[42:31] um Universal franchise films. We've got
[42:33] an update here. Let's go to that update.
[42:35] Snoop Dogg is on stage.
[42:37] >> Snoop Dogg is on stage. Okay, maybe I
[42:40] guess it's for him. All right,
[42:41] >> so there is a long rumored Snoop Dogg
[42:44] movie like produced by Snoop Dogg at
[42:47] Universal. We don't know any other
[42:49] details about it. Maybe he's there to
[42:50] talk about that. We've got a super chat
[42:53] >> um coming through. Friend Marvel Pirate,
[42:57] sorry I'm late. What is the bureau
[42:59] threshold?
[43:00] >> I said $400 in total super chats. I'm
[43:03] trying to figure out where we are
[43:04] currently.
[43:05] >> I'm not sure how we'll be able to
[43:06] calculate that in real time. We used to
[43:08] have a method back in break room season
[43:10] one and uh the technology has been lost.
[43:13] But um we'll we'll figure it out. We'll
[43:16] know. And you could just throw out 300
[43:19] bucks right now.
[43:21] Just do 399.
[43:22] >> I the the piano and microphone is very
[43:25] interesting. There's no Lady Gaga movies
[43:27] coming out this year as far as I know.
[43:30] Could it be someone random but like an
[43:32] Odyssey original song?
[43:35] >> Yeah. Yeah. The Oh, isn't Travis Scott
[43:37] in the Odyssey when comes out and
[43:39] tinkles the
[43:40] >> not known for his piano work
[43:42] necessarily, but he's a talented man. Um
[43:45] Yeah. And it could just be maybe it's a
[43:47] bit I will say um you know with
[43:52] potential for Kung Fu P Kung Fu Panda 5
[43:55] and currently starring in Mario Galaxy,
[43:58] we got a little Jack Black serenade.
[44:00] >> Uh Snoop Dogg uh backed by DJ Green
[44:03] Lantern rapping Drop It Like It's Hot.
[44:05] The crowd is on their feet.
[44:08] >> I want footage of Eric dancing to Drop
[44:12] It Like It's Hot.
[44:13] >> Yes. if you get an attitude. Um, why why
[44:18] is he doing this? Other than like just
[44:20] to start to show off with some hype,
[44:22] which I don't mind. This is a show. You
[44:24] were trying to wow these people and put
[44:26] on some like spectacle.
[44:28] >> He did voice Cousin It in the recent
[44:31] Adams Family animated films. Snoop Dogg
[44:34] was Cousin It. And I believe Cousin It
[44:36] raps at the end of the second one.
[44:38] >> I mean,
[44:38] >> I watched both of those in theaters cuz
[44:40] I am a true cophile. Um,
[44:42] >> or a father. Yeah. Or a father. One or
[44:44] the other. Could be both.
[44:45] >> They're trying to keep theaters alive.
[44:47] On a oneman mission. Um. Wow. I mean,
[44:50] again, it's it's not a bad idea. Give
[44:52] him a good show. We got a new super chat
[44:54] coming through, I believe.
[44:56] >> Uh, wy offc
[45:00] could be that that Adele movie. There
[45:03] has been a rumored Adele movie for a
[45:04] minute. Also excited for the country
[45:06] movie uh country singing Glenn Powell
[45:08] movie. So, yeah, Glenn Powell has a
[45:10] movie coming out later this year. I
[45:12] think produced by um oh uh Jud Appattow.
[45:16] Yeah. About a washedup country singer.
[45:19] The irony of Glenn Powell playing a
[45:20] washed up country singer. What's Glenn
[45:22] Powell? 36. I don't know. Uh weird to be
[45:24] washed up already. But um
[45:26] >> you can wa wash up is a state of mind.
[45:28] That can happen to people at 14. You
[45:30] know, if you try if you set your mind on
[45:32] being washed up, you can make it happen.
[45:34] >> That's true. That's true. Uh that could
[45:36] be interesting. He could he could do
[45:37] some onstage work there. We got another
[45:39] super chat uh from Mad Matt 904 Duval
[45:44] over under 20% Christopher Nolan's The
[45:46] Iliad dog.
[45:48] >> Dude, I I'll say this. I'll say I think
[45:50] if the Odyssey is big enough, there is a
[45:52] chance they make it. But the Iliad, the
[45:55] book of the Iliad sucks. The Odyssey
[45:57] rules. The Iliad is paragraph after
[45:59] paragraph of like this guy was this
[46:02] guy's kid. Who was this guy's kid? Who
[46:04] was this guy kid? He dies. Then this guy
[46:06] was this guy's kid who was this guy's
[46:08] kid. dies. It's all lineages and death,
[46:10] which is the point. War is just constant
[46:13] death.
[46:13] >> But our man Chris Nolan is not too
[46:16] beholdened to following the text.
[46:18] >> He's not. He can make it like Dunkirk.
[46:19] He, you know, also like uh I think uh
[46:22] I'm blanking on the name of the woman
[46:23] who wrote Cersei and Song of Achilles,
[46:25] but like Song of Achilles is a much
[46:26] better version of the of the Iliad than
[46:28] the Iliad is. So, like there is there is
[46:30] a good story,
[46:31] >> but also I I got to say as much as I
[46:33] love where your head's at, Mad Matt
[46:35] under 20%. Cuz Chris Nolan ain't doing
[46:38] two things back to back. After he did
[46:39] three Batman movies, he's like, "No more
[46:41] of this, dog." I I'm the I have the
[46:43] blankst check in Hollywood. You think
[46:46] I'm going to spend like five years of my
[46:47] life doing just one thing? He's like,
[46:49] he'll be off doing he'll he'll do sci-fi
[46:51] or he'll do something totally unrelated
[46:54] to the Odyssey. Next, uh, shout out to,
[46:57] uh, User Rewind releases, becoming a
[46:59] rockstar, becoming a YouTube member.
[47:01] Appreciate you.
[47:02] >> A new chat here from Snoop Dogg. Uh,
[47:05] Snoop Dogg uh, announced a bio a biopic
[47:08] he's producing with Universal and Brian
[47:10] Graaser in the style of Straight Out of
[47:12] Compton. Jonathan Davis will play a
[47:15] younger version of the music legend.
[47:17] >> A young Snoop Dogg.
[47:19] >> Young Snoop. Snoop. Um, I like I like
[47:21] the young I mean the first Snoop Dogg
[47:25] like age 17 to 25 is a wild ride
[47:29] >> for people who only know modernday Snoop
[47:31] Dogg. It is hard to connect
[47:33] >> as like the guy who's in like Granola
[47:35] commercials and like shows up at every
[47:37] public event somehow. He's like it's
[47:39] him, Shaquille O'Neal, and Pton Manning
[47:41] are in every commercial. Uh, no, but
[47:43] like his run, he was incredibly young
[47:46] when like The Chronic and Doggy Style
[47:47] came out. uh plucked from obscurity by
[47:50] Dr. Dre was on trial for murder almost
[47:52] immediately. Got uh got off of that
[47:56] murder was the case. I mean, and again,
[47:58] a five or six year run that will make
[48:00] for a very good movie if that's kind of
[48:02] what they're focusing on.
[48:03] >> We've got a super chat flag up from
[48:05] Brian uh Nick Howy275 sending in five
[48:10] New Zealand dollars saying uh the Lord
[48:12] of the Rings films will be filmed in New
[48:13] Zealand by the way. And it would be a
[48:15] betrayal if they weren't. kind of came
[48:17] up yesterday as as the Hunt for Gollum
[48:20] cast got announced. We kind of asked
[48:21] that Nick Howy, as you could tell by the
[48:23] little NZ next to uh the denomination
[48:26] there. My man is the call is coming from
[48:29] inside the New Zealand. You know what I
[48:31] mean? He's looking out his window and
[48:33] he's seeing the production vans line up.
[48:35] He knows. He knows from whence he
[48:37] speaks.
[48:38] >> Are you on the North Island or the South
[48:39] Island, Nick Howie? That's all right.
[48:40] Don't you don't need a super chat to
[48:42] answer that. Okay.
[48:43] >> Yeah. It happened in
[48:46] >> uh Nick Howy and and for everybody else
[48:48] watching. So I have a cousin who married
[48:50] a man from New Zealand. Very very nice
[48:53] guy. He designed sailboats for a living.
[48:55] Um and anytime I see him, he lives in
[48:57] the US now with my cousin and their
[48:59] family. Uh he's like a one-man tourism
[49:02] board for New Zealand. He's not only is
[49:04] he like trying to always get me to go to
[49:06] New Zealand, which I mean, don't got to
[49:07] twist my arm. I would love to go, but
[49:09] he's like, "And here's your 7-day
[49:11] itinerary. You start here and then you
[49:12] go here and you do that. I think all
[49:14] Kiwis are so proud of their country that
[49:16] they can't wait to share it with people.
[49:19] Um, yeah. Any any other thoughts in the
[49:21] chat? A Snoop Dogg biopic.
[49:25] You say biopic or you said biopic,
[49:26] right? I I I used to say biopic because
[49:29] it's spelled the same as biopsy. And
[49:31] then people made fun of me. So now I
[49:33] tried to say biopic, but biopic is what
[49:35] I still
[49:36] >> And do we assume they get kind of an
[49:38] unknown that happens to be 6'5 and
[49:40] really thin to play Snoop Dogg or is
[49:42] there a working actor Davis from Outer
[49:45] Banks?
[49:46] >> Oh, he's already been cast. I
[49:47] misinterpreted. I thought that was a
[49:49] director attached. Okay. Okay. Jonathan
[49:52] Davis. Um I assume he's also the lead
[49:54] singer of Korn, right? That Jonath
[49:56] Jonathan Davis. Okay. Um that's joke
[49:59] folks uh for the Elder Millennial.
[50:01] Another super chat coming in here.
[50:03] >> Two S's.
[50:04] >> Um, Geek Ledger asking, "$5 Super Chat.
[50:06] Thank you, Geek Ledger. You're making
[50:07] those bureaus. We're getting closer to
[50:09] Bureau with every super chat of yours.
[50:10] Uh, what franchise movie announcement
[50:12] would you personally love to see? Maybe
[50:14] a dormant franchise or potentially a
[50:16] reboot remake or whatever.
[50:20] >> I would love some confirmation that Fast
[50:23] Forever is happening."
[50:25] >> Yeah.
[50:26] >> Just because it seems like the only
[50:27] person who cares is Vin Diesel.
[50:29] >> Yeah. Yeah,
[50:31] >> like literally he seems like he's on the
[50:33] streets begging to make it happen. But
[50:35] I'd also love a Universal Monsters.
[50:38] >> I was just going to say I I they they
[50:40] went so hard and fa flamed out so fast
[50:43] at the
[50:45] >> uh Dark Universe with Tom Cruz's Mummy
[50:47] movie a couple years back.
[50:49] >> It's just the cast of the Dark Universe.
[50:52] >> It's it just it flamed out so fast. But
[50:54] like I I would love to see if not like a
[50:57] straight up like, you know, give me a
[50:59] Frankenstein movie. Give me a bride of
[51:00] Frankenstein. Something like that. That
[51:01] is like, you know, uh I I liked Gald Del
[51:04] Toro's like kind of like artsier take on
[51:06] it, but um I I do kind of love just the
[51:09] general Universal monster movies.
[51:12] >> It's also tough because they're all in
[51:14] the public domain now, so you're getting
[51:15] stuff like G Toro's Frankenstein movie
[51:17] on Netflix. Uh Universal doesn't
[51:19] necessarily have the, you know,
[51:21] unlimited rights. So that is a little
[51:22] complicated, but I hear you. I would
[51:23] like that, too. Uh just a quick addendum
[51:26] to Eric's, um Snoop Dog movie. Uh, the
[51:29] film will begin production this summer
[51:30] in Los Angeles with a 2027 release date.
[51:33] We're turning that b that baby around
[51:34] fast.
[51:35] >> That's fast.
[51:35] >> Uh, and um, do we have a is there
[51:37] another tweet or or we have a super
[51:39] chat.
[51:40] >> Oh, here we go. Another tweet. Donna
[51:41] Langley news.
[51:43] >> Okay, here I can read this one. Uh,
[51:45] chairperson of Universal Studios, Donna
[51:47] Langley takes the stage for Universal
[51:49] Showcase at Cineacon. Uh, weirdly, she's
[51:51] doing Past the Kavasier.
[51:53] I'm kidding. Okay. I was trying to think
[51:55] of another uh, rap song from that era.
[51:57] Langley recently committed to 45day
[52:00] theatrical windows for Universal Films,
[52:02] earning praise from film exhibitors who
[52:04] are hoping all studios commit to windows
[52:07] closer to the 60-day range that Disney
[52:09] movies typically have. Universal's
[52:11] commitment isn't too surprising given
[52:14] their courting of Christopher Nolan, DGA
[52:16] president, and one of the industry's
[52:18] strongest advocates for theatrical
[52:20] distribution. So, obviously, pandemic
[52:23] screwed up a lot of stuff. A lot of
[52:24] movies got dropped directly on
[52:25] streaming. But even since then,
[52:27] Universal among all the studios has been
[52:29] pioneering this flexible window where
[52:32] like sometimes as quickly as 17 days
[52:35] after a theatrical release, a movie will
[52:37] be available for paid video on demand.
[52:40] Doesn't mean it's already on Peacock or
[52:41] Netflix or whatever, but you can buy it
[52:43] at home. So, they're saying they're
[52:45] going to stretch that out to 45 days
[52:48] before you can purchase a movie at home
[52:50] to hopefully get more people in
[52:51] theaters. We've got a super chat coming
[52:53] through.
[52:56] Uh, Angel Jorio Bonjovi, maybe Universal
[53:00] will do a movie about him. I guess this
[53:02] is piano speculation
[53:04] >> or or we're hoping for another uh
[53:06] biopic, biopic. You vote in the chat.
[53:08] I'm
[53:08] >> throw in the chat.
[53:09] >> I'm I'm going to I'm going to start a
[53:10] poll here. I'm going to start a poll.
[53:12] >> How about we just call it person pick
[53:13] and then we don't have to worry about
[53:15] pronunciation.
[53:17] >> Um, get his son Jake Bonjovi to play
[53:21] him. Does he date somebody famous?
[53:23] >> He's married to Millie Bobby Brown.
[53:25] >> Oh, that's right. They have a baby.
[53:28] >> Okay. I've started a poll. It is up to
[53:31] you to determine which one you vote for.
[53:34] >> How is it is it obvious?
[53:36] >> Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as
[53:38] is the pronunciation of biopic. Um, so
[53:42] we'll see. We got a lot of people voting
[53:43] for biopic, but also a lot of other
[53:45] people voting for biopic. So, we'll see
[53:47] how it goes. We've got another super
[53:48] chat coming through as we wait for the
[53:50] results of that very important poll. Uh
[53:52] Rohan Chica, I hope I'm pronouncing that
[53:55] right. Rohan or Rohan. Uh do you think
[53:59] we'll get another Andrew Garfield in the
[54:01] werewolf suit type of situation for the
[54:03] Marvel panel? And if so, what do you
[54:06] think it'll be?
[54:08] >> Like, do you think we'll have like a big
[54:09] hidden cameo reveal kind of
[54:11] >> or even even RDJ coming out in the Doom
[54:14] mask?
[54:14] >> Yeah,
[54:15] >> I think that would be cool. They they
[54:17] like an onstage spectacle.
[54:18] >> Will they do it here instead of at
[54:20] Comic-Con or D23 though? You know, like
[54:23] if they're if they're going to do a big
[54:24] event like that, are they going to do it
[54:26] here where there's like less cameras or
[54:28] are they going to save it for somewhere
[54:30] where there's a little bit more
[54:31] publicity on it? You know, this this is
[54:33] ultimately less of a fan convention and
[54:36] more of an industry convention.
[54:37] >> Yeah.
[54:38] >> Um
[54:38] >> it's like at a college football or
[54:40] basketball game, you got the alumni side
[54:41] and the student side, and you always get
[54:43] a bigger reaction out of the student
[54:44] side. That's more like your Comic Con,
[54:46] your public uh event as opposed to this
[54:48] industry event. I And what is he
[54:50] referring to? Andrew Garfield in the
[54:51] werewolf suit. Is that something I'm not
[54:53] remembering? Did he show up at a thing?
[54:55] >> Did he like come out and then like
[54:58] >> was there a reveal? I I'm taking it as
[55:01] as fact that it's true, but I do not
[55:02] remember that.
[55:04] >> We also got some more super chats. Thank
[55:06] you everybody for participating here. Uh
[55:08] Blue Flame Studios 199, believe it or
[55:10] not, I am related to Nick. He is my twin
[55:12] brother. I mean, I do believe it because
[55:15] you're also in New Zealand. So, Blue
[55:17] Flame and and Nick are two New
[55:19] Zealanders. You do not have that big of
[55:21] a country. We have a very representative
[55:24] slice of the population of New Zealand
[55:26] watching the live stream. More power to
[55:28] both of you. Uh, another super chat
[55:30] coming through
[55:32] um from is it Oh, we got a tweet. Never
[55:36] mind. We're gonna do
[55:37] >> a tweet.
[55:37] >> Get to this update.
[55:39] >> Christopher Nolan on stage. Okay, folks.
[55:41] We're talking Odyssey. We got an Odyssey
[55:43] very soon.
[55:44] >> We're going to see if we can get news
[55:45] before Eric self-combusts with
[55:48] excitement from seeing Christopher
[55:49] Nolan. He's breathing the same air. O
[55:52] >> over under 20% uh Christopher Nolan sees
[55:54] Eric in the audience 30 rows back and
[55:57] was like Eric Vaugh.
[55:59] I mean apparently Favro did that to him
[56:01] the other night. So
[56:02] >> Oh yeah. Well, that's a story for
[56:03] another day. Um okay, we got some more
[56:05] super chats we want to get to while we
[56:07] await this Odyssey news. Um,
[56:10] >> did you see that BD gave New Rockstar a
[56:12] plug on his interview with
[56:15] >> Wilson? Wilson Bethl. So that's, uh,
[56:17] Brandon Davis, uh, the actor playing
[56:20] Bullseye. I did not see that, but but
[56:22] shout out to Brandon Davis, a good
[56:24] friend of the channel. We see him a lot.
[56:26] Uh, he's our he's our bud. We appreciate
[56:29] him. And thank you, Marvel Pirate, for
[56:30] for pointing that out for everybody.
[56:31] Yeah, go support Brandon Davis and all
[56:33] the good work he's doing out there, too.
[56:35] Uh, more super chats. Justin Bishop
[56:38] biopic like biography. That's what we're
[56:40] saying.
[56:41] >> Maybe he's saying biop biography.
[56:43] >> No, I'm biopic. I'm team
[56:45] >> bio.
[56:46] >> I think I'm biop biopic, but it's been
[56:48] biopic. It's like Caribbean and
[56:50] Caribbean. Like I say the or Zenaia
[56:52] Zenaia. I know one of them is wrong, but
[56:54] all I know is I have the wrong one in my
[56:56] head.
[56:56] >> I I keep mispronouncing Margot Robbie.
[56:58] Marggo Robi. I mean, that's not even a
[57:01] hard name to pronounce and I still screw
[57:03] it up. Okay, we got more super chats.
[57:04] Thank you, Justin Bishop, for your
[57:06] >> superhat and furious.
[57:08] >> Ryan Snowden, hope we get the sequel to
[57:10] Kungpow Enter the Fist. You know what,
[57:12] Ryan Snowden? You might be the only one.
[57:15] >> Which one was was Kungpow the like
[57:16] cartoony uh kung fu movie or am I
[57:19] thinking of something else?
[57:21] >> There's there's a there was a movie
[57:22] called Shaolin Soccer
[57:25] >> and then there was like a sequel to it.
[57:26] >> I think it is where it was like a mix of
[57:28] like dubbed
[57:29] >> Odoker.
[57:30] >> No, I'm thinking of something else. I'm
[57:32] thinking of something else.
[57:33] >> Um interesting. I I love that's your
[57:35] poll. Uh we got some more super chats
[57:37] coming in. Fast and Furious. Speaking of
[57:39] Fast and Furious, loi girl lore
[57:42] enthusiast, really weird poll, but I
[57:44] want to see a sequel for Bruce Almighty
[57:46] on Evan Almighty. Please announce it.
[57:48] Maybe something with Moses story.
[57:51] >> I would love that. I love Evan Almighty.
[57:54] >> And you know what? Like we were we were
[57:56] just talking in the office earlier about
[57:57] like comedy has been struggling. They
[58:00] don't make a lot of theatrical comedies
[58:02] anymore. you need like some kind of like
[58:05] extra thing on top of it. A little
[58:06] sci-fi twist, a fantasy twist. Feels
[58:08] like that Evan Almighty uh Bruce
[58:10] Almighty. That could be the right thing
[58:12] to get a big movie uh in theaters that
[58:16] is a a comedy. Uh I don't I like that
[58:18] idea. Loi Girl, more Oh, we got an
[58:21] update.
[58:21] >> Uh oh.
[58:23] >> Okay. We're seeing a montage of iconic
[58:26] shots from every single one of
[58:28] Christopher Nolan's films, including the
[58:29] Warner Brothers ones. Huh. set to Lwick
[58:32] Goransson's score from Oppenheimer that
[58:35] transitions to Zimmer's time theme from
[58:37] Inception. According to most of the
[58:39] people in this room, every single one of
[58:41] Nolan shots are iconic and just watching
[58:44] any series of his shots in any order is
[58:46] going to get us pumped. Hell yeah. I
[58:49] mean, so the kind of the irony of this,
[58:51] Nolan is a Universal boy now, starting
[58:54] with Oppenheimer, but he had made most
[58:56] of the movies in his career with Warner
[58:58] Brothers.
[58:58] >> He was a Warner Brothers dude.
[58:59] >> Batman movies. uh Inception,
[59:02] Interstellar The Roll, Warner Brothers,
[59:04] they pissed him off during the pandemic
[59:07] uh with how they dumped a lot of movies
[59:08] on HBO Max uh and what they did to
[59:10] Denville for Dune 1. So he hightailed it
[59:14] over across town to Universal where he's
[59:16] been making movies ever since. Um and
[59:18] now he's kind of king of Hollywood.
[59:20] >> Um okay, we've got another tweet.
[59:23] Standing ovation for Christopher Nolan
[59:25] at at ComicCon. Not a surprise. Another
[59:28] super chat. Thank you, Brian. Cinema Con
[59:31] what did I say? Comic Con
[59:33] is uh Sarah Hatchador and $5 super chat
[59:36] over under 20%. The reason Nolan sees EA
[59:38] Voss in the crowd is because he's
[59:40] hysterically sobbing with excitement at
[59:41] being in the same room as Nolan. A
[59:44] >> absolutely possible. I think over 20%.
[59:47] >> Yeah, he notices cuz Eric's on a gurnie
[59:49] getting wheeled out of getting oxygen,
[59:52] green lasers dotting his forehead.
[59:54] >> Over under 20%. That's an over. Oh, we
[59:56] got another super chat coming through.
[59:59] Lost Chief. Kungpow is like a worse
[1:00:01] version of Kung Fu Hustle, which is the
[1:00:03] film you were thinking of.
[1:00:05] >> Yeah. Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer
[1:00:07] are both great movies. Yes.
[1:00:10] They're so fun. They're so fun. And so
[1:00:12] it's that genre taken to the like
[1:00:14] extreme.
[1:00:15] >> Yes. It's It's just like what if what if
[1:00:17] Jackie Chan had a baby with Looney
[1:00:19] Tunes? Like it's really great.
[1:00:21] >> Let's talk a little bit Odyssey here,
[1:00:24] which is a movie. Sorry. Oh, we never
[1:00:26] even Did you get to say what Universal
[1:00:28] movie you're most excited for? Sorry,
[1:00:29] >> Abby. Abby.
[1:00:30] >> No. And I'm excited for Shrek 5.
[1:00:32] >> Okay, but that's not coming out this
[1:00:34] year. But you're
[1:00:34] >> Okay. This year I'm excited for the
[1:00:37] Odyssey, which is basic.
[1:00:39] >> Do you think Shrek will show up in the
[1:00:40] Odyssey? And if so, who will he play?
[1:00:44] >> Telmarcus.
[1:00:46] >> Um, he he'll play the Trojan horse. Just
[1:00:49] real quick,
[1:00:50] >> we're living in good times. Okay, just
[1:00:54] take in for a second the cast of the
[1:00:56] Odyssey. You probably know this, but
[1:00:57] just the volume of movie stardom that is
[1:00:59] in this movie. Matt Damon obviously
[1:01:01] playing Odysius. Tom Holland Telmakus
[1:01:03] playing his son. Robert Patson, Ian
[1:01:06] Hathaway, Leita Niongo, Zenaia, John
[1:01:09] Barrenthal, Charisse Therone, uh Benny
[1:01:12] Safy, uh he's the guy in the crazy head
[1:01:14] gear. Um, John Leguisamo, Corey Hawkins,
[1:01:18] Elliot Paige, Mia Goth, um, the list
[1:01:21] keeps going and then like a lot of
[1:01:23] character actors you'd recognize. Like
[1:01:25] >> to such an extent that in the trailer
[1:01:27] we've got the trailers we've gotten so
[1:01:28] far, we haven't even seen half these
[1:01:30] people yet because you can't get them
[1:01:31] all in frame. Oh, Travis Scott, that's
[1:01:33] another name. Like it's nuts. It
[1:01:36] >> I think he's playing Homer. That's my
[1:01:38] guess. I My guess is that he's playing
[1:01:39] Homer.
[1:01:40] >> Hell yeah. We got a super chat coming
[1:01:41] through.
[1:01:44] Matthew P saying, "I will on the spot
[1:01:47] self conduct self-combust if The Naked
[1:01:49] Gun 2 with Liam Niss is announced at
[1:01:51] Paramount tomorrow." I mean,
[1:01:54] >> the first one was so good. It was so
[1:01:56] good.
[1:01:57] >> There was a lot of like speculation in
[1:01:59] the trades. That movie, you know, a
[1:02:01] comedy, which there's not many in
[1:02:03] theaters anymore. It like did okay, but
[1:02:07] a lot of people were saying like, did it
[1:02:08] do good enough that it needed to do? We
[1:02:11] don't know. I I too hope I loved that
[1:02:13] movie. That was so funny. Kirk H3213
[1:02:17] uh just became a YouTube member. Thank
[1:02:18] you. Uh welcome. Um I I going back to
[1:02:22] the cast of the Odyssey. I just love
[1:02:24] that we live in a time in which like
[1:02:25] Denuv is like I would like all the movie
[1:02:27] stars. Christopher Nolan's like I too
[1:02:30] would like all the movie stars in my
[1:02:31] movies. Even like you watch the weird
[1:02:33] little Wes Anderson movies he's been
[1:02:35] putting out for the last five or six
[1:02:36] years. He also has all the movie stars
[1:02:38] in his weird little quirky
[1:02:41] >> uh comedies. Like I like when we get
[1:02:43] just a lot of people talk about like
[1:02:45] what makes something feel theatrical.
[1:02:47] Getting all the movie stars in your
[1:02:49] movie certainly helps. We got a we got
[1:02:50] an update from the room from Eric Voss.
[1:02:55] Um our update is Nolan on the Odyssey.
[1:02:58] We have a big one this time. Yeah, baby.
[1:03:01] >> All right.
[1:03:02] >> Just this time. Read on. Nolan continues
[1:03:05] that the Odyssey is a story that has
[1:03:07] entertained audiences for 3,000 years
[1:03:10] and how he has dreamed to tell an epic
[1:03:12] legend on large-scale film. Starting
[1:03:14] with The Dark Knight, he's been trying
[1:03:15] to film larger and larger portions of
[1:03:17] his movies on IMAX. For the first time
[1:03:20] with the Odyssey, 100% of the film will
[1:03:23] be shot on IMAX.
[1:03:26] That said, he's also editing it in other
[1:03:28] formats and promised The Odyssey will
[1:03:31] play on all screens and still be the
[1:03:33] largest and sharpest film in their
[1:03:35] theaters.
[1:03:36] >> Okay, we've got another tweet following
[1:03:37] this up right away.
[1:03:41] Let's see here.
[1:03:44] Christopher Nolan on the Odyssey's huge
[1:03:46] cast. It'll be faster to tell you who's
[1:03:48] not in the film.
[1:03:49] >> My man,
[1:03:51] me. That's who's not.
[1:03:52] >> Yes.
[1:03:54] Well, this is great. I mean, I uh I I
[1:03:58] do, you know, I was a I think a senior
[1:04:00] in high school when Gladiator came out,
[1:04:02] maybe a junior, and like that and
[1:04:04] Braveheart really kind of set the tone
[1:04:05] for me for what big epic movies should
[1:04:07] feel like. And this feels very much like
[1:04:10] a return to that form. We've got a super
[1:04:12] chat coming in.
[1:04:14] Rainbow Dam with a $5 super chat. My
[1:04:17] pitch to DreamWorks liveaction road to
[1:04:19] El Dorado with Oscar Isaac and Pedro
[1:04:22] Pascal. Yes, that'd be great.
[1:04:25] >> Yeah. Um maybe not at the top of their
[1:04:27] live action remake list, but you know
[1:04:29] what? That that could mean it's it's a
[1:04:31] it's a bolder it's a boulder swing. Um
[1:04:35] yeah, back to your point on like
[1:04:36] Gladiator, you know, as big a hit as
[1:04:38] that was and as important as Sword and
[1:04:41] Sandal epics are to like Hollywood
[1:04:43] history. Yeah.
[1:04:44] >> We don't get many of them. No. Like in
[1:04:46] our movie going lifetime, there's been
[1:04:48] Troy, there's been Gladiator 1 and
[1:04:51] Gladiator 2.
[1:04:53] >> Politics.
[1:04:54] >> Yes. Uh and then not a ton else, you
[1:04:58] know. I guess you know there was like um
[1:05:00] there have been a couple Crusades movies
[1:05:02] and obviously that's a very different
[1:05:03] era but kind of can have similar vibes.
[1:05:06] Um I'm excited for uh and this is even I
[1:05:09] mean Tendul the Odyssey is set way
[1:05:10] before the era of Gladiator too, right?
[1:05:13] >> Yeah. I mean, I I just read a book on
[1:05:14] the history of Rome and like, you know,
[1:05:16] it the early Italian history is so much
[1:05:18] looking back specifically to the battle
[1:05:20] at Troy and all the early emperors of
[1:05:22] Rome claim to be able to trace their
[1:05:24] lineages to Anias and all this stuff. A
[1:05:27] lot of uh places in Rome were originally
[1:05:29] Greek settlements, especially on Sicily
[1:05:31] and in that area. So, it's it's it's
[1:05:32] it's something that'll be interesting to
[1:05:34] see. Okay. Uh we got a tweet update.
[1:05:37] >> Footage of the Odyssey is playing at
[1:05:40] Cineacon.
[1:05:41] >> We're seeing a Oh, wait. No, that's an
[1:05:43] old tweet. Okay, so we're going to get
[1:05:44] updates. Eric is furiously transcribing
[1:05:47] everything he's seeing. And so as soon
[1:05:49] as uh he's able to hit send, we will be
[1:05:51] able to recap the footage that we are
[1:05:53] seeing. Um but
[1:05:55] >> will there be a wine dark sea? Will we
[1:05:58] see Rosy Finger Dawn?
[1:06:00] >> Uh another tweet we missed here. While
[1:06:02] praising Matt Damon as a creative
[1:06:03] partner, Christopher Nolan calls the
[1:06:05] Odyssey a nightmare to film. shooting on
[1:06:08] a variety of natural settings and
[1:06:11] weather conditions with the difficult to
[1:06:13] manage, very heavy IMAX camera and
[1:06:15] reels. Yeah. So, you might be asking,
[1:06:18] hey, I've seen a lot of movies in IMAX.
[1:06:20] What does it what does he mean shot 100%
[1:06:22] in IMAX? So, IMAX cameras are famously
[1:06:25] humongous. They're way bigger and
[1:06:27] importantly, they are way louder than
[1:06:30] regular cameras. They make so much noise
[1:06:31] while they're recording that it kind of
[1:06:33] ruins your ability to record sound. But
[1:06:36] but because Nolan's been working with
[1:06:37] IMAX so much for such a long time and
[1:06:39] he's such an important filmmaker, they
[1:06:41] have developed like all these mufflers
[1:06:43] and like new versions of IMAX cameras
[1:06:45] that are quieter than old ones so that
[1:06:46] you can still capture sound better
[1:06:48] supposedly. It's still much harder
[1:06:50] process than using regular cameras.
[1:06:52] We've got a super chat coming through.
[1:06:54] Anthony Stafford saying live action
[1:06:57] Megamind. Now that I think is probably
[1:06:59] going to happen. You might be you might
[1:07:01] be spot on there, Anthony Stafford.
[1:07:03] Also, I want to give uh for all the
[1:07:05] super chatter chatters a bureau update.
[1:07:08] We have uh NR editor Joshua Herd
[1:07:11] trolling through the back end of YouTube
[1:07:12] figuring out where we are at
[1:07:14] cumulatively. Reminder, if we get up to
[1:07:16] 400,
[1:07:17] >> Zach will I can't remember if it's
[1:07:19] shotgun or drink of bureau on camera.
[1:07:21] Shotgun. If we get to 400, we are
[1:07:23] currently at $123.40.
[1:07:26] So, we are a quarter of the way uh to
[1:07:29] getting Zach to pound a hazy IPA or
[1:07:33] something.
[1:07:33] >> This one's a Kingston Golden Pills.
[1:07:35] >> Non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholic.
[1:07:37] >> But but uh again, Tom Holland himself
[1:07:40] cans each one of these. I've been told.
[1:07:43] >> Um okay.
[1:07:45] >> Um also, while we're waiting for Odyssey
[1:07:48] footage, hey, you want to get a t-shirt,
[1:07:49] you want to support the channel, why
[1:07:51] don't you head to nerdriot.shop.
[1:07:53] We got all sorts of designs at
[1:07:54] nerdriot.shop. shop. We got this one for
[1:07:57] Spider-Man Brand New Day, playing off
[1:07:59] that famous meme. Zach's wearing
[1:08:01] breakroom merch.
[1:08:02] >> And I was wearing the shirt in
[1:08:03] yesterday's stream. But speaking of IMAX
[1:08:05] and and formats and stuff like that, we
[1:08:07] have a cool new aspect ratio shirt that
[1:08:09] shows all the different formats compared
[1:08:11] to each other, the different film
[1:08:12] formats. You can find that at
[1:08:14] nerdriot.shop.
[1:08:15] >> Yes. So, if you want to support the
[1:08:16] channel a little extra, go to
[1:08:17] nerdriot.shop. Also, while we're
[1:08:19] stalling, waiting for this Odyssey
[1:08:20] footage, if you're in the LA area, you
[1:08:22] want to see us do a live reading of
[1:08:24] MorbiiUs at UCB Theater on Friday night,
[1:08:28] April 17th at 7 p.m., there's a link in
[1:08:30] the description. You can click and buy
[1:08:32] tickets. If you're not in the LA area,
[1:08:33] don't worry, we got you covered. There's
[1:08:35] live stream tickets there, too, so you
[1:08:36] can watch it from the comfort of
[1:08:38] wherever you are. Um, we have a $2 super
[1:08:42] chat here from Marvel Pirate uh asking
[1:08:46] how much to get everyone to shotgun a
[1:08:49] bureau. I have said if we make it to
[1:08:51] shotgun point, I will shotgun one with
[1:08:53] Zach even though I can't burp and it's
[1:08:55] going to be a nightmare for me.
[1:08:57] >> We could watch your man die on stream.
[1:08:58] >> It might happen. It might happen. Yeah.
[1:09:00] I'm going to I'm going to shotgun a beer
[1:09:02] then quickly change altitude.
[1:09:05] >> I have a higher price point than Okay.
[1:09:07] Say it.
[1:09:08] >> I don't know. Yeah. Name your price.
[1:09:10] Everyone's got a price.
[1:09:11] >> 800.
[1:09:11] >> Yeah. 800 people shotgun. I'm I'm cheap.
[1:09:15] Okay.
[1:09:16] >> Um my my shame is is bargain basement.
[1:09:19] >> Um Okay. Again, we are patiently waiting
[1:09:23] for It must be some a lot of footage
[1:09:24] that they're showing,
[1:09:25] >> I think. So, I mean, this is how it was
[1:09:26] yesterday when the Dune part 3 footage
[1:09:29] came in. They showed seven minutes to
[1:09:30] everybody who was at yesterday's WB
[1:09:33] panel. We knew they were showing it and
[1:09:36] then had to wait for Eric. And kudos to
[1:09:38] Eric, he's doing this very quickly. Uh
[1:09:40] we had to wait for Eric to transcribe it
[1:09:42] all before we could get that like, you
[1:09:44] know, uh a secondhand whiff of Dune part
[1:09:48] three all the way here from from LA.
[1:09:50] >> We should also say while we wait,
[1:09:51] Discussing Film is is reporting Chariss
[1:09:53] Theren is playing Calypso in the
[1:09:56] Odyssey. I don't think we'd gotten
[1:09:58] confirmed roles. We knew these actors
[1:10:00] were in the movie, but not all of their
[1:10:02] roles have been confirmed. So that's um
[1:10:04] great. Was that one of the ones that
[1:10:08] people were thinking maybe Zenaia would
[1:10:10] be?
[1:10:10] >> Yes,
[1:10:10] >> I think Zen I think Zenaia's I thought
[1:10:12] she was confirmed as Athena. Did I make
[1:10:14] that up?
[1:10:15] >> No, I've heard both. I've heard both. Um
[1:10:19] >> uh IMDb currently listing Athena, but I
[1:10:22] don't know. You know, IMDb is not always
[1:10:23] the most accurate.
[1:10:24] >> Yeah. Yeah.
[1:10:25] >> Yeah. Again, this movie will be coming
[1:10:27] out July of this year, same month as
[1:10:30] Spider-Man Brand New Day. It's a big
[1:10:32] month for the Zenaia Holland household.
[1:10:36] >> Big month.
[1:10:37] >> Big two weeks. Big two weeks. Like when
[1:10:39] the two of them like aren't on like
[1:10:41] publicity tours and they just have a
[1:10:42] Saturday, you think they're sitting
[1:10:43] around doing the Sudoku or what?
[1:10:45] >> Just gave $100.
[1:10:46] >> Yeah. Kirk Kirk 3213 with a $100 super
[1:10:51] chat saying bureau shotgun.
[1:10:54] >> For those about to for those about to
[1:10:56] shotgun, we salute you. Man, Kirk. Kirk
[1:10:59] 3213.
[1:11:00] >> You're foaming up. You're foaming up, my
[1:11:02] man.
[1:11:04] >> We're getting a bureau chug.
[1:11:05] >> Zoom in.
[1:11:06] >> We're getting a bureau chug from from
[1:11:08] Zack. This is Bureau. This is Tom
[1:11:10] Holland's non-alcoholic beer product.
[1:11:13] >> We are not being paid to do this.
[1:11:15] >> Yeah. And I should say I'm I am not nor
[1:11:17] have I ever been a skilled chugger. So,
[1:11:19] you'll have to be I mean, this this chug
[1:11:22] will be a trickle.
[1:11:23] >> Amazing.
[1:11:25] Kirk 3213 getting us getting us halfway
[1:11:28] to hero shotgun.
[1:11:29] >> Bless you.
[1:11:30] >> Hang on. Let me see if I can get
[1:11:31] >> We've got something coming in.
[1:11:32] >> Anyone want to match that?
[1:11:33] >> I just wanted to let you guys know cuz I
[1:11:35] don't know if you guys see it. I put a
[1:11:37] little graphic in the bottom now. So,
[1:11:38] there's a goal to 400 for the bureau
[1:11:42] chug.
[1:11:42] >> Oh, beautiful. Okay. Thank you, Brian,
[1:11:44] for that graphic.
[1:11:45] >> Like 57% of the way there.
[1:11:47] >> And you know, again, they're they're not
[1:11:48] a sponsor. I I paid out of pocket for
[1:11:50] these bureaus.
[1:11:52] >> They're also not refrigerated. Well,
[1:11:54] this one has maintained enough of its
[1:11:56] chill, but I got to say, pretty tasty.
[1:11:58] Kudos to you, Tom Holland.
[1:12:00] >> I just want to shout out Nerd Girl Jean,
[1:12:02] who said it's a zatty chug.
[1:12:04] >> Zatty chug.
[1:12:07] >> Okay, I'm I'm I'm most of the way
[1:12:08] through. I know I'm probably getting
[1:12:10] roasted in the comments for not being
[1:12:12] able to chug.
[1:12:12] >> Honestly, everybody's uh We got Meg
[1:12:14] Matty, Zack channeling his inner Florida
[1:12:17] gator frat boy.
[1:12:18] >> Yeah, dog.
[1:12:18] >> Chug chug chug. You can't see, but I'm
[1:12:20] wearing um I'm wearing jeans shorts and
[1:12:23] and slides underneath the table to
[1:12:25] really uh embrace that. Duval.
[1:12:32] >> Okay, great. Uh we have a just a
[1:12:34] straight up question, but I happened to
[1:12:36] catch it. It's video game related, so
[1:12:37] I'm responding to it from Absolute Super
[1:12:39] Cinema. Do you guys expect a Donkey Kong
[1:12:42] movie? I certainly do. I think that uh
[1:12:47] Illumination and Universal are going to
[1:12:49] milk uh their corner of the Nintendo
[1:12:53] shared cinematic universe for everything
[1:12:55] it's worth. I think we're going to get
[1:12:56] solo movies from Donkey Kong. They can't
[1:13:00] do Zelda because of Sony, I don't think,
[1:13:01] unless Sony carved out liveaction verse
[1:13:04] animation rights. I think we'll get a
[1:13:05] solo Star Fox movie. Um I wouldn't be
[1:13:09] surprised if we got a solo uh Peach
[1:13:11] movie. You know, like I I think the
[1:13:14] Toads will become their own Minions
[1:13:15] franchise.
[1:13:16] >> Yes, I think for our our lifetime, much
[1:13:18] like in the Minions Verse, every two
[1:13:20] years we will be seeing some kind of
[1:13:22] Mario movie.
[1:13:23] >> Absolutely.
[1:13:23] >> I did finish the beer. Thank you
[1:13:25] everybody. Um this was again the
[1:13:28] Kingston Golden Pills.
[1:13:30] >> Tasty.
[1:13:30] >> I guess if you're going to be chugging
[1:13:31] one, you want a Golden Pills and not
[1:13:33] like a porter or a
[1:13:35] >> Yes. Richer. Though I will say people
[1:13:37] were mentioning it's still pretty cold.
[1:13:38] I actually think it would have been
[1:13:39] easier to chug if it were closer to room
[1:13:42] temp.
[1:13:42] >> You think so?
[1:13:42] >> Cold, you get a little bit of a of a
[1:13:45] brain freeze kind of a nature. I don't
[1:13:46] know. We'll find out when I chug another
[1:13:48] one 40 minutes from now that is uh much
[1:13:51] warmer. We'll see.
[1:13:51] >> Thank you, Kirk.
[1:13:52] >> Thank you, Kirk.
[1:13:53] >> Thank you, Kirk.
[1:13:54] >> Um,
[1:13:56] yeah, I'm I'm uh we'll have to call an
[1:13:58] Uber for me.
[1:14:00] It does have 5% alcohol.
[1:14:03] >> So, if I drink eight of these, that is
[1:14:05] like consuming one beer.
[1:14:06] >> Beer. I thought the whole thing was that
[1:14:08] it's non-alcoholic.
[1:14:09] >> All non-alcohol. They they make regular
[1:14:11] beer and then they boil off the alcohol.
[1:14:13] So there's always a tiny tiny bit.
[1:14:14] >> It's like It's the same amount of
[1:14:15] alcohol and kombucha.
[1:14:17] >> Yeah.
[1:14:18] >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[1:14:19] >> Uh I think that's why you still have to
[1:14:21] be 21 to buy it.
[1:14:22] >> Oh, really? They carted you?
[1:14:24] >> No, they did not card me.
[1:14:27] >> I got carded recently and I laughed out
[1:14:29] loud. I was like, "Okay, yeah, sure.
[1:14:30] Here you go."
[1:14:32] But that's Yeah, I only did get carded
[1:14:34] because me and the the lady at Ralph's,
[1:14:37] you know.
[1:14:37] >> Yeah,
[1:14:37] >> she knows what's up. She watches the
[1:14:39] channel.
[1:14:39] >> Yeah. Yeah.
[1:14:41] >> Um, Star Fox next up, Pixie Cherub is
[1:14:44] saying, "Yeah, I based on the I've heard
[1:14:46] enough stories of the reaction his
[1:14:48] reveal gets in the theater."
[1:14:50] >> It's great.
[1:14:50] >> Yeah,
[1:14:51] >> it's great. Um, also like Star Fox is
[1:14:54] one of those franchises where the OG
[1:14:57] games I would argue Star Fox 64 is
[1:14:59] better than the S NES Star Fox. Whoa. Uh
[1:15:02] uh chat coming in from Sarah
[1:15:03] Hatchadorian New Rockstars. The footage
[1:15:05] shown was the Trojan horse sequence. Uh
[1:15:08] famously a sequence written 3,000 years
[1:15:11] ago of a horse practicing safe sex. It
[1:15:14] is one of the most moving sequences in
[1:15:16] all literature. And
[1:15:17] >> and by moving you mean
[1:15:19] >> Yes. Yes. in every sense of the word.
[1:15:21] >> We just got demonetized because I did
[1:15:22] this. Uh well, and we've seen some parts
[1:15:26] of the trailer in the trailer and
[1:15:29] they're like covering the guy's mouth.
[1:15:31] uh or whatever from inside. Um yeah,
[1:15:34] that's you know that's going to be a
[1:15:36] sick sequence. Uh what are your guys'
[1:15:40] what are your thoughts, beliefs,
[1:15:43] whatever on some of the creative license
[1:15:47] Nolan is taking as far as like
[1:15:49] historical inaccuracies and blah blah
[1:15:51] blah.
[1:15:52] >> Don't care at all.
[1:15:53] >> I don't care at all.
[1:15:53] >> Yeah,
[1:15:54] >> I don't care. I watch Bridgetgerton.
[1:15:57] I feel like that's same amount of
[1:15:58] accuracy
[1:15:59] >> and and maybe if if it were a filmmaker
[1:16:02] we don't we didn't trust as much and
[1:16:04] didn't have the track record of
[1:16:05] Christopher Nolan, you might be like,
[1:16:07] "What are you doing?" I
[1:16:08] >> I got like two thoughts on it. One is,
[1:16:11] you know, the the Odyssey itself was not
[1:16:14] really written by one person. You know,
[1:16:16] uh Homer was probably the most famous
[1:16:18] performer of it, but it was written over
[1:16:20] the course of several hundred years. And
[1:16:22] also like you know we we think of
[1:16:25] historical accuracies now through our
[1:16:27] modern lens. Uh oh. What happened? We're
[1:16:29] losing our
[1:16:29] >> barrel. Broke the barrel box.
[1:16:31] >> Oh god. Everything's fine guys. I was
[1:16:33] just trying to pull out another one. The
[1:16:34] 12-pack did burst open. So the amount of
[1:16:37] foam that emits from this one.
[1:16:39] >> Twice as much. But yeah, the the amount
[1:16:41] of change between, you know, 3000 B.CE
[1:16:44] and 2,000 B.CE is really not anywhere
[1:16:48] near the same as the change between like
[1:16:50] 1950, you know, like it's it's not even
[1:16:53] close. So, I think Christopher Nolan's a
[1:16:55] great storyteller. I'm I'm perfectly
[1:16:57] happy with him making whatever changes
[1:16:58] he needs for the sake of this film.
[1:17:00] Yeah.
[1:17:01] >> If he's given him different armor cuz he
[1:17:02] thinks it looks sick as hell.
[1:17:05] >> Yeah.
[1:17:06] >> Yeah. Yeah. Go for it. You know,
[1:17:08] >> I got I got no problem with that.
[1:17:10] I don't know. I think who else is making
[1:17:14] any movies about that time period?
[1:17:16] >> Yeah.
[1:17:17] >> Well, I mean, when I
[1:17:19] >> when I watch movies they shot then,
[1:17:22] >> I'm like, "Oh, you know, there you go."
[1:17:24] >> Yeah. No, that was a good joke.
[1:17:26] >> Uh, well,
[1:17:28] >> I could I couldn't riff on it.
[1:17:31] >> So good. It needed to die. Uh, yeah.
[1:17:34] Thank you again, everybody. If you're
[1:17:36] just tuning in, we're watching uh or we
[1:17:38] are reacting live to the Universal
[1:17:42] Studio uh Cinema Con panel. They are in
[1:17:45] Las Vegas. Our very own Eric Voss and
[1:17:47] Jessica Clemens are in the room watching
[1:17:49] Christopher Nolan on stage right now. He
[1:17:51] is showing some clips from the Odyssey.
[1:17:54] Eric Voss is transcribing it furiously.
[1:17:57] We are going to read his transcription
[1:17:59] as soon as that comes in. Um, also
[1:18:02] people have been commenting when you
[1:18:03] watch uh both watching live and maybe
[1:18:05] watching the VOD, they kind of tune into
[1:18:08] the channel, they see that there's a 2
[1:18:10] hour, three hour, 4 hour long stream.
[1:18:12] They're like, is there a shorter
[1:18:13] summary?
[1:18:14] >> No.
[1:18:15] >> No.
[1:18:15] >> But um, Eric Voss will be making kind of
[1:18:18] breakout videos on like really
[1:18:21] noteworthy stuff like he did one for the
[1:18:24] Spider-Man brand new day, Element of the
[1:18:26] Sony panel just released a few hours ago
[1:18:28] on the New Rockstars channel. He also
[1:18:30] recapped the footage that was shown from
[1:18:32] Beyond the Spider-Verse in the Sony
[1:18:34] panel. If there's something that like we
[1:18:36] are able to put out a video on and Eric
[1:18:39] thinks it's noteworthy enough, we'll do
[1:18:40] the same for something that comes up in
[1:18:42] this panel and certainly for tomorrow's
[1:18:43] Disney panel. We've got we've got an
[1:18:45] update here. Let's go to the update.
[1:18:48] >> Super chat update it looks like. Or is
[1:18:50] this a new tweet?
[1:18:51] >> Uh we've got a tweet here. Okay, so I'll
[1:18:53] read it here.
[1:18:54] >> Oh wow. Big one
[1:18:55] >> from here. Okay. Yeah. Oh boy. He he
[1:18:56] recapped it all. The Odyssey footage
[1:18:58] recap from Cineacon. Adysius, Matt
[1:19:01] Damon, washes up on the island of
[1:19:03] Calypso, Charlie's throne, in the debris
[1:19:06] of his broken ship. He says he has no
[1:19:09] memory of anything before Troy. Do I
[1:19:11] have a son? How old is he now? We cut to
[1:19:15] the feast of Menllus.
[1:19:17] >> Menaaus.
[1:19:18] >> Menaaus. Thank you very much. John
[1:19:19] Barrenthal. Helen seated beside him as
[1:19:22] he calls Adysius son Telmachus.
[1:19:24] >> Tmicus.
[1:19:25] >> Tmicus. Thank you. Uh, maybe you should
[1:19:28] be reading this one, B. I'm going to
[1:19:29] continue to butcher these, but uh, Tom
[1:19:31] Holland to come sit beside him. Do you
[1:19:34] know the story of the horse? He asked
[1:19:36] the young man. Yes, Menaaus. Yes,
[1:19:38] >> asks. But do you know it from the
[1:19:40] inside? Uh, then we cut to the Trojan
[1:19:43] horse preview footage shown in front of
[1:19:45] screenings of one battle after another.
[1:19:47] Uh, this Dolby screen is not IMAX.
[1:19:50] Shame, shame, shame, Cineacon. But it
[1:19:52] still looks incredible. Lots of cool
[1:19:54] force perspective and miniatures used to
[1:19:57] make the horse look huge. And the Trojan
[1:19:59] slaves hauling it up the sand look
[1:20:01] massive and real. There's the great shot
[1:20:04] we saw in other footage of the Trojans
[1:20:07] stabbing their sword through the wood
[1:20:08] and one soldier getting stabbed in the
[1:20:10] shoulder while the other Greeks stifle
[1:20:12] his yelp. I only now notice that one of
[1:20:16] the Greeks quickly wipes blood off the
[1:20:18] sword so that the Trojan up top won't
[1:20:20] see the blood.
[1:20:21] >> Very cool. Adysius and Menaaus lead the
[1:20:25] other Greeks out of the horse and sneak
[1:20:27] around Troy, killing guards and rushing
[1:20:29] to get the gates open while they duel in
[1:20:32] a volley with Trojan archers.
[1:20:34] Eventually, they get the gates open and
[1:20:36] a heavily armored Agamemnon
[1:20:39] >> marches in leading hundreds more Greeks
[1:20:41] to sack the city. The editing and action
[1:20:44] are tense. Zero dark 30 in sandals. That
[1:20:48] put that on the poster, Eric Voss. Zero
[1:20:50] dark 30 and sandals. We cut back to
[1:20:52] Menaaus with Telamakus. You know the
[1:20:55] rest. Then a crazy montage of two frame
[1:20:57] at a time insane moments from the film.
[1:21:00] This movie is gonna be wild.
[1:21:02] >> I'm stoked, man. I I grew up My mom was
[1:21:05] a a classics uh scholar. I grew up with
[1:21:08] this crap. I'm stoked for this
[1:21:10] movie. Hell yeah.
[1:21:12] >> Even that description sounds so cool.
[1:21:15] >> Uh we've got another tweet alert coming
[1:21:17] in from Brian. Um,
[1:21:21] uh, Eric saying, "Sorry, I was gushing
[1:21:23] over the Odyssey footage, so I'm a bit
[1:21:25] behind." Bowser voice actor Jack Black
[1:21:27] is on stage to talk about Super Mario
[1:21:29] Galaxy. He introduces the head of
[1:21:31] illumination, Chris Melendandre, who
[1:21:33] praises Jack Black for carrying
[1:21:34] audiences to these Mario movies, calling
[1:21:37] him a true movie star.
[1:21:39] >> That's right. Uh, I mean, big big year
[1:21:42] for Jack Black, who's going to be in
[1:21:44] both Jumanji 4 and is already in Super
[1:21:46] Mario Galaxy. Also, was Anaconda this
[1:21:48] year?
[1:21:49] >> Anaconda was last year.
[1:21:50] >> Was the end of last year. Okay.
[1:21:51] >> Yes. Uh, we've got a super chat coming
[1:21:53] through. Also, we want to shout out uh
[1:21:55] Oh, James Anthony, love you guys. Now,
[1:21:58] drink those beers. Be friend.
[1:22:03] >> Uh, rhymes with Nero. Also, we've been
[1:22:06] talking about beer. We talked about
[1:22:08] beeros all day yesterday. I've been
[1:22:09] talking about beeros in the office. Uh,
[1:22:11] Abby got a little confused. She thought
[1:22:13] that was just my fun little pet name for
[1:22:15] actual beers. I yeah I thought it was
[1:22:17] like a cutwater or something. I was
[1:22:19] like, "Oh, maybe it's like a beer." Like
[1:22:21] I don't know if I just I don't know beer
[1:22:23] that well. So I was like, "Oh." But
[1:22:25] >> I do know Tom Holland. I think I even
[1:22:27] follow Bureau on Instagram or at least
[1:22:30] follow Tom Holland. So I knew I knew
[1:22:33] that when you brought him in.
[1:22:34] >> When you follow Bureau on Instagram, is
[1:22:36] it like is there like a can doing like a
[1:22:38] get ready with me? No, it's like Tom
[1:22:40] Holland and he's like at a brewery and
[1:22:41] he's like guys this like I can't do the
[1:22:44] Tom Holland voice but he's like it
[1:22:45] doesn't even taste like alcohol like you
[1:22:48] know but it's it's it's good and so
[1:22:51] >> shout they're in the chat. Does anybody
[1:22:53] anybody out there consuming NAS
[1:22:55] non-alcoholic beverages? Uh I don't mind
[1:22:58] them. They've they've come a long way
[1:23:00] from the days of os when they all tasted
[1:23:02] awful. I will say my my girlfriend uh
[1:23:05] doesn't drink and so there's a lot of
[1:23:06] non-alcoholic beverages in our house.
[1:23:08] You can get really good uh Athletic
[1:23:11] Brewing Company has a really good Golden
[1:23:13] uh I'm not like an IPA guy. There's a
[1:23:15] lot of NA IPAs.
[1:23:16] >> Uh non-alcoholic Guinness surprisingly
[1:23:19] good.
[1:23:19] >> I saw that in the store when I went to
[1:23:21] get the beer.
[1:23:21] >> Surprising Michelob, they all make their
[1:23:24] own. We've got another super chat coming
[1:23:26] through. Throw in the chat. Uh Joseph
[1:23:29] Bartholomew tip to replace the dropped
[1:23:32] beer. Luckily, the one I dropped was uh
[1:23:35] empty, my friend. This is the one I
[1:23:36] chugged. But also, appreciate the tip.
[1:23:39] And and guys, this one, that one was a a
[1:23:42] pills uh which you know, in the style of
[1:23:44] a Budweiser or whatever. Um this one
[1:23:46] though, a hazy IPA. And I got to say, I
[1:23:49] drink actual beers when I'm not at work.
[1:23:51] And this is my go-to varietal. Anybody
[1:23:53] out there like a hazy IPA? Oh, daddy.
[1:23:56] They're Those are good stuff. So, I I'm
[1:23:58] excited to try this one. I haven't tried
[1:23:59] that before. Um okay. So again, Eric
[1:24:02] Voss, Jessica Clemens are in the room
[1:24:04] for the Universal panel at Cineacon.
[1:24:06] We're going to be reporting everything
[1:24:07] they see.
[1:24:09] >> Okay, great. We got another super chat,
[1:24:11] Brian. Uh
[1:24:13] uh from Sahib Singh98 97 $2 super chat.
[1:24:16] Anyone watch that Avatar movie? I have
[1:24:19] not yet. I learned about it on this
[1:24:20] stream earlier today. They would we
[1:24:23] would be breaking the law if we watched
[1:24:24] that movie because it has been I assume
[1:24:26] you're referring to not Avatar Fire and
[1:24:30] Ash but the leaked animated Avatar.
[1:24:34] >> Sahib could be a huge Una Chaplain fan.
[1:24:37] We don't know. It's impossible to say.
[1:24:40] Um
[1:24:41] >> but yeah, we we have not watched it.
[1:24:43] We've been here at the office catching
[1:24:45] up on
[1:24:46] >> Daredevil the boys. Um uh
[1:24:50] >> Euphoria. Yeah, Euphoria. There's a lot
[1:24:52] going on right now.
[1:24:53] >> Also, we should Oh, we got an update.
[1:24:56] That update.
[1:24:59] >> Uh,
[1:25:00] >> he is talking about the leaked.
[1:25:01] >> Okay. Chris Meladandre talks about
[1:25:03] Minions and Monsters.
[1:25:05] >> The movie is set in the 1920s. All
[1:25:08] right.
[1:25:08] >> As the Minions set out west to Hollywood
[1:25:10] to find another monster to serve.
[1:25:13] >> I guess I am getting my Universal
[1:25:16] Monsters Wish that I wanted.
[1:25:17] >> And you could see like if they show up
[1:25:19] at Hollywood. Yeah. in the 20s are are
[1:25:20] they going to bump into like James Whale
[1:25:22] and like uh you know kind of that early
[1:25:25] I guess 20s would be that's pre-talkis.
[1:25:28] Yeah. A silent film era, right? So, um,
[1:25:32] >> Clara Bo.
[1:25:33] >> Yeah.
[1:25:33] >> Yeah. Buster Katon.
[1:25:35] >> Maybe some Buster Katon. Charlie
[1:25:36] >> Chhat coming in here.
[1:25:39] >> Um, Loi Girlore Enthusiast. Two super
[1:25:41] chat. We better get I am Alex seen for
[1:25:44] two movie. Loi girl lore enthusiast. I
[1:25:46] don't know what this means.
[1:25:47] >> What does that mean?
[1:25:48] >> Tell me what it means. You don't got to
[1:25:49] super chat to tell me what it means.
[1:25:50] I'll just keep an eye out down here.
[1:25:52] >> For two movie.
[1:25:53] >> What does this mean? Fill us in in the
[1:25:55] chat. I I'm looking for your You don't
[1:25:56] got to super chat it again. You already
[1:25:58] gave us the super chat. Just type it out
[1:26:00] there and I'll see if I can figure it
[1:26:01] out.
[1:26:01] >> Is that Is that like an I am legend?
[1:26:03] >> Oh, it's Minecraft.
[1:26:05] >> Oh, I see. I see.
[1:26:07] >> Steve.
[1:26:07] >> I am Steve instead of I am Steve. I am
[1:26:10] Alex.
[1:26:10] >> I see. I see. Okay. Thank you. Thank
[1:26:12] you. Thank you.
[1:26:13] >> It took me a minute.
[1:26:14] >> Okay. All right.
[1:26:15] >> Minecraft were hoping for um we will
[1:26:19] see. Loi girl lore enthusiast. We will
[1:26:22] see.
[1:26:22] >> Minecraft uh one was what? top five box
[1:26:25] office movie though that is a Warner
[1:26:27] Brothers franchise so we will not be
[1:26:28] hearing about that in today's panel or
[1:26:30] probably for the rest of cinema. They
[1:26:32] would have talked about that yesterday.
[1:26:34] >> Yes. And we heard nothing. Mimoa was in
[1:26:36] the room yesterday. He rode in on a big
[1:26:38] Lobo cycle. Uh
[1:26:40] >> um was there doing double duty for
[1:26:42] Supergirl and Dune part three. Um
[1:26:47] today's big celebs seem to be Snoop
[1:26:49] Dogg. For those of you who missed the
[1:26:50] earlier part of the stream, doing a
[1:26:52] Snoop Dogg biopic
[1:26:55] uh uh and starring Jonathan Davis as
[1:26:58] young Snoop Dogg. We've gotten a lot of
[1:26:59] Christopher Nolan news uh and Chris
[1:27:02] Melodandry talking that Minions and
[1:27:03] Monsters will be a 1920s period piece.
[1:27:05] Is this Abbott and Costello meet
[1:27:07] Frankenstein for a new generation?
[1:27:09] >> Oh, that would be dope.
[1:27:10] >> Is that what is it? Hold that ghost.
[1:27:11] Like, is that what what this movie I I
[1:27:13] like the trailer for it. I I'm shocked
[1:27:16] by how much I like the Minions movies. I
[1:27:18] really am. And Jack Jack Black was on
[1:27:20] stage. Jack Black who like you can make
[1:27:22] a decent argument over the last five six
[1:27:24] years like is like the number one movie
[1:27:27] star kind of as far as like huge
[1:27:30] franchise. I mean like again you know I
[1:27:33] know a Anaconda wasn't a humongous hit
[1:27:36] though it was a studio comedy live
[1:27:38] action which you don't see that much but
[1:27:40] like his work across the Minecraft movie
[1:27:42] the Mario movies.
[1:27:44] >> Yeah he's big huge. We got a super chat
[1:27:47] coming in.
[1:27:48] >> Loi girl lore enthusiast hope sing two
[1:27:51] is next two.
[1:27:53] >> I too agree about sing two. It would be
[1:27:55] three though. Now we've already got sing
[1:27:57] exists.
[1:27:58] >> Uh but yeah, they got the piano in
[1:28:00] there. I to my knowledge Snoop Dogg
[1:28:02] wasn't wasn't Tinkle the Ivaries.
[1:28:04] >> Well, did Jack Black I guess he did it.
[1:28:06] >> He's pretty musical. Yeah.
[1:28:07] >> Oh, he is not a member of the Sing
[1:28:10] franchise as far as I know. Math
[1:28:12] McConna, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett
[1:28:13] Johansson are
[1:28:15] >> I'll tell you this. Oh, I meant three.
[1:28:16] Thank you, Loi. Uh, I'll tell you this.
[1:28:19] You want a celebrity sighting, you're in
[1:28:20] LA, go to the Silver Lake Gelson's and
[1:28:24] then walk around the small reservoir
[1:28:26] nearby.
[1:28:27] >> There is a better than 50% chance you
[1:28:29] will see Jack Black just toodling around
[1:28:32] the neighborhood. Yes, he's he's
[1:28:33] frequently walking.
[1:28:35] >> It's a distinctive man. You won't
[1:28:36] accidentally walk by him and not realize
[1:28:38] >> tie-dye. Yes, tie-dye. very loud outfit,
[1:28:42] nice guy, always just like has his
[1:28:44] headphones on, listening to a podcast.
[1:28:45] Don't bother him. We don't want him to
[1:28:47] quit doing his chill vibe thing.
[1:28:48] >> Do we think the podcast he's listening
[1:28:50] to is sneak peek or road to doomsday?
[1:28:51] >> I think it's sneak peek of Road to
[1:28:52] Doomsday. Yeah, it could be Nerd
[1:28:53] Awakenings. It's tough. Join join our
[1:28:55] Underground. Yeah, he's our underground
[1:28:57] producer. Um,
[1:29:00] >> okay. Uh, we got some people in the chat
[1:29:02] asking if we're getting news on Five
[1:29:04] Nights at Freddy's 3 or Fast 11. We
[1:29:07] don't know yet.
[1:29:07] >> Potential there. So, Five Nights at
[1:29:09] Freddy's is a Blumhouse franchise and
[1:29:12] Universal has kind of the distributing
[1:29:15] um arm of of Blumhouse or like Blumhouse
[1:29:17] makes it and then Universal puts it out.
[1:29:19] So, we could get news on that. Uh Five
[1:29:21] Nights at Freddy's 2 was just that was
[1:29:23] just last last winter, right? Last fall.
[1:29:25] Yeah.
[1:29:26] >> Um but they can turn those around pretty
[1:29:28] >> That's a Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is an
[1:29:30] interesting one because that's a
[1:29:31] franchise that has the games obviously
[1:29:33] have a huge following, especially
[1:29:35] online. Um, but I don't think either of
[1:29:37] those movies were particularly
[1:29:38] critically wellreceived or did a ton of
[1:29:41] money. I think the fans loved them.
[1:29:42] >> The first one made a lot more than the
[1:29:44] second one. I think there was big
[1:29:45] diminishing returns on the second one.
[1:29:47] Yeah.
[1:29:48] >> Um, but you know, they're relatively
[1:29:50] inexpensive to make.
[1:29:52] >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[1:29:53] >> That's the thing. There's some great
[1:29:54] interviews. Jason Blum, who's the head
[1:29:56] of Blumhouse, who puts out movies like
[1:29:58] The Purge franchise and Five Nights at
[1:30:00] Freddy's and Megan. He's done like some
[1:30:02] really interesting interviews in the
[1:30:03] past, which I will get to in a second
[1:30:04] right after we address this super chat
[1:30:06] that is coming in. Uh, NG Ravoy, I'm or
[1:30:12] Nego,
[1:30:14] I don't know how to pronounce your name,
[1:30:15] but thank you for the super chat. Odds
[1:30:17] of Mario Kart Fast and Furious spin-off.
[1:30:20] >> This is what I want. This is what I want
[1:30:23] these to be. That's the kind of creative
[1:30:25] thinking we need in Hollywood.
[1:30:26] >> Yes.
[1:30:27] >> There was famously a talk of a Men in
[1:30:30] Black,
[1:30:31] >> was it Ghostbusters cross? No, Men in
[1:30:33] Black 21 Jump Street.
[1:30:34] >> Yeah.
[1:30:35] >> crossover that never happened. But maybe
[1:30:38] this is the kind of crossover we really
[1:30:40] need.
[1:30:40] >> Yeah. I mean, there should just be a
[1:30:41] Mario Kart movie that is just straight
[1:30:43] up a Fast and Furious movie, but like
[1:30:45] with Mario Kart.
[1:30:46] >> Terreta should show up in the Mario Kart
[1:30:48] movie. Yes.
[1:30:49] >> As a Mi a Mi version of Vin Diesel.
[1:30:52] >> We got another super chat. super chat.
[1:30:55] >> Uh, Joseph Bartholomew6253,
[1:30:57] $5 super chat. Hi, I'm Joey. He saved
[1:30:59] the theaters. I've lost four theaters
[1:31:01] near me already. Which movies can save
[1:31:03] the theaters? I'll tell you this, it's
[1:31:04] it's probably the big tentpole ones
[1:31:07] realistically. But what we forget about
[1:31:09] those big tentpole movies is the tent
[1:31:11] pole holds up the tent. If you have
[1:31:13] something like the Odyssey or the Super
[1:31:15] Mario Galaxy movie holding your theaters
[1:31:17] open, that creates places where those
[1:31:19] theaters can take risks on smaller
[1:31:21] films, whether those are like obscure
[1:31:23] artouse things or just smaller budget
[1:31:25] movies that don't have the same kind of
[1:31:27] like ad marketing budget those other
[1:31:28] ones do.
[1:31:29] >> Yes. And and thank you, Joey. And like
[1:31:31] agreed, let's save the theaters. I'm sad
[1:31:33] to hear that you've lost four theaters
[1:31:34] near you. Hopefully, you still have
[1:31:35] plenty of good places to go see movies.
[1:31:37] We need we need them to survive. And and
[1:31:39] there's a We're getting an update here.
[1:31:42] Let's go. right to that uh from Eric in
[1:31:44] the room.
[1:31:46] Um
[1:31:49] we've uh the sequence for Minions and
[1:31:52] Monsters shown at Cineacon evokes the
[1:31:54] first Pixar Toy Story by showing the
[1:31:57] Minions in a classic western scenario uh
[1:32:00] as the minions work together on a
[1:32:02] high-speed train chase uh to stop a
[1:32:05] black hat villain from getting away with
[1:32:07] all the loot. But when a biplane picks
[1:32:10] up the villain, we realize this scenario
[1:32:12] is actually in the 1920s, not the 1880s.
[1:32:16] They weigh the villain down and they the
[1:32:18] chase continues off the studio ranch
[1:32:21] lot. Yeah, this is now Blazing Saddles
[1:32:23] into the streets of golden age
[1:32:25] Hollywood. Lots of chaos as the runaway
[1:32:28] train crashes through the streets,
[1:32:29] giving us some homages to Buster Katon
[1:32:32] in the toppling window frame until the
[1:32:34] director of this western film, voiced by
[1:32:36] Kristoff Waltz, finally brings the train
[1:32:38] to a halt. The director thinks he's
[1:32:40] going to be fired, but his studio boss,
[1:32:43] Jeff Bridges, loves The Minions. The
[1:32:45] movie looks fun as hell. It's going to
[1:32:47] remind people of Who Framed Roger
[1:32:49] Rabbit. Wow.
[1:32:51] >> Yeah. I mean, again, I I am My daughter
[1:32:55] forced me to watch the Minions movies.
[1:32:57] Oh, they're getting a second Minions and
[1:32:59] Monsters scene. Uh, my daughter forced
[1:33:01] me to watch the movies in advance of
[1:33:03] Despicable Me 4, which came out two
[1:33:05] summers ago, I think. Uh, and I kind of
[1:33:07] did it with arms crossed in the way as a
[1:33:09] father you have to watch a lot of
[1:33:11] movies.
[1:33:12] >> I got to tell you, they're like really
[1:33:14] fun. They're great. I don't know why I
[1:33:16] was being such a turd about it.
[1:33:17] >> Anybody going to go as a gentle minion
[1:33:19] opening night?
[1:33:20] >> I think you will. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A
[1:33:22] couple more of those beer.
[1:33:23] >> Am I allowed? Am I too old to be a
[1:33:25] gentleman? Uh, we got a super chat
[1:33:27] coming through though. I do want to come
[1:33:29] back to Joey's uh thing about saving
[1:33:31] theaters. I'm drinking zero Coke.
[1:33:33] Interesting that you say zero Coke as
[1:33:35] opposed to Coke Zero. Is that Are you in
[1:33:37] the Southern Hemisphere? Loi Girl
[1:33:38] Enthusiast uh with y'all. I got Pack
[1:33:41] with me. So kind of Bureau and Coke
[1:33:43] Zero. Okay, now you say Coke.
[1:33:44] >> Beros and Zeros.
[1:33:45] >> Bureaus and Zeros. I mean, those are my
[1:33:46] two favorite beverages. Uh spilled some
[1:33:48] on my keyboard now. My typing is weird.
[1:33:50] Slow down.
[1:33:52] >> Yeah, go fix your keyboard.
[1:33:53] >> Slow down.
[1:33:54] >> Sounds like Yeah, the zero the zero is
[1:33:56] hitting.
[1:33:57] >> Um, but we I want to go back to Joey's
[1:33:59] thing. You know, Cinema Con again, it's
[1:34:00] a theater industry event. All the people
[1:34:02] in the room run theaters, own theaters,
[1:34:04] something like that. They are all
[1:34:05] rooting for theaters to survive. And
[1:34:07] they have this weird relationship with
[1:34:09] the movie studios who are their like
[1:34:10] supplier, right? And they want there've
[1:34:13] been complaints since the pandemic and
[1:34:14] then we had the strikes and everything
[1:34:16] like that. There's been the studios have
[1:34:18] been putting out fewer movies than they
[1:34:20] were putting out pre- pandemic. And so
[1:34:22] movie theaters have been complaining
[1:34:23] about multiple things, but a big one is
[1:34:25] just the volume of wide releases is
[1:34:28] lower than it has been historically. So,
[1:34:30] uh, we're getting the same number of big
[1:34:33] Marvel type movies and whatever as we
[1:34:35] always have. It's that kind of middle
[1:34:36] and lower tier.
[1:34:38] >> It's that F1 tier.
[1:34:39] >> Yes. you know that that we are not
[1:34:41] getting because it's great when you get
[1:34:43] people to come in to watch the Odyssey
[1:34:45] or to watch Spider-Man brand new day.
[1:34:47] That's wonderful. Everybody's going to
[1:34:48] go see those movies, but you need
[1:34:50] something for them to come back and see
[1:34:51] the next week and the week after that
[1:34:52] and the week after that. And that's what
[1:34:54] theaters have not been getting. So
[1:34:55] hopefully um I think there are more wide
[1:34:58] releases scheduled for this year, like
[1:34:59] 20 more than came out in 2025. So
[1:35:02] hopefully that goes a long way into
[1:35:04] helping the theatrical industry. Uh
[1:35:06] we've got a little super chat rolling
[1:35:08] in. Um, from
[1:35:12] uh Sarah Hatch, Dorian, thank you so
[1:35:13] much. Considering they already showed
[1:35:15] covered the Odyssey, what do you expect
[1:35:17] Universal to close with today? Also, do
[1:35:19] you think we'll get any big surprises
[1:35:20] for the studio? I think if we already
[1:35:23] got the Odyssey, I think they're closing
[1:35:24] with Disclosure Day.
[1:35:26] >> I bet I bet we get Spielberg on stage.
[1:35:28] >> I bet he gets if not the same amount of
[1:35:31] applause as Nolan. Pretty damn close.
[1:35:33] We've got an update from Eric.
[1:35:39] You dead, Brian?
[1:35:40] >> Brian just spilled a Coke Zero all over
[1:35:42] his keyboard. Um, okay. We've got uh
[1:35:46] Oh, another Minions uh and Monsters
[1:35:49] scene. The second scene of Minions and
[1:35:51] Monsters at Cineacon shows the Minions
[1:35:53] being brought into a 1920s Hollywood
[1:35:56] soundstage. There are nods to Cleopatra
[1:35:58] singing in the rain and lots of classic
[1:36:00] Golden Age films. fun detail. We see the
[1:36:03] film dailies being handed over to a row
[1:36:06] of female editors doing this kind of
[1:36:08] critically important editing and
[1:36:09] assistant editing work was actually done
[1:36:12] by women back then. Kristoff Waltz's uh
[1:36:14] director character puts the minions in a
[1:36:16] battle scene with Vikings. They actually
[1:36:18] beat up the stunt actors with a variety
[1:36:19] of melee weapons, plungers, and
[1:36:21] chainsaws. The crew loves it.
[1:36:24] >> I love this. I also hope that this movie
[1:36:27] gets like a bunch of tween inspired to
[1:36:29] go dig into classic Hollywood.
[1:36:31] >> Yeah, go check out the references and
[1:36:32] see the references. Uh, we've got a
[1:36:34] super chat coming through.
[1:36:36] Uh, Evan Swan saying, "I wonder if we
[1:36:40] get any news on the Sabrina Allice
[1:36:42] Wonder musical." Alice in Wonderland
[1:36:44] musical tonight. Universal is making it.
[1:36:46] >> It would be smart of them to piggyback
[1:36:48] off of Coachella. Yeah. Abby,
[1:36:50] >> you know anything about this?
[1:36:51] >> I mean, I I do know that it's happening.
[1:36:53] It's with um Loren
[1:36:56] Scarferia.
[1:36:58] >> Oh yeah. From Hustlers.
[1:36:59] >> Yes.
[1:37:00] >> Yes.
[1:37:00] >> And so um I'm excited. I wonder if it'll
[1:37:04] be kind of similar to Warner Brothers.
[1:37:06] Um where it gets like maybe a title or a
[1:37:11] date at the end of the panel because I
[1:37:14] don't know how far in development. Or
[1:37:15] maybe that's what the piano is for.
[1:37:18] >> Still haven't figured out the piano.
[1:37:20] >> Yeah, I'm used to listing it as in
[1:37:22] pre-production. doesn't have a slate or
[1:37:24] a date listed. Um, so yeah, and really
[1:37:27] it's just yeah, Lorraine Scafaria, who I
[1:37:31] think at one time, uh, what's his name?
[1:37:33] The stand-up comedian that did Inside,
[1:37:36] Bo, um, Bo Burnham, they were partners.
[1:37:39] I don't know if they're still together.
[1:37:40] Anyways, that's unrelated to Sabrina
[1:37:42] Carpenters's movie.
[1:37:43] >> More super chats coming in. Uh, Hermes
[1:37:46] has wormies, giving five dollars, saying
[1:37:48] bone horse, bone horse, bone horse,
[1:37:51] >> bone ponies in the chat. Hermes has
[1:37:53] wormies. Uh, bless you. Um, shout out.
[1:37:56] You know what? Everybody in the chat's
[1:37:58] doing a great job. And I understand this
[1:38:00] is maybe not the most exciting panel we
[1:38:01] could be covering. I'm a little
[1:38:03] disappointed with the lack of over under
[1:38:05] 20% today.
[1:38:07] >> I don't think there's been one.
[1:38:09] >> We've gone way a couple. We've
[1:38:11] >> gone under on the over under 20%. Okay.
[1:38:14] I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
[1:38:16] >> Yeah. And this is And we we were gonna
[1:38:18] make merch. We still might. We still
[1:38:20] might. Uh, okay. We've got a tweet uh uh
[1:38:24] signal from Brian. Chris Melod
[1:38:26] Melodandre explains how Minions and
[1:38:28] Monsters. The advent of sound in film
[1:38:30] with talkies and the death of silent
[1:38:31] films has doomed the Minions films
[1:38:33] prospect as they're unable to record
[1:38:35] dialogue. See, very singing in the rain.
[1:38:38] The film's a love letter to Hollywood.
[1:38:41] >> I'm in. This might be my first Minions
[1:38:42] movie. I need to consume not on an
[1:38:44] airplane.
[1:38:45] >> I have to say Singing in the Rain is
[1:38:47] there's a lot of movies that will be
[1:38:49] recommended to you that are old movies
[1:38:51] that you know I bet were great when they
[1:38:54] came out but haven't really aged very
[1:38:56] well either like just the rhythm of them
[1:38:58] is off compared to modern rhythms or
[1:39:00] it's not what you're used to. Singing in
[1:39:02] the Rain is fantastic. Like if you've
[1:39:06] never seen it because it came out 70
[1:39:08] years before you were born, no judgment.
[1:39:10] Go watch it. It's a great time. a super
[1:39:13] young Debbie Reynolds. So, it's
[1:39:14] basically a Star Wars movie.
[1:39:16] >> Yeah, technically. Technically, it's in
[1:39:18] canon.
[1:39:18] >> Um, we've got we've got a raft of super
[1:39:20] chats we're going to get through here as
[1:39:21] we get more updates. Uh, Matthew P. BTS
[1:39:25] question. Assuming you all are AMC
[1:39:27] A-list members. How many movies do you
[1:39:29] average a week? Since I have a full-time
[1:39:31] job, I average two a month. Wish more.
[1:39:34] >> Uh, I'm not an A-list member. I should
[1:39:36] be, but I'm bad uh financially. I know
[1:39:39] for a fact Jessica Clemens is an A-list
[1:39:42] member and probably leads all New
[1:39:43] Rockstars employees in volume of movies
[1:39:46] she absolutely
[1:39:47] >> um she is she maxes out her A-list.
[1:39:50] She's seeing everything that comes out
[1:39:52] sometimes more than once. Um I probably
[1:39:55] get to the I don't get to go to the
[1:39:56] theater as much as I'd like you to. I'm
[1:39:58] probably at about two a month. How How
