[00:00] hope i didn't keep you waiting wolf among us 2 finally got shown off it's real it's happening uh and i got to check out a special

[00:20] behind closed doors demo and let me tell you it's pretty good i'm excited let's talk about it My biggest takeaway from the thing is that it is a Telltale game through and through.

[00:34] And I mean that in like the best way possible. It looks and feels exactly like those old Telltale games, but it's on a modern engine. I believe it's Unreal Engine 5. But the team, I was talking with the creative leads about it.

[00:46] They said they took a lot of great care to really like recapture that feel and vibe of those Telltale games while also modernizing them. So, you know, old Telltale games, they can look kind of janky.

[00:58] You know, there's that like Telltale stiffness in some of the animation. This feels improved, but it had that vibe in the way in the camera shots felt and looked. It was honestly, it felt like no time had passed. Like, oh, it's just here it is.

[01:10] Another Telltale game, another Wolf Among Us, which I think is awesome. Like, that's really exciting and cool and speaks to the confidence and expertise of the team making this game. A lot of them are former Telltale folks who worked on the original game, and it really shows.

[01:27] I will say I'm curious how people will feel about the way it looks. I think it looks good but Dispatch has kind of up the bar for what people expect with this game Like that game looks really good And I don think this game looks as good as that However where Wolf Among Us

[01:44] is kind of got a leg up on Dispatch is it feels a lot more like a video game in terms of interactivity. A big thing they're adding to this one is they're expanding on the exploration sections

[01:57] where you actually control Big B and you're moving around in full 360 degree camera. like you have like complete control of bigby this time and you're walking around this environment where you're trying to uh find clues you're uh actually puzzle solving this time like that's a

[02:13] big thing they're adding to this one is you're actually solving puzzles and and exploring and picking things up and that all kind of feeds into what they're the big thing they're trying to drive with the gameplay is they actually want you to feel like a detective this time around and so

[02:27] So that's kind of like feeding into that fantasy of actually playing Big V and tracking down this killer. It's nothing revolutionary or complex, but I do think it adds a lot of gameplay variety that the original was kind of lacking.

[02:42] So I find it to be a really good improvement. I think it's worth noting that if you're somebody who's like, I don't want puzzles, I just want the story. They do have a button you can press that will give you hints if you're stuck.

[02:55] stuck or you could just straight up say like auto solve this puzzle for me. I don't want to do this. So I think that's pretty cool that they're kind of adding new elements, but also recognizing that people come to this thing mainly for the story. Speaking of the story, the we got to kind of go into a little bit of

[03:11] what the story is about. The section I played takes place in like the later half of the first episode So Big B is working with a human named Faye who has reached out to him to try and find

[03:25] this sort of like serial killer that's been committing these gruesome murders and they're working together. What seems to be the interesting dynamic of this game is there's more interaction between the fables and the humans and which wasn't really quite a thing in the first one.

[03:39] The first game did a good job of establishing all the fables and now you're kind of seeing the way they interact with with humans and uh you have this so having bigby actually have a human partner uh who you can like choose whether you want to reveal that like magic is real

[03:54] to her or not is super interesting that seems to be like one of the big choices they kind of show that could affect that so i find that very exciting there's obviously a lot about the story that is still unknown but it is a direct sequel to the first they said it takes place only six

[04:10] months after so i uh fully expect a lot of those consequences to um kind of like feed into each other right like the stories are going to be connected in some way another thing that i'm

[04:22] very glad is all of the major cast from the first game is returning uh big b same voice actor uh i asked about snow who wasn't shown in the trailer but they did confirm to me snow is in the game

[04:36] same voice actress. And they said that you can expect a lot of other characters from the first game to return, which is awesome, along with a bunch of new characters, new fables. It's crazy. Like, it's very impressive they were able to just get

[04:49] that entire cast back after all these years. But that I think that very important to making this game feel like a true a true sequel to uh the original uh but the last thing that really ties this whole thing together

[05:02] for me is they confirmed that uh jared emerson johnson is returning to do the score uh if you don't know jared scored pretty much every telltale game has done some of the most iconic soundtracks

[05:15] of all time in my opinion a wolf among us included i love that soundtrack and so they got him back to do this game uh it what i heard sounds like exactly what i want to hear from um like that

[05:29] moody jazzy you know uh 80s new york noir kind of vibe it's perfect um and that kind of encapsulates really my feelings on my time with uh the wolf among us 2 is that there was so much time that

[05:46] has passed between the original game and this one it's had such a troubled development that But I was really concerned, one, if the game was even going to come out at all, which thankfully it is, but how much they would be able to kind of recapture the magic and the spirit of the original.

[06:03] And walking away from this demo, I felt supremely confident that, like, this game is in the right hands. The people working on this know what they're doing. They understand the original game, the source material.

[06:17] They care a lot. and it just it felt like another wolf among us which is like exactly what i wanted so i'm very excited uh hopefully we get to see more of it soon uh when it comes out uh i believe next year

[06:30] 2027 but until then stay tuned to game spot for all coverage on video games
