Mythic Plus Pug Healing Guide 2023
45sOpens with a clear value proposition for healers and non-healers, promising insider knowledge.
▶ Play ClipThis guide covers essential addons, mindset, and techniques for healing Mythic+ dungeons in World of Warcraft, focusing on pug groups. It emphasizes personal responsibility, efficient mana management, and the importance of communication and cooldown planning.
Be personally responsible for your play; use tools like Nvidia Shadowplay to review mistakes. Don't take criticism personally—learn from it and move on.
Server region names and class colors weak auras help identify group location and composition, making it easier to find suitable keys.
Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs provide callouts that reduce mental stack and help focus on mechanics. Highly recommended for all players.
As key holder, use /rc for ready check and /pull for a 10-second countdown to allow pre-pull setup and polite coordination.
Use the Mythic+ dungeon journal for boss info, watch runs on YouTube/Twitch, and use Mythic Dungeon Tools for route planning and mob details.
DPS must use interrupts and crowd control; some abilities become lethal at higher key levels. Track deaths with Details to learn.
Talent into mana regen, learn low-mana play, use mana pots, and communicate when you need to drink. Manage mana to avoid being caught empty.
You control team survival; call for personals, focus targets, and warn about mechanics like frontals or storming.
Fortified and tyrannical weeks require different cooldown usage. Plan around specific pulls and phases; adapt per healer class.
Estimate damage as percentage of health; keep a buffer (e.g., if a hit does 40%, keep players above 50-55% to prevent death).
Set up nameplates to see target of next cast; helps predict who will take damage and allows you to prioritize healing or let tanks handle it.
Tracks cooldowns of party members' mitigation and health pots. Know when tank has no defensives or a player is out of cooldowns.
Ensure party frames show debuffs clearly; use features like ElvUI's color change for dispellable debuffs. Keep health pots accessible.
Weaving damage into healing saves time; at high keys, healer DPS can be the difference between timing and failing a key.
Experiment with builds but cross-reference meta builds as keys get harder (20+). Understand why meta works, but use easier builds while learning.
Start with low keys, use the recommended addons, and focus on communication and cooldown planning. As you improve, incorporate damage weaving and meta builds to succeed in higher Mythic+ content.
"Title accurately describes a comprehensive healer-focused Mythic+ pug guide; delivers on promised addons, mindset, and techniques."

9:02[00:00] welcome to the Mythic plus pug healing
[00:03] guide 2023 my name is Bowser the Healer
[00:06] and if you're not a Healer player don't
[00:08] worry there's still a lot of very good
[00:10] Mythic plus information here but then
[00:13] eventually we're going to transition
[00:14] into more healing based things so if you
[00:15] want to get into the mind of a Healer
[00:16] you're also in the right place down
[00:18] below I'm going to have everything I can
[00:20] possibly grab linked my add-ons my
[00:23] profiles my Wii cores you name it I'm
[00:25] going to try to have it down below no
[00:27] pay walls no nothing like that I only
[00:28] ask that you hit the like button if you
[00:30] like the video and you get subscribed if
[00:32] you want more content like this but
[00:33] there's a ton to go through let's get
[00:35] into it use the comment section if you
[00:36] have any questions Mythic plus culture
[00:39] so it's a bit of a wild west out there
[00:41] my only request to you as a player is
[00:44] that you're personally responsible for
[00:45] your place so if you have something like
[00:47] Nvidia Shadow play like an instant
[00:49] replay system that's wonderful for
[00:51] double checking things that go wrong or
[00:53] things that go incredibly well you can
[00:55] use things like details to track damage
[00:57] taken or deaths to kind of see what
[00:59] people were doing wrong or getting him
[01:00] by the most there's lots of tools out
[01:03] there and players they're gonna vary
[01:05] you're gonna have groups that do amazing
[01:06] in groups that do terrible you're gonna
[01:08] have people calling you out for mistakes
[01:10] that are completely right you got to
[01:11] take that on the chin and just learn and
[01:13] then you're gonna have people calling
[01:14] you out for mistakes that have no idea
[01:16] what they're talking about so try not to
[01:19] get too personally invested right if a
[01:21] group falls apart try to be nice and
[01:23] just go next it's the best advice I can
[01:26] give okay on to some weak auras we got
[01:29] two here they're both gonna display in
[01:30] the party finder window and these make
[01:32] finding groups a heck of a lot easier
[01:34] the server region names is going to tell
[01:36] you where the group is located that's
[01:39] going to help you avoid any unnecessary
[01:41] lag and so you don't have to memorize a
[01:42] bunch of server names and where they are
[01:44] the week or for class colors is just
[01:46] going to display what classes are in a
[01:49] key they're not going to necessarily be
[01:50] able to give you specializations outside
[01:52] of uh the process of elimination it can
[01:54] be great to go into a dungeon knowing
[01:56] hey this group has two battle resses or
[01:59] oh there's a there's a there's a priest
[02:01] in this party we're gonna have mass
[02:02] dispel that sort of thing is an absolute
[02:05] godsend and also if you want to find a
[02:07] good meme key right like four Warriors
[02:09] and a Healer or a whole monk party this
[02:13] is another great way to find those keys
[02:15] I have some pretty strong opinions about
[02:17] this one deadly boss mods and bigwigs I
[02:20] honestly think basically every player
[02:22] should have them installed if you don't
[02:23] like how invasive they are they're very
[02:26] customizable so I highly recommend
[02:28] customizing them but we we know this
[02:31] from Esports we know this from Sports
[02:32] and from rally racing and all sorts of
[02:34] disciplines having call outs just helps
[02:37] with the mental stack it helps players
[02:39] focus on their gameplay while still
[02:41] doing mechanics it's great it's super
[02:44] useful highly recommend you set it up I
[02:46] would not be entering Mythic Plus
[02:47] without it it's it's simply too good
[02:50] it's too strong and it'll make you a
[02:52] better player if you're the Keystone
[02:54] holder and it's your run that you're
[02:56] posting make sure that you initiate a
[02:58] ready check you can use Slash RC for
[03:00] this and a pull timer once everyone's
[03:03] ready with Slash pull slash pull by
[03:05] default will do 10 seconds players have
[03:07] pre-pull things to do but they always
[03:09] want to set up and even if they don't
[03:11] it's a nice polite way to tell people to
[03:13] Tab out of whatever internet browser or
[03:15] something that they're doing and be
[03:17] ready to play
[03:18] for learning dungeons I have a couple of
[03:21] piece of advice first and foremost the
[03:23] Mythic plus dungeon Journal actually
[03:25] gives you a ton of information short
[03:27] reads great for bosses it's a good start
[03:29] but if you need more my best advice is
[03:32] find a favorite YouTuber go watch them
[03:34] do a run on Twitch or on YouTube and
[03:37] you'll get a general sense of the route
[03:39] if you want to get into the nitty-gritty
[03:41] though Mythic dungeon tools is an add-on
[03:43] that's simply a mapping tool for routes
[03:45] and you can click into every single mob
[03:47] see what they cast see what kind of CC
[03:49] is uh usable on them incredibly powerful
[03:52] tool but what if that intimidates you a
[03:55] whole percent business well unless
[03:56] you're a tank it's not really your job
[03:58] so you'll learn those magical little
[04:00] percent numbers as you play try not to
[04:03] make that something you're stressing
[04:04] about as a Healer because we already
[04:06] have enough things to stress out about
[04:08] interrupts CC and off healing for your
[04:11] DPS player are mandatory at this point
[04:14] in World of Warcraft so make sure you
[04:16] have them on hand and they're easy to
[04:18] hit you will learn as the key levels go
[04:20] up some moves you have to interrupt them
[04:23] and then other moves can be ignored but
[04:25] as that key level goes up there are some
[04:28] things that go from like oh that hurts
[04:30] to oh that's lethal details is an add-on
[04:32] that lets you track DPS in healing but
[04:35] it also lets you track a ton of other
[04:36] things too and one of the ones I
[04:38] mentioned earlier are track some deaths
[04:40] it's not toxic to see why people died
[04:43] it's in fact super useful because you
[04:46] can learn some very Niche things about
[04:47] the game and you can also learn like hey
[04:49] what move is that oh I could have
[04:50] interrupted that or oh that's a frontal
[04:52] I didn't know that mob had a frontal and
[04:54] that kind of information again it just
[04:57] saves lives so have a death window thank
[04:59] me later okay so now on to more of the
[05:02] healing side of things Mana management
[05:04] is important on every single healer
[05:06] first of all make sure you are talented
[05:08] into your Mana region of whatever your
[05:10] class does and learn how to play in low
[05:13] Mana spend time reviewing what you can
[05:15] do that doesn't cost a ton of Mana see
[05:18] if you have any combinations or spells
[05:20] that you can use that might be even Mana
[05:22] positive it is important that we yell
[05:24] the tank sometimes that we need a drink
[05:26] before we go into the next boss fight
[05:27] but I've had bosses that get pulled and
[05:31] I'm at 20 mana and what do you do you
[05:33] gotta work with what you got so the
[05:35] better you can manage your Mana the
[05:37] easier your life is but make sure you
[05:39] have a stack of Mana pots around it's a
[05:41] very good investment make sure you speak
[05:43] up as a Healer you are in control of the
[05:46] lives of the team so telling people use
[05:48] personals or Focus this enemy down will
[05:50] help save you the amount of healing you
[05:52] need giving you a little more free time
[05:53] free time is useful for doing damage or
[05:56] interrupting things or positioning my
[05:58] favorite line to say of all time is
[06:00] during no coup defensive during the
[06:02] storm boss I'll say move in on storming
[06:04] or die works every time another good one
[06:06] is watch for frontals or stop getting
[06:09] hit by frontals again it's okay to say
[06:12] those things don't worry about it plan
[06:14] your cooldowns as the key levels get
[06:16] harder fortified and tyrannical hit very
[06:19] different you'll have very hard phases
[06:21] of damage but they might vary from week
[06:23] to week or from pull to pull and it's
[06:25] not Universal sometimes it's class to
[06:27] class I have some setups in the Ruby
[06:28] Life Pools or preservation evoker to
[06:31] deal with the blazebound Destroyers and
[06:33] their infernal cast yeah I gotta save
[06:34] temporal anomaly and cycle my cooldowns
[06:37] correctly but like yeah I could just
[06:39] spin on mystreeper so it's important to
[06:42] plan things out but just remember that
[06:44] it's not always going to be the same
[06:45] across all healers okay I'm gonna try
[06:47] not to scare anyone with this one doing
[06:49] short math on incoming damage so let's
[06:52] say a spell hit someone for 40 of their
[06:54] health bar that means in theory that if
[06:57] they are 40 health and they get hit they
[06:59] would die but that's also sort of
[07:01] cutting it close right so I always like
[07:03] to give them a 10 20 Health buffer ah
[07:06] that spell does about 40 damage or 40
[07:08] percent of their health right okay then
[07:10] I'm not gonna let them drop below 50 or
[07:12] 55. there are situations where you can't
[07:15] just keep people topped up as a Healer
[07:17] and so it's important while you're doing
[07:19] damage or interrupting or whatever the
[07:20] heck you're doing that you can stop and
[07:22] go hey that person's a little low I
[07:25] don't want them to die one thing you can
[07:26] do that really helps though is making
[07:27] sure that your plates are set up your
[07:29] enemy nameplates are set up in such a
[07:31] way that you can see who they are
[07:33] targeting for their next cast this is
[07:35] great for a you can know who's about to
[07:37] get double bolted by something and B
[07:39] it's also useful for oh that one's gonna
[07:41] hit the tank okay well the Tank's fine
[07:43] the tank can handle it or hey that
[07:45] Warrior probably has spell reflect up I
[07:47] can let them reflect it and of course if
[07:49] they don't reflect it you should go
[07:50] check if spell reflect is now on
[07:52] cooldown
[07:53] speaking of omni CD is an add-on that I
[07:56] use that lets you track cooldowns most
[07:58] things show up in Omni CD I'll have my
[08:00] profile down below that covers most
[08:02] mitigation active mitigation and health
[08:04] pods it's really important to know when
[08:07] your tank has absolutely no gas left and
[08:10] you need to start babysitting them or if
[08:12] a player has been targeted by too many
[08:13] mechanics you can see they have nothing
[08:15] left you can put a bubble on them or
[08:17] whatever you need to do to keep them
[08:18] alive and while we're on interface make
[08:20] sure for whatever you use for party
[08:22] frames you can see debuffs make sure
[08:25] it's very visible as the dbm and bigwig
[08:28] Style mods don't always call out every
[08:30] nasty disk spell I know lvui has a
[08:33] feature where the health bar would turn
[08:34] like an alternative color when there's a
[08:36] dispel you can manage features like this
[08:38] are a game changer especially for new
[08:40] healers Health pods you should have a
[08:43] fat stack of these within easy reach as
[08:46] a Healer you don't really use them when
[08:47] DPS use them you use them when you're
[08:49] busy healing other people and can't stop
[08:51] to heal yourself their own gcd so you
[08:54] can use them right after casting a spell
[08:56] or right before you cast a spell it's
[08:58] very very important that you don't die
[09:00] as the Healer damage is time save I have
[09:03] an entire video on this topic if you
[09:05] want to watch it once you're in the 15
[09:07] and Beyond category I want you to start
[09:09] knowing how to weave in your damage
[09:11] there's footage that's been playing this
[09:13] whole time I had a super close Temple of
[09:14] the Jade serpent 23 it went down to a
[09:17] couple of seconds if you do the math of
[09:19] the combat time and my percentage of
[09:21] damage you'll find out that in that boss
[09:23] fight alone I save 12 seconds due to my
[09:25] DPS yeah if if I wasn't doing damage we
[09:28] probably didn't time that boss fight
[09:30] it's that important at high level play
[09:32] be flexible coming up with their own
[09:35] builds is fun and it's more than viable
[09:37] and I encourage it but as the content
[09:39] gets harder especially towards the 20
[09:42] range or whenever gear score starts
[09:43] letting up make sure you have
[09:45] cross-reference The Meta builds metagame
[09:48] is inevitable and I've also done an
[09:50] entire video on that on my old Channel
[09:52] but there will be a point where you run
[09:55] into trouble healing or doing damage or
[09:57] helping control a pack and you can't be
[09:59] doing something subpar if it starts
[10:01] costing entire runs this isn't a huge
[10:04] deal again until that 20 and Beyond
[10:07] category you can get away with a lot of
[10:09] fun builds it's very important as you
[10:11] start getting better at the game that
[10:12] you do cross-reference more meta builds
[10:14] so you can understand the why and the
[10:16] how that being said sometimes there are
[10:19] easier builds that work well with
[10:21] different stat weights so if you're
[10:22] learning a class and something is a
[10:24] little bit easier to start off with for
[10:26] healing it's okay to use that while
[10:28] you're learning just again be sure to
[10:30] cross-reference the more meta builds so
[10:32] that as you get better you can swap to
[10:34] maybe more efficient talents also note
[10:36] that the game gets easier the more your
[10:38] rotations and buttons become second
[10:40] nature this is something I see across
[10:43] all of Esports but the less time you
[10:44] need to spend looking at your bars and
[10:47] the more time you could say focus on the
[10:49] fight itself in your party frames the
[10:51] easier your life gets but this is a time
[10:54] thing let your brain do its whole
[10:56] neuropathway thing and learn it will
[10:58] come to you I really wish I had a list
[11:01] like this when I was first learning how
[11:02] to learn there were a lot of pieces of
[11:04] information that players weren't telling
[11:06] me about Dungeons and about runs that I
[11:08] just wish I had a better understanding
[11:09] of start with low Keys there's nothing
[11:12] wrong with learning on the lower end of
[11:13] things as you work up the gear score and
[11:16] the ability to start doing higher keys
[11:18] but that's going to do it for this video
[11:20] again hit like if you liked it hit
[11:22] subscribe if you want more and I will
[11:24] see you all in the next one take care
[11:26] friends
