[00:09] know is how dramatically different the

[00:10] payouts can be based on the type of

[00:12] content that you're making. In today's

[00:14] video, I'm breaking down exactly how

[00:16] much YouTube pays per 1,000 views and

[00:18] what you can do to maximize your

[00:20] earnings. Now, in addition to my own

[00:21] channel, I also work with multiple

[00:23] clients on their YouTube strategies, and

[00:25] I get to see earnings data across a

[00:27] variety of channels in different niches.

[00:29] On top of that, I recently did

[00:31] comprehensive research analyzing current

[00:33] YouTube monetization rates, referred to

[00:35] as RPM, to get you the most up-to-date

[00:37] numbers for this year. And here's what I

[00:39] found. Channels are making anywhere from

[00:41] 30 to $25 per,000 views on long- form

[00:45] content. The average for US-based

[00:47] creators is around $5.64 64 cents per

[00:50] 1,000 views. But from what I see working

[00:52] with creators, most channels typically

[00:54] fall in that $2 to $8 per,000 views

[00:57] range. Now, to maximize your earnings

[00:59] per 1,000 views, niche selection is

[01:01] critical. Certain advertisers pay

[01:03] premium rates to reach their target

[01:05] audience. Here's some examples. Amazon,

[01:07] currently the top advertiser on YouTube,

[01:10] is heavily targeting e-commerce and tech

[01:12] content. Apple consistently spends big

[01:14] on technology videos to promote their

[01:16] ecosystem. So, here are the highest

[01:18] paying niches on YouTube right now.

[01:20] Finance and make money online content,

[01:22] digital marketing, educational content,

[01:25] technology, health, and investing. But

[01:27] keep in mind that niches can change over

[01:29] time. Travel, for instance, used to be

[01:31] consistently high-paying, but has

[01:33] dropped off to mid-tier earnings in

[01:35] recent years. On the flip side, lower

[01:37] paying niches include gaming,

[01:38] entertainment content, celebrity gossip,

[01:41] and general lifestyle videos. But here's

[01:43] the thing. Channels in lower paying

[01:45] niches can sometimes get significantly

[01:47] more views. So there's always that

[01:48] trade-off between RPM and total reach.

[01:52] One key strategy to earn more per 1,000

[01:54] views is to make videos that are longer

[01:56] than 8 minutes because this gives

[01:57] YouTube the ability to place midroll ads

[02:00] on your content. Now, here's some great

[02:01] news. YouTube just rolled out a major

[02:03] update in May of 2025 that makes

[02:05] automated ad placement much smarter.

[02:07] Their system now identifies natural

[02:10] break points in your videos like pauses

[02:12] and scene transitions instead of

[02:14] interrupting you mid-sentence or during

[02:15] action sequences. You can manually place

[02:18] these ads in the YouTube studio. But

[02:20] honestly, letting YouTube choose

[02:21] automatically the placement of these ads

[02:23] works really well for most creators. In

[02:25] fact, their test showed that creators

[02:27] using both automatic and manual

[02:29] placement together saw a 5% increase in

[02:32] revenue compared to manual only. The key

[02:35] thing here is to remember to not

[02:36] artificially inflate your video duration

[02:38] just to get to that 8-minute threshold.

[02:40] Focus on delivering genuine value,

[02:42] whether you're entertaining your viewers

[02:44] or educating them, and let the content

[02:46] itself dictate the length. A well-made

[02:49] 6-inute video will typically perform

[02:51] much better than a 12-minute video that

[02:53] you've intentionally filled with fluff

[02:55] just to get more ad placements. Now, I'm

[02:57] going to let you in on what's really

[02:58] possible when you think beyond just

[03:00] AdSense. Since getting monetized in

[03:03] January, my channel has gotten 315,000

[03:06] views and earned a little over $1,900

[03:08] through AdSense. And this works out to

[03:10] about $610 per 1,000 views, which is

[03:13] pretty average for most creators. But

[03:15] here's the thing. In that same period,

[03:17] I've generated $13,000 in coaching

[03:20] revenue, helping midlife creators grow

[03:22] and monetize on YouTube. And when you

[03:24] factor that in, my effective RPM jumps

[03:26] from $6.10 10 cents to well over $46 per

[03:30] 1,000 views. And that's more than seven

[03:32] times what ads pay by themselves. The

[03:34] key is treating your channel as a

[03:36] complete business system, not just an ad

[03:38] revenue generator, so that YouTube

[03:54] at three examples of different channels

[03:56] in different niches to compare how much

[03:58] money they might be earning per month

[04:00] with the differences in views that

[04:01] they're getting. So the first channel we

[04:03] have is Slater, and this is a gaming

[04:05] channel. Now, I'm going to show you how

[04:06] you can find the number of views that

[04:08] they're having over a 30-day period. You

[04:10] need to click right here where it says

[04:12] view channel stats. And if you don't

[04:13] have that, you can get that button by

[04:15] downloading the Vid IQ browser

[04:17] extension. It is completely free to use

[04:19] and it'll give you this data. Now, as

[04:21] you can see right up here, this channel

[04:23] over the last 30 days has earned

[04:25] 1,162,000

[04:27] views on their channel. So, the way

[04:29] we're going to calculate how much

[04:31] they've potentially earned through ads,

[04:33] we're going to take that total number of

[04:34] views, we're going to divide it by

[04:36] a,000, and then we're going to multiply

[04:37] it by what we think their average RPM

[04:40] is. So, what we'll do is we'll pull up

[04:42] our calculator. I'll just show you the

[04:44] quick calculation here. We'll do the

[04:46] total number of views which is 1162

[04:49] 318.

[04:51] We'll divide that by a,000

[04:55] and this gets us 1162. That's our whole

[04:58] number. Now we need to know what the

[05:00] average RPM is for the gaming niche. So

[05:02] let's just imagine it's $2 to $3, which

[05:04] is pretty standard in the gaming niche.

[05:06] And we'll just split the difference. So

[05:07] we're going to multiply this by $2.50.

[05:11] And this will tell us roughly what this

[05:14] channel might be earning in a given

[05:15] month. So in this example, they're

[05:17] earning around $2,900 for a little over

[05:20] a million views. So keep that number in

[05:23] mind as we look at our next example. Now

[05:25] we're going to come over to Kelvin

[05:27] Learns Investing. So obviously this is a

[05:29] finance and investing channel. We can

[05:31] once again click channel stats and we're

[05:33] going to see that this channel has

[05:34] earned 318,000

[05:36] views in the last 30 days. So we're

[05:38] going to do that exact same math. take

[05:40] the total number of views, divide it by

[05:42] a,000. We're left with 318, and then

[05:44] we're going to multiply that by what we

[05:46] think the average RPM is. Now, in this

[05:48] case, $18 to $22 is pretty fair for

[05:51] investing in personal finance. So, we'll

[05:53] take the difference of 20, and we'll

[05:55] multiply this by $20. So, we get a

[05:57] little over $6,000, actually almost

[05:59] $6,400

[06:01] for this channel over the last 30 days.

[06:04] So what you'll notice is that the number

[06:06] of views is essentially a third of the

[06:08] previous channel but the earnings are

[06:10] more than double and that's a function

[06:12] of the CPM and the RPM for this niche.

[06:15] Now we'll look at one more example. This

[06:18] is in-depth tech reviews. So this is a

[06:21] tech review channel. We're going to

[06:22] click the channel stats. We'll see that

[06:24] this channel has 589,000

[06:26] views over the last month. We'll do that

[06:28] same formula. 589

[06:31] 149

[06:33] divided by a,000. Okay. And we're going

[06:35] to take that 589 and then we're going to

[06:37] multiply that by around $10 because we

[06:40] know for this tech review channel it's

[06:42] usually between $8 and $12.

[06:45] And their earnings per month is around

[06:47] $5,900. So again, about half of the

[06:50] number of views of the gaming channel

[06:52] and almost double the amount of earned

[06:55] uh AdSense revenue. So hopefully this

[06:59] illustrates for you the differences in

[07:00] CPMs and RPMs based on the kind of

[07:02] content that you're making. It's the

[07:04] same 30-day period, the same platform,

[07:07] but the values are dramatically

[07:08] different. And it's all to do with the

[07:10] content and how much advertisers are

[07:12] willing to pay to get in front of your

[07:14] audience. So that's how much YouTube

[07:15] pays you for a,000 views. The biggest

[07:17] thing to remember is that it all comes

[07:19] down to your niche and your RPM. Now, if
