6:36[00:00] - I'm gonna give you
[00:01] a perfect YouTube title that gets clicks.
[00:04] So if you aren't really getting
[00:07] I want you to try these five
[00:09] And then let me know if you see a spike
[00:11] in your click-through
[00:14] I'm even gonna share some
[00:16] that we use here at Think Media
[00:19] And at the very end, I have
[00:22] that most people struggling on YouTube
[00:24] aren't doing, that they
[00:27] All that's coming up so let's get into it.
[00:29] - [Voiceover] You've
[00:30] - Hey guys my name is Nolan
[00:32] Now, recently we had an all-team meeting
[00:34] and Sean was giving us a training
[00:36] on how to write better
[00:39] And during this, I took some notes,
[00:41] and I realized you guys
[00:43] because a lot of this is just really good,
[00:45] practical advice that I think
[00:47] most people aren't really doing.
[00:49] Now, the first tip that
[00:51] avoid insider language.
[00:53] Now, I want you to think
[00:54] that you might say when talking
[00:57] that would just fly
[00:59] So if I'm making a video about cameras
[01:01] and maybe I'm talking
[01:03] "Hey, do you want to get
[01:06] You might not know what that means
[01:07] if you don't know anything about cameras.
[01:08] But if I say, "Hey, do you wanna get
[01:10] that blurry background,
[01:12] and everything behind you
[01:15] That is beginner language,
[01:16] and is really easy to
[01:19] And this is very important for your titles
[01:20] because you want the person
[01:23] your title and what it is that
[01:25] Now, when Sean was
[01:27] there's two things I wrote down
[01:28] that I gotta share with you.
[01:29] One, he said, "If you confuse, you lose."
[01:32] And then he also said, "You wanna shoot
[01:33] for a fifth-grade reading level."
[01:35] So be thinking, how can
[01:37] Make it easier to read
[01:40] Tip number two, shorter is better.
[01:43] Now hold up though,
[01:45] is a disclaimer on this.
[01:47] Sean was saying it really doesn't matter
[01:49] if your title is long.
[01:50] You know, according to the algorithm,
[01:52] you still can do well with a long title.
[01:54] But the words that are
[01:57] First of all, people's attention
[01:59] So if you have a video that maybe says,
[02:01] "Vlog 97 - What I Eat In a Day,"
[02:05] you might want to flip this around
[02:06] because you want people to read,
[02:07] "What I Eat In a Day" first.
[02:08] They might be interested in
[02:12] they're not interested in that.
[02:13] They don't really care unless
[02:16] that's following along with your vlogs.
[02:17] But "What I Eat In a Day" is
[02:20] You also need to be aware that long titles
[02:22] are going to get cut
[02:24] whether you're on mobile or desktop,
[02:26] if your title's too long,
[02:29] So when you click on the video,
[02:31] but when you're just
[02:33] sometimes you can't see the
[02:37] And this is why those words
[02:40] Tip number three is to understand
[02:43] Now within this tip, there's really
[02:44] two things to understand here.
[02:46] And the first one is to not click-bait.
[02:48] You want someone to click on your video,
[02:49] knowing what they're going to get,
[02:51] not click on their video and trick them
[02:53] into getting into the video,
[02:54] and then not giving them what they wanted.
[02:56] Because ultimately if you do that,
[02:57] and people are clicking on your title
[02:59] thinking it's one thing, but
[03:01] they're just gonna click right off,
[03:03] and it is going to kill
[03:05] which is really bad for
[03:07] So we want to avoid that.
[03:09] Now the second meaning to this tip
[03:11] is the chocolate-covered carrot.
[03:13] Now, my friend Alejandro Reyes,
[03:15] was actually talking about
[03:18] method at our Grow With video live event.
[03:20] And I'll make sure to leave
[03:21] if you want to check out our yearly event
[03:23] where you can hang out with
[03:25] and how to grow on YouTube and make money.
[03:28] But back to the chocolate-covered carrot
[03:29] is realizing what the viewers' intent is
[03:31] and what they actually want.
[03:33] For example, let's take
[03:34] of this very YouTube video.
[03:37] Ultimately, the video is about
[03:38] how to create a perfect YouTube title.
[03:40] But people don't really wanna know
[03:41] how to make the perfect title.
[03:42] What they really want is views,
[03:43] they want clicks on their video.
[03:46] Now getting views would be that chocolate,
[03:48] it's what they want, it's the good stuff.
[03:50] Now on the insight is the vegetables,
[03:52] the stuff that's actually good for you,
[03:54] which is creating a good title,
[03:56] because that is what's
[03:59] So you want to think about
[04:01] and what they need, and you
[04:03] not click-bait them, but
[04:06] And I know that this is going
[04:08] that if you follow all of
[04:11] it is going to help your titles,
[04:12] and it's gonna help you get more views.
[04:14] Number four is practical tools.
[04:16] You want to use real data
[04:18] to come up with good titles.
[04:20] One thing I love to do
[04:22] that are already out on YouTube.
[04:24] So I'll search on YouTube and
[04:26] that might have a similar title
[04:28] to what the video is that
[04:30] Now specifically, I'm
[04:33] to the subscriber count.
[04:34] I'm looking for videos
[04:36] but the channel doesn't
[04:39] Now, if you're wondering how
[04:41] right here in the search without
[04:44] it's with a software called Vid IQ.
[04:46] And you can actually go to
[04:47] gonna iq.com/thank to
[04:50] or you can just use the free
[04:52] and look at their subscriber count.
[04:54] And we'll have a link for you
[04:56] Now, the reason I like to look at the
[04:57] subscriber versus view
[04:59] a bunch of views, but there's
[05:02] this means that this video is doing well
[05:04] in the YouTube algorithm,
[05:06] that YouTube is actually
[05:08] So that's a really good indicator to me
[05:09] that they're using a good title.
[05:11] Now, to be clear, I draw
[05:14] I look at the keywords
[05:16] maybe the way they've worded their title.
[05:18] And then I use that to craft
[05:21] Another really cool gonna IQ feature
[05:23] that I use to come up with good titles
[05:25] is actually when I'm uploading the video.
[05:27] Once I add in my tags, if
[05:30] it's gonna give me some recommendations
[05:31] for adding in keywords to my title.
[05:34] This is a really cool tool
[05:36] by adding in some of those
[05:39] is gonna help you rank
[05:42] Another really cool tool that we use
[05:43] is called Headline Analyzer.
[05:45] This is at coschedule.com,
[05:46] and we'll have another
[05:48] if you wanna check it out.
[05:49] And I just use the free
[05:51] all you gotta do is put in your title,
[05:52] and it's gonna give you a report back
[05:54] with a lot of really cool information
[05:56] and some really cool tips.
[05:57] And it'll even give your title a score,
[05:59] and tips on how to improve that
[06:02] Which brings me to tip number five,
[06:04] make sure you stay
[06:06] but tip number five is
[06:08] It's always a good idea to
[06:11] and not just have one that you go after,
[06:13] but actually have a few in your lineup.
[06:15] And when you write these multiple titles,
[06:17] it's great to get other
[06:19] and to see what other people think
[06:21] and which one they would click on.
[06:22] Especially if they're a beginner
[06:25] and they look at your titles,
[06:26] they're gonna give you
[06:27] They might be like, "Oh, that
[06:30] I don't know what that means."
[06:31] And this can help you rework your title,
[06:33] to go through these five steps,
[06:34] and make sure that you have
[06:36] Now here's the bonus tip
[06:38] that a lot of people are
[06:40] Most people shoot their videos,
[06:42] do the thumbnail, and
[06:44] But we actually want to
[06:46] We actually recommend that
[06:49] before shooting your video.
[06:50] And then with that great idea and title,
[06:52] you can write your content
[06:56] Now, if you wanna learn how
[06:58] then you can click on
[07:00] and I'll see you guys in the next video.
