Retired at 61, Now Managing $1M
45sThe inspiring story of a retiree who started trading late and achieved remarkable success challenges age stereotypes and sparks curiosity.
▶ Play Clip"The title accurately reflects the content: a retired trader sharing his journey to earning €6,000+ monthly via algorithmic trading."
Jorge Camilo, a retired bank employee from Uruguay, shares his journey into algorithmic trading after retirement. Starting with manual trading and facing emotional challenges, he transitioned to algorithmic systems, eventually managing $1 million in the Axi Select funding program. His story highlights the importance of risk management, patience, and finding a trading style that fits one's lifestyle and mindset.
Jorge retired at 61 from Banco Hipotecario del Uruguay after 41 years. He was always interested in learning new things, which led him to take a basic intraday course in Montevideo in mid-2023.
Started trading in demo mode in mid-2023. Realized he lacked chart reading skills and began filtering YouTube channels to find valuable content, avoiding 'snake oil'.
Opened accounts on Darwinex and Axi Select. Manual trading led to emotional losses, with occasional losing days. He burned through his first $500 Axi account, leaving only $20.
Inspired by Aritz's proposal from IMOX Trading, Jorge took a course in September 2024 and generated his first bots in November 2024. He installed them on Axi and started trading algorithmically.
In January 2025, he earned his first $200 in trading. He passed stages naturally and fluidly, gaining confidence. By February 2025, he moved to the 'Promillón' stage.
Jorge made a mistake by installing a bot with higher risk on the DAX, leading to a 4% loss and a score drop from 92 to 70. He entered quarantine, which requires a score of at least 90 to exit.
He recovered the 10% drawdown in a week by trading calmly. He focused on raising his score from 70 to 84 by letting profits run and cutting losses quickly, using manual adjustments to aid the systems.
Since January 2025, Jorge has been withdrawing profits monthly, with the highest being around $9,000 from Pro 500. He reinvested profits to grow his capital and fund subsequent stages.
He spends mornings trading and analyzing, with most time spent building and testing systems. He currently has about 90 EAs in demo and live, and is experimenting with different timeframes (1-hour, 4-hour, 15-minute).
Jorge focuses on indices like DAX, NASDAQ, S&P 500, and gold. He uses trend-following breakout strategies, with variations. He is starting to use AI to select strategies for specific assets.
He advises starting algorithmic trading earlier, being patient, and finding a trading style that matches one's personality. He emphasizes learning, practice, and not rushing under pressure.
Jorge's story demonstrates that algorithmic trading can be a viable path even after retirement, offering consistent profits and a manageable lifestyle. His experience underscores the importance of risk management, learning from mistakes, and finding a supportive community.

30:47Advice: Start Algorithmic Earlier
Provides actionable advice for beginners to avoid common pitfalls.
43:03[00:02] intrigued me, had very general concepts. I realized that there is a wide variety of topics that one needs to start learning about in this profession. That's where I started to get to know Darwin Exero and Axi Select. I was doing quite well. I
[00:17] beat you almost every day. At this stage of life, one has to see this was my path on the algorithmic side. At first, you enter with many doubts, but seeing that the systems responded, that the operation was going
[00:31] well, that from then on I was winning every month, in the first days of February, I switched to Promillón, which I am in quarantine for. I made a mistake and put in a pot that risked much more. Unfortunately, I realized
[00:45] hours later that it had been activated and I had a significant loss of about 4%; my score dropped from 92 to 70. What happened to me is exactly what a trader should not do. I wasn't
[00:57] thinking about the million because it's difficult, but as the stages went by I really felt that it was possible. Why not? Hello, traders. These days it seems that if you do n't start trading from the age of 20,
[01:11] for 14 hours a day, and learn impossible technical concepts, you're too story of today's guest, because the trader we're going to talk to today started trading right when most people think it's no longer
[01:25] possible to do anything in life, which is at the time of retirement. But luckily the trader we're going to talk to today after retiring you have to step away from the system, but the
[01:38] not only stayed put, but has also managed to manage a million years, as he will explain in the talk, he has been trading, taking manually, going through the same
[01:51] point. Letting ourselves be carried away by emotions, doubts, mistakes about trading, until he made a decision that changed his course in trading and that was to start then, as you can see here on screen, thanks to his trading robots he has
[02:06] managed to manage one million dollars in the Axi Select funding program, from which he is taking 80% of what he generates with that million. And all he had to do $500 account with them through their broker, with no time limit, as you can
[02:18] see here on screen, going through each of their phases, generating more and more profitability, managing more and more money until reaching a million. All that with just one rule, there's no time, no weird stuff, just one and that is
[02:31] never exceed a 7% drawdown. And believe me, that can only be achieved if you're a chat with Jorge, an algorithmic trader, so that he can explain to us what it's like to retired, once most people think you shouldn't be doing anything in the
[02:44] world anymore, and so that he can tell us what his techniques, his secrets, and his formula are million dollars. Something I'm convinced most of you here would started, what strategies he uses, how he creates those robots, what
[02:58] algorithmic trading, and above all, how he manages risk in each of his trades, let's talk to Jorge and see what he has to say. And by the way, trader, if you want to manage a million dollars, taking 80% of the profit, remember
[03:12] that below in the description of this video you have all the information Access Select. You'll see that the process is very quick, it only takes 5 minutes and by automatically participate in their free funding program of up to
[03:25] $000. Think of it as free because you deposit the money and your broker's account. There is no payment for it. So take a look at it. Hi Jorge, how are you? How are you? Hi how are things? It's a pleasure to be
[03:38] Hi how are things? It's a pleasure to be here with you. Uh, I've really learned a lot from your channel and well, I never [clears throat] expected to be interviewed by you. No, no, the other way around. For me, it's an honor to
[03:51] have you here. As I was saying, I saw an interview you did with Ait on his IMOX channel, and you're there at his school. When I was watching what you were particular, because of several conditions that I explained a
[04:05] little earlier in the introduction, which you didn't see. But I was talking a bit about how in a slightly different way than most people, that you start when earlier, and I found that very
[04:17] a little bit now, but also, you've achieved incredible results in a short time , you're getting to manage that million in Select. Holy [ __ ], that's a case, a case worthy of study, isn't it? So, for me it's a pleasure because I'm sure I'll
[04:31] can all learn a lot from you, so I sincerely thank you for accepting, right? Please, it's my pleasure and whatever I right? Please, it's my pleasure and whatever I can contribute to fellow
[04:43] can contribute to fellow traders, well, this is certainly good. Well, for my part, well, I retired at 61, now I'm 65
[04:55] and well, the idea of retirement, of course, is to enjoy it, but also, I'm also a photographer, I recently retired too. That's what you always did, you were
[05:08] dedicated to that, no, it wasn't like a side activity. I used to work in a bank, but not in the financial area, in another but not in the financial area, in another area. And well, 41 years there at Banco
[05:24] Hipotecario del Uruguay. And well, I retired and I mean, I always And well, I retired and I mean, I always liked learning new things and I understood that this was something, trading, something that always intrigued me.
[05:38] something that always intrigued me. I had very general, very superficial concepts of the subject. So I opted to take a basic course here locally in Montevideo, this, in person,
[05:52] this, in person, uh, an intraday course uh that starts from scratch and well, uh, then Forex futures market Forex futures market and with the basics uh,
[06:06] I learned how to trade, install a platform, well, everything necessary, some strategies, some things, but no. And well, I started trading this basically in demo mode. This was back around mid-2023,
[06:23] okay? Recent. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Very close. In mid- 2023 I started trading in demo mode and, well, I realized I was
[06:35] lacking a lot, you know? My chart reading was way off My chart reading was way off YouTube channels, and I started filtering them too, realizing there was a lot of
[06:50] snake oil. [laughs] So I said, channels that would bring me value, that there are, I realized that there is a great variety of topics that you have to start learning about in this profession. And
[07:06] well, among others I started watching your channel, Joaquín Vega's channel, channel, Joaquín Vega's channel, where I extracted, or what I
[07:18] interpreted from his ways of operating with Fibonacci, well, all that theme, I started applying it in the way I understood it,
[07:32] applying it in the way I understood it, and also Aritz's channel, and also Aritz's channel, and well, that's where I started to learn about Darwin Exero and Axi Select. Well, after a few months of
[07:49] demo trading, as I was saying, and seeing all this, learning a lot, absorbing a lot, many hours of learning, well, I opened accounts on Darwin Exero, it was going quite
[08:04] well for me overall, I was winning almost every day, but there was always the emotional part, there was a day or two every month or two when, well, what happens, right? You lose, and
[08:19] well, because everything is all manual, right? Everything manual, of course, everything manual. Everything is manual. But hey, I was learning, I took it as a learning experience. And then I also
[08:33] opened this Axi CELIC, I think it's a very interesting program very interesting program and well, I deposited the first $500 and, of course , as expected, in a
[08:48] , as expected, in a small account it's more difficult to Uh, I realized that you have to operate differently, that in another type like Darwinex and well, I practically burned through it, I was left with 20
[09:05] practically burned through it, I was left with 20 and well, uh, my idea at this point in life one has to see things differently too, right? It's not the same when you're young, 30 or 40 years old, as at
[09:18] young, 30 or 40 years old, as at this point in your life. You can't really say, "Well, I realize that manual trading can be good, interesting to master, but it has a learning curve that seems to me to be quite a bit longer."
[09:33] Yes, yes, absolutely. To obtain results. Well, it wasn't my idea to be dedicating so much time either, and I was very interested in Arit's proposal from IMOX Striging,
[09:47] Striging, and I followed it until he convinced me that this was my path on the algorithmic side. my path on the algorithmic side. And then in September 2024 I took the
[10:03] course and around November I generated and around November I generated my first bots, my first bots, which, well, the normal thing would be to put them
[10:18] functionality. I chose the ones that seemed most effective to me and installed them on Naxi around November 2024, and I started again, I
[10:35] revived that account that I had neglected since I was 20 or 30. Well, I started with 500 and, and, well, I did very, very well with the
[10:49] well, I did very, very well with the trading. The market trading. The market also helped me, it was bullish, and I passed the also helped me, it was bullish, and I passed the stages, and at the end of January 2025 I
[11:01] earned my first 200 in trading. For me it was, uh, I said, although I had confidence in the system, in the systems, but until I
[11:13] the system, in the systems, but until I realized, big emotional boost too, because you start to gain confidence
[11:26] and it was a very natural, very fluid process at each stage. Uh, I wasn't really thinking about the million, was I?
[11:40] lot of doubts, but seeing that the systems responded, that the operation was going well, that from then on I was winning every month, I said,
[11:52] well, this is getting interesting, this is interesting. Uh, uh, I went through the stages, well, when I got to the pro stage, uh, pro 200 I think it is, oh yeah,
[12:08] well, I said, this is very serious now. Sure, that's quite a leap, isn't it? It's a leap. Yes, yes, yes, yes. This, until, well, this year at the end of January, beginning, the first days of February, that's when I went to
[12:22] Promillónm. That's a very long year, is n't it? More or less time since the end of 2014. A year since the first time I got paid, that is, three months had passed since I went through the
[12:36] evaluation stage, seeds of that, I practically covered the stages in the period more or less the was a month longer and
[12:50] yes. Yes, yes. And did you know anything about algorithmic trading before? In other words, it was your first time starting from scratch. No, no, not from zero. From scratch. Uh, really this whole
[13:06] Uh, really this whole methodology of Inmox Trading from scratch is really interesting, it's very practical, it takes you step by step through all the stages. Well, we build the robots
[13:24] stages. Well, we build the robots using Strategy One. And, well, that goes through several And, well, that goes through several filtering stages, a way of analyzing and
[13:38] filtering, and then testing it in the real market or in a demo environment to see how it works. Uh, and well, then move on to the Uh, and well, then move on to the real thing, right? Uh, I'm totally
[13:52] ignorant about this topic. Well, I learned a lot from him and, well, I applied all that methodology. Well, it really does have its complexities
[14:05] and takes some time to analyze. Um, I have to go over things every time I'm going to build something new, go over ideas because it has a lot of details, right? Well, there are people who think that by buying the software they're done , everything
[14:19] , everything is extremely complex. There are many is extremely complex. There are many variations within the configuration variations within the configuration for building something. So, this one
[14:31] costs, right? It's still difficult for me to this day, but I'm managing okay. you started with the systems you chose, have they changed or have they always been the same? Yes, they've changed. Well, because,
[14:47] as I told you at the beginning, I put the first constructions that weren't first constructions that weren't tested, and some worked well, others didn't. Uh, and well, uh, I was
[15:00] changing some, rotating them. Well, as I had more time to test another batch I had, I was to test another batch I had, I was , well, seeing which ones were
[15:13] better, changing them, well, loading them, taking some out, putting others in, as I saw which ones worked better, right? Well, time is
[15:25] important for testing, to see how I put together an Excel spreadsheet where I can see the profits month by month of each system and that's where I evaluate, okay? Uh, even to transfer to other brokers,
[15:40] right? In Darwins, well, in some prop, this, but yes, this is interesting the this, but yes, this is interesting the whole analysis stage. Clear. That
[15:54] takes you a little while. Yes. But then it's a matter of seeing how they work, observing their operating methods, and how you build them. That is, for example, in Axis Select, right? Do you have the parameters they ask for and you
[16:09] build based on those parameters, or how do you approach that? Some, some yes, I build some with very low risk, especially for some indices like the DAX, which are more complicated,
[16:24] like the DAX, which are more complicated, but in general I build a base with a risk of $200, like for Darwinex, and then I adapt them for the other systems. Most of
[16:39] the systems I build are designed for a one-hour time frame. Now I'm one-hour time frame. Now I'm switching to the 4-hour ones because I switching to the 4-hour ones because I think they're more effective. Well
[16:54] , we have a community there at IMOX Trading, some amazing people you've already interviewed. We're a
[17:07] club of about 20 people who share about 20 people who share information and encouragement, and that helps us
[17:21] and that helps us build stronger, more solid systems. Mm, that's great, man, that's great. And earlier, off-camera, current situation, because I find it very interesting, don't you? The fact that in a
[17:34] year or so you achieve spectacular results, all automation, algorithmic trading, and you mentioned that you're currently in a somewhat complex situation, perhaps mentally, right? Um, I'd
[17:47] like to delve a little deeper with her, if you'd like, uh, you can share on your Axi platform what stage you're at so that people understand.
[18:00] Well, uh yes, [clears throat] things happened there that one doesn't you can put it on the table, you can explain what we are seeing. explain what we are seeing. Well, this is the Axi dashboard,
[18:14] where it's clearly shown, right?, that striking red sign [laughs] . That's quite telling, isn't it? I am currently in quarantine. It turns out that [clears throat] last month I
[18:29] It turns out that [clears throat] last month I was making 0.6 or 0.7 percent profit, and well, after [clears throat] spending a couple of hours analyzing systems and all that, and well,
[18:41] hours analyzing systems and all that, and well, controlling everything I have there, I controlling everything I have there, I thought about changing a DAX bot, this one for one that risks much less because lowering the risk, because we
[18:54] were already past the middle of the month and we were doing well. Since the market was so complicated last month and this month, well, then I thought about changing it for one and because of the fatigue, I don't know what I did
[19:10] wrong and I put in a bot that risked much more and well, unfortunately I realized later, a few hours after it was later, a few hours after it was activated, that it was losing money and
[19:27] activated, that it was losing money and well, I hesitated a bit, should I close it, shouldn't I close it. well, I hesitated a bit, should I close it, shouldn't I close it. And well, it was time for Delx to close, and when it reopened it made a significant gap. Well,
[19:41] news just came out about caused a drop in prices across all the indices, and this one had a
[19:53] the indices, and this one had a big loss there, about 4%. big loss there, about 4%. First time after 15 months of meticulous risk management where I was never in drawdown. Well, the truth is, the
[20:07] only time I ever broke even was in April of last year when the news about Trump and the tariffs and all that came out, but
[20:19] the tariffs and all that came out, but after that I was always in profit and well, it seems that it clouded my judgment a bit, it was a really bad experience. A few days there hit me hard, it
[20:34] months of following impeccable risk management, for that [clears throat] affects you. And well, I had surgery because I felt like I had to
[20:53] Sure, you can explain what the quarantine is about so people understand . Well, when you lose, you reach a 10% drawdown, you go into quarantine. You can continue
[21:07] trading with your own capital, but the allocation account is suspended until you achieve, first, the score, achieve, first, the score, which went from 92 to 70. I have to
[21:21] have at least 90, and also the minimum capital. Well, I and also the minimum capital. Well, I rebuilt the rebuilt the minimum capital
[21:36] in a few days because, after all this happened, I cooled down all this happened, I cooled down , analyzed everything, and said, let's trade calmly, let's get back to normal,
[21:50] to balance, right? And to balance, yes, and to operate well. And And to balance, yes, and to operate well. And well, I recovered that 10% in a week or 10 In a week, that's great.
[22:03] Yes, yes. I recovered that at the end of last month . That 10% left me at break-even, more or less, with what I had of my own capital. And well, from there
[22:17] I focused on raising the score, the score I started at 70 mm, I have to reach 90 and from there
[22:31] I started because I didn't really know how to operate specifically to raise the score.
[22:43] Clear. So I started researching it here on YouTube, some videos on your channel, there was a colleague who works at Promillón who explained it a bit, and
[22:55] in some other videos I was watching, well, what I interpreted is to let well, what I interpreted is to let right? In positive terms, and well, and to
[23:08] cut the losses quickly, try to cut them, uh, and well, yes, I'm on the right track uh, and well, yes, I'm on the right track because I'm already at 84 in score and it has gone up from 70 to 84, in how much time? And we're in a little over 20
[23:27] Yes, yes. And how did you do it? But did you use strategies? I mean, did you positive ratios and allow profits to run, or how did you adjust that?
[23:41] how did you adjust that? Well, uh no, that was actually uh like me, but uh uh what I normally did from the
[23:53] normally did from the beginning, since this is in stages, it's beginning, since this is in stages, it's short term, uh I observed that sometimes there were short term, uh I observed that sometimes there were many operations that, being
[24:07] positive, in profit, rather , but sometimes they turned around before the take profit, take profit, uh I started to close some
[24:21] operations, to touch a little uh a lot of confidence in the systems, but to get uh the best functioning of those
[24:33] systems with a little help of my own from the manual. Yes. Uh, I know some people don't do this, but I understand that Naxi, uh, I think it's important; this worked for me at least, right?
[24:47] Evaluating the movement of the candles, the price, how the trading is going. the price, how the trading is going. So what I would do sometimes was not let it run so much. While my
[25:07] normal trading, now I've focused specifically on increasing my focused specifically on increasing my score and it's actually been going up faster, right? This one, at four or five
[25:21] four or five points, this one, two in the week, this week it went up three points at least, so, uh, and that's not because the market hasn't helped me these weeks, it's
[25:35] complex, right? Yes, yes, totally, totally, complex, complex, but yes, this system is proving effective. That's great, that's great. Clear. And you can manage your capital in the meantime, right? So, you just keep trading your capital
[25:49] Very good. I am managing my capital. [laughs] Yes, yes. , let's say the Axi funding part is paralyzed, uh, until is, until you demonstrate that you are back in balance, and
[26:03] Now I need to reach 90, and then, upon entering quarantine, I move to Pro 500, and well, there I have to achieve 7% to move back to Pro 500 . Okay, okay, but
[26:19] good, good. Well, I have complete confidence in the systems and all that. What confidence in the systems and all that. What happened to me is exactly what a trader shouldn't do, happened to me is exactly what a trader shouldn't do,
[26:32] trust, systems that work well, and well, then, uh, Pro 500 and it goes from 7% to millions, it's just a matter of time. Yes, yes, that's all. Completely. And when you manage the drawdown issue, for
[26:47] example, it's currently at 7% for people who use AX Select, when you consider 10%, 7%, do you do that in your systems portfolio? As? In other systems that never go beyond that level, or how do you do it?
[27:00] how do you do it? Clear. No, no, never, because I Clear. No, no, never, because I normally have eight systems installed there that take very little risk. This was
[27:15] a very particular situation where many things were mixed up, but never, well, I never had in DRODAM to begin with, this would never reach a figure like this in
[27:28] this would never reach a figure like this in normal operating conditions. They're very well normal operating conditions. They're very well controlled, and even when they're losing money, I usually cut myself off beforehand,
[27:41] so they're very well controlled, it's difficult for them to drop more than 1 or 2%. But they're not well set up because they take little risk,
[27:54] and so the only possibility of reaching these situations in this case is through human error. No, yes, yes, yes. Due to [laughs] nothing more. It's complex, it's complex. Well,
[28:10] It's complex, it's complex. Well, self-criticism has to be there, and well, but we have to take the positive from this, right? Because it's a lesson that you have to learn, situations that you have to go through. It's good to pass it on because they
[28:23] won't happen again, I assure you. [laughs] Well, the lesson was learned. Well, the other thing, the mistake of the error in changing the system. Well, these are mistakes that, well, that can happen, but they were really fixable,
[28:37] but not in all this. This was purely and exclusively my responsibility, wasn't it? Mistake. That's what we do a little bit off- short period of time and that
[28:52] also in some way put you in a situation of success and you were right? To feel like saying, well, these things happen too, they're natural, they're accumulate and gradually happen less, right? I understand that it's
[29:05] Yes, yes. It's part of the process, part of what we have to see, well, I have, I have, with luck, 3 years as a
[29:19] trader, actually a year and a half as a truly professional trader, because the previous time was mostly in demo mode, therefore I
[29:32] continue to learn a lot and gain experience. Well, this is part of the learning process, and it's good that we have to go through it. I would have liked to go through it at an earlier [laughs] . Yes, yes, yes.
[29:46] . Yes, yes, yes. But hey, this is what we got, and well, But hey, this is what we got, and well, we're going up and with total confidence in the systems. Uh, I think, don't you?, that if this had happened to me as a
[29:58] manual trader, wow, it would have been tough. Yes, this is much harder. Yes, yes, yes. Yes, this is much harder. Yes, yes, yes. 100%. It would have been very hard mentally. On the contrary, isn't it? After the storm, I'm
[30:16] and I'm absolutely certain that I'll be back in the race, without a doubt. That's people will also be wondering why, when we talk about Xelect, about the issue of income, about how you have gone through several stages, through several
[30:32] phases, until reaching a million. In those phases you have earned money, you have managed to withdraw, you have managed to generate income. Yes, yes, as I mentioned before, in January Yes, yes, as I mentioned before, in January 2025 I won for the first time
[30:47] 2025 I won for the first time in trading, my first profit. I have to thank Axi for that, and well, it was a big boost, wasn't it? Well, from then on I won every month, except as I was saying in April when I
[31:02] broke even, but then, since there was a change of stage, I also got paid twice. This means that, on average, I always got paid every month. Uh, could you show it? You could do that so
[31:17] people can see it. Yes, some from the year 2025. Uh, this is it .
[31:29] Okay, that's a lot of payments. Very good. Here is the one from January 205th. It doesn't look very good because February. This, [snort] March,
[31:41] April. April. These are the 2nd of April. There's a jump there, isn't there? Sure, that leap, how did you experience going from 200 to suddenly having a salary or 200 to suddenly having a salary or something like 3000? So, how did you experience that?
[31:54] something like 3000? So, how did you experience that? Well, things are Clear. Um, as I was saying, I wasn't thinking about a million anymore because, well, it's difficult, but as
[32:09] the stages went by, I really not? It's possible. That's roughly what phase it was in. Uh,
[32:22] be 200,000 or something like that, right? And here I probably switched to
[32:38] okay. These were the previews. This one, here, These were the previews. This one, here, since there was a stage pass, yes, uh, Very good. This way,
[32:58] and this November, yes, here to Pro, and well, then Pro 500. How great, how great. And this year, uh, how long have you been here? Did you ever get paid any of the million or was it all from the Pro 500?
[33:11] Uh, then in January here, it's here until December. here, it's here until December. Then in January, yes, I got paid; the highest I got was from Pro 500. Uh, I reached, yes, around 9000,
[33:27] Uh, I reached, yes, around 9000, 8700 and then 500 because of the 8700 and then 500 because of the beginning of February when I went to Promillón,
[33:40] well, that's when this whole conflict of the war started, well, the operation became more complicated of the war started, well, the operation became more complicated
[33:52] then very little , two. Yes, yes, very good. total is large. The overall result is very good. very good. The interesting thing was that, of course, as the
[34:04] year goes on, you have to have to build up capital, right? I think I deposited the build up capital, right? I think I deposited the first month, it's 500, and I completed for
[34:16] the next stage, I think 300, 400, but then it just happened, I integrated the capitalization with the profits themselves,
[34:28] there to jump from phase to phase, right? jump from phase to phase, right? Yes, yes, yes. In the previous stage, well, that big Pro 500 payment actually helped me to reach
[34:41] 20,000. Well, I actually left 21 because you always have to have some leeway, right? Uh, margin there and I integrated everything with the profits. That's great, that's great, that's great, Jorge. That's
[34:54] also important, that one can. Yes, although during the year those conditions changed, that it doubled, uh, but well, as long as it's one's own capital, that
[35:08] as long as it's one's own capital, that one is taking it from one's own absolutely. Of course, if you wanted to, you could, for example, withdraw that money with it, right? Sure, sure.
[35:20] Yes, yes, yes, of course. I actually went and withdrew several times, a few times, because I would leave some of it and withdraw the rest, I would withdraw the rest, I would put some of it in my own account
[35:34] that was good. And well, operating in parallel on an Axis account, but with only our own capital . That's great, that's great. Hey, and because I find it very interesting how you
[35:47] came to it, I mean, the moment you retired, was trading something you sought out because it excited you mentally, because you wanted to So, how did you suddenly make that decision to start trading?
[36:02] to start trading? Well, one just because, this concern of mine to know, to learn something new, but also to say, well, there could be a supplementary income, right? It could be,
[36:17] could be, and this could be something that doesn't take up too much of my time either, right? Exact. Well, at this point, as I was saying before, one thing is up to this stage of life, like seeing this is different
[36:33] when one is younger, right? So, my idea is to be able to enjoy trading, Correct, correct. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Especially now, right? Sure, sure. Especially now, right? Sure, sure. No, I'm really not in the mood to get upset
[36:49] No, I'm really not in the mood to get upset about this, am I? I noticed that with manual and discretionary trading, Yes, yes. Be careful with this. Well, you saw it, didn't you?
[37:04] Last month I had a [laughs] , this is part of the game, but, well, this carries its
[37:17] responsibility, especially when one starts operating with such large amounts of capital, Well, but with the certainty that by doing things right, things turn out
[37:29] Correct. Correct. Because you dedicate many hours a day to it, more or less on average, how many hours? Uh, generally in the morning, because it coincides with my time zone, in the morning, because it coincides with my time zone, well, because of Uruguay's time zone,
[37:42] it coincides with my time zone, well, the morning is ideal for trading. I get up, have a coffee, look at the markets, and do some analysis. Well, what takes the most time is building systems, right?
[37:57] Um, for example, this last month I've been analyzing everything I had, discarding systems that no longer worked well and
[38:12] filtering. At this moment I must have about 90 EAS, 90 uh 90, yes I must have about 90 more or less that are in demo and in real so working and some others
[38:29] that I haven't been able to test yet. Mm. Uh, that's what takes the most time, all Claro analysis. Systems. And now I'm building something too, I'm also evaluating
[38:44] I'm also evaluating changing the timings by 15 minutes. Uh, I'm testing, I did another 30 minutes, as I was saying, I was concentrating,
[38:58] time frame of one hour. Mm. and others in 4 hours which I think are but well, I'm testing. Yes, yes. Do you think you could do this
[39:10] if you were still working your usual working hours? usual working hours? Well, my schedule at my previous job wasn't that long, but it certainly would have
[39:25] taken me quite a bit longer to do this. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Because, this. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Because, especially in the first two especially in the first two years, as I was saying, I consumed a lot of
[39:40] online content to to learn concepts, especially the learn concepts, especially the topics of risk management, like, how to
[39:53] see, because trading, as I always say, is not like chess. Well, you learn to move the basics, Correct, there's a lot more behind it that you
[40:07] time, and the more time you dedicate to it, the more you can progress. So, working with a job like that takes
[40:19] more time, no doubt. That's why maybe in my case I was able to skip steps, right? Already. Absolutely, absolutely. Yes, yes. And I
[40:31] interesting, which is the topic of assets, because you haven't mentioned them DAX, for example, are they always the same assets or how do you make the selection? assets or how do you make the selection? Well, I'm more inclined towards
[40:46] okay? This, NASDAQ is P500, DAX, uh, gold, of course. Yes, I work with gold and dollar currencies. I've kind of neglected foreign exchange
[40:58] , haven't I? At first I did something, but no. Uh, I'm going to have to start building some for the classic eurodollar or something like some for the classic eurodollar or something like that. Yes, but I haven't
[41:12] that. Yes, but I haven't really operated with her. Uh, a little bit of really operated with her. Uh, a little bit of Bitcoin, a little bit there, but yes, I usually deal with these assets. That's
[41:25] great, that's great. And in terms of strategies, uh, do particular type of strategy, for example, let's say breakouts or something like that ? Or is it the program that guides you more or less in a certain direction? Yes,
[41:38] more or less in a certain direction? Yes, trending breakouts. This, but strategist in the construction is doing, making many variations and one comes up with
[41:54] making many variations and one comes up with varied, there's a little bit of everything there. Mm. So, they leave, I So, they leave, I analyze them, I observe them. Hey, there's
[42:09] Juan at Strategy. I don't know if you know it, this is the Wilding Blocks part that I put on somewhat randomly. Uh, now I'm starting to use artificial intelligence to select
[42:25] specifically for the asset I'm building. I'm testing that. This, I think, is more interesting; it's more focused on what one wants to
[42:37] do and, well, try it out. Uh, I haven't tried much of that yet, Very interesting. Brutal, brutal. That's great, that's great, Jorge, really. Hey, and to finish up I wanted to ask you, you've already given a lot of advice throughout
[42:51] the video, but is there any way you think you could summarize what you would have done two or three years ago when you started to get there fast, so it's not a trick question because I
[43:03] complicated. Yes, but if you had to say something to try to be even more efficient or do better things, any advice think you could give to the community, to the people who aren't listening so that
[43:15] they don't make the same mistake. What would you say? In my case personally, I would have liked to start algorithmically earlier, wouldn't you say? Definitely. What's more, I was about to, I even wrote to Aris back in March 2024,
[43:34] but of course, I was still very green, I was still looking, evaluating another course, more money, I said, why not see. And I hesitated there, um, I should have
[43:46] started there, uh, but well, I started in November well, I started in November and then, uh, yes, no, not having patience, what are we going to do? Learn, practice, be patient, and find the
[44:01] path that best suits each person's reality and mindset person's reality and mindset . Uh, what way of trading? Some people scalp, others day trade, others are
[44:16] scalp, others day trade, others are algorithmic swing traders, and you have to algorithmic swing traders, and you have to find out what you like best, what suits your personality best. Well, those things are discovered over
[44:29] time, through learning and practice, and you shouldn't do it under too much pressure, because otherwise... but patience, patience and
[44:41] great, Jorge, really. Hey, I really appreciate everything you've explained. I hope this helps a lot of people understand that, as we see there today, luckily, I think, I don't know if
[44:53] tools, whether it's SELECT, uh, Quant's Access, I don't know, there are many ways nowadays to combine certain things that can help you achieve great results like the ones you've had in short periods of time,
[45:06] hope that people see your profile and see that it's trading or anything like that, and that you're a prime example of that. I think your 's a smart decision when you have more time and your
[45:19] life is settled, right? I think that seems super interesting to me. people to do what you do, but also to do it well, right? What is it, . Algorithmic trading might suit me better due to time constraints, and because it
[45:33] manage capital for you. I believe that this kind of combination of paths is what leads to success, and that's what I take away from you, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart, seriously, it means a lot to you. Yes, thank you very much for your
[45:45] Yes, thank you very much for your words. Ideally, you should find a good mentor and a good academy. Well, I'm trading with a spectacular group of people, this one with Arit, and I really
[46:00] this one with Arit, and I really went quickly to what I really wanted and needed. And thanks to them I achieved what I achieved. Otherwise, it might have been much more difficult. Correct.
[46:13] more difficult. Correct. Well, this is the important thing, is n't it? Finding the right place is also very important. Today we are lucky in that respect too, because years ago it was unthinkable to find
[46:25] professional groups that can help you get started. Today, fortunately, among others, there are many people who allow you to access those kinds of places and find the right one, and also have the ability, because not
[46:38] discern where the right groups are . In this case, you had the ability to do it and that goes a long way, 100%. Totally, totally, yes. That's why I spent so much time beforehand watching many channels, and
[46:53] beforehand watching many channels, and that helped me, and I started noticing the little. Yes, [laughs] yes, yes. Absolutely, absolutely. Very well, Jorge, well I thank you from the bottom of my
[47:07] feel like dropping by to share something here, you know it will be a pleasure of quarantine soon, which I'm convinced you will soon and towards a million. Yes, yes, soon, without a doubt. And when it happens, I'll send you a message.
[47:22] Perfect, [laughs] perfect. I really enjoyed this chat and I would n't have imagined a year and a half ago being here interviewed by such a thank you. Thank you, Jorge. It means a lot. I hope it goes very well. A
[47:36] means a lot. I hope it goes very well. A hug. Go ahead, go ahead, chach.
