This video is a concise raid guide for the Nek'zali the Soulcoiler boss encounter in The Venomous Abyss, covering both Normal and Heroic difficulty. The guide emphasizes the critical mechanic of stopping adds from reaching the soulwell, explains key boss abilities, and details the intermission and phase two strategies, including Heroic-specific changes.
The most important mechanic is to stop and kill the adds before they reach the middle. Adds that make it give the boss energy and stack raid damage.
This ability channels spirits at the target, dealing raid damage on impact. Damage is reduced by distance traveled, so tanks should move away from the boss to make spirits travel further.
Nek'zali stacks Hollowing Strikes on the current tank, reducing healing. Soulcoil Rite is a strong raid-wide damage ability, a good spot for a healer cooldown.
Essence Rend marks players with magic debuffs that drop puddles when removed. Players should run out of the group to drop their puddle, and healers should dispel only when they are out.
These adds march toward the soulwell. DPS them to break their shields, which stops their march. Use grips, slows, and CC to prevent them from reaching the middle.
At half health, the boss becomes immune. Players must defeat the big Echo of Jawae adds around the room to end the phase. During this, Echoes cast a big fire soak; on Normal, everyone should soak to avoid extra damage.
After all Echoes are dead, phase two begins with increasing raid damage until the fight ends. All phase one mechanics return, plus puddles from earlier can zip around the room, so players must stay alert.
On Heroic, Soulcoil Rite gains a stacking one-minute debuff. If adds keep reaching the middle, the debuff stacks and extends, making regular Rite damage increasingly lethal. The solution is to stay on top of adds.
On Heroic, killed Raised Amani leave corpse piles. These must be burned during intermission using the soak or the ring from staying out of the group soak. Unburned piles revive into new adds.
The fight is fundamentally about add control and positioning. Master the adds, manage the tank mechanics, and execute the intermission cleanly to succeed on both Normal and Heroic.

02:23[00:00] the Soulcoiler fight in The Venomous Abyss on Normal and Heroic difficulty. The golden rule of this fight is to stop and kill the adds before they get to the
[00:12] middle. They’re gonna keep trying, so you gotta keep stopping them. Any adds that do make it give the boss energy and stack up raid damage, which can get ugly really fast. Posession Barrage is our fancy tank mechanic- it channels spirits at the target which do raid
[00:27] damage when they hit. That damage is reduced dramatically by the distance they travelled, so get away from the boss and make those spirits walk to you. Nek’zali also stacks up Hollowing Strikes on her current tank which does healing reduction,
[00:41] Soulcoil Rite does strong raid damage,it’s good spot for a healer cooldown. Do Watch your feet during this, these rings will kick you back and hurt if you get hit.
[00:53] Essence Rend picks a handful of players and marks them with magic debuffs, which drop puddles when removed. Run out of the way to drop your puddle. Healers can dispel players when they’re out of the group, and ideally not earlier.
[01:07] Restless Amani are those adds that really want to get to the soulwell in the middle. You can see where they’ll come from based on the lit up coffins. DPS them to break their shields which also stops their march, group em up and kill them. Grips are good,
[01:22] use whatever slows and CC you have, just don’t let them make it to the soulwell. At half health, the boss becomes immune and it’s intermission time. Make your way around the room defeating the big Echo of Jawae adds to end the phase.
[01:36] As you’re fighting an Echo, it’ll cast a big fire soak. On Normal, Get everyone in that, since you’ll take special extra damage if you don’t soak with the class. Restless Amani are still waking up and making a break for the middle, keep on top of those.
[01:50] When all the Echoes are dead, we’re into Phase Two. There’s going to be increasing raid damage until the fight ends, so a real race to the finish here. All of our phase one mechanics are back. is that now and then she’ll make some of the puddles we dropped earlier just zip
[02:07] around the room. That can mow you right down if you’re not looking, so keep your eyes open. On Normal, that’s it. On Heroic, we get a few new things to deal with. Soulcoil Rite, which happens naturally throughout the fight and extra if adds hit the middle,
[02:23] gains a stacking, one minute debuff. If adds keep slipping through your ranks, you could easily stack and extend this until the regular Rite damage is absolutely frying you. All you gotta do is stay on top of adds.
[02:38] Speaking of the adds, on heroic killed Raised Amani now stick around as little corpse piles after they die. We’re going to need to get rid of those, which we do in intermission. In the Heroic intermission, both the soak and the ring you get for staying OUT of the group
[02:52] soak can now burn up corpse piles. Some of the raid still needs to be in the big soak, but a few people should stay out and go burn corpse piles with their little rings. The more grouped up they were, the easier this will be.. Any piles not burned at the end
[03:08] of the intermission will revive into new adds, so clean it up as best as you can. I’ve got more raid guides if you want ‘em and have a wonderful, wonderful day. Bye!
