AI Summary

This video provides a comprehensive guide to improving performance in World of Warcraft Mythic+ dungeons, focusing on UI setup, essential addons, and key gameplay habits. The creator, a top 1% player, shares practical tips to help viewers save time and frustration by optimizing their information processing and survivability.

[00:01]
Introduction: The Journey to Top 1%

The creator introduces the video by acknowledging the frustration of Mythic+ and promises to break down everything that helped them reach the top 1% of players, including addons, UI setup, and general tips.

[00:45]
UI Setup is Critical

A properly configured UI is essential for success. Many players have cluttered or too-small UI elements, which hinders their ability to process information quickly. The creator recommends copying their UI profile (linked in description) and adjusting the scale to personal preference.

[02:06]
Keep Important Information Near Your Eyeline

In Mythic+, you need to constantly check positioning and mechanics. Keeping all vital information (boss mechanics, abilities, procs, resource bar) close to your character's eyeline reduces eye movement and speeds up reaction time.

[02:48]
Cooldown Manager Addon

The Cooldown Manager addon is a powerful tool for tracking debuffs, procs, and cooldowns. It can replace WeakAuras entirely. Setup involves enabling it in gameplay enhancements and using the advanced options to customize what and where information is displayed.

[04:22]
Using the Buffs Tab Effectively

The creator primarily uses the 'buffs' tab of the Cooldown Manager. Major cooldowns (1-2 min) like Avatar, Infernal, or Avenging Wrath should be tracked in a 'tracked bar' state, while minor buffs can be in a regular tracked state above the character.

[05:17]
Boss Warnings are Mandatory

Deadly Boss Mods or the base Blizzard boss warnings are essential for tracking boss mechanics and timings. The creator prefers the base Blizzard UI to minimize addons, but stresses that having some form of boss warning is critical for understanding encounters.

[07:33]
Gear Up: Enchants, Gems, and Item Level

Many high-level players neglect basic gear optimization. The creator is shocked by players in 18-20+ keys without enchants, gems, or 298 weapons/trinkets. These small power gains are crucial in difficult content. Use the Void Forge to upgrade best-in-slot items to 298.

[10:50]
Class Codex Addon

The Class Codex addon is like having a WoW guide website built into your character sheet. It provides stat priorities, talent builds, rotation guides, enchants, gems, consumables, trinket rankings, and more, automatically updating based on your spec and hero talents.

[12:08]
Plater Nameplates Addon

The Plater addon is mandatory for processing information on enemies. It color-codes important mobs (e.g., blue for high-priority lieutenants, purple for casters that need interrupting) and displays everything in a clean, Blizzard-like UI. The creator provides an import code in the description.

[13:30]
Blizzy Party Tools Addon

This all-in-one Mythic+ utility addon tracks every player's interrupt cooldown in real time, including failed kicks. It also tracks party defensives and offensive cooldowns, helping you coordinate and know who can interrupt a cast.

[14:09]
Raider IO and Pre-made Group Filters

These addons help filter players based on their experience, such as Mythic boss kills, Raider IO score, and completed dungeons. This is useful for solo queuing to increase the odds of completing your key.

[14:47]
Focus Kicking Caster Mobs

Training your brain to focus-kick caster mobs is crucial. The creator uses a simple method: set focus on a caster mob as the tank gathers, then use a focus kick macro to interrupt without switching targets, allowing you to maintain damage on your priority target.

[16:50]
Knowledge is Everything

The most important factor in Mythic+ is knowledge and understanding of dungeon mechanics, not just damage or healing. Players who die to avoidable mechanics are the main cause of failed keys. Good players know when damage is coming and pre-wall or reposition accordingly.

[19:23]
Use Your Defensives

Players often hold defensives like rare collectibles, leading to unnecessary deaths. Defensives are meant to make dangerous moments safer. There is no reason to die with every defensive available. Use health potions and defensives proactively to survive.

[20:29]
Conclusion: Master the Basics

Most players are better than they think; they just don't process information properly. Mastering the basics—positioning, interrupts, clean UI, smarter cooldown usage, understanding pulls, and staying alive—is what pushes keys. The creator, an affliction warlock, is in the top 1% and continues to push.

Use Defensives Proactively

A common mistake is holding defensives too long, leading to avoidable deaths. This advice is a simple but crucial habit change.

19:23

[00:01] sometimes can be frustrating and quite frankly at times just miserable. And getting frustrated and feeling like I want to break my keyboard, currently right now I'm in the top 1% of players. And after streaming my journey and

[00:16] I thought I'd make a video breaking down everything that's helped me get up to this point so you could save yourself as much headache as possible. whether it be add-ons to have, how to set up things like your UI and name plates properly,

[00:30] and more. So, without wasting more time, let's jump into exactly how I got to the top 1%. First up, by far one of the most important steps to improving in Mythic Plus and World of Warcraft in general is setting up your user interface or UI

[00:45] properly and actually being able to visually see everything clearly. So many times I see community member UI setups and it just looks like a disaster on screen. Things are all over the place. It's messy and even in some rare cases,

[00:58] things are even too small to where you actually don't even notice them and which is a problem. So firstly, if you code from my Blizzard UI. I'll leave it down in the description below. So you

[01:11] mode, and paste it in there. It's important to know that for me personally, I like some of my UI elements a little bit on the bigger side. But you can also change this with a simple click of a button by going to

[01:23] the options and settings panel, typing in scale, and just adjusting the UI things on the smaller side, you just simply drag it smaller, and you just like it bigger, like me, you could do that as well. Remember, very important

[01:37] though, it's not simply about copying my profile and what I do. It's more like getting inspiration from me and then making it work for you to improve yourself. That's kind of the whole, you know, point of this video. You want to

[01:50] use me as inspiration to get ideas from and then customize it to how you would I like to see everything in general, like region around the viewpoint of my And something like this is so important because constantly in Mythic Plus, you

[02:06] need to check where you're standing, where your positioning is, and you don't want your eyes to do too much work and waste time going across your entire monitor to somewhere completely different. You want your ey line to be

[02:19] around the general region of your character to see everything very quickly on the screen. I have it highlighted here. Whether it's the boss mechanics slightly off to the left, the abilities you're tracking right here, procs, your

[02:35] resource bar, everything you need to see in a momentto- moment basis is very close to your ey line. So, if you want a pretty good solid UI, like I said, you can copy and paste mine in the description below. Also, since weak

[02:48] auras did get removed, something I have loved using this expansion so far is the I've gotten questions on the stream asking how I got mine set up properly in the last few streams. So, I thought I'd

[03:00] make a quick breakdown of this as well. So, coolown manager, it's a perfect for tracking things like debuffs on targets, certain procs from your character to increase your damage. It can track how long your cooldowns are still available

[03:12] know about your character, uh, you know, about survivability, damage, or even healing potential. This is absolutely critical in my opinion and there is no way I could play the game without something like this. To set it up, you

[03:27] gameplay enhancements, and then toggle on the cooldown manager. From there, you hit advanced options. And now you're able to adjust this bad boy pretty much preference. Once again, I like to have all of this information relatively close

[03:42] to things that are important so my ey line doesn't change drastically while I'm playing the game. So having it next to my character portrait as well as my cast bar and even my character himself is a good spot for me simply because I

[03:55] don't have to move my eyes much to track everything. Now the first tab on the top is the spells tab. You can use this if you want to pretty much entirely replace your UI with the cooldown manager to track specific things. I've seen it be

[04:07] used, you know, very common like for minimal UI setups. I know my brother could do it. Here are some examples on screen of how people do it. Personally, typically what I like to use is the buffs tab. This is where the cooldown

[04:22] manager for me has pretty much replace weak oras entirely. This makes it to where you simply just drag and drop what spells you would like to track in a normal tracked buff state or you can drag and drop certain spells and have

[04:34] them be in their tracked bar state. Typically a rule of thumb I like to follow is that if it's a major cool down like a one or two minute cool down, for example, like avatar for warrior, infernal for warlocks, uh avenging wrath

[04:47] for paladins, I like to have it on the tracked bar state. But when it's just my like that, I'll just put it in my regular track state right above my constantly use and apply to increase my damage. This differentiates things a

[05:02] things up to increase my damage substantially on certain poles. There's also a cooldown manager add-on called better cooldown manager that is quite customization to all of this. Personally, I don't use it, but it is an

[05:17] option if you want to really dive into this thing and make it a lot better. So, link below. Additionally, without a doubt, something mandatory to set up is either deadly boss mods or just the boss warnings in the base Blizzard UI.

[05:31] Personally, I like to have as minimal amount of add-ons as possible. So, I use the base Blizzard one, and it works very, very well. If you ever want to set gameplay enhancements, and toggle on the boss warnings. This right here is

[05:45] critical when you're in boss encounters to track certain mechanics and when things are about to happen. I cannot stress enough how important something like this is to understand boss abilities and timings on a base level.

[05:59] defensives, when you should use your offensive cooldowns, if you have time, you know, to to crank things up before the damage and certain mechanics come out. Literally everything you need to know about fighting a boss is tracked

[06:13] right here in this little window. It blows my mind how many players don't understand what's about to happen in a boss encounter and when. So if you this set up, get this going, man. Please. You can also go in there and

[06:26] would like it in a vertical drop-own format or a bars format like I do, however you'd like it, you can customize it in the edit mode. Once again, if you of this UI, you can check out mine in the description below to get it imported

[06:40] from there, you can just change the scale of everything how you would like. Personally, you just type in the UI scale toggle in the settings panel. I need to stress yet again why all of this is so important. Why am I going over

[06:53] stuff like this? Well, your base UI and information being processed to you in a clean and understandable way is almost everything. I consider myself a pretty good player, but if you put me on a UI that makes no sense to me and I'm not

[07:07] able to see what's going on and process information, I'll look pretty average ways to improve greatly in Mythic Plus, in WoW in general, is to clean up your UI, have you able to track and process your character's information, whether

[07:20] your survivability, or increasing your healing, and to be able to respond to that information properly. So, step one on how to improve is clean up how you process information and how it works for

[07:33] you. Before we get into some other crucial tips and add-ons and stuff, I need to talk to you about something that seems obvious, but apparently most highest level, at the level where I'm near at, do not follow. And that's

[07:46] getting your item level up, enchanting, and geming. You may think I'm joking here, but I'm actually being dead serious. It blows my mind how many players are running very highlevel keys like 18, 19, 20s and beyond, and

[07:59] literally don't have any of their gear enchanted, gemmed, or even have 298 weapons and trinkets. I'm so serious right now. It is mind-boggling to me that players are leaving potential power on the table when they're trying to do

[08:13] difficult content. just enchants and gems is a few percentage points of power down the line where you're pushing as hard as you can where every percentage of power starts to become very critical in progressing through the game and that

[08:27] content. Additionally, we have things like the void forge giving you 298 seeing players queue up for content and not even have this like set up ready to go. So, please make it a priority. Use the void forge on trying to get your

[08:41] best in slot items or as close as you can and then boost these items to 298 to gain power. Like don't be that guy in the party who has way lower item level than everybody else. No enchants, no gems, no flasks, no weapon oils, no food

[08:55] buff, no augment rune. You want to go in there and treat it like you're trying to complete it. Treat it like it's your key rather than getting carried. Also, don't forget you also have the new patch coming out in the 7 where we get the

[09:07] Omnium Folio for extra power as well as the 298 Sporefall raid gear as well. So, what's funny is a lot of people want to start making content online, whether it whatever. But most people never start because they think monetizing it is

[09:21] complicated. And honestly, it doesn't have to be. That leads me to today's sponsor, which is Fan View. Fan View is a platform built for creators to actually turn content into income. And what I love the most is how simple it

[09:34] all is. You create your content, build your audience, and Fan View gives you the tools to monetize it directly. Basically, you upload your content, and give your biggest supporters access to exclusive content and subscriptions from

[09:46] people who support what you do. The cool part is you actually don't need some probably the biggest misconception. A lot of people think you need to already have like a big following before you can monetize, but platforms like Fan View

[09:58] make it easier to get started early and scale over time. If you're somebody content, whether it's gaming clips, guide streams, or anything else, this is one of the easiest ways to understand how creator monetization actually works.

[10:10] front of the camera to be generating money through Fan View. Fan View allows AI creators the same opportunities to monetize their content through the Fan View Creator Academy. You'll learn the simple step-by-step process to get

[10:24] started, and they'll help you start with your own AI creator and showcase how you want to learn more and start building your own income, check out the Fan View Creator Academy with the link in description and pin comment. The Academy

[10:37] breaks down how to get started, grow, and monetize yourself. So, if content thinking about, it's definitely worth looking into. Huge thanks for Fan View for sponsoring today's video. Also going into some add-ons that can pretty much

[10:50] help you and dial you in. One of the first ones that I think is mandatory just in general to have as information is the class codeex. I get asked about this add-on constantly in the comment section, in the Twitch, in the live

[11:03] streams. And the thing is this is basically like having an entire WoW guide website built directly into your character sheet. The second you open pretty much everything you would normally have to tab out of the game

[11:15] for. We're talking stat priorities, talent builds, hero talent setups, uh rotation guides, enchants, gems, consumables, trinket rankings, crafting priorities, best and slot gear, dude, literally everything top to bottom, and

[11:28] it automatically updates it based on your spec and hero talents. What I clean and convenient it is. Instead of sitting here with Wowhead open on a character panel and everything is right there. So, if you swap from raid to

[11:43] mythic plus or delves or whatever the case may be, it instantly changes the recommendations and it'll update it for you. The trinket section alone, honestly, is awesome, too. It'll give you an actual S through D tier rankings

[11:55] you're doing. So, really, really awesome stuff here. When it comes to some other add-ons, number one on the list when it comes to actually improving everything going on has to be the Playtonator add-on. In my opinion, this is an

[12:08] absolutely mandatory add-on when it comes to processing information on enemies in Mythic Plus. What this does is help highlight enemies that are very important inside of dungeons and color code them for you. For example, if you

[12:22] have your lieutenant mobs that take extra time to kill and they're very difficult mobs, I have them colorcoded in blue, which I know to prioritize them also have the purple mobs which are highlighted to me as casters that need

[12:37] to be interrupted, so on and so forth. Not only that, it also shows their everything else in a very clean, functional, and blizzard-like UI manner. Additionally, the add-on is very, very easy to use and customizable to however

[12:51] starting point, you guys can take my import code that I'll have in the link in description below to copy paste and import to get you started. From there, you can go to the design tab at the top, customize the crap out of this thing to

[13:04] it. And then there are a ton of options to go through and make it personally still feels like a Blizzardbased UI design because I don't want my game to feel like a spaceship. Like, I don't want it to feel like I'm playing a

[13:17] Warcraft, and this add-on does that perfectly for me. Additionally, when it comes to pushing keys and trying to hop in on pickup groups, another add-on I found could be useful is Blizzy Party Tools. This is pretty much an all-in-one

[13:30] mythic plus sort of like utility add-on. Uh, a lot of people use this for the big feature, which is the interrupt tracker. Uh, it tracks every single player's kick cooldown and interrupt in real time. So, instead of, you know, randomly praying

[13:42] someone can interrupt the cast. You instantly know who has their kick track fail kicks as well. So, if somebody overlaps, the add-on will tell you, which is nice. It also tracks party defensives and offensive cooldowns. So,

[13:56] if your tank pops a major defensive or somebody sends a giant damage cool down, you can actually see what's going on. Additionally, you have the raider IO and the pre-made group filters add-on. Both of these help sort of, you know, help me

[14:09] filter out certain players, what and you know, what they've accomplished in game based off things like mythic boss kills, raider io score, how many dungeons they completed, so on and so forth. Now listen, I know it seems pretty toxic,

[14:21] me differentiate players that are a little bit more experienced and well practiced and help me decide who I could possibly take into my key a little bit better. So, if you're, you know, solo queuing and pugging constantly like me,

[14:34] of course, you want the best odds possible to try to complete your key, and using add-ons like this, uh, definitely helps. Now, getting just into some general tips on what helped me improve my plugging experience overall.

[14:47] First up, we have focus kicking caster mobs. This is something that you need to start training your brain to do almost the second you start doing dungeon content in general in World of Warcraft because it's actually a very big deal.

[15:01] go about focus kicking with, you know, crazy macros and add-ons involved, but personally, I like to do it the oldfashioned way. So, typically as I'm heading into a poll with my tank, as you can see on screen here, I will check my

[15:14] plate inator plates and check if there are any caster mobs in the group. From there, as the tank is gathering everybody up, I will set focus a mob that needs to be kicked. And then I do this by simply going to the key binding

[15:26] as quickly as I, you know, can. So, I'll set them focused and then whenever the mob is about to cast a spell, I simply have a set focus kick macro installed in my character on a keybind as well, so I can kick them whenever I need. And the

[15:41] mobs out there that you're dealing damage to, like a high priority lieutenant, which is quite often, you don't want to take the time to tab target from mob to mob that's casting, attempt to kick it, and then try to tab

[15:55] target back to who your priority target is. You want to simply just keep your damage rolling on the lieutenant the entire time and then simply just kick the mob with a click of a button and not have to swap off at all. So, you can see

[16:08] in some of these clips as I do this, the kick is almost instantaneous and my the entire time. I've seen some people completely upfront though, I'm not entirely sure like the best route to do

[16:21] because I don't have to rely on any like third-party situations and you know have something messed up because I have had that happen before. It's as simple as I have a set focus little keybind and then I have a set focus kick macro and that's

[16:34] doing it, leave it down in the comment section below. I'll also leave my focus you know down in the comment section below so you can just adjust it however desperately need you all to understand as well about Mythic Plus is that

[16:50] is everything. Most players think dealing crazy damage and incredible healing and pulling a million mobs at once. And while of course stuff like that is important to an extent, what

[17:04] really makes a good player is the knowledge and understanding of what's happening in a dungeon and when. Everybody thinks what makes a great player is their parses and and and their healing potential, but in fact, it

[17:18] should be their knowledge check of the dungeon. I don't care how much damage you do. I don't care if you're the top 99.9% DPS player in the world. I wouldn't want you in my group with a 10-ft pole if it

[17:31] meant that you die constantly in my Mythic Plus dungeon. I wouldn't even Mythic Plus dungeon. I wouldn't even consider you for an invite ever again if that are either straightforward and things you should know are coming. I

[17:44] cannot stress enough how many keys fails not because the group lack damage or potential healing or the amount of mobs we pulled, but because people are constantly dying to avoidable mechanics. They stand in frontals. They don't use

[17:58] potion. They don't move. They panic during mechanics and then wonder why the key breaks. One of the biggest differences between average players and a genuinely good mythic plus player is just awareness of the key and

[18:12] survivability awareness. Good players know when damage is about to happen. They know when to pre-wall mechanics before it's going on. They know when to sacrifice a little bit of DPS to reposition and, you know, survive

[18:25] properly. They know when to health potion early. They know when a pole is instantly swap their mindset from, "Okay, let me stop damaging for two seconds and focus on pure survival." And trust me, surviving the pull is always

[18:42] more important. Like 99.999% of the time, surviving is the most important thing to focus on. I would much rather have a player doing lower damage that stays alive consistently. They interrupt and they understand

[18:57] mechanics than some guy blasting DPS dying every other pull because he refuses to move his character or use cooldowns properly. Every time you die in Mythic Plus that's 15 seconds off the clock and then you potentially have to

[19:09] use a battle res and then you have to run back and then yeah, it's just a killer for the time. So don't be that guy. You got to understand the knowledge of the dungeons and understand what to do and and when to do it properly.

[19:23] Another massive mistake players are making is is it seems obvious, but holding their defensives like they're some freaking rare collectible item you're never going to use again. Dude, use your defenses. Your defensives are

[19:36] there to make dangerous moments safer. There is absolutely no reason to die with every defensive available because you're just saving it for later or you were just saving it for a better time. One of the biggest

[19:49] complaints I get from healers from their, you know, Mythic Plus community is that is that constantly people just die without using defensives at all. There is no reason you should be holding defensive cooldowns if things get a

[20:01] your healer out, and it'll come back up in a minute or two. Don't forget also your life as well. And I can't tell you how many times I've used health potions, and they've literally saved me in keys of high levels. So, please, unless

[20:16] no excuse what your defensive capabilities like, you should be living absolutely no problem. Don't be scared to use your defenses and don't be scared them. But yes, ladies and gentlemen, hopefully this video helped you out a

[20:29] understanding of Mythic Plus overall because the truth is most players are just they're way better than they think they are. They just don't process information properly yet. And I'm telling you guys right now, you'd be

[20:42] surprised the amount of people I encounter in Mythic Plus in solo Q at a very high level that genuinely seem like they have no idea what the hell is going they're failing keys because you need damage or healing or better gear or you

[20:55] got to be a meta spec when in reality it's just the little things, man. If you telling you it's better. I would much rather have someone in my party that masters the basics of the game rather than somebody who's at like S tier

[21:09] damage, but they have no idea what the hell is going on. Like better positioning, better interrupts, cleaner UI, smarter cooldown usage, understanding polls, and just staying alive. That's the stuff that pushes

[21:21] affliction warlock, and I'm in the top 1% and I'm continuing to push. So, like, trust me, I know mythic plus can be frustrating. I'm playing affliction, guys want to come hang out and watch me on the journey, check us out on Twitch

[21:36] this YouTube channel as well. So, if you guys have any questions or or you know, comment section below, leave it down there and we'll uh we'll check it out. Don't forget, if you want to learn more about starting your own creator income,

[21:50] check out the Fan View Creator link in the description below. A lot of good information there to get you started and monetize your content. Hey everybody, content, consider subscribing or check out one of the videos you see on screen
