The Importance of Ending Stories

[00:03] okay let me tell you a story on February 28th 2020 a French story on February 28th 2020 a French rapper known as Lelo released a 22 track concept album titled Trinity now it wasn't lelo's first album it was his

[00:16] fourth but this one was different and it is the album that made him go from a talented artist with a cult following to one of the pioneers of modern French hip-hop 5 years later Trinity is now considered to be a modern classic so

[00:30] much so that the specific sound and identity of the album became kind of its own subgenre of rap in France okay so why was this album so special why did it impact people like this I mean there are many reasons but

[00:46] aside from it being a master class of atmosphere building the unique artistic Direction the overall quality of the project and the fact that were accomplished artistic universes in the genre the element that made it stand out

[01:00] this much is that Trinity is an album that tells a fictional story from beginning to end the album is split into three sections that play out like three acts of a movie and with the meticulously crafted dark futuristic

[01:15] cyberpunk Vibe around the entire piece there is a sense of immersion to Trinity that could almost be compared to a cinematic experience Trinity tells a story where Lelo or Jay that's his real name meets an enigmatic woman named

[01:30] Trinity at a party and basically the entire album is the tale of the extremely intense and mutually destructive romance that

[01:48] [Music] ensues no no no

[02:03] in life and lives most of his existence on autopilot he doesn't really believe in anything and has no idea where he's going he has a hard time connecting with people and he feels misunderstood he feels like he doesn't belong anywhere

[02:16] but then he meets this mysterious woman on a night out with his friends and they immediately connect their romance gets very intense very fast they fall in love so hard it's almost unbearable they cannot stay away from each

[02:38] other Trinity is mystifying she's elusive she's kind of an enigma Lelo is trying to solve sometimes she disappears in the night and nobody knows where she goes and then she reappears and is part of his life again it's a big mystery but

[02:51] their attraction to each other is almost destructive it's too intense it's too much in the second act which starts with the song piranha baby the temperature keeps Rising Lelo and Trinity feel Invincible the intensity of their bond

[03:06] both emotionally and sexually keeps Rising they become obsessed with each other living this life of debauchery devoid of any kind of limits but that Rising temperature that becomes almost suffocating leads to an inevitable

[03:21] explosion that rips them apart from each other it gets so extreme and so toxic they live in such an intense debauchery of love always on a high of extreme heat that in the song Burning Man Lelo literally Compares himself to Kurt

[03:47] realize that their relationship cannot continue to go up in intensity despite their love for each other they're going to implode if they keep going and that's exactly what happens in the song akanizer a song that is designed to be

[04:00] aggressively suffocating the temperature is so high the intensity reaches such is so high the intensity reaches such Summits that the song itself crashes signaling that there was a rupture in the flow of their love

[04:27] like a classic Hollywood story about a toxic relationship right out of euphoria toxic relationship right out of euphoria but the story has a Twist after Jay loses Trinity due to this endless cycle of toxic behaviors

[04:41] there is a sense of desperation that takes over the Final Act of the album the vibe goes from intense and energetic and falsely confident to a darker more nostalgic tone the whole album is overtaken by a dreaded sense of sadness

[04:57] and Melancholy Lelo feels lost without his love he is begging to get Trinity back in the song million flowers he cries as he hopes she hasn't moved on he gets drunk and goes to her place with flowers to beg for forgiveness but she's

[05:12] flowers to beg for forgiveness but she's not opening the afraid that things went too far he desperately wants to change but he

[05:27] always messes up and he can't bear the thought of her getting with another guy but his sense of desperation feels misplaced it feels wrong Jay seems to be confused about their breakup as if he doesn't fully understand what led them

[05:41] to it or how it even happened in the first place he's aware that he made mistakes but he also feels like he did everything right and yet he's still losing her but he doesn't talk about it like it's a relationship he talks about

[05:54] doing everything right as if he had the right settings and then before or the final song you get this strange interlude where you hear a conversation between Jay and Trinity and suddenly everything makes

[06:11] Trinity and suddenly everything makes sense

[06:53] history Trinity [Music] [Music] that's the twist Trinity isn't real

[07:05] she's not a person she's a program a program designed to make people feel emotions and that's when you realize that the and that's when you realize that the entire album is Lelo having a digital

[07:19] experience where an artificial intelligence transmits emotions to him makes him feel this entire story makes him feel that intense love and it's like a drug to him he's addicted to the rush he consumes those emotions suddenly this

[07:34] entire theme of him not having any limits in his debauchery takes a whole other meaning he's become so addicted to this program that he can no longer separate Trinity from reality and that completely crushes that weird hope you

[07:48] have for him to get her back he can't get her back because she doesn't exist she was just content she was just a piece of something that is meant to be consumed to be EXP experienced and he desperately wants this program to tell

[08:02] him that what they had together was real because he has nothing else this way the story has of making you root for them Against All Odds of conditioning you to believe it'll all be fixed like any other Love Story any other hopeful

[08:17] romance and that Lelo and Trinity will find each other it's a lie he doesn't fix things he can't fix things and he can't because that's not what it's about this isn't a story about him saying his romance it's about him having to accept

[08:32] that it ended whether Trinity was real or not it doesn't matter the emotions he felt were real to him there is no saving it there is no continuing it all good things must come to an end and he has to sit with that the interlude leads to the

[08:47] final song of the album titled loel which in English directly translates to sad program and in this song He marks the end of the story in a very interesting Way by accepting that he lost Trinity that she wasn't a real

[09:01] person to begin with that he won't get her back and that he's alone and forever Tethered to the real world he convinced himself that he was living this false life that was entirely digital and when he's back in the real world he has

[09:14] nothing he doesn't know what to do and his oppression has reached such high levels that he Compares himself to a machine a software with broken code a program that malfunctioned and that is now left with the absence of emotion

[09:29] because his overload of sadness crashed his system

[10:04] takes this broken dissonant digital sound to craft a sad Melody that drives the entire thing both him and his world are broken code because his lack of limits his refusal to accept the end of things have successfully destroyed him

[10:22] things have successfully destroyed him [Music] Jay is now a man that is so empty inside that he turned to a program to feel

[10:38] things but emotions are very real no matter where they originated from and once the program does its thing once the story comes to an end there is nothing story comes to an end there is nothing left for him but to accept it but how

[10:51] can you accept endings if you don't have limits I love Trinity it's one of my favorite albums it's dark it's weird it's a great story about addiction about love about the need for human connection and about self-destruction and toxic

[11:05] and about self-destruction and toxic Cycles but most of all this is an album where Lelo essentially begs people to understand the importance of letting understand the importance of letting stories end allowing conclusions to be

[11:18] truly final and to stop this incessant need we have to consume and consume and consume the way his love for Trinity became consumption he could not stop he frames it as a romance but it is a commentary on a lot of things mainly

[11:34] media and the relationship we have with it nowadays the way everyone is only half living in the real world and half living in this sort of digital dystopia that we created ending stories is something a lot of media today struggles

[11:48] with quite a bit especially in Hollywood where I feel like in the past decade more so than any other time there seems to be a genuine fear to end something Hollywood has developed velop this insufferable aversion to conclusions

[12:02] about a year ago I made a video about that where I go over a number of massive movie franchises Hollywood just refuses to let die I could have made that video 10 times longer given how many there are but while this has been an issue with

[12:16] movies for a while now I think television has progressively become even worse it seems like stories in the current ERA of Hollywood are like zombies it is very rare that stories are about to end now and a lot of movie

[12:31] franchises and mostly TV shows seem to be continuing to exist just for the sake of continuing to exist and even when they do end they are revived as zombies and to be clear the focus of this video is more specifically American television

[12:47] who I think is the biggest offender when it comes to this issue I think other countries are very aware of the fact that stories should end in order to be good they very much see TV shows as piece is they need to have a beginning

[13:01] and an end so that they can then exist as a complete thing people can look back on they still find a lot of value in the legacy of their stories but that's kind of Gone In America and we've been feeling that absence of respect a lot

[13:16] especially in the last handful of years but it's kind of always been a thing the very model of television in America was making it difficult for stories to end because in that model a successful series is is a series that runs for as

[15:09] the show I've always said there are a lot of American shows that would have been much better if they were just shorter there are plenty of shows that would stand as higher than Legends if they just known when to stop and yes I

[15:24] know I'm not teaching anything to anyone here everybody knows that ragged reality business the people at the top of this realm don't give a [ __ ] about art and stories they just want to make money so they created a business model that

[15:37] have to sacrifice everything else in the process it's been a sort of indirect recurring theme on my channel since I started it back in 2021 a recurring theme that I never failed to mention and that theme is my absolute disdain for

[15:52] specifically when it comes to American television the tendency of forcing shows to exist past their initial idea and I think that is one very specific flaw

[16:04] that is becoming kind of impossible to ignore and I could use so many shows as examples whether they be from Recently or from like 20 years ago One Tree Hill didn't need to continue post High School the Mandalorian should have ended when

[16:16] he accomplished his mission in season 2 it was a Perfect finale because it was the natural ending point of the story That 70s Show should have ended when Eric left Point plays to go to Africa that extra season was [ __ ] and

[16:30] ruined everything suits should have never gone past Four Seasons finishing this show was a [ __ ] chore which is insane when you remember how badass it was in its early seasons why it got nine Seasons when three of the five main

[16:44] characters had already left the show will always Escape me once upon a time is about seven seasons too long and there are seven seasons total so you do the math Gossip Girl would have been a perfect show if it had just been that

[16:57] one season you can actually watch season 1 and consider the finale the end it actually works quite flawlessly as a series finale Pretty Little Liars quite literally forced itself to live past its own concept and everybody agrees season

[17:10] 6 and seven are an incoherent mess that had no reason to exist and the show had so you can only imagine the handmade stale is officially too long and I stopped caring this show was [ __ ]

[17:24] spectacular there's absolutely no reason this needed to be six seasons everybody can feel this show dragging for no reason like casad papel should have been two seasons that ending was pretty [ __ ] cool and the show was still

[17:37] somewhat believable at the time sex education should have been a one season miniseries Scandal should have been a one season miniseries Prison Break should have been a one season miniseries and speaking of which let's talk about

[17:49] this tendency Hollywood has to release shows as limited series only to come back on their word when that limited series becomes a hit and then they forc them to continue a story that is already over 13 Reasons Why was supposed to be a

[18:04] one season limited series and it should have continued to be that big little lies was initially supposed to be a limited series and as such it is a 10 out of 10 show but it became way too big and got way too many accolades so HBO

[18:17] renewed It Anyway season 2 isn't bad by any means but it's Meandering and it feels unnecessary and apparently we're getting a season 3 for some [ __ ] reason season 2 came out like six years years ago what are we continuing this

[18:30] for I have made a 2 and 1/ half hour video breaking down every reasons why continuing stranger things past season 1 when it was designed to be one season was the biggest mistake they could have done beef is now getting a second season

[18:45] on Netflix that was supposed to be a oneandone the flight attendant was initially meant to be a miniseries but it was really successful so it got renewed but then people stopped caring and it was cancelled so now the story

[18:59] remembered fondly is just incomplete and abandoned congratulations you lost at your own game but out of all the shows that shot themselves in foot by just refusing to quit even when getting past

[19:12] the natural ending point of their initial idea I think the best example initial idea I think the best example for me like on a very personal level is how to get away with murder a show I was properly obsessed with when it started

[19:25] airing in 2014 2014 this show is 11 years years old what the [ __ ] I'm so old I love this show with a passion it was some of the most fun I'd ever had watching TV I wish I could forget about season 1 just so I can experience it

[19:41] forget how it made me feel if how to get away with murder had been a one or two season series that stuck The Landing just like season 1 did it would without a doubt be one of my favorite shows of all time it is absolutely ridiculous how

[19:56] hard this show went in its early years fortunately though it wasn't a one or two season limited series the show kept going and kept going and kept going

[20:08] despite the fact that it had a pretty limited concept a great concept don't get me wrong but a limited one not every idea is good to make a show that is like idea is good to make a show that is like five seasons plus and this show refusing

[20:21] to conclude genuinely hurt me how to get away with murder is probably the first TV series I dropped because I felt like the story they intended to tell was over and they were just continuing it for the sake of continuing it I quit on the show

[20:35] sake of continuing it I quit on the show one episode into season 4 I watched it and something in my brain just went this [ __ ] feels forced now and I never watched another episode all of the clever storytelling methods the show had

[20:47] created were turned into gimmicks that made the entire thing feel repetitive and Bland and I just didn't want it to turn into a show that frustrates me so I none of the friends I watched it with finish the show my brother didn't finish

[21:02] the show and in general while it kept somewhat of a cult following how to get away with murder slowly faded into pop culture obscurity and most people who started it didn't finish it and most people who did finish it seemed to be of

[21:15] the opinion that it wasn't worth finishing season 3 had already been losing me slightly but managed to have an interesting mystery and that finale felt like a very fitting ending to a majority of the characters but they kept

[21:29] going and watching them attempt to set up another mystery in season 4 in the most contrived way imaginable just felt annoying to me and of course the biggest annoying to me and of course the biggest example of all as we all know is say it

[21:44] with me kids Supernatural for those who don't know Supernatural was created by Eric kpy who is now more famous for making the boys and he was the showrunner KP key had a very specific vision of what this story

[21:59] would be he wanted to tell the tale of two ghost hunting brothers who go on a mission to find their missing father a mission that eventually leads them on a path to saving the entire world you first meet the brothers as they fight

[22:12] evil spirits and other Supernatural entities oh that's the title eventually they discover the existence of stronger and stronger forces from vampires wendigos and Sirens to the Incarnation of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

[22:27] and you follow them as they repeatedly saved the day working their way up to eventually having to face their final and their most dangerous enemy The Devil

[22:39] Himself that was Eric kpk's story he planned a five season series where the planned a five season series where the final boss would be Lucifer in person his vision was super strong and he worked like crazy to make sure he made

[22:52] the best [ __ ] show he could make and he succeeded he actually got to execute his plan like like he envisioned it season 5 ending with what I can only describe as a Perfect finale the final episode of season 5 appropriately titled

[23:07] swan song is not only the best episode of the show but I believe it is also in the conversation for being one of the best episodes of Television ever made it is an emotional gut punch and a flawlessly executed climax that makes

[23:21] all five seasons come to an end in the most Bittersweet yet satisfying way imaginable it was the clothes that would have probably made it go down in history as one of the best shows of all time

[23:36] time but the problem is Supernatural was on the CW a network that is not very known to care about telling good stories so when they arrived at season 5 when the show was at the top of its popularity

[23:50] even though they knew this was the end of the road the CW just went hey let's keep going and Eric kpy who was about to pull off his [ __ ] Masterpiece he was

[24:02] pull off his [ __ ] Masterpiece he was like guys guys we knew this was a five season thing this this is it this is the end of the story we're not continuing and the CW was like nah let's keep going kpy was like why the C W said because we

[24:18] can kryy said just because we can doesn't mean we should the CW said but doesn't mean we should the CW said but we should kryp key was like why CW said because money K said what about the Integrity of the project the legacy of

[24:32] the story CW said Integrity doesn't make money so Eric crypy put his foot down money so Eric crypy put his foot down and he said guys for the love of God I just delivered you the best series you've ever produced one of the greatest

[24:47] you've ever produced one of the greatest ever made it is ending at the height of ever made it is ending at the height of its popularity we actually pulled it off we're not continuing this if you can continue this show past this point it's

[25:01] going to be without me and the CW looked at him took a long me and the CW looked at him took a long pause and said okay [ __ ] off then so

[25:13] Eric kryp Key left the show and the CWU went on to make 10 more seasons of Supernatural 15 Seasons total completely ruining the legacy of what should have

[25:26] been one of the greatest endings in in TV history and I don't know if you've seen the actual ending of Supernatural the series finale in season 15 most the series finale in season 15 most people haven't but holy [ __ ] the fact

[25:41] that they managed to make an ending this shitty knowing that they had initially pulled off a perfect sendoff is one of the most frustrating things in the world that face a similar Faith by the way I think for a lot of people lost kind of

[25:55] went on for too long and lost its way in the process there's obviously The Walking Dead that lasted 11 seasons and this show only ended because of a legal issue and was separated in a number of spin-offs that continue its story in

[26:09] various ways they have no end in sight for this story and I don't know a single person left around me that still watches this [ __ ] they kept going because it wasn't about the story it wasn't about the characters the body of work the art

[26:22] it wasn't about that it was about following a business model if a show is doing well you just keep it going and that's something that we've seen way too much of a show is good so people watch it but then there's no ended sight and

[26:35] it keeps going and it keeps going and it keeps going and they only decide to end it when nobody is watching it anymore and the show either gets cancelled or gets a very weird final season with an underwhelming botched ending because it

[26:48] is now ending a story that was never meant to end because again if a show is doing well you just keep it going just because does it gets eyeballs in front of screens and since there is a lot of those we can sell a lot of ads and make

[27:03] a lot of money so another season and another and another the story you wanted to tell is over well I don't care this [ __ ] still works make another season anyway scrubs is a show that had a celebrated ending after eight seasons

[27:16] close and the show had been so successful that a spin-off was in the successful that a spin-off was in the works but the network ABC got greedy and forced the spin-off to be reworked as a season 9 of the original series that had

[27:31] nothing to do with the Original Series so scrubs is this great sitcom with an almost perfect run uh but then it has a random ninth season with an entirely new cast that is just really bad and then instead of having a solid ending the

[27:47] show is just cancelled and the more this happens the more I find myself praying that good TV shows end quickly so that we have a good story that is complete and the show doesn't get the opportunity to lose steam or get bad like currently

[28:02] I am crossing my fingers and praying every God in existence That season 3 of severance is announced to be the last or like season 4 Max I want them to wrap this [ __ ] up on their own terms while they still have the spark but you know

[28:17] what everything I just said that's not even the biggest problem that's not even the worst part of Hollywood refusing to let stories end no the big issue right now is that we live in the era ER of streaming services and it is a very

[28:32] weird era for television streaming services revolutionize the way we watch TV but it's still very new and they're figuring out a lot of stuff first of all streaming services are a logistical nightmare when it comes to who owns the

[28:45] rights of what it's a [ __ ] mess of ownership licensing old contracts it's wild that is why every other week you get news about how this massive show is leaving Netflix this summer or this movie franchise is going to be on Amazon

[29:01] Prime but only the first three movies in the franchise the others are going to be on Paramount Plus or some [ __ ] it's a lot of [ __ ] because nobody really knows how this stuff is supposed to work they're still building their business

[29:13] model and because these companies want as many people as possible to subscribe so that they can make money they're all battling each other to get rights to get stuff that brings people every streaming service wants to be the streaming

[29:27] service that has the Harry Potter movies every streaming service wants to be the one that has friends or the office and because there are different rights for different regions of the world it creates this insanely bizarre black hole

[29:40] of availability in this broken business model for example I live in Canada and here there is literally no way no platform for me to legally Watch That

[29:53] 70s Show it's my favorite sitcom of all time and I just can't watch it it's not on Netflix it's not on Amazon Prime it's not on [ __ ] crave it's not on Apple TV plus as far as Canada is concerned that 70 show does not exist I can't

[30:08] watch it anywhere so because they know it's a big old mess over the last few years streaming platforms realize they needed to change their strategy because pre-existing media is too volatile currently they need to create stuff that

[30:21] will be 100% theirs and that people will tune in for but making new original stuff is tedious it's difficult to convince people to tune in for that they understood they had new platforms to promote and they knew they had one

[30:35] weapon to get people to subscribe to them and that weapon is unused IPS all of the studios collectively came down with the exact same strategy to get

[30:47] people on their streaming platforms one single order of action reboot literally everything let's dig into our studio IPS let's find what we actually have the

[31:01] rights for and let's reboot it let's make a sequel let's make a prequel let's make a remake everything every piece of media every intellectual property we own that was popular in the80s the '90s the 2000s [ __ ] it even the 2010s even if it

[31:17] 2000s [ __ ] it even the 2010s even if it was 2 years ago bring everything back anything that had a fan base let's revive this [ __ ] what Legacy who gives the [ __ ] talk about Legacy let's ruin Legacy if it makes us money my guy

[31:32] that's what we're all about turn everything into a franchise reboots spin-offs Revival sequel series animated adaptations of liveaction [ __ ] liveaction adaptations of animated [ __ ] whatever it is we need recognizable

[31:47] names on the platforms and we need it yesterday that's their strategy anything that is even slightly recognizable from a big series that ended to a random oneoff B movie that had 15 minutes of fame back in 1991 all of it is to be

[32:05] turned into a franchise a franchise that is exclusive to their platform every story that has ever ended is to be unended we don't let anything end

[32:17] because everything is exploitable that's all they thought about the people on their platforms it's their one and only strategy and it is a bad strategy which is something that they have been proving repeatedly over the last few

[32:33] years tell me if you've heard this scenario before a classic TV show or franchise is being rebooted with a new series by a streaming platform it creates a short moment of hype sometimes even controversy but people are talking

[32:47] people are curious after a time of wait the reboot comes out and it's kind of original the characters don't feel the same or the new characters feel like contrived ripoffs of the previous ones long story short it's just an incredibly

[33:01] underwhelming experience for everybody but because people got curious and tuned in to see what the reboot was going to look like even though it was poorly received the season did well enough in terms of audience numbers so the reboot

[33:15] is renewed for a second season a year or two later that second season comes out but this time people are not curious they already know what this is they already know they're not interested nobody cares so nobody watches it and as

[33:30] a result after that second season the reboot is cancelled and almost instantly forgotten does that sound familiar I like to call this phenomenon the two season curse and well let's take a look at TV reboot SL remake sequel series

[33:46] that came out just in the last 5ish years fate the wing saww guy live action reboot of Winks that came out in 2021 was cancelled after two seasons that 90 show the sequel series to that 70 show about the kids of the previous main

[34:01] characters was just cancelled a couple months ago after two seasons How I Met Your Father the spin-off of How I Met Your Mother starring Hillary duve two seasons and goodbye Gossip Girl 2021 the bane of my existence cancelled after two

[34:17] miserable Seasons Quantum Leap the reboot of the 1989 cult classic time travel show lasted two seasons before getting cancelled last year Velma the animated reboot of Scooby-Doo dead after two seasons Pretty Little Liars original

[34:33] sin the reboot SL sequel series to the massive Pretty Little Liars was obliterated out of existence after two seasons the reboot of Frasier a Classics that come from the 9s dead after two seasons did you guys even remember there

[34:47] was a Twilight Zone reboot in 2019 made by Jordan Peele yeah lasted two seasons canceled nobody even remembered it existed Saved by the Bell had a Revival existed Saved by the Bell had a Revival Series in 2020 it died after two seasons

[35:03] the 2021 reboot of Fantasy Island a classic mystery TV show from the 70s cancelled after two seasons I can keep going all day the point is it has happened too many times for it to just be a coincidence at this point this is

[35:19] clearly a massive flaw in their strategy but Hollywood is slow it always takes them forever to understand their own [ __ ] especially when it's such a widespread Cry of desperation and keep in mind I only named the reboots and

[35:32] spin-offs that lasted two seasons some of them lasted one some of them lasted three but they've all been cancelled True Lies is dark materials 24 me Gyver no piercer Pitch Perfect the lward I Carly Walker Texas Ranger Magnum PI and

[35:49] other reboots that are so Random they could be an SNL skit I bet you guys didn't even know there was a step up up TV show that came out in 2018 and ran TV show that came out in 2018 and ran for three seasons or a Greece TV show

[36:04] that came out and immediately died in 2023 I Know What You Did Last Summer got a TV reboot that was cancelled so fast nobody noticed it and now the studio nobody noticed it and now the studio opted to try again just a year later by

[36:51] ever growing frustration over this extreme overabundance of reboots in Hollywood lately this seems to have been the straw that finally broke the camel's back an absolute Avalanche of Anger from audiences who just feel like nothing is

[37:04] sacred anymore in fact the backlash was so loud that just 24 hours after the announcement Sarah Michelle Geller herself put out a statement on social media to address the reboot she clarified that the project was indeed in

[37:18] development that she never expected to say yes to it but she reassured everyone that this reboot would only be made if they can truly make it good long story short she's trying to communicate that she understands the weight of the show's

[37:31] Legacy that she takes it extremely seriously and she really wants to get it right she only agreed to making it because she really truly believes they crack the code and have something great and look I love Sarah Michelle Geller

[37:45] and I believe that she means it when she says she really thinks this is going to her this Collective groan of disappointment just comes from the fact that yet another streaming platform is digging a beloved IP from its grave and

[37:59] reanimating it as a pop culture zombie in a desperate attempt to get people to subscribe to their thing sure it's the game it's the business but like I said nothing is sacred anymore and these reboots are always botched they know

[38:13] they're going to ruin it but they don't care and they don't seem to get it despite the fact that 99.9% of these atrocities are failures they're forced to cancel they don't seem to be showing any sign of stopping this

[38:27] apparently we're getting a sequel series to One Tree Hill Dexter is coming back again they literally made a sequel series a couple years ago to attempt to redcon one of the most hated series finales of all time except the ending of

[38:43] the sequel series was just as bad if not worse so now they're making a third worse so now they're making a third series to redon that second ending and try again I'm sorry I love the cast of Dexter but this is this pathetic this is

[38:59] so embarrassing let it die we're getting a Harry Potter reboot series an animated reboot of Twilight a spin-off series of it alien is getting a TV show Resident it alien is getting a TV show Resident Evil is being rebooted for the fourth

[39:14] Evil is being rebooted for the fourth time in 3 years one piece is getting a remake and no I'm not talking about the liveaction one which is actually really good I'm talking about a new anime that

[39:27] is retelling the story of the first anime that isn't over yet because the anime that isn't over yet because the manga isn't even over we are getting to manga isn't even over we are getting to the point where we are rebooting things

[39:42] that haven't even had the opportunity to be completed first there's going to be be completed first there's going to be two one piece anime telling the exact two one piece anime telling the exact same story airing on television at the

[39:56] same story airing on television at the same time time what are we doing we are in the zombie era of Hollywood every major project that comes out is just the reanimated corpse of a story that was

[40:22] been a whole process and in the last 48 hours alone we got an announcement that a prequel series to Friday the 13th is on the way and just a few hours ago uh on Friday so Valentine's Day Happy Valentine's Day by the way uh a sequel

[40:36] to The Goonies is coming the [ __ ] Goonies so yeah uh this problem is not going anywhere anytime soon and we live

[40:49] in a beautiful world it's not that there aren't original ideas or Original Stories but they're very hard to find because they're not really put in the front by the platforms making those that's why I like doing a top 10 of my

[41:01] December you'll notice that a huge chunk of those shows are smaller shows that large audiences have likely never heard about because these shows are not being they're not being given the spotlight they deserve people are burnt out on

[41:17] reboots and sequels because that is all they are ever being advertise thank God on television I've been screaming on rooftop about this show since 2022 it

[41:29] was in my top 10 of that year and it was number one but nobody knew about this gem because Apple TV plus just wouldn't Market it properly it's only now with Market it properly it's only now with season 2 3 years after the show premiere

[41:43] that they were finally like hey this is pretty good we should we should probably push this thing more and now they're marketing the [ __ ] out of it and good I truly believe sance is the best show on TV right now shrinking is easily one of

[41:56] the best shows of the 2020s and it's gotten a bit more popular this year but is still criminally underrated largely because it is also not marketed the best scavengers Reign is one of the most Soulful unique animated series we've

[42:11] seen in years it is a spectacular emotional philosophical Space Opera but nobody watched it and it was cancelled after one season look I've talked about all this a lot on the channel and as a result a bunch of you guys have dm'd me

[42:25] asking if I could make a list of completed series that didn't go past their initial idea for no reason so if you are looking for shows that are self-contained not too long that don't

[42:37] go on forever and only focus on telling a great story from beginning to end here is my suggestion list for you flea bag is a master class of human exploration it's a witty comedy about a very flawed woman who is desperately trying to get a

[42:51] hold of her own life this show is funny sad unexpectedly touching it manages to portray and explore some of the most complex human emotions you can think of and it's overall just incredibly human the entire show is two seasons a total

[43:05] of 12 episodes of about 30 minutes each you can literally watch all of it in one day it plays out like two thre hour movies Pantheon is an animated mystery series I just talked about in my top 10 of 2024 it is a two season streak of

[43:20] Genius about Humanity's relationship with technology and one of the coolest conspiracy plots I've seen in years it recently got a re-release on Netflix it is one of the most underrated shows to come out this decade banshe is a Four

[43:33] Season action drama about an unnamed criminal who goes to a small town and steals the identity of the sheriff for unknown reasons it is an absolute blast with some of the most charismatic characters I have ever seen on TV it's

[43:49] experience again for the first time Russian doll is a mind-bending comedy drama about a game developer named n who unexplainably finds herself stuck in a Time loop I kind of went into this show Without Really knowing anything about it

[44:04] and I was shocked at how good it was it's two seasons long and it has Natasha Leon in it that's more than enough reasons for you to watch it Mr Robot is a weird ass show about a socially anxious hacker named Elliot who is

[44:16] recruited by a group of cyber Vigilantes to take down a giant Corporation but this Mission ends up revealing secrets about his own life and uncovering a large-scale conspiracy that that could affect the entire world this show is

[44:29] what I like to call a constant mind [ __ ] it is Four Seasons long and every time you think you understand what's going on the show flips itself on its head and your jaw will drop to the floor every single time it has insane performances

[44:43] insane twist and I think this show might have one of the best pilot episodes of all time I can genuinely tell you there isn't another show like Mr Robot out there it is truly One of a Kind the end of the [ __ ] world is a show I have

[44:55] talked about on the channel before it is a hilarious dark comedy about a [ __ ] teenage girl who falls in love with a psychopath and they go on a road trip it's only two seasons long and it's one of the best binge sessions I've ever had

[45:09] mayor of East Town is a fantastic limited series starring Kate Winslet telling the very Sinister story of a depressed detective whose life is completely falling apart trying her best to hold herself together while

[45:21] investigating the murder of a Teenage mom in her community it's seven episodes mom in her community it's seven episodes long and it is ridiculously good and of course I could not make a list like this without mentioning my favorite show of

[45:33] without mentioning my favorite show of all time dark an Untouchable Masterpiece from Germany about the mysterious disappearance of a kid in a small town named Winden a disappearance that nobody

[45:45] can explain but trust me when you realize what is actually going on in this show when you start peeling off the layers of this mystery your mind will be blown beyond recognition dark is perfect from

[46:01] beginning to end not a single second of this show is anything less than Flawless it is only three seasons the show is treated like a Trilogy and it genuinely addition to this you have all the more

[46:16] popular ones like Arcane the Queen's Gambit Ted lasso the good place Breaking Bad succession watch succession I swear to God avatar the Last air bender The Haunting of Hill housee Emily and Paris I'm kidding you can also take a look at
