3:49[00:00] with shows like overlord that one time i
[00:02] was recriminated as a slime shield hero
[00:05] and many more gaining large popularity
[00:08] for these past couple of years i started
[00:10] wondering one thing
[00:12] why
[00:13] why are all of these isekai so popular
[00:17] while some of them
[00:18] garner their fame through great stories
[00:20] and amazing characters
[00:22] some feel as if they simply gain
[00:24] viewership based on the fact that they
[00:26] are simply izekiz
[00:28] when i decided to think about it more i
[00:30] came to a somewhat sad conclusion
[00:32] why do people play games watch films or
[00:34] anime
[00:36] why do we drink alcohol even when we
[00:38] know it's damaging ass
[00:40] the simple answer is it's fun but for
[00:43] some people this fun is an escape from
[00:45] reality we all need an escape once in a
[00:48] while however in some cases these things
[00:51] that we do use to escape reality can
[00:54] almost become damaging or possibly
[00:57] life-threatening some people do the same
[00:59] thing with work making them workaholics
[01:01] sometimes and obviously that's not
[01:03] healthy either
[01:04] as someone that's not very old himself i
[01:07] don't want to feel like i'm preaching
[01:08] but i do believe life is about balance
[01:11] being able to balance the tough things
[01:14] in life with the happy and things that
[01:17] help us escape
[01:19] is the best way to live a functioning
[01:21] life in my opinion
[01:23] hey esekai
[01:24] functions by the fact that it relates
[01:26] with people some people hate their lives
[01:28] and most people are depressed these days
[01:31] while i'm not sure if we're more
[01:33] depressed or we got asked the question
[01:35] and gave a proper answer for the first
[01:37] time that's a topic for another time
[01:39] this is something that i've thought
[01:41] about a lot throughout a different idea
[01:44] if people could do full day vr like sao
[01:46] some people wouldn't leave that world
[01:49] the idea of being in a world where
[01:51] you're allowed to be a different person
[01:53] is appealing to people
[01:54] and if they got a chance to restart
[01:56] their lives they would this has the same
[01:59] ideas going back in time and changing
[02:01] the little things but if you restart
[02:04] you'd get to change everything you don't
[02:06] like basically idea plays with those
[02:09] things in our brains making a story
[02:12] relate and resonate with some people
[02:15] while some might think this is sad i
[02:17] think this is a genius idea to start a
[02:20] story with problematic characters while
[02:22] adding a fantasy element
[02:24] after all most people find reality
[02:26] boring and the idea of bettering
[02:28] yourself relatable
[02:30] these ideas are best represented in a
[02:33] show called mushuku tensei as the main
[02:36] character lived a terrible life and was
[02:38] a terrible person
[02:40] in the story he strives to learn and
[02:43] become a better person if you want to
[02:45] know more about it check out the video i
[02:47] made about it it'll be in the top right
[02:50] and i'll put it in the description for
[02:51] you
[02:53] there are many ways that the story can
[02:54] be presented while still keeping the
[02:56] basic idea the same
[02:58] overlord has a great twist on the idea
[03:01] and is one of the most popular anime due
[03:04] to the way that he used the idea the
[03:06] main change is how the mc doesn't feel
[03:08] human emotions properly anymore as he's
[03:10] known dead
[03:11] making his choices more evil the more
[03:14] this becomes normal to him with a cast
[03:17] of interesting characters and a simple
[03:19] yet large world
[03:20] it managed to capture the interest of
[03:23] many people that have watched it
[03:25] as i myself write stories this is a very
[03:27] interesting topic to think about as
[03:29] there are many different archetypes of
[03:30] story writing and insecurity is one of
[03:32] the more modern ones
[03:33] normally this would restrict your
[03:35] freedom when writing a story however the
[03:37] idea of reincarnating in a different
[03:39] world allows a lot of freedom
[03:41] as a reader and viewer of these stories
[03:43] i always found myself fascinated waiting
[03:45] to learn more about this new world and
[03:47] how it functions
[03:49] lastly i'll talk about why isekai's
[03:51] aren't going to be going away anytime
[03:52] soon think back 12 years do you remember
[03:55] all the zombie themed books
[03:57] games shows films and stories
[04:01] the reason why the zombie fiend died was
[04:03] due to the restrictions the story
[04:05] revolving around them was
[04:07] most of the things happening were still
[04:09] based in reality and honestly there's
[04:11] only one movie series that i loved with
[04:14] the zombie theme
[04:16] these being the resonant evil films now
[04:19] if you like the games good but the
[04:21] movies were their own thing with the
[04:23] main character getting super powers
[04:26] a much different take on the zombie
[04:27] topic
[04:29] the biggest difference between the two
[04:30] themes is the freedom that they allow
[04:32] when creating a world
[04:34] a sakai allows two new roles to be
[04:37] created and depending on the way you
[04:40] decide to develop them there's infinite
[04:42] possibilities
[04:44] creating a twist for these stories is
[04:46] easy and allows the creation of very
[04:50] different main characters from each
[04:51] other
[04:53] if you think about it a lot of the main
[04:55] characters in these worlds fundamentally
[04:58] have very different aspects to each
[04:59] other
[05:00] for example think about that one time i
[05:02] was reincarnated as a slime and overlord
[05:05] whilst you could say that they're both
[05:06] mobs monsters they still have very
[05:09] different characters
[05:10] they even have different characteristics
[05:12] and you could still make some
[05:14] comparisons between them so for example
[05:16] let's think about shield hero the main
[05:17] character of shield hero is very
[05:19] different to them and honestly he has a
[05:21] totally different agenda honestly think
[05:23] about it with zombie shows
[05:26] you're very much targeting a specific
[05:27] audience which is adults but with
[05:29] something like an issac you could go for
[05:31] children
[05:33] teens or adults
[05:35] just like i said the creative freedom is
[05:37] much larger with an isekai type story
[05:39] if you like the video and want me to
[05:41] create more like it hit the like button
[05:43] and make sure to subscribe for future
[05:45] anime content do you think there's more
[05:48] that i could have talked about or do you
[05:50] think i made some bad points put it in
[05:52] the comments and let's start a
[05:53] discussion i'll respond as fast as
[05:55] possible to any comments made also sorry
[05:58] if the video was a little bit depressing
[06:00] wanted to make a little bit of a
[06:01] different type of video and i still hope
[06:04] you enjoyed
