Who are you and what's your channel about? >> My name is Marques and I make tech videos. >> Where do you get the idea for like not just your next video, but your next few videos? >> It's a combination of the new tech coming out and what I'm interested in and what the audience seems to be interested in. >> How do you handle decisions about like a video that's going to bang, but you don't you know

that into it versus a video that you really are passionate about that may not get as many views? >> It's classic dilemma. Luckily, the overlap is pretty good with me. I have a lot of interest in tech that the audience also likes. Sometimes there's stuff that I know that I'm more interested in than the audience probably is. I'll do it anyway and I'll understand that it'll get less views and then I think what you'll hear a

lot of creators say is your next one's for them. And it'll be the thing that they were all waiting for. So, you can kind of play with that a little bit. >> I love that because some people think every video should get a million views and then they're they're disappointed when the MKBHD video doesn't. >> No, I think that's part of I mean, if you're privileged enough to have built up an audience that likes you and

trust you you have the ability to play with you a little bit and share some stuff that you might not bang, but that builds that trust and the audience that's there for you will check it out. >> And what do you do when a video doesn't perform as well as you hoped it would? >> Try to learn from it. Again, not every video can do as well as you think, but sometimes the opposite happens where a

video does better than I expect. I try to learn from that, too. >> What's the best advice another creator has ever given you about YouTube? >> Wow. Uh is to have the packaging for the video in mind before starting to make the video. That's like common knowledge now, but eight or nine years ago when I was given that advice, it was not. >> You have a lot of families, a lot of kids watching YouTube. What do

you hope they're getting from your channel? >> I hope they're getting an enthusiasm for tech and and information that is useful to them for purchase decisions. >> What was the moment when you realized I could make a business out of YouTube? >> It was when one of my college professors, my junior year asked why I hadn't dropped out yet. Um and then I had to think about it, really realized that I could. I did finish school,

but the real answer was that I was making actual money from Founder Program and could just make it my job when I was done.
