Most Reliable Car? A Rotary RX-7!
51sShocking contrast between reputation and reality creates high engagement and debate.
▶ Play ClipIn this episode of Cars & Bids Live!, host Doug DeMuro is joined by Ron Zaras from Hoonigan to auction a diverse lineup of vehicles, from a 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet to a 2JZ-swapped Ford F-150. The conversation covers car culture, reliability, market trends, and the appeal of analog sports cars.
Ron Zaras joins the show, noting his FD RX7 is the most reliable vehicle he's owned, despite the model's reputation for unreliability.
Ron recounts blowing up a Lancia Delta Integrale, an Evo 9, and a Land Rover Discovery. He shares a story of a chip-tuned Integra that melted pistons after 10 miles.
Ron sold his Land Rover Discovery to a mechanic who offered cash instead of fixing it, acknowledging the vehicle's head gasket issues.
Ron describes the RX7's startup ritual: prime fuel pump for 30 seconds, pump gas twice, start, sputter, then restart. The car is an 'F.U.' to convenience.
Doug posits that few truly great cars came from the 1980s, with exceptions like the late-80s Porsche 930, VW GTI, and FD RX7. Most 80s cars were terrible.
The first auction car is a 2001 996 C4 Cabriolet with a manual transmission. Doug notes 996s have become more affordable and are viable enthusiast cars.
Ron discusses the mid-2000s as the peak of analog sports cars before electronics and turbos took over. Examples: S2000, E92 M3, Evo, STI.
Doug drove a mint F430 Spider and notes that dual-clutch transmissions marked the end of the analog era. The mid-2000s were a sweet spot.
The C6 Z06's 7.0L dry-sump engine was also used in a helicopter and the Camaro Z28, highlighting its versatility.
Ron prefers the AP1 S2000 for its higher-revving engine. The CR model was initially maligned but is now sought after.
The S2000 did not sell at $18,000. Doug considers $18-19k a good price for a 97k-mile example.
Doug argues that with EVs achieving sub-2-second 0-60 times, speed is no longer a differentiator. Enthusiasts now value feel, noise, and analog experience.
A 1997 WRX with right-hand drive and mods is up for auction. Ron notes the car is surprisingly quick and a 'Lego' for modifications.
Ron shares his experience daily-driving a right-hand drive Toyota Mark II, noting the left side of the car feels enormous initially.
The WRX is at $7,500 with no reserve. Ron expresses interest in buying it himself.
Ron observes that many Japanese imports have aftermarket steering wheels, often wood-rimmed, regardless of how stock the rest of the car is.
Doug notes that 996 GT3s are now more expensive than 997 GT3s, calling the 997 GT3 a bargain. He advises viewers to buy 997 GT3s.
Ron explains that RX7s blow up due to pinging from lean tuning. Running rich with good cooling and breathing makes them reliable.
Ron doesn't mind V8 swaps in RX7s, but prefers it not be done to a low-mileage, pristine example.
Doug wants a naturally aspirated, automatic Mk4 Supra as a daily driver because it's affordable and he wouldn't worry about driving it.
Doug loves survivor cars like a mint 1985 Maxima GL. He notes that well-preserved mundane cars can be more exciting than exotics.
The 1985 Maxima had a voice that said things like 'the door is ajar' and 'your seat belt is unbuckled.' Doug wonders why modern cars don't talk.
Ron comments on the 80s design trend of using grid patterns on gauge clusters, which was meant to look futuristic.
The 1985 Maxima sold for $3,500. Doug thinks patina might add $500 in value.
Ron considers the Evo 6 the pinnacle of the Lancer Evolution line, with the Evo 4 being similar mechanically but less desirable.
Ron shares that the Evo 6's wide body and parts are direct transfers from the WRC rally car, making it a true homologation special.
Doug predicts that Evo 6s will become more preserved and valuable, as R34s are already out of reach.
Doug observes that certain car segments are softening, but blue-chip cars remain strong. Land Cruisers have come down from 2021 peaks.
Ron has no personal Grand Wagoneer stories, associating them with wealth. Doug describes the driving experience as 'optimism.'
Doug says the Grand Wagoneer feels like a 1950s car: giant hood, carbureted V8, overstuffed bench seat, and lots of body roll.
Ron jokes that Chrysler would still be making cars without airbags if not for government regulations.
The Grand Wagoneer is at $12,250 with 216,000 miles. Doug is surprised it's not higher, recalling some sold for $25k+.
Ron explains that the overhead console (added in 1988) is a status symbol among Wagoneer owners, containing a compass and sunglass storage.
Kenan loves the Z4M Roadster for its manual-only transmission, S54 engine from the E46 M3, and low production numbers.
Doug notes the Z4M is tail-happy and requires attentive driving, with a stiff ride that was criticized but is now appreciated.
Ron describes the sound of a CSL carbon airbox on an S54 as 'half a McLaren F1,' praising induction noise.
A one-owner 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth with 28,000 miles is up for auction. Doug calls it one of the best cars for the money, with great sound and handling.
Ron comments on Abarth's tendency to put badges everywhere, contrasting with the minimal badging of 80s cars.
The Abarth sold for $11,300. Doug considers it a steal, noting it's a 10-year-old car with low miles that can be beaten on and resold.
A Japanese-market Land Cruiser 100 with the legendary 1HD-T diesel engine is up for auction. Doug notes these are now 25 years old and legal to import.
Ron shares a story from Africa where a Land Rover Defender had to tow a broken-down Toyota Land Cruiser, a rare reversal.
Doug explains that many imported Land Cruisers are repainted and have hidden rust. This example appears to be in good original condition.
Ron notes that the Land Cruiser's locking differential makes it ideal for driving on two wheels, a stunt popular in Dubai.
Doug points out that left-hand drive 100-series Land Cruisers came with an older engine, while Japanese right-hand drive ones have the updated 1HD-T.
Ron admits that the fender mirror on Japanese cars is actually useful for seeing the front corner, despite looking ugly.
Doug reveals that Cars & Bids has sold 2,166 100-series Land Cruisers, with a peak in 2021.
Ron contrasts overlanding in the US (with fully kitted 4Runners) vs Africa (where a simple 70 Series is used). He prefers the African experience.
Doug calls the GT4 the best driving sports car for the money, offering 97% of the experience for 10% of the cost of a supercar.
The GT4 is being sold with no reserve. Doug respects the seller's confidence, noting the car's spec and market are well-known.
Ron tells the story of building a 2JZ-swapped F-150 as a tribute to Brian's shop truck from Fast & Furious. It started as a junkyard V6 manual truck.
Ron explains that for YouTube, you need a transformative build—starting with a wrecked truck makes the story more compelling.
The truck makes 640+ wheel horsepower and is 'unhinged' to drive. It has no climate control, as it was built for visuals and story.
The F-150 is at $26,000 but did not meet reserve. Doug notes that YouTube builds are like concept cars—not meant for daily use.
Doug recalls driving a Terminator Cobra-swapped Lincoln Town Car that was well-executed, unlike many built cars.
The hosts start answering audience questions, covering topics like best SUV, $50k do-it-all car, and Mustang vs 400Z.
Doug jokingly answers 'Bentley' to the best SUV question, then seriously discusses Chevy Equinox vs Genesis GV70.
Ron recommends a two-car solution over a single do-it-all car, suggesting an E39 M5 plus something else.
Doug shares his idea to buy a modified 997 Turbo and turn it into a safari build, noting no one has done that.
Ron prefers the 400Z for its 300ZX-inspired taillights and great chassis, while Doug notes the Mustang's digital gauge cluster can mimic the Fox body.
Doug advises the owner to use restraint with mods, as stock or tastefully modified examples will hold value best.
Doug observes that 80s and 90s Mercedes models like the 190E and W126 have started to appreciate after being cheap for years.
Doug shares that he is often asked to leave filming locations by security guards, despite his channel's popularity.
Doug explains he chose a Countach over a Diablo because the Countach is a deeper icon and more undervalued, despite the Diablo being cool.
Doug notes the Monte Carlo is the last full-size American coupe and looks like a NASCAR. A supercharged SS sold for $9,400.
Ron points out that the Monte Carlo Intimidator edition has Dale Earnhardt's signature on the gauge cluster, a unique feature.
The episode blends live car auctions with deep car culture discussions, highlighting the shift from speed to experience in the enthusiast community. Ron's insights on building and owning modified cars provide a realistic look at the joys and pains of automotive passion.
"Title accurately describes the auction lineup and guest; delivers exactly what car enthusiasts expect."
What is the startup procedure for an FD RX7?
Prime the fuel pump for 30 seconds, pump the gas a couple times, start (it sputters and dies), then start again.
05:05
What does Ron say is the key to making an FD RX7 reliable?
Run it rich, give it good cooling, and let it breathe. Avoid pinging by not leaning out the mixture.
25:42
What is the 'driver's era' according to Ron?

What is the approximate price difference between a US-spec manual turbo Mk4 Supra and a right-hand drive example?
About 50% discount for the right-hand drive version.
27:32
What feature did the 1985 Nissan Maxima GL have that Doug misses in modern cars?
A voice that says things like 'the door is ajar' and 'your seat belt is unbuckled.'
31:38
What is the 'flex' on a 1988-1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer?
The overhead console with a compass and sunglass storage.
47:09
Why does Doug want a naturally aspirated automatic Mk4 Supra?
Because it's affordable, he wouldn't worry about driving it, and it can be a daily driver.
28:04
What engine is in the Z4M Roadster?
The S54 from the E46 M3.
49:03
How many 100-series Land Cruisers has Cars & Bids sold?
2,166.
01:04:11
What is the 'transformative build' philosophy for YouTube car builds?

01:11:00
What does Doug say about the Porsche 718 GT4?
It offers 97% of the experience for 10% of the cost of a supercar.
01:06:41
Why did Ron choose a Countach over a Diablo?
The Countach is a deeper icon and more undervalued.

01:06:41[00:31] we're live we're good we're all good okay great we are live today me and Kenan are here hey Kenan with Ron zerus from hunigan what's up guys Ron brought an fdrx7 to us today that's correct the most reliable vehicle I have somehow
[00:46] that speaks such volumes yeah it really does just to my personal Automotive that is the most reliable vehicle that you had that is like a notoriously unreliable vehicle yes well I just got recently got rid of a Land Rover
[00:59] Discovery too um oh man blew up a luncha Delta um oh man blew up a luncha Delta integral uh an evo9 which kind of reliable is until you really start messing with them which of course I did
[01:12] and blew a turbo on that there's there's no one with an fdrx7 who also has an EVO you just know it's a fact P feel like I'm having judgment passed on me right now wait so what happened to the integral it blew up okay here's the
[01:27] thing it's it was actually it always starts that way it was actually super reliable I daily drove it uh we did a story with it on hoonigan uh we went to Europe we bought cars that we
[01:41] cars uh drove it on the nurur ring Autobon everything bought it sight on Autobon everything bought it sight on scene which is a huge no no um brought it to the US daily drove it fantastic I got a
[01:55] chip cuz that's how you tune these cars oh that's yeah it was that you don't it's not an ECU it's not anything it's a you literally get a British man sends you a microchip and like a sealed package you thought to yourself hey this
[02:07] is a 35-year-old car with no part support or mechanical support in America if thought was really part of the process it was more feeling of like I just want a little more a little more and then that mixed with California 91
[02:22] octane uh I did it right before we were going to do a Canyon Drive I took it out and just smoke billowing out of the back of this it felt amazing for about 10
[02:34] put the chip in only get the 10 miles out of it and then it blew up yes wow so what happened to the motor uh it melted a piston melted two Pistons which I engine anyway now it's over at mountune over in Torrance they're rebuilding the
[02:49] engine so wow yeah they're going to make it cool I hope so they're going to make it cool uh I'm going to try and restrain myself from doing any other dumb stuff probably a good idea probably probably so who what poor soul did you find to
[03:03] take this Landover Discovery off your hands uh some guy who doesn't know my mechanic that's the perfect person for that the maintenance item on those Vehicles is the head gasket because sure
[03:17] that's a consumable so I dropped it off with him I'm like hey man I got to do selling it and he's like all right cool yeah that's cool and he knew what he was doing right he did the job right and then I show up and there's a stack of
[03:30] then I show up and there's a stack of cash on the counter and the bill and he says you could either pay this right right he's like you pay this you take that and probably come back to me soon right or I make this disappear and give
[03:43] you this stack of cash and you leave here a happy man and I was like you drive a hard bargain my friend I love this truck I do I adored it but I lived in Utah for a while it was the perfect perfect Utah vehicle y exploring you
[03:57] moved to Los Angeles and I was just commuting in this thing that got you know at best 9 m per gallon right and no off-roading with it or anything so I was like you know what that's a great offer I'm gonna take you up on that so that's
[04:10] how that disappeared um years ago I had a CL Range Rover Classic oh beautiful and I sold it was it was great I had a lot of problems including overnight they the battery drain mine just didn't lock I had to
[04:24] manual lock everything in the end I had to just leave it unlocked right so I and I figured he knew he knew what he was getting into yeah there there were going to be no surprises and I never heard from him cuz he knew he knew it's
[04:37] unlocking on a battery tender somewhere he probably fixed it probably he better have I I one would hope actually the truth is I saw this car for 8 Grand it which is like the dream one and that car is now probably worth three times I know
[04:51] years ago oh okay and but you know what I have no regrets because it would be him for eight but I would be in it for 50 if I had kept it that's and the doors that you would have kept it anyway knowing you it would have been over just
[05:05] that let unreliability was that's the end of it I don't mind an unreliable car actually I don't know that could be extremely reliable so far so good okay there's a startup procedure mhm um it's not a car you can just like angrily
[05:19] storm off in like f you and then get in the car it's like f you and then you get in you have to let the fuel pump Prime for 30 seconds you then you pump the gas a couple times then you start it it sputters and dies then you start it
[05:31] again and then it goes well even so the whole car is kind of an Fu that's kind of the whole point of so it really matter that it's that difficult to start that car came out and the kind of person
[05:43] that was buying it yeah hey babe hold on a second fuel pump going on the whole process she's all dressed up for dinner it's like 10 minutes before you can even leave the house yeah I couldn't stop thinking about when I drove it to work
[05:58] about like late ' 80s in Connecticut taking that car from like Fairfield County into the city like there were guys and you know I have this theory discuss we're supposed to talk about these auctions but let's let's continue
[06:11] this theory that not that many good cars actually came out of the 80s the 80s have there's a rep that like the 80s were all these great cars I don't the late ' 80s had a few correct yeah that's the thing my reaction to this is what
[06:25] all these cars He Nam all these cars came it's like well all right yeah yeah yeah the very very end and you're like 80s cars are terrible 89 ' 90s cars are exactly right yeah nobody talks about like 98 right right right right cuz
[06:40] that's the round jelly bean crap 355 was in production in '98 I wonder but it came out in '95 and it was probably conceptualized in '92 still in of good cars came out of the ' 80s there
[06:53] really weren't and but that car was like if you think about what else was on the road when that was driving around spaceship it was was a lot of trash and then that we sort of came up with three it was that the 930 of course and then
[07:07] like he said the Volkswagen GTI original GT yeah and those are all that's all pretty fair I would say and even the RX7 of that era like there's a nostalgic look to it and everything but by all means like stock it's a terrible car
[07:22] they've been like what about this and that it's like well actually the ' 80s version of the car you're saying right it's like it says something when there's a love around it because all the coolest ones are modified to like right it's a
[07:36] shell with all other things you know right CRX well you know they had 80 horsepower like was it really that great it's I drove a CRX recently and I I was like is this is it broken is it is this stay on it might not be working and he's
[07:51] like no that's how much power we have over here a stamman CRX you remember those stamman did convertible conversions with 300 crxs I have to see conversions with 300 crxs I have to see this and I drove it and it's cool yeah
[08:03] but like then the Miata came right right it's like well the real the real driver's cars yeah right so you like you could have a front-wheel drive CRX that the top was cut off of or you could have a Miata the the CRX
[08:16] there wasn't when they did the conversion and it still is cool I mean you took an NA no one would look at the na but people be like what is this CRX oh you would win Cars and Coffee that day yeah you would come in first place
[08:28] um okay I want to tell you Ron by the way uh also last night Kennan and I went to mini golf and I beat him yeah he yes but I was really making a comeback on the back nine that was that was like we were
[08:42] did he beat him the friend we played with also gave him the wrong score so he thought and you know he being incredibly how much we sucked well no it's worse than I thought actually I thought the
[08:55] part was 54 the part was actually 41 so I shot at 49 I thought it was six under or five under so you thought you were doing awesome right and then not so much was it was it like a like the blue water Lagoon kind of mini golf or was it like
[09:08] sweet yeah those are the absolute greatest you get like a Three Buck hot dog and you get like essentially Porton water next to you they're also they're playing music hits exclusively from 2008 and it was it it was it was great that's
[09:23] kind of painful though that's a realization that those are now oldies realization that those are now oldies look I beat kenon um why a lot I think I came in last I that's not very nice which Speaking of uh being nice to to
[09:36] Ken and I Kenan I I really think you should have a cookie I heard that the audience I've been working on it oh they're delightful what the audience what what what did they say was told that I wasn't allowed to eat a cookie
[09:48] we didn't have any for some reason we all have a giant plate of cookies we and so the audience was upset about this for some reason this is and so now is fantastic mat be didn't have any cookies unfortunately we'll send him
[10:01] cookies unfortunately we'll send him cookies next time he wasn't here um but feel free to have a cookie okay Ron we let's try K S2000 oh yes this is the first car that we're selling today okay all right it's uh new formula
[10:16] red oh and it's a AP1 AP1 it's a nice car 97,000 miles imagine doing 90,000 miles in an S2000 God it just be tight that's so much buzzing buzzing in your head lot of buzzing just bought uh an ap2 2006 S2000 um mainly because I
[10:33] wanted to experience it but my buddy Vin and I we have this whole concept about this era of cars we call it the the driver's era to us it's that cusp of the best analog technology like the peak of analog but before everything started
[10:49] going really small displacement electronic everything you know small electronic everything you know small turbo engin so like the S2000 the e92 M3 um the the Evo the STI you know the Evo 99 was such a raw car and then it went
[11:03] on to become this bloated kind of comfortable thing and this is like Peak this theory that that mid-2000s will someday be looked at like the 60s were yes like you had these still these amazing analog sports cars before
[11:18] screens before Tech before automatics before hybrids before plugins but they were still fast enough yes that it wasn't like the '90s where you have to this stuff to it to to kind of bring it to the modern era and frankly the cars
[11:33] also got not just more usable too they were also relatively reliable you say this is a BMW guy from that era you know relative is they were relatively reliable they were were especially compared 80s and90s stuff I mean k it's
[11:45] a good example 355 yeah it's an outlier is an outlier that period that mid-2000s period was like it's magic it was magic it is Magic I drove a a a mint condition F430 Spider yesterday 370 mil on like truly like a brand new Carz you drove it
[12:01] yeah how many miles did you put on it like three I did not drive it very far Which percentage wise a huge part of that car's life it'll be on the site soon but I but yeah it was but it was amazing like I just forgot how like it
[12:14] performance was so good it just like that really was like you know the 458 know you start the Dual clutch kind of starts to take away from the experience start to be like kind of what were the distinguishing like the Dual clutch was
[12:28] kind of the of that era yep and dual clutch was kind of the end I would agree boxes that work really well and are paired with certain totally but when I but when I think about how that like
[12:42] that era that mid 2000s it's kind of defined by the end of like the era ends out that was also sort of the beginning of plugins kind of making an appearance the came out in like 10 which is basically cuz pdk came out a n and the
[12:55] shift to more turbocharged engines as like a standard when na engines started was the end and they actually started caring about gas mileage in performance you had you had to actually make an effort right right right yeah I I would
[13:08] I think that's a fair fair statement that uh the the DCT the pdk that was kind of the beginning of that new the next phase the this car we have in here right now the c66 is another good example that era like you could never do
[13:21] that now it's such a we were talking before this 7 lit dry sump it's insane l seven L like what was happening I looked it up when I was I was doing a video on
[13:34] the c66 and I looked it up that engine was in two other vehicles it was in the Camaro Z28 at the time right and it was in a helicopter what excuse me some helicopter used it I don't know that was the in the C6 Z6 that's
[13:50] which helicopter I don't know it was some BS like you buy it and it whatever but you can make the statement an helicop contain this this engine you know the CR G Formula 1 engine yeah but it was in a car right my engine was in a
[14:04] helicopter what's up yeah um so back to the back to the S2000 I mean this thing when you're looking at these in my opinion for an experience AP1 is the one to have because it is the one that revs the highest uh you know later on they
[14:19] they improved some things here and there but man if I was in the market for one personally AP1 all day the CR is pretty cool though CR yeah which is ironic because when the CR first came out it was a um kind of a cynical like run out
[14:34] model like just sell a couple extra units stuff on it uh a wing here a front bumper and yeah but that is another tenant of the car World which is that cars that are maligned when they first come out not that that was but it was
[14:47] of pull trying to pull one over on us are often the cars that become the most rare model and everything I mean the the Evo that I have was it's an EVO RS so in
[14:59] 2006 this car was being sold with rollup Windows no radio no sounding you you ding in the bottom and when forgot about that people were going nuts they were like it it doesn't have anything and it's sold for Less at the dealer and now
[15:16] there's only 358 in the US market Evo 9 RS so at one point I had two and I wanted three or four just so I could say I have 1% of all Evo rs's in you guys wow that is wild wild wild
[15:31] wow uh S2000 is at 18 looks like it's going going didn't sell 990,000 mil s going going didn't sell 990,000 mil s 2018 is kind of I mean I don't know the that car is around that is a pretty good I mean those cars are it's a lot of car
[15:46] for 18 it's so much car for 18 and I I think if you could get that thing for anywhere around 18 or 19 that's a really good price because the one we purchased good price because the one we purchased recently at hoonigan was 70,000 miles 75
[15:59] uh blue uh little ratty interior but everything else is pretty decent and when that car first came out everybody complained that it was slow right and
[16:11] I've started to really think speed is become so reachable yes yeah that like my God that doesn't matter it's about the feel experience and the feel of that car is just magic that dude hit the nail on the head the economy of 0 to 60 times
[16:27] in quarter mile time and everything that doesn't it kind of matters but nobody's buying a car just because of that anymore like when you have Teslas and you have all these like future cars that are just doing sub 2 second 0 to 60
[16:41] times you're like okay do I really need that or do would I rather have a good visceral experience and the noise and the look and all that and some seems to really get it uh but other manufacturers don't and they're still
[16:55] chasing like these ultra high performance like as certain point you it's just it just doesn't matter anymore 0 to 60 at 2 seconds and below it all feels the same it's insanely fast Kia ev6 is faster than CR GT yeah a great
[17:10] example the fact that that's true it's just like okay well speed is over it's over we don't care anymore nobody cares about m40i also faster 60 the the enthusiasts don't uh but the enthusiasts also aren't buying these cars like brand
[17:24] brand new still want to say well my car is faster than yours yeah true but regardless like speed is clearly it's just too easy it's so easy and so then you start thinking about experience and now this the fact that the S2000 is slow
[17:39] doesn't really matter it do it's so good at all look at every vintage 911 over that's going to get smoked off the line by a Camry V6 totally or a minivan totally or a four-cylinder camera let's be honest real that's true a V6 Mustang
[17:54] you know how embarrassing would that be but right you know it doesn't matter cuz that car right well speaking of four-cylinder cars I want to bring it to four-cylinder cars I want to bring it to the WRX that's 97 WX this is a ronera
[18:07] special absolutely beautiful did you guys pick these cars just for me I don't know or not C Japanese car wild modded Japanese car heavy this thing is cool I love these early wrx's the the font right there the font on that WRX and and
[18:22] and everything through there was one uh I think it was a couple Generations later they had this big like anime style WRX logo on the back that one's super Co graphic type thing you know what's sad we've actually sold a bunch of these
[18:36] '90s wxs and a lot of them in Japan they removed those Graphics because over time it looked stupid they wanted to bad Co that looks dude look at that fun through a bunch of corporate people and they said yes that's yeah Hey listen it
[18:50] the mid90s that was what you did it looked cool I love these cars the thing subtle they're they're surprisingly quick they're like fast cars I just I'm like not obsessed with driving right-and drive I'll completely agree with you I
[19:05] had a right-hand drive car once that I daily drove it was a Toyota Mark I jzx90 four-door Supra essentially yep and left turns on a light y were horrifying yeah and the first time I pulled into a parking garage and
[19:25] like it's right-and Drive is a terrible car to have if you don't have friends right right you you need someone next to you the thing that always got to me was positioning the car in the lane so I would sit there and if you have a
[19:38] right-hand drive car but often are driving normal left-hand drive cars and to do it I've heard from people that if you only have a right-hand drive car it some of this stuff out that's true for my personal experience was when you
[19:53] first get in it the left side of the car seems enormous it's like why is there so much car to the left of and it's like this weird thing and then the more you drive it the smaller the left side of the car sorry and the right hand side
[20:07] seems particularly small you're like huh yeah you're like why is that I want that finger on that but that is exactly how I felt and still feel driving right-and drive cars why is all this over there there's so much to the left of me and
[20:20] and over time it becomes smaller like mentally I yeah that makes sense that too I've never driven a never been a right-and drive car in a left-and drive countries and for me it was I think it helped to had someone sitting in the
[20:33] smaller but there something about shifting gears with that hand was very actual objective benefit of left- hand drive is that you can shift with your right hand steering you're doing like arguably the most important thing is
[20:46] controlling this you know 3,000 pound thing with your dominant hand yeah unless uh this W Rex is at 7500 and bidding no res bidding is hot can I actually um Can somebody bid for me I would legitimately purchase this vehicle
[21:03] I know cuz the the well this is a g ma8 or this this is a gc8 I believe GC because it's the four-door Japan spec one uh these are getting really expensive here in the US now because so many of them have been crashed rallied
[21:18] yeah rusted out all the ones in Vermont are essentially just dust now yeah um modded heinously over years exactly some people bring some in and I'm just like this one this one has been modded but it's like clean clean it looks it looks
[21:32] the steering wheel personally but everything else um everything else looks why do the Japanese when the cars come here they make it here and they all have it doesn't matter how stock it is it has an aftermarket steering wheel and it is
[21:46] often something that you or I would never under any circumstances have put it like a wood wheel on a Skyline exactly yeah a nardy classic and R34 you're like what is this doing here what are they doing why did they do that I
[22:01] don't know but every import site you look at is like this that's such a funny thing I never thought about that but that's absolutely a thing maybe it's they're all so worn out and cigarette burned and everything that you know the
[22:13] just hey what do we got what we got yeah what the last a wooden steering wheel I like the cleanest cleanest ones always have some and they always have they
[22:25] always have that statement this drifting and it's underlined here really make sure you dri you're actually drifting oh one marker no we got four black stitching no course the purpose of those markers is so you
[22:39] got them at the bottom and top so your brain is just all over the place okay it's up to $8,400 we're going $100 increments here which is the way $100 increments here which is the way that Winners bid I um and I like the
[22:53] shot clock you guys have I've actually uh I've bid on a few cars on cars and bids but is the the shot clock that way new or no it goes well it depends what screen you're on but but typically it looks like this and yeah it goes like
[23:05] like I get so anxious when I watch even if it's not an auction I'm involved with when people get to the end and like bid at the very last second it's some risky describe him using a word I think I'm not allowed to say on the stream but
[23:18] not allowed to say on the stream but some people wait until zero right to bid minute regardless of whether you would at zero at 30 seconds they bid at zero wasn't fast enough and it's like it's
[23:31] it's my fault if you had bit at 4 seconds everything would be fine maybe 15 like let's not be crazy here but but they didn't okay we're still going at doesn't end at like 12K I I will be bummed that
[23:48] I'm not buying this thing because it's genuinely a good good purchase obviously everything but right although these cars are such Legos they are you could just like put whatever in them you can put easily a 2017 like specy engine in there
[24:04] there's so much expertise in them too that it's like not all that hard to like going up at 100 bit increments we'll come back to that one you want to go on come back to that one you want to go on to the 996 yes 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera
[24:18] 4 Cabriolet yes with a manual transmission a crazy world that a 911 and a WRX are somewhat similar uh 996s kind of had their moment when stuff got valuable and they've slowed down
[24:33] again 996s are still like viable cars for not crazy money I mean the 996 GT3 is in my experience like the first like obviously the first GT3 like super raw
[24:46] really nice but it was a 996 so people hated him for a while you could find him for like 65 those have gone way up in fact 996 gt3s are now more expensive than 997 gt3s which I think is the barain of the
[24:58] century by the way go buy 997 GT3 or don't yeah or don't save it for me I yeah don't don't buy any gt3s stop buying them tank the market I would like buying them tank the market I would like to enter uh the 991s the 991s are I mean
[25:12] for what kind of car you get for that 110 to $130 $40,000 God that's a good buy too there was some concern about engine problem the do ones are have become like kind of some engines blew up listen Okay a few engines blew up all
[25:28] right so what so what they they replaced them and then a few of those replacement engines also blew up but hey so some of these cars are on their third engine you know sounds like Ron's got some experience for that listen
[25:42] having owned a vehicles that just like to destroy themselves I don't even think about that never even cross my mind put a third engine in it so you need a new motor whatever how is this FD RX7 bit for reliability phenomenal it's it's got
[25:55] the most mileage I think driven out of every car in the fleet so far and if you them they they will take care of you yeah what is the secret to all it is don't knock pinging is what destroys those cars so when they came out
[26:11] everybody was like okay well I'm just going to take the formula of a chip uh an intake this that and the other but what they didn't realize is that the factory computer from Mazda was very very it didn't have a lot of latitude on
[26:25] what it could take more fuel less fuel so the second it would ping you lose an apex heal and you blow the engine right so all these guys were taking traditional tuning thought bringing it to the RX7 exploding them and it got
[26:37] this horrible rep right offex sales right okay but if you if you run it rich and you give it good Cooling and You' let it breathe it'll run forever how many miles you got on this thing uh this one is
[26:51] one is 65 66,000 yeah you don't respect these guys putting V8s in there or x7s you know I I don't have a major issue with that uh because you know I'm a firm believer of if you bought the car and
[27:04] you want to do to it what you want I may not like it personally but hey man I'm not out here trying to save and buy every RX7 in existence that does get a little Annoying does do what you want to do you know if it was like a super low
[27:18] mile beautiful cherry one and you put a v in I'd say why didn't you just buy a ratty one right you know but or a Japanese one which sell for a surprising amount discount yes like I you'd think that just flipping to right hand drive
[27:32] or at one point was desirable I mean you see the same thing in the markv Supra markv Supra it's crazy how Wild that price range is if you have a US speec six-speed original twin turbo $200,000 if you have that exact car but
[27:48] right hand drive right that exact car right hand drive 50% discount or l or know I have this thing about the markv Supra I've told this to Kon many times I Supra I've told this to Kon many times I really want a uh Na Auto and a baseball
[28:04] really want a uh Na Auto and a baseball hat to be clear here's why here's why there's a reason I cannot wait I can't wait to hear this here's why the stick could comfortably afford one you wouldn't want to drive it correct the na
[28:20] a 2JZ and you can like the price differential between an NA Auto and a turbo is so wild it's just it's insane it's got to be one of the largest price differentiat in the world for just a
[28:35] like as if they were completely different Vehicles right but I could drive around on an NA Auto markv Flex throw that wing on it Flex sure and then yes with my baseball cap whenever I park
[28:48] it put the baseball cap over the shift lever and people assume have you have you driven one have you driven na Auto one it's a little this would be a daily it would be a car I would take to the store I would drive it when I play mini
[29:00] golf with kenon okay when you beat Kenan at mini golf and you know what's got it's got room for my golf club I don't know one club in sing for me the sound is so important and when you see a Supra and you get so excited and then you hear
[29:15] it take off and it sounds like a rental vehicle there's just something that you lose when you see a markv when I see any markv these days I like lose it yeah yeah I would agree with that even an NA Auto yeah they it's a gorgeous vehicle
[29:31] it is it's so cool so Co and nobody's driving these cars anymore no I got a question for you do you lose it when you see a 1985 Maxima GL and medium metallic absolutely not this right here I have I do have something to say about these
[29:44] cars so I am a huge fan of Survivor cars I think seeing cars that were preserved for some unknown reason to me is very exciting because let's face it like pretty much every F40 has been preserved to some degree like most of them are
[29:56] condition but when you see something like this that some somebody took care of for some reason I think that's so cool cuz it's like the percentage of cars of the percentage of Maxima GLS that were cared for is like zero zero
[30:09] dude there's such a cool thing about that and I have a funny story there's a a car meet that happens in Long Beach and it's like really like rare cars and it's like really like rare cars there's a guy that built a BMW 2002 all
[30:22] carbon body he makes surfboards for a living and molded this carbon body the crazy you can imagine and all these kids are walking around and you know taking photos and kind of casually hanging out and a mint condition Rodeo Drives By
[30:37] yeah I'm saying like like this level of preservation look at that the crowd stops right and it doesn't matter what you bought what you built it could be you know a Carrera GT sorry the rodeo comes by and it's mint factory color
[30:53] polished perfect everybody's losing their mind yeah the other day you making footage of an exotic car showroom from like 93 but I don't think it's all that cars that are cool now or cool then the same condition now but but this pull up
[31:08] a picture of the side profile of this ridiculous three box sand look at ridiculous three box sand look at this there's a game here right showing this there's a game here right showing anybody under let's say is this what do
[31:21] you think this is just brand their answer will be a generic a car it is car yeah this is what a 10-year-old would draw look at that as vehicle the review on one of these a few years ago and um I it was just this nice and the
[31:38] it talks to you I don't know if this particular one does it but the one I drove it would say to you like you'd leave the door open the door is a jar drive away and it'd be like the seat your seat belt is unbuckled or something
[31:52] like that game changing yes why do modern Cars not talk to you I wonder huh but um and then these ridiculous overstuffed seats which are like I just love interior of this car is designed with a protractor it's just like all
[32:05] new that seats it would be better if they were just more comfortable there wasn't a consideration of like support and like no it wasn't ergonomic po stuffing tur turning was not ever considered right it
[32:20] was just can you put buttons go back to the the seat can you put buttons look at those buttons like your grandma so fun and then Grandma puts the plastic ruin them which is entirely possible that's how these were and by the way the
[32:34] color combination on this vehicle is is medium brown metallic over Brown yes and medium brown metallic over Brown yes and in 1985 that was an acceptable it was it was is there a photo of the gauge cluster anywhere in here because it's I
[32:49] think it's got one of my favorite things about the80s cars yeah look at that which was okay you know that got to have more cowbell skit yeah in the'80s it was got to have more grid yeah why is that why does it look like
[33:02] graph paper where did that come from right we need we need technology we need space we need we need that feeling throw a grid on it all right done it looks a grid on it all right done it looks like space in the'80s a grid looked like
[33:16] space no one knew why but it did that is so true what is the reason for that but $3,500 someone got a original I don't know if it's original pain doesn't look oh do you think it would have significant additional value
[33:30] if it was uh if it was do you think the patina would really help the Boost the 85 maximum I mean if we're talking about percentages significant if we're talking about dollar bills I think 500 more bucks by the way this EV WX is still
[33:44] going it's at 13,000 in $100 in whoever brought that over 12K it's now had 53 bids this is a mistake I think people make is that they go up by the minimum each time and the guy you're bidding against mentally is sitting there like
[33:58] 133 I could the next 131 I'll go up to 132 what's another 200 bucks that's a they should just throw a 14 knockout and show the dude they're serious and then they'll be like damn he's got coin I think consistent large bids like if you
[34:13] know I hit him with another thousand then the next bid you hit him with a just to and to get to your comfort level but like if you're just doing that you of course I'm saying this is the guy who runs this place give us more money give
[34:27] think if oh then I again as I say this it just sold for the 13,000 13 which is 20 minutes of their lives getting to the number that you said was going to sell for 10 minutes ago right right I mean I I do feel like I obviously drove up the
[34:44] uh the price of that thing for you so s seller you can get in touch with Ron cut him on in yes yeah please do it um I want to talk about this Evo which I guess these cars were handpicked for you the next one is a Jeep Grand Wagoner so
[34:56] admittedly have none I hope you have a lot of good going to the going to the lake and Vermont stories as a kid but we can talk Evo yeah Evo is it's fantastic I do wish that everybody resisted the urge to put canards on every single EVO
[35:11] to ever exist why the Evo specifically have canards is it easier to mount them or something I don't know it's big Canard is like oh evos are the ones if way it's these little things on the front bumper that presumably have
[35:26] aerodynamic impact on cars that are wind tunnel tested where the canards are actually like the gt3s 4.0 has them a few other new cars I'm sure it makes a really tell on this particular car they were slapped on in you know in Japan in
[35:41] 2004 and here's the thing even if so let's just say that these were wind tunnel tested like are you really trying to shave 3 hundredths of a second off
[35:53] obviously it's a look thing but think the look with that that the front of the car's look with that gigant the gigantic Factory I got to tell you though this the Evo beginning about the four and
[36:06] 789 but to to me the six was the Pinnacle I think the six is the coolest Pinnacle I think the six is the coolest car yes it it it looks absolutely insane it had all the evolved Bodywork from you know the rally car um funny enough I
[36:22] worked for Ken Block for a really long time and we were doing uh World Rally champion Championship stuff and our team principal Derek dony he was the team uh not team principal but he worked for Tommy mackin's team during his world
[36:36] Tommy mackin's team during his world championship years and the EVO 3 is his favorite because of you know historical reasons but he said the macin and Edition ones are some of the most gorgeous vehicles and just the coolest
[36:48] transfer of rally car homologation pieces to the actual Road car including have up that is straight off the Mitsubishi here in the states and every time I see one which is never anymore I would think
[37:03] to myself Evo yeah but it wasn't but it wasn't that makes sense that's the coolest things in the world could I own an EVO 6 or this EVO 4 and and not have it like be problematic very much so just just don't do anything to it that's
[37:17] what I would do nothing just leave it as is and genuinely the the 4G 63 it's an iron block engine it was designed in the mid 80s I want to say and just it it only evolved from there and uh this one looks actually great condition looks
[37:32] like an EVO 8 valve cover but I may be wrong this one's a little too modded for something that I would purchase cuz you see the second you see gold tape that man was serious about heat problems at some point yeah that's not
[37:48] to you know some good which I think is going to start happening like evos especially this era of Evo is like such a desirable car and so of them made it and and got and were cool and we're fine um that I have a suspicion people are
[38:01] going to start really preserving these the r34s are gone but Evo sixes are still affordable I should find myself a nice Evo I I just said to you I'm not round do you think it's because what did I say right afterwards I was like you're
[38:14] absolutely wrong his thing is he goes I'm in postcar and it's like and then he buys a Kos so you know the Kun seemed like a good idea I'm not saying it wasn't it it was a good idea however you know I got it from a guy named Captain
[38:28] Jim um I need to I got to know more about I guess he had a boat so they called him Captain Jim okay okay this Evo is coming down here to the wire at 135 crazy and and Ken and I were just
[38:42] talking about this right before we started like you said Evo 6 is the Pinnacle of Evo right when you think about Lancer Evolution that's the one this looks to have some more updated parts to it but the the four was it just
[38:57] started getting into that shape didn't have all the body bits and it's crazy how much that affects price yeah mechanically not that far off yeah there were there were minimal changes right very minimal changes this has the ayc
[39:10] the active yaw control it has the 5-speed it has the 4g63 that's that but that's so true it's also true the skylines frankly they all had the uh wasn't really all that different between change that much and but the R34 sell
[39:24] for 300 right and R3 you can still get for 40 yep it's funny watching that that point of which model year which you know version of a car jumps in value dramatically because I guarantee you an evo6 would not sell anywhere close to
[39:39] what this is are there left-hand Drive Evo sixes not to my knowledge oh so we'd Doug I'm telling you you could do it you could do it it's just time maybe kenon could Oh you mean s in rightand Drive California also makes everything hard it
[39:53] does California does make everything pretty tough yeah but it's worth it for an EVO you know actually a carb certified Evo would be pretty cool carb certified Evo would be legit you could do it you think yeah sure 4g63 was a
[40:06] I guess you just have to put the cash in the time I guess but they would do it up that done you could get that not me personally there's a man up there what's the shop called G&K I spoke to the guy there's a man up there he said for 10
[40:20] it done for you or 15 whatever I don't remember you quoted me I remember it okay I'm not doing that wow value of that would Skyrocket if that I think you'd get your 10 back for sure sell itely the California legal Evo 6 yeah I
[40:35] I I feel like this should end around 20 and even then even then I feel like it's a pretty good deal but I guess my litmus is thrown off because I'm still used to earlier this year and 2022 pricing which is really crazy and I don't know if I
[40:49] would say things are softening but certain cars aren't as crazy anymore that's exactly what it is certain cars have slowed certain other cars have not right um really Blue Chip stuff has kind of stayed I was hoping that market would
[41:03] all fall it hasn't fallen it probably will but it hasn't I think slowing and undervalued and like you're seeing it with Kos like I think Kos was undervalue going up I we really haven't seen much increase though over the last year six
[41:18] months to year yeah as far as like the outof control crazy pricing people still Prices but I think actual yes we were thinking is there an end to the e92 M3 thing Land Cruisers we when when we launched which was summer of 20
[41:33] on a Land Cruiser and not have it hit hit it out of the par it didn't matter what number you put on it it 80s and hundreds really were blowing up right then really um because they forever they had been $77,000 used cars and if that
[41:46] yeah yeah and so we started running a ton of ton of ton of them they were all selling they started selling for real money and now they're back not down to where they had been in 200 but like nowhere near where they were in
[41:58] 21 if you have a 60,000 Mund series you missed your right right to get 25 like those days sure but you'll still get probably 20 cuz I mean it's it's a desirable cars okay the Evo continues to
[42:12] Ron tell us about your Jeep Grand wagon ear stories this is a carburated car you know this was the last carburet car sold in America I think I've seen one you think you've seen one in person let me
[42:25] tell you something you don't forget if you've seen a Jeep Grand wagon ear no I think it's a it's a very very early memory but I honestly I don't have a ton of experience in these it was more International Scouts of that era that I
[42:37] had experienced in but that's the man of the people version if you you if you if you have a grand Wagoner story from your past you're like you're like a rich guy your dad was a doctor in kect oh yeah no no far from it I'm first generation
[42:51] American Ron was in Tennessee they had Scouts yes yeah yeah there was definitely Scouts and and Scouts were the the dudes that were doing well you know what did the dudes who weren't doing well drive oh any you know S10
[43:04] F-150 but like you know half the the wheel well on the bed is missing from rust already somehow right some guy in Ohio brought it down to Tennessee and then that's yeah that makes sense so but Grand wagoners weren't around they were
[43:17] uh but I was just not hanging out in those neighborhoods at the time yeah there cuz trust me in Nashville there were 100% neighborhoods where these were going but also I feel like this is a very East Coast Vermont like mountainous
[43:32] type of Colorado we want to take the you know it's a style thing for sure I'm sure absolutely I remember how we saw in nka but you they're around I love that um it has a three-speed Auto Chrysler was really dragged Kicking and Screaming
[43:45] transmissions you know they also had like a four-speed auto until like Auto until like I think it was the last car until like 99 or something abely embarrassing they were really really doing that three Auto I love these Grand
[44:01] was the last car that gave you the Driving Experience of a 50s car if you sit inside one it has a giant Hood it's got a big old carburet V8 it's got a giant Hood you're sitting in this overstuffed front bench seat which is
[44:14] embarrassing and you're looking out over this Hood which has a hood ornament for some reason imagine the jeep with a hood ornament but that was what they did and it was just it body rolled in turns and it was just the most magical plush you
[44:29] felt like people did in the 50s there was optimism was back in the world when was optimism was back in the world when you were driving Grand Doug I'm sold if I'm going to feel optimism being behind the wheel of one of these and you are
[44:41] three-speed automatic transmission three-speed automatic and it was a I think it was a 5.9 L carburated V8 that made surely something in the range of 146 horsepower probably what was the
[44:54] 146 horsepower probably what was the number 144 that's not bad 280 footb but through a you imagine how wait how many liters 4.9
[45:06] you imagine how wait how many liters 4.9 59 59 you have almost six lers worth of displacement making 140 yeah the and by the way that went on through 91 it wasn't like this was 77 oh my god did Chrysler just like
[45:20] has tried so many times not to innovate and then government regulations have you have to innovate what would Chrysler be making if the federal government didn't they'd
[45:33] be making cars with no airbags and still that's had a long run long run and yeah being kind of new but that's probably because they're still on dealership Lots which is crazy yeah and also if you got in one you wouldn't think it was kind no
[45:47] absolutely not no you get in that in turn it's like huh oh they didn't they turn it's like huh oh they didn't they changed the outside not so much in here right the backup camera quality is like you might as well just have a dude get
[45:59] you might as well just have a dude get out it's like it's like a 987 Series yeah yeah right it's like how can you get so blown out on this please turn the iso down we got two going live right now we got the Evo and the grand Wagoner are
[46:12] both going closing in Grand wagon up to 12250 I have no clue what these are worth although this particular one has 216,000 miles on it yeah see I thought I thought these were going for way more because at one point it was this like
[46:25] because at one point it was this like this wave of old wealth Nostalgia kind of being trendy and I was watching it a show recently I think it was billions or something like that and they go to this like campsite wherever and it's like you
[46:38] Wagoner out there that they're driving they are in fact kenon kenan's got it pulled up on his screen all the old we've sold some that 255 go go higher 27 some of the nice ones have sold for for for crazier 26 they've gotten bigger
[46:53] we have that's ending right now is the one everybody wants because kenon go to Interior the second interior photo yeah I know exactly what you're going to that overhead console was an addition in 88 and for some reason that particular
[47:09] thing is like makes the 88 to 91s like the one like oh do you have an overhead oh you don't oh now all it has in it is storage for your sunglasses and a compass right but okay so Doug you're telling me that is the flex that's the
[47:24] flex wag wag they brought it out of the minan which was which which had been this overhead console they decided to S Wagoner world that is the flex you know how in some cars you like look for the
[47:37] thing you get thing you drive around you go Direction so so that's like when you have a 400e versus a 500 E it's like that little bit more Fender that's it that's what you Flex on people for Grand wagon ear you flex your and and you pull
[47:53] up next to another one and you say what direction are wead and if the other guy doesn't know sucker and then you just you Flor in your three speed constantly be putting on and taking off your sunglasses next to other owners oh you
[48:07] keep your sunglass down there I'm so sorry I'm sorry that's exactly that's all it was wow I learned something brand new today the Evo continues to go the grand wagan I honestly wasn't expecting an education actually I was I I know I
[48:22] an education actually I was I I know I know you have such a an insane deep knowledge but Grand wagoners I would never yeah I don't know if I would pin there's all these Grand reers on the East Coast I've never really gotten into
[48:36] cool I mean look at it it's like a cool thing you can't say it's not like it's scares me they're all carburated and so that's always kind of scared me a little bit um but they are so and they're I suspect they're unsafe I mean by modern
[48:49] drive and I don't know maybe I should get into them let's get a grand have car carburated cars now you know you got one that's true the previous auction I grand wagon here and actually this is a great segue because the next auction is
[49:03] a z4m roadster which is a car that kenon desperately wants I yeah so I I love the z4m Roadster for for many reasons one it was only offered with manual transmission which is very important two it has the s54 from the E46 M3 probably
[49:18] BMW's best one they ever made especially for na cars you know it was because all you know six cylinders after that were turbocharged for the performance car so very many of these U production numbers are very low people don't realize that
[49:32] low because mostly because of when it came out it was really close to the recession right um and and these cars also weren't reviewed particularly well the rides were kind of crashy and these things but now when you evaluate these
[49:45] cars it's like cars have gotten really stiff now um and so I think it's a kind of different perspective but it also got upgrades from the E46 M3 CSL like the that yeah oh wow so these cars are like really but they don't usually sell for
[50:00] color combination and the mileage is relatively low um but these are offer a lot of car and the other thing I think like when you look at the side profile perspective like you're basically sitting on the rear axle you got a lot
[50:13] drive one of these you have this like it kind of pivots around your hips um and of people compare them directly to the boxer s of the time um because that was but these cars made significantly more power and they were tail happy like you
[50:29] had to be you had to be awake to drive so cool that you know there was an ERA make a really tail happy car I mean some cars still are you know like any Mustang and this one had is that a fox red interior yes it is also by the way did
[50:44] you catch that Kenan said that not only is it a manual but it was only offered with a manual that's the level of car that Kenan is on Kennon won't even accept a manual version of a car right right that was offered with an automatic
[50:57] came in an auto what it was what it was that ear other people got Autos I would talking about where like it was just expected like of course the sports car this isn't the car for you right driver z a car won and that was the end of that
[51:12] z a car won and that was the end of that BW hasn't done a uh M since then Z4 the last one and they haven't done a stick no they did on the next gen do a stick no they didn't they haven't done a stick C4 since then well I'm not exactly
[51:25] sure on that to be honest with you but to the to their point you know first one sell it great it's probably a good move that that they are you sure I think I'm I really
[51:37] like the uh the hatchback version of that too that's the coupe is spectacular when they took it racing they didn't have to strengthen the chassis at all they added no additional chassis Str it was sff stiff stiff loaded up oh I I
[51:51] some point but the what the suspension travel is was kind of limited okay so like they you hit a manhole cover and it hits the bump stops like stock that's how stiff so I'm not mad at that cuz like you you you get into that car
[52:05] expecting that I I don't buy a vehicle like that expecting like well it's going to be great in the in the canyons but I needed to ride like a grand wag just exact same thought it's like this is rough but you passed up a lot of cars to
[52:19] like you thought you were getting into it's and but it's it's a special and cool car one at some stage and I'll do the full
[52:31] CSL intake cuz my a friend of in Boston did this with his car he's a Sepang C really cool and he did that and it it truly sounds like half a mclear f one the finest I've oh it's fantastic so good it's that that carbon box alone I
[52:45] had a e92 M3 at one point and the only mod I did was a carbon airbox just because that intake sound intake sound is so underrated underrated no I'm a huge proponent I'm I'm a worship of the altar of induction cuz you get to enjoy
[53:00] exhaust it's like and especially on that car gets Buzzy yes e92 easy to make sound great cuz you know V8 sounds awesome but you the induction noise it's such has individual throttle bodies baby oh my God that's like Ken's other thing
[53:15] yeah to you it turns out have I like throttle Precision you're over here not you know not giving you know not caring but like I I think I like my I'm really there just for the noise man no it's I I like mostly turbo cars that's that's
[53:27] really where my my love of vehicles lies but the first ITB car I ever drove I was like whoa oh hold on I got to change everything about what I'm doing with my right foot here sharp so we'll move on to the next car the grand Wagoner is
[53:40] still chugging along um so oh well maybe not we'll see is it CL 16250 is this the not we'll see is it CL 16250 is this the end boom Soul 16 250 16 250 I have idea
[53:53] good or bad was good that person will know which direction I made a noise but idea if that's good or bad but it is a cool car it is and it passed California smog which honestly is 80% of what you're looking for yeah yeah easily 80%
[54:08] for a carburated vehicle moving on to the next car so fat 500 a bar Fiat 500 a bar one of the great cars for the money that exists yeah no question and one of the best sounds for this is look at this car this is a one-owner car with 28,000
[54:24] mil and it's 11 Grand this is one of the most fun things you can have it's like the it's 10 years old but it's nice it's a one-owner low mileage car and it's just like damn why do we not all driving Fiat 500 aarts great gas mileage great
[54:37] Fiat 500 aarts great gas mileage great handling sounds like a a group a rally you're like looking around you're looking right at it you're like what is making that noise right it's like ridiculous sound everything about this
[54:50] car is so cool also I love minis I truly do people have kind of abandoned minis but I like like still think they're fun to drive at but this car was just like to drive at but this car was just like the next level of like like bad boy like
[55:02] too rough and it was too loud and it was just like mean and Ang graphics on the side yeah well and and speaking of the graphics this has the quintessential Italian tuning house uh thing that they do which is Chuck that badge anywhere
[55:17] you can look at that right behind the door handle a Barth badge on the door a Barth badge on the Wheel on the front somewhere anywhere they can get a little somewhere anywhere they can get a little credit yes it's it's them and well I
[55:32] mean it's all stantis but uh it's them and Dodge the ram ram you there's zero mistaking that you're driving a ram behind the wheel underneath in the proliferated in recent years every time I review an older car I reviewed that
[55:47] Subaru XT the other day which is like a mid 80s and there's no badging right door SS the seats it just you just had that was the end of it right but now it's like boy where else yeah there yeah
[56:03] knob yet all right let's do it again but the funny thing is about the Subaru is uh I don't know if Subaru was just not that proud of being Subaru at the time because it had everything else had XT Turbo Air Conditioning power windows
[56:18] like those were Graphics that were everywhere I loved 8s Badges of stuff everywhere I loved 8s Badges of stuff that was just features abs ABS Channel ABS right four Channel ABS was like a thing and it was like nobody knows what
[56:31] ones who still do that the Koreans the Kia Telluride has a badge on the back that says H track I do not know what that is and neither does anyone who that is and neither does anyone who drives that so why do they waste why do
[56:45] they waste the badge uh it's like those big tour buses in Europe I don't know if anybody's seen this or this is just a me thing but they have like all the little squares of like this one has air conditioning it has 16
[56:59] seats it has air brakes and it has all these little Badges and like TVs Smart TVs they have that like Wi-Fi capable you know blah blah blah and like all these things like to try to advertise to people like this yeah take this most I
[57:13] think this is this Abarth is closing at 113 this is the greatest is there a better way to spend 11,300 I'm serious that's a seriously excellent car it is relatively reliable I know it's a stantis product Etc but like it's only a
[57:27] 10y old car with 20,000 Mi like this is this is 20,000 mil 28 all right whoever got this that's an absolute steal I know I wouldn't buy it personally but that is an absolute Ste you just beat the crap out of that car and in 5 years you can
[57:40] sell it for 112 yeah right okay we got to talk about excited about these last three cars today I'm yes very much so this is an today I'm yes very much so this is an import Land Cruiser I I was uh shopping
[57:54] these very recently and this one once again we went through the whole thing about for some reason the 100 series you know we we witnessed the bottom of its depreciation curve very recently yeah but these come with this one in
[58:08] particular the best Toyota diesel motor one of the best it's a I think it's a 1 HDT um it'll run forever it makes great power it's decently efficient you could tow with this thing uh the UN used this thing like it's yeah they say if you
[58:24] Rover if you want to get back out get a Toyota actually I have a I have a story about that so I I was in southern Africa in a 70 series Land Cruisers driving around one one of my favorite trucks I'll have one stage and um we were we
[58:38] going to see the animals go out at dusk and we were coming back and all of a sudden like truck started stuttering a little bit and we're like and then it know got up running then same thing before a little and then died again and
[58:51] so we're sitting there it's getting dark you know the lions are going out for the what we we're like just sitting there just like you know starting to sweat a eventually just would not start we're like we're stranded out here like we
[59:04] a road and then all of a sudden we saw was assumed it was going to be another Land Cruiser Defender and a Defender pulled us back to the camp that the only time in history that a land Defender has
[59:19] saved a Toyota Land Cru honestly I I I Adore that stuff for Land Rover owner what are the odds how bizarre that's you're like how fuel thing you know basically you know we we hit it with a hammer and fine the
[59:33] it out and get the fueld but yeah that was uh but this thing h i yeah the thing that's cool these hundreds came out in 98 so they are now 25 years old it hit me I was driving my I have a 2013 Land Cruiser I was on the New Jersey Turnpike
[59:48] Cruiser I was on the New Jersey Turnpike and um I came up next to a all-white un looking like no tent steel wheels you know with the doors in the back tire on this doing here and then I was like oh wow these are legal that's right and
[1:00:02] people are bringing them in and this is a 98 import from Japan and you're right a 98 import from Japan and you're right the 1hd um the turbo 1hd the uh and it's got the cool like their barn doors this one doesn't have it but some of them do
[1:00:16] fantastic this one what excites me about this one other than the look at that this one other than the look at that interior I mean let's talk about beon interior I mean let's talk about beon Brown um jokes aside the so many of
[1:00:29] these that you see coming in the first thing you do is you open the door because 90% of the time they're repaints and you'll get some crazy cool color on the door jam it's got a different color because that's just the business you
[1:00:43] know you take these things spray a bunch of tar underneath hide all the rust repaint the outside to some cool color like modern TRD color and then call it a day this one looks a really good condition looks like like it hasn't seen
[1:00:55] a desert in its whole life yeah and it's all one color yeah and you know they're coming also from the Middle East we had we've hosted one or two dubby spec hundreds um what the benefit is their left-hand Drive the drawback is they
[1:01:08] were you've seen the videos yes uh it spent a lot of the miles on two wheels because because it has a locking diff so we actually filmed a jimana video in Dubai so of course one of the
[1:01:22] tricks that we had to have was a vehicle on two wheels and Ken going around it sense but when we were practicing they love doing it in G wagons because G wagons have triple locking and I was like why does that really matter when
[1:01:37] get it up there and you can't go on power at all because the outside wheel just spin so you have to have locking dips so if you want to go on two wheels get this car right here Japanese Market 100 series yes yeah that it's
[1:01:51] interesting and the Japanese Market one uh any left left hand drive 100 series I could be wrong but I think all left-and Drive ones came with the previous generation 1 HD diesel engine this is the updated 1 HD yeah yeah I mean this
[1:02:06] is clearly the one to have it's so good 263 the the value reflects that I guess I didn't really realize so we were just talking about how Japanese versions of obviously not going to be the case it's the opposite with these because we never
[1:02:19] got the diesel here so I think people kind of look past the right hand drive said that motor is is legendary I wouldn't be surprised if this hit 30 26550 we just got another bid yeah that doesn't really Sur 98,000 miles pretty
[1:02:33] low it's such a cool car they're just so yeah comprehensively excellent yeah there really isn't and it's got It's got the uh the extra aftermarket third mirror on the on the which you know you need in Tokyo you really kind of do need
[1:02:47] think the only reason it never caught on anywhere else is because it's heinous but like at some point you just have to prioritize practicality stands up yeah the the the weather seal to mirror ratio is horrible when you drive
[1:03:02] a car though with that mirror you start thinking damn I wish I had this on every actually kind of a nice thing to be able to see exactly where that corner is it's convenient until you exit the vehicle and you look at it you're like oh God
[1:03:15] that's me right this car is also uh excellently um modified like it's got a nice these wheels are cool the wheels are great yeah they're they're very utilitarian looking you see a lot of these coming out with these like these
[1:03:31] these body kits That Make it try and look G wagon is Right which is like the last time I was in Tokyo the there were so many G wagons everywhere yeah and you were saying that's like the ultimate Flex because it's big horrible on gas
[1:03:44] so that you have a ton of these that have a g wagon looking kit chrome wheels have a g wagon looking kit chrome wheels it's just like ah stop stop body work at but in Japan it's like yeah well it's a land just another land Cru what what old
[1:03:59] you seen the hundreds and 80 series that have the body kits to make them look like 60 series yes that's so bad pull this up I think we've sold we've sold one haven't we oh man we sold some if
[1:04:11] you're not going to change the shape of the fenders and that's one of the main things that makes that car beautiful right wow you guys have moved through cruises this this you just typed in L you just typed in 100 series how many
[1:04:24] what's the number 100 100 series no no go back 100 series we've sold 2166 auctions of series I'm telling you in 2021 it was just like any 100 series
[1:04:38] like a strong everybody wanted them how many toal 450 L look at that great prao over there in the corner for 10 grand turbo diesel four-wheel drive look at turbo diesel four-wheel drive look at that H yeah that's a although those are
[1:04:53] they r ride horrible on the road there's so like leaf spring in the back I think so like leaf spring in the back I think leaf spring front too um super super at that but it was cool and it was just
[1:05:05] 70 series that is an amazingly cool vehicle but like it's funny cuz it's you know touted as an Overland vehicle but overlanding in the US and overlanding in Africa very different very different thing it was
[1:05:21] like I don't have I'm not as interested in doing it in the US because like I'm not gonna see rhinos out there well yeah I didn't you need to see rhinos to enjoy yourself well yeah it was part of the experience you see an elephant like you
[1:05:34] know shifting gears in my you get out there with a nice vehicle on a nice night he does this he did this in his disco I did yeah and then I would go to a campsite and there's 740 uh TRD Pro 4Runners yep with every in Utah oh yeah
[1:05:49] every roof rack accessory that you can imagine a sand trap that's never been imagine a sand trap that's never been used about 40 empty Roto packs uh a shovel an axe all the devices you need to break into it right and some sort of
[1:06:02] to already themed vanity plate right yeah and my favorite thing about not to get too off topic but you would do that but then without fail you would get to like some crazy the top of some crazy Trail and there was always without fail
[1:06:14] Trail and there was always without fail a dude in like a 94 Corsica and like a sixpack of Bud and a fishing rod and he's like what's this overlanding thing he's like everybody else is like got a spotter out
[1:06:26] guy's been doing the same Trail it's so true I still remember that video that service to that dude in like a Crown Vic in Moab like yeah yes yeah that was that vehicle to get out into the Wilderness but damn wouldn't it be feels right
[1:06:41] realize how special this kind of thing is we'll Circle back to the we'll Circle back to it but I do want to cover it the GT4 this is the coolest car in the world for the money it is the best driving sports car car I I I have told many
[1:06:56] I didn't have such a big ego and need to buy these supercars to make myself look cool I would just get a GT4 and end it right there because they have 97% of the experience for 10% of the of the money Doug I just have to say you strike me as
[1:07:11] one of the uh less ego having people in this you say that but then I drive everybody like are you looking at me like it's like a cuz you can and you like it because it's the carburated version it has These Wings and
[1:07:24] because you just want to be looked at I think in order to have a Countach you you have to really be like a committed dedicated crazy person but I do think that there's something to be said about this GT4 like for what it offers this is
[1:07:38] the coolest thing in the now this dude is selling this car no Reserve which is as always it's getting to the right as always it's getting to the right value Mak manual Bri color it's got some
[1:07:50] great options I mean you can sell no Reserve when you have the right car and it I know what I'm going to get you just have that confidence I mean it's a great spec like you said good color combo the market is so known on these cars it's
[1:08:04] it's pretty definite so but I respect him for going no Reserve I'm big him for registering in Maine driving around in GT4 on Main plates in La this dude's like yep I'm gonna live it up I mean you know it could be Montana I
[1:08:20] it honestly part of me feels like Maine is more low-key than Montana Mont thing is like everybody's getting popular yeah and and come on um God this car is so cool it really is everybody I know that's driven one of these is like wow
[1:08:33] yeah I wish I had a GT4 too they're just so good the boxer version is amazing too especially here in SoCal yeah boxer spider's great but this car is so good H
[1:08:45] funny I have a buddy who's got it like a 16 whatever the year they came first came out mhm as 981s and he asked me what it was worth the other day and I looked and it's still still worth a sticker wow I there there's such a a
[1:08:57] business on that of you know you get a car from a dealership because you have a relationship with them or anything and then you sell it for above sticker on 911s but GT4 yeah I mean they didn't make too many of these they didn't make
[1:09:10] wants them demand will always be high if they got 7 if they became 70 we'd all jump in so like that's never going to happen etc etc it kind of evens itself out yeah it does man Land Cruisers still going and the GT4 is still going we need
[1:09:25] to start talking about trck yes we're going to jump we'll come back to those too if you had any quals as to whether this curation was built exactly for me the coolest cars we've hosted in a long time first off two Jay-Z's are so cool
[1:09:40] and like throw people throw that weird stuff yeah and I love it we had a 2JZ swwa BRZ which was you know like a feels right there a lot of motor for that car right there a lot of motor for that car but this tell us about the truck okay so
[1:09:54] vehicles and everything and at the time you know we had moved into our Compton location and we wanted a parts runner truck and obviously we all grew up on truck and obviously we all grew up on Fast and the Furious so the truck the
[1:10:07] Ford Lightning the red Ford Lightning in that movie has maybe 10 seconds 35 seconds of screen time but to us nerds it was like oh man Brian shop truck
[1:10:19] lightning so cool so this was our vision of what it would look like if Brian from Fast and the Furious took ownership of that shop truck what would he do to it he would throw a super motor into it and so we did this thing uh in partnership
[1:10:34] with the purist group and Paul Walker's brother Cody Walker we launched it at fuel Fest that year and this started Life as a junkyard Basket Case V6 F-150
[1:10:46] frontend Collision like terrible terrible and we got that for two reasons one it was manual which just makes your life easier on the swap oh is it was a stick originally okay two rule of YouTube you need a transformative build
[1:11:00] right like can't just buy a F-150 right like oh we bought we found a nice condition F-150 and we swapped it made are we ever going to be able to do this big problem with front end you know like right we'll never sell it you know
[1:11:16] stuff like that so you need a transformative build we we transformed the front end we dropped it we put the engine in got the engine from JDM of California who's our go-to for for 2JZ swaps it's actually a 2J out of an
[1:11:29] swaps it's actually a 2J out of an Aristo which is um the the Lexus yeah the GS300 GS300 thank you uh which are great because those are usually backed haven't been drifted that much they haven't been you know gone over so it
[1:11:44] was a great this 2J was not a turbo motor it was oh it was yeah the Aristo turbo as well the Aristo turbo it it it it did come to us as a GT it and do some crazy stuff the intake manifold was from a friend of ours uh a
[1:11:59] drift car so it has a lot of period correct like greddy Parts on there correct like greddy Parts on there Custom Air oil separator uh the red part uh that was that was later I think uh whatever owner afterwards did that but
[1:12:11] this thing put out 640 plus horsepower to the wheel to the wheel um it is to the wheel to the wheel um it is absolutely unhinged to drive no traction what everybody's looking for from their
[1:12:26] F150 like a slammed F-150 but once again going back to the whole like how much does speed really matter you kind of want that in a truck like this you know any of the first three gears if it was just normal fast that wouldn't be enough
[1:12:40] yeah yeah and in our shop this would throw people off so bad because you hear that signature 2JZ the you know like all the noises and then you see a red F-150 pass by you're like what that would be amazing oh and that that alone is worth
[1:12:57] buying this truck for and uh I think yeah we we sold it on our oh not the name a competitor we sold it on our some other to discuss other platforms or not we shouldn't we shouldn't cuz this is the
[1:13:11] shouldn't we shouldn't cuz this is the platform to sell your used vehicle cars platform to sell your used vehicle cars and bids uh originally it was on a MAG blue te37 I don't know if these are painted or if they're a completely
[1:13:23] different wheel but we went magnesium blue because your brain is like wow blue and red that's a horrible color combo but in that time in the 2000s the mag blue t37 that was the sickest version you could get so we slapped that on
[1:13:38] there um it's got a handbrake because every F-150 needs a hydraulic handbrake every F-150 needs a hydraulic handbrake uh like a giant go to the at this there you go staging button on the top of it you know ridiculous yeah man what would
[1:13:52] be cool is to put it put the exterior back to as close to stock as you could you mean like taking off the graphics and everything yeah the kit the kit the front bumper is a a replica but a Ford Lightning front bumper and I believe the
[1:14:08] skirt and everything too so was this truck this truck was a factory short bed flare side etc etc yep yep but not a lightning originally because it was a stick Furthest Thing from a lightning that you could imagine stock 700,000 M
[1:14:21] V6 bid it wasn't that many going down the bid bar is going it's going it's going someid somebody bid please please bid I've seen 32 one checking checking
[1:14:33] Hey listen you know 26 it's a I think it's a respectable price not enough to sell it oh no Reserve I mean um didn't hit Reserve out a reserve we'll see yeah all right did climate control work when you when you built it no
[1:14:51] over so no absolutely nothing resembling climate control there's no way when I'm going to pull back the curtain a little bit when you're building cars for YouTube everything is about Visual
[1:15:05] and story it's not about actually I've always wanted to own a concept car oh wow but you do not want to own a concept car because they got it working for that auto show that day W not for you to drive you just gave
[1:15:19] me a revelation YouTube builds are concept cars yeah the AC is not going to work it's going to handle horribly probably um it has all these reliability issues so the the owner that bought it from us actually did updates to the
[1:15:32] suspension on that truck uh I think they they cleaned up a couple things and made it a lot more livable cuz when we sold it it wasn't it was great for Instagram and YouTube it was great for that that makes
[1:15:46] is one of the reasons I've shot away from getting like a built car because like I there I would love a 2JZ swap that sounds so cool so but then like the reality of these builds is always I drove not that long ago a Terminator
[1:15:59] Cobra swapped Lincoln Town Car and it was perfect that's and that and we actually sold it on the site we it got great money and that that was like finally it was the guy just did the build so well pull up town car I can't
[1:16:14] imagine there's going to be a lot of he types in Lincoln town jokes on look how many Town Cars you sold 19373 that one there left there you go oh going up there you go click on it he's dancing he's just going to dance around
[1:16:29] he's just going to dance around it St looking directly at it I I have my it St looking directly at it I I have my eyes exactly on
[1:16:41] don't know I remember in the video being a different color I thought it was always got hood vents he had to do a couple exterior mods that he didn't want to do because it needed a little bit more more cooling so he had to put in
[1:16:54] hood vents and it needed the wheels cuz he needed brakes right um if you see that much tire and that kind of Tire on any kind of linoln product something has happened something happen something different is going on man that okay how
[1:17:08] cool we have to now take audience questions or or comments we didn't do love audience questions it's my favorite thing in the whole world but we didn't so now we have to do it we'll do I don't know 10 12
[1:17:21] 14 is that our right yeah just kind of go down the list okay so he says he's saying pick the good ones I don't know what's we're we're getting orders from the good ones live from the filter so let's just start at the top instead of
[1:17:36] trying to pick the good ones you would think that the production staff would didn't so we're we're going to read the question and somehow pick the good ones watching us do this okay I'm going to start with I'm going to start with this
[1:17:49] question hi Doug what's the best SUV the Chevy Equinox or the Genesis GVC 70 Chevy Equinox or the Genesis GVC 70 interesting I I wouldn't say either of those yeah I love that that's your two
[1:18:04] choices for best SUV if I had to pick between the $22,000 Chevy Equinox and the $46,000 Genesis I I would pick the Genesis absolutely but I wouldn't compare them necessarily because they're not in the same size class price class
[1:18:20] or anything else I wonder what his use case is like the if if decision between General Motors employee so he gets a discount or he can buy a gv70 right the
[1:18:33] answer to the question what's the best SUV is of course the Bentley he didn't put a price range in there that's right so that's right well can we
[1:18:48] get can we get a Ron focused uh Japanese modded car question please ooh how modded car question please ooh how about oh here we go 50k budget one do about oh here we go 50k budget one do all c new integ type S 997 m240i or two
[1:19:02] cars so 50 grand for a Do-it all car or do you take the 50 and get two get two do you take the 50 and get two get two good question well I feel like us as a group here could agree more cars more better so obviously the two-car solution
[1:19:17] that when you're trying to get one car to do it all unless you are hamstring by having one parking space or unless you're one car is E39 M5 as Kennon is you end up with not the best of everything the worst of each world yeah
[1:19:32] but for 50 Grand you could get an E39 M5 and then you could get some other stuff too that's right nice you could you know that I will give an exception to the E39 M5 9 unless somewhere it snows to be clear like I did drive mine in the
[1:19:45] winter and it was not the best what did 997s cost that's a pretty good uh 997s the last I looked for like a a C2 were like 30 like 30 35 yeah I wonder if um or Cayman is one
[1:19:57] of the ones you suggested I mean a 987 Cayman would be pretty good I just feel I I don't know much about the Cayman but do you get more storage space and more the same because the Cayman gives you front and rear storage whereas the 911
[1:20:10] you only have storage up front um well don't click on an 09 those are the post facelift cars well even i05 o look at that wait go back go to that blue one that was bid to 255 that's the one I want looks like a tip go down yep tip
[1:20:24] tip scroll scroll go back to that I want to see how many miles on looks like blue on blue tip 682 keep scrolling this is a blue on blue tip go go go further down no accidents Blue on Blue tip oh it's no accidents yep and
[1:20:38] pretty unmodified there 25 grand for a tip 997 and a baseball C that car uh tip 997 and a baseball C that car uh inic in my opinion ruined well you know even a 25 yeah that being said like if you're really trying to be unhinged get
[1:20:52] the auto automatic Tiptronic career for 25 and then just spend 10 or whatever you have the other 25 you have left St unhinged Vehicles can I tell you that 997 Turbo that I wanted to buy and still regret that blue one you know the
[1:21:06] one I'm talking about right that crazy build tip that one that one okay this car comes across you want to oh it was it was a thing disc I almost did buy this car comes
[1:21:20] across okay and look at it all right you see it disaster this isn't even the looking at it you're like this is heinous go to the interior boom
[1:21:35] boom okay for why are the seats the same like kind of tautness and pile of the Maxima from earlier what happened like what kind of somebody because they took to a wheel upholster he was like I'm not
[1:21:49] somebody okay so go back to the to the oct this car comes up a a 997 Turbo with a stick a good one is still a $100,000 car this comes in and you can see it
[1:22:01] sold for 51 I see the light I'm thinking to myself okay you buy this for 51 you got to spend 10 grand making it not look like this sure all all on interior by the way cuz outside is literally just
[1:22:13] paint the wheels remove the stickers they o wheels oh and by the way this car and so it made it even less likely that someone was going to buy it like it was going to be a shipping for anybody right imagine that rolling around in Nebraska
[1:22:26] thing in that so I was thinking to myself sick for then you then you Safari build this because no one Safari builds 997 turbos they all do like regular 997s
[1:22:38] that have been hit because they're cheap but this was the chance to do a safari build Doug I'm I'm very impressed you you have that part of your mind that that we just think like we're our Niche that just think of dumb things like that
[1:22:51] that happen with you wouldn't that be cool that Co that would be amazing it then sold for too much I think to Safari build on the C like someone bought this for like 58 they're going to have like a it's blue it was Blue from the factory
[1:23:05] which is rare on these things right but lots of lots of color delete but okay let's go back to audience questions questions we didn't really answer this one for 50 oh uh you guys oh somebody paid
[1:23:18] $4.99 diamond diamond gal W okay you can you can answer this one what do you got you can answer this one what do you got pick a car either a Mustang GT or a 400z uh 400z oh wow I I don't know that much about him but I really okay one thing
[1:23:32] about the 400z that I absolutely adore the rear taill light section reminds me of a 300ZX and that alone yep is worth that's why they did it it's so cool I absolutely love that and you still get the 370Z chassis that's under there
[1:23:46] great chassis in my opinion yeah it is and uh yeah the it's weird because no algia like ' 80s 9s Nostalgia starting to trickle into modern cars like that Z3 design yep the super badge that they went back and used the font from the mar
[1:24:00] I thought that was a great move the new Mustang has you can change the digital gauge cluster to look like the fox body cluster right right it's like wow okay and and I do like Fords I I think Fords are cool but just something about a
[1:24:12] are cool but just something about a Mustang driving one says I am a Mustang owner like a 400z is like oh yeah he's he's a car dude but a Mustang is like you're not a car dude you're a Mustang a Mustang dude yeah uh okay casy
[1:24:27] 2037 asks the following question I picked up a 2001 Audi A4 Avant 5-speed in the process of restoring it with period correct mods do you think these will this be shortlived hard to know 01 is the best year was the final year for
[1:24:42] the B5 uh and stick Red Wagon is the most special one um hard to imagine that like shoot up or anything like that but those are that was kind of a special car and you know anything that survives will become valuable as life goes on so
[1:24:58] anything that anybody takes care of Will Survive will will become continue to become valuable the b5s all had problems with their automatics the tip would all will be the only ones left and so that's that I I don't know those are cool I
[1:25:11] they're cool I think they hit a really low price point for a really long time and what I'm seeing is a little bit before like a couple years ago I would value but then I've been watching this thing with Mercedes now where you have
[1:25:25] these ' 80s 90s Mercedes cars that were so cheap so unbelievably cheap for so long and now they're starting to have their moment I never thought it would happen like a 190e you could pick up a 190e for so cheap so few of them
[1:25:38] survived nice that the nice ones that are left we sold some 190s for real money that were in good shape in w126s classes the 80s S-Class which were you could buy those on Craigs us for four because they were everywhere those nice
[1:25:53] they jumped up too and they're they're starting to have that momentum so it's starting to have that momentum so it's not just BMW sorry that's like the cool apples and oranges on that but you know the the A4 the B5 like they were never
[1:26:08] on my radar unless it's like you know S4 Avant something like that but I could see those going up yeah so afraid of like the S4 as a lot of people are like I think the S4's had issu the a4s had issues it's like just be careful with
[1:26:23] your mods you know make them tasteful don't go overboard with it like I think like any value like especially if you're restoring it like right you know are we're starting to see that the cars that are that are the most the stock as they
[1:26:38] most Val which we're seeing with Supras we're seeing we were talking about evos can do some stuff this car I think to make it cool just just use some restraint you know that's the only thing I would say Doug have you ever been P
[1:26:51] been pulled over during a viw and if so in what car no although I am constantly approached by security guards telling me to leave it's actually funny I I have this channel I get almost two billion views
[1:27:06] and but I film and like church parking lots where I can find them right and so like some security guard come up what are you doing like I'm like some kid you video and he'll be like you got to get out of here and I want to be like you
[1:27:18] don't I'm like this is real I'm not like just but all I'll don't you know who I am I want I want to say that be like sometimes they do I've had people recognize me be like
[1:27:31] you're so cool can we get a selfie and then other times it's like get the hell had an experience like that I was filming it was the uh the uh the Julia were filming at a church parking lot and some guy like uh security came over and
[1:27:46] they were super sweet they were really nice and they're like oh cuz they engine of I was like no no no that is just deep kenon yep but I filmed it it another spot that was perfect and I actually sent them like a thank you like
[1:28:01] with like stuff but yeah K kenon this is the thing Kenan is like this very lovely person yeah he strikes me as a lovely person thank you guys I very much appreciate that the loveliest 355 owner oh no wait you sold it yep former
[1:28:16] owner oh no wait you sold it yep former 355 former 355 a very happy X 355 owner questions from October the 4th that was the last one we did um so so Doug there's there's one for you so um from uh first Flat 6 why not a Diablo over
[1:28:31] the kunos that seems to be more in line with what you admired uh just due to with what you admired uh just due to your age yeah no the the Diablo is cool um but I really wanted an se30 Diablo and
[1:28:43] they're just too much money so much money um and the count I think is just like frankly I think the count is the one that's the more undervalued and to issues with his Diablo here's the thing about
[1:28:55] about Lamborghini okay fucho sold Lamborghini and during various periods it was then owned by various different people when I a Swiss guy a man like a dude bought Lamborghini not a Lamborghini but like
[1:29:07] the company a man bought and so when the Diablo was being built it was owned by an Indonesian company called megatech and then also Chrysler and making sure it was like they were putting out actually decent automob
[1:29:22] interior there may have been when someone sent me an old video from the and there's like Chrysler minan running around as like shuttle Vehicles yeah yeah it was like the Viper right like you go inside a Viper first gen and
[1:29:36] you're like that's from a caravan oh yeah this this turn stock or this AC everything was just crap that they wild wild yeah um I think the the thing with the Countach over the Diablo I is like as as much as I love the Diablo I drove
[1:29:51] one recently and it it was really cool the kunas is just such a deep icon the it is and I'm not saying the Diablo's you everybody knows it's a Lamborghini actually considered there was a Diablo that I did consider over the summer when
[1:30:07] I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I just hit me like it's just not the you're going to put up with a compromis way you might as well go with like the a a significant number of people I was going to say I would go by poster sales
[1:30:23] posters than the Diablo did that's right more from today okay Pike Factory do you know the pike cars the Nissan Pike cars the S cargo the
[1:30:36] figuro um not I'm not we'll skip they're off my radar uh what else can we what else we got are you selling from my M yes yes deeply um oh man Eric 5 the 2000 to 2007
[1:30:54] Eric 5 says Doug how do you feel about the 2000 to 2007 front-wheel drive Chevy Monty Carlo if you want to talk about optimism this guy the last full-size American Coupe like that is a statement I will say they look like a NASCAR it's
[1:31:10] the closest a a street car especially if that era it looks like a NASCAR shaped thing and then you get inside of it and it's like right but but I don't know I I
[1:31:22] honestly I want to see one dumped on some good wheels or on NASCAR wheel you know they did a version that was like the Dale nhart Intimidator version not think any of these from by the way I actually kind of like this car has yes
[1:31:36] that wow you pulled up I remember I edited this one sell for what did this sell for I can't 9,400 so this is the best one that'll ever exist it was an SS Supercharged SS which was the blown V6 19,000 it has these gra I mean this was
[1:31:50] still is only 9400 bucks which kind of gives you an idea of where the future value of these cars is going to go ah I I don't know I it may it may be the of way about that thing into this I amous to admit I
[1:32:06] actually I didn't hate it um but it's not going to increase in value I think it will be one of those things where it you know some of them are preserved with crazy little mileage and like unmodified
[1:32:19] but when you even look at the good mon Carlos from the 80s that had a V8 and the square body and even they aren't really kenon go to the interior pick of the uh the uh the signature oh look at that you got Dale's was it a Dale junor
[1:32:32] it wasn't even real Dale junor drove the G the cluster J drove got it wow the nice touch number how many cars have a signature on the cluster that's not a
[1:32:45] Enzo didn't have that I don't that was worth the 9,400 right there how easily will semi I keep up with inflation inflation yeah you buy it and instead of put your money in a 04 Monte Carlos supercharge SS the the low yield Savings
[1:33:00] of cars all right well with that Ron thank you for coming and joining us and giving us backstory on that wonderful truck coming and talking cars with us yeah thanks for having me in your uh your
[1:33:13] cookie yet but that'll be off camera no one's trying to watch me eat we'll send a different Channel bye everyone bye every
