Free GTA 5 Current-Gen Upgrades from PS4 and Xbox One - IGN Daily Fix

[00:04] upgrade for PS5 [music] and Xbox Series

[00:05] and a new heist in GTA Online. This is

[00:07] your daily fix.

[00:26] If you own a digital copy of Grand Theft

[00:28] Auto 5 on Xbox One or any kind of copy

[00:30] on PS4, you'll be entitled to a free

[00:32] upgrade to the current gen versions of

[00:33] the game starting tomorrow, June 18th.

[00:35] As has been the case for years, you'll

[00:37] also be able to migrate all of your

[00:39] progress over, ensuring everything

[00:40] you've earned transfers with you. GTA V

[00:42] costs 40 bucks on current gen platforms,

[00:43] so this is a good deal. If you haven't

[00:45] yet double or triple dipped, Rockstar is

[00:47] making things easy on you. The current

[00:48] gen versions of GTA V have been

[00:49] available since March 2022. And while it

[00:52] isn't a wildly dramatic leap from last

[00:53] gen, it does provide a much smoother

[00:55] experience thanks to things like 60

[00:57] frames per second. Of course, GTA 6 is

[00:59] finally coming this November. Makes

[01:01] sense to give GTA 5 one last big push

[01:03] before that. As of right now, Rockstar

[01:05] has yet to release any details about GTA

[01:07] 6's online mode, so it's hard to say if

[01:09] any of your progress will carry over

[01:10] from that. Given that people have spent

[01:12] 13 years building a life in GTA Online,

[01:14] some fans are hoping they'll get to

[01:15] bring some goodies with them to Vice

[01:16] City. But it also wouldn't be surprising

[01:18] if everyone got a fresh start when the

[01:20] mode drops. The next look at GTA 6 is

[01:22] expected to arrive this summer. It

[01:23] wouldn't be surprising if Rockstar waits

[01:25] until after the release of a new update

[01:26] in July, so it doesn't distract anyone

[01:28] from the new content is trying to push

[01:30] to fans. Speaking of that new update,

[01:33] GTA Online is getting its next big

[01:34] update in just a few weeks. The new

[01:36] update, known as the Courts Center

[01:37] Heist, will let players ransack Los

[01:39] Santos most prestigious art gallery. The

[01:42] building has been in GTA V since launch,

[01:43] but has largely been unused for any

[01:45] significant content outside of a

[01:46] standoff between various law enforcement

[01:48] agencies in the story mode. It's never

[01:49] had an accessible interior, and there's

[01:51] not much reason to go visit it, but that

[01:53] will all change in July. If it's

[01:54] anything like other GTA Online updates,

[01:56] this will likely be quite expansive and

[01:57] feature new vehicles, weapons, clothing,

[01:59] and potentially gameplay mechanics.

[02:01] Previous heists are also highly

[02:02] replayable thanks to different

[02:03] approaches, which allow you to take on

[02:04] these high-risisk jobs in a wide variety

[02:06] of ways. Details are still scarce on

[02:08] what exactly the update will feature

[02:09] beyond this heist, but Rockstar will

[02:10] likely give fans a rundown a few days

[02:12] before it launches. Fans may also want

[02:14] to start preparing as you'll need a fair

[02:15] bit of money and assets to partake in

[02:17] this heist. Players will need to own one

[02:18] of the mansions that were added in the

[02:20] last major GTA online update as the

[02:22] mansion's art studio will be renovated

[02:24] into a heist planning room. If you don't

[02:25] have a mansion yet or you're broke,

[02:27] Rockstar will be offering ways to earn

[02:28] bonus GTA bucks in the coming weeks.

[02:30] Additionally, GTA Plus members will be

[02:32] able to get a $2 million discount on the

[02:34] mansions very soon. All in all, it seems

[02:36] like a perfect time to jump back into

[02:37] GTA online if you've played it before,

[02:39] especially as anticipation builds for

[02:40] GTA 6's release this November. And that
