AI Summary

This video covers the start of WoW's new season, focusing on the Nightmare Prey system, new affixes, dungeon and raid changes, and other weekly updates. The creator shares practical tips for handling Nightmare Prey efficiently, along with first impressions of the raid, delves, and world boss loot.

[00:02]
Season 1 Start

Season 1 officially began, bringing daily mythic zero dungeon resets, a new dungeon pool (Skyreach, Pit of Saron), raid opening, delve season, and Nightmare Prey.

[00:28]
Nightmare Prey Affixes

Nightmare Prey includes all affixes plus two new dangerous ones: Fixate (a ghost mob connected by a red line) and Bloody Command (a 15-second debuff requiring a kill).

[00:44]
Dealing with Fixate

Use a ranged kick or CC to stop the Fixate mob's cast and dissipate it; otherwise, kite it until it times out. Be cautious in caves where it can ambush you.

[01:24]
Bloody Command Strategy

Kill any critter (butterfly, squirrel) before the debuff expires to avoid a heavy dot. The Critter Hand Cannon toy can summon critters on demand; use immunities if the dot lands.

[02:37]
Focus on Prey, Not Rares

On Nightmare difficulty, skip rares and world quests; focus solely on prey to finish faster and safer. Use prey traps (shown on minimap) to instantly defeat ambushes on normal/hard, or reduce 25% on Nightmare.

[04:07]
Nightmare Prey Efficiency

A Nightmare Prey run takes 5-10 minutes, rewarding champion pieces and crests, making it great for gearing alts (e.g., a 220 ilvl hunter completed one easily).

[04:48]
Dungeon and Gear Sources

Champion loot drops from mythic zeros with daily resets; a single world tour yielded multiple champion pieces. The abundance of gear sources (dungeons, delves, raid, vault) accelerates gearing.

[06:14]
Delve First Impressions

Delves launched; the creator likes using restored keys and finds them fun. The nemesis boss Nalaeus is extremely easy on the first difficulty, even without enchants or preparation.

[08:01]
World Boss Loot

The world boss guarantees one war-bound piece of loot per account per week, usable for any armor type, reducing the need to farm on alts. Cosmetic collection is easier due to the wide loot pool.

[09:06]
Raid Difficulty

Normal raid was harder than expected; the group cleared Vaults on night one, then Khaz'goroth and Alleria on normal, and Averion on heroic. The creator appreciates the challenge.

[10:16]
Raid Frames and UI

The creator struggles with default raid frames, especially seeing dispel targets on Dread Breath; plans to customize them. Recommends the City Guide add-on for navigation in Silvermoon.

[10:47]
Trial of Style

Trial of Style is back until March 27th with new cosmetics, including a silver chainkini. Outfit edits are free during the week.

The season's start offers a wealth of gearing opportunities, with Nightmare Prey being a fast and rewarding activity for alts. The creator encourages players to try the easy nemesis boss and take advantage of the world boss's war-bound loot.

[00:02] which makes it time to sit down and catch up on what's going on in wow this week. This week season 1 officially started, which meant all kinds of things. It meant dungeons moving to a daily walk at reset for mythic zero, as

[00:15] well as switching to the current season dungeon set. So we now have Skyreach, Pit of Saron, etc. in there. It meant raid opening up, at least for the dream rift and the void spire. It meant the delve season starting and it meant

[00:28] nightmare prey. I have had a lot of fun with nightmare prey this week and I spent some time putting together my best tips and info about nightmare prey to this system. In nightmare, you deal with all affixes

[00:44] and there are two brand new nightmare level affixes that are particularly dangerous. The fixate mob is our first one. You're going to see a big red line connecting you to a ghost. It's coming for you and

[00:57] you've got a couple of options. If you have a ranged kick or a ranged CC that you can use, do that. It will stop the cast, dissipate the mob, easy peasy. Failing that, you can kite it until it times out and that's probably safer than

[01:10] trying to kick or CC it in melee. Be extra careful with going into caves or crevices where the mob might sneak up on you and this is really a paying deal with if you're looking, but if you're tabbed out dealing with something

[01:24] else, you're going to get into trouble. Speaking of things that could get you the second nightmare affix is called bloody command. You get a cool voice line from Astalor. You get a 15 second debuff and you must kill something

[01:40] before it falls off or else you get a heavy dot. The tip here is that critters count. So scan your surroundings for any critters that you can kill. happen to you in the middle of nowhere, but usually there's at least a butterfly

[01:55] or a squirrel or something. If you want more security than that, you can use the Critter Hand Cannon toy to summon critters that you can kill in a pinch. This toy is a reward from a Legion quest in Highmountain in the

[02:09] Attack. You may have earned it during Legion Remix. And if you are having probably worth putting this on a hot bar so you can summon critters on demand to kill for Astralore. Avoiding the dot is much better than

[02:24] trying to survive it, but if you do get the dot, and it it'll happen to the best of us, don't be afraid to use an immunity. I play a shadow priest here, I get the dot. If you have no defensives and you're

[02:37] toast. My next piece of advice for Nightmare My next piece of advice for Nightmare Prey is at least at first, or on alts, ignore rares and world quests. That is a great way to do prey on a lower

[02:49] difficulty, but I think that on Nightmare level, the ambushes and affixes are so dangerous that it's both safer and faster to just focus the prey in Nightmare mode and finish it quickly, rather than trying to multitask it with

[03:01] other things that you want to do. In order to focus prey quickly, and this works for any difficulty of prey, head to the prey world quest area on your map and look for prey traps. These are now shown on your mini map, which is super

[03:15] convenient, and you basically want to run around and pick those up. Some of them will give you the actual prey trap item, and I like to put that on a hot bar, because whenever you get ambushed by your prey, you can chuck a

[03:27] trap at them. On normal and hard difficulty, doing that insta-defeats the ambush. On Nightmare, it takes off 25%, which is basically half of the ambush The traps are war-bound, they stack up to five. I find that I always have lots

[03:41] of them from farming them to get my prey done. So, keep it on a bar, chuck it at ambushes, and loot them just to get your prey done. you loot the item that spawns when you beat them, and then follow their trail

[03:54] to riposte their shadow. This is going to give you prey progress, and it's also achievement if you were interested in that. ambushes, you should be able to finish a nightmare prey in between 5 and 10

[04:07] So, those are the tips that I have so far. Generally speaking, I like nightmare prey a lot. I find it to be much faster than a delve and great for gearing alts, at least a little bit. I find you can do a nightmare prey. I did

[04:22] one on a fairly under-geared, reasonably fresh alt. My hunter was about item level 220-ish, and she got a nightmare prey done in like, you know, the normal kind of 5 to 10 minutes. Two champion pieces, plus

[04:34] nightmare delves, you get like a bunch of crests. I feel like it's a really get a little bit more gear before I send her into delves. And do something that, yes, you do have to do some combat. Yes, you have to pay

[04:48] attention, but you're not going to be slogging away at it for as long as you might be doing something like a level eight delve on an under-geared alt. Other activities and sources of gear this week, champion loot was firehosing

[05:00] out of dungeons with daily resets and champion loot dropping from mythic zeros. I personally did one world tour of dungeons, got a bunch of champion loot, did not go back. It may as well have been a weekly lockout for me. I

[05:13] crazy. I like the dungeons. I'm happy with the current dungeon pool. Dungeon healing feels exciting right now. Don't mind that. That's just my sump pump. I'm pretty excited for the mythic plus season. It seems like, especially now

[05:29] delves, and then obviously raid, and then obviously vault, there are so many if you're the kind of person that likes to do all of those things, you're going to have a lot to do, and you are going

[05:43] to get geared very quickly. Like, I already have not only a set of champion gear for holy priest, but I already have almost a full second set of champion gear for shadow just from one week. Not complaining, I do think it's a good

[05:57] that somebody that likes, you know, keys and not delves or pray but not keys or choose and mix and match your favorite content to get your gearing done. going to get a lot of gear. And I think that has helped with something else,

[06:14] which is bringing uh dawn crystal prices down so that normal people can afford Almost getting there. Speaking of delves, delves launched this week and we now have kind of first impressions on this season of them.

[06:28] I am making an effort this season to actually use my restored keys. I like the change of putting the copper keys or I almost feel like we could have skipped a step and just given you keys. Like I

[06:41] appreciate that they auto convert when you enter a delve. I don't really get why there has to be shards. But anyways, I'm making a pact with myself to at least for the first part of the season use the keys so that I don't

[06:54] end up just loading 20 or 30 of them at the end of the season because if nothing achievements. I've been finding the delves pretty fun. I did try Nalaeus, which is this season's nemesis boss. I tried it on the first difficulty and I

[07:08] just kind of spent the whole time waiting for him to do something. Anything. You know, he cast something I think. I kicked it so I don't know what it was. He summoned a couple of ads. I

[07:21] around a bit. I've heard people saying this week that and I was kind of like, "Well, let me see, you know, I'm pretty I can be pretty messy at this stuff." No, he's super easy. He has a lot of health, but

[07:35] he does nothing. I'm not surprised Hall of Fame for him filled up as quickly as it did. If you are thinking of trying him, please do. I walked in with no enchants on a shadow priest, which usually isn't the best

[07:47] class to do this kind of thing in, without looking anything up, and like a level 19 Valera or something, and one shot it without sweat because nothing but I haven't tried the harder difficulty yet. Perhaps that will change

[08:01] my mind. I'm not expecting it to based on what I've heard, but we'll see. Other things that unleashed this week, the world boss is out, and I appreciate the way they handled loot for this. So, this expansion, the world boss, your first

[08:14] kill per account in a week is going to give you a piece of loot, and it's going to be a war bound piece of loot. So, it can be for any armor type. It's war bound. Maybe it's for your main, maybe it's for your alt, but you guarantee get

[08:26] you're not going to get any loot after that. At least that's my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. I like this because it means that you don't have to farm the world boss on alts to get gear. It means that you can

[08:39] do the world boss on your main who doesn't even need the gear and still get if you want to collect the cosmetics from the world boss, you don't need to do it on every armor type or whatever because you can just get any cosmetic on

[08:52] your main because the entire pool can drop for you. It does mean that if off of the world boss, it will be much harder to target because wide loot pool. I think that's a pretty niche problem to

[09:06] will have it. Raid released this week, and I want to talk about my experience in the first week of it. It was harder than I expected. Normal raid was tuned more tightly than I anticipated.

[09:22] And I was a little afraid going in because the mechanics are reasonably well telegraphed. I have some beef with Alleria's arrows, but reasonably well telegraphed mechanics,

[09:34] fairly straightforward concepts. I was a little worried that the raid was just much gear we were going into this raid tier with. But instead, we rolled up to normal, and it took some real doing. It's We spent

[09:48] normal Vaults by the first night, and then our second raid night we killed Khaz'goroth on normal, we killed Aleria on normal, and then we killed Averion on heroic, which was a project. I appreciate that. I like to see a raid

[10:01] immediately, because I like to spend a little time working on it as long as I was playing a holy priest. I was pleasantly surprised at how interesting buttons. It turns out with a big enough emergency, anything is fun.

[10:16] I do think I need to spend more time customizing my raid frames, though, don't think I'm the only one to have this problem, were very hard to see. Looking for the dispel on the fear from Dread Breath on the twin dragons was

[10:33] who to dispel was from the raid frame about who it was targeting. If anybody else got clipped, then they were out of luck. I think that maybe I can fix that if I really sit down and work on my raid frames. I am using default Blizzard UI,

[10:47] but definitely needs some work. I miss my big debuffs. Speaking of cosmetics and transmog, the Trial of Style is back. If you didn't have enough going on, Trial of Style is here for a week. It is on until March

[10:59] the 27th, and they have new cosmetics on it, so there is a good reason for us to do it. There are new including a silver chainkini. If you are a fan of

[11:11] ringmail inspired swimwear, and perhaps you did not get the previous chainkini from the trading post, this is your moment. tiny bit different because of the new transmog system now, but you can save

[11:23] your Trial of Style outfit to a Trial of Style outfit slot, and any edits you make to that slot are free within this week. And then I want to take a second to spotlight an add-on this week, which is City Guide.

[11:35] I don't know about you, and I think some of you are finding your way around, and I'm proud of you. I'm lost. I can't find anything in Silvermoon. I keep looking for guards. I can't even find the guards. City Guide helps by putting big

[11:47] colorful icons on the map, and there's a couple of different options for how you want them to look, showing you where all the stuff is so you can stop flying in laps wondering what's going on. Um I think I need this more than most

[11:59] people because I am particularly directionally challenged, and this one goes out to my directionally challenged um you know, twins. Oh, also, I moved I finally moved my 10-gallon aquarium into my office. I

[12:13] have a couple of shrimpies in there along with one very friendly fish. And I'm trying very hard to grow some plants. I couldn't put as many plants as I wanted to in there because aquarium plants are like really expensive. So,

[12:26] just hoping we can manifest bushiness. know, however many weeks from now, there'll be more green back there. Thank you so much for watching. If you want to say hi or have any questions for

[12:38] me, please feel free to stop by my Twitch stream, and I hope you have a Twitch stream, and I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful day. Bye.
