[00:00] Okay, so a few months ago I made a video recommending 10 incredible movies that people don't really know about and I'm gonna be very honest I didn't realize this video was going to have such an impact. I didn't realize you guys would like it this much

[00:16] And I didn't realize the directors of these movies would see the video and reach out It was honestly kind of crazy and over the last couple of months I've received an overwhelming amount of messages asking me to make another one of these so here we are

[00:29] I love doing this because it gives me more of an opportunity to talk about things I love and after ranting about stranger things for Five hours. I am quite due for a palette cleanser So I'm here with 10 more movies for you and I'm very excited to tell you about them because I love them very deeply

[00:46] Last time I limited myself to movies that came out in 2023 and 2024 because I was trying to prove a point to people who say cinema is dead as if there aren't got to your movies coming out all the time everywhere this time

[00:58] I'm not gonna do that though I still have a lot of recent movies in here But some older stuff as well because it's my channel and I do whatever I want and as always first utility is everything The list is going to go through different genres and vibes so no matter what you're into there will be something for you in there

[01:15] I promise, but also you can give a chance to something that is not usually what you're into you never know There are jams everywhere. Okay enough yapping. Let's get to it. Here are 10 incredible movies

[01:27] Nobody watched volume two. Oh, yeah, you should probably watch the previous video if you haven't you don't necessarily like need to you can just Watch this one and then go watch the other one like you don't have to watch them in order and just saying in case you

[01:42] Haven't seen the previous one. It's also a pretty good video if I do say so my number 10 the outrun not quite starting on a Cheery note. That's my bad, but there will be lighter movies. Just let me cook The outrun is the story of Rona a 29 year old woman freshly out of rehab after battling severe alcoholism returns home to her small island village

[02:02] It's Scotland where she grew up hoping that isolation and nature might succeed where everything else has failed Rona is desperate to reconnect with her humanity to deal with intense trauma from her time drinking and to grieve her relationship with her ex-boyfriend

[02:18] Who left her as a result of her addiction going too far the story is not really linear It's purposefully fractured between two timelines one following Rona in Scotland after rehab when she's recovering and one

[02:31] Following her in London before rehab when she spirals into her addiction and is at her lowest and most self-destructive The movie serves as a very deeply honest look at addiction and recovery showcasing its wobbly nature full of highs and lows

[02:46] And that's what I really like about it. It's not trying to be flashy It doesn't want to be this larger than life take on sobriety that is very much romanticized and made big for Hollywood and blah blah blah

[03:00] It's a very calm and human look at one person trying to be better And that's what makes it feel so realistic and it needs to be because of what this movie is. For context, the outrun is based on a memoir of the same name

[03:15] That tells the story of a very real person. A Scottish journalist named Amy Lipptrod and Amy co-wrote the movie with director Nora Fingshite The movie stars Sursher Ronan as Rona, a fictionalized version of Amy Lipptrod and Papa S.Yadu who you now probably know as the new

[03:33] Severus Snape that people are definitely not being racist about. The whole thing is a shameless flex of powerful performances mainly by Sursher Ronan who is just so unbelievably good in this role

[03:46] She has to showcase such a wide range of emotions and mental states between two different timelines without ever making you feel like you're watching a different character And she nails it every step of the way. The outrun is a story that takes its time. It purposefully lingers on very human moments

[04:04] It's not trying to be epic. It's just trying to explore real feelings and movies like that get pretty rare It came out last year, but it was largely overlooked so if you haven't seen it, please give it a shot

[04:17] It's beautiful and soulful and very much worth the while Number 9 Emily the Criminal Emily the Criminal is an independent crime thriller released in 2022 starring Aubrey Plaza and Theorasi

[04:32] It tells a story of Emily Benetto, a bitter food delivery woman from Los Angeles who is being crushed by an exorbitant amount of debt due to student loans she is struggling to repay She can't make ends meet, she can't afford to live comfortably and the interest on her debt is piling on faster than she can follow

[04:51] Emily is a hard worker and a highly qualified individual but she struggles to find a well-paying job because of a past conviction for aggravated assault That makes it impossible for her to pass background checks

[05:03] When her debt gets even worse because of excessive interest, Emily's back is against the wall and she asks her friend Liz to help her get a better job But once again, she gets rejected during the interview because of her criminal record

[05:16] Desperate and out of options, Emily ends up accepting a shady job offer from a sketchy co-worker who tells her she can make $200 by doing a single hour of work

[05:28] She jumps on the opportunity but things quickly take a very dark turn when Emily understands she is getting involved with an underground crime organization that runs entirely on credit card fraud

[05:42] And before she knows it, her desperate need for money takes her down a rabbit hole that becomes increasingly dangerous but increasingly lucrative Can you turn off the engine please?

[05:56] Turn off the engine On the surface, Emily the criminal is a really tense crime thriller and it is very good at being that

[06:08] But below the surface, the movie is actually a very well-crafted commentary about capitalism, the state of society and its very flawed systems for people who are living in poverty

[06:20] She chose a woman who is desperately trying to get her life back on track by using the channels available to her but the system is rigged against her because of a minor criminal record from her college days

[06:32] And she is literally doomed to financially drown no matter how qualified she is for high-paying positions on the job market This is a very competitive position. What I don't understand is how you feel so comfortable asking someone to work without pay

[06:46] You know, when I was your age, they told me all I could be was the secretary. Secretary's get paid It's not trying to paint Emily as a martyr, she very much isn't but it also shows that no matter how hard she tried, the societal system is so rigged that her only way out of her student loan debt is to turn to crime

[07:05] Because the legal channels will never allow for her to make a decent amount of money to live comfortably while taking care of her student debt And once the movie gets going, it does not let up. The entire thing is an adrenaline rush

[07:20] Every decision made by the character shifts the situation in a way that is just so stressful It's the kind of movie when you look at them make a wrong choice and you're like, how the fuck are they gonna get out of this

[07:32] The movie is thrilling, it leaves you on the edge of your seat. Aubrey Plaza is phenomenal as Emily. If you haven't seen Emily the criminal, watch it. It's absolutely amazing

[07:44] 8. Lost in Starlight Lost in Starlight is a Netflix original animated movie from South Korea released in 2025 And it tells the story of Nanyang, a brilliant scientist and astronaut traumatized by a family tragedy from her childhood who was set to join the third-ever team of human beings to go to Mars

[08:09] And it's also the story of Jay, an extremely talented musician from Seoul who abandoned all of his dreams and settled for a quieter life as a mechanic in the city Nanyang and Jay meet by accidentally bumping into each other outside of a store where Nanyang went to try and fix a vintage final player from the 2020s that belonged to her mother

[08:29] Feeling bad about the incident, Jay offers to fix the vinyl player for her and from there they spark an undeniable connection And they begin a life-changing romance

[08:41] But a romance laced with the looming reality of Nanyang's mission to Mars as well as a very dark secret about that mission and her real intentions in joining it that she hides from everybody

[08:55] Lost in Starlight is so heartwarming, it's one of those movies that feel like a warm hug and it restores your faith in humanity I went into it without really knowing what it was about and I just enjoyed the ride with water in my eyes

[09:09] The movie is visually gorgeous, there are so many shots where I was like, damn, that is such a flex The use of colors is just incredible, everything is popping, there are some breathtaking sequences that serve as visual metaphors for the character, psyche, and specific moments of their lives

[09:29] It's just such an impressive project in terms of visuals and without spoiling anything I just love the way the movie progresses It feels like you're watching one thing and then there's a sort of shift that changes the focus of the story

[09:43] And the second half of the movie became something I did not expect from this at all And I mean that in the best way possible There's mystery to it, there's wonder to it, and the story changing that route works incredibly well

[09:56] Because the core of it remains the two protagonists who are just magnetic together And that chemistry makes sense because non-young and J are voiced by Kim Taeree and Hong Kyung

[10:08] who also start together in a pretty fun mystery horror thriller Korean series called Revenant I think it's on Disney+, I watched a few episodes of it, it's very entertaining But they bounce off of each other perfectly well in this too

[10:22] Even in an animated format, the performances are amazing and they're supported by virtually every other aspect of the film From the music, the writing, the dialogue, it's all incredible

[10:34] Lost in Starlight is the ultimate comfort watch, it's warm, it's cozy, it's vibrant, it's emotional It's incredibly underrated and it deserves all the praise it's gotten from the people who have watched it

[10:48] It's on Netflix, please make a night out of it, watch this movie, I think everybody should see this Alright, we're gonna change the vibe with number seven But before we get into that, I want to take a quick moment to thank today's sponsor, Raycon

[11:02] Okay people, you need to lock in Mother's Day is coming up And your mom deserves more than shitty chocolate you bought at the last minute in a gas station at 3 a.m. because you forgot about it It's time to get her a gift that'll actually be useful to her in her daily life

[11:18] And lucky for you, Raycon's essential open earbuds are right here Meaning, yo mama can do anything she wants from running errands, going on a morning walk or even talking on the phone

[11:30] All while listening to music or podcasts unbothered Yeah, it sounds like magic, but it's just great technology Regular earbuds block everything out, if you're wearing them you have no idea what's going on around you you can't hear it

[11:44] But open earbuds sit just outside your ear canal Meaning, you get really clear sound but you can still hear everything around you It's perfect for my mom because she's just like me, a paranoid maniac

[11:58] And she can be out here walking in the streets of Gotham City without being able to hear when the penguin sneaks up on her She's got to say safe and aware while being able to still listen to top tier West African music because my mom only listens to bangers

[12:11] And if that wasn't enough on top of all of that, they have a 36 hour battery life which is dope Multi point connection which allows you to use them on different devices seamlessly without needing to pair them again each time And they're overall just really comfortable and light

[12:26] And they're made to adapt to any sort of ear shape or size which is absolutely phenomenal And it's perfect for the gym or when I'm just kind of out walking around So guys, go ahead and celebrate the moms in your life Click the link in the description box down below or go to buyraycon.com slash space ninja open

[12:43] To get 15% off the essential open earbuds Thank you so much to Raycon for sponsoring this video Happy Mother's Day and let's get back to the show

[12:55] Number 7 Cahierens I'm gonna give this one brief, you'll understand why Cahierens is a mystery sci-fi psychological thriller released in 2013

[13:07] That tells the very strange story of a group of friends that reunite for a dinner party at one of their houses On the surface everything is seeming normal and totally level headed But when a mysterious comet passes by Earth and the power suddenly goes out in the entire city

[13:24] The group decides to venture outside the house and when they do They find something that makes their lives take an extremely dark turn A turn that is increasingly bizarre and unexplainable

[13:39] Okay, usually I'm a bit more detailed in my description of the plot, not this time though I am staying intentionally very vague with the plot of this movie Because I think Cahierens is one of those films you should know virtually nothing about when you go into it

[13:53] All I will tell you is that the most accurate way I have to describe this movie is by referring to it as a 90-minute mind-fuck If you are a fan of mind-bending stories with jaw-dropping twists, this one is for you

[14:09] No questions asked Every time you think you're getting a grasp of what's going on, the movie just throws something insane at you That recontextualizes everything you just watch and your brain just explodes

[14:21] It's a fucking stressful ride in all the best ways It's intense and thrilling The mystery is so well crafted and there is an a single moment in this movie Where I could predict where it would go next

[14:33] I can't believe this movie already came out 13 years ago Cahierens is one of those movies you see and you always think about at random times in your life And you're like, man, that movie was something

[14:46] Cahierens, watch it, you won't regret it 6. Femm Switching gears again, Femm is a dark British thriller released in 2023

[14:58] starring Nathan Stewart-Jerrett, who most of you probably know as Curtis from misfits This is a feature-like adaptation of a short film from the same director duo that starred Papa Essidoo

[15:10] Again, Femm tells the story of a drag artist and performer named Jewels who, after a show in a London nightclub, becomes the victim of a horrific and brutal homophobic attack that completely traumatizes him and ruins his life

[15:25] He doesn't leave his apartment for weeks and he stops performing, completely abandoning his career and identity But, about three months later, Jewels makes his way to a sauna space for gay men to relax

[15:38] and that is where, in a shocking turn of events, he comes across a man named Preston and he immediately recognizes him as one of his attackers Preston, however, does not recognize Jewels because this time he is not in drag

[15:55] Jewels realizes that and he decides to take advantage of the situation He comes up with a sinister plan to seduce Preston to exact revenge for that horrifying night Femm is not the easiest watch of this list, as you can probably imagine, but man, this movie is powerful

[16:15] I'm always sort of fascinated by stories that live on the idea of cycles of violence and how anger always finds a way to breed more anger and how that rabbit hole can destroy people

[16:27] It's such a complex side of human nature to tackle earnestly and I think Femm nails it Mainly thanks to the two actors leading it The acting in this movie is fucking insane, there is such an intensity to these characters, they feel so real

[16:43] So tangible, which just adds to the tragedy of the story because they're self-destructive actions and decisions really drive everything that happens and it's like watching a train go at full speed, knowing full well the only outcome is gonna be that train crashing into a wall

[17:00] It's the kind of movie where you want to reach through the screen and shake the characters and just beg them to stop But at the same time there is such a strong sense of humanity and vulnerability behind it all and so many complex feelings woven into every single scene

[17:16] It makes the whole movie feel incredibly layered and compelling Watch this movie, it's an absolute ride and an extremely poignant commentary on the very dark realities queer people are faced with every day

[17:29] Simply for wanting to exist authentically as themselves Number 5 Enter Galactic Back to the realm of 2D stuff We're gonna talk about one of those animated movies that are just incredibly comforting and effortlessly cool as shit

[17:48] Oh shit Enter Galactic is a Netflix movie that came out in 2023 and that tells the story of Jabari, a charming and ambitious artist who reaches a new level of success when a character he created is acquired to be adapted into a comic book

[18:11] To celebrate this life-changing project, he decides to get himself his dream apartment in the heart of Manhattan and that is where he meets Meadow, an equally charming photographer who lives next door

[18:24] The two immediately spark a very powerful connection, which quickly turns into a complicated romance with two people who try to do good But are riddled with commitment issues, communication problems, and highly demanding careers that are not necessarily compatible with the prospect of a long-term relationship

[18:44] So Jabari has to learn to balance his career and this complex love story while navigating this new unknown phase of his life But his unresolved connection with his ex-girlfriend Carmen threatens the fragile stability of this new relationship

[19:00] The star's Kit Kudi, Jessica Williams, renowned ballet fanatic Timothy Shalamet, Vanessa Hudgens, Laura Herrier, Teyana Taylor, Jade and Smith, and many, many more

[19:12] Cast is stacked as hell and the performance has quickly told you why that is This movie is so fucking charismatic, it's so funny, it's so creative, the visuals are fucking incredible

[19:26] It's ethereal, it's heavily stylized, it makes you dream, it makes you romanticize the most mundane moments of your own life It's a movie that has such a love for life itself from the big epic moments to the simple, quiet little things that make a routine

[19:43] I love shit like this, it makes me feel so good And as a romance, what makes the story stand out is the fact that neither of the two protagonists treated like a fantasy object or a manic pixie romance cliché

[19:56] They are both allowed to be flawed, hesitant and a little messy, they have their past, they have baggage, they have their walls up And each of them is teaching the other to open up for different reasons

[20:08] It makes them feel like real people and that gives the relationship a more grounded feeling even though the visuals are highly stylized and dreamlike It's just a very refreshing movie, it's super cosy, it has such a unique atmosphere and music is a huge part of its identity

[20:26] The entire soundtrack is made by KitKuddy and it's this super memorable blend of hip hop and synthesizers Ah, so good, I wish I could show some of it here, but if I do, my video's gonna be blasted by copyright claims

[20:40] So you're just gonna have to trust me on this one This movie slaps if you wanna have a cosy movie night at home, this is the one Number 4 Red Rooms

[20:52] Red Rooms is a psychological thriller from Quebec released in 2023 That tells the story of a young woman from Montreal named Kellyanne who develops an extreme obsession for the trial case of a serial killer named Ludovic

[21:08] Ludovic is on trial for murdering three teenage girls and broadcasting those murders in a red room, an illegal chat room on the dark web where people pay to watch snuff films Kellyanne is going down a very dangerous rabbit hole

[21:23] Her fixation on the case is getting more and more intense She shows up in person at the trials, she befriends a woman named Clementine who is a fan of the serial killer She cyber stalks one of the victim's mother, like she becomes more and more absorbed by this case and everything it involves

[21:41] And that obsession lids her through a dark path that could destroy her life As you can probably gather, this movie is a psychological thriller that explores the dark side of a person's increasingly intense obsession

[21:55] with true crime The entire movie is a slow psychological descent as Kellyanne's fixation goes beyond curiosity into something disturbing and compulsive the deeper she dives into the case

[22:10] It's also a larger commentary on how in the current age of true crime content there has been an insane normalization of real life violence being exploited as entertainment I've already talked a whole lot about my opinions on true crime as a genre, what it has become in recent years and more specifically

[22:29] People who consume that content to an extent that has just become very unsettling to me Naturally, the subject matter of this film resonated with me a whole lot The film's is a pretty sinister movie, it's dance and at times quite uncomfortable to watch

[22:45] But the way it has of driving its point with this slow progression of obsessive behavior is just phenomenal It's impeccably well directed, Juliet Garipi is amazing in this lead role

[22:58] Watch, red rooms, it's the kind of movie you'll be thinking about for a while 3. Arco Like in volume 1 of the incredible movies nobody watched, I'm introducing you to the next level mastery that is French animation

[23:15] Last time I talked about Mars Express, one of the best sci-fi movies to come out in the last like 10 years And this time we're going to talk about a masterful adventure film

[23:27] Arco takes place in the year 2075 and follows a 10 year old girl named Iris, who one day sees a mysterious boy in a rainbow jumpsuit falling from the sky

[23:42] The boy's name is Arco, he comes from the very distant future of the year 2932 An idyllic utopia where humans live in the sky and where time travel is possible

[23:56] However, he is not supposed to be here and something is very wrong So Iris decides to shelter Arco and she accompanies him on an adventure to find a way for him to get home

[24:10] Arco is a poetic beautiful piece of cinema that has been on my mind ever since I first watched it It's such an amazing movie, I barely have the words for it, I felt so many things watching this

[24:23] The heart of the movie really is in the bond between Arco and Iris and it's so heartwarming Those moments where they bond over their complicated relationships with their parents and with the different realities of their times etc

[24:37] It's just so good, the entire time I was watching it, I kept thinking there's something about it that feels very Miyazaki in spirit Like if you're a fan of the studio Ghibli films, this movie is kind of made for you

[24:50] It's very cozy, it's soulful, it's fantastic storytelling It drives a powerful message about the environment and it's this kind of dreamy adventure that introduces you to a colorful world full of wonder

[25:04] The vibe of this movie is so soothing, it's like an instant comfort watch I can't wait to rewatch it after having a very hard day and it's raining outside and I just need to feel cozy Also, fun fact, this movie was produced by Natalie Portman, which is pretty fucking cool

[25:21] Natalie Portman lives in Paris and she's very involved in the art world in France She even voices a couple of the characters in the movies English stuff Just dropping that in there, you should watch it in French though But anyway, you get it

[25:33] Watch Arco, it's a movie that deserves so much more love, so much more success It's amazing, it's beautiful, it's perfect You love it forever

[25:46] Number 2 Monkey Man If there's one thing that makes me feel alive, it's watching a well-made passion project Monkey Man is a movie that came out in 2024 and that tells the story of an unnamed protagonist and underground fighter in India

[26:02] Who enacts a decade in the making plan to take revenge on the local elite who victimizes the poor and defenseless and who murdered his mother when he was a child

[26:14] From government leaders to crime bosses, he unlocks an endless amount of violence to take this elite down at any cost The movie stars Death Patel as this nameless character, but it was also written and directed by Death Patel

[26:30] Monkey Man is his passion project, one that took years of his life to get done Because the making of this movie was kind of a nightmare Death Patel broke his hand filming the very first action scene

[26:45] He barely got a chance to recover that he broke his toes One of his injuries got infected, he got pink eye, they broke an extremely expensive camera The head of the lighting department died of a heart attack mid shoot

[26:59] The assistant director left the project because he couldn't handle the stress The pandemic halted filming for months, there were so many problems on set, investors threatened to shut the movie down

[27:11] The film basically died and then again Joe Thomas my producer Death Patel had to lie to investors about shooting locations because things had to change at the last minute

[27:31] For a while it looked like they were never going to be able to finish shooting the movie It was an absolute shit show And usually when you hear about such a chaotic process to make a movie, the result tends to be shitty and deplorable

[27:45] So it's kind of a miracle that Monkey Man turned out as fucking amazing as it is Death Patel gave it everything he had, he risked his entire career, turned down life-changing opportunities for years on end

[28:00] Which could have been career suicide He really believed in this project and it really shows You can tell when watching it just how much passion went into making Monkey Man This movie really is the vision of an artist and you can even see that in some of the artistic choices being made here

[28:18] The movie was shot on traditional cameras but they also used GoPro's and iPhones for certain sequences It's a bold choice to use such drastically different outlets to film the movie

[28:30] But the thing is, it's so seamless you can barely tell The movie is super consistent with its aesthetics but it also does some super wacky things with its visuals The editing is dynamic as hell, the camera work is wild especially during the action scenes

[28:48] Oh my god, the action scenes

[29:00] And the most impressive thing about it is how much they were able to do with such a limited budget for a movie of that scale In a world where production costs have gotten so inflated that movies costing $60 million to make are now considered small indie films

[29:17] Monkey Man was made for only $10 million and when you watch this movie, it'll just blow your mind because it does not feel like it Movies less ambitious have been made for 10 times that amount and look significantly smaller in scale

[29:36] The fact that they pull this off is miraculous Monkey Man is an insane achievement of filmmaking and a testament to the patience and effort that is needed to make a movie with heart in an industry that makes it incredibly difficult

[29:51] Also, fun fact, this movie was also produced by Natalie Portman, I'm kidding, that's not true But it was backed by a really cool figure of current Hollywood, which is amazing See, Netflix had initially bought the rights to distribute Monkey Man, but after seeing how it turned out, they started to panic at the political message of the film

[30:10] They thought they were signing up for a mindless action flick and they didn't realize it would have so much heart and something to say And so because they got scared of what the response to it would be, they started to quietly scrap it from the release schedule

[30:24] But then, Jordan Peele came in, yeah, director of Get Out saw the movie and went, oh, fuck that, this needs to be in theaters

[30:36] So he boldly knew Gitsnay Divine Move and he went through his production company to buy the rights back from Netflix, cut a new deal with another studio, Universal, and change the release of the film to a theatrical one

[30:50] Legendary move, and I'm very thankful for that because I saw this movie in theaters and it's one of the best theater experiences I've had in the last few years Some people have called this movie the Indian Sean Wick, and I guess I sort of see it, but it also has an insane amount of social messages and several layers of its story

[31:09] Like John Wick, it is really the story of a guy who has absolutely nothing left to lose, its vengeance in a very raw depiction It's also a story about corruption, discrimination, Indian society, and the harsh realities of poverty

[31:25] But also yes, it is Indian John Wick, the action sequences in this movie are insanely well directed The choreography is fucking crazy, it's so imaginative and fun, the fights are brutal

[31:41] The moments where the way some people get bodied made me physically react, it is crazy how well put together those action sequences are The movie takes its time to establish things, but once it gets going, holy shit man

[31:55] The whole thing becomes this force of chaos where things just get intense and exciting Monkey Man is a miracle movie, this movie exists against all odds and against the will of the industry

[32:08] And for that alone, it is an important movie, it's pregnant, it's smart and unbelievably entertaining If you haven't seen Monkey Man, do yourself a favor, watch it

[32:21] And number one, Diabolik Diabolik is a French noir mystery thriller directed by the legendary Henri-Gelge Clouso

[32:38] and released in 1955 It tells the story of a woman named Christina, who owns a boarding school that is ran by her husband Michel Michel is a tyrannic and abusive asshole who treats the students with cruelty, who bullies his own wife

[32:55] and marks her for suffering from a heart disease that has significantly weakened her And on top of all of that, Michel is also having an affair with his mistress Nicole A teacher at the school, who he also treats like garbage, to the point of being physically abusive

[33:11] Both women live an absolute nightmare with this horrible man feeling trapped in their situation with him And one day, after yet another excessive cruelty from Michel, something in Nicole snaps

[33:25] And she decides to come up with a plan to get rid of the man permanently But to execute that plan, she is going to need Christina's help And so, at the dawn of a new day, the wife and the mistress joined forces to commit a perfect murder

[33:45] They ambush Michel at one of Nicole's houses outside of Paris, learning him after Christina gives him an alarming phone call threatening to divorce him They then drug him and drown him in the bathtub before disposing of his body by moving it back to the school

[34:01] and dumping it into the swimming pool, setting it up to look like an accident while they have the perfect alibi of having been seen out of town the night of his death

[34:13] Their plan is perfect and unbreakable, except something goes wrong The next day, as they orchestrate for the kids to find the body in the pool, they find nothing

[34:28] To Christina's and Nicole's absolute horror, Michel's body has disappeared And they do not know why If the body is not in the pool, it means somebody moved it or worse, it means they fail to actually kill Michel

[34:47] From this point on, things take a very strange turn when the duo's investigation leads them to increasingly shocking discoveries that put them in further danger

[35:01] This movie is actually quite sinister, and as a mystery thriller, it was quite subversive at the time it came out Debotyk has elements in its storytelling that get so dark they border on horror

[35:13] There is one masterful scene towards the end that made me think damn People in 1955 weren't used to horror movies and stuff like that audiences must have been fucking terrified watching this in theaters

[35:28] And the writing of the movie in itself is just so fucking insane The way the story has to make you feel tense for so many different reasons is honestly really impressive And it makes the intrigue captivating from the actual mystery to the dynamics between the characters

[35:45] The entire scene where Michel arrives at the house and he tries to convince Christina not to divorce him and to return to pairs with him Oh my god, this is the kind of writing current filmmakers need to take inspiration from

[35:59] The way these two bounce off of each other is so good The dialogue shows just how devious and manipulative Michel is It's expertly written and you can tell he's a man who doesn't care about anyone but himself

[36:15] There is in an ounce of empathy in his bones he's an opportunistic piece of shit with no morals Every word out of his mouth is a manipulation, the literal definition of gaslighting

[36:29] He has this way to talk to his wife to not only shut her down but to make her feel like she's crazy and unreasonable for even thinking about leaving him And you see the slow shift in the power balance throughout the entire scene and how he adapts to it

[36:46] When Christina is able to hold her own, Michel acts like a lost puppy determined to find a way to save his marriage And he makes her feel like she's abandoning him trying to make her feel pity for him

[36:58] But the second he gets the upper hand in the argument and gains her sympathy His tone becomes more aggressive and he immediately starts to talk down to her again Calling her names and giving her orders to regain his dominance over her and attempt to reestablish his dominance and make her docile

[37:18] It is fucking evil and the scene is so well constructed So well written that it really feels like you're right there in the room with them and it feels incredibly tense This movie is just unbelievably good man, it's fucking amazing

[37:34] The story is so incredibly badass, the mystery is so compelling, so well thought out, it keeps you guessing to the very end The twists are fucking insane and the cinematography

[37:49] Oh, I mean, look at this Just look at this my guy, this movie has so much aura It's such a flex, there are movies made today for hundreds of millions of dollars that look like absolute garbage compared to this

[38:09] And look what they did 70 years ago with like $5 in a wooden box Peak creativity, peak artistic vision, if you haven't seen Diabody, it is one of the most influential movies of its time

[38:24] It has aged so incredibly well, it is one of the pillars of modern horror, do yourself a favor and fix that Go watch this movie, I'm pretty sure you can watch it for free on YouTube
