New Velotric Summit 2 Hybrid E-Bike - Best E-Bike of 2026?

[00:01] was the Velotric Summit 1. And guess what? We just got a sequel. This is the Velotric Summit 2, and it has some major upgrades, including more torque, a example, you can ride in what they're calling pulse mode, where you connect

[00:15] the included heart rate sensor, and the bike intelligently adjust the assistance based on your heart rate for heart rate based training. So, in this video, we'll do an acceleration test, a hill test, a battery test, and more. This bike is

[00:27] components, as you can see here. And as a hybrid e-bike, you can ride it pretty trails, mountain trails, commuting, or just casual rides in the bike lane. It's a highly capable and yet very comfortable and accessible bike for all

[00:54] before we get into anything, let's get started with the speed and range fast and how far can it go. So, this has an adjustable top speed. In settings, you can choose anywhere from 12 to 28 mph. It's rated class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike,

[01:10] so depending on where you are, class 1, you can pedal with assistance up to 20 mph. You could pedal faster, but you don't get assistance beyond that. Class 2 is the same as class 1, but you also have a throttle up to 20 mph. And then

[01:24] class 3 gives you pedal assistance up to 28 mph and a throttle up to 20 mph. But like I said, you can limit that top speed as low as 12 mph in the app. It's also rated for over 70 mi of range with just the throttle or 95 mi using pedal

[01:40] my international friends, my kilometer friends out there. But let's talk about the design now. There's two different sizes. I personally love this design. I like the hybrid e-bike style where you can ride it off-road, you can take it on

[01:52] just ride it on a regular bike trail. And this has two different sizes. You've got the regular size for anyone who's maybe 5 ft 2 up to 5 ft 10. And again, well. And there's a large size as well. It's the one I got, which is good for

[02:07] 5'7" up to 6'5". I'm 6'2". This was incredibly comfortable. It's very adjustable as well. So, the handlebars, you can change the angle to choose essentially how high and how close they actually are. The seat is obviously

[02:19] comfortable bike to ride. The max capacity for this bike is also very high in my opinion, 440 lb. A lot of other e-bikes I test are in like the 300 to 350 range. So, this is going to be more accessible for more riders or riders

[02:35] can see we have an optional bike rack. So, I opted to have that on there. You have a really nice solid fender on the back. The front also has a fender, which that one. We've got a headlight on the front. I'll get into a headlight test in

[02:49] integrated taillights, which are also blinkers, as you can see on the bottom. So, it's not going to be up on the rack, and you notice like blinkers on an rare. It's getting more common now, but it's something that I like if you're

[03:02] riding in low-light environments or on a road or a bike lane, it's just nice that you'll still use your arm to turn, but having a blinker makes you more different, honestly really sweet colors. I had a hard time choosing them, but uh

[03:15] is what I have and what you're seeing in this video, and glacial silver. Now, other kind of cool specs about this bike, 27 and 1/2 inch Kenda puncture resistant tires. Really nice treads on them. So, as I said, comfortable to ride

[03:29] on a trail if you wanted to. They're wide enough for that, but also grippy grass or some dirt, no problem at all. You have a lockable front suspension. power up a hill, you can lock that out, but you have a lot of suspension travel

[03:43] suspension enabled, you really get a lot of cushion on this bike. The battery is rated for IPX7 water resistance, which is very, very high. All right, so I want of going over the bike again, you can see we've got the charging port right

[03:56] here, but you can also charge it if you take the battery out on the bottom. battery secure, and you know, you don't have to worry about theft. We also have can mount right there. Uh we've got the rear rack, as I mentioned is optional,

[04:10] but it holds up to 66 lb. The optional fender on the front, the air suspension, which is adjustable, and you can lock it out, as I mentioned, if you're going up a steep hill. Really nice-looking bike all the way around. Ergo handles on the

[04:22] top. We've got a bell right here if you need it. We've got really nice-feeling brakes, throttle on the left side, shifter on the right side, nine-speed Shimano shifter. You can see the derailleur, and you know, the chain,

[04:34] as well, very durable. And then the entire bike is IPX6, so this should be good from a water perspective. If you're riding in the rain, I wouldn't be removable, and you can lock it or unlock it, so you have a key. That way, if you

[04:49] apartment or your office and bring just the battery in to charge, you can this bike with Shimano derailleur and shift levers. We've KMC X-Glide chain, so you can even see like it's a pretty nice-looking chain on here. Aluminum

[05:04] alloy handlebar, seat post, brake levers, crankset, and rims on here. And that headlight, like I said, is 500 lm, so let's get into a little headlight like in a darker environment. Watch this, this is the auto headlight.

[05:18] So I go in. There we go, just turns on. Like it detected that it was dark, and it turned on. That was impressive. So, let's do a headlight comparison. This is the Summit 1. You can see it's

[05:30] kind of a focused beam. It's bright. It It would It would do all right. All right, so the Summit 2 is without a doubt brighter, a little bit more of a cooler light, I would say. The other one is a little more yellowish. Uh this This

[05:45] is flatter, it seems like it's more controlled, has a definite angle there, covers more of a space. So, I mean, side-by-side, let me know what you think. I'm going to say this this definitely looks significantly brighter.

[05:57] It's also adjustable, of course. Um when you assemble this, you can choose what find it's actually pretty bright and usable riding on trails at night. Also, total bike weight on this, 57 lb. So, even though the battery is removable, if

[06:11] you wanted to carry this inside or upstairs, totally possible. It's not as light as the Ultra Light models Velotric offers, but also for a Class 3 e-bike impressive that it's under 60 lb. Now, let's talk about the actual riding

[06:23] experience. When you're talking about the assistance, you have cadence or you could ride this. Cadence is basically like if you're pedaling and how fast are you pedaling is going to correlate to the the assistance you're

[06:35] getting, whereas torque is going to feel much more responsive and much more like you just have really strong legs and you're able to pedal a lot better. So, workout with torque mode, which a lot of people I think would really appreciate,

[06:47] responsive, whereas cadence is going to be better if you're on a flat road, time, but you want to pedal a little bit, you don't want to go full throttle, then for each one, you have four different riding modes from eco all the

[07:01] way up to boost, uh and that's going to essentially be how much assistance pulse mode as I mentioned before. So, there's this included heart rate sensor, The way it works is it's just like a nice Velcro strap on it. Uh you can see

[07:15] inside, similar to what you'd see on like a smart watch, for example, but wear it up on like your forearm, so it should be more accurate on your forearm is going to be bending around a little bit as you're riding the bike. This is

[07:29] also a 750 W motor with 1,300 W of peak power and 100 Nm of torque, which is most popular bikes out there. Like the Aventon Level 3, for example, is rated for 60 Nm, the previous generation, which I absolutely love, the Summit 1,

[07:44] was 90 Newton meters. And then even the electric XP4 is only rated for 85 Newton said, I think we should probably just get into a hill climbing riding test and an acceleration test to see just how good this actually is using throttle.

[08:20] going to look like it on camera, but 15's not bad. That's pretty impressive. 15's not bad. That's pretty impressive. 16.

[08:40] Looks like we're doing a pretty steady 16 miles an hour. We're at 80% battery, torque mode, custom, so top speed possible on this. We're in boost mode, throttle only. 3 2

[08:55] Whoa, it actually lifted my front tire off there for a second.

[09:25] Looks like we're topping out at about 27.8. Okay, so let's talk about the features of this e-bike. So, not only is it going to be a pretty solid e-bike from the spec standpoint as you can see riding

[09:39] mechanically awesome, but one of the main reasons I think people would be buying this bike in particular is for the features that it comes with. So the big thing like I said. So if you're using the little 2-in LCD on the left

[09:54] navigate fairly easily. So there is an app. The app is very useful, but you can do things like set up the heart rate sensor directly from that little screen easy that is because there are I think like six or seven buttons over there. A

[10:09] easier to navigate. This works with Apple and Android uh finding network. So Apple find my for example should be good for theft prevention. And if you want to prevent theft even more, there's an NFC card to unlock this for added safety.

[10:24] That is optional. You don't have to have that enabled. I personally don't always carry around a card with me. So I have that disabled, but if I'm going to park somewhere and you know you lock it up and I don't know. It's just going to be

[10:36] pedal away with this if your bike is not able to just turn on and you know ride super easy. You just tap it to unlock and you don't have to worry about like a have a key for the battery as I mentioned before for theft prevention.

[10:50] here, this connects by Bluetooth. Super easy to set up. You can name your bike. do all of this from the bike as well and I'll show you that in a second. But we wanted to. I'll talk about that in a second. We've got our four different

[11:04] modes. You can choose if you're a class one, class two, or class three. Check out your local regulations to make sure you're choosing the right one. This is you wanted to. So class two, maybe you want your pedaling to only go up to like

[11:17] there. There's also a custom mode if you enable it down here, which essentially just goes as fast as the bike possibly can. This is more of an off-road or private trail kind of mode. So you don't want to use it just anywhere, but it is

[11:30] enable that. We also have uh the experience down here. You can choose if you want to go more smooth or more fast and aggressive. And the throttle sync, this. It'll give you a little more detail about that. But, basically,

[11:42] You can also choose if you want to use torque or cadence sensing on this. So, if you're riding on flat ground and you really don't want to try too hard, you effort, cadence might be the right option for you. If you want something a

[11:57] even want to get a work out of this, torque is going to be, personally, my right here, which is based on the ambient brightness. It'll just turn the really impressive. You could manually

[12:10] need to. You have the auto power off. So, with you when you walk away from the bike, do you want it to turn off after 5 minutes, 60 minutes, or not at all? You I mentioned, because you have an ambient brightness sensor on there, it's able to

[12:23] off, but also adjust the screen brightness. And you can set up some ride firmware for pretty much everything, the Bluetooth, the battery, the controller. So, that way if anything, you know, is updated from VeloTric, you can get that

[12:37] in the future. And then, of course, we have the controller here. So, you've got going to be your blinkers. You can see right there, left blinker and right blinker. It also beeps, and it doesn't just stop blinking after like 2 seconds.

[12:50] done turning and you hit that button again. I really appreciate that it flashes and beeps, so you don't actually leave your blinker on. On the top, we and our down. You can see that's switching between the different modes

[13:02] right there, the assistance levels. On the very bottom, there's a button down between your different classes. So, class 1, class 2, or 3, or custom. Kind with the black text right there. You're going through the different modes. And

[13:16] show you some different displays here. And if we press and hold it, it'll bring the speed limit here if you didn't want to do it in the app. You can go to pulse on and off. So, if you're using the throttle, cruise control, I have it set

[13:31] throttle for long enough, it'll enable You don't have to hold this down the entire time. That's actually pretty that you know it's on or off, so you don't accidentally, you know, let off

[13:44] think it's really useful though. So, let's go back by hitting the back We've got sensor swap. So, all the stuff that I showed you in the app, you can also choose here. And you can set up the NFC card as well. So, let me go and turn

[13:57] this on right now. I'm going to go over and turn that on. We'll go down to card already came with the bike. You can see card number three, you're able to bind other ones down there. If you buy another just generic NFC card, you want

[14:09] you can see right here, all I have to do is tap this. All right, so now if I power this on, you'll see that I need the card to unlock the bike. You are going to lock up the hubs or anything, but um you're not able to use it as an

[14:24] e-bike unless you go and tap this. So, it's not really like theft prevention, not really going to be particularly to get away quite as quickly. I guess another benefit of that. But, you know,

[14:37] NFC cards are a cool option with this bike. So, that is the Velotric Summit 2, an impressive e-bike that not only looks really good, but also performs quite features on there like pulse mode riding, a lot of different options for

[14:51] want to ride casually and just have the e-bike assist you? Or do you want to put in a workout and just go a little further and a little faster, but still get the nice burn in your quads and the good heart rate improvement as well. So,
