AI Summary

This video explains key power scaling terms used in versus debating, such as attack potency, speed, durability, and other factors like intelligence, range, and stamina. The host uses examples from anime and his own story to illustrate how to scale characters based on feats and statements.

[00:16]
Attack Potency (AP) vs Destructive Capacity (DC)

AP is the energy a single attack can produce, not necessarily its destructive output. Example: Bang from One Punch Man has Mountain level AP because he can harm Elder Centipede, a mountain-sized monster, even if his punches don't destroy mountains.

[00:58]
AP Scaling for Characters Without Destructive Feats

AP is used to scale characters like Goku, who lack direct destructive feats but can damage characters who have such feats. This allows scaling beyond planetary levels.

[01:22]
Speed Categories

Speed includes attack, combat, reaction, travel, and flight speed. These may correlate differently depending on the series.

[01:50]
Durability and Newton's Third Law

Durability often scales to AP via Newton's third law: if a character can exert force without harming themselves, they should be as durable as their attack. Example: Bang.

[02:28]
Intelligence, Range, and Stamina

These factors are crucial in close matchups. Intelligence should be based on feats, not just IQ. Range is the reach of attacks, and stamina is endurance for prolonged battles.

[03:20]
Scaling Example: Diamond

Diamond is a Speedster with light-speed scaling based on dodging a light beam and statements. Her AP is scaled from an opponent who could end the world (multi-continental) and a feat of destroying an island.

Power scaling involves analyzing attack potency, speed, durability, and other attributes using feats and statements. The video demonstrates how to scale a character from the host's own story, emphasizing the importance of consistent evidence.

Tutorial Checklist

1 00:16 Understand Attack Potency (AP) as the energy output of an attack, not necessarily its destructive capacity.
2 01:22 Categorize speed into attack, combat, reaction, travel, and flight speed, noting they may correlate differently per series.
3 01:50 Apply Newton's third law to scale durability to AP unless contradicted by the series.
4 02:28 Evaluate intelligence, range, and stamina based on feats and statements for close matchups.
5 03:20 Scale a character by combining statements and feats: e.g., Diamond's speed from dodging light, AP from scaling to an opponent's world-ending threat.

Study Flashcards (5)

What is the difference between Attack Potency (AP) and Destructive Capacity (DC)?

medium Click to reveal answer

AP is the energy a single attack can produce, while DC is the actual destruction caused. AP can be higher than DC if the attack focuses energy on a small area.

00:16

How does Newton's third law apply to durability scaling?

easy Click to reveal answer

If a character can exert a force without harming themselves, they should be as durable as their attack potency.

01:50

Name the five speed categories mentioned in the video.

easy Click to reveal answer

Attack, combat, reaction, travel, and flight speed.

01:22

Why is AP scaling used for characters like Goku?

medium Click to reveal answer

Because Goku lacks direct destructive feats, but he can damage characters who have such feats, allowing scaling beyond planetary levels.

00:58

What is the minimum AP level for Diamond based on the statement that Peridot could 'end the world'?

hard Click to reveal answer

Multi-continental level, as 'end the world' could mean surface wiping or destroying all life.

[00:00] hey everyone it's your boy Zev here and

[00:02] today I'm going to be explaining all the

[00:03] power scaling terms in this one

[00:05] comprehensive video I'll be using some

[00:07] definitions and examples from different

[00:08] websites so just Buckle in and let's

[00:10] enjoy don't forget to leave a like

[00:11] comment subscribe and check out that

[00:13] donation link if you want to request a

[00:14] video starting with arguably the most

[00:16] important term we have attack potency

[00:17] attack potency not to be confused with

[00:20] DC or to start the capacity is the

[00:22] amount of energy or distracted capacity

[00:23] a single attack can't produce a good way

[00:26] to break this confusing line of

[00:27] reasoning down is using a character like

[00:29] bang for one punch man bank has the

[00:31] power to harm and damage Elder centipede

[00:33] a mountain sized monster with an equally

[00:35] durable shell this would give bang

[00:37] Mountain level AP but it doesn't mean

[00:39] that this same Punch or attack has been

[00:41] shown to destroy a mountain or even

[00:42] could just harm those with durability or

[00:45] AP or distract capacity Feats similar to

[00:47] that AP is basically the damage or

[00:49] energy equivalent of a destructive feat

[00:51] we use AP mainly because not every

[00:53] character has destructive Feats to give

[00:55] them proper scaling for example if we

[00:58] only use destructive Feats of people

[00:59] like Goku and Dragon Ball Z not super he

[01:01] wouldn't have any solid Feats based on

[01:03] who he defeats making it hard to argue

[01:05] him above even planetary in the blue

[01:07] Saga when we look at who he's able to

[01:09] damage and what those same characters

[01:10] can destroy and withstand will use AP

[01:12] scaling to give Goku his proper scaling

[01:14] and ranking the most commonly used chart

[01:16] comes from verses about a Wiki and every

[01:18] single chart with its energy amounts

[01:19] required to achieve are in the

[01:21] description speed is simple it doesn't

[01:23] need much breakdown as a topic but does

[01:25] have some subsections speed is of course

[01:27] how fast a character can move within a

[01:29] given period of time while speed is

[01:30] usually a general topic it doesn't have

[01:32] to be broken down into categories unless

[01:34] a series specifically States or makes it

[01:36] clear there are different types of

[01:37] speeds the categories are attack combat

[01:40] reaction travel and flight speed in most

[01:43] verses you can correlate combat and

[01:44] attack speed with reaction speed while

[01:46] other categories vary but overall this

[01:48] is a series by series basis another

[01:50] self-explanatory category durability is

[01:53] the amount of force or energy a

[01:54] character can withstand without pretty

[01:56] much dying or being severely injured in

[01:58] a lot of series character's durability

[02:00] will scale to their attack policy by

[02:01] using Newton's third law but like all

[02:04] things this will vary on a series to

[02:05] series basis

[02:07] essentially if someone can exert a force

[02:09] without harming themselves they should

[02:10] be as durable as the attack refer back

[02:13] to the bang example in terms of AP

[02:15] from here we can get into terms like no

[02:17] selling tanking or withstanding which

[02:19] all account for someone taking little to

[02:21] no damage or having little to no effect

[02:22] on themselves from an attack scaling

[02:24] their durability to or above set attack

[02:26] our last two self-explanatory categories

[02:28] are things like intelligence range and

[02:29] stamina these factors are most important

[02:31] in close matchups and versus battles

[02:33] where small differences can make the

[02:34] difference for who wins the battle

[02:36] of course intelligence is how smart a

[02:37] character is which can vary per series

[02:39] and shouldn't be matched merely off IQ

[02:41] or just blatant statements and it's more

[02:43] so something you want to go off of

[02:44] intelligent Feats range is of course

[02:46] range how far a person can attack or

[02:48] reach with their attacks hacks or magic

[02:49] depending on what series is and stamina

[02:52] of course is the endurance or longevity

[02:54] someone can battle or fight or exert

[02:55] their full AP over a give us at a time

[02:57] now I like to go into things like hacks

[02:59] resistances and you know different

[03:01] dimension scaling and tiering but I

[03:03] think I'm going to say that for a

[03:04] different video however for fun I'll be

[03:06] asserting a character from a story I'm

[03:07] working on and I will show you exactly

[03:09] how to scale them and this will also

[03:11] help you guys scale characters from

[03:12] other actual series or maybe even your

[03:13] own if you don't care for this feel free

[03:15] to leave a like and sub before clicking

[03:17] off the video if not buckling because

[03:19] this is going to get really interesting

[03:20] for this power scaling example I'll be

[03:22] using my character Diamond a modified

[03:24] blessed human hybrid to show how

[03:26] statements and fees can scale for each

[03:27] category in the story red diamond is

[03:29] considered the Speedster of the verse it

[03:31] stated multiple times that if she moved

[03:33] at top speeds during a rescue mission

[03:34] while carrying a hostage the houses

[03:36] themselves would disintegrate from her

[03:38] speeds this is hard to calculate but we

[03:40] do know she scales above the speed of an

[03:42] attack described as a beam of light that

[03:44] came from a literal star along with a

[03:46] lot of consistent statements we can get

[03:48] diamond speed to at least light speed

[03:51] moving to AP focus on how I scale this

[03:53] using other people's Feats since Diamond

[03:55] has yet to show her full power in the

[03:57] series

[03:58] Diamond faces off against a character

[03:59] named Peridot who she states could end

[04:02] the world whether this is surface wiping

[04:04] destroying or killing all organic life

[04:05] this will at bare minimum be a

[04:07] multi-continental feat it's implied that

[04:09] she was simply going to wipe away the

[04:11] entire Village however which was only

[04:12] Island size and was defeat a stronger

[04:15] character was casually prepared to do as

[04:17] we said earlier if there are no

[04:18] contradictions you can safely give her

[04:20] durability equal to her attack potency

[04:22] which would land her either at Island

[04:23] level to multi-continental depending on

[04:25] your interpretation I can go more in

[04:28] depth about things like hacks but I'll

[04:29] stop here for the sake of making a

[04:31] separate video about these topics for

[04:32] you all to enjoy

[04:34] if you guys enjoyed this type of video

[04:35] and like you know the more educational

[04:37] stuff about power scaling and not me

[04:38] just telling you who beat two leave a

[04:40] like and comment down below what I

[04:41] should talk about next I think the next

[04:43] video I will go over things like hacks

[04:45] resistances and uh probably dimensional

[04:48] tiering since those are things people

[04:49] don't really understand you know

[04:50] different levels of infinity and stuff

[04:52] like that but if you enjoyed this video

[04:54] and maybe watch your own video made look

[04:55] into the description there's a bunch of

[04:57] things down there to tell you all about

[04:58] how you can donate to get your own

[04:59] videos made as well as the sources for

[05:01] the video that you know I made today all

[05:03] the things I use in this video it's your

[05:05] boy's there so I think oh peace thanks

[05:07] for watching

[05:13] thank you
