AI Summary

This video is a comprehensive tutorial on setting up Vbridger, a plugin for VTube Studio that enhances face tracking using iPhone's ARKit. The creator explains what Vbridger is, the required hardware and software, and walks through the entire setup process. The tutorial also covers parameter adjustments, troubleshooting common issues, and tips for achieving natural-looking facial tracking.

[0:11]
What is Vbridger?

Vbridger is a fast tracking plugin for VTube Studio that uses iPhone's ARKit for more accurate face tracking. Created by arton and exerp.

[0:22]
Requirements for Vbridger

You need a Vbridger-rigged model, a tracking device (iPhone, webcam, or Android), and tracking software like iFacialMocap, Face Motion 3D, MeowFace, VTube Studio Nvidia Tracking, or MediaPipe.

[0:49]
Setting up Vbridger with iPhone

Select tracking software, enter iPhone IP address, click 'Connect to Phone'. Then in VTube Studio, enable plugins and click connect in Vbridger, then allow the popup.

[1:45]
Webcam and MediaPipe Setup

For webcam, choose Nvidia Tracking or MediaPipe, click Start, and calibrate if needed. Webcam tracking does not support separate jaw tracking.

[3:11]
Vbridger Parameters Explained

Parameters include Mouth Smile, Mouth Open, Jaw Open, Shrug, Lip Press, Funnel, Pucker, Cheek Puff. Each tracks specific mouth movements.

[5:33]
Adjusting Mouth Smile Parameter

Adjust input range based on your natural expression values. Lower values make expressions trigger more easily; higher values require more effort. Use Limit Range for smooth transitions.

[7:04]
Matching Mouth Open and Jaw Open

Mouth Open and Jaw Open must have the same values to avoid a 'dislocated jaw' effect. Adjust threshold to control mouth closing speed.

[11:52]
Using Vbridger Presets

If mouth barely moves, try different Vbridger presets (e.g., ARKit 3.0) from the Load folder. These adjust overall sensitivity.

[13:12]
Puppeteering Tips

Exaggerate facial movements and practice puppeteering. Sing along to songs and watch your model to improve tracking quality.

[14:25]
Hardware and Placement Tips

Excessive facial hair can hinder tracking. Glasses may cause issues but not always. Place phone below or above monitor, tilted toward you. Use a phone stand. iPhone 11 and up recommended; used iPhones work fine.

[00:00] hi this is light and I'm the riger of

[00:02] the scores premade that we will be

[00:03] releasing soon since this model supports

[00:06] V Bridger we got a bunch of questions

[00:07] all about V Bridger so I'm here to

[00:09] explain as much as I can first of all

[00:11] what is V Bridger V Bridger is a fast

[00:13] tracking plugin for vtu Studio that

[00:15] allows for more accurate face tracking

[00:17] using the iPhone's AR kit tracking it is

[00:19] created by the arton and exerp what do

[00:22] you need for V Brier obviously you will

[00:24] need a model with v Bridger riging V

[00:26] Bridger ATT tracking device like iPhone

[00:29] webcam or Android ATT tracking software

[00:31] like ey facial Mo cap face motion 3D

[00:34] meow face VP Studio Nida tracking or

[00:36] media pipe when you first open a v

[00:39] Bridger via steam you're going to see

[00:40] this little window pop up which can look

[00:43] very confusing at first if you don't

[00:44] know what's going on but setup is

[00:45] actually a lot easier than you might

[00:47] think first you're going to go ahead and

[00:49] select whatever tracking softare you're

[00:50] using for tracking in this case I'm

[00:52] going to use ey facial map with my

[00:54] iPhone next you're going to look for

[00:56] your iPhone IP address usually that can

[00:58] be found in your Wi-Fi settings but in

[01:01] the case of IAL moap it is popping up

[01:03] right after you open I moap simply put

[01:07] the IP address in this little window

[01:08] right here and press connect to phone

[01:11] once you have that connected you will

[01:12] see that the head is now moving in order

[01:15] to connect VB with vtube Studio you need

[01:17] to make sure that you have plugins

[01:18] turned on in vtube studio to check

[01:21] simply go to the

[01:22] settings and the first icon scroll down

[01:26] until you see the vtube studio plugin

[01:28] just make sure that it's turned on once

[01:30] you have confirmed that it is turned on

[01:31] in vtu studio go back to V Brier and

[01:34] click on the little connect button on

[01:35] the bottom right in vtu studio there

[01:38] will now be a little popup window asking

[01:40] for Access simply click

[01:42] allow and boom now you connected with re

[01:45] Bridger if you want to connect with your

[01:47] webcam it's similar setup as the iPhone

[01:49] setup simply choose the tracking serfer

[01:51] you want to use first people will use

[01:53] Nidia tracking click Start and then this

[01:56] window on this little guy will pop up

[01:59] please ignore how laggy it is for me I

[02:01] have a really old webcam that does not

[02:03] track properly

[02:05] okay if you notice that you are looking

[02:07] a little bit to the far right even

[02:09] though you're looking straight ahead

[02:11] click simply calibrate and then boom

[02:13] easy done next up is Media pipe again

[02:18] simply click on the media pipe click

[02:21] Start and then there will also be

[02:23] tracking again same thing if you're

[02:25] looking to the side even though you're

[02:26] looking at the front make sure to just

[02:28] click calibrate

[02:30] only downside to webcam tracking is that

[02:33] um it does not

[02:34] support a separate jaw tracking so you

[02:37] cannot do stuff like um like the doie

[02:40] bird jaw like the shocked face please

[02:43] also ignore how funny the tracking looks

[02:46] right now I'm normally using iPhone the

[02:48] parameters I'm normally using do not

[02:50] work with webcam so I would technically

[02:51] need to go into V studio and adjust them

[02:54] just like with any other model you will

[02:56] need to make sure that the movement fits

[02:58] your own movement the riger will already

[03:01] have the model set up but according to

[03:03] their movement so the way they move may

[03:06] not be the way you move so for V Bridger

[03:08] in this case we will look for those

[03:11] parameters mouth smile mouth open jaw

[03:14] open shr lip press funnel pucker cheek

[03:19] puff I will go over what they do uh one

[03:22] by one first is mouth smile mouth smile

[03:25] is already in the name it tracks your

[03:28] mouth form AKA either smiley face or sad

[03:31] face mouth open is obviously the mouth

[03:34] open like the ah ah ah jaw open is for

[03:39] the jaw tracking also like

[03:42] the the chewing shr is the like a little

[03:47] like a little pouty

[03:48] face where your mouth moves upwards lip

[03:52] press is either like a Tey

[03:54] smile or pressing your lips together

[03:59] funnel is a little o like a little kissy

[04:02] phrase

[04:03] o pucker is again either shrinking your

[04:07] mouth a little together for more kissy

[04:09] or widening your mouth if you

[04:11] smile cheek puff

[04:14] is puffing your

[04:17] cheeks first up mouth smile feel free to

[04:20] copy all of my V settings to see if they

[04:22] work for you in case they don't we will

[04:25] now go over how to adjust them so if you

[04:27] see this and you're wondering what's

[04:29] going on don't worry I will explain so

[04:32] first on the left side you have the

[04:33] input which is the tracking input on the

[04:36] right side you have the output which is

[04:37] the which is the parameter in life 2D

[04:40] the Red Dot over here is the tracking

[04:42] input with a range that we will adjust

[04:44] later on the right side you have the

[04:46] output with the ma maximum and minimum

[04:48] of the life Tod parameter and then we

[04:50] have limit range limit range makes sure

[04:53] that the little red dot does not exceed

[04:55] our input this will cause the value to

[04:58] stop smoothly When approaching the limit

[05:01] then we have smoothing as the name says

[05:03] it will smooth the movement but it will

[05:05] also cause some sort of delay so for

[05:08] example if I now put my smoothing on

[05:10] 100% on my mouth you can see the mouth

[05:13] tracking suddenly becomes lot less

[05:15] accurate and snappy so in case of mouth

[05:18] I like to put it at either zero or one

[05:22] uh one for me personally because I like

[05:24] a little less Snappy M and I like a a

[05:26] little bit of SM like a little bit of

[05:28] like Smooth like transition

[05:31] so for mouth smile you want to start

[05:33] smiling and see what number you hit on

[05:34] the very

[05:35] left in my case it's Z it's 0.95 so I

[05:39] put that in here please note that the

[05:41] higher the number the more work you have

[05:44] to put in with your face in order to

[05:47] smile and the lower the less you have to

[05:50] smile so for example if I were to put it

[05:53] at let's say

[05:55] 0.7 I have to do a lot less work IRL to

[05:58] start smiling

[06:01] and just the slightest smile will

[06:03] trigger to go up and start tracking the

[06:05] full-on

[06:07] smile same we will do for the frowning

[06:10] or like the sad

[06:12] [Music]

[06:15] mouth let's say from

[06:19] 0

[06:25] [Music]

[06:27] 09 that's why I like the it's a bit too

[06:30] extreme for me

[06:33] right I don't like how fast or like how

[06:36] extreme that mouth goes into sad mouth

[06:39] I'm just going to keep it at zero

[06:40] because then I have to I would need to

[06:43] put like a little bit more work in to

[06:44] like start frowning but I like the way

[06:47] it looks for me I just put it at zero

[06:50] again play around with these numbers to

[06:52] see what fits best for

[06:53] you and then I limit my

[06:57] range and then next two mouth open same

[06:59] thing over here I'm going to unlimit

[07:01] these for you first

[07:04] so important thing to know that when you

[07:08] um adjust mouth open you want to make

[07:10] sure that you have the exact same

[07:12] numbers in jaw open that is because jaw

[07:15] open checks separately from the mouth

[07:18] open meaning the mouth open is simply

[07:20] just the movement of the O A going from

[07:24] close to ah open the jaw is like the

[07:27] inner mouth movement so or stuff

[07:31] like the jaw moving up and down so if

[07:34] the numbers don't match you can encou uh

[07:37] encounter something called dislocated

[07:39] jaw where it looks really funny and

[07:42] really weird where your jaw is not

[07:45] moving in line with your act mouth which

[07:48] can look a little bit funny so make sure

[07:51] that if you adjust these that they match

[07:55] again same for open mouth the lower this

[07:57] number is the less work you have to put

[07:59] it into opening your actual mouth please

[08:02] don't put it too low because that can

[08:05] result into some very Snappy mouth

[08:07] movement for example if I were to put at

[08:11] two that goes like this and I don't want

[08:13] this because I still want it to look

[08:15] natural and not like I

[08:16] am going

[08:20] crazy so again just talk normally and

[08:23] see what number you're usually hitting

[08:24] when

[08:25] talking the reason I put this to 0.08 is

[08:29] for the mouth to uh close a little

[08:31] earlier just so I don't have like little

[08:34] cuz I tend to have my mouth open a

[08:36] little bit while thinking working

[08:38] whatever so this is like a little

[08:39] threshold for me where the mouth opens a

[08:41] little H closes a little faster than if

[08:44] I put it on zero I can show you guys

[08:47] what looks like on zero the mouth closes

[08:50] a little bit um later now than what the

[08:53] before and I don't want that personally

[08:56] so I just put it a little bit higher to

[08:58] like 0.08

[09:00] so the mouth closes a little

[09:04] earlier next up is shrug which is again

[09:07] the moving your mouth up like a

[09:11] pout simply again same thing over here

[09:15] check what number you hit when you go

[09:17] [Music]

[09:21] pout

[09:23] around7 we could actually adjust that if

[09:26] you want some Snappy snappier truck I

[09:29] can

[09:30] go and

[09:34] now I go I go

[09:36] Snappy again I personally don't like

[09:39] that I want a less Snappy and more like

[09:42] I put more work to hit the

[09:45] maximum as you can see over here the

[09:46] output I hit the out the maximum output

[09:49] a lot faster if I put it at seven at 7

[09:52] than if I put it at

[09:55] one again personal preference adjust how

[09:58] to your liking

[10:00] lip press lip press is again either the

[10:03] smiley face which is the one up on top

[10:05] the or the on the bottom go smiley face

[10:11] and see what number you're

[10:13] hitting and go and then press your lips

[10:17] together to see what number you're

[10:18] hitting and adjust to your adjust

[10:21] accordingly again I put these at my

[10:23] numbers you go you go you you do you

[10:27] funnel is the little kissy mouth that I

[10:29] like the O sounds

[10:31] o

[10:34] o again same concept here do like a

[10:38] little old

[10:39] face next up is Packer same thing Packer

[10:42] again either widens the mouth and

[10:44] smiling so if I were to put this at the

[10:47] lower number

[10:49] so

[10:51] three my mouth would widen a lot

[10:55] more this only mostly affects when the

[10:58] mouth is closed instead of when the

[10:59] mouth is open uh so yeah uh upper the

[11:03] upper number is for like the widening of

[11:05] the mouth while the lower number is for

[11:07] like the posing together more

[11:11] H and then cheek puff cheek puff as the

[11:14] name says you cheek your you puff your

[11:18] cheeks again check what number you're

[11:20] hitting when you go cheek

[11:25] puff and put it in there something also

[11:28] read in the Twitter comments is that

[11:29] someone adjusted all of the rudo

[11:31] parameters but their mouth still barely

[11:33] moved and there's actually a little

[11:35] small thing for that that could help you

[11:38] that you probably didn't know

[11:40] about so in V Bridger you have this

[11:43] little thing over here says Bridget

[11:45] which is the name of her of the little

[11:47] gorgeous lady over here and then

[11:48] something called safe and load important

[11:52] for us is the load in this case which

[11:54] will open this little

[11:56] folder and also kill our tracking from V

[11:59] Bridger has a bunch of V Bridger presets

[12:02] which affect these things over here so

[12:05] the default will be Advanced AR kit

[12:07] settings V Bridger which is also what

[12:08] I'm using personally again personal

[12:10] preference this is all personal

[12:12] preference but there are a lot more with

[12:14] the newest being a kit version

[12:17] 3.0 these all have different kind of

[12:20] settings and sensitivities so just for

[12:22] example go with the two

[12:25] 2.0 and you can see it's a lot different

[12:28] and a lot like more reactive than the

[12:31] before if it's too reactive just go back

[12:33] to vtube Studio check the settings you

[12:36] need to check all of the settings not

[12:38] just the mouth as you can see the face

[12:39] the entire body is a lot more reactive

[12:42] now to just the smallest movement you

[12:44] will need to go through all of your

[12:45] vtube studio settings and check all the

[12:47] parameters and adjust

[12:49] accordingly if for some reason this is

[12:52] still you're like I still don't like

[12:53] this go back to this um for example try

[12:57] the 3.0

[12:59] and then see if it STS more to your

[13:01] liking again go ahead and adjust

[13:03] everything to your liking and see what

[13:05] works best for you another important

[13:07] thing to add us while setting up your

[13:09] parameters is important puppeteering is

[13:12] just as important you have probably seen

[13:14] it all over Twitter people complaining

[13:16] oh I got V Bridger I got this I got that

[13:19] but it doesn't look good it doesn't look

[13:21] the same as others and that is because

[13:23] you're not moving your face right B

[13:25] Bridger tracking is a lot more sensitive

[13:28] and accurate to your IR tracking than

[13:31] normal tracking as because you have a

[13:33] lot more range of movement now right you

[13:35] have like different facial movements you

[13:38] can do different mouth shapes you can do

[13:40] and those reflect your IRL movement a

[13:42] lot more so it is important to open your

[13:45] mouth exaggerate your mouth movement

[13:48] Unleash Your Inner anime girl and go

[13:51] ham I can only recommend pulling up your

[13:55] V model like a lot and just look look at

[13:59] it talk sing along every musical sing

[14:03] along just move move your mouth you it

[14:06] will be high at first I personally still

[14:09] struggle with it a lot I'm still

[14:11] practicing myself it will hurt your face

[14:15] if you just start doing it but it is so

[14:17] important for a really good looking and

[14:20] great

[14:21] looking great looking facial tracking

[14:25] there are some things that can make

[14:26] tracking a little harder one is

[14:28] excessive facial hair if you have a full

[14:30] beard tracking may not look as good for

[14:32] you as it does with others since the

[14:34] it's hard to track with a beard covering

[14:37] up most of the mouth or just like being

[14:39] in the way another thing I've heard a

[14:41] lot are glasses I myself I wear a

[14:43] glasses IRL I have not encountered any

[14:46] issues so far with for example eye

[14:48] tracking um but that's because I mostly

[14:51] probably in a well L room I have the

[14:54] kind the type of glasses uh where it

[14:56] doesn't reflect the light part um

[14:59] so I personally didn't have any issues

[15:02] so far with that another thing that I've

[15:04] seen a lot is the question where to

[15:06] place your phone so the best placement

[15:09] would technically be straight ahead of

[15:10] you but most of the time that would't

[15:12] work because you have your monitor in

[15:13] front of you probably so the setup of

[15:17] the phone is kind of depends on your own

[15:20] um monitor setup I personally have it a

[15:22] little like below my monitor facing

[15:25] pretty much straight still um at me uh

[15:29] um I've also seen people putting theirs

[15:31] above their monitor face uh like tilted

[15:34] down a little bit uh which I heard can

[15:37] work better for people that have like

[15:40] very pronounced Jaws um so it's

[15:43] basically just a lot of like checking

[15:46] replacing and seeing again what works

[15:48] best for you another thing I saw is um

[15:52] the question on how to keep your phone

[15:54] in the same position and I can highly

[15:57] highly highly highly recommend

[15:59] those phone stands from Amazon I have

[16:02] this one which look a little bunny which

[16:04] I thought was cute even though you

[16:05] cannot even see the bunny ears but any

[16:08] phone stand will do to keep your phone

[16:10] in place again I do recommend one that

[16:13] uh can also like you can tilt your phone

[16:15] maybe like up and down a little and just

[16:17] adjust it a lot more now question is

[16:20] what iPhone is best for tracking iPhone

[16:23] first introduces the whole AI kit and

[16:25] facial ID for the iPhones with the

[16:27] iPhone 10 so yes you can get an iPhone

[16:29] 10 for tracking I don't recommend it

[16:32] though because it it is the first phone

[16:34] of theirs that has that tracking so it's

[16:37] not as good as the newer ones no you

[16:39] don't need to get the new iPhone 2500

[16:42] million Pro Ultra for tracking anything

[16:46] after anything after iPhone 10 like

[16:48] iPhone 11 and upwards will work just

[16:51] fine I myself I'm also using an iPhone

[16:53] 11 just for tracking you also don't need

[16:55] to get a super new iPhone just for

[16:57] tracking if you already have an iPhone

[17:00] you can use that I got myself an iPhone

[17:02] just for the purpose of tracking since I

[17:04] already have a perfectly working phone

[17:06] but it's an Android so I I cannot use

[17:09] that for tracking I did not buy as

[17:12] myself a new phone I got myself a used

[17:15] phone um via refurbished I don't know if

[17:19] if it's global Shipping I know it

[17:22] shipped to Germany which they basically

[17:24] they have old the used phones and then

[17:26] they make them look new and resell them

[17:28] whatever you can also just look on eBay

[17:31] or wherever you can buy used electronics

[17:34] and see what works best uh so you don't

[17:38] need to go out and buy a brand new

[17:40] iPhone for this it can be used if for

[17:44] just if you just using it for tracking

[17:46] it does not need to be brand new I also

[17:48] saw the question if V Bridger works with

[17:50] 3D models and I've read that it does I

[17:53] cannot really talk about it much because

[17:55] I don't have a 3D model or one that

[17:57] supports AI kit or V briger so I would

[18:01] definitely go out and check on YouTube

[18:03] on Reddit or uh anywhere in the internet

[18:07] to see if PE like how to connect it

[18:09] there how to make it work cuz I wish I

[18:11] could show it to you guys but I don't

[18:12] have a 3D model like that if you ran

[18:15] into any problems for troubleshooting I

[18:18] highly highly recommend joining the vber

[18:20] Discord they have a whole section just

[18:23] for traveles shhoting and they're super

[18:24] helpful I've been there before as well

[18:27] because some issues I can highly highly

[18:30] highly recommend going there for

[18:31] troubleshooting if you have any other

[18:33] questions feel free to ask them I will

[18:36] try to answer them if not again the do

[18:38] Discord is always available they're

[18:40] super helpful and I can only recommend
