[00:00] One thing that I've been thinking with this vlog is that each episode should have a topic of some kind. So it's like, what is this one about? Just kind of wandered around downtown, did a few different meetings. So I guess it needs a topic.
[00:19] And I think the topic for today is why I started the vlog. One reason I started it is because I was watching a vlog by Nathan Cottney, who is the CEO of
[00:34] Hi-Rise, another good software company. And he talked about how talking into a camera as you're out and about downtown is kind of
[00:46] embarrassing and how it's good to be embarrassed from time to time. So that's probably what pushed me over the edge to doing it. just that idea that you know walking around talking to a camera is weird and you should get used to being weird the second thing is I wanted to push the
[01:01] limits of the content I was creating so I've done a lot of writing and I've done a lot of other types of things but I've kind of moved past that part in my career I used to be a full-time focus so now it's time to do more new types of
[01:15] content and I think the vlog is a good challenge the third reason is that I
[01:31] feel like I've been in a little bit of a cave lately where you know I'm focused entirely on engineering focused on building our product and I haven't been and out there and doing marketing. And I like putting out new content, pushing the limits,
[01:46] you know, we talked about that, but I like building my audience and doing things like that. So this is a way that I can learn new stuff, try out a new medium and also build my audience and connect with everyone that I already connected with I guess
[02:11] There was a fourth reason but I can't remember it right now. But maybe in a second.
[02:24] I remember the fourth reason. The fourth reason is that I want to showcase Boise. So Boise is a great city. I love it here and I want to show more people about it
[02:36] especially because we have this conference coming up and so I want people to be excited about coming to visit Boise and see that it's an amazing city. There's a lot to see and there's a lot of reason to love it. It's part of
[02:48] the reason we're doing the conference in Boise and you know I had quite an uphill battle to convince a handful of people on the team that Boise is the city that we should do this conference in. And so a lot of the part of this vlog is just to show you what I love in Boise.
[03:05] So yeah, that's it. I'm at the speaker's dinner now. I'm going to go in, be here for all of 30 minutes, and then go play soccer. Soccer game's over.
[03:17] Ended up being able to use the practice field for an hour, so we just played soccer for basically two hours straight. It was great fun. Unfortunately, we lost the game. That team out of the four teams that I play on doesn't tend to do that well, but I should have won that game and lost it.
[03:34] Oh, well. But headed home now. It's like 9.15, and it's late. I'm going to play soccer tomorrow night. I think I play a lot of soccer.
