[00:03] Ryan and this is 20 wonderfully ridiculous questions ridiculous questions with me.

[00:17] He's an American football player that used to play for the Atlanta Falcons.

[00:29] is a pirate. No, Edward Kenway is a prospector. He's a man. He's a boy. He's a lad from Wales who wants to do better for himself

[00:41] and his family and is willing to do whatever it takes to up his life, to level up, to uh to find a way to provide for his family like most of us are just trying to do, right? And he believes that he will find that in fame and

[00:55] glory, in riches, in gold. And ultimately his journey leads him to him discovering his real moral compass. And then what Edward Kenway becomes is not then what Edward Kenway becomes is not just a pirate, but a pirate assassin

[01:10] just a pirate, but a pirate assassin with a creed. of the form and half of the main I've run this hurricane. >> That's a great line. the one that I can't repeat, but uh you know, I think

[01:26] can't repeat, but uh you know, I think he'd be I think he'd be a good rapper. in the scene of his uh of the sea shanties with his crew? Who says that he's not? >> What is my favorite sea shanty? I have a

[01:42] couple actually. Uh one is what should we do with the drunken sailor? I used to sing that growing up. I think they used to teach it to us in school. And my other um favorite one is Leave Her Johnny. But the one that always sticks

[01:57] in my head is I'll say farewell to those old Spanish ladies. I say farewell to the rivers of your and actually I think that that sea shanty if I remember correctly is in the movie Jaws. >> And Robert Shaw, the actor Robert Shaw's

[02:11] character starts singing it. So that haunting sea shanty. haunting sea shanty. Hallelu.

[02:24] don't think they are, but uh we are known for our singing in Wales. Yeah. So in Reynct there are uh there is a pet that is added to the jack door which I

[02:37] think is amazing. You can either have a cat or a monkey. I would have a monkey cat. No, sorry. I would have the monkey just because I think it would be more useful. It's more agile. They can kind of like do more things for you. And uh

[02:52] bit aloof. You know, when you want love from a cat, they normally like walk off and don't uh don't give it back to you. Whereas, I think a monkey would be there more emotionally for you. So, yeah, I'd go full monkey.

[03:05] Edward Kenry can finally crouch. Yeah, you know, he's had a stiff back for the last 13 years and uh now he can finally crouch. No, I think it's a great feature forward to everyone using that feature to be able to crouch whenever they want.

[03:20] coming back to a character that I portrayed um 13 years ago. That's actually more I just feel humbled and honored and uh really excited for everybody to play the game and to go on the journey with Edward Kenway. uh all

[03:37] the people who played it before for them to rediscover Kenway and for the people who haven't played it for them to discover it for the first time. What's changed about the process of um me coming back to this character is the

[03:51] technology is is so much better than it was when we originally did the game and it was great then. I think that the original game still stands the test of time now, but um with today's technology, it's just amazing uh what

[04:04] they can do these days. uh uh the mocap suit when you do motion capture that is much more comfortable. The helmet is much more comfortable. I'm just really and see how today's modern technology has been brought into this game and uh

[04:19] the new anvil engine that they're using has blown my mind and I expect it will do the same for the fans. Peg, leg, eye patch or hook all at the

[04:31] Peg, leg, eye patch or hook all at the same time? >> Captain Edward. Oh, no, no, no. I would say probably really historically my

[04:45] favorite pirate of all time is Blackbeard. This guy really created a Blackbeard. This guy really created a persona for himself which projected fear and struck fear into the hearts of his enemies. And uh what a character. What a

[04:58] enemies. And uh what a character. What a pirate. Because everything that Tim Curry has ever done is my favorite anything.

[05:10] Especially Legend, the movie with Tom Cruz. I am the Lord of Darkness. Now, how did Edward's eyes get so blue? I suppose it's looking at all that

[05:22] I suppose it's looking at all that Caribbean water and those blue skies in the Caribbean of which he lived and spent all of his pirating years and spent all of his pirating years and days.

[05:35] eyes. Look at my eyes. Look at my eyes. >> Brownie green. >> I'll let you decide. Oh, pour him another shot of rum and ask him to climb to the top mass to release the sail so that we could move to the

[05:49] next destination. Do you know actually there's a reason why sailors drunk rum and not vodka and not whiskey. And I mean probably because of the sugarcane the reason that I think that they had rum is because there's a difference

[06:04] drunk on whiskey, and getting drunk on rum. You know, if you get drunk on whiskey, people get a little bit aggressive. And with vodka, it can be aggressive. And with vodka, it can be the same. But if you get drunk on rum,

[06:17] you'll climb the top sale for anyone. >> And if you're drunk on gin, you just get >> Yeah. Well, no, actually, you don't because gin they used to call back in the day mother's ruin because when the fertility rate was so low and uh uh

[06:32] mothers used to sadly lose their babies, the doctors would prescribe them gin. Ain't that crazy? Do I believe the myth about pirates and eye patches? I think this is the myth when they put one patch over their eye

[06:48] when they put one patch over their eye to accustom that said eye to the darkness so that when they go below deck, they just like close that eye and flip the eye patch up so that they can see in the dark. Do I believe it? Um,

[07:01] no. Have I seen Bravo's Below Deck? No, I have not. You know, I didn't really know how much of an impact uh Edward Kenry, this character, was going to have. I think

[07:16] when you do anything, you kind of really apply yourself to that job and and that to try to bring it to life and to try to serve the story. Um, but ultimately I didn't really have any idea that this character would become such a beloved

[07:31] fan favorite. And um, I'm grateful to everybody who's played the games for that. And also as a gamer and as a fan and as an actor performing that that he goes on is really really special. And um, I'm excited for for

[07:46] everyone to to revisit or to discover for the first time this character within the Assassin's Creed franchise. I just want to say to the fans of AC4, thank you for being along this ride with this character, Edward Kenway, and

[08:02] this character, Edward Kenway, and myself. I, like you, I think, uh, uh, have loved being a part of this character and his journey. Uh, and I the ride with me. And I'm really excited for you to play Assassin's Creed Black

[08:18] Flag Reync. Uh, I think you're going to love it. I've played it. It's off the As a gamer, as a fan, I love it and I'm sure you will, too. So, I look forward sure you will, too. So, I look forward to seeing you all soon on the high seas.
