Accessing Mouse Input Settings

In VTube Studio, on the right side, there is an option for mouse input range. You can edit it to make the face follow the mouse.

[1:11]
Setting Face Angle X to Mouse Position X

Select face angle X, write 'Mouse', then change to position X. Moving the mouse left/right moves the face left/right.

[1:27]
Setting Head Angle Y to Mouse Position Y

Set head angle Y to Mouse position Y so the head looks up and down with mouse movement.

[1:48]
Setting Angle Z to Mouse Position Y

Set angle Z to Mouse position Y for head tilt. Adjust smoothness slider to control speed.

[2:29]
Body Rotation Z to Mouse Position X

Set body rotation Z to Mouse position X so the body moves with the mouse. Adjust smoothing as needed.

[2:54]
Mouth Open with Voice Volume

Select mouth open plus volume or voice volume plus mouth open so the mouth moves when speaking.

[3:20]
Mouth Smile to Mouse Position Y

Set mouth smile or mouth form to Mouse position Y to add expressiveness: moving up makes the model smile, down frowns.

[3:47]
Auto Blinking

Select auto blinking for the eyes.

[4:00]
Eye Movement to Mouse Position

Set eye X to Mouse position X (invert with -1 if needed) and eye Y to Mouse position Y so eyes follow the mouse.

[4:29]
Brow Movement

Set brow to Mouse position Y so one brow goes up with mouse movement.

[4:41]
Creating Custom Expressions

Go to expression editor, create new expression (e.g., eyes looking right), assign a hotkey, and set fade time.

[6:48]
Final Adjustments and Personal Preference

Adjust sensitivity and smoothing to personal preference. The rest is up to the user.

By following these steps, you can control any VTuber model in VTube Studio using only a mouse, making it ideal for art streams or gaming without a webcam. The tutorial emphasizes that the technique works with any model and encourages viewers to experiment with settings.

[00:00] so people have been wondering about this

[00:02] um where you're controlling a mouse and

[00:05] the model moves to it and you can see

[00:07] the kind of the face is detecting my my

[00:09] microphone there's no webcaming

[00:10] connected to this at all like you could

[00:13] see um and I could use hot Keys like you

[00:15] know I be

[00:17] like or so I'm going to show you how to

[00:19] do that real quick um first things first

[00:21] uh this works for literally every model

[00:24] you don't need like any fancy model to

[00:26] do this with um and just to prove my

[00:29] point

[00:30] uh we're going to go do this with uh the

[00:33] basic live Tod vtuber model now know

[00:37] that the app is vtube studio so you do

[00:40] need to do this in vtube studio

[00:44] um so yeah right over here you're going

[00:46] to see there's this option on the right

[00:50] of the mouse input range let me move

[00:52] myself so you can see it a bit

[00:54] better there we go so yeah in vtube

[00:59] studio already there is a feature to

[01:01] detect your mouse input and you can go

[01:03] edit this however you see fit um so

[01:06] simply if you want to make the face

[01:08] follow the mouse you can go in the

[01:11] settings here and just make sure you're

[01:13] selected here and see stuff where it's

[01:15] like face angle X you just write Mouse

[01:18] and then you can change it to position X

[01:20] and you'll see when I move the mouse

[01:22] left and right it'll move the face left

[01:24] and

[01:25] right same thing for

[01:27] here so Mouse angle

[01:30] y or head it excuse me head angle y you

[01:34] can set it to Mouse position Y and like

[01:38] so you'll see now the head can look up

[01:41] and down see that which works perfectly

[01:44] fine next for angle Zed I like to set

[01:48] angle Zed to Mouse position

[01:51] Y and you'll see It'll move that but as

[01:54] you can see it's a bit quick so you can

[01:55] click the see this little slider with

[01:57] smoothness you can adjust this and and

[02:00] just adjust it whatever you'd like so I

[02:01] like to make it slow so it kind of you

[02:03] know like pops up like that maybe it's

[02:05] looking up a bit too much so you can

[02:07] also change the settings right over here

[02:10] so like let's say I want it to go up a

[02:13] bit less I'm going to change it to minus

[02:16] two so now um it's going to go up but

[02:19] very barely which gives it this kind of

[02:21] like look that the head's tilting up and

[02:25] it adds like a nice little contrast of

[02:27] believability for body rotation I

[02:29] believe this is body rotation Zed right

[02:31] yep for body rotation Zed uh I like to

[02:34] do mouse position X and now the body

[02:37] will move uh with the mouse and it's

[02:41] moving a bit much so again adjust the

[02:43] smoothing right and now you'll see it

[02:46] looks like the body is moving with the

[02:48] mouse right the other thing we're going

[02:51] to do is we're going

[02:54] to go to the mouth open so how do you

[02:56] make it check your voice simply select

[02:58] mouth open plus volume or voice Volume

[03:02] Plus mouth open select that and now

[03:05] you'll notice whenever I speak it'll

[03:07] move with this

[03:10] um it's not very often I use an anime

[03:12] girl model very rare um but yeah so

[03:18] that's how you do it like that now we

[03:20] have the mouse smile the other thing I

[03:22] personally like to do is I like to set

[03:25] um just for kind of personality I like

[03:28] setting Mouse or mouth smile or mouth

[03:31] form to Mouse position y so if I move

[03:34] the thing up the model smiles and I move

[03:36] it down it frowns that way we can add a

[03:38] bit of expressiveness you'll you'll see

[03:40] it more in my models uh this one is just

[03:44] the

[03:45] mouth oh actually one thing before we

[03:47] stop uh for blinking just select auto

[03:50] blinking there you

[03:52] go perfect we have the eyes we have to

[03:56] move the eyes around so let's go do that

[03:59] we're going to go

[04:00] move there we go so iix set that to

[04:03] Mouse position X boom and it's going the

[04:07] opposite way so we're going to go set

[04:09] that to minus one and now the eyes will

[04:12] move with the face same with the ey y

[04:15] set that to Mouse position y boom and

[04:18] there you go forgive me if I'm moving a

[04:21] bit too fast um do go back in the video

[04:24] if it's you know a bit too quick but it

[04:27] pretty much it's all that stuff browse

[04:29] you can also do the same thing I'll do

[04:30] mouse position Y and then one brow will

[04:33] go up as you can see now there might be

[04:36] stuff where you don't like the

[04:37] expression you know maybe you want the

[04:39] the face to do a certain something you

[04:41] can go inside here and select the

[04:42] expression editor and click create new

[04:45] expression and here we have the new

[04:49] expressions and we're going to say what

[04:52] if what if I want the eyes to look right

[04:55] right like you know we're not always

[04:57] going to want our model to look so let's

[04:58] say you know eyes looking right now we

[05:01] can create a button we're going to says

[05:03] button I right I'm going to press

[05:07] save and what we can do now here at the

[05:10] bottom is we can click the

[05:13] expression we can do eyes what an I

[05:17] right and I'll make a button let's do J

[05:21] and we'll do stop one keys let go and

[05:23] set the fade for seconds .25 and now the

[05:27] model's looking around but now we can

[05:28] make get the mod model oh

[05:31] whoops did I save

[05:33] properly no I'm using the wrong button

[05:36] there we go so yeah I could press it and

[05:38] then you know now the model is looking

[05:40] left we could do this you know same

[05:41] thing for let's say blinking right

[05:45] closing your

[05:49] eyes so let's

[05:54] say i

[05:57] l i right and was let's do close eyes

[06:01] there we go so now we have the button

[06:04] for close eyes I like to set this the

[06:06] eyes closing to

[06:07] control it just I don't know why that

[06:09] feels best for me but you know um set to

[06:13] whatever feels natural to you the only

[06:16] reason I'm using this model as an

[06:17] example is this model is already

[06:20] pre-installed live 2D so you know you

[06:22] can you can use this as a as a quick

[06:25] little demo thing there we go so yeah

[06:27] you know I can be singing like la la la

[06:30] or you know do whatever joke I want um

[06:33] and yeah I think the body is leaning a

[06:36] bit too far to the

[06:38] right okay now is the part of the video

[06:40] where I'm just going to go ramble I'm so

[06:43] sorry I'm so sorry yeah so this

[06:48] is um the rest is just up to your

[06:50] personal preference by now you should

[06:52] know how things are done and how you

[06:54] know you can kind of like do all the

[06:56] things for your model uh I think this is

[06:59] great for for art streams but maybe some

[07:00] video games if you use a controller I

[07:02] don't

[07:03] know i' I'd rather just like make the

[07:06] vtuber toggle set to your controller

[07:08] hotkeys instead of your mouse hotkeys

[07:10] which there are plugins for that I

[07:12] haven't used it personally but I know it

[07:15] exists where is oh it's all the way to

[07:18] the top here you go Mouse position Zed

[07:22] uh yeah so it's moving a bit too far to

[07:24] the right so I'm going to say two and -2

[07:28] and now that's just going to make it you

[07:30] know less sensitive and there you go

[07:33] already like this is the this is the

[07:35] model and it's now you know tracking the

[07:37] mouse and this is not a model that was

[07:39] designed for Mouse tracking and you can

[07:41] do this with any kinds of model I'll

[07:43] show you my model this is my model and

[07:47] this is the same kind of deal happening

[07:49] so here we go like this is just the

[07:51] Alpine model that I'm pretty sure my

[07:53] community is pretty familiar with

[07:56] and it does it it does its job right

[07:59] right it does the

[08:01] job of course the mouth tracking I think

[08:04] the thing I'm not a big fan of is the

[08:05] mouth tracking you know it's so obvious

[08:07] that it's like not accurate but like hey

[08:10] you know what it's better than like

[08:12] setting up all the pain for everything

[08:14] so yeah or yeah it's hard to control I

[08:18] hope this video helps you out do

[08:20] consider if you do like me making more

[08:24] of these tutorials on how I do things do

[08:26] you consider donating me on Kofi and

[08:28] writing the message please make more

[08:30] tutorials on the Kofi because if you do

[08:33] that I'll see it and it supports me um I

[08:37] I saved saying that for the end I hate

[08:39] tutorials that that say it all in the

[08:41] beginning you should know by now you

[08:42] should know by now how it's done um if

[08:45] you skipped to the end hoping that the

[08:46] tutorial will start uh you missed it it

[08:49] was at at the beginning of the video all

[08:51] right thank you hope this helps out good

[08:54] luck

[08:56] guys
