This video explains the recent nerf to Ash's passive ability in Apex Legends, which previously allowed for an infinite slide chain. The creator demonstrates the nerf's mechanics and provides strategies to work around it, such as extending slide duration and using different movement patterns.
Ash's passive ability, which grants an extra long slide, has been nerfed in season 29. The nerf prevents chaining slides back-to-back infinitely.
Ash's passive allowed for an infinite slide chain by using tap strafes to redirect, making her hard to hit while shooting. This was considered super broken.
The nerf adds a cooldown to the slide chain, so you can't chain slides back-to-back quickly. You slow down and eventually stop if you try to chain too fast.
To get around the nerf, extend how long you hold the slide before tap strafing back. This gives you a speed boost and allows you to chain slides again, almost infinitely.
The nerf makes it harder to chain slides in close quarters because you need extra space to maintain speed. Fast chaining is now impossible in tight fights.
Instead of sideways movement, you can move forward and backward (like Coach Frosty) to control recoil, or move diagonally to force tracking while maintaining speed.
Strategy 1: Use long slide engagements to get off many shots. Strategy 2: Start slide jumps further away from the corner to return sooner without losing speed.
Pre-plan your slide path to avoid over-sliding into the open. If you try last-second, you'll be slow on the return and vulnerable.
Despite the nerf, Ash's slide can still be abused with the right technique—extend slides, use varied movement, and pre-plan your path to maintain speed and effectiveness.
What was Ash's passive ability before the nerf?
An extra long slide that could be chained infinitely using tap strafes.
00:16
What did the nerf change about Ash's slide?
It added a cooldown, preventing quick back-to-back slide chaining.
01:13
How can you get around the nerf?
Extend the slide duration before tap strafing back to regain speed boost.
01:54
What movement patterns are recommended instead of sideways?
Forward/backward (like Coach Frosty) or diagonal movement.
03:15
What is the second strategy for using the slide?
Start slide jumps further away from the corner to return sooner without losing speed.

Nerf adds cooldown
Explains the core change that breaks the infinite slide chain.
01:13Workaround: extend slide
Provides a practical technique to bypass the nerf.
01:54Alternative movement patterns
Offers versatile movement options to maintain speed and control.
03:15Pre-planning is key
Emphasizes the importance of planning to avoid vulnerability.
04:48[00:02] gotten nerfed in Apex Legends after the season 29 I'm actually going to show you how to get around the nerf so that you can continue to abuse her absolutely broken abilities this season. But first, what
[00:16] actually even got nerfed? As you guys hopefully already know, Ash's passive ability is an extra long slide and similar to how Horizon has more control in the air when she jumps and she tries to strafe around, Ash has that same
[00:30] ability but with her slides. But what made her super broken is because she has made her super broken is because she has this insanely long extra slide, you were able to chain the slides back to back to back, basically giving you an infinite
[00:46] slide. So basically in this clip here that I'm showing, I was able to slide off to the side and then use a tap strafe to redirect myself back into the direction that I came, continuing my slide. And I could do that over and over
[01:00] much infinitely. As long as you're able to tap strafe correctly and you don't bump into a wall or something, you could literally do this until your hands fell off. And this was super broken because you would be able to use this to slide
[01:13] in and out of cover while being able to shoot your gun. You could keep yourself in the open and be hard to hit the entire time that you chose to be out in Like I'm not even a good movement player
[01:25] successfully. Now, what is the actual nerf? They made it so that you're no longer able to chain the slides back to back to back. Now obviously right now back, but as you notice, I'm getting slower and slower and slower. And
[01:40] eventually I'm going to completely stop. Now, just because you can't chain them back to back very quickly, doesn't mean that you can't chain them back to back at all. As you can see right here, even when I slow down I get this big speed
[01:54] boost back and then I get right back into a slide. Now, the way that you're going to actually be able to get around this nerf is simply by not trying to change your jumps too quickly. If you chain too quick, you'll eventually run
[02:07] out of speed and you won't give yourself that boost back. But, if you extend how long you hold your slide out and then try to tap strafe back, it actually gives you that boost back and it's almost like you can go back to
[02:21] doing this infinitely again. They basically kept the ability to chain your slides infinitely, but they almost added a cool down as to when you were allowed to come on back. Now, this on its own is already a fairly decent nerf. The reason
[02:35] why I still consider this a good enough nerf is because you're going to need a lot of extra space if you still want to be able to tap strafe back and back and can kind of see right here, like if I don't use almost the entirety of this uh
[02:49] this platform here, I'm going to lose almost all of my speed and it's just quick. So, trying to chain your slides back to back really fast and going to be impossible. Trying to do it in a close quarter fight is going to be
[03:03] work. Like I was saying, the way that you get around this is either chaining your slides extra long sideways, which isn't going to be too useful in majority of situations unless you just have a ton of open room. Another way that you can
[03:15] get around this is by trying to, instead of moving sideways, moving forwards and how he likes to coach moving forwards and backwards to control recoil. Or, you can move diagonally, which gives you a little bit of that tracking technique or
[03:29] a little bit of like forcing people to track you, while also not having to force yourself to move through like a massive open long straight back and forth. Now, ideally, the way that you're going to use this, if you do choose to
[03:43] There's two ways that you can think about using this, depending what gun you to kind of vary between what you should and shouldn't use. So, the first up is when you go to slide, you're going to use a really long engagement while
[03:57] being a really long engagement, you're going to be able to get off a lot of shots. The second way that you're going to use this is by instead of slide jumping off of like the corner right here, which is going to force you to be
[04:09] in the open for a long time before you're able to come back, you're going to use your slide jump a lot further away from where you're going to try and turn back around. So, for example, I'm going to slide up from way
[04:21] out here, that way I can come back a lot sooner. shot, and then come back around, but I won't lose any speed. Come back around, get off my shot, come back around, won't lose any speed. Come back around,
[04:35] get off a shot, come back around, won't lose any speed. And because you started way further back, you're more than likely not going to get punished with the cool down on when you're able to actually get that slide off.
[04:48] like really pre-plan this because if you try to do this last second, it's going to force you to over slide out into the open before you're able to come back. speed, and then I was really slow on the return.
[05:11] the speed boost is that when you hit it, it just throws you so insanely fast. So, like trying to get off that shot or like trying to track someone is just so, so, so hard. So, yeah, there you go. They just nerfed Axel, but you can still find
[05:27] a work around. You just need to have a really long strafe sideways or push forward and back with your strafe like Coach Frosty, that way you can still kind of like push past and make them
[05:41] track you a little bit. You're just going to have to like really force yourself to commit, over commit almost, for a lot of these different almost, for a lot of these different fights.
