AI Summary

The video addresses the common issue of players getting instantly killed (one-tapped) in Valorant, breaking down the underlying causes and providing actionable advice. It covers five main reasons: standing still in common angles, re-peeking the same angle, jiggling off angles with disadvantage, incorrect pre-aiming, and rushing shots. The coach emphasizes the importance of angle advantage, crosshair placement, and intentional peeking.

[00:40]
Standing still in common angles

Common angles are pre-aimed by enemies. Standing still makes you an easy target. Instead, jiggle the angle to gather info and avoid being one-tapped.

[05:58]
Re-peeking the same angle

After jiggling and spotting an enemy, do not re-peek the same angle in the same way. The enemy's crosshair will be glued to that corner. Mix up your peeks (crouch, wide, etc.) or fall back.

[09:09]
Jiggling off angles with disadvantage

If you are holding an off angle where the cover is closer to you (angle disadvantage), jiggling will cause the enemy to see you first. In such cases, stand still and react.

[12:43]
Incorrect pre-aiming when peeking

Pre-aiming the wrong spot leads to over-peeking or missing shots. Always slice the pie slowly and clear angles intentionally, especially when you lack info.

[14:36]
Rushing your shots

Rushing shots leads to losing first bullet accuracy. Be intentional with your shot selection. If caught off guard, keep moving instead of stopping to shoot, to avoid being an easy target.

[17:53]
Crosshair placement based on angle type

For common angles, hold tight to the wall. For off angles, hold wider. Adjust based on the distance and the direction the enemy is peeking (horizontal vs diagonal).

To stop getting one-tapped, you must understand angle advantage and adapt your positioning and crosshair placement accordingly. Avoid standing still in common angles, don't re-peek the same way, and be intentional with your peeks and shots.

[00:01] getting one tapped the instant you peek? Like you don't even have a chance to perfect aim or like you're just constantly running at smurfs. [music] about angle advantage or maybe your mechanics aren't that terrible, but

[00:15] what's actually going wrong? I was breaking this down in one of our office hours inside the Immortal map program and let's just say most players are missing something really simple. This isn't a fast-paced TikTok video, but if

[00:28] you do stick through with it, I promise you you'll understand what the actual issues are and how to finally stop getting one tapped every single round. >> First off, it's actually over the first reason and this is just like very basic,

[00:40] heard about it before, but I want you guys to be able to see from both my just what it looks like when you're holding and peaking angles. So the very first reason why you might be getting one tapped is standing still in common

[00:55] angles. So a common angle is just like any angle that an enemy could be holding So for instance, like that corner right there where Duxson's standing. If I were

[01:08] to just peek this angle, a lot of times like common angles are pre-aimed, you know, when when you're peaking out. So if I pre-aim this spot, right? And Duxson's holding it. Sure, like Duxson might have [music] the

[01:20] reaction time of a god and just like one tap me as soon as I peek him, but in this game, no matter how much Riot has tried to, you know, deal with peeker's advantage, it still does exist, right? So if I were to peek and swing him, if

[01:35] you'll notice that he appears on my screen just a tad bit earlier than I appear on his screen. So if I were to be pre-aiming this angle and it's a com- it's a very common

[01:51] angle, right? And he was just standing still like that, most of the time I will him, right? Well, that's one of the reasons why you might be getting one-tapped. And so, if you are actually going to play a common angle, doesn't

[02:04] even have to be this one, right? But, let's say like this is a this is another playing tree, let's say like we plant the bomb right here, default, right? And there's enemies coming from from main, you know, whether it's like stairs or

[02:17] whether it's, you know, a grass. Like like let's say like I'm just holding, right? And Duxsen, you can like try to peek me and I'll just like stand still. not even ready for that, right? Like my my crosshair was up here. So, yeah, like

[02:32] a lot of times enemies will either, you know, just commit to the swing or even like crouch peek the common angle. And so, if you are just standing still, you will get absolutely owned. And so, you have to be aware of when you are playing

[02:47] common angles on various parts of the map. And if you are playing those common angles, you want to be jiggling them. So, if I'm like holding A main, you know, from all the way back here because let's say like my teammates

[03:00] like the nades or like the stuns or whatnot, and it's just like me having to I'd probably just want to like be jiggling this a little, you know, and if

[03:12] that enemies are coming, so let's just say like the round starts and then I see Duxsen, um going to fall back and try to play like another like second common angle like

[03:27] damage and then fall back, you know, and try to take these fights, you know, instead of just like like standing still, right? So, that is an example of how you should not be holding common

[03:43] the common angles. All right? And if you are also holding common angles, let's say like you're playing with an operator. It's a very good idea it it because a lot of times people will be aiming at head height,

[03:57] right? As they swing the common angle, it's probably better to actually just like crouch, you know? Crouching common angles. Uh, and fall back, you know? Then you crouch again.

[04:10] placement. Just so that like you can actually take the shots uh, without uh, having a very high risk of getting especially especially if you are offing um, since enemies will be expecting you

[04:25] to be holding these common angles, right? So if you are going to hold these common angles, make sure that you're not just standing still standing up. Now, and you just need to spend more hours more time to fix this issue and you'll

[04:39] rank up. And because of that, ranking up sometimes can take ages, right? But what we actually noticed is quite different. If a player knows what they need to work on and gets hands-on help from our team of radiant and VCT coaches, they can

[04:51] of radiant and VCT coaches, they can actually rank up 500 RR in just 6 weeks. In fact, 80% of the players that we coach reach their promised rank within just 6 weeks. And if you want proof and testimonials, we've got hundreds of

[05:04] program, you'll join a 10-week personalized program that's already helped thousands of players rank up. We offer 100 plus hours of hands-on coaching with one-on-ones, mechanic drills, private scrims, all of our

[05:18] softwares and tools to track your progress and make ranking up inevitable. And in fact, we're so confident in our coaching that if you don't rank up 500 RR in 10 weeks, we'll give you a full refund. And to maintain the highest

[05:31] quality of coaching possible, we only allow a few players to enroll per season. So use the link down below in the description to see if there's a spot available and to book a call with me or one of our coaches to see if we'd be a a

[05:45] fit. Now, back to the lesson. So, that was a pretty basic one, but now what do you do, right? If you're trying to hold the common angle properly by jiggling it, but if you do this, right? And so, this is the second reason why you might

[05:58] be getting one tapped often [music] is because once you jiggle this first angle, right? You a lot of people, like instead of falling back like I showed, you might be making this mistake of actually

[06:10] it, right? Because you saw an enemy. But, why is that not a good idea, right? Especially in a case like this where you know, enemies are coming out of the Uh they could be holding you, right? As soon as they see you jiggling, they're

[06:24] going to be glued around this corner. [music] And in between your jiggle, there is also a slight gap in info, right? Like Like in between the jiggle, like you know, we could be scaling up,

[06:38] crouched like holding this, right? And they could be scaling up and you might they could be scaling up and you might not be ready uh for wherever my position may be if you're just jiggling in and out of this constantly, right? So, once

[06:52] once you do jiggle, once you do get the info, do not re-peek the same angle from the same position in the exact same way, especially if if you don't have enough info of what the enemies are doing, right? Because if it was just like a

[07:06] isolated like one V one situation, it might still be a little bit risky because like in between your jiggle, right? The other person could have like we're Yeah, you're fighting tree and you know,

[07:19] [music] like I see I see Duckson. So, like in between my jiggle, like you see like he could Yeah, he could crouch peek. He could also swing out. And so, yeah, what you want to do instead is once once you've been spotted, right?

[07:35] Once you do get this jiggle, you have you have to think about again how the opponent's crosshair is changing, right? To that info you just gave away. Most likely their crosshair is now going to be glued to the corner, right? Where

[07:49] you where you just were. So, if you were to just do like even like a normal peek, chance that you're probably just going to get uh one-tapped, or it's like a it's like a 50/50 at that point. Um but if I were to, let's say, like

[08:03] now like crouch peek into the angle, right? Or if I were to like jiggle a little bit, bait out a shot, maybe so maybe like bait out a shot, and then I can wide peek, right? And then go for the kill.

[08:16] but it again, it depends on the amount of info that you have. So, for instance, when enemies were coming out of a lobby, if I even spot like one enemy, like

[08:29] I'm probably not going to re-peek this because [music] I don't know now if if there are multiple enemies who are peeking from like high low, right? Like I don't know I don't know the next time I re-peek that same angle. Like I don't

[08:42] know if uh you know, people are up here now, know that. Whereas in like a isolated one-v-one, where you do kind of have to re-peek to take the fight, uh this is like where you probably want to switch

[08:55] up like the way you peek, right? So, whether it's like uh mixing in crouches, peek, those are the things that you want to keep in mind. Okay, so now, there are some cases so so this is like the third reason why you might be getting

[09:09] one-tapped is because there are actually cases where you shouldn't be jiggling the angle, and [music] that's if you're holding an off angle where you do have an angle disadvantage, [music] and that's like when you actually want to be

[09:21] holding still, okay? So, how angle advantage works is right now, if I'm just hugging this wall, Dustyn, can you stop like as soon as you can actually shoulder? Okay. But yeah,

[09:34] Okay, great. Yeah, but right now I cannot see him at all, right? It's because the corner the piece of cover that is in between me and Duxsen if that piece of cover is closer to me,

[09:49] then my shoulder and my legs are going to appear first on Duxsen's >> screen um compared to mine, okay? But now, the reverse is true. So, let's say like he's coming from main or something. Like, Duxsen, can you see me right now?

[10:11] piece of cover that is uh in between me and Duxsen is closer to him, I can see his model uh a little bit earlier than he can see me. So, that means that even if you are playing like some sort of off angle. So, like let's say this is like a

[10:23] like this is like a slight off angle, right? Cuz like if people are coming out to like, you know, coming out of main, you could hug this wall to still clear left, right? But maybe like maybe you think, "Okay, like maybe I

[10:37] could play like slightly slightly off to the to the corner, right?" But if I were the to the corner, right?" But if I were to play this angle, right? I do see him first, but if I were to let's say like be jiggling this this off

[10:52] angle, yeah, exactly. So, if I were to jiggle an off angle like this where I have the angle disadvantage, he's actually going to be able to see me earlier than I will. It defeats the whole purpose of playing the

[11:04] off angle. So, if you're playing an off angle and that means the piece of cover is closer to me, which means I have the angle disadvantage, and I'm jiggling this, Duxsen is going to see me

[11:19] sooner than I I will be able to see him. Or we'll see each other maybe like about defeats the purpose of playing the off angle, okay? So, if that's the case, you have to actually just be stance uh be standing still. Um yeah, and then and

[11:33] then react to him coming out, okay? That's that's what you want to do. Now, this though, you don't have to worry about that as much like if you are playing an off angle where you do have an angle advantage, right? Because

[11:48] here since this piece of cover is closer to [music] the enemies that are coming in from main than here. Even like like he's he's not going to be

[12:03] able to react to me, right? Like he's going to Yeah. And this is like a very good off angle because, you know, as like as you're coming in, a lot of times backside and then you're looking up heaven. And then [music] the gun model's

[12:17] also kind of covering this angle, right? Yeah. So, this is this is fine, right? Like I could I could still play this off angle while jiggling if you want. And this is good, too, because like obviously

[12:29] tree. So, I could like be jiggling this and then like and [music] then be able to react and and strafe and and fight if I need to. So, that's the third reason. The fourth reason why you might

[12:43] be getting one tapped is incorrect pre-aiming when you're peaking. And that can actually lead you to either over peek the opponent or obviously just miss your shot because you end up rushing your shot

[12:56] before being able to readjust your crosshair, right? And actually have our crosshair on the target before we shoot. So, I'll give you an example. Maybe maybe let's say like I was I was playing on A and our team just got overrun, you

[13:12] know? Like like the enemy used a bunch of util, so so I'm like forced off and maybe like I have to um like retreat back to heaven. Maybe like I get smoked off, right? And it's like, "Okay, shoot. Like now I just have to

[13:25] wait for my team, right? And maybe, perhaps, the enemy has like like a Neon or Reyna or just someone who like who really like fast pushed upstairs, you know? So, by the time that I maybe retreated back from heaven and try to go

[13:40] to um the stairs, right? Woah, look at that, right? Notice how like I uh I was preamed down here, but Duckson's already pushed up, right? And Duckson could also be standing in this uh far

[13:55] left corner, too. And so, you might be peeking like this, and then shoot like I'm not ready for him at all, right? So, this is a very very very common scenario our games where we think an area is kind of clear, and

[14:10] there, and then we just get one-tapped, right? And so, what happens is is Well, often times like we have to flick, right? Uh and shoot that shot. If we don't hit that shot, most of the time we're just instantly dead. And so, or or

[14:24] what happens is uh we just start shooting too early, and then we just like whiff our shots completely because now we lose our first bullet accuracy, and we're just like rushing our shots, so we can't land most of our bullets.

[14:36] And yeah, that does tie into the fifth reason why you might be getting just rushing your shots. Does lead to you losing the first bullet accuracy, time to shoot you back, okay? There are a lot of different ways you can mess up

[14:50] your first bullet accuracy in gunfights. First off would be like, you know, like just over flicking, and then like trying to commit to the fight without readjusting your crosshair. So, maybe like if I just start like shooting right

[15:03] away, and then Duckson tries to shoot me back, like he could take a lot more time um to kill me. So, let's say like we fight here, you know? And if I just like start shooting randomly like this, or or I commit to

[15:17] randomly like this, or or I commit to the spray, yeah, so let's just say like I I like flick and then I try to shoot him.

[15:32] right? Like if you if you just start like shooting right away after your first bullet and you just commit to the fight especially at like even like these medium long distance fights, eight out of 10 times you're probably going to

[15:44] lose a fight. So you want to be very careful with your shot selection and being very intentional with your peak. Cuz as you saw earlier like with the off angle situation, like if I was not ready for Duckson right there, I would have to

[15:59] flick and shoot him. And oftentimes, yeah, have a chance to fight back. So what do you do, right? What do you do to avoid those situations? Well, first off, if you don't have any info of where the

[16:14] opponents could be, um this is where you have to be very intentional about just like slicing the pie slowly um and clearing each angle. Right? Like that. Or let's just say like you really were not sure and you saw

[16:28] him, then then instead of just stopping as soon as you see him, keep moving, as soon as you see him, keep moving, okay? So exactly. So let's let's just try that again, right? So like uh let's say I

[16:43] peek and then All right, like he just completely whiffed the shot, right? So if you do get caught in a situation where you weren't expecting an opponent to be there, but they are right there, uh you

[16:56] instead of instead of like panicking and then stopping and then shooting, right? Cuz the moment you do stop on their screen, uh you're basically dead. You're going to have time to react. Like if [music] I just if I just went like this

[17:10] and I saw him, I'm just dead. So even if I'm like slow peaking this, peak this. Like ideally, you know, you do like these like um silent steps just

[17:25] you see him, don't try to like shoot right away cuz the odds of you being able to hit this flick and killing him is very low. But just keep moving and you'll be able to have a better 50/50 fight or even a more advantageous one

[17:39] because now Duxsen like whiffed all the sh- all his shots, so his bullets going to be very inaccurate. Anyone else want to share or even just out of like the >> I guess another thing like where I get one tapped a lot, probably the most is

[17:53] where if I'm in a spot where I know they're going to swing into me, I struggle with knowing like where to put my cross hair like like I struggle sometimes it's just way too far away or I'm too close to the

[18:06] >> Okay. So, this question is uh >> the answer to this question depends on again the type of angle that you're you're holding the angle and enemies are peaking [music] into you, correct? It

[18:21] depends on whether it's a first of all, it's a common angle or an off angle. So, if and also it depends on like the distance, right? How far away the angle is. So, like from this aim in fight cuz it's so far away and models are really

[18:35] into you. So, actually yeah, maybe maybe this this is a better better example, right? Like you probably want to hold like pretty tight. Um not super tight like this cuz then you just won't be able to react at all, right?

[18:49] Like he just swung completely past my cross hair. But again, like there's a chance that like they could just stop right there, too. Um or they could also swing uh past it. So, if that's the case like like this is not a very good fight

[19:02] for you because there's just so many ways that opponents could peak this angle, right? Like they could stop right there. As Duxsen showed, he could wide wide peak. And even if he swings past me, so like Duxsen you can swing past,

[19:15] like because of angle disadvantage, he probably can see Yeah, like I'm getting shot and I don't even see it, right? So, and and people could also even go on top of roof, right? [music] And also peek me from there, too, if I'm if I'm holding

[19:27] If I'm holding this long enough, I'm dead. So, so with these kinds of angles, you probably don't even want to holding this very much or taking a fight here at all, right? You probably need

[19:42] utility to actually take this space to fight it than just letting people walk into the crosshair, right? So, now let's say uh so, this is a So, this would be like a like a common angle, right? Where people can peek out from, right? So, in

[19:58] this case, uh often times people are going to be swinging out and and [music] and stopping themselves, right? Like they're going to peek out and stop, right? So, if that's the case, then you probably want to hold the crosshair a

[20:11] little tight, like this, right? And notice how I'm actually not like standing out like this and placing my crosshair in the middle. But, notice how my crosshair is actually hugging this left wall as close as

[20:25] possible. And then as soon as he peeks, I can just fall back, right? I would just fall back instantly to the to the piece of cover uh and then take another right? Like another.

[20:42] And notice how like this angle now that I fell back to is an off angle, right? I fell back to is an off angle, right? So, if I were to hold the same distance to the to the wall um as I did with the common angle,

[20:56] Duxsen's just going to swing way past it. Like Okay, so you can just peek out, Cuz cuz on his screen, um and then I'm going to be like standing still or something. Like he's he's

[21:08] Right. Yeah. So, it's going to be really hard for me to react. So, if I'm if I'm holding an off angle, um you probably want to hold pretty wide, right? Hold pretty wide for that off angle peak.

[21:21] But, it's different where um in this [music] in this case it was like pretty close, right? But, as we saw in the early example, like playing off angles like this where doesn't maybe you can come in from main and then and then go

[21:33] go to the right. Yeah, like like this kind of off angle, since since they're not going to be uh moving like super fast horizontally, but they're actually they're in a way like moving closer to me, walking to me diagonally,

[21:46] um it's going to be better to just hold tighter, right? So, it's all about like what kind of direction that the opponent's going to peek me in, whether it's like completely horizontal, whether it's like diagonal in this case, and

[21:58] just depending on how far close they are to me, that will determine, you know, So, like this would be like another example.

[22:11] it's like a little bit further away, you probably don't have to hold like as somewhat wide. Compared to like like common angle, I'd hold here, right? But, past your crosshair. This is like a pretty good off angle, too, right here.

[22:25] Cuz a lot of times people are like pre-aiming um like here, right? Like as >> [music] >> pre-aiming for back like back side. And if you're like getting close, they might not be ready for it, either.

[22:42] another another like case in point, right? Like a lot of people like on C like hold this angle, right? But, often times like if you were to just hold death sentence because, I don't know, Reyna or Jett could like updraft and

[22:55] shoot you from up here. They could wide swing past you, you know, they could then push you off. So, it's like a little bit scary, right? So it's it's kind of like the same scenario as like holding A main from where we were

[23:08] too, right? Like you have to anticipate like how our enemies going to be picking me. Are they going to be like swinging tight? Are they going to be swinging wide? You know, are they going to be flashing and jumping up here or TPing up

[23:21] there? Um and if they do like use utility, you know, and you fall back, going to hold slide off angle? So maybe Duck Season you can try to like push Duck Season you can try to like push onto site.

[23:33] for that off angle or are you going to, you know, try to, you know, play these boxes and hold crossfire? Are you going to play elevation, you know?

[23:46] Sometimes like you can kind of like throw off Playing around with the elevation. Or are you going to play more off angles, right? Like this.

[23:59] coming out, like be even like looking here, right? So you can probably hold [music] off angle. Right? Or maybe you could like try pushing bend.

[24:16] what positions you're going to fall back to. Cuz maybe like first scenario that you take the fight. It's like a second scenario. You know, maybe a third scenario, fourth scenario.

[24:30] util for each of those each of those fights, too. Cover is everything.
