LaMetric Time Wi-Fi Clock How To Connect OpenHab and Home Assistant

[00:01] society Matt here from MK smells calm and in this video we're going to be and in this video we're going to be talking about this the Allah metric time

[00:24] so in this video I'm gonna show you how to connect the Allah metric time to both open half and home assistant as well as show you how to get a notification to pop up on it once a door sensor like this is opened so those of you that

[00:37] don't know the Allah metric time is basically a multifunctional clock so the entire front of this is display there are many LEDs and there are multicolor as well but my favorite thing is connecting it to open a band home

[00:51] notifications and show different things on the front of the display it also has a Youtube subscriber count it has radio it has clock stopwatch you know connect Spotify you can connect your Amazon echo and Google assistant to it the

[01:59] notifications so if you turn on your sprinklers you can get notice in here say somebody enters your house through the door sensor you can get a notification so it's a very good notification device and so in my opinion

[02:13] the best use case for this is a notification device for your smartphone where you can pick up the Allah metric time and read more about the functions follow em case marks on Twitter Instagram and snapchat as well as

[02:28] discord because those are places were some enthusiasts like you belong before mention that this guide assumes that you already have the Allah metric time setup using the instructions provided by lo metric so that just means the basic

[02:41] functions such as getting a set up with Wi-Fi and having allometric account but if you would like to see home assistant and how we connect the metric time to home assistant then skip to this timestamp on the screen now but if

[02:54] watching so I recommend having my website open up the link is in the description to this exact guide so this guide I right now have a Google Doc but by the time this video is out it'll be on my website on a

[03:07] website page saruman having it open somewhere you can easily follow along as required so we're gonna be basically following this guide first on openhab it's their official metric guide and so we're just gonna be following this

[03:22] everything that I talked about came from here so if you want somewhere to look to if you need help with anything look at that guide which will be linked in my guide well I should be making it easier and my guide there as well

[03:35] so here's first thing that we're gonna do is go into our web administration do is go into our web administration portal so we're gonna go to 192.168 to the IP address and then we're gonna go to paper UI and now we're gonna go into

[03:52] add-ons and we're gonna go into bindings wait for the stupid fridge then we're going to go into bindings type in allometric 'la metric time and press install if it loads like this for a long time then just press this refresh button

[04:08] up here and then type in allometric time one more time a metric there we go it is you then we're gonna go into inbox we're impressed search for things allometric time-binding then we're gonna press add

[04:24] time-binding then we're gonna press add manually and then we want to do Ola manually and then we want to do Ola metric time so this is how we're gonna going to need to a couple parameters from the lumetri time dev portal so

[04:38] we're gonna go to this link that's in my guide and it's gonna ask you to log in so log in with the email that you use for your la metric time alright then we're gonna need something called the API key which is specific to this device

[04:53] so what you want to do is once you're in you want to go to where your name is go to my devices and here is your API key so you're gonna want to copy this and so you're gonna want to copy this and then paste it in here into the paper UI

[05:09] and so for the host you're gonna need the IP address of your ola metric time the IP address of your ola metric time so you can get this from going to your router so I'm going to go into my router real quick

[05:23] and here is my lemma trick so I'm just gonna copy this IP address now after a static IP address which is what I recommend you doing as well so then just recommend you doing as well so then just paste it in there a couple spaces and if

[05:37] you want you can give it a different name if you want and other than that all you need is the host and the API key and then you can just press this check mark all right now we just tap on lo metric time and as you can see it says online

[05:50] which means that is successfully connected to the metric from open app so now once we are in paper UI and we see all this just simply go through press on all the circles press create new item and just leave everything as is and just

[06:06] keep pressing link there we go we got volume now we're going to do application so you just press create new and - link same thing with the display create new

[06:19] same thing with the display create new item link and repeat that for all of item link and repeat that for all of them now you might think that your but actually there's a show more button right here you press that and it gives

[06:33] right here you press that and it gives you more things so you just keep going through linking the channels to new items all right now if we go back to our items all right now if we go back to our paper UI inbox and we press search for

[06:46] things and little metric time binding now if we go back to inbox you can see that more things popped up that are allometric related so you want to add all of them except for the one that says low metric time since we already added

[06:59] that so just press the checkmark next to clock add as thing press the checkmark clock add as thing press the checkmark next to radio ad as thing stopwatch next to radio ad as thing stopwatch timer and weather now if we go back into

[07:19] configuration and things we have all of this so if we go into the clock you can go ahead and link these guys up same thing like we did for the metric time thing like we did for the metric time just create new item press link what's

[07:34] next radio link that one up there you go once

[07:48] all those are linked up you are pretty much good to go so if we go into control we should be able to see all of our lumetri stuff so we can for example let's see here we can adjust the display brightness and as you can see it's

[08:03] adjusting on the lot metric over there so I can adjust the display brightness what else can we do let's you can set an alarm from here if you want you can save

[08:18] alarm from here if you want you can save all the alarm you can do the volume you there you can change the application you want so you can change it too for subscribers oh would you look that we're almost at 40,000 thank you to everyone

[09:03] checkmark and as you can see a little metric it came up and you can also do the warnings and alerts the difference between info warning and alert is their different priority levels and some well will stay on the screen and some will

[09:18] not we'll get into that later and then for weather over here we can switch it to the forecast so we could see the the forecast so we could see the forecast hello let's see here radio we

[09:32] can start the radio we can do a stopwatch if we wanted to we can we just stopwatch if we wanted to we can we just have to set a time or we can start it have to set a time or we can start it pause it and reset it and then oh stop

[09:45] this is what I met you can set a timer for right here we can do five and it's gonna create a 5 second timer all right now having it everything in the paper

[09:59] review why is cool and all but let's add it to our basic UI so to do this we need to open up terminal or putty whatever you use to SSH into your open app server you use to SSH into your open app server so I'm going to do SSH and the command

[10:15] that we're gonna want to run is sudo nano size et Cie / open up - slash sitemap slash phone now sitemap access our site map let me just put this in the guide for you guys it'll ask you for your admin password alright and now you

[10:32] this is why you want to have my guide open you just want to copy all of this open you just want to copy all of this no actually no you want to copy what's inside here and then I'm gonna put this under my demo frame right underneath it

[10:57] in and clean it up a little bit all right so I've gone ahead and added or cleaned up the file so let me go through everything that we added so we have the different little frames for the lament Ric here we have the device controls so

[11:15] the brightness and the volume then you have your different notification so we'll show you the latest notifications that were sent to the device then you have your clock commands you have your timer commands radio stopwatch and

[11:28] whether this will be easy visualize when we see in the basic UI so we just press control X Y and enter to save now we can get rid of terminal now save now we can get rid of terminal now we go to our basic UI page again so

[11:43] we're gonna go to the main openhab configuration portal and then go to basic UI and as you can see we have all of the allah metric controls in here so this is everything that we saw in the paper you are just in a different format

[11:55] the door sensor role so what that means is when this door sensor opens then the allah metric time will get will show a notification this then door sensor is from MK Safaricom shop if you guys want to pick one up links in the description

[12:11] it helps out the channel a lot so I have already connected the door sensor to this open app system and as you can see right here it's called MK - door sensor one right now it's closed and if I separate the contacts it says open so

[12:25] let's go ahead and create this rule so I'm going to be using the built in rules engine that is built into the paper UI now so I'm just going to go over to now so I'm just going to go over to rules press the plus button new rule and

[12:37] rules press the plus button new rule and I'm going to name it m'kay - door sensor I'm going to name it m'kay - door sensor one la metric notify then I'm just going going to create the plus button of when and we're going to press the trigger

[12:53] and we're going to press the trigger type when an item changes state we're going to press next now we're going to select an item so I'm going to find my door sensor it is m'kay door sensor one so when the

[13:06] it is m'kay door sensor one so when the previous state was closed so now it's saying is so when m'kay door sensor changes from closed to open so we're gonna press okay and then we're gonna pressed then we're gonna press send a

[13:19] pressed then we're gonna press send a command next item in terms of types and I'm gonna scroll through the list and show you which ones are notifications so there's the alert notification which is like a alarm like

[13:32] very very important so you want to use this if it's like a fire is happening or something then there is the info notification which is just low key it just like shows and then disappears and then there's a warning which is an

[13:46] then there's a warning which is an in-between both of those so since this is a door sensor and it's not that big of a deal I'm just gonna press info notification and style for the command I'm just gonna write m'kay door one open

[14:02] I'm just gonna write m'kay door one open and now just press ok and now since the rule is done just gonna press the checkmark to save it alright let's test it out so I'm going to separate the contacts there we go

[14:18] as you can see the notification came up on the Ella metric clock so right now the door sensor is open I'm going to close it and now when I separate the close it and now when I separate the contacts there we go puts a notification

[14:31] contacts there we go puts a notification on the low metric time and like I said different types of notification levels alright at this point you can skip to the end of video for the closing or marks timestamps on the screen alright

[14:46] now we're going to connect the lumetri time to home assistant I recommend having my website open up link is in description where I have a written guide as well as things to copy and paste and links in there so I recommend having it

[14:59] Google Doc but this will be all on the website so I'm gonna be taking some assistant guide but regardless we're gonna open the home system guide and so

[15:13] now we're just gonna be following along a little bit with the home assistant guy especially with the setup steps so first we have to login to our lumetri account so first we have to login to our la metric account this should be the same

[15:28] account that you used to sign sign in when you set up the allah metric time when you set up the allah metric time now we are logged in so now we're gonna hit the create button we're going to create a notification app we're gonna

[15:42] create a notification app we're gonna call the the app home assistant just assistant and then for the privacy policy type in localhost we just want to

[15:54] do the same things that are on the home system guide so yep yep that looks good and now we want to check all of the permissions and press save all right now

[16:06] here we have our client ID for the notification apps so we're gonna need this in a second alright so now we have our client ID and if we tap on this it'll give us our client ID and client secret so now we have to go over to this

[16:22] the home assistant guide forelimb Ettrick we're going to copy this and then we're going to go over to our home system installation we're going to go to haseo and we're going to open the configurator open it in the web UI and

[16:41] we're just simply going over to our configuration tamil file here we go here configuration tamil file here we go here is mine so I'm just gonna put it right here line 13 paste in what we got from the guide and now I'm just going to

[16:56] paste over my client ID and then I'm also gonna grab my client secret and I'm but that's not the only thing we have to do in the configuration not ammo file we also need to create this notify thing copy this right here then go back over

[17:12] to your configuration demo file and the configurator and we're gonna paste this in here and I recommend changing the notifier name to just call it allometric we're gonna go over to configuration general check the config looks good and

[17:30] let's create the rule that when the door sensor opens and notifications comes up to the allâh metric time now this is a door sensor from MK smart complex shop if you guys are interested the link is in the description so I've already gone

[17:44] ahead and set up this door sensor and connected to it to home assistant and as you can see right here where my mouse is if I open the contacts and close them it changes state so now let's go ahead and simply create an automation where if

[17:57] this opens this gets a notification so I'm gonna go over to my guide and then I'm going to copy this code right here then I'm gonna go to house i/o and then can access all of our configuration files gonna open the web UI I'm gonna

[18:14] browse the folder and I want to find automation zamel and now I'm simply just gonna paste in the code and press save before we go any further let me explain what all this code does so first we're naming this automation we're calling it

[18:28] door sensor then we're triggering that when the state of the door sensor changes from close to open then it's going to do the action notify dot metric going to do the action notify dot metric so that's our la metric service and so

[18:42] the message that we're sending is MK door open and then obviously a quick note you would replace this entity ID with whatever your end is the ID of your with whatever your end is the ID of your device is and so now this is the data

[18:57] that's going along with our message we want to do the sound notification we want to send the icon I 620 and we wanted to show up one time and then the priority is going to be info now there's three different priorities there's info

[19:14] warning and critical and you want to use each one with the type of message you're happening you'd want to send critical what if you just want to do like a notification that a door opens and you just choose info

[19:26] and cycles is again how many times it shows up and then the icon you can choose this from the metrics icon library over here on the home assistant guide if you go to developer America icons slash icons column such icons

[19:42] you can see all the different icons that you can use and all you simply need to know is the number so for example if we wanted this color wheel ID seven six sixty so then you would just replace this right here so if I search up right

[20:00] here six twenty here's the info one that I'm using so like I said if you find an icon that you like all you need is the ID number right here 620 and then you same thing for sounds they have a couple of different sounds that you can use

[20:16] that's it now let's go back to configuration now let's go back to configuration general and now we're going to check the configuration files they check out and restart the server

[20:30] alright the home assistant server is back up let's go ahead and test this out back up let's go ahead and test this out so I'm going to open the door sensor there we go the notification came up let's test that out one more time
